At the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, it seemed there were more people watching GotG than Turtles. I just watched Guardians for the 2nd time, full house still.

Also the MP3 album is out, number 1 on Amazon :)

It's a rap musical, with all of the traditional colonial roles played by people of color. So it's a very non-traditional musical. If you have Amazon Prime, you can stream the soundtrack for free.

Sure thing! I bought two volumes of "The Greatest Video Game Music", performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra:

Definitely thinking myself the hands in this video is Throttle's. Would be an amazing comeback for him, and I am sitting here with my jaw dropped - I have missed him so much and now maybe he is back!

EDIT: okay, so apparently it isn't Throttle because of this, but oh well - Didrick is cool to have too!

u/mattostgard · 6 pointsr/IndieGaming

Neotokyo has an amazing soundtrack. I love zoning out to it.

u/kevinday · 5 pointsr/Harmontown

That's "Podcast Theme" by Ryan Elder, from the Harmontown movie soundtrack.

u/Floowey · 5 pointsr/southpark

Actually he has release some original albums, like this one!

u/mmatessa · 5 pointsr/history

The soundtrack is great and available for free if you have Amazon Prime.

u/pahool · 4 pointsr/Buddhism

I highly recommend Shinzen Young's The Science of Enlightenment audio series. It's very instructive and pragmatic and has some really good guided meditations. No beliefs required at all. The mp3 version through Amazon is significantly less expensive than the cd version.

You can search for Shinzen Young on youtube if you like before purchasing any of his material. See if you like the cut of his jib.

u/yourdungeonmaster · 3 pointsr/rpg
u/whiznat · 3 pointsr/nin

Interestingly, it's not on the soundtrack. BTW, the music TR and AR did for the movie is the original score, not the soundtrack.

u/mmmmbeeer · 3 pointsr/Music
u/GCOriComposer · 3 pointsr/xboxone

This song is a slightly amended version of Restoring The Light, Facing The Dark from the soundtrack.

Soundtrack is available here:

u/ChocolateSunrise · 3 pointsr/ActiveMeasures

Reznor did the musical score for the recent Ken Burns series on Vietnam. Not that you were asking.

u/rcpublicemail · 3 pointsr/Buddhism

Rinzai is known for it's rigor and discipline. Rinzai and Seon Buddhism have reputations for being the hard-asses of Buddhism. That being said, Ven. Eshu comes off as really nice. I'd really like to make a pilgrimage out to BC someday and do a retreat with them.

As a beginner, on your own, with limited experience I wouldn't really recommend these series of talks. What I would recommend is that you look into the Western Vipassana tradition. Zen schools and their practices aren't systematized like the Theravada tradition (Western Vipassana is an emerging tradition in the west that falls under the Theravadan tradition). If you were learning a language the Theravada tradition would be like Rosetta stone, slowly building up your knowledge of basic vocabulary and syntax, with some meta-analysis thrown in as to why things are being presented this way. Zen would be like learning a language via total immersion. It's effective, but it's hard, you need a real commitment and a community to support you in your progress.

One resource I always recommend to beginners is The Science of Enlightenment by Shinzen Young. It's probably one of my favorite Buddhist related works.

For more entry level dharma talks I hope you take a look at the following links:

Audio Dharma - Recommended Talks

Dharma Seed (Great for searching through to find a talk on a particular subject.)

Dharma Talks given by the San Francisco Zen Center

The Buddhist Geeks Podcast

The Buddhist Geeks Podcasts are really interesting discussions about all aspects of Buddhism. It's not about teaching Buddhism. They're normally discussions with senior practitioners from all different sects about Buddhism. Talks cover topics such as rarified mental states (i.e. jhanas), adapting Buddhism to the west and the 21st century, meditation and the brain... really interesting stuff. If you have any real interest in Buddhism and how deep the rabbit hole goes, their best talks will really spark the fire of intrigue and get you serious about practice.

Free FLAC download of the album from the artist's website.

And here's his Amazon page where you can buy it and support the guy if you're so inclined.

Getting the self titled album by the Luminers would rock my brains. That said feel free to surprise me instead!

u/Jenwith1N · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I would very much love this one if chosen. :)

I know usually everyone picks tropical far away places for dream vacations. I just want to go to Salem MA. My best friend moved there 4-5 years ago and I haven't seen her since. We keep trying to make plans to fly to each other, but something always comes up. So much is happening in her and her daughter's life right now and I hate missing it. We talk on the phone and internet when we can, but she's a single mom and works super long hours at two different jobs so normally we get 5 minutes on her walk to work. Boo.. We'll get together one of these days. My fiance actually mentioned that maybe next summer we could take a trip and either meet her somewhere she could get to or go to Boston and spend time with her too. :)

Thanks for the contest! <3 Airplane!

u/watsoned · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

And you can find it here.

There's a deluxe one too that has the score but it's in CD/vinyl form only.

u/paradoxikal · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Apparently this song is pretty popular so maybe you have it too, haha.

It’s from this album I think you can buy the track individually.

