THIS IS AWESOME!

I personally use a PS4 controller and LOVE it! They are right AT your 50 dollar limit though :-/

Love to see the spreading of cheer!

On a similar note, I recently purchased a DualShock 4 PlayStation controller just for gaming on my Mac. No driver needed; Steam and lots of other games natively support it. It pairs via Bluetooth by pressing the PS and Share buttons for a few seconds. You can also use it wired via USB. I would highly recommend it.

Jesus Christ fine if it will make you shut the fuck up and go away.

I would recommend the tekken 7 rap4, same parts but different layout (arguably more ergonomic) and more wrist space AND has headphone plug support.

Knuckles are too expensive, I expected maybe $150 in order to get most vive owners on board, but as one comparison Sony is still selling these decade old lollypops for $90: https://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-Move-Motion-Controllers-Pack-4/dp/B07B4BFC6S

This dongle paired with DS4W is a god send. I used to have everything hooked up with wires and that was a huge pain in the ass. Also using a bluetooth dongle with windows 7 didn't work for shit, even after countless tinkering. I bought the ps4 dongle separate. Plugged it in, hit the button to pair, picked up the controller immediately, and DS4W picked it up right after. I haven't had any issues with it not working on any games.

However there is one flaw, and that is if you want to hook up another controller you will have to buy another dongle. Sucks, but buying a second dongle will allow you to hook up another controller.

and I guess one other flaw is the battery life of the PS4 controller, but I purchased https://www.amazon.com/Collective-Minds-Chatboost-Battery-playstation-4/dp/B00QU93WW8

Works like a champ, and doubles my battery life. and now I can use that bluetooth dongle I bought originally to hook up the controller with, to that chatpad.

Qanba Obsidian

  • Currently on sale on their main website.

    HORI Fighting Edge

    Razer Panthera Evo

    Hori Rap 4 Kai

The 'Hori Rap 4 Kai' used to be the most popular until the 'Qanba Obsidian' came along. From what I've seen, the Qanba Obsidian is the most popular stick right now. The 'Razer Panthera Evo' is an updated version of the 'Razer Panthera' and it's a solid stick from what I've read.

Personally, I'm looking to get the 'Hori Fighting Edge' next because the button layout got me curious and the aluminum panel seems really nice.

I have the Qanba Obsidian and Hori Rap 4 Kai so I can speak a little about those.

    >Qanba Obsidian

Quite big in size and heavy. Definitely sturdy. Lots of room to rest your arms on. Custom art work replacement is easy. Same goes for replacing the buttons. The miscellaneous buttons up top are a little too small and fat fingering a button happens sometimes.

    >Hori Rap 4 Kai

The size and weight lean towards average. It'll rest on your lap nicely and not feel overbearing. Custom art work replacement requires a little work because the default artwork has strong adhesive binding it to the steel plate inside. Replacing buttons is no problem. Miscellaneous buttons are on the right side underneath the right wing. You can also rebind buttons.

I've always been a fan of blue, but as I've gotten older, the shade I prefer has changed.

A great comparison is the PS4 controller I was considering and the one I bought.

I was considering the blue controller but saw the gray blue controller and liked it more, which also lines up more with how my preference has changed over the years.

I tend to prefer more subdued blues than the brighter blues I preferred when I was younger.

im probably going to try it on PC and see how it plays maybe end up getting it for both.
looking into getting that new Tekken 7 Hori fightstick. i really like the black one thats meant for PS4 but since dont have a PS4 im kinda stuck getting the white one unless i only play on PC or just get a brooks super converter. i also noticed that the PS4 tekken fightstick has a few more features like Turbo that the xbox one version does not.

yup, you use the keyboard attachment like a normal attachment and the ds4 touchpad becomes the mouse, although it initially needs some tweaking for sensitivity / button clicking. i use this program to configure it:
http://ds4windows.com/

and this is the keyboard attachment:

http://www.amazon.com/Collective-Minds-Chatboost-Battery-playstation-4/dp/B00QU93WW8/ref=pd_sim_63_10?ie=UTF8&dpID=41BqrkTTpiL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=0F69SPHX4TBVTQW5ESQG

