It takes ~130W H4 headlight lamps, and runs for 33/20 minutes per charge on an internal 7Ah SLA battery.

It's my poor man's Lotus...

I got these from Amazon, which is where just about everyone gets them I think. These particular ones are the Aukmak ones. The halos are super bright, but the headlights themselves aren’t the brightest and the highs don’t project. I went to the beach at night and the road out is very dark in some places.

I also had to tie these into the drl/turn signals so I have hyperflash right now. Any 7” Jeep headlight works though, and I’m very happy with these overall.

So it is actually a 3 part ordeal.

The actual fog lights since my car didn't come with them, and the stalk. Then I did some c-shaped drl since I have leds in my high beams and the factory drl doesn't work with leds, but then the c-shaped drl didn't work for a little bit so I bought the drl turn signals, and then the previous c-shaped ones started working again. I had my rims done by a local company, they are the factory 16" painted gloss black. My mazda emblem is actually a long story, but essentially it is just scuffed up with sand paper ready to be painted but I liked the look and stuck it back on the way it is. I have also installed car play, and 3D printed a shift knob. The factory bose system was a little lacking and put a small under seat sub in to help fill the sound, but am still not happy with it, so that's a future project.

This is the kit. I wouldn't say it's OEM quality, and I can't give it a full review since I just got it yesterday, but it seems all good right now. The lights are nice and bright and worked right away. You'll also need the light control stalk that has the fog light switch, which is also plug and play.

I'm not OP, but I've had great success using the Meguiars kit on 3 different cars. Been using the Headlight Protectant about once a month, and they are staying clear. Someone below mentioned clear coating them after restoring, which is probably a better long-term solution.

I also got the Subispeed harnesses, but I didn't use them because I deleted the stock turn signal bulb.

And I think that's it. Be sure to wear nitrile gloves too to avoid finger prints.

Also take your time. Don't paint the high beam housing unless you have another plan for those like a second projector.

Hey, crutchfield has stereos and the wiring etc. Sometimes they are as much as 30 percent higher in price, but you will narrow down your search quick. Also, I got some great LED headlights/fog/markers off Amazon. They work great and we're only 100 bucks.

And the install was easy. The headlights come with a pigtail and plugs directly into the original wiring harness socket. The low beams are brighter than my old high beams.

I still have to wire in the turn signals to the new headlights and figure out how to hook up the Daytime Running Lights. But I'm impressed at how easy it was, and how well they work.

Don't recommend, they're junk. Water gets inside over time:

If you search "7 inch rgb headlights" on Amazon, most of them should fit. I did have to bend the headlight housings a bit to get these particular ones to fit, but I've seen a couple users post ones that fit without modification. You might want to look for their posts if you don't want to bend the housings, although it only really adds an extra 5 minutes to the install time.

I recognized it! I use one of these when working the West Texas oilfields.

I've used the kit a couple of times before, but this time it looks like theyve changed up the procedure. They still have the standard sandpaper that you use with the drill, but they no longer include the polish/compound or polishing pad. After using the highest grit, it gives you a coating to cover the headlight while it is still cloudy. After 2 coats the headlight looks crystal clear. The coating claims to last "4x longer!" but doesnt say how long it should actually last for.

It has all the items that FlicrPaul mentioned, plus a "protective clearcoat". I'm going to try it on my compass, after I work through a bunch of other things on my ToDo list.

I've personally used CarPro DLUX on black plastic trims and its fantastic!

The cars at home are basically new so I can't vouch for anything, but opti-lens is designed for headlights. That said, if you can afford the time and handiness, it would be better to just repaint a clear coat on them.

Don't forget to apply UV headlight sealant after compounding her lights. I think this will offer the biggest improvement in effective visibility in terms of lighting. Then yes change the bulbs, they dim out over time as the tungsten vapors from the filament coat the inside of the headlight bulb glass. Personally I would just get some Sylnvania XtraVision bulbs instead of those 'high performance' burnouts like SilverStars and Osram NightBreakers. The way halogen bulbs work is, 10% overpowered from normal design decreases bulb life to just 1/3 life, and 10% underpowered from normal wattage will increase bulb life by 3 times.

Very nice! At one point I had bought the ones linked below. Zero light output, after one day they had a half cup of water inside, and required different bulbs than stock. Returned them instantly. I like yours a lot better, might have to invest in a set.

