DIY 2×4 Bench Swing and Frame Plans

This is my new favorite hangout spot in the backyard. Super cheap and simple to make. It’s durable and can easily support well over 500 pounds. All lumber and hardware can be purchased at your local hardware store for about $190 dollars. The Everbilt Porch Swing hardware kit didn’t seem robust enough for me, so i spent a little extra on 1/2″ eye bolts, nuts, and spring links. Totally up to you! i recommend using the kreg tool pocket hole kit for most holes in this project to give it a clean look with minimal screws showing. The frame is stable and noiselessly rests on your patio as you swing, ready to be easily re-positioned as desired. However if you would prefer to mount the frame into the ground you can easily redesign the frame side walls to do so. Plans include: – List of Materials – Cut List – Detailed Assembly Drawings – Digital cad file for reference (stl and Parasolid) i recommend uploading the parasolid file to Autodesk a360 file viewer and using it for reference on your phone or tablet as you build. It allows you to select each part and see the part number. This is very useful and makes the build process super easy.
