It depends on the setting.
I have a pair of these I use for cycling and working outdoors.

Fellow owners mention looking like Riddick in the comments.
For brand name glasses, I don't think this price is bad. Make sure your lenses are polarized, scratch and fog resistant, and provide high levels of UVA & UVB protection (I think this is helpful but am not an expert). These are the things I look for in my eyewear. I try and avoid both cheap and overpriced crap.
I have and like these a lot: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NOACJWK/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_n835Ab9NN2VH5
Hello MG!
First time grower here in flowering stage. Many growers may never even consider eye wear, myself included; however, after maintaining my plants under the HID bulbs in both veg and flower I've noticed some eye strain.
It wasn't really a big deal at first, but once I switched my bulb to HPS for flowering I noticed my eyes really hurting or even headaches after a while of plant training under the lights.
I did some research and decided to buy a pair of protective eye glasses. I cannot even explain how awesome it feels to have a pair of these. I work with computers almost 24/7/365, so reducing any eye strain is a HUGE advantage for me. Pictures don't even do it justice, you can see clearly with no strain on the muscles in your eyes and no squinting either :).
I highly recommend them if you're interested, check them out here!
WA state medical patient with RA and wanting to do a real grow for almost a decade. Helped a few friends with their grows and trim sessions over the years and also attempted a few outdoor hidden grows with little success (bad weather, theft, pests/animals). Finally decided to save up and do it properly now that I have space indoors. I have been lurking /r/microgrowery for over a year now and have learned a lot and want to thank you all for everything you do. I also want to thank the YouTubers Growing With Mr.Tight, JustinTime2Grow, and medgrower1 for also being excellent resources. Now onto the details:

18-6 Lighting cycle for veg. full 1200w of MH.
Using tap water and PH Down (is around 8.0 right out of the tap). I let the water sit for at least a few hours to let any chemicals leech out into the air and bring it closer to room temp.

The GDP went in almost a full day later. It was a younger clone and I was worried about the transplanting shocking it, but turned out fine. One of my MH bulbs had bits of broken glass in the outer part and didn't work so I had to wait on a replacement arrived on day 6. Also I ordered the wrong size Phresh filter and am waiting for the refund to process so I can get the right size. Temps have been hovering around 80F ambient with the lights on and 40% RH.
Temp minimum during dark cycle is 68-70F and humidity maxed out around 85% RH.
First watering with nutrients will be as soon as the soil dries a bit more (still damp at knuckle deep). Will be doing a half strength of the Big Bloom for the first feed likely tomorrow morning an hour or so after the lights kick on.
I eventually want to get an 8x4 to use as a flower tent and have the 4x4 as a veg tent to set up a perpetual grow. I am also seriously looking at the GrowBlu lights for veg when I do this, the results I am seeing from the guys on YouTube using them just looks amazing. I also want to switch over to en Ebb and Flow type system instead of soil when I do that, but that is something I need to look into much more.
These are, for less than $9
I would still consider some basic eye protection just in case a ricochet, doesn't need to be full seal so even some inexpensive shooting glasses (which aren't allowed at fields so you could consider something field-able if you ever want to play)
https://www.amazon.com/Pyramex-Highlander-Safety-Eyewear-Anti-Fog/dp/B001AEEKHO/
$7 prime shipped full seal eye pro.
If I ever got a flair here I'm sure it would be overly sensitive about eye protection guy, so feel free to take what I say with that in mind, but you only have one set in my mind.
Just search for "CO2 laser googgles" on Ebay or Amazon.
10600 nm, OD5+. That's what you want. It should be printed on the glass. You can get them from LightObject if you want a sort-of brand name behind it.

Honestly I use a pair of nemesis tinted safety glasses I get from work. https://www.amazon.com/Jackson-Nemesis-3020121-Safety-Glasses/dp/B002JG55BW
They don’t have to be that old. I see these all the time and you can still buy similar ones today on amazon even
It's a pair of Pyramex I-Force goggles
http://www.amazon.com/Pyramex-I-Force-Sporty-Anti-Fog-Goggle/dp/B006WPSEAK?ie=UTF8&fpl=fresh&redirect=true&ref_=s9_simh_gw_g200_i1_r
$100 in defensive ammo? It's a Glock, what do they need $100 worth of defensive ammo for? $50 in eye and ear protection? These $10 eyeglasses are fine for eye protection and they could buy like fifty earplugs for $5 at Walmart. Here is 1000 rounds of 9mm steel cased doge meme ammo for $152. I agree that more classes are important, but they're on a budget here.
I mean the price point is just me being nitpicky. My larger point is that it's more important to get a gun now at least for home defense. At that point they're almost halfway to carrying. If they had to save up all $1500 for gun + accessories before even considering buying a gun, then it might just never happen.
Are these glasses safe to use? I've never used them before and I just wanted to make sure as not everything sold online is trustworthy.
For bulk, I use the Gateway StarLite Glasses (10 pack), but it looks like they've gone up in price since I last ordered them in 2015.
https://www.amazon.com/Gateway-Safety-4699-StarLite-Gumballs/dp/B00FA4OCD2/
This 12-pack looks to be the same and is roughly a little over $1 per piece.