Disclaimer: its a bit awkward and first. takes a while to tweak and get use to typing while using the controller. so be prepared for that if you decide to go this route

Edit: you can also use the gyroscope for mouse to. like tilting you controller to move the mouse. thats how i have it now

Fightstick

PCB

Joystick

Button plunger

Button base

Dustwasher

Shaft

Battop

LED's

Driver

Breakout board

I think I spent around $600 on it, though half of that was the fightstick itself. I'm not finished however, there are a few more things I want to add:

  1. Custom panel, preferably one with a Sega 8 button layout, and some custom artwork, preferable of Super Sentai (I was thinking of doing it with Kyuranger and making the joystick a balltop of one of the Kyutama but I like battops more)

  2. A gold plunger for the 24mm button

  3. A hollow sanwa clear battop for an LED that will diffuse the light properly

  4. A different cable, preferably a braided or flat cable

What do you guys think? This is my first major mod on a fightstick, I've never changed a PCB before though I didn't have to do any soldering so it wasn't really that hard

Yeah they are and trust me you're not alone. Both Sony and Microsoft cut back on their controllers this gen and are using cheaper plastic parts. There are plenty of videos on youtube about it. If it's not breaking, you're not playing.

I've owned the OG PS4 and now the Pro and both controllers crapped out within a few months. I strongly recommend this one.

https://www.amazon.com/DualShock-Wireless-Controller-PlayStation-Wave-4/dp/B01MQGVH94?th=1

Someone recommended that one to me (blue controller) and knock on wood it's always worked without fail. You don't have to get it via Amazon. Best Buy, Walmart etc... also sell them.

This is like the All red controller vs the Red and Black controller.

All Red

Red and black

IIRC, the red and black are only available over seas whereas the all red is state side. (I have the red and black because the all red was not available at the time. Of course it became available, 3 weeks or so after I bought it)

I just followed instructions online about how to replace thumbsticks. Opening the controller was a little scary and I thought I broke it like 3 times just because the parts need to be pulled at and popped out, but in the end, everything is working 100% and is officially the coolest and best feeling controller I have ever owned

u/Dr_Thumbs · 2 pointsr/FortNiteBR

Hey /u/Gemini_99, I have a HORI Tac Grip that I purchased but never ended up using. It's basically half a controller. Sounds like it might be perfect for you. It can be set up to either emulate a PS4 controller, or function as a native KB+M. And you can plug any mouse into it too. I would happily give it to you for free if you think it might be good... it's just collecting dust right now.

Here's my setup

Yes, yes, I know, I have a CRT instead of a flat screen TV. If you'd also notice, I play more old consoles than new and CRT is superior to flat screen for them (and much cheaper). Ideally I'll be upgrading to a small (~20") Sony Trinitron. The 32" ones are free and widely available but they're sooooo big and heavy.

Just got a Wii motion sensor bar so I can play light gun games on my PC and use the WiiMote as a remote control. Also thinking about racing games with the steering wheel attachment. Monitors are from Craigslist ($35 and $10 respectively). CRT was a gift from a friend. It's dying though (discoloration). Pre-amp and speakers were also gifts from friends. PC and consoles I bought myself.

That's a good reason. It mostly comes down to small preferences like that. Sticks are fine. I use them myself actually (I have a gen 1 TE, a shitty gen 1 SE, and a Hori VLX). It's just not strictly better like our FGC forefathers used to claim lol

Speaking of which, would you be interested in buying a VLX? I have one, but I never use it anymore. I'm actually thinking about switching to hitbox. The backplate for the little compartment on the left is gone but besides that it's in perfect condition.

