The Bits lighting series is centered around the antique Auger drill bits featured in each piece.These drill bits have been used for centuries in fine woodworking,and represent a bygone era of craftsmanship and hand power. The elegant simplicity of this spiral structure was first known to have been used by Archimedes (c. 250 BCE) to push water uphill, and is still used in virtually every avenue of human industry from agriculture to mining to fabrication. Now that these hardworking tools have entered old age, these lamps honor their history of service by giving them a place within the finished form.
