That Razer BF4 headset is one of the ugliest pieces of technology I've ever seen.

u/DICK-PARKINSONS · 10 pointsr/Vive

They're actually on Amazon already, they dropped the 5ks on there last week or so

Another headset to consider at this price (if you already have the lighthouses) is the Pimax 5k+ for $640 ($800 - 20% off) on Amazon.

You can also order it from Pimax's website, however I'd recommend against that.

Vs the Vive Pro you gain:

  • Higher resolution (2560x1440 per panel)
  • RGB pixel layout (Each pixel has 3 subpixels vs 2 in the Pro's Oled screen)
  • Better FOV: 150 degrees (horiz) on normal, 170 degrees on wide
  • 120Hz mode when set to 120-130 degree fov
  • Support for fixed foveated rendering on RTX GPUs

    Lose:

  • Current wireless adapter (pimax is getting one soon^(TM)
  • Build quality, it feels both solid, yet the plastic is a bit thin on parts.
  • OLED screens (Uses LCD, but this gains you a tighter pixel layout = sharper image & less screen door)
  • Requires additional software to be running in addition to either SteamVR or Oculus's SW: PiTool
  • Software is not compatible with AMD 5700 XTs (supposedly in work)
  • DAS: There's one available but it costs extra ($120/$220 depending on headphones). Can use the Vive DAS with 3d printed adapters.

I have the Index, Vive, and 5k+. The Index is better for fast movement standing type experiences due to the incredible build quality and comfort. The Pimax is better for sims and anything where FoV is king.

Whistlers deserve to have their tongue pulled out. It drives me up the wall. WHY must they pester their environment so much? Do they think other people enjoy it?!

That aside, yes, I feel you. I feel you so much. There's nothing that bother me as much as sounds intruding on me in my home. It's bad enough when I'm at work, but at home I get so angry. While, at the same time, getting angry with myself because my neighbor is just doing normal neighbor-stuff, not even playing loud music. It's just that any, ANY, amount of noise is too much.

When you say that you have tried headphones: which ones? There are so many different ones. Maybe a combination (as in, having several different to change between) of in-ear headphones (I can't use them for more than an hour or two, but damn they're effective) and large over-the-ear headphones? I use them all the time, and the most important thing for me, to prevent it hurting, is the strap that goes over my head - it has to be loose, like in this set. That way, it doesn't clamp to the ears. I do get the unfairness of it though. There's a new hotel being built nearby me, and they spent three months driving pillars into the earth for the foundation - non-stop very deep bass sounds from 6 in the morning to 6 in the evening. I was so angry, both at the sounds and being forced to use my headphones whether I wanted to or not.

The black & copper pair don't look as cheap as the black & blue pair but I'm surprised Audeze is branching into the gaming market. I figured they were too far into the boutique market but nothing wrong with expanding the product stack. I see a couple big issues with these though:

  1. The gaming headphone market is already ridiculously crowded.
  2. Every company seems to have this "new & revolutionary 3D surround sound emulation" technology but they all have 2 drivers like the rest. Between Sennheiser's new GSP 600 with "7.1 surround sound" & Steel Series' new Arctis Pro + GameDac that have both released in the past few months Audeze doesn't exactly have a fresh take. This is ignoring the other options from Logitech, Astro Gaming, Turtle Beach, Triton, etc. that all claim to do the same thing. On top of those you have built-in surround sound in Windows 10 with Windows Sonic as well as a Dolby Atmos plugin as standalones that work with any headphone.
  3. Even if they do have outstanding imaging with their 3D emulation they're still closed back so the soundstage could potentially be an issue.
  4. Bluetooth is great for mobile, but it's a hard sell for a desktop environment at least for me. I'd rather be wired, or have a dedicated amp for wireless like Astro A50s.

Head tracking is a meh worthy gimmick too. Monitor manufacturers have been pushing eye tracking the past year or so which is more compelling because I don't move my head drastically enough during a session & certainly not enough to want to see data about it.

And finally, at $400 retail they're more expensive than just about everyone else. I don't see these doing all that well tbh. Cynical take but I feel my reasoning is justified.
u/itsacrisis · 3 pointsr/GirlGamers

I really like HyperX Cloud II headsets. You'll end up paying bit more than 100 CAD, but I think they are worth it. Plus, there might be a good sale coming up for black friday. You mentioned not ugly, so you might like the hyperxwhite/purple headset. I think you can get the black Cloud II's and the black/red cloud IIs for around 100-120 bucks.