Ok so here is a rundown on what is included and I’m going to try to do this from the top down for House Items and Personal. Roughly speaking House items are on the tile (left) and personal is on the carpet (right). The clothing is mostly from random online shopping or things I had around anyways. Tupac & Gucci Mane shirts from urban outfitters.
Reading through a bunch of sunglasses reviews, I get the impression that they are branded reps (i.e. reviews that say things that say "these are great quality but I have the authentic and I can tell the difference"). I am tempted to order and compare to a $13 rep I just got of a style they carry. Mine $13 pair are calloutable for sure but my usual sunglasses are $3 3M safety glasses (seriously they are amazing) so I'm happy for the style upgrade.
This is what I do. I wear something like this but there are tons of options like these or these. I wear my "nice" sunglasses off my bike and then I don't have to worry about breaking/scratching anything.
These are pretty close
E: Related, and the frequently bought together lol

Bought mine last week.
Depends on what you're going for. If you want it to look like the comics, see KirbyW's comment. But if you want it to be 'realistic', I recommend something like this over a black turtleneck, with the proper blue (or red for current continuity, I guess) paint applied. For the pants, slim-fit cargos with shin guards, perhaps?
The mask is pretty easy, 'night mask', or if you want realism, maybe tactical goggles.
"Ninja" stuff might also be a nice touch (grappling hook, throwing knives etc.)
His traditional weapon is 2 eskrima sticks (buy a dowel rod from Hobby Lobby, cut it in half, paint), but collapsible batons could be an interesting alternative.
edit: added a link for goggles.
edit 2: added links for shin guards and knives.
Bolle labspecs are sweet and cheap IMO. I have these ones and they're just great!
Jackson/Kimberly Clark make a version of these safety glasses called elements. The are under $2 each at most welding supply stores. Or to can buy a box off Amazon. Link
They have a couple other versions of inexpensive safety glasses. My favorites are the Nemesis and hell raisers.

*I think this is a bad price. They should be closer to $6 from other dealers

I've used these cheap OTG's for 3 burns over some very large sunglasses with no problem.
get ready for one wild evening, my friend
I got lucky yesterday and found a 20 pack on Amazon for $129. Add next day delivery and it was $138. After taking what I need for my family, sold the remaining 14 pair to friends at cost for $7/ea ($138/20 = $6.90). Took less than an hour to find homes for them.
Currently $150 fulfilled by Amazon.

Yes, if I don't use them my eyes have purple spots all over them after I walk away from the tent. If I use normal sunglasses the colors are all wrong. I use these, the color correction isn't perfect, but they are only $15:

3m Tekk is often in the $8-$11 range (not to be confused with the $3 super uncomfortable crap one) and is rated for impact and chemsplash, as well as the similar Dewalt.
Something like these, these, or these should suffice as long as you're using a face shield too. A lot of injury reports are from debris going under safety glasses.
By using a shield or guard, "full wrap" goggles (not just glasses, like I use for using the miter/table saw), and a face shield, I think I should be pretty safe.
You can find them a bit cheaper on Amazon too.
Edit: You want to look for ANSI Z87 rated goggles, that's the OSHA specification. You could also use a face shield and something with military standard rating like these which meets MIL-PRF-31013 and ANSI Z87 specifications.
These meet both standards, right?
I wonder why nobody knows about these (probably because vtac took em and slapped their name on it)
Pyramex V2G
Pyramex I-Force
Pyramex Highlander
I own these, highlanders, and I-forces. None of them fog, ever. If I had a million dollars for every time these fogged on me, I'd still be broke as fuck.
Don't waste your money on ESS's and Revisions. The prices on these bad boys are unbeatable.
I bought these. Eye and ear protection are things I'm willing to spend a decent amount of money on. The thought of going through life blind or deaf due to a stupid mistake or something seems worth the money. But yeah I think normal safety glasses can stop co2 beams. Some people don't wear any. Up to you to decide how valuable sight is.

Is there no love for slick-looking safety goggles anymore? They were all the rage on here last year!

