I absolutely 100% agree with you. I suffer from wrist pain that's entirely my fault from gaming too much and typing with bad posture for a long time, and the joycons are so close to perfect but no system remap option is awful. And they are tiny. and they break easily.

On your end, you can use the mayflash Magic-NS to use any other system's controller - which would let you use the Xbox adaptive controller, the ultimate in modular controllers for disabled folks. It's a really neat controller and an amazing platform for custom solutions - foot buttons, long cables on a pair of sticks that can reach your hands separately, etc. Really, really amazing platform. This guy kind of goes over some of the unique caveats - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9f6iJwk4Pg

u/AlphaNERDSolid · 55 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

The article does not go into detail. Seems like all he did is plugging it into an adapter. The adapter he used is the Mayflash MagicNS adapter. 8bitdo also offers such an adapter, however that is strictly wireless.

It's cool to see that he used an adapter for the adaptive controller on the Switch but at the end of the day it's all that he did. Nothing new in this regard.

u/caninehere · 44 pointsr/GameDeals

There's a few but this is the one I have.

Looking into it now the Steam Controller is apparently one of the only controllers that doesn't work with it - because the Steam Controller doesn't have Bluetooth + blocks it from working in wired mode apparently.

But the adapter works with:

  • Wireless - DualShock 3, DualShock 4, Switch Pro, Joy-Con, Wii U Pro controller, and XB1
  • Wired - DualShock 3, DualShock 4, Switch Pro, XB1 pad, Xbox 360 controllers and fight sticks, and standard wired USB controllers (with the Steam Controller being one of the few exceptions).

I have only really used it with the Switch, but it works with the PC + PS3 as well which is neat. I usually used an XB1 gamepad or DualShock 4 and it worked perfectly with both. I eventually bought a Switch Pro controller though.
u/RobertAPetersen · 30 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I had two different pairs of left joycons drift on me.

Finally said fuck it and bought a $20 adaptor that lets me use my PS4 DualShock controller on my Switch. I’ve had that thing since the PS4 launched and have had zero issues with it. Switch just sees it as a Switch Pro controller. Works brilliantly, even wireless, rumble, and gyro.

The adapter shown here that the Adaptive Controller is connecting to is the Mayflash Magic NS Wireless Controller Adapter for Nintendo Switch. I currently use to connect my regular Xbox controller to the Switch for Super Mario Odyssey where it works flawlessly, and I plan to do so again for Smash. I highly recommend it!

Wirelessly connect your PS4, PS3, Nintendo Switch Pro, Nintendo Switch Joy-Con, Wii U Pro, and Xbox One S Bluetooth Controllers to your Nintendo Switch, PS3 or PC system. The wired PS4, PS3, Nintendo Switch Pro, Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox 360 Controllers and fight sticks, and standard wired USB Controllers like Logitech rumble gamepad F510 and F310 can be connected to your Nintendo Switch, PS3 and PC system. it also supports NEOGEO mini. Plug and play.

u/sendblink23 · 13 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

You can't or else every bluetooth controller would work by default. You need to buy a 3rd party usb bluetooth adapter like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-Magic-NS-Wireless-Controller-Nintendo/dp/B079B5KHWQ

No idea if that thing(xiaomi mi bluetooth gamepad) works for it but ps3, ps4, xbox 360, xbox one, wii u pro controllers do work with the Nintendo Switch with it.

u/theDreamDaddy · 11 pointsr/SwitchHacks

I personally use my PS4 controller on the Switch with the 8bitdo adapter and it works great wirelessly with rumble and motion as well. Also connects to PC. I haven’t tried it myself but the Xbox One controller should work too.

For any curious, there is also a Mayflash adapter which looks like it does basically the same as the 8bitdo one for around the same price.

Xbox 360 Controller.

If you already have a controller and it’s a bit worn out, rebuild kits can be purchased online or you can buy another 360 controller.

It’s overall same price as a Pro Controller for this setup but I prefer the bigger thumb sticks and more fluid buttons of the Xbox controller. Vibration features also work so it’s incredible imo.