Same, I've had the car for three weeks and have been debating it the whole time. I read that you can reuse it, and after opening it did seem fine enough to reuse but I didn't want to risk it, resealed it with Mirimoto Retrorubber Butyl sealant

I have the link below. It's a generic Chinese LED light for $57. Install was somewhat difficult, as you have to retrofit it. The 919 headlight assembly is somewhat proprietary, but a 7" does fit. I had to order a '79 CB500 headlight ring from 4into1.com, as it's a universal 7" ring. You then have to clip/dremel off the tabs on top of the bucket, drill an additional hole on top for a top screw, and drill holes for the side screws, as the original screw holes do not line up. After that, you can install it, and I filled the gaps on the sides where the stock screws were with Flex-Seal and you can't tell that I had to drill additional holes.

Seriously, $14 and less than an hour. Though sealing the lens in a little more expensive. I just did mine this past weekend: before and after. Sealed them with Optilens which is pretty expensive, but supposed to last the life of the car.

"Fixable" and "easy" do not go hand in hand here.

My Thorens cover is better than it was, but still not great: I used a Maguiar's headlight polishing kit on it.

Did wonders! Did NOT remove deep scratches, and the only way to do that is with sandpaper. I basically got bored and didn't go back.

Meanwhile a friend who had a JVC table like my QL-A2 asked me to polish his cover. Damned if the thing didn't look brand spanking new...almost. The inside corners are a screaming bitch to get to, and the polish etches the plastic when you leave it on too long. I went through a whole freaking box of Q-Tips and got it to a pretty good sheen, but DAMN that sucked.

Anyway: fixable, YES. Easy: not really yes.

EDIT: You might ask far, far smarter people than me about this procedure. I intend to get my Thorens cover cleaned up when I quit being so lazy about it. I need advice: there may be a WAY better idea out there.

Maybe try the stuff you use on headlights? Obviously wash them really well before you put them back on your child's feet, but it's worth a shot?

It'd be more cost-effective to polish the outside of your lamps. I know they're probably yellowed as fuck, since it's a 10+ year old car. Get something like this and go HAM with a drill.

Then, replace the existing HID bulbs with a Philips XV D4S for better performance and whiter light.

Steps I took:

• Reassembled glass back on. Applied pressure with some clamps. Reheated in oven.
  
• Reassembled.
  
• Called SparkSmith and they recommended I purchase 5500k HIDs and paired harness. (Great guys btw)
  
• Installed.
  
  This took me 3 months to get done, mistakes inclusive. Because I live a VERY busy lifestyle. You could do it with my advice in two weeks and one dedicated day, shipping time included.

You need to protect it somehow.

original headlights will typically have a protective layer above that you have sanded off now.

I just got the amazon cheap-o ones called Turbo SII LEDs and they are pretty darn good. They dont cast light out as far as I would like, but they are better than stock and look great. I zip tied the adapter because the plug didn't seem to secure perfectly. I have no complaints really. They were plug and play. They were $113 and now they are $95. I would recommend them as a budget friendly solution that look awesome.

I've used this a couple of times and it's worked wonders.

FYI, instead of paying 100s for new lights, you can spend 15-20 bucks and buy sanding kits for your lights to make them more clear. You tape around your lights with painters tape and you put the special buffers onto a drill and after about an hour you got clear lights. There are multiple kinds you can get, but here's one off of Amazon.com.

I haven't really had any major issues with them yet, but It's only been a few weeks. The instructions are pretty godawful so you have to get clever if you want to get the amber blinking turn signals working. But if you just want normal headlight functionality they are super easy to install.

Sure thing! This is the set I got.

When you go to install them, you'll probably find your fog lights don't work at all because the polarity is reversed on the fog light's connector. Instead of cutting wires and splicing like other reviews on Amazon recommend, you can use a very sharp set of tweezers to grasp on either side of the pin to disengage its lock, side it out of the connector, and swap the pins within the connector. If you have trouble doing this during the install, feel free to ping me.

The headlights snap into a couple grooves in the headlight assembly. You might find that they don't quite fit into the grooves, and if so, you'll have to file down the headlight (preferred, but removes the anti-rust coating), or modify the headlight assembly. I opted to file down the headlight, inserting it first from the bottom, and noting that the inner portions of the tabs were hitting the outside of the grooves. After a few tries, I got it to fit in snugly.

Also, since I have the AEV front bumper, I can't remove my grill. This wasn't an issue, I was able to unsnap it and get it sort of out of the way and do the install with it still hanging there.

Finally, don't forget to aim your headlights afterwards (and probably foglights, too; mine are a little bit low still). There are a bunch of good guides out there. I ended up aiming mine about 6 inches lower than recommended because I'm lifted 4.5" and I don't want to blind people as much when I pull up behind them in traffic.

