Have you got a Gameboy (or DS!)? Any Gameboy will do! You got it?? Good!! Now, depending on the generation of Gameboy in your hand, follow one of these links:

Original -> Pokemon Red / Pokemon Blue / Pokemon Yellow - Pikachu Edition

Gameboy Color -> Pokemon Silver / Pokemon Gold / Pokemon Crystal

Gameboy Advance -> Pokemon Ruby / Pokemon Sapphire / Pokemon Emerald

Nintendo DS -> Pokemon Diamond / Pokemon Pearl / Pokemon Platinum

Nintendo DS -> Pokemon Black / Pokemon White

... and sort your life out!

EDIT: As people rightly pointed out, no 3DS Pokemon yet, fixed it!

  1. Soldering for the 101 mod is super simple, got it right on first try when it was my first time soldering.

  2. Repro screen in my unit works great, some people swear by the originals but I can't stomach the idea of ripping apart a perfectly good SP. Bought mine here. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L42ZIOQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_p0y-AbNPMV7S0

  3. Previous experience shouldn't be too much of an issue, GBA internals are very simple and this mod is a fairly good first project in my opinion.
u/misogichan · 10 pointsr/pokemon

It's available from amazon for $210, and this auction is currently at $150. Quite nice, but I was kind of expecting it to be more from all the enthusiastic comments.

u/cnostrand · 10 pointsr/pokemon

If Amazon listings are to be believed, new in box is listed at $164.

For some games (I believe) but for sure with the Game Boy Player, you can use a GBA along with the GBA-Gamecube link cable to use it as a wired controller.

This is the one. https://www.amazon.com/Link-Cable-Game-Boy-Advance-Gamecube/dp/B0000E5U6M?

AS/OR are still in production, so yeah, easy.

I recently did a calculation of all of the main series pokemon games if I bought them used on Amazon, the total was nearly 1000 dollars.

Even look at Pokemon Plat

u/Khrisiah · 3 pointsr/gamecollecting

Definitely a nice pickup, about 30+ dollars under normal retail prices ( the official GB Micro site has it listed at 99.99, Amazon at 116 ). I picked up an original GB Micro during their first run, definitely fun little devices !

For your Nugget Parlor

  • Paint: Acrylic paints and water colors are better than oils because they wash out of fabrics. When the paint is dry, you can use hairspray to hold the pain in place. If you want it to be forever, invest in some krylon spray.

  • Beads and hemp: This is the sort of thing you can collect over time. From now on, when you see cool beads, get them. Making bead jewelery is a fun way to spend an afternoon getting danked.

  • Coloring books, blank paper, colored pencils, markers, pens, pencils and pastels (you can hairspray the pastels too).

  • Kaleidoscope

  • A (plastic) tree with a string of Christmas lights in it for soft lighting.

  • One solid shelf of ossim books, with the obligatory squishy stuff to sprawl upon and read. Should include at least an atlas, an unabridged English dictionary (for balderdash!), a classic or two, a comic book, some olde time book from ages passed, some Dr. Seuss or other cherished children's books, maybe a book of DIY projects.

  • An original Game Boy with a few games (tetris, super mario, etc.) can be obtained for under $30 if you hunt on amazon.

  • A Buddha, of whatever variety.

  • If you are thinking about plants and you have a little cash to invest, consider getting a hydroponic herb garden. I know it sounds fishy, particularly in a Nugget Parlor, but fresh herbs can make a delicious meal unbelievable! (I might wait for the "elite" to come back into stock, because it lets your herbs grow taller than the regular one does.)

  • A vaporizer (if you don't already have one).

  • A hookah (also if you don't already have).

  • A garden gnome.

  • A witch's ball, some bells, an evil eye, a dream catcher and/or a horseshoe.

  • If pets, perhaps some pet entertainment like laser pointer, plastic milk jug ring, bone or weasle-on-a-ball.

  • A drum, thumb piano, shaker and/or harmonica

Keep us posted on how your den of iniquity turns out. Good luck!

Amazon has you covered.

I got this charger and it works perfectly. $6

I also replaced my micro's battery with this one, which made it run all day like brand new. $12.50

u/Quazifuji · 3 pointsr/pokemon

Yep. Gamestop has a lot of sucky business practices, but I don't think this is one of them. They're selling the games for the price people will pay. You can get it cheaper on Amazon, but that would require buying it from random sellers you've probably never heard of.