I bought this off Amazon and love it

http://www.amazon.com/Ortz%C2%AE-PS4-Wireless-Mini-Bluetooth-Keyboard/dp/B00UMF35MS

Much better than having to balance a keyboard and swap between the two, however if you're a fast typer this will feel a little slower since its more like texting on a keyboard phone rather than typing with a normal pc kb.

u/BoyBreakSky · 2 pointsr/elderscrollsonline

When I was playing a lot, I used a keyboard that attached to my ps4 controller. It plugged into the mic slot that is under the PS button so the keyboard sat in between the handles of the controller. Here is an Amazon link to the one I have.

I honestly don’t know what to recommend. I sent my Scuf Vantage in for repair earlier this month, it was suffering from severe dead zones in both sticks that made playing any shooters impossible since you just can’t fine tune your aim when there’s dead zones. My Vantage also suffered from an odd issue where the analog sticks would make clicking sounds without even pushing them down to activate sprint, you could also physically feel like they were hitting something internally, the issue still persisted even after removing the analog sticks and swapping them out for different ones.

I purchased a Nacon Revolution Pro 2 controller while I wait for my Vantage to return from repair, but I also can’t recommend it since The triggers are shaped oddly, so when you guys push them to shoot it kinda sinks your fingers in at an angle and it just doesn’t feel right. The Nacon does offer a lot of customization via the pc software that lets you tweak dead zones and how the controller behaves, but even with tweaking it still feels weird while playing games, also the Nacon isn’t wireless.

Right now I would recommend people to wait if they’re in the market for a pro controller, Astro announced their C40 TR controller which looks great, you can move the modules around, so if you like the stick DS4 stick layout you can have that, but if you like the Xbox one stick layout you can move the analog sticks around and have it set up like an Xbox one controller. The Astro C40 is also the same price as the Scuf Vantage at 200 bucks, only downside is that it releases in March of next year, but if I personally didn’t already purchase a Vantage I would have just waited for the Astro controller, but they didn’t announce it back when I was looking for a new controller. I bought the stick as well he was selling 12 sticks as a new seller from Texas, USA all gone within 24 hrs. The Item has been dispatched.

This stick Hori Arcade Stick VLX retails for $300 here is the proof https://www.amazon.com/Arcade-Premium-Fighting-Stick-PlayStation-Licensed/dp/B015HAKX36/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1499096208&sr=8-1&keywords=hori%2Barcade%2Bstick%2Bvlx&th=1 so either the seller is dumb or he is false advertising.

Anyway I'm sure Amazon are tough against cases like this.

u/zrith1 · 2 pointsr/fightsticks

I'm assuming you are on ps4/pc? There are a ton of good sticks to pick from.

  • Hori Fighting edge

  • Razer Panthera

  • Qanba Obsidian

  • Madcatz te2/te2+

They are all in the $200 price range and are all great sticks. Personally I have a te2 and love it. For the most part, it just comes down to preference. If I had to pick, I'd probably go for the Panthera since I don't think Madcatz is making sticks again after they came back.

All of these sticks besides the Hori fighting edge use sanwa parts. The Hori stick uses their own parts, but they are really solid from what I've heard (you can swap buttons/joysticks in any of these sticks, so it isn't the biggest deal).

In terms of using custom art, the Te2 is probably the easiest. The Panthera and Te2 are the easest to mod overall because of their clamshell designs where you can open them up with buttons on the front, but all of these sticks are easy to mod.

I've tried an obsidian and didn't like the shape of the case or the way it looks, but that is just my preference.

I'd just look up each of the sticks and see which one looks best to you. You can't really go wrong with any of them.

The Glacier White DS4 is actually cheaper than the standard black controller right now on Amazon.

It would be nice to have the 20th Anniversary version, but releasing it publicly and separately would diminish the entire concept of what they were trying to do with the anniversary edition in the first place.

I don't really have any other recommendations, other than the PS4 controller and a wireless dongle.

Own

PS4 Controller - Wave Blue: Great controller, no complaints. All of them are identical, but I do own a Wave Blue colored one.

Wireless Adaptor for PS4 Controller: Works great for me. Tried all those bluetooth dongles people use, but this has been the only thing that gives me 100% connection reliability.

Don't Own

Mayflash MAGIC-NS Universal Controller Adapter: This is just easier to find than the official PS4 controller wireless adapter, and looks a lot nicer, feature-wise.

