Just went on Amazon to see how much other people were selling this for new and expected to come back and laugh at this guys audacity but Ho-ly fuck.

u/siriuslyred · 19 pointsr/AskReddit

Have you got a Gameboy (or DS!)? Any Gameboy will do! You got it?? Good!! Now, depending on the generation of Gameboy in your hand, follow one of these links:

Original -> Pokemon Red / Pokemon Blue / Pokemon Yellow - Pikachu Edition

Gameboy Color -> Pokemon Silver / Pokemon Gold / Pokemon Crystal

Gameboy Advance -> Pokemon Ruby / Pokemon Sapphire / Pokemon Emerald

Nintendo DS -> Pokemon Diamond / Pokemon Pearl / Pokemon Platinum

Nintendo DS -> Pokemon Black / Pokemon White

... and sort your life out!

EDIT: As people rightly pointed out, no 3DS Pokemon yet, fixed it!

u/zoruru1 · 16 pointsr/Games

I'm still mad that a lot of Pokemon games are still being sold at $40 plus.

If you want something that's quite accessible, then maybe you should pick a used copy of Kageyama Method: Tadashii Kanji Kakitori-Kun - Kondo wa Kanken Taidaku Dayo! for the Nintendo DS. It covers the 1945 characters (pre-2010 list) taught during school. The game came out in 2007 so that's why it doesn't contain the new 196 characters.

u/SicTim · 7 pointsr/WeAreTheMusicMakers

Got a Nintendo DS? Then I recommend the Korg DS-10 cart.

<$15 gets you a lot of toys, including dual ghetto Kaossilators, controlled by the stylus.

  1. I would absolutely love this because my daughter and I love to play video games together and my husband loves to play video games too. It would be like an awesome gift for the whole family.

2)My daughter and I would love to get really great at this game so we can kick Mr. Chowderkirk's ass at it. It's available for less than $25 as a used game, which I would be perfectly fine with.

3)The fact that you are trying to spread the cheer by giving away your DS is proof that Radler is rad.

The only things that the IR port could be used for are built in to the body the New3DS(XL) systems.

The Circle Pad Pro for Regular Size 3DS and XL size 3DS are not required for the N3DS(XL) as not only are the new systems the wrong size, but the CPP's features are all built in standard equipment for the New2/3DS systems! That's the two extra shoulder buttons on the back (ZL, ZR) and the gray rubber C-stick nub above your ABXY buttons.

The Amiibo Reader (AKA: Nintendo NFC Reader/Writer) is also already built in as any Amiibo can be gently placed on your bottom touchscreen when prompted to activate or save your Amiibo figurines' progress.

Since the 3DS is in its twilight life cycle (we're sadly in the last year closeout to obsolete status) to make way for the Nintendo Switch fully taking over, I highly doubt that a new accessory is going to be released for the Nintendo 3DS that will utilize the IR port. As long as everything else works okay on the system, I don't see a reason to send it in to Nintendo Repair.

As long as this means the little black oval window on the back of the system next to the charging port, that is the one that is not used.

However, like pawlik23 asked, if it's the little dot next to the inside camera on the top shell, that is an IR light emitter. That IR LED is used to shine IR light on your face in poor lighting conditions if you want to use 3D in low, no, or poor light conditions as cameras can see IR, but our eyes can't. That allows the Stable 3D to work in nearly all situations. If that is what is scratched, your Stable 3D may not work correctly when your face is dark or if a light source is behind your face, and that may be worth sending in to Nintendo.

Assassin's Creed is a great game series, but it's pretty violent - you play an assassin, after all. If you want to give it a shot, start with AC2 - it's a much better game than AC1.

Given that you liked Phoenix Wright (oh I do love Feenie.. there need to be more games in that series like yesterday), you could give Ghost Trick a shot. It's got a very similar sort of "feel" to it, though it's a bit more puzzle-y and less investigate-y, if that makes sense. It's by the same folks who did PW, for what that's worth, and I highly enjoyed it. I found the puzzle concepts really neat, too.