Some games become dirt cheap when they get old, others become collector's items and don't. Not really surprising that an old Pokemon game is in the latter category, given both the popularity of the game and that there's still motivation to buy it (I don't think you're the only one trying to pick it up to help complete the Pokedex).

u/Kriegan · 3 pointsr/RetroPie

Why not buy one of these?

u/SuperAwesomeBrian · 3 pointsr/pokemon

I would just like to point out that a brand new plastic sealed Pokemon Yellow is worth $400. Ebay that, buy a used one, replace battery, and good to go.

Amazon has Gameboy shells and there's a few tutorials available just takes a bit of work to get everything set

Edit: do you know what Pi you have? If you go to the retropie setup in the menu you should hopefully connect to wifi

u/THUNDARPAIG · 2 pointsr/Gameboy

Yeah I would second that - Just order a new shell on Amazon/Ebay (does not have to be Pikachu). I just re-shelled an SP today and it's way easier than a DS I can tell you that.

Gen I though...

u/Bowmance · 2 pointsr/gaming

If you think that's stupid, look at the price of pokemon games, There's 10+ year old GBA games that go for £30 and higher. Nintendo just simply doesn't have price decay on their core games.

Leaf Green retains value but Treasure Planet is certainly no Castlevania Double Pack. There are GBA and DS games that are worth $$$$ and going up but these are not them.

Kingdom Hearts and Phantom Hourglass might be worth something, I could see GameStop selling them for maybe $15 or $20 so they'd buy it for half-ish. Maybe he has a copy of The World Ends With You in the case?

But in any event a used, 'okay' condition Black DS Lite isn't worth more than ~$40 which is less than a good copy of Leaf Green. I call absolute BS on this, I wouldn't pay more than $75 for that pile of Lego games even with a DS thrown in.

u/infinitetheory · 2 pointsr/gaming

Well, the Amazon page has the black version starting at $68 used, and $298 new. The Famicom special edition is $220 at the cheapest I saw it. http://www.amazon.com/Game-Boy-Micro-Black-Advance/dp/B000AX224Y
I really want one, but I can't justify that..

Edit: if any of you people who have them but don't use them want to help out a college kid, I'm more than willing to enable your charity.. ;) I sold my DS a long time ago, and I love the GBA games I got for the 3DS Ambassador program, but.. I really want some Pokemon sapphire in my pocket. :(

Amazon is tough because you need to see a photo and most sellers won't post one. For fire red there's one for $46 that shows pics of the board and emerald has one for $58

u/Insanepaco247 · 2 pointsr/3DS

Seriously. At the end of the day, Nintendo is going to try to profit as much as possible, and when you realize that games like Pokémon Yellow are still selling for $23 used, without a working save function, the price suddenly doesn't seem so bad. Hell, even the Pokémon TCG video game is selling for $9 used at minimum, and that's if you ignore the cost of shipping and handling. You want that sucker new? I hope you've got nearly $300 to throw around.

The game may be old, but that doesn't mean it's suddenly in the public domain. If people want to pirate, let 'em, but they really shouldn't be bitching about Nintendo making it worth their time to port it, even without the fact that they're charging a lot less than they could be.

Whiplash! is one of my favorite games, I played the demo back in 2004 and I never stopped thinking about it! it's a great game on the ps2!

Also, back in 2004 I played a lot of my friends Game Boy Advance and he had Mario and Luigi Superstar Sega! That game was so great! It brought back a lot of memories when I recently played it!

Always gotta rely on the peeps that purchased before you, lol. They're good people!

u/ComfortablyMumm · 1 pointr/Gameboy

I'd recommend the GPA SP. Try to get the backlit 101 model, but if the price is a limitation, the 001 frontlit model isn't too bad. As others have said, the SP will give you access to way more games, and having a lit screen is nearly a necessity for me nowadays. As for the form factor, you can always get a grip for it that helps improve the ergonomics.
Here's the one I have, and I really like it (you can probably get it cheaper on eBay): https://www.amazon.com/Gameboy-Advance-Handy-Dual-Grip-Easier/dp/B002R9OXS2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1498231466&sr=8-1&keywords=gba+sp+grip

That's why eBay is a better place to figure out how much something is worth, because you can tell if people are actively trying to pay that much money for it or not. I mean I've seen listings on eBay where people are offering mint holo 1st edition Charizards for like $1000000, so you might think the card is worth that much because someone's selling it for that much, but if nobody's actually buying it...

On a related note, someone on Amazon is selling Ruby for $300. The description on that listing is so wrong, though.

> Start out with just 3 Pokemon

-?

