You actually pay 6 cents MORE buying the Dual Pack. Why WOULDN'T I want individual cases for each game instead? What is the incentive? 200 potions? Seems pretty pointless to me.

u/anewempireinrags · 28 pointsr/AnimalCrossing

Those seem to be digital download cards. The "Happy Price Selection" version is comparable to "Nintendo Selects" in the US, and the orange bannered one is the same as the version pre-loaded with the WA update. From what I've heard, Sanrio packs have been sold out for months and haven't been restocked. You could ask a store employee, though.

Edit: typo, oops.

I'd be happy to help you out in finding something you like.

First, before I continue, I just want to address all of the downvotes you're getting. I'm probably going to get downvoted to hell for saying this myself, but I don't really care because I just want to help you out. Since it doesn't seem like you visit Nintendo subreddits that much, you haven't really seen how toxic a lot of Nintendo fans are on the Nintendo subreddits. On these Nintendo subreddits, usually, if you say anything remotely negative about Nintendo or anything that sounds like it insults something related to Nintendo, a lot of people start downvoting you and getting mad because a lot of them act like blind fanboys and can't take any criticism. If you go on /r/nintendoswitch, you'll definitely see this a lot (a perfect example is the posts that were made when the Nintendo Labo was first announced and all of the Nintendo fanboys were going crazy when anybody insulted it for being $70 - $80 cardboard). Things usually get better on these Nintendo subreddits as a system gets older since the people who stick around are the people who truly care about the system and its games and can handle criticisms. If you go to /r/n64 or /r/gamecube, for example, the people there are really cool, and those are really great communities. /r/3ds is starting to get better as the 3DS gets older, but it'll still take a bit of time for those Nintendo fanboys to trickle out. Since the Switch is new, /r/nintendoswitch is infested with those kinds of people and /r/nintendo is just always filled with those people.

The 3DS is a fantastic system, and personally, I think it's one of the best video game handhelds ever made. It has a fantastic lineup of games, and now is one of the best times to get into it since the system already has a huge lineup of amazing games and a lot of them are cheap. However, there are some really great games that are expensive if you want a new physical copy of the game (like Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright or Rhythm Thief).

If you want some games with great stories, The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D is a fantastic start (it's my favorite Zelda game), but I would also recommend checking out the Professor Layton games, Kid Icarus Uprising, Bravely Default & Bravely Second, The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask 3D, Fire Emblem Echoes, Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright (this game is very, very story driven), and Fantasy Life.

Since you're saying you like rhythm games, you should check out Rhythm Heaven Megamix on the eShop (that's the only place you can buy it and it's the newest Rhythm Heaven game), the original Rhythm Heaven on the DS (it's currently $10 at GameStop), and Theathrythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call (Don't pick up the first Theatrhythm game. Get Curtain Call because it has all of the content of the first plus more.).

Since you liked Katrielle Layton, you should check out the newest one on the 3DS (I haven't played it but it seems good), and like I said earlier, you should check out the Professor Layton games (Miracle Mask and Azran Legacy are great).

Since you liked TWEWY, you also might like Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance (I haven't played it in years now but it was a really great game) or TWEWY on the DS.

Recently, Nintendo gave a lot of their older titles price drops and labeled them as "Nintendo Selects" titles. They now cost $20 and a lot of them are really amazing games. Check out this page on their website to see the list of Nintendo Selects games. I would highly recommend them.

Looking at my collection of 3DS games, these are the best ones that I would very highly recommend (I'm going to be repeating some of the games that I already said): Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Kid Icarus Uprising, Pilotwings Resort (people don't talk about this game much but it's one of my favorites), New Super Mario Bros. 2 (as much hate as the series gets, I really liked this version), Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, Fire Emblem Awakening, Animal Crossing New Leaf (in my opinion, it's the best 3DS game), Project X Zone 1/2, Mario & Luigi Dream Team (it starts slow but I still really enjoyed it), Professor Layton Miracle Mask & Azran Legacy, Pokemon X/Y (just one of them), The Legend of Zelda A Link Between Worlds (an absolute must play), Tomodachi Life (not sure if you'll like this but I enjoyed it), Bravely Default & Bravely Second, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call, Super Smash Bros for 3DS (also an absolute must play), Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask 3D, Fantasy Life, Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright, Fire Emblem Fates (both Birthright and Conquest), Mario & Luigi Paper Jam, Kirby Planet Robobot, Miitopia, Fire Emblem Echoes, Metroid Samus Returns, Ultimate NES Remix, and Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions.