And given that you like mystery novels, I recommend 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors. Lots of drama, puzzles, decisions, and many different endings. Also lots of reading - it feels more like a book than PW did, to me. I haven't finished this one myself, but it sounds like it might be something you would enjoy. I liked it well enough, it was just more serious that what I was looking for at the time, and I haven't gone back to it yet.

Note, I'm assuming you have a DS of some fashion, since you said you'd played PW; both Ghost Trick and 999 are DS games.

Hope you find something that you enjoy, and happy gaming!

u/Navolas2 · 4 pointsr/MonsterHunter

Which version of 3ds do you have? If you have an original version of the 3ds or 3ds XL I would suggest the claw pad pro I linked to. It puts an additional Circle pad a little below the L button on the system. Gives you have claw feelings and is way more comfortable at the same time.

I honestly have considered buying an OG 3DS again so I can use it with my American release monster hunter games.Though due to time since release they are getting a bit more spendy.... but it is amazing.

edit: Also could try just the normal Circle Pad Pro. 3DS XL OG 3DS

u/Tsukamori · 4 pointsr/ghibli

I'm pretty sure it's both. According to Wikipedia, the Nintendo version even came first. Amazon link

My favorite game is... probably Dragon Age. I happily sunk 100 hours into the first. It also broke my heart just a little, but I'm super excited for the third!

For PS3, I've been told by /u/Yokuo that I need to play Tales of Symphonia. I've only recently got into the series, but it's a lot of fun and I'm a huge JRPG fan and this one is apparently a must!

Or Etrian Odyssy on the DS? I've played the demo for the fourth one and it's really fun, but quite tricky and just a bit different from a lot of the other games on the market.

u/bookishgeek · 3 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Gift Two!

For the first gift, I'll link this awesome purple 3DS that I oh so desperately want, but I obviously don't really expect you to get this, because as you guys already said, I know you're not made of money!

If I happen to win the raffle ("C'mon...gimme."!), I would be SO SO SOOO happy to receive this super awesome, totally cool Perry the Platypus plushie! =D

Thank you so much for hosting this contest you guys! You're beautiful! Thank you!!! =D

I've only played one a very little amount, so I can't make strong recommendations. I've heard good things about this one, though, and bad things about My Japanese Coach. You'd probably have to be careful, though. Most (if not all worthwhile) kanji games are Japanese only, so you'd have to import a DS game and play it on the DS Lite or original DS. DSi and 3DS/2DS wouldn't work because of region-locking. At that point, it might just be too expensive, and so it would be more productive to study Japanese the old-fashioned way. You may need more of a foundation before trying immersion things like games and other media.

edit: Also, the link above is not the one I played. I can't remember the one I played anymore (it was like 2 years ago), though I remember it was geared toward kids. I played it with a 9-year-old Japanese girl.^(she kicked my ass)

I know I'm not alone on the DS train, I want a purple one! :D I've been putting off getting it for myself until a game I really, really wanted came out. Zelda OoT almost did it initially, and then the new Animal Crossing... but I'm holding out for Super Smash Bros ;)

Picross - puzzle game based on a pen and paper variation. Fill in the boxes of the grid according to the numbers on the side to make a picture.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong - Donkey Kong steals Mario's new line of toys and its up to the plumber to get them back. Lemmings style puzzles.

Scribblenauts - conjure anything and everything anytime to solve these devious puzzles. Fun for ppl with large vocabularies.

Brain Age - use mini-games to train your brain to stay in peak mental condition. Plus, your grandmother plays this, too.

Puzzle Quest - match like-colored tiles to gain mana and defeat evil creature. This is what Harry Potter would play instead of Bejeweled. Highly underrated game IMO.