> Over 350 new Pokemon are here to battle with, collect and trade

?? Hoehn only added a little over 130 new pokemon, and you can't even obtain all 386 Pokemon with just Ruby (and Sapphire) alone!

> New battle system allows trainers to take two Pok mon into battle instead of just one at a time

Well, yeah, but this description makes it sound like you can do that all the time, rather than in just a few battles.

> As you play you'll open up fun and exciting mini-games that advance the storyline

I have no idea what this is referring to. The only "mini-games" are the Contests and the slot machines, and neither of those advance the story at all.

> You can then groom your Pokémon for regional contests and compete for ribbons like "Best of Show,"

??? It's like somebody's mom wrote this based on really early release notes that were translated by fans.

u/Zirac88 · 1 pointr/Gameboy

Thanks for the help! Other than my 3DS, I've never heard any clicks coming from any of my systems, aside from the DS I mentioned in my post. So I just wanted to be sure!

Otherwise, do you have any recommended brands for a battery? From what I'm seeing on Amazon, some have mixed reviews, and others have generally positive reviews, such as this one. I don't seem to have the right size screwdriver to check the battery, and something like this comes with one, but I worry about getting a bad battery. From some reddit posts I found, users were saying DS batteries could also be used, but I don't want to damage the system at all somehow.

Thanks again for your help!

Really hard? There's plenty of places to buy the actual official game cart of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. Amazon's second and third party sellers are selling them for extremely affordable prices. Give them a look and stay as FAR AWAY from eBay as possible. There's a lot of sellers on eBay selling fakes like the one you have.

No problem! If you're interested in getting one they're not going for [much](Game Boy Advance SP Classic NES https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00023JJUW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_auTtyb97W57V0) used. New, they're pretty damn expensive

I don't trust ebay anymore. Got burned too many times and don't care enough to give it another shot.

I'm sure it'll be there too whichever Amazon is local to you.

u/meandthestereo · 1 pointr/gameswap

Yup, that's what I be saying. Yeh I can ship to that address. Is two OK? I gotta tell you though, I'm trying to find the legit "nintendo" brand ones, but its a little difficult to know for sure until you get the product. Do you think this one is legit?

u/Walker889 · 1 pointr/rpg_gamers

I don't think this meets all of your criteria, and finding a way to actually play it might be a bit of a pain - but Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for the Gamecube was one of my favorite co-op RPG games back in the day. It's got a beautiful, Gaelic atmosphere with lovely voice-over narration. The story is not intense, but it's there - it's more about building a world than it is about the plot, I think.

You can have up to four players, but there's not much in the way of consequences, it's not dark-fantasy (more high-fantasy, I think), no top down camera, and character advancement is relatively simple.

If you know about this game already, you probably know about how difficult it is to play. Each player needs a gameboy advance to use as a controller...I think an SP works too, but I'm not 100% sure. Then you'll need one of these for each player too: http://www.amazon.com/Link-Cable-Game-Boy-Advance-Gamecube/dp/B0000E5U6M

Similar to a DS, you keep track of some stats, a map, and other things on the GBA, using it as a second screen. You also get letters from your characters' family and other private events on the GBA screen. Otherwise it's just a controller - kind of gimmicky, but they did a few interesting things with it I guess.

Check out some youtube videos of gameplay if any of that catches your interest. The world is a lot of fun, and I think it has a unique style that is worth at least a glance.

I would love to get my son this hopefully for his bday or xmas. He really wants this but the prices are crazy so I might have to save a little longer to get him that! He's a teenager but he will always be my baby.I LOVE MY BABY!

Thanks for the contest..=)

Since people are selling them on Amazon for $40 shipped: Link

How does $30 shipped sound?

u/kyouteki · 1 pointr/wichita

Dunno about locally, but you can get it from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Link-Cable-Game-Boy-Advance-Gamecube/dp/B0000E5U6M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1348076137&sr=8-1&keywords=Game+boy+GameCube+cable

(Be sure to order the $8.88 one with fulfillment by Amazon!)

If you have Prime, you can get it on Friday for free, or tomorrow for $4. You can start a free Amazon Prime trial to get it on time.

u/Qu1nlan · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I will say 238 because I have no idea what else to say!

u/olivverr_ · 1 pointr/Gamecube

Yeah, I've heard third party GBA to GameCube cables don't generally work all that well. I think it has something to do with only transferring data one way?

