I got this kit from Amazon.

It comes with 4 led strips, and fuse taps for a couple different sized fuses, along with an led controller, full function remote, as well as keychain remote. Hands down the best value I could find.

Wired up the fronts a few months back, but didn't have time to do the back seat along with the fronts (with 2 kids there isn't much time for anything)

To power: fuse tap on the drivers side fuse panel to F17. Ground to the bolt that is right in that same area. I also tucked the controller away in that same location with some 3m double sided adhesive.

Lights: drivers side was easy. Figure out where you want the lights (helps to plug them in and have them lit up so you can mess w placement til you find what you like) then 3m/zip tie/etc to the spot. Passenger side: I popped off the center console trim and ran the wires across that to reach passenger front foot well. Same thing...mess with placement, when good, attach.

For the backseat: pulled out rear seat cushion, and trim along the drivers side rocker panel up to the fuse box. Zip tie the cables together, and run along the channel that's right there, then along the front of the rear seat area just behind the cushion. End of the wiring terminates in the middle of the seats just behind center console. Put rear seat back in, climb back there and plug in led strips to find placement. Used a few dabs of hot glue to attach them to the bottom of the seat.

And that's that. This kit is so simple that it is really a painless install, you just gotta make sure you run the wiring neatly, and secure it along any runs to either the dash, another wire loom, etc, so it doesn't fall out. Tuck the excess up into the fuse panel and call it a day!

Painting was a two step process. I first taped off the eyes and the cracks on the sides of the skull and sprayed with black spray paint. Then I taped off the remainder of the base and sides and painted with a hammered nickle spray paint.

I have a 2015 LE as well! Got into modding last year. I started with cosmetic modifications and slowly into performance on a budget.

Cosmetic:
- Rubber Front Lip and Sideskirts $12 each side
- Window Visors $42
- Headlight Eyelids $20
- Rear Window Spoiler : $40
- Trunk Spoiler Rubber$15

Electrical:
- LED Foglights $32
- LED Strip Sequential Turn Signals $18
- LED Turn signal switchbacks, requires a resistor and tapping into turn signal wires
- LED Interior Bulbs $6

Performance:
- TRD Exhaust $400 used. Made my car a joy to drive! Other great cheaper options are Borla $350, and J2 $250. I got the TRD for the balanced deep tones and didnt want to be pulled over for 3rd party exhaust ( I live in Cali).
Super budget ebay exhaust is available too! $85 : Sounds decent, join the 11th gen corolla group on facebook to see and hear videos
- Spectre Short Ram Intake $150: Great sound from engine and increased torque
- Megan Racing Rearsway bar $110: If you like hugging corners while turning this does wonders for reducing bodyroll. I have way more confidence on tight turns!

A typical jack-o-lantern for candy is actually very roomy. You can easily fit what the other redditor suggested. Personally, I'd go the most simple route and even cheaper route.

You can use this Automotive LED Strip and bundle it up into the cavity of the lantern. It is easily powered by a single 9v battery. It comes in 4 strips of about 12" long. I've used 2 of these on a single 9v battery with a decently bright output. I imagine you may only need 1 strip balled up (with the LEDs facing outward) inside the lantern. The resistors are already built into the strips and the battery should last the entire day for you. Add a switch on the outside of the lantern somewhere to turn it off when you're not in any photo ops and you're sure to last the entire weekend with it.

Lighting: I have a tailgate LED strip that does flowing turn signals and blinking brake lights. You've probably seen them around on Wish or Amazon (Not this one specifically, but very similar)

I've got a pair of LED runningboard lights to add that I'm going to wire to Turn Signals and Interior Lights, so when you unlock or open the doors (or turn on the domes) you'll get a courtesy light on the ground.

I've already installed the LED footwells, but havent finished hooking them up yet, just need to ground and plug into the fuse box.

I have the Trailhawk so the exterior lights are already pretty great, I'll probably upgrade the running lights to something brighter to match the headlights and foglights.

I do not have plans to do lightbars just yet... I think it would look too tryhard. What I might do instead is to get one with magnetic bases on either side, or goes on the roof rails so I can remove it if I'm not offroad...running it through the Cigarette Lighter doesn't bother me since it would be in/out temporary.

I'm going to install a CB and run a firestick antenna off the rear tailgate. I have one ready to go... but I'm looking at smaller ones that I can hide all but the handset. I don't have LOTS of use for one, but I'm an 80/90's kid and I HAVE been saved from driving into a Tornado by one before.

The hitch carrier is my first choice anyway, good looking out on the gas mileage.