Hope this helps, good luck!

u/gyrfalcons · 2 pointsr/ShouldIbuythisgame

Hah, I just made a post that was vaguely similar... I'd actually say check it out and see if there are any you haven't played but that sound interesting to you. I'd be really happy to elaborate on the appeal of any of the games on that list that I enjoyed.

The first one I'd say you should give a try is Bow Street Runner, though, which is a surprisingly good flash detective game with a nice historical element to it. The puzzles aren't that difficult but are enjoyable enough, the acting is actually reasonably good, you get to be a detective in Georgian England, and it's just fun.

I'd also say Ghost Trick should be something that you would definitely enjoy. It's basically your brief - a high focus on story and character development, solving puzzles & intrigue, and a bit of a pressure element (difficulty). You can't go wrong here. I loved the shit out of it, and I think you will too. Since you mentioned having a DS, try this!

Also, if you have an Android phone, Layton Brothers: Mystery Room is definitely a must try. It's a series of Locked Room Murders that you have to solve, and it resembles the AA games much more than it does the Layton games in terms of how it goes. The characters are all pretty fun as well, and I really enjoyed this and would strongly recommend it as well.

Edit: I also totally forgot to mention - 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors. It's a puzzle/visual novel kind of thing, and I found it very engaging. The plot is definitely sort of a brain twister kind of thing in the 'what even is going on' sense, but everything is explained in a pretty satisfactory way at the end. Definitely consider this one. It's basically Room Escape: The Game, but it does that very well.

u/TheCodingGamer · 2 pointsr/dragonquest

On a side note, considering your suspicion (regardless of validity), you could always return it and buy a brand new copy on Amazon for around $24, which is a better value IMHO. :)

u/CaspianX2 · 2 pointsr/patientgamers

If you're limiting this to cartridge titles you're gonna' get fewer results, but I can recommend some:

Steel Diver, a decent submarine combat game from Nintendo.

Scribblenauts Unlimited - A good entry in a solid game series.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars, a good strategy-RPG.

Also, regular DS games (which play on the 3DS). Unlike 3DS games, DS games are not region-sensitive, so you can play imports just fine on your US system, too:

Elite Beat Agents - Probably the best music-rhythm game on the DS.

Rhythm Heaven - Another very good music-rhythm game, albeit more in the abstract.

Sonic Colors and Sonic Rush - Surprisingly good Sonic games.

Mama's Combo Pack - I've never played Camping Mama, but Cooking Mama is a great series of food-themed touchscreen minigames.

Geometry Wars: Galaxies - A great space shooter

WarioWare DIY - A fun entry in Nintendo's "microgame" series, with a "custom build it yourself" twist.

N+ - A simple, but extremely fun and challenging, ninja platformer game.

Pac Pix - A fun arcadey game where you draw Pac-Man to eat ghosts.

Jam Sessions and its sequel - Not a game as much as a tool to create music. Still, very good.

Bust-A-Move DS - A surprisingly good version of this classic puzzle game series with touchscreen support.

Polarium DS - A good, if simple, puzzle game.

Touchmaster, More Touchmaster, Touchmaster Connect and Touchmaster 3 - Good minigame collections.

Pipe Mania - A decent take on the old "Pipe Dream" puzzle game.

This is a timely thread. I've been thinking about taking my DSL out of its little corner and playing with it again.

I have some recommendations for you, OP. I will second the suggestions of Animal Crossing: Wild World, Harvest Moon: Sunshine Islands, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Professor Layton, and Ghost Trick, but wanted to give special mention to the following:

  • Elite Beat Agents - This is a rhythm game where you tap circles and draw lines while following the beat of a song, as secret agents dance in the background and try to save the world. I know it sounds kooky, and it is, but that's half the fun. The Japanese original, Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan, was such a huge cult hit that they came out with the English version in Elite Beat Agents. There are a bunch of great songs on it, and the covers are actually decent (a couple are better than the original). Each song opens with a story that introduces someone in need of your help -- and somehow it's your dancing/cheering which pushes him/her to succeed. The stories are often hilarious, but there is one that will rip your heart out and make you teary. Absolutely love this game. (Screen protector strongly recommended!)