If you go through the reviews, a lot of people who bought the cable on Amazon had the same problem: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/reviews/B00G2F1N80/ref=cm_cr_dp_mb_top?ie=UTF8

I'd recommend buying a used OEM one on eBay! It should cost about $15 or so.

> I'm definitely gonna have to try that link cable emulation though.

I've used VBA Link before for some other games (though I didn't think to try Four Swords at the time), and I'm pretty sure No$GBA supports link cable emulation as well. You'll probably need to fuss around a bit to get them connected, but it should work. As for your girlfriend, Four Swords is one of the easiest Zeldas anyway, and if you're playing along with her I bet she'll have some fun... ;)

EDIT: Oh, and Retroid Netplay for Android supposedly works really well too, though I haven't tried it myself. On the other hand, playing GBA games with virtual buttons on a touch screen feels extremely weird to me... :P

> Let me know if you ever want to sell any of those GBAs though! I'd love to have another one again.

Sorry, but I'd rather keep 'em. One was my first ever original model GBA, and another was a gift from a friend (so those have sentimental value), and I'm never giving up my GBA SP AGS-101 model (nothing compares to that gorgeous backlit screen)... <3

You can still find the original model for fairly cheap on amazon, if you're interested (though an SP will be more expensive, especially an AGS-101).

u/MegaPower124 · 1 pointr/gaming

I've got you covered. Unfortunately the games I assume you're talking about go for quite a pretty penny. Better hold out for a good flea market.

Are these acceptable Amazon listings? Seems really sketchy to list on the same product page as the game and compete with those prices but sell booklet only.

> That's impressive if you can read all that Japanese. Did you study it or did you just translate the page?

I studied it and used to be pretty good at it, but after not speaking/reading Japanese for over 2 years, I'm really bad at it now, unfortunately. I still can read lots of Kanji, though.

Thank you so much for the recipe! It appears as if this one was made by the same person who made the Pokéblocks guide (kakeru). :D This will be very helpful in the future!

> I'll check out my local gameshops and see if they have any copies I can pick up cheap. I do have a few extra memory cards and they shouldn't be that expensive to mail.

Oh my, that would be indescribably awesome! o_O I realised I need to buy an English game anyways. I have a German Ruby and a German Emerald only so far, so I'll probably should go for Sapphire. Or any other game, as long as the battery is still working.

I have also looked for the e-Reader and the cards on the internet and I actually found a cheap e-Reader and the one pack of cards I would need to get the crucial Nutpea berry (ラッカ) on amazon.com, but unfortunately shipping would cost me over £60 … :/ You wouldn't happen to be willing to have these two items shipped to you and then forward them to me, would you? (#__#)' I feel a bit stupid for asking but I can't bring myself not to mention it, I'm desperate …

> is there a list somewhere of the Pokemon you can get the purification ribbon for?

You can get the purification ribbon for every Pokémon that can be purified after you have snagged them in either Colosseum or XD. Here’s a list of snaggable Pokémon in Colosseum, and here’s a list of snaggable Pokémon in XD. If you want a special Pokémon, the capture guide for XD by Smogon could be useful.

> If you need help with any berries on 4th Gen just let me know. I just recently got them all and have been planting and growing them like crazy.

I'm missing #57, #58, #62, #63 and #64. Do you actually have all of them, I mean, all 64 of them? ô_ô Would be so happy if I could get all of them! Is there anything I could help you with? I'm more than willing to give back!

PS: I've read some of your other posts so far. You seem to really know what you're doing and to enjoy the games a lot. I like that, as I see myself as someone playing like this too. Very soothing to know there are others out there; I sometimes get the feeling everyone's just liking the 'story' so much, having huge problems with Gym leaders and the Elite 4, never really looking into the games deeper, and then starting all over again after 40 hours or so (which is perfectly fine, of course, just very different from how and why I play) … :S

Edit: grammar, berries in Gen IV

It looks like it's going for $25 on Amazon. So, 2000?

u/light_twin · 1 pointr/pokemon

I was going to say to try your luck at your local GameStop, but those are probably the first to go in the used section. If you wanna try online, Amazon should work. I'd suggest looking for sellers with a high reputation. Besides that, if it happens to be bootleg by chance, Amazon should have you covered so your money shouldn't go to waste. You'll just want to make sure you buy and check the game in advance (no pun intended).

Ok I think I found you 2 legit cartridges judging by the comments on Amazon. They are both under $/£35 B-) http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00028S9P8 - Leaf Green with free GBA adapter. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0006GBD04 - Leaf Green by itself. Hoped this helped :-D