I've had the same headset for quite a while now. They get a ton of use and still work just as good as new. I can't say I've had the same experience with Razer and a few other brands I tried in the past.

This is a better deal than what I went with. I got Amazon's CyberPowerPC Gamer Xtreme VR GXiVR8020A/Rift bundle So I could jump right in since I didn't have the money to build last year,Total cost was $1408. I'm pleased with it since I've had 0 problems and setup was smooth. Plugged everything in and was good to go, performance is good as well. Still planning to build one this year though.

I bought a set of LucidSound L20's for my kids for Christmas. I've actually been using them and am quite impressed. Word of caution though, they are on ear headphones. I have a small head and ears and they mostly sit on my ears. Some people don't like that, but these work good enough I've been using them over my normal setup recently. Normally about $100, I picked them up for $70. Very solidly constructed.

SteelSeries Siberia 150. They aren't new and rather cheap price but do not let that fool you. These are the ones I use in CSGO and you know how important sound is in that game. Mic works perfectly, isn't in the way and a pretty light weight headset for sure.

So your sennhesier gsx 1200 is currently what is giving you the virtual surround sound. So if you get rid of that amp youll need another amp that offers virtual surround sound, which is pretty limited.

In other words if you just switched amps you may not have the ability to do that. unless you changed your headphones as well.

Bought these for my kids Sennheiser GSP 600 Professional Gaming Headset

Overall, pretty good. Comfortable, FAR above average fidelity for a gaming headset, mic is probably one of the best mics I've ever used that is part of a gaming headset. Again, my kids like them.

I personally don't like gaming headsets.

My personal gaming rig does not use "gaming" headsets.

I use regular low end audiophile headphones paired with a mixer + mic.

u/ratherfalinchocolate · 2 pointsr/GirlGamers

i have an earlier version of this headset and it lasted me almost 2 years so i can vouch for the brand

u/ILuffhomer · 2 pointsr/GirlGamers

A bit over your price request, but I have the HyperX Cloud headset: https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Alpha-Gaming-Headset/dp/B07PDNPRZN

I really love the purple and white (even if the white gets dirty), but the sound is good and they are comfortable for long Classic WoW sessions. They also fit comfortably even when I have glasses on!

u/Creeper__Reaper · 2 pointsr/buildapcsales

Also on Amazon for those with Prime for free Shipping. Seems like it is the same seller. Reviews seem decent, but there are some that have major complaints of mic quality

u/MutatedSpleen · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

If you're down with wired, I'd go with the Arctis 7 from Steeleries. Arctis 3 or 5 are fine too, but if they'll go up to $100, might as well push it to the limit.

u/ziki61 · 2 pointsr/oculus

Here is the link for Amazon Canada

Amazon Canada does not seem to be offering the 100$ Oculus credit but it's a good deal anyway, you get the PC for 550$. Or the Rift at 450$ the other way around :P

u/hxmy · 2 pointsr/GirlGamers

I got a SADES Spirit Wolf headset last year for skype meetings and occasional gaming, it's not very expensive and the sound quality and microphone are surprisingly good. I was afraid they would be cheaply made but I've been using them for months now and have no regrets, I would definitely recommend it as a starter headset.

Look for some sport headphones. I have to wear something similar or headphones won’t stay in my apparently odd shaped ears. Here is an example.

Budget - Up to $250 USD, Preferably less.

Source -Most of the time Home PC or laptop, Occasional Phone use as well.

Requirements for Isolation - Some, to alot, While I am at work, I will need to hear loud alert tones for when i have to go somewhere.

Will you be using these Headphones in Public? Most likely not. Maybe once.

Preferred Type of Headphone - Over the ear, fullsized I really enjoyed the shape of the headphones I have linked below.

Preferred tonal balance - Mixed, however I have a fondness for bass emphasis.

Past headphones - These. I like them because they made sound... They were durable and I wasn't asking much of them at the time, but now I want serious sound and have the funds to make it possible.

Preferred Music - A large range of music from classical, to modern pop music. I listen to a lot of Organ, Cello and Choral music, but also have a favorite playlist of the top 100 pop songs I listen to. Nothing gets me giddier than hearing the bass tones of an organ or a cello as if I am in the same room as the instrument.

I just bought 4 different headsets this weekend to try out and return the ones I didnt like.

TB X04, XB1 Stereo Headset, Sony Gold Wireless, and Razer Blackshark.

Blackshark wins hands down, the XB1s are shit quality sound, TB and Sony are equal in being actually pretty decent sound...

But the Blackshark is INSANE. Sound quality is off the charts. I would recommend them.