  • Rhythm Heaven - Another rhythm-based game, but these two are just really fun and I decided to recommend both. Rhythm Heaven is different from Elite Beat Agents in that it's more a collection of mini games you need to beat in order to advance. There are about 5 mini games (I think) in a collection, and once you beat each one individually, you are given a 'recap' round that basically mashes them all together. This game looks deceptively simple but can be so damn difficult at times that achieving success is so satisfying! The beats in this game are very catchy.

  • The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass - Lovely RPG. I thought the visuals were beautiful, and it was fun to play. Not much to say except it's a Zelda game, an awesome and fun one at that. The game makes use of the DSL's touchscreen. Controls may be kind of a bit hard to familiarize yourself with if you're used to normal console controls for Zelda, but after a while you get the hang of it and it's really fun to slash your sword around.

  • Advance Wars: Dual Strike - Tactical turn-based strategy game where you try to battle it out with enemies and crush them all. I didn't think I'd like it, but I'm SO glad I gave it a try. I remember staying up late into the night playing this. It's really addicting. There's a sequel, Days of Ruin, but I've never played that so can't give a personal opinion on it. It comes highly recommended, though.

  • Rune Factory 3: A Fantasy Harvest Moon - Take the original Harvest Moon games that were about farming and raising animals and getting to know people in your town, and add in some RPG-ish dungeon crawling (where you can also tame monsters to help out on your farm), and you have Rune Factory. I will always have a soft spot for Harvest Moon games; this just adds another element to it.

  • New Super Mario Brothers - The DS iteration of Mario. Not sure what to really say except it's a fun platformer, and it reminds me of Super Mario 3 when I played.

  • Mario Kart DS - This is fun, and there's just something addictive about it that kept me coming back for yet another round. I liked this version, though some people do say the controls are a bit off, but I never experienced that.

Other games that have been strongly recommended by others (but I have not played):

  • Final Fantasy III
  • Golden Sun: Dark Dawn
  • Dragon Quest IX
  • Radiant Historia
  • Kirby Canvas Curse
  • Advance Wars: Days of Ruin

  1. My girlfriend has been talking about wanting to get a DS for months now. Every time we go near a video game store she stops and plays them. She has started saving a couple times, but every time she starts something happens and she needs the money (car accident, rent, tuition, etc.) It would be amazing if I could surprise her with one.

  2. This game is the one she has been eyeing (used condition). She loves Mario.

  1. I really want a DS to play games while traveling and to play some multiplayer games (A lot of friends on these trips also have DS systems.)

  2. New Super Mario Bros because I have never owned or beaten a Mario Bros game. It is available for ~$16 used. Or any Pokemon game should you find one less than $20.

Love this game to bits but you have to like mystery/visual novel type games. There is a LOT of reading, it's literally dispersed into puzzle and novel portions, but if you want to experience a story that'll blow your goddamn mind I totally recommend it.

More games like this that are heavily story/puzzle based:

Ace Attorney series

I don't know if you have a regular 3ds or an XL, but the regular sized one sells on amazon for $~10, and the LL version sells for about the same.

For anyone concerned, the japanese regular/LL cpp works exactly the same for a western handheld (the US versions are more expensive for w/e reason). I got one for my roommate, and it helped it a bit. I also particularly liked it as a grip, not just an extra stick.

u/makemeking706 · 1 pointr/GameDeals

I did a little bit of searching and found two possible sources (I actually got my copy of Etrian Odyssey III recently this past March on eBay).