I know that you're saying that you want to buy digital games for the convenience of it, but I would highly recommend you purchase all of your games physically. I wrote a post about this almost two years ago, and I still stand by it today. If you want to see why I think you should stick with physical copies, click here.

I hope that gives you a good idea of what is available to you on the 3DS, and I hope this post helps you out. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me. Have fun with your 3DS! Your wife made a great decision in buying you a 3DS, and I'm sure you'll love it!

Here's another one: Bravely Second: End Layer for $19.99! Now that's a steal!

Edit: It is no longer $19.99, and it is $34.99+$4.56 shipping...

I have it on a N3DS. I personally love it. The art style looks a bit wonky at times, and the entire game runs at 30 FPS (which is standard if you've played multi-player in Hyrule Warriors), but for the most part you'll be getting the same game if you don't play Adventure Mode. There's like... three more missions at the end, plus about four Linkle missions. There's also the Master Quest DLC included in the game, which adds Cia's story missions. It also comes with... I believe six different Adventure Mode maps, which is where you'll get a lot of the Level 2/3 Weapons. The My Fairy stuff also makes things somewhat easier to get A Rank on stuff.

And as to your concern with how many things it can load at a time... well, it's sometimes like the Wii U Version where you're waiting for more enemies to spawn so you can take a keep. At other times, I use the blast from My Fairy and rack up 400+ kills off of it. So yea... YMMV.

Edit: That said, if you have the N3DS (which you do) and enjoyed the original, I'd say the current Amazon ~$30 price tag is an amazing deal on it.

Just a heads up, the person who posted the tweet used a referral link. While not in of itself bad, I just find it scummy to post one without saying that it is.

Some of these are the same price/cheaper on Amazon for a physical copy. Digital titles aren't often on sale, though, so if you prefer digital, it's a good deal.

Cheaper:

Rayman Origins $15.31

Rayman 3D $14.21

Splinter Cell $11.25

Shadow Wars $13.97

If you're on a budget it's really hard to beat a refurb 2DS from Nintendo's online store. $60 plus shipping ($5 I think). Comes with an 4GB SD card, a charger, and a warranty from Nintendo.

Then buy a couple $15-$20 Nintendo Selects like Animal Crossing and you've got a system and games for under $100.

I put a ton of time (over 60 hours) into Resident Evil: Revelations, but a lot of it was on replaying to unlock everything, and the multiplayer.
I have put about 6 hours into LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins and I feel like I am not very far through it yet, and it has the same potential for replay and unlocking.

Anyone have this game? Is it like a true Final Fantasy or is it a completely different style of game? The screenshots don't really interest me.

Shadow Wars! The game is overlooked but offers great gameplay (tactical turn based battles). It can be found for pretty cheap. Julian Gollop was the game designer for it -- you might recognize him as the original XCOM developer.

They're both great games, but TFF:CC will be easier to find for less money at this point. It's about $20 on Amazon. I'm not particularly "good" at rhythm games, even though I enjoy playing them, and I'm definitely no expert at which one will sate an avid fan of them, but here's my thoughts as a n00b:

Theatrhythm Curtain Call: (CC)

  • Songs tend to be shorter and snipped down a bit
  • Timing doesn't need to be as precise
  • More variety in rhythm gameplay (battle, event, and field/overworld)
  • More songs that span the entire series and a few extra ones in the Square Enix catalog
  • Fanservice - collecting your favorite characters to use and equip stuff in a useless RPG system.
  • You can swap out different characters in your team for different songs/stages.
  • Play versus (It needs to be unlocked)
  • Two save files
  • Quest Medley mode lets you play through a set of songs and unlocks some portions of the game.

Because of the first two reasons, I would say CC is more forgiving than Project Mirai DX. In terms of the music, I liked the song variety that CC provides more. Some beautiful orchestral tracks, 8-bit melodies, and even some Koda Kumi. I also found the beat much easier to identify and follow along to in CC, rather than DX where you follow the vocal line more.

Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX: (DX)

  • Much cuter, no wait Way cuter chibis
  • You can have extensive photoshoot sessions, using the Camera Mode, of your Vocaloid partner doing stuff like eating, sleeping, etc.
  • The sim elements let you dress your Vocaloid partner, feed them, give them money, play against them in Reversi, and decorate their home.
  • Download play for versus Puyo Puyo! (only one cart is needed)
  • Timing needs to be more exact
  • The track visually moves around sporadically in different patterns, so it's a bit harder to follow on the screen.
  • There's an alarm clock
  • Vocaloids can wear different clothes if you unlock them for their songs/performances.
  • You make a little choregraphed dance that can be shared with Streetpass.
  • AR functionality. They have the AR cards of the different vocaloids and their poses on the PM:DX site under Sega, which you can print out and use. (The Launch Edition provided them already.)

    Both:

  • The 3DS can be closed, and the games' music players will still continue to play.
  • Both have similar Streetpass functions where you give the other person a customized card.
  • A stylus Tap mode is available, but CC registers your preference between stylus or buttons, while DX simply gives you both modes for every song.

As others have said:

  1. Poochy and Yoshi's Woolly World, she has great taste, that game looks awesome! I'm very excited for it. There's two versions of the game, one standard edition (link) and a special edition with a little stuffed animal that works with the game to unlock extra features (link).

  2. This game will not run on her old DS. You would have to buy her a 3DS. Nintendo's naming style is stupid so you are going to want to get her a "New Nintendo 3DS" or "New Nintendo 3DS XL". Yes, the "New" is in the name and you should be able to see it on the packaging. You can go online to see the style choices and colors to suit her needs. There are other versions of the 3DS but these are the current/best one. It adds more power, extra controls, NFC which is needed for Amiibo and support for a few more advanced games, plus it doesn't cost anything extra as they don't sell the old style ones in stores anymore. Note: The 2DS does not have these features, it is a budget model so it is barebones.

If you are looking for a cheaper alternative you can just get an older 3DS or the 2DS which is cheaper but lacks 3D and has a different shape. Depending on if she likes 3D (like in the movie theatres) you can just get the 2DS but it does add a different amount depending on the game. Some games don't use it much, some use it a ton. Either will run the game fine, only you would need to pick up one of these (link) if you got the deluxe version of the game that has the plush animal I mentioned. The "New 3DS" line has that thing built in already so you don't need it if you go with that.

  3. Yes! It comes out on the 3rd!
u/TheLolophile · 5 pointsr/AnimalCrossing

Get yourself a 2DS system (just came out this year) or a New Nintendo 3ds system and you'll be able to play the most recent up to date version of Animal Crossing: New Leaf. All links in blue are direct links to purchase products from Amazon. The difference between the 2ds and the 3ds is that the 3ds supports an optional 3 dimensional feature that's cool to use through the system but that simply boils down to preference. 2ds is the exact same system but does not have any capability to run anything on the 3 dimensional effect. Gameplay stays the same between the systems - either route you go, you'll be set to play the game - all for under $200.

Hello! I think you're looking for Animal Crossing: New Leaf or its updated packaging Animal Crossing: New Leaf Welcome amiibo – "Welcome amiibo" is a free downloadable update for the original, so in either case you'll get access to the same game. There are some spin-off titles and some older entries in the main series, but New Leaf is the game AC fans spend most time in.

The game's built-in tutorials are the best way to get started, and you have to play through them to progress anyway so you might as well go through them without spoiling anything by reading too much about it first!

When you get bored or confused or find a particular goal you want to accomplish, you might want to check out this subreddit's FAQ or simply search past posts for advice, but when starting out you'll almost certainly have more fun just wandering around, interacting with animals and objects and discovering things for yourself.

It's much more economical to import everything at this time.
Look at Street Fighter game, for example. It costs AU$59 in Australia where as it's only US$40 in USA. Considering current exchange-rate, it would save us around US$21 dollars. And that's for only one game.