I just purchased a set of inexpensive gaming headphones for $50. Although these are inexpensive, they will be my traveling headset and the box they came in is very large with no protective case. I am hoping to apply some type of liquid plastic in order to create a protective cover (mold?) to hold the headphones in.

As you can see from the image below, they arrive in a cardboard holder that is hollowed out from the other side. I figured if I "paint" the back with some type of hardening material twice then bind them together to create the case it wouldn't be that difficult.

Im just not sure what types of materials I would need and the process to which I apply.

Hi, I currently own the Hyper X Cloud II but have started to hear something vibrating/shaking inside the headset. Consequently, I'm in the market for some new headphones. After following the buyers guide I'm currently interested in the Sennheiser HD 598 Over-Ear Headphones, Audio-Technica ATH-M50X Studio Monitor Professional Headphones or the Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro Headphones - 250 Ohm. Nevertheless, what's the difference in sound quality between those headphones and these headsets: Sennheiser GSP 350 Closed Back Gaming Headset, Sennheiser PC 360 Special Edition Gaming Headset, HyperX Cloud Revolver Pro Gaming Stereo Headset.

Budget: No more than £150
Source: Directly into my computer
Isolation: some (block out computer fans)
The headphones will be used exclusively at my desk.
Most of the music I hear will be from games, which varies heavily, so I want something which is okay for everything.
Overall I'm looking for something which is clear/detailed (so I can hear opponents in multiplayer games) while simultaneously sounding good for music/cinematic/single-player.

Thanking you.

EDIT: What's the difference between these: Sennheiser HD 598 Cs Closed Back and Sennheiser HD 558 High End Open Over-Ear

Thanks for all the input, and I'm sorry to hear to had problems with your Logitech headset. I'd love to take you up on your recommendation as Steelseries generally makes exceptional hardware, but my budget is really tight. Also thank you for the offer of the discount. I think I'll go for the 7.1 G430 since it's the same price, and I'll look into whether the surround sound implementation worsens the stereo sound compared to the G230. Thanks again!

First and foremost, are they compatible with Switch and PC? I'm guessing so since they use the same jacks (afaik). Would you recommend either of those over the Logitech?

I use this for my mic solution and it works pretty well.

SteelSeries V2's pretty old but they get the job done.

Honestly, if you can live with wired (most of the wireless headsets are garbage), there are some a handful of decent gaming headsets out there. None would ever be qualified as audiophile, but these at least have sound profiles that aren't hideous and headache inducing (i.e., harsh, tinny highs and artificial bass).

For $100 and below, you can't beat the Logitech G433s. The cloth exterior looks kind of funny but get them and black and forget about it once they're on your head. Voice chat is clear, audio quality is solid for gaming and rock/electronic music.

For $200 and below, the Steelseries Arctis Pro is the best headset I've used/heard. Nothing else in the "gaming headset" space even compares.

Everything from HyperX and Turtle Beach is straight garbage. Avoid like the plague.

Obviously, good studio headphones and a separate desk mic is going to result in the best audio quality, but if you want the convenience of a headset, I'd stand by either of these (I use the G433 daily myself).

They don't make the PC 363D anymore, they have the newer PC 373D which I'd definitely check out if I were you. You can get them for $96 euro on Amazon or on sale for $135 euro (normally $249.99) from Sennheiser. You should also check out the noise-canceling GSP 600 which is on sale on Amazon for $178 (normally $249.99) and the open-back GSP 500 which is currently $135 euros from Sennheiser or $144 on sale on Amazon (normally $225.) Any of those are good deals. You can see all their gaming headsets here.

I picked up these back in May and have been super satisfied. I was skeptical and didn't want to spend a lot but I took a chance and have been happy since. The mic quality is fantastic. I also wear glasses and don't notice any discomfort after extended play periods, although I do adjust my glasses every now and then naturally. The only thing with these is just to make sure you don't pull them out away from your ears to put them on. I only pull them out and little and try to slide on front/back. I read reviews of the over the head band breaking if you're too rough, but since I'm pretty careful with my things I haven't had any problems. Plenty of volume. Descent outside noise cancellation. Lots of durable cord. I would recommend.

Check out LucidSound I have them for my ps4 and xbox and the build quality (they're metal not plastic) + sound + design are great. Another good feature is that you can take off the attachable mic so the headset can actually be used in public for music and you won't look stupid.

I have the siberia v2s and they produce good sound, as well as hug your head nicely, as i hate how some headsets slip off when you lean forward or backward.