There is a copy of Etrian Odyssey 3 available on Amazon right now (used, very good) for about $45-50. However, I don't know if it is just the cartridge, the cartridge and the case, or everything included. https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B003S55EX2/ref=dp_olp_all_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=all

There is also a bid on eBay (also used, very good) which is currently at $29.00, and the bid ends around Sunday evening. Judging from the pictures, I believe this has everything included so if you're really lucky you can get it for less than $50.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Etrian-Odyssey-III-The-Drowned-City-COMPLETE-Nintendo-DS-2010/123757466520?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20180816085401%26meid%3Dd207bbbd79244207a1343e5164ab42e1%26pid%3D100970%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D2%26sd%3D322209827259%26itm%3D123757466520&_trksid=p2481888.c100970.m5481&_trkparms=pageci%3A68734b0c-73b2-11e9-8e1a-74dbd18049c6%7Cparentrq%3Aa57ca4d216a0ab1d0a1a4e44ffda2042%7Ciid%3A1

Its a turn based JRPG. You really dont have any twitch movement, fast reactions or anything the sort you really just got to not press the wrong thing with your finger. Plus the controls are literally move your character tap a menu when needed its not that hard.

The big thing here is say what you want about mobile gaming control wise in the case of DQ1-3 the mobile versions 1 + 2 are the most recent versions with the most recent translations since no one outside of japan got the redid SNES version. Then you have the fact that the redid fan translated snes version of the dual pack is straight up buggy (there was a run literally a couple weeks ago where he was playing DQ2 then the game literally just turned into DQ1 with DQ2 mechanics mid playthrough). In the case of DQ3 its debateable but you lose a bit of content on that one (mini medals and something else), but you have a recent translation, an updated difficulty curve to make the game less of a grind fest, an orchestrated soundtrack, and a higher resolution than your other option which is once again a fan translated rom or the literal NES/GBC version.

In the case of the game he said though its not even debatable. You get literally the same exact game as the DS versions at a higher resolution with nothing lost visually (the ds split the screens vertically just like the mobile versions except the mobile versions arent broken in the middle) and it doesn't cost an arm or a leg. And by arm or a leg I mean DQVI the game they are saying is better on ds is the same exact experience extra content and all but its 150$ new and 90$ used. DQIV less content on DS since the mobile version has Party Chat.

DQ2 on mobile is also tuned thighter to make it less like an old school rpg in terms of balance since the games are all kind of grindy. DQ3 imo is better with the translated version since i like mini medals and the monster animations but even then I can sit here and say oh it doesn't matter if you play this over mobile, it does you lose so much in the process plus you lose the most up to date translated version.

Then on top of that the port themselves of all these games are amazing. You can tell they put care into how the controls work, how the graphics look, etc etc when comparing it to...lets say...the mobile chrono trigger port which has control issues.

Im most cases imo you really just cant do better than the mobile versions when the alternative is either paying over 100 bucks for a copy, losing content/having a worse translation, having the old school (read annoying) snes difficulty curve, etc. Really DQV and DQIV are the only ones where you can play and have largely the same experience on either versions but DQV is still cheaper on mobile (cost just as much as it did when it came out new/damn near 100$ in EU) or you lost party chat in DQIV.

You lose all of this because you dont want physical buttons.....you really have to just have a vendetta against mobile for no reason at that point.

EDIT: I kept calling Monster Medals Mini Medals T_T

Nintendo might not, but I had one of these for my 3DS. The only problem was I'd accidentally push on it while playing and it'd eject the game.

Maybe we should get the mods to put instructions on how to do this in the sidebar.

I also use Tadashii Kakitori supplemented with the JPLT list.

I'd love to have a digital version of something like 1016 Kanji in context as learning 2, 3 and 4 kanji strings are necessary for basic literacy.

Not certain why you received a downvote.

Short of a miracle, emulator is just about the only way you're going to play Dragon Warrior I-IV.

While there's a handheld remake for IV(on DS) most of them haven't seen a remake/re-release.

I'll add Dragon Quest V(on DS) and Dragon Quest VI(on DS) as well.