If you're looking for one with triggers, Gametech made one for the New 3DS XL:

http://www.amazon.com/GAMETECH-XL-Trigger--Black--new-3DS/dp/B00SGWGBSE/

I personally bought one myself to play MH4U, but I have a couple of complaints about the product. The first being that the ZR trigger button is always held down when I have the grip on (solved it by sanding down the trigger grip ever so slightly). The second is that it is not as comfortable as I thought it was because of the hard plastic material and the egg-shaped handles on the back. If you don't mind that, triggers work amazingly, and it ensures that you don't put too much pressure on the actual 3DS shoulder buttons.

If you want something more comfortable, I heard good reviews about the CyberGadget rubber grip. Though, I haven't personally used it myself.

If you are looking for a good fighting game to play on the go, I recommend checking out Dead or Alive. It handles combat a lot more fluidly, which may take some getting used to for somebody coming off of other fighting games, but it's worth it.

For $20, I'd say Street Fighter 4 is a good deal. It's a good game to jump into, and the mechanics are simple enough to learn. The graphics are pretty slick, and it's fun to play with friends. The people suggesting other platforms may be right in that other versions might offer more content, and if Steam eventually has a sale, you can get the PC version for a good deal, but I don't think these necessarily mean you shouldn't get the 3DS one. It's still worth considering, if you want something portable, and it's not stripped of features like many handheld ports - you get the full Street Fighter experience.

EDIT:

Dead or Alive Dimensions is on Amazon for $20, and Street fighter is on sale for $17. Just saying.

Are you into tactics games? Pretty sure you can find Ghost Recon Shadow Wars for cheap somewhere and it looks pretty entertaining. Not a showpiece at all (pretty sure it was moved up from DS), but it was developed by the creator of X-COM. Thus, its gameplay should be solid enough to hold you over until Fire Emblem and the inevitable Advance Wars and FFT games come around. :)

u/CaspianX2 · 2 pointsr/patientgamers

If you're limiting this to cartridge titles you're gonna' get fewer results, but I can recommend some:

Steel Diver, a decent submarine combat game from Nintendo.

Scribblenauts Unlimited - A good entry in a solid game series.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars, a good strategy-RPG.

Also, regular DS games (which play on the 3DS). Unlike 3DS games, DS games are not region-sensitive, so you can play imports just fine on your US system, too:

Elite Beat Agents - Probably the best music-rhythm game on the DS.

Rhythm Heaven - Another very good music-rhythm game, albeit more in the abstract.

Sonic Colors and Sonic Rush - Surprisingly good Sonic games.

Mama's Combo Pack - I've never played Camping Mama, but Cooking Mama is a great series of food-themed touchscreen minigames.

Geometry Wars: Galaxies - A great space shooter

WarioWare DIY - A fun entry in Nintendo's "microgame" series, with a "custom build it yourself" twist.

N+ - A simple, but extremely fun and challenging, ninja platformer game.

Pac Pix - A fun arcadey game where you draw Pac-Man to eat ghosts.

Jam Sessions and its sequel - Not a game as much as a tool to create music. Still, very good.

Bust-A-Move DS - A surprisingly good version of this classic puzzle game series with touchscreen support.

Polarium DS - A good, if simple, puzzle game.

Touchmaster, More Touchmaster, Touchmaster Connect and Touchmaster 3 - Good minigame collections.

Pipe Mania - A decent take on the old "Pipe Dream" puzzle game.

u/metroidgus · 2 pointsr/nintendo

The Hyrule Edition N3DS I linked does indeed come with Hyrule Warriors Legends depending on the bundle! I actually bought one for my birthday, and it got delivered today! Here is the bundle I bought:

*Hyrule Edition N3DS

It was worth the money and is a gorgeous N3DS, plus it is XL so it has a decent size screen! If your friends also have 3DS consoles, there is a smash game on that you could all look into. Splatoon was fun, and is really entertaining with friends, but I do find it repetitive after playing for a while. You could also try Amazon to see if they have any decent bundles or sales on consoles, I have seen a few good daily deals over the past year.

EDIT: I looked at your link in another comment, and I don't think that version does come with the game, however you can get it with Triforce heroes for $239.98, but obviously you want Hyrule Warriors, so if you buy the console on gamestop and buy the game here:
Hyrule Warriors Legends
You can get the Hyrule edition console and the game for a similar price! Its actually like $00.02 cheaper! Deals^Deals^Deals!