/u/abs_boxing_tv .

i say ditch the dualshock 3 all-together.

it's hard to find official ones in decent condition now a days.

what i do is use a dualshock 4 (ps4 controller), with these little mods:

  1. mayflash magic ns adapter.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mayflash-Magic-NS-Wireless-Controller-Nintendo/dp/B079B5KHWQ

this lets you use ps4/xb1/xb30/nintendo-switch-pro controllers on the ps3 with full functionality. (such as rumbles/vibration and accessing the PS menu button).

you can still use the ps4 controller on ps3 without this adapter, but the 2 mentioned features will be MIA, along with random disconnects.

  2. replace the default thumbsticks with ps3-style Domed sticks. here's where i get mine:

    https://battlebeavercustoms.com/collections/ps4-thumbsticks/products/ps4-domed-style-replacement-thumbsticks?variant=831396239

they ship to UK, but it might not be worth paying extra shipping just for a simple piece of product. you can probably find domed thumbsticks for cheaper on ebay. Just make sure they are DOMED (which is what ps3 controller sticks are), and compatible with dualshock 4.

no matter what controller or mods you use, it will take some time to get used to, especially with a thumbstick-heavy game such as Fight Night Champion.

but in the end, i ended up liking this setup better for FNC than the original ps3 controller.

thanks to /u/kryp2nitev8 for this advice.

Anything that hooks up via USB can be used on Switch with this little gadget: https://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-Magic-NS-Wireless-Controller-Nintendo/dp/B079B5KHWQ

I have played with my PS4 controller wirelessly (dongle must stay in the dock/charger port if wireless) with no issues.

It also works for PC.

u/TimeForHugs · 5 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I THINK this is it. I was watching a streamer talk about it.

You just plug it into the USB on your switch dock and it can detect controllers.

Edit: 8bitdo make one too but I believe it was the Mayflash that worked better he said. He played live with it too and there was no input lag at all.

I use my old PS4 Hori RAP4 with a Magic-NS adapter. Pretty nice for how cheap it is, as an added bonus I can also use my old Wii U Pro Controller for platformers and stuff where I want a good old fashioned d-pad instead of that joycon shit.

u/ticktak10 · 4 pointsr/NintendoSwitchDeals

Yeah I felt that too when I tried the demo on the switch. I think it is because of the offset analog sticks when compared to the playstation's controller with the analog sticks on the same axis. I've seen a usb dongle that can allow the switch to accept any bluetooth controller so you could play with a ps3 or ps4 controller. These are two I've looked at since the regular joycons keep cramping my hands.

8bitdo

Mayflash

u/SegoliaFlak · 4 pointsr/MonsterHunter

I got one of these the other day and it's fantastic, a couple of things I've seen though:

  • It only lets you connect one controller at a time, you'll need multiple adapters for multiple controllers

  • Even though it lets you connect a joycon to other things, I've seen some people saying it's only a singular joycon (as held sideways)

  • For dualshock 4, I don't think there's a way to remap buttons on switch. This can be a bit jarring as it makes circle the confirmation button (as opposed to 'X' which it's normally mapped to)

Apparently the Magic-NS solves some of these issues if you're looking for a similar alternative

I know about the different controllers for switch, I was specifically asking about adapters like this one and ones like it. Thanks for the info though, I am planning to get a pro controller at some point.

u/MaximusNeo701 · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Correct it is the mayflash one. It has different modes depending on the device you have it hooked up to but it's the same adapter. Let me actually try and use it on my PS4 tonight and report back.

Yeah, you can connect them using an 8bitdo or Mayflash adapter plugged into the dock.

Just be aware that the AB\XY button positions are going to be reversed. As in if you press A on the controller it'll register as B since that's where the B button is located at on a Nintendo layout controller.

u/Vorcton · 3 pointsr/smashbros

You could always buy an adapter (I got this one that lets you use a variety of controllers).

Be warned you'll need 1 per controller (can't use more than 1 controller on 1 adapter).

I know it isn't the best solution, but definitely cheaper than buying more pro controllers and letting the old ones collect dust.

u/BailableCrane10 · 3 pointsr/FortNiteBR

Does it work with Xbox controllers?