Yeah, the combo kit was cheaper than the individual headlight and bucket separately.

The high beam on this kind of sucked so I actually wired my high beam wire to the wire that triggers an amber colored ring. I use it to signal people when I'm passing flashing while lane splitting. I think it's less obnoxious than a high beam.

The mounting was a bit of a pain to, had to bend the metal brackets to fit around the tube. Luckily I had a old fork that was bend and I was going to trow away. I use that to mold the metal around it since I didn't care if I damaged it.

Are you sure you used the kit correctly? I restored my beater's headlights with Megiuar's G3000 kit and the turnout was pretty good. The thing is, the entire process took me about 30 minutes of sanding per headlight (I was a bit timid with it at first).

Additionally, headlights need to have UV protection on them or the hazing will come back. The gel stuff that comes with the kit will only last about 1 month before you need to re-apply it. Your best bet is to apply a longer lasting product like Opti-Lens to ensure permanant protection.

As someone with an older truck, with plastic headlights that get that haze over them. Meguiars Headlight Restoration kit had mine cleaned up and looking/functioning like new.

Also, my black plastic fender flares had oxidized, and hitting them with a magic eraser got them back to looking new.

Amazon is definitely hit and miss. I’ve had this one for a few years now on my 83 Goldwing. I highly recommend it. Some guys at Sturgis we’re wondering how I got a daymaker on my Honda...lol

These are sold under many different brand names and I would not go for them as they are most likely not DOT approved, and QC is lacking. Maybe your guy has ones that have better chips but in general most are pretty shotty. I see these same housings being marketed on Instagram all the time, $250 is the normal ask but they can be had for much cheaper on amazon.

It is light shaped and has the leg system you described as far as I can tell.
I am having trouble finding an older version, but hopefully this is a start.

They were some of the best reviewed on Amazon. For fifty bucks I took a chance and they have been great so far. If anything, they may be too bright, but then again, I havent had any complaints.

I thought about it some more and I think white light will grow on me. I was looking at this headlight in Amazon and I think I'd like it.

The specs say it will work with 12V, which is what my headlight voltage is. My power is 60/55W while the replacement one is 80W for the fixture.

I'm guessing this wouldn't work with my bike?

They won't. You need a 5x7 / 7x6 headlight. The 4x6 is a smaller light.

I did find some on Amazon that look pretty good. I don't know anything about them though. I searched for "5x7 headlight halo"

Also clear head lights; the difference between clear and foggy lenses is amazing.

Cloudy vs clear and yellowed vs clear for reference; the sides with clear lenses look a few years newer.

it seems to have all good reviews, the ones from rock auto are pretty nice too, you also try to measure the opening and see if you could fit something like this, I have a 23 inch led bar between the fog lights and two square ones in my rear bumper, ill ask my sister to grab pictures for me as the truck is sitting at her house while i'm away.

You may actually be able to find some pre-built projector housings for yours. I looked and looked and looked, and the only pre-built projector housings I could find for the Vue were for year models 07 and up. Mine's an 03.

So I had to build mine. And the parts I used were pretty cheap so you might save money just building your own anyways.

The paint I used was just a can of Rustoleum semi gloss black I got at Walmart for a few bucks.

I also purchased a separate set of headlights to do all this with, as this was my first time. I wanted to be able to take as much time as I needed with it. I can also easily switch back to stock at any time for whatever reason. I would suggest you do the same, if you're planning on building them.

To get them apart, I preheated our kitchen oven to 220 degrees. I lined an old baking pan with a wet towel and set the headlight on it, then put it in the oven for 10 minutes. This will soften the sealant enough so that you can pry the light housing apart.

Then when you're done with all of your modifications, remove as much of the old sealant you can and then line the edges of the housing with the new sealant. Heat it up like before and compress it back together.

I purchased https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M09C4FQ on feb 8th, amazon states. These are diffferent ones than the LXLights you posted, different model. I find that these project light pretty well down the road, much much better than the stock high beams did. I think the lows on this model were rated at like 2800LMS.

I got them on amazon. They seem pretty good so far and they took maybe an hour to install.

I don't necessarily agree that you have to upgrade the harness to get good lighting. For the price, LED headlights are readily available and have great results versus the stock halogen bulb. These are what I run and I have no complaints with them on my 99. They are 100% plug and play with the stock harness. Just pull the old lights out and plug the new ones in.