Try Uvex. They look a bit like snowboarding goggles, and the nose guard is a flexible plastic that shouldn't dig into you. The difference between my pair and whatever the gen chem labs supplies is night and day honestly.
My current pair
> Wow, once I saw this book was banned here in the U.S., I had to get it just to see why and, wow. The author has brought up things that men hardly think about in relation to the women in their lives. Of course any feminist-minded female or puzzy whipped male would disagree due to their personal experiences or beliefs, but Chinweizu has very, very valid and strong points that readers of both sexes have to consider if they are honest about themselves and the environment we live in. After all, you have to wonder why this little book was banned and by whom. I'll leave you with one of the quotes form the book, "Men may rule the world, but women rule the men that rule the world"...and that was before feminism.
Enjoy.
I've been using Howard Leight glasses the last two years. They're cheap, but I've never had problems with them fogging up.
Here they are on Amazon
I and a few friends have these with a combo of a metal mesh facemask, and we have no problem with them fogging up.
I just ordered these, which have good reviews. Hopefully they're awesome.
After about 25 years of not owning anything except a bolt-action rifle and a breach-loading shotgun, I jumped into the AR-15 world nearly two years ago, and now I'm well-and-truly hooked. I'm still a huge nub, so don't take my advice too seriously.
There's a lot to learn just in one platform. But, don't let that keep you from getting both an AR and an AK.
Learning AKs feels overwhelming for completely different reasons than ARs. That said, I am always impressed with how well my AK performs, and how comfortable it is to shoot.
If you haven't already, head over to /r/ak47 and check out the buyer's guide so you don't make a big mistake early on. The oft recommended WASR 10 is considered the best starter AK for the money. Lurk /r/gundeals for a shot at getting one on sale; they've been seen for less than $550 recently which is better than they were pre-election.
I do have to caution you: Accessories and customization for an AK is a completely different game than ARs. You might find that your "cheap plinker" rifle ends up costing you more to trick out, resulting in the same net cost-of-ownership as an AR shooting slightly more expensive ammo. If you end up happy with a stock AK, though, it's a great investment, and a welcome break from sending .22 cal downrange.
All that said, I think if you're picking a semi-auto purely on the basis of budget and having fun hitting targets, this is what I would highly recommend (after wasting a lot of money on stuff I didn't like):
This is all you need. Just have fun. You'll quickly discover what you like/dislike, and be more informed about upgrades and accessories.
Edit: Fixed a link.
Something like these .
Ok because I need some new low profile protection and I really liked the I force, but I want the "glasses" one and not the strap version. Using this outdoor so a bit of darkness would be perfect. Is the grey the same as [indoor/outdoor] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006WPSF72/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza?th=1) but instead of a strap?
Drunk Busters Impairment Goggles (.08-.15) BAC
I have this, rarely use it but it is worth it when you really need it.
Original post: Found these glass goggles in the wall of our 100 year old home
Comments:
Author: jgalaxyrm Body: Looks like old safety goggles with the strap missing. Possibly for brazing work on the plumbing.
Author: InsertBluescreenHere Body: yup old safety glasses. Some had interchangeable lenses - clear for eye protection or dark tint for brazing. Neat intrinsic thing but arent worth anything.
Author: dm80x86 Body: A steam-punk cosplayer might give a good price for them.
Author: Skyhawkson Body: Sadly probably not, you can get them new on amazon.
Author: lmYourHuckleberry Body: Having the real thing with age to it would make it Better in my opinion. All about that A E S T H E T I C
Author: LumpyShitstring Body: I’m at a point where I would never buy a safety anything off of Amazon.
Author: TR8R2199 Body: How come? I’m curious because even though I get all my safety gear provided on the job I really wanted safety glasses with a strap instead of arms and got them off amazon

Author: Apric1ty Body: Look up that old photo of a supposed time traveler who was wearing hipster like clothing. I think he may have been wearing those same glasses or goggles

Author: AlfieHitchcock Body: Those are definitely old welding goggles. See photo. (I'd say anywhere from the late 1940s to 50s in age. The pic I have is from WW2 factory. You see these type of goggles a lot in factory photos of that mid-century era.) https://timedotcom.files.wordpress.com/2014/12/141208-women-steel-workers-wwii-08.jpg?quality=85
Author: nephros Body: Good guess but the glass inserts are clearly (heh) not suitable for welding. Mountaineering like others said is more likely.
Author: sonofeevil Body: They could be plastic inserts which are fine for brazing (which is what would have been done to the pipes and probably why they're inside the wall.
Author: micheal_pices Body: yep, you'd go blind using these for welding.
Author: sonofeevil Body: Believe it or not but the most danger from welding comes from the UV light (Radiation). Any clear plastic lens will block the UV radiation. While it will still be bright and you won't be able to see what you're doing too well it will protect your eyes.
Author: Grunherz Body: They don’t have to be that old. I see these all the time and you can still buy similar ones today on amazon even
Author: TrannosaurusRegina Body: Those are remarkably similar, but the ones in the OP look to be made in the '50s or earlier (likely earlier if the house is 100)
Author: Grunherz Body: To me they look more like '60s or '70s tbh--which is still 50-60 years old at this point. What about them makes you think they're from the '50s or earlier specifically? I could probably walk into a hardware store today and get ones with an identical pattern.
Author: markeees Body: I had a pair like these, only darker lenses and plastic. I got them from my grandfather who used to work on oil platforms and land-based rigs. Safety glasses. Only thing missing is temples, which were there as you can see the nub on the rear of the side-protector pieces.