Shin Megami Tensei IV and its sequel Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse. You may be familiar with the franchise already, the popular Persona 5 is a part of it.

  • Its an amazing game that sucked me in with its challenge and incorporation of all kinds of lore and mythical creatures as your enemies/allies from Norse/Chinese/Gaelic/Japanese/Islamic myth, to the more known Christian angels and Greek myth.

  • It's a very similar game to Pokemon in that you have to capture (negotiate) the pokemon (demons) and train them to learn new moves and then evolve (fuse 2 of them together and combine their moves together into a new demon) then catch more demons and repeat. All demons are weak to certain move types, but instead of Pokemon's 17 types, there are only 8.

  • It also has a morality system, but instead of being the standard Good vs Evil, its Law vs Chaos. So instead of games like Infamous and Mass Effect where you become either Jesus or the Anti-Christ by the end of the game, you become a Totalitarian Dictator where the word of God is Law, or an Anarchist where its Survival of the Fittest and Rule by Power. So you have to take a path in the middle of the two extremes to get things done. No other series really does this, and its really interesting.

  • As tired as the expression is, It is like Dark Souls in that its challenging, and expects you to step up to the plate and learn the game, and if you dont, you wont make it out of the first area. But as soon as you do, the rest of the game is much simpler and more fun than anything else, and easily the most fun I've had with a new game franchise in a long, long time.

  • All the cut scenes are fully voiced as well, for what it's worth, as well as being able to transfer your save data to the Sequel for a bonus.

  • Its also easily a 50+ hour game, so it will last you a while.

My other big recommendation is Bravely Default, and its sequel Bravely Second. The combat is also the most impressive thing about the game, and its hard to explain, so try the free demo for either game on the eShop. If you do try the Demo, and beat it, it gives you a bonus if you play the full game. Both are fantastic games, and are throwbacks to classic Final Fantasy games of the NES and SNES era. If you do try either demo and beat it, it will unlock a bonus in its own full game.

  • Just like SMT IV above, All the cut scenes are fully voiced as well, for what it's worth, as well as being able to transfer your save data to the Sequel for a bonus.
u/mrhabalhabal · 2 pointsr/3DSdeals

If you're not in a hurry to buy one, I've gotten mine for $30 total (included shipping), on ebay, you just have to be vigilant in searching. Tales of the Abyss (in ebay once again) costs around $15-25 if you search around (not brand new and usually it's just the cartridge, but you'll save a lot if you're not picky).

I mainly save money because I don't care about the packaging/cases/bonus items since I buy just buy the games themselves. You can also check in the subpages of amazon for other sellers: https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B01EAIWW6M

>Pocket Jockeys? There's a horse named "of course", this ones not that helpful.

How dare you, that game rules.

As everyone else has already said, she's got the hardware for it! Consider getting her this bundle. It's essentially the game she's interested in, plus an amiibo (figurine) of the adorable sidekick of the game, made of real yarn. She may not be able to "use" it in-game since she has an older 3DS (they have NFC chips in them that add minor perks to games,) but that's of little consequence -- it's still an incredibly cute figurine that any fan of the game would love to receive as a gift.

unless it's sealed just hold onto it... i mean if you dont play it anymore or want it sell it obviously... but gamestop sells it at a fair price new and used as long as you can find one in your area compared trying to pick one up new from amazon... too lazy to look up used on ebay but you get my point.

Also if anyone looking for this game wanted to go the gamestop route but there's not one showing in your area they can get one transferred to whatever store is closest to you from another store if you go in and ask them nicely...

or call up/go in and ask them if their "web in store" has it in stock so that way you can just go in... order it.. and it gets mailed to you from their warehouse.

Welcome back!

