My goodness, I apologise everyone for the spam. I made my post and it didn't show up in my history and I couldn't find it on the subreddit so I figured it didn't post, it seems like they all had gotten delayed or something. Regardless here is the link!

Drive Logic DL-64-BK Portable EVA Hard Drive Carrying Case Pouch, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003VVH8Y6?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

It's $18 on Amazon... brb

u/blackice85 · 13 pointsr/DataHoarder

Personally I'd opt for something like this

https://www.amazon.com/ORICO-External-Multi-Protection-Carrying-Briefcase/dp/B0714BK6RX/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=orico+hdd+case&qid=1550417644&s=gateway&sr=8-3

It's not cheap, but it's a lot less than damaged drives and lost data.

u/_quickman · 13 pointsr/pocketoperators

Here’s the link.

Great cheap case that fits the PO perfectly, with a handy pocket for headphones/cables/extra batteries etc. Case itself has some structural reinforcement - not exactly a hard plastic case but not a soft case, either. Overall, I feel pretty comfortable throwing this in my bag or jamming it in my pocket without worrying about damaging the PO. Made a slight modification by slicing the elastic band with an x-acto knife, this was just so the knobs could poke through and I wouldn’t have to stretch the elastic above or below them. I seriously doubt that would even cause an issue but I’m just paranoid like that.

If you own a PO and you have $7 to spare, you should own this case.

u/natelanz · 11 pointsr/electronic_cigarette

Same KFL case from yesterdays thread, but I made some adjustments and fit a 2x 18650 case in as well, and it fits perfect. Great case for a day out and about. Case on Amazon if anyone is interested.

u/walkie26 · 10 pointsr/pocketoperators

The Amazon Basics case for My Passport hard drives is cheap and just about the perfect size. My wife had one for her backup drive, but now it's my PO travel case. :-)

Your tutorials are excellent. Both the written and video parts are very clear and specific.

I only have one tinyyyyy suggestion. After putting in all that work I'd be really bummed out if I bumped against something and damaged the sequencer. You might want to consider putting the circuit boards in something like this within the pocket. Especially at clubs or festivals where you're liable to get knocked into by someone. AmazonBasics has a whole range of sizes. You could even cut a hole for the sound sensor and put the rest of it inside.

u/RedditIsNotThatGood · 7 pointsr/EDC

Hard drive cases are nice and cheap, although slightly technical looking.

This is what I use Amazon. It's a portable harddrive case. I only had to replace it because my cat shit on it.

No clue about tamper protection, but this is a storage case for 20 drives that looks pretty substantial.

This is the Amazon Basics carry case for "My Passport" external hard drives - it's $5 and fits a cased Pocket Operator really well! There's enough vertical clearance for the knobs but not so much that it's flopping around in there, and feels pretty nicely in place when it's zipped up! Just thought I'd pass along in case anyone else was looking for a similar solution!

u/RiggityRow · 5 pointsr/craftymighty

Due to bag rummaging I tried putting a lot of stuff in zip lock bags so it was easier to take 4-5 bags out than dump a pile of shit out. The TSA guy said "Wow, you are unusually organized." So when it was put back it wasn't a giant mess. I'm experimenting this trip with using hard cases like these instead: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01E70SBB8/

I'll give you my personal method and a friend's personal method. I personally carry between 2-6 at a time most days, so I use this:

https://www.amazon.com/Electronics-Organizer-JOTO-Management-Accessories/dp/B01FD6D59I/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?keywords=joto&qid=1566819516&s=gateway&sr=8-8

The straps securely hold the Vpets and I slip the whole thing into my bag (I have a small bag meant for carrying a tablet and accessories). This prevents them from knocking around.

Several of my friends use headphone cases, like these.

https://www.amazon.com/Sunmns-Earphone-Headphone-Carrying-Carabiners/dp/B071934DWD/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?keywords=headphone+case+sumns&qid=1566819696&s=gateway&sr=8-1-spell

Big enough to hold one Vpet safely, a lot of people really love these.

u/GIS-Rockstar · 2 pointsr/photography

Consider a hard drive case for a little added protection.

u/IronWolve · 2 pointsr/computertechs

I too was thinking of using a tactical bag, loads of room, lots of pockets and I love the look. But I decided to go another way and use a leather briefcase that will be a hand me down to my kids.

