Handcrafted Cajon Drum Box

I’ve been making these cajons in my home workshop for many years now. I’m both a long time drummer and a long time furniture maker, so i don’t know why it took me so long to put the two together! These cajons measure 12″ x 12″ x 19″ and have a great bass sound when played at the center of the face (tapa). In addition, there are two options for the distinctive snare sound when the cajon is played near the top of the front face. You can choose a fixed snare option so that the snare effect is always present, or an adjustable snare option so that the snare effect can be turned on or off with a twist of a knob. The snares that are used are 1/2 of a set of snare drum wires. The fixed snare cajon uses one of the half-sets, while the adjustable snare cajon uses two half-sets. i have included pictures of all types of cajons. In fact, due to some requests, you can also select a ‘no snare’ option for a bongo sound only. All these cajons are built from hardwood Baltic Birch material with quality furniture joinery, unlike some homemade pieces I’ve seen. i now have the cajons available in three different colors: cherry, walnut or the maple finish, which allows them to feel at home in a living room or on stage.