For speakers, if space is an issue, you should get the Micca MB42X then, as they're much smaller than the JBL LSR305s. Or you could even just get the Micca MB42. I have the JBL LSR305s and a fairly small desk and they fit. I have a 23-inch monitor and one speaker on each side of the monitor. You may also want to get a DAC for your speakers, like the Schiit Modi 2 / (Amazon link) or a DAC/amp combo, like the Schiit Fulla / (Amazon link) or FiiO E10K (Amazon link) or AudioQuest - DragonFly (Amazon link).

For headphones/headsets, you have many choices. If you are a gamer, you should check out Sennheiser's gaming headsets. If you don't plan on gaming and just want to listen to music, check out the Sennheiser HD series. They can be found much cheaper on Amazon, eBay, or other various retailers. I personally have the Sennheiser PC363D headset for gaming and unfortunately paid about $240 for them, not even 6 months ago. Right after I bought them, the price on Amazon dropped dramatically, to around $130. I just checked on Amazon and now they're back up to around $219, but if you watch them, they will probably drop again like they did before. Or you can check on eBay. Sennheiser does have cheaper models though (all of these are around $150 or less) like the brand new Sennheiser GSP300 / (Amazon link), Sennheiser GSP350 / (Amazon link), or the Sennheiser GAME ONE / (Amazon link). I have tried a few different brands and Sennheiser is my favorite for performance. I also have the Sennheiser HD 598 SE / (Amazon link) for listening to music and the Sennheiser RS120 II wireless headphones (Sennheiser RS 120 (older model) (Amazon link)) for my TV and got them for my parents too. If you live in a place where you can't have your TV or music too loud, the wireless headphones are very helpful. Overall, I use the Sennheiser PC 363D headset the most and it sounds awesome. If you're a gamer, get a gaming headset, or if you just listen to music, the HD series are great too.

If you're building, budget in a set of USB headphones/mic(I have one of these since my last set just broke https://www.amazon.com/SteelSeries-Siberia-Headset-Illumination-Headphone/dp/B016YGMJ34 Note they may be cheaper at walmart in the store). I've been through a handful over the years.

You can also use standard headphones bc there should be at least 1 3.5mm headphone jack on the board. I dont think I've ever seen a motherboard with out a 3.5mm jack in years. 99% of enthusiast boards have sound cards built in with at least an 3.5 mic and stereo. Some have 5.1 or 7.1 analog as well.

Sennheiser GSP 600
I've had these for about 3 weeks. I was tired of the plastic parts that connected the earphone to the head band breaking. My XO Sevens just did that and their not even a year old. These have aluminum connectors. And the surround sound is the best I've ever had.

These bad boys are cheap and have been better than anything I've used so far. Worst investment were the Logitech wireless headphones; huge waste of 100 bucks.

u/Johnny-Briggs · 1 pointr/buildapcsalesuk

The bundle is cheaper than the headset alone.

Camel camel camel has the bundle at £237.39.

The deal ends in ~17 hours from now.

Headset £169.99

Mouse £67.40

u/HamptonRoader · 1 pointr/WindowsMR

I think it's best to avoid any wireless or bluetooth items on the PC using the headset due to possible interference with the controllers, which i've experienced first hand, makes them seem like the tracking is no good vs usual spot on.

I just ordered these to plug into the dell visor fir mic and audio
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0755CX7DM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

seem to be well rated. For now i'm just using my 5.1 speaker set up (which is all hooked up to my sim racing seat, so when playing standing games it's all over to one side - not so good!)

Reason for using a HMD is because you cant see the monitor properly when you lie completely flat, but it can also help with photosensitivity

you should probably figure out whether you have CFS or not and apply for government support

Your price of the blacksharks is overpriced with the fact its 60 NEW at amazon http://www.amazon.com/Razer-Battlefield-BlackShark-Isolating-RZ04-00720300-R3U1/dp/B00F9XE932

you might want to reconsider. the bf4 ones have been going at that price at many retailers likely due to clearance sales or liquidating

Even newegg has them for the same price. theyve been on sale since the past month

I built this guy as my first build mainly to run OW. I ended up finding a guy locally that needed help repairing his fence and he happened to have a 1060 lying around. Never used for mining, never oc'ed, and in mint condition. After 2 hours of work he sold me the gpu for $50. After all was said and done, I spent $470 on everything to run AA titles at 90 fps as of right now.

P.s. I also got these headphones that were not on PCpartpicker. I used the ones on the list as they were that price when I bought them on Amazon.

$50 AudioTechnica I believe you need an adapter for these though

I’ll keep looking for a decent headset without a mic