Edit: This Magic Ns works for Xbox One S controllers. You do need to be in dock mode to use it.

u/datwunkid · 3 pointsr/gadgets

You can probably use one of the many Xbox to Switch controller adapters out right now with this.

u/qwertylerqw · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I’ve never heard of that controller but 8BitDo is good for a controller with a good d-pad. I would recommend waiting for the SN30 Pro+ to come out because it’ll be much more comfortable than the current SN30 Pro

I have the wired SN30 Pro and it’s d-pad is fantastic. It’s a nice cheaper option

You can also use 8BitDo’s adapter or the MayFlash adapter to use a DS4 controller on the Switch if you already have one

u/Whimsical_Sandwich · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

honestly, if anyone owns a PS4 or Xbox One controller and often plays their Switch in Docked mode, please...just buy a Mayflash adapter. It is by far more affordable and you can use it wirelessly via bluetooth. It's the quite honestly the best alternative you have to getting an inexpensive controller that's bluetooth without having to buy a whole other controller. It doesn't support more than one controller synced at a time unfortunately, but hey you're at least guaranteed co-op and the rest of your friends can just bring a pro controller or joy con of their own. I switch between PS4 and Xbox controllers depending on which I feel like using and it works fine with either.

u/Deathfissure · 2 pointsr/SwitchHaxing

for those interested in a more simple solution if you have just ps4, xbox360, controllers etc.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079B5KHWQ

This product can wirelessly or wired connect just about every single first party (and quite a few third party) controllers I've tried to switch, pc, ps3. has modes for emulating xbox controller on pc and can sync pro controllers ps3 controllers and ps4 controllers alike. Not a shill just making sure people know theres an easier way to use controllers with the switch, been using this for about 4 months and have loved it

u/Xanthophylle · 2 pointsr/Switch

If you are used to play with an Xbox One controller, you can buy an adapter to play on the Switch with it.

I bought this one last week and it works pretty well so far.

There are a few minor inconveniences like button positons (e.g. the A button on the Switch is actually the B button on the controller), which is not an issue after some adaptation time, or not being able to see how much battery power is left, but it's still pretty good (I bought it because it was cheaper than buying a new controller).

It's supposed to work with other controller types, but I've only tested an Xbox One controller. It also comes with a cable to use the adapter in tabletop mode (without the dock), but I have yet to try it.

u/Gurgleplops · 2 pointsr/PS3

If you already have a PS4 controller, get one of these. It lets you use any controller (including the PS4 controller) on the PS3 without making some features like the PS button not work & it lets you use them wireless with vibration. Even games that don't support PS4 controllers will work with this adapter. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079B5KHWQ/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_OsZcBbM816X4J

u/Herro_city_wok · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitchDeals

My recommendation from another thread:

If you already have other controllers, get the Mayflash adapter for $20 to use your Wii U Pro / PS3 / PS4 / Xbox One controllers on the Switch instead of dropping $50.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mayflash-Magic-NS-Wireless-Controller-Nintendo/dp/B079B5KHWQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?adgrpid=56928197881&hvadid=259148354776&hvdev=m&hvlocphy=1007100&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=e&hvrand=12380822819641576212&hvtargid=kwd-364991144776&keywords=magic+ns+adapter&qid=1554813692&s=gateway&sr=8-1

It’s supposed to be for a Nintendo pro controller but I use my Sony DS4 v2 controller. Steam input recognised my PS4 controller as a Nintendo controller and not as a Sony. But all the steam inputs work so you can remap any button etc and it has FULL GYRO support on any game. I usually use gyro on the left trigger aim button or you can have it always on. The gyro is very good. Not as good as the steam controller gyro but it works very well. I’m not sure how the Nintendo gyro would be but according to the forums it works well on my adapter in the purple mode same as I use.

u/ToppoSama · 2 pointsr/dragonballfighterz
u/oakwooden · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I kinda gave up on this because it's such a pain. Two options:

  1. Get a usb adapter. Works very well, but the caveat is you'll be emulating another type of controller (xinput), so no unique features of the switch (read: gyro)
  2. Plug it in. If you're primarily interested in using steam, the controller will be recognized as a switch controller with no effort so you can use the gyro. Added bonus: when you unplug it, it will remain synced to your switch.

Not exactly what you were looking for I know, but I figured I'd just pop in with some alternatives. Good luck!
u/MrGreen_230 · 2 pointsr/fightsticks

Yep that’s the one, it works like a charm, it’s a bit more versatile then the 8bit do adapter because of the usb input. have fun and practice practice practice

DS4 work with the Switch in docked mode by plugging in an adapter to the dock, but I'm not sure which adapter you're referring to. If you already own the controller and adapter, you can test and find out. If not, I would recommend buying an adapter that's known to work, such as the 8Bitdo or Mayflash Magic-NS.