Here's my list of suggestions, why, and links to where to get them. A few are only available on computer, but you'll see which ones:

  • Thomas Was Alone (Meta. A cute puzzle game about AIs, and their relationship to the game and developers. It's simple in graphics and big on heart. = computer - itunes - android
  • The Stanley Parable (another meta game. About the players role in games itself and their relationship to the developers. This is a MUST HAVE for anyone who is really into games. It's fantastic, hilarious and oddly artsy) = computer -
  • Telltale's "The Walking Dead" seasons 1 & 2. (These are some of the best games I've played. Point and Click adventure games that everyone loves, even those who don't like point and click games. They are extremely emotional and heart-pounding. I recommend it highly, especially if you want a game that you can watch him play, or vice versa, and really get a fantastic story. Storyline continues based on your decisions in the previous game) = SEASON ONE: computer - PS3 - XBOX360 - PSVITA - iPhone/iPad (first episode free, others are in-game purchases, same with all the mobile games) - Android === SEASON 2: computer - PS3 - XBOX360 - iPhone/iPad - Android
  • To The Moon (sweet looking 16 bit game that is more of an interactive story. It routinely makes people cry because it's so darned sweet. Love is a central theme.) = computer
  • Borderlands 2 and/or Borderlands the PreSequel (both fun and funny FPS games that you can run coop if you like) = BORDERLANDS 2: computer - XBOX360 - PS3 === BORDERLANDS PRESEQUEL: computer - XBOX360 - PS3
  • Portal (fun and funny puzzle game - but he MAY have already played this if the Half-Life 2 he got was the full "The Orange Box")
  • Portal 2 (also fun and funny, but with a coop mode as well) = computer - XBOX360 - PS3
  • Fallout 3 and/or Fallout: New Vegas (Post apocolypic games that are fun and often funny. They are open world RPGs with FPS playing style, although you can switch to 3rd person. Fallout 3 is more epic, grand and is more metropolitan, and Fallout New Vegas is more like a spaghetti western, intimate, and has better writing/storyline in my opinion) = FALLOUT 3: computer - XBOX360 - PS3 == FALLOUT: NEW VEGAS: computer - XBOX360 - PS3
  • Mass Effect 1, 2, & 3 (RPG/FPS set the future, in space, where the storyline continues, using your decisions from the previous games) = computer - XBOX360 - PS3
  • Red Dead Redemption (an open world RPG/FPS that takes pages from both spaghetti westerns and film noir. If you get this, be sure to get the add on called "Undead Nightmare", where you fight Zombies and meet mythical creatures. The base game is more artsy, and Undead Nightmare is just a squat load of fun.) The links that follow have both thenormal game, and Undead Nightmare in one. = XBOX360 - PS3

  • A different idea is to actually get him a wireless controller for his phone! If he has an Andriod, I would suggest the Power A Moga Hero Power It's portable, holds the phone, and I just am in love with mine. And because I have an Andriod, I can download ROMs to play older games like Zelda: Ocarina of Time, etc etc. But the controller works with SO many games! If he has an iPhone or iPad, or if you want another option for Android, I would go with the iPega. I don't have one, but it has the highest reviews.

As for if you should give 1 or 2 gifts, I think 2 might be a lot of fun! But it might depend on what the "1st place" person has on their list and what you want to give them! I'd say make the decision based off of what you want to give the main winner! =)

    ===========

EDIT - 3DS Games to consider:

  • Fire Emblem: Awakening - it's one of the best RPGs out for the 3DS. It's immersive and epic. Top reviews across the board.
  • Animal Crossing: New Leaf because everyone loves it so much and it's just adorable.
  • Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney because anything Phoenix Wright related is flipping amazing and totally fun.
  • Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance A great option if he's played other Kingdom Hearts games.
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. Especially if he's into Zelda, I agree with others that this is a nice option. Top-down action that returns to Zelda's roots.

edit 2: P.S: I'm new. I'll be making an intro post hopefully tonight! So hopefully it's alright that I posted here first. I was just excited, as I'm a gamer and love helping people with what to play next. In any event... HI!!

Some people might flip those two but if you were to take a poll I think MH4U might come out on top overall. Plus you can get it for like half the price of Generations so you might be better off, and there are surely many hours to be put into it and by the time you do so Generations might be cheaper by then if you want more. Here it is on Amazon for $20:

https://www.amazon.com/Monster-Hunter-Ultimate-Standard-Nintendo-3DS/dp/B00SX9UD8E/

I think the digital download version is also on sale for $20 on the Nintendo eShop currently since there is a Capcom publisher sale through next week I believe.