With the lack of pockets, but so much room, I picked up Amazon basic hard case zipper containers to go inside. Plus some zipper bags for usb drives and cables. for usb drives and cables.

u/torontoitguy · 2 pointsr/techhelp

Do this first and then just use it with this and you just scored yourself an external HDD :D

u/finglongerUK · 2 pointsr/techsupport

if you have a desktop you could connect the HDD direct to the motherboard if you have spare power and sata cable

or you could use a USB > sata adapter or USB disk enclosure to connect the HDD externally

Free USPS Shipping Boxes lined up like books on Costco / Home Depot plastic shelving. Flat-rate Priority Mail boxes are the perfect size for small computer parts, cables, etc. Box - 1 is great for larger items. I leave the tops open so something doesn't have to actually fit in the box, just enough of it to stay in the box. Best of all, they deliver the boxes to your house for free :-)

An assortment of anti-static bags, zipper-style ziplock bags, cable ties, and Sharpies are also handy to have around. Did you know that "ziplock" anti-static bags are a thing? I love those...

My only real complaint about the Wii U is lack of internal storage, as I like to buy digital. I bought this caddy and put an old PS3 HDD in and it works fine

I love the convenience of just being able to play a game, rather than swapping disks around.

For a point of reference, Nintendo games seem to be just under 2gb (Mario 3D World, Wind Waker), 3rd party seem to be around 15gb (Assassins Creed 4, Batman Origins), indie/eshop titles are less than 1gb (Guacameele, Pullbox) and virtual console titles are less than 100mb (Mario World, A link to the past, super metroid)

I'm sure there are exceptions of larger/smaller titles in my examples above, but I hope it helps as a rough example.

u/dramamine94 · 2 pointsr/ploompax

u/chicken-butt · 2 pointsr/flying

I bought an electronic gear organizer sleeve from Amazon. I use a "nicer" backpack from Costco as a flight bag and put the sleeve in one of the laptop compartments.
The sleeve holds my battery for the Stratux, various cords, etc. I leave the battery in the bag and run a cable to my Statux when needed in flight.

It also holds a wall charger so that when I get home I plug a short 1 foot extension cable into the charger, then connect the battery to the charger, then my iPad to the battery (outlet>extension cord>wall charger>battery>iPad). Now my iPad is always charged and my shit stays organized.

The backpack itself has plenty of room for the rest of my gear.

You can also use anti-static bags, the thin bags that are used to shield PCB's during transport and storage.

They are made of a metalized film, and if you toss your phone in one it will lose service until you take it out.

*Edit: You don't need to utterly destroy your hardrive unless you are disposing of it, most likely. Don't do so when you can just take the drive out and send it for repairs without it. You can also use the mentioned adapters to remove questionable stuff before sending your disk away with your laptop, assuming you don't mind taking it out and attaching it to another computer. On most laptops, removing the disk is a five minute process.

There are basically 2 kinds of laptop hard drives (there are more, but 2 that generally matter). The only important bit is how it connects to the machine. In the vast, vast majority of any vaguely recent machine, it will be one of these. Even if it isn't, it often really IS, just with a special casing making it less obvious.

Laptops more than 6 or so years old may still have IDE interfaces. Here's an enclosure to drop these in in order to attach them via USB to any other computer and extract data from them: http://www.amazon.com/External-Enclosure-Case-Blue-Laptop/dp/B000FNBYKW

Newer laptops will have sata. Here's the enclosure for that: http://www.amazon.com/SATA-Hard-Drive-Case-Enclosure/dp/B001AAVA08

Any decent tech will already have both, and as you can see they are not exactly expensive. Even if the laptop won't power on, if the disk still spins, anything on it is at risk of being accessed. If the disk won't spin, this will probably prevent casual access, but it is not a guarantee that no one, anywhere, can access it.

I have seen many machines which the owner believed to be "dead" but which still powered on, and perhaps failed to boot. If your computer stops working, don't just leave it out on the curb, be responsible with your data or someone else may get it. A computer left on the curb will almost invariably be picked up, often by someone who knows what to do with it and not the trash men.