I know this isn't your question but the magic ns DOES work on the switch. Used my xbox controllers etc on it already to play smash.

Yeah the joy cons are shit. If you mainly use the Switch in docked mode, I recommend picking this up and your choice of controller.

u/deadkennedy · 2 pointsr/gamecollecting

I've got a device along these lines which allows me to use my Wii U pro pad with my switch. It works well. I have no idea what these mods for games are (my device doesnt have such a feature), but i doubt there is anything that could get you banned

u/safe_for_work_stuff · 2 pointsr/EmulationOnAndroid

If you've already got an OTG adapter then any usb controler will work. Here's a PC usb gamecube controller that should work

There's the gamecube controller for the switch, but I don't know if those will work on phone/pc or not.

there are wireless ones for the switch, which means on android they'ge got that wierd terrible input lag so avoid those.

I've found that using the magic-ns adapter plugged into my phone, I can connect joycons or other Switch wireless controllers to my Note8 and play emulator games just fine. I was playing Windwaker with it last week.

Yea, the dpad on the Nintendo Switch Pro is ass. Just google search Nintendo Switch Pro dpad and you will get a bunch of results saying how bad it is.

About the adapter, I do recommend you get this one instead:

It is basically the same as the 8bitdo one, but better. It can do everything the 8bitdo can, but it is not limited to wireless, you can plug a wired controller in as well and it works. I plug in my wired Hori Commader Pro and works perfectly.

u/barnacleman9 · 2 pointsr/splatoon

That adapter is also great because you can plug your controller in with a cable or connect it with Bluetooth. It also works for more than just the Switch, for example you could use a Dualshock 4 on an Xbox One if you wanted, and vice versa.

u/atomicpurple64 · 2 pointsr/PS3

your best bet is to get this dongle: https://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-Magic-NS-Wireless-Controller-Nintendo/dp/B079B5KHWQ and use a DS4. It works flawlessly for me on my PS3 and I don't have to worry about fake or broken controllers.

u/kingrichardii · 2 pointsr/buildapcsales

I can confirm that Windows does not do a very good job of handling bluetooth. Especially for multiple controllers. For example, if you have a bluetooth adapter, it is my understanding that your PC recognizes the controller as a wireless controller. However, if you use an adapter such as the xbox provided adapter, then your computer assumes that the adapter plugged in is the controller itself, and thus treats it as a hardwired controller and any issues therefore that might arise would be caused by the adapter or controller and not by the computer itself. Whereas with bluetooth, each device is recognized by and has to go through windows bluetooth, which kind of sucks. For example, at my house for wireless controllers I used this adapter: https://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-Magic-NS-Wireless-Controller-Nintendo/dp/B079B5KHWQ?th=1&psc=1, which requires one for each controller. Early issues have been fixed with firmware updates and it is largely dependable imo.

I will try purchasing a usb switch hub of some sort to see if it works for powering off and on the devices instead of having to plug and unplug the adapter every time I need to use it. Edit: it works fine plugged in all the time, but when you boot your computer with three or four plugged in, for example, you don't know for sure which one is the first controller until you turn on the controller that is synced with it.

u/Metal_Neo · 2 pointsr/ShouldIbuythisgame

As a PC gamer, I would recommend the switch. The portability, exclusives, and price point of the system made it quite appealing to me. The switch offers many features that my main PC simply doesn't have.

If the controls bother you, I would consider looking into something like this to explore third party options.

Laptops have never made much sense to me personally, as I would prefer to spend the portability premium on extra performance in the form of a desktop PC. However, I have had the luxury of never needing to move/transport my rig from my house.

Though, if Nintendo's exclusives don't interest you or if you have a substantial library that you can install already, I would probably recommend the laptop over the switch.

u/Airsh · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Yes. This is the official one: link

But if you're using Windows 10 you can use a regular and cheaper Bluetooth 4.1 adapter. I have this one (which is not much cheaper) because it was well recommended to use with a Nintendo Switch but I also tried it on PC and works well. It's a bit of a hassle because you need to update the firmware tho so the official adapter is probably a better buy.

Lots of people have problems with the 8bitdo one. The Mayflash MagicNS works better.