The Cold Air Intake is partly about the sound (the Tigershark 2.4 sounds a little too...mousey for me at the moment), and for possible fuel mileage savings once I get used to the new sound and don't step on it just to hear it growl.

The Exhaust will probably be a custom job from my dads mechanic. I've known the guy my whole life and just found out he has a "state-of-the-art" pipe bending machine in his new shop and does custom exhausts. I'm looking for airflow (for MPG's) and a new muffler with again... a more meaty, growly sound (without being super annoying).

So much of a list... but I want it to mostly appear Stock unless I'm doing something with the accessories. Thus my wishy washyness on adding a guard to the front end. We definitely have a Whitetail issue where I live and it would be nice to possibly be fine after hitting one instead of having thousands in damage to repair.

i just installed an opt7 aura kit, the control has an optional wire to hook into the dome light, i think its what your looking for.
for 45$ its pretty great, colors are quality the adhesive & kit is complete, just don't get psyched when you see the music matching button.
https://www.amazon.com/OPT7-Smart-Color-Strip-Interior-Lighting/dp/B00OU5LOT2

They also sell an underglow and wheelwell kit that i recall someone mentioning that they could be controlled together...

u/Pacatrack · 2 pointsr/teenagers

These are the lights on the interior. They come with an adapter for a car charger / cigarette lighter, but if you want to wire it to your fuse box, which I recommend (much cleaner looking), you need to buy a fuse tap.

To use a fuse tap, the positive (red) wire connects to the tap and the negative connects to the ground of the car battery. It should come with basic instructions, though.

u/redisant · 2 pointsr/XVcrosstrek

Amazon has affordable kits with mostly good reviews. I haven't gone this route my self so I can't speak personally to the quality. Here's one kit I found but there may be others if you search around.

i just got this [underbody light for my jeep] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IP8W254/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and it comes with a blue tooth app that lets you control it remotely! I am hoping I can tie it to tasker somehow - autoinput maybe? To do several scenes that are both corny and cool - like flash the lights when I walk up to the car using bluetooth proximity or even a stunt mode where the colors change based on either how fast im driving , or turn red when I stop or green when I go. Any other ideas? am I barking up the right tree?

u/REVIGOR · 1 pointr/4Runner

Probably some COB LED strips like this one.

u/PhyscoCat · 1 pointr/fordfusion

I added some extra footwell/under seat led's recently. It was super easy, just time consuming and can be annoying if you're a bigger guy/gal. I'm 6' and had a little trouble bending in strange ways to get into the pedal area to mount the box and one of the lights, as well as connect the fuses. It was then super easy to pull off the center console siding and run the cables into the back and across to the passenger side. I think it looks great. There is about 2" of visible cable in the back to account for the seats moving back and forth, but other than that I installed then in about 2 hours with no problems.

I used [this] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00OU5LOT2/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1496207734&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=opt7&dpPl=1&dpID=51s2zulxQbL&ref=plSrch) kit and I'm impressed with the build quality and everything else. The only issue is that you'll need to get a micro fuse adapter and either solder it or splice it into the power cable.

I'll update this post with some day and night pictures tomorrow night.

I found [these](OPT7 Aura Smart-Color LED Strip Interior Lighting Kit (4 Items) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OU5LOT2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_VBjDybYB1D1R2) and I think I'm gonna pull the trigger. Out of all the kits, these have the best reviews and they come with a fuse attachment you just plug into the fuse box to have them on with ignition, etc. I was looking and apparently I can remove the panels to the side of your legs (right leg for driver and left for passenger) pretty easily and just run the wire through and then close it back up. Plug into the fuse box and done. They have some stupid sound sensing stuff, but you don't have to use it. You can steady any color, strobe, dim, or cycle through etc. Just a thought, but from what I've looked into for myself, these seem the most hassle free. I have a link to the workshop manual that explains how to remove these panels, but it's for a 14. But, I imagine those center panels didn't change much. Let me know if you need it. I'd have to get it from my laptop for you.

Forgot to mention, I have to get one with a dimmer. I tested if I would even like illumination so I bought a. couple of stick on LEDs and stick them in my footwells and it's pretty distracting, so I may end up running them only to the door being opened. Anyway just a thought if you're not 100% sure you want them, you can grab those stick on LEDs for like $2 to test it out first.

I purchased this and installed myself in the first month of owning:

OPT7 Aura Smart-Color LED Strip... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OU5LOT2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Very easy install and looove the added light (red/blue are my most common) while driving at night. Conveniently, you can change it on the fly to fit your mood! I installed all 4 strips, one for each floor well, wires are all hidden, and came with a relay tap so no need to bother with hard wiring or using a 12v other adapter 👌

Sure,

I got something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Zone-Tech-Flexible-Waterproof-Light/dp/B00D1ASSY6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1414545078&sr=8-3&keywords=red+led+strips

They're very easy to work with, you can cut them to the length you need and they'll still light. I used one strip per eye, put them in parallel with a single A23 battery and a switch.