As far as some other titles to start a library goes, it depends on what genres you like of course, but it's hard to go wrong with any of the main 3DS Zelda titles (Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, A Link Between Worlds), Donkey Kong Country Returns, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Shovel Knight, Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, Star Fox 64.

Resident Evil Revelations is also very good and currently on sale for $5 on the eShop, which is a steal.

True, but OP would have to spend new game price money on MHXX if it comes to the west and MH4U's Physical Edition is right now cheaper than MHGen's eShop sale price.

There's more content to MH4U since it has G rank in it already and still has the benefit of online MP. Later on OP could get MHXX if it's released for rest of world and have two completely different games instead of two similar ones.

If MHXX hadn't been announced for Japan, I would have recommended MHGen. My personal preference would be to not pay 80 USD total for first the base game, then technically an upgrade later. I am a budget gamer, so that influences my purchase mindset.

Here are some of my recommendations

  • Mario Golf World Tour $19 on Amazon; there is ton of content in this game and if you played the old mario golf on the N64 you will love it. Great for quick sessions.
  • Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate $39 on amazon (or 3 Ultimate $19 if you want cheaper); This game takes a bit to get into, but both 4U and 3U do a decent job teaching you the ropes. This game has hundreds of hours of content and is a really unique game. 4U does have online multiplayer so that extends the life greatly. Also 4U has new FREE DLC each Friday at the beginning of each month. IF you do get this and need help please PM. I love help people get into the game.
  • Fantasy Life $38 on amazon; This game is a mix between Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon. The basics of the game is you pick a 'life' you want to play like a fisher, or a mage, or a alchemist and just do stuff. If you get bored of the 'life' you choose you can switch whenever you want. Again a game with hundreds of hours of content.

I won't go into the DS recommendations...since dang there are TONS of amazing games for that system.

However for some weird reason it has the description of Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition.

So in the Shin Megami Tensei 'main series', Shin Megami Tensei IV (SMTIV) is the fourth game without any significant story ties to the other main series games.

In terms of SMTIV, there are two games: SMTIV the original game, and SMTIV Apocalypse, its sequel. The sequel involves some story elements from the original game, so you probably want to play the original game first.

Here's some basic info: both of them are turn-based RPGs, and the difficulty level is rather high compared to most of the other games on the 3DS. Especially the beginning of SMTIV. Be prepared to die, maybe often. Also, the story is pretty important in this series, so I would suggest playing them in order. The games are both very good, but Apocalypse might be slightly better? I think it's just personal preference. Either way, I'd play both.

For a little bit, poochy on amazon had sold out, but then came back like 30 mins later lol

Edit: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LDUYTYS/

Bundle is sold out..

Infact.. All the new amiibo announced earlier today that were up on pre-order are sold out.. so yeah 1 hour could make a difference.

u/amiibo720 · 1 pointr/amiibo

I found the bundle here on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LDUYTYS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I hope you're able to order it, it's really cute :)

u/GambitsEnd · 1 pointr/3DS

That is rather strange...

I did find the Target page with the pre-order. And since they're doing a sale, it's available at 15% off.

Also found Amazon's page for it, but it's been scrubbed of pictures and information.

Now I'm also trying to decide if I should attempt an order through Target or just wait and see.

Here's the link to the Amazon listing if anyone's interested.

Looks like Best Buy sold out again but it's still up on Amazon for now.

u/Bob-B1 · 1 pointr/3DS

My original post had links to a used "Good" Condition Version for Roughly $48.00. I found a much better offer for anyone interested. Another seller is listing"Very Good" condition copies that are Refurbished and Factory Sealed for a dollar or so more. It is Prime Eligible and does not have many of the OP listings faults. Item is described by seller below.

Condition and notes:

Used - Very Good

Downloadable content (DLC) or codes for online play may require additional purchase. Item may come repackaged. Factory Sealed.

You could try the "Email Me" button on the page, but I've found that posts on Reddit regarding availability are always WAY faster than emails from Amazon...

I have this, but for the standard sized N3DS instead of the XL.

I bought it thinking I'd use it a ton for MH, but I just didn't like the way it felt. Everything else about it is fine.

It's been sitting on my desk for the last few months. If you want it, throw me shipping and a few bucks for beer and it's yours.

Let me know, I can text you pictures tonight if you like. PM me for details.