There's an third party adapter that allows to plug most controllers (I use this https://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-Magic-NS-Wireless-Controller-Nintendo/dp/B079B5KHWQ). I can play fortnite with a wired 360 controller. For trials the problem is that the triggers will still be digital, ideally the adapter could remap triggers to a right stick axis with a firmware update but it's not available. At the end of the day, I just decided against the switch version (Xbox one instead), analog triggers are a must have I wish Nintendo understood that.

This is the adapter I use:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079B5KHWQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_2YXWBb5YSHBA2

I know for a fact it works with wii mote+nunchuck after a firmware update, and the input lag is very minimal. Hope this helps.

u/Darzaire · 1 pointr/SoulCalibur

Works fine for me with a Mayflash Magic-NS, if you're willing to pay a bit for a nice device. Really wish it wasn't necessary, but, y'know.

u/SunkenRlyeh · 1 pointr/MHGU

I just use this adapter and use my xbox controller https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079B5KHWQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_iNa2Bb49AHN4G

If you play Xbox, why not use an xbox controller? If you have a wired 360 or a one 1 just get the magic ns adapter. If you have a wireless, you'll need magic ns plus a dongle. It's what I use, since I'm also used to from it being my pc gaming controller of choice.

here's the link

I haven't had any issues with it. Once I get some more $$ will be buying a one s for wireless play, as I have a wired 360 atm.

If you happen to already have another controller lying around that you really enjoy, like a PS4 or Xbox controller, I'd suggest getting the Mayflash Magic-NS adapter, which will let you use most USB controllers and some bluetooth controllers (like the DS4).

u/420despacito69 · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Yep! I use this adapter on my Switch to play with my Wii U Pro Controller and it works seamlessly.

The only downsides are that you won’t get rumble and the player 1 light will always be lit regardless of which player it’s connected to. It doesn’t read amiibo and has no motion controls, but those are personally downsides for me.

u/Aliasterrus · 1 pointr/taikonotatsujin

I think this might be the adapter? https://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-Magic-NS-Wireless-Controller-Nintendo/dp/B079B5KHWQ/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1541496450&sr=8-5&keywords=switch+to+ps4+adapter
Unfortunately it seems that the it's only meant for other controllers to work with PC, Switch and PS3

u/WillTheHatter · 1 pointr/PS3

Unless motion control and backwards compatibility are a big deal for you think about checking out one of these to use with a Dualshock 4.

Magic-NS Wireless PS3/4,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079B5KHWQ?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

They work great with all "PS3" games but motion control doesn't work with it.

Grab one of those and a PS4 controller and that's the best way to get a brand new first party controller for PS3.

u/peachey777 · 1 pointr/wiiu

If you get fed up with that like I did, there's a few adapters you could get that would make this process super easy.

I like this one from 8bitdo. Plug it in the pc, hit thee sync button on the adapter, then on the controller, and it will now be connected and seen as an Xbox controller. Works with PS3, PS4, Wii U, Switch, and Xbox Controllers (the bluetooth ones). This also lets you hook up all those controllers to a Nintendo Switch.

https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Bluetooth-Adapter-Nintendo-Switch-Raspberry/dp/B0786JC6VW/

Mayflash also masks basically the same thing as that 8bitdo adapter. It has extra quirks like setting the mode on the adapter for the device you've plugged it into. A cool bonus for this device is you can use it with a modded Wii U. I use a Switch Pro Controller on my Wii U with this

https://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-Magic-NS-Wireless-Controller-Nintendo/dp/B079B5KHWQ/

Mayflash also makes another device that's literally just for Wii U Pro controllers to PC and nothing else. Connects the controller as an Xbox or direct input controller.

u/thejacer87 · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitchDeals

i just bought this adapter. i use my wii u pro controller. so for $25 i got a "switch pro controller"

works well so far, but im sure there will be issues with games that use gryo. (i dont actually own a switch, just borrowing my buddy's until i get one this black friday/xmas )

u/Snarl_II · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Be wary of Power A controllers. I got the Black BOTW themed one and both sticks drift after a few months. Others have reported the same.

In the future if you want to use other controllers with your switch, get this [adapter](Mayflash Magic-NS Wireless Controller Adapter for Nintendo Switch & PC https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079B5KHWQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_YSIVBbCGRK3W6)
Works wirelessly and wired.

u/jzorbino · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

If you want to custom map the controller Steam is the best option, as others have said. It offers full support and the ability to save layouts custom to each game. You can also add non steam games to Steam to use these features.