The Reindeer Room: A Christmas Chillout - It is three volumes of chill holiday tunes. This is on pretty much all season for me.

Christmas Songs - Distributed by Canadian label Nettwerk, it contains some of my favorite Christmas songs by their stable of artists as well as the famed telling of Polly Anderson's Christmas Party by the late Stuart McLean.

Christmas With Weezer EP - It sounds exactly how you think Weezer doing Christmas songs would sound.

The Night Santa Went Crazy by "Weird Al" Yankovic - My wife won't let me play this when the kids are around.

Needing/Getting - OK Go, It's Time - Imagine Dragons, Mountain Sound - Of Monsters and Men, You, Me and The Bourgeoisie - The Submarines, I Love It - Icona Pop (feat. Charlie XCX)

I've tried to pick songs with a really strong beat behind them, which is what I prefer to run to. Good luck in the half-marathon, you're probably going to have quite a few BLISTERS by the end :D

u/Zoobles88 · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I'm sorry work sucks for you :( I hope it improves!

When I'm at work, I like to listen to movie scores to help me get through the day - lately it's been the Inception soundtrack :) "Time" is freaking marvelous.

I would really like the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack. The songs they picked were FANTASTIC xD

u/garage_cleaner · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Dispatch - Bang Bang

This album has a lot of great songs on it including The General, which is probably their most popular. It has some folk and ska influences, and you really have to listen to the lyrics. Ryan Elder created all the music for the tour and the movie. He put a lot of the tracks up for sale here... doesn't look like the piano track is one of them, though.

u/euphomptus · 1 pointr/NoStupidQuestions

So I listened to it on a long car trip by myself. Having the lyrics on hand helped me out a lot (long empty highways, I was safe). It's on Prime Music at the moment if you have that subscription.

  1. A Joseph Gordon-Levitt poster. Because he makes me VERY hot sweaty and I would like to do things with him that would cause me to be sweaty.

  2. There is nothing better than a slip and slide to help cool down on those hot days!

  3. No picnic would be complete without a giant ant

  4. I would love to vacation in Ireland, and I would bring home the Blarney stone [Disclaimer: Real Blarey stone is too big to bring home.]

  5. A salamander! My sister and I used to go up into the woods and collect them and put them in little plastic containers and keep them as pets. I will sadly say that we were pretty cruel to the little guys...I cannot forgive myself.

  6. On the camping trip, I would bring along a didgeridoo so that we could make sweet, sweet music in the woods. Pair with a harmonic and maybe some stump drums. Camping trips are always better with music!

  7. This sweatshirt is magical. If you watch Workaholics, you will understand.

  8. I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) by the Proclaimers is an essential song to get pumped for a road trip!

  9. I guess I shouldn't have brought my katana in my carry on! You need protection against those plane hijackers though.

  10. State Farms are so fun! My favorite food at fairs are funnel cakes. MMMMMMM.

  • BONUS #1: Your have a June birthday, pearls are June's birthstone.

  • BONUS #2: I will guess that your name is Meira because that is an awesome name :)

Thanks for hosting! This was a lot of fun! Some of the best memories are made in flip flops.

Hey Ho is the one that's been on the radio (alternative stations) but I like the whole album (it's self-titled). I also like "Flowers in Your Hair," and "Classy Girls."

Oh, and the album's. only $5 at Amazon.

u/maxpericulosus · 1 pointr/AskReddit

Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24, but since it's already been mentioned several times, I'll thrown in Christmas with Weezer for good measure.

u/JustinBOFHt · 1 pointr/gaming

One of my favorites is still the soundtrack to Bastion. Another is the soundtrack to Red Dead Redemption specifically Far Away.

Some of my favorite non-soundtrack ones are Final Fantasy VII Voices of the Lifestream and Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening: Threshold of a Dream.

I have a few others that I don't know where I found that I like as well. Specifically a Stone Tower Instrumental Remix from Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask and the Ecco the Dolphin: Tides of Time from Sega CD

  • Well, Haim is one of my favorites right now. I love this whole album. Lots of fun tunes to dance to, and play really loudly in your car. Fleetwood Mac-ish indie pop. This is also their debut album.

  • Lorde dropped her debut album, and it took me a while, but I'm really digging the music. 400 Lux, White Teeth Teens, and Buzzcut Season are a few of my favorites. She grew up with her mother reading poetry to her, so that's how she ended up making her own music. Plus, she is only 16. Bravado is a good song that is not on the album.

  • Little Games by The Colorist is a fun little song. I enjoy playing this song from this new band.

  • Hot Knife by Fiona Apple, because it's Fiona Apple. Strange little tune, but it's catchy and fun. Fiona sounds awesome in her vocals.

  • Fireshrine by Purity Ring is a really strange, but interesting electronic song.

I have a pattern for unusual music choices, but I find they are some times the best treasures.

  • Siberia and it's Acoustic version are my favorite Lights albums. Her first album was pretty good, too, but I enjoy the acoustics from Siberia.

I'm sure I can dig up more, but that should be a good start. :)