Inside those hard drives are spinning platters. If you want the data to be at least reasonably safe before you dispose of it, make sure those platters will never spin again. While it's tossed around that someone could re-assemble the data on actually damaged platters, it's extremely unlikely they actually will. Take it apart, bend the platters, or just go at it with a sledgehammer. Or wipe it properly, and resell it. But only if you know what you're doing.

edit: Looking at the depth i don't think it'd close...

u/MP4-33 · 1 pointr/starcitizen

To copy all your stuff over all you need is a SATA-USB enclosure like this, which turns it into an external hard drive.

Then just use disk cloning software, take the SSD out of the enclosure, put it in the laptop and you're done. The other benefit of the enclosure is that you can now use your old drive as an external hard drive, for backups etc.

It is a little big but it works. I ordered a different one from Ali express. If it is great I will post it here.

u/shark6428 · 1 pointr/AskPhotography

Even regular HDDs aren't that sensitive to drops so long as they're not being used. You mainly have to worry about not breaking off the controller where the connectors are and not dropping in the water. Otherwise, they can take some abuse including moving around while being used - unlike HDDs. Grab any external drive case and use it to carry the adapter and 2-4 drives.

u/AsksAStupidQuestion · 1 pointr/pocketoperators

Take batteries out of mod, put in battery case. Detach atomizers, though I've never seen anyone check that honestly. All these must be carried on, not checked. I use this case to keep it all separate to get through security without any problems at all.

100ml or less liquids you carry on in your liquids bag, otherwise in checked baggage as much as you want.

u/crystalsnow25 · 1 pointr/fountainpens

At that size, I suggest looking at external battery cases on Amazon. You'll have to check whether they have a built-in strap or not. Something like this

Edit or maybe this one?

u/Steltek · 1 pointr/bikecommuting

I have a Banjo Bros large backpack. I don't actually wear it while riding, it sits in a cargo bike. That being said, I really do love it.

Pros:

  • Flexible space! No dividers or compartments means I get to organize my way. For daily commutes, it handles big days without issue: clothes, lunch cooler bag, laptop, gadgets, and rain gear. With clever packing, I've taken this pack on a week long (airplane) trip.

  • Waterproof. Wasn't sure about the liner at first but it does the job right. Never have to worry.

  • Side pockets hold a full size Nalgene or a chunky u-lock. I'm not sure why this is so hard to find.

  • Reflective stripes, blinky loop. Visibility = good.

    Cons:

  • Some of the stitching just isn't up to par.

  • It's basically a padded sack with backpack straps. No airflow or weight bearing frame.

Side note, I'd recommend one of these organizers too. Bike tool, tire patches, levers, USB cables, first aid, etc. All goes in there. Yeah, it's ultimately chunkier than an underseat bag but I like having just one backpack of stuff rather than spread out.

I bought the illumishield screen protector which you can find here: https://www.amazon.com/iLLumiShield-Nintendo-Protector-Anti-Bubble-Anti-Fingerprint/dp/B0159EESEA/
it installs pretty well and I even managed to install it successfully in my dusty room lol. It also comes with 3 pieces for each screen in case you mess it up the first few tries.

I bought a hard drive pouch for my n3ds, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VVH8Y6/
it runs a lil big but the n3ds is held by a elastic strap which should prevent it from shaking inside the pouch.

I'm just using the white as a backup drive. At those prices it's cheaper than any other media, so I'll backup data there and store it in one of these:

to be fair, the amazon essentials one fits Perfectly without the stand - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F5CKWBA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Oh excellent, thanks.

I do have this one in my wishlist currently, because it was so cheap. But with electronics, I've been told to stay away from cheap things because they can break easier. Is that the case (no pun) with HDD enclosures?

This one Fits pretty well for me :)

I'm throwing in another option: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F5CKWBA/

Half the price, and has a review which says "Perfect fit for my retroflag GPI case. Holds the USB cable as well extra batteries."

Ordering now, will update once received.

Take out the HDD of your broken PS3 and put it in one of those clip on things (Makes internal HDDs external) then plug it into your PC and transfer all your saves.

Im pretty sure thats all you can carry over

Heres the link to a Caddy to make it external