Alternatively, you can try the Mayflash adapter. I use one of these and it works great, easy to connect and you can mimic xbox controllers for games that don't support anything else. Full customization isn't really an option but you can quickly swap between using the Nintendo ABXY layout or the Microsoft one.

A mayflash adapter like this should probably work if a gamecube controller supports analog control, these are good input lag wise.

Get one of the MayFlash Magic-NS adapters and you will be able to use the PS4 controller with your Switch.

I have one and am able to use the XB One controller and Wii U Pro controller with my Switch, don't have a PS4 controller though so I haven't used it with that but it is listed as supported. Do note however that you can only use one controller at a time with the adapter and not multiple controllers.

u/Huck_Gwai · 1 pointr/smashbros

Same here!

I actually bought an adapter for my Switch that lets me connect my Wii U Pro Controller (which I like more than the Switch version) so my two main controllers will be the Wii U and Switch Pro Controllers.

u/pxlsquid · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

i got both too, and my switch pro controller just collects dust. honestly never thought i would prefer a third party controller to a first party one but here we are. so much stuff i play on switch warrants a good d-pad and that $70 pro controller just ain't got it.

another suggestion is that if you have and prefer something like a ps4 controller, you can use that with your switch. these adapters will let you use pretty much any controller with the switch. i used the Mayflash one and it works like a charm. until i got the 8bitdo using a ps4 controller to play Mario Maker 2 was the next best thing.

Oh! Yes, there is!

You can use a Mayflash Magic-NS: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079B5KHWQ/

It works for multiple systems and Bluetooth controllers. On the PC it will show up like a xbox controller. You can pair both joy-cons to it at the same time to show as a single controller. It will also pair with the PS3, PS4, xbox one s, and several other controllers and adapt them to different systems. You so not even have to mess with software at all.

While you can connect multiple controllers at the same time what ever you plug it into will only show as a single controller. This is handy for emulators though as you can just swap physical controllers and not worry.

u/Nakida1 · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

My recommendation would be to get an adapter to use other controllers for the switch. The mayflash adapter ( https://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-Magic-NS-Wireless-Controller-Nintendo/dp/B079B5KHWQ) seems relatively popular.

There are a bunch of third party controllers as well, but if you can get relatively cheaper Xbox one controllers (sometimes around 20$ or so on sale), it's not a bad option.

u/ChuunibyouImouto · 1 pointr/Games

This thing lets you use PS4 or Xbox One controller with Switch. It is way cheaper than a pro controller, so if you already own another controller I didn't see the point in paying $60 for a Switch Pro controller

u/Mondblut · 1 pointr/Falcom

>I am currently having difficulty getting in to trails in the sky. I think it is mainly due to me being spoiled by most games working out of the box with the PS4 controller and I am stuck with point and click mouse controls (which aren't actually that bad).

Didn't know there are problems with controller compatibility. If you are OK with spending a bit of additional money, there are adapters for all sorts of controllers by the Taiwanese company Brook that (even though designed to connect a DS4 to a PS2 for instance) also work on PC. That's the one I'm using on my PC (though primarily bought for my PS2). I've tested SC and 3rd with it and it works like a charm. Since they have internal Bluetooth they instantly connect to your controller wirelessly. I can also recommend the PS3 to PS4 adapter by the same company. Here a link to their hompage. All adapter models seem to work on PC as well. I'd just recommend buying the adapter for the specific console you would like to use a DS4 (or DS3) on and use the PC compatibility as a bonus.

Edit: For some reason the Switch one doesn't have Bluetooth though. For that I recommend the Mayflash which should also work on PC like the Brook adapters (haven't tested PC functionality, I may test it when I get back from work today if you want, since I use one of these on my Switch). That one has Bluetooth.

Lots would recommend Mario Party. I've not played the new one but the previous ones were all very fun. Do note that it does require a pair of the joy-con controllers for each player due to special demands in some of the mini games.

You are a PlayStation guy, so instead of buying an expensive pro controller you can buy an adapter like this. I bought one for $20 and it lets me pair other Bluetooth controllers like the X-Box, Wii U, and PlayStation ones. Could save you money and give you something to use that you are more familiar with.