If you're trying to avoid soldering that all together which would be ideal, there are some small tube things (can't think of the name) you can buy at radioshack which you feed both wire ends through and then clamp down on it with a wire crimper.

The battery did go in the mask along with the switch, both were housed in in the mouth area and fit pretty easily. A23's are pretty tiny themselves, and you can find pretty minimal battery holders like this http://www.amazon.com/5Pcs-Battery-Clip-Holder-Black/dp/B00ABRQYPM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1414548326&sr=8-1&keywords=a23+holder

You commented on one of my comments about 9 days ago, and here is a link to the lights I was thinking about getting. I was considering running the wiring to the cig charger in the center console, and ask my engineer friend for a way to hide the wiring so it goes shines on the floor at a dim brightness (these can adjust brightness), and have it fade between colors.

As for the cig charger I was going to get a splitter so I would have 1 of 4 occupied by the floor lights and then the 3 left open.

I just need to figure out whether the cigarette lighters turn off when the car does, so I know whether I can leave it plugged in or if I will have to keep unplugging and plugging it in accordingly.

It's really, really easy to add your own ambient lighting to the Focus (or any car really). Most LED strips are already 12v. They'd need an adapter from house wall power but in a car (the vast majority of them anyway) the 12V circuits are already there! If you're concerned about your own electrical knowledge they make kits too; they're pretty inexpensive and you could splice open that cigarette adapter line to wire it in directly or get something like this. Personally I'd buy my own strips, controllers, and hard wire it though (make sure you confirm controller works with your strip). Since you're in the footwell I'd also recommend weatherproof but it's not super necessary since it won't be directly exposed.

You could tap in to an accessory line/fuse to have them always on or get fancy and wire them in to the dash lighting for when the headlights are on so that they only come on at night. I just used these fuse taps the other day for a dash cam and radar detector install; make sure you have the right fuses for your install though. I had to pickup some lower amperage ones to properly protect my lower amperage gear.

Some LED strip lighting is easy to adhere or screw down depending on your preference and you can even get RGB and an IR/RF/bluetooth controller to customize.

Anyway, the whole thing should take nothing more than an hour or two and less than $100 in parts.

I'm a little bit hood when I'm working at home, lol. I have some of these little offroad lights (maybe not those exactly, but similar). I ran some wire with alligator clips on the end so I just hook them to the car battery. They last for-freaking-ever on that big battery, and they're pretty bright. I attach them to little countersunk magnets so I can stick em just about anywhere, like on the hood of a car. In the winter I stick them on the ROPS on my little tractor so I can putter around before sunrise/after sunset and move snow (if it ever snows again).

u/JankyS13 · 0 pointsr/electricians

Don't think that diagram is viable for the harness that comes with the lighting system. More so if you take into consideration that OP is having problems with a simple install. As the ground goes directly to the control box itself, where there is a harness that goes from the control box to each light. OP needs to get a 2 pole switch, instead of a 3 pole. Harness should go from the battery to the control box. Harness would be to be cut, having a 2 pole switch used as an interrupt. The ground itself should be connected at the battery, considering that the picture the manufacture provided is accurate to what came with the kit.

u/Bordichelly · 0 pointsr/Volvo

URGENT here. Get your engine pressure tested to make sure it is not a blown head gasket. I own a 2006 volvo s40 t5 AWD. And I had misfires out the ass for months and I finally found it it was the head gasket. Luckily I know a volvo mechanic personally and he did the head gasket repair for 2,500$. But before you do that I would take each coil and look to see if there is any evidence of arcing (a sort of burnt coloring on the side) that also may cause misfiring) as for cosmetics I put a whole new stereo system in my car including a head unit in the glove box so I can play my own music. Plus I put all new alpine speakers in each door and ran power from the firewall (located behind the glove box) to the trunk for 2 subwoofers. I also put color changing led lights under the dash where the driver and passenger sits, and in the back seat. It pulses to the music http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000I04Z7Q/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_FPM4tb13FSX2W . People love it. You can only do the head unit replacement if you don't have the center speaker in the dash( because its all fiber optics). I put new rims on it. And dipped them. I also blacked out my tail lights and spaced out my letters. Heres a picture. http://i.imgur.com/3xEReGG.jpg
I hope this helped. :)