I honestly prefer the fan translations on those two, though.

There was also an anime series done relating(roughly) to the story of Dragon Quest/Warrior III. It aired very briefly in Canada when I was little. Think I only caught the first ~4 episodes, if that.

Hey, that's the same one I wanted, cool. I liked the little patterns that made it look like a poptart. It's more expensive than the one with Mario Kart, so I think I'll settle for that one. ;P

u/MzTredecim · 1 pointr/3DS

From what I've read just about any case meant for the 3DS XL/LL will hold a 3DS and its CPP.

edit: It is very curious that the only specifically stated CPP & 3DS case I can find is for the XL. Its pricey too.

edit: Well after a little more looking around I found this. One of the reviews explicitly states that it can be modded to fit a 3ds with the CPP. It's a nice price too!

Just kidding. Something reasonable. Maybe an astronaut pen.

Would you do Platinum for Dragon Quest IV?

Dragon Quest IV

Dragon Warrior was the Americanized NES versions of 'Dragon Quest' from Japan. After the Square Enix merger (I think) they adopted the Dragon Quest name for all iterations.

Here is a quick search result I found.

u/Pilcrow182 · 1 pointr/zelda

True, but personally I don't need the manual, box, etc. The game itself is what's important to me, so I'm fine with getting just the cart. I'll probably get it from Amazon, since they still have a ton of them going for about $30.

[Here's a legit copy of mines.] (https://i.imgur.com/eQ1f5Lw.jpg) It may be a little bit turnish from years of use and it don't have the serial number written on the back in black anymore, but I bought mines from GameStop brand new back on release day, which was May 15, 2006.

But anyway, I looked and compared the two. I can see some slight differences. There's too much yellow on the bottom border where you see the grass, just above the A2DE serial number on the front of the game card. The brick block on the far left is a bit more visible and a bit skinnier than mines, also the sticker is a little off to the left side of the game card. It's not lined up directly in the middle, But I honestly don't know if that makes it fake or not. Yours could've just been a more recent print from mines since mines was a release copy. You can compare if you want as well.

I saw some pictures on Amazon where a person had a fake copy on the game. They had it for years not knowing it was a counterfeit copy until Nintendo did the 3DS update which made the game unplayable, so he couldn't return it, but I can tell his looks fake all the way through though. I'd be interested in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and maybe your SNES games + paypal. Whats the price on Zelda OoT / your SNES game lot? I can decide if I want to include them in negotiations or not.

Mario Kart 7 is preinstalled on the system, looks like you want that game anywise so that's good. I could transfer it off if you wanted to lower the value of the system some though? The price of this bundle is pretty across the board on amazon so I don't have an exact price, was hoping for offers. Mine is like new, I can send some more photos later if we figure out a deal.

Shadow Dragon

Probably a stupid question, but I'm planning on picking up a copy of Shadow Dragon from Amazon. However, I've bought games there before and gotten bootleg copies instead of the real deal. Can anyone else who's bought it from Amazon tell me which sellers are trustworthy and which aren't? Thank you!

u/Steelersgirl20 · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

2:20 and link thanks!

u/lsdlkjdsaf · 1 pointr/3DS

I got it from Amazon, here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001TOQ8UW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It was only $32.24 when I got it. I've noticed some Spirit Tracks copies don't have Link (Like in the sample picture for the Hori case on Amazon), why's that?

The case I got Spirit Tracks in was also significantly different from the cases for my other DS games (I never owned an actual DS). It made me wonder if maybe the game was counterfeit, or if the case was just not an original or something, but I don't know how to tell. Here are picture comparisons: http://imgur.com/a/dXksf

Anyone reading this know why it's different?

u/Berz3rk3r · 1 pointr/3DS

What do you mean you missed it? You can buy any DS game and play them on the 3ds. The DS cartridges fit into the 3ds without issue, it's completely backwards compatible with pretty much all DS titles.