Author: worksucks0909 Body: Could they be from a set of driving goggles? Cars of the time didn't always have windshields. Edit: They look similar to these https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-motorcycle-automobile-driving-148648753
Author: brobubba1 Body: If the lenses are interchangeable, they could also be mountaineering glasses. Those are still pretty typical style today because a tinted lens and full eye coverage prevented snow blindness on mountains and glaciers.
Hi, hardware solution could be glasses that turn black when flashed such as automatic welding glasses .
I do not know what light threshold they need. Use a lux meter app to measure the flash bang lux and then ask the producer if the mask activate with that Lux value (If you use that you can also increase the brightnes ofyour screen to increase the flashbang lux to trigger the google if the activation threshold is just not met). Maybe they can even change the settings of that googles. But be aware the luxmeter apps are not that precise. (German) Test showed that the iPhone 5 in combination with LightMeter by whitegoods show only 3% derivation from the refference light source.
Edit: more details
You mean like these: https://www.amazon.com/Revision-Military-Desert-Locust-Goggle/dp/B007FHERY6
I switched to these from ESS NVGs, and there is no fogging at all. I love how low profile they are, and that + a mesh mask covers my entire face. It is also very easy to aim down the sights.
> The article you linked... doesn't support what I think you're saying?
Yes I know it doesn't support what I'm saying!! Jesus, how can you misread me so badly?? I was saying, 'this is probably the sort of thing you support!' Feminists who are against the movement for genital autonomy! I'm an intactivist, that means I am in favour of genital integrity for all. Contrasted with people like you and the feminist professor I linked who believe that the "religious reasons for men’s “mutilation” are fundamentally different from the arguments that drive the wounding of women", and so on.
> The third paragraph of the wikipedia article you linked... also says the exact opposite of what you're saying, that it is about control of women's sexuality
How is that "the exact opposite of what you're saying"? Where did I claim that FGM is not about control of women's sexuality?? Just because you don't accept that it is a form of 'patriarchal oppression' does not mean that it is not about control of women's sexuality; these things do not necessarily follow. Hell, if you read the masculist book Anatomy of female power he says it is done to reduce women's sex drive thus giving them more 'bargaining power' in relationships and marriage, i.e. less sex drive => less desire to get married => more ability to get material rewards for men in return for marriage. Not that I 100% accept that to be true, but it is a theory that is arguably to do with control of women's sexuality in a gynocentric social setting, not patriarchal.
> Cutting of foreskin is not as bad as cutting off a clitoris or sewing a vagina mostly shut
lol, you just picked those out of the several forms of FGM for what reason exactly? There are several more types of FGM than that, and you clearly know it, because you mentioned "type 1A" above.
> FGM is worse
MGM is more widely practised. What is done in your country; is FGM done much there?
> ...and shouldn't be minimized by equivocating it with circumcision
How is it "minimizing" it?? You just said you think it's "indefensible" yet you say to compare male and female circumcision to downplaying the former. I could link you videos and images of MGM that would make you sick to your stomach, and articles of kids that have fucking died; how you can possibly think it is 'minimizing' FGM to relate the two I have no idea.
See http://blog.practicalethics.ox.ac.uk/2014/02/female-genital-mutilation-and-male-circumcision-time-to-confront-the-double-standard/ Long, but worth reading in full, if you are really committed to learning about this stuff. That is from Brian D. Earp, an Oxford University, England (one the world's top unis.) Research Associate, BTW.
At the end of the day it the exact same people and organisations who can and should be campaigning against both simultaneously, (World Health Organisation, United nations, Save the Children, etc.), but people like you keep trying to keep the spotlight on girls and women, I'm guessing for paternalistic and chivalrous reasons.
thanks for the reply. glasses underneath are not really an option unless they auto-dim. These, Servore Auto Shade Darkening Welding Goggle Arc-513 looked really impressive, but are going to be too big to fit under our helmets
Lab Goggles. $10. It may look dumb, but you're eyes won't sting!