Most Recommended, Cheap, and Still Better Than Others (That I Don't Own)

iBuffalo Controller (New Production): Might be better than the original run, but I don't own it, so I can't say for sure.

Full Console and Handheld Compatibility (That I Own)

Wii U Pro Controller: Is nice overall, but awkward to an Xbox 360/PlayStation 1/2/3/4 user, and I find the d-pad and face buttons a little on the small side.

PS3 Controller: Has an okay d-pad. Rest is fine.

Xbox 360 Controller: Has a terrible d-pad. Wireless dongles are prone to failure. Rest is fine.

Full Console and Handheld Compatibility (That I Don't Own)

8Bitdo Controllers: No opinion concerning them as I don't own any, but people around here seem to like them.

Nintendo Switch Pro Controller: Don't own it either. Compatible with RetroPie and Raspberry Pi's bluetooth, though I'd get Mayflash new universal wireless dongle I linked to earlier for it, to avoid the ghost inputs that happen over the Raspberry Pi's bluetooth.

Logitech Gamepad F310/F710: I did own the F310 at one point, but I didn't like the d-pad. F710 appears to use the exact same d-pad, with the added bonus of a wireless controller.

i have the keyboard to controller attachment with the mini-keyboard and it's not too bad, also functions as a controller battery extender. it is very literally a step up from using your on-screen interface and a step below using a usb keyboard/bluetooth keyboard. it is pretty cheap and light and fits into the controller in such as way that it doesn't make the controller uncomfortable at all. I have had no problems with it and in fact just leave it plugged in to the controller 100% of the time.

u/No_Pepper · 2 pointsr/Tekken

NP and good luck! If your heart is dead set on that design, $400 isn't a terrible deal considering a broken TE2+ goes for at least $200 (for some goddamn reason), the EZ mod/Brook UFB combo is another $140, and you'll be lucky to ever find red side panels to begin with, let alone pay less than $70-$100 for them.

Otherwise, you can save $150-200 or so and get a HORI pad that's just as good, if not better. They even make a Tekken 7 version if you can find it.

u/Squadaloo · 2 pointsr/PSVR

The move controllers with just buttons (these) are the ones that work with PSVR. You can either use the versions released with PS3 or newer updated ones for PS4: the only difference is that the newer version has longer battery life and uses micro usb to charge instead of mini usb. You'll want two move controllers as most games that require them require one for each hand.

The move controller with a thumbstick (this) is the navigation controller. It is unused in all currently released PSVR games and likely will not be used in the future as it cannot be tracked in VR by the camera. One game has been announced to support it, but even then people are skeptical as to whether that info is correct.

The main brands are madcatz, hori, qanba and razr.

Everyone seems to like those and you can usually customize them to your liking.

Some players like sanwa buttons but others like semitsu and some like ball top but others like bat top and some like heavy sticks but others...most like heavier sticks.

I've never heard anything bad about the brands I've mentioned.

Also, you can always customize the art work for cheap yourself so don't worry about how it looks.

If you have limited space and only 1-2 controllers, I’ve found the Nyko Modular Charge Station to be a good product. The one I have is different than the one pictured in the product listing on Amazon, but still works great.
If you watch Blu-rays or stream movies/TV with your PS, the PDP Bluetooth Enabled Media Remote Control is really nice to have. Sadly, it doesn’t work while playing games, as I had hoped in order to automate my gameplay of Injustice 2.

u/pyja8 · 1 pointr/audiophile

Dear audiophiles,

my question in short: what is/how do I find out the infrared code to control a Teufel Decoderstation 5 via universal remote?

I purchased the universal remote for PS4, hoping that I would be able to control all my devices with it. Bluetooth pairing with the PS4 works just fine as does the IR pairing with the TV. My audio system though is a Teufel e300 with the according Decoderstation 5.
The auto pairing function of the remote is unsuccessful - it seems to trigger some random function, but doesn't manage to turn off the device as it should. Next step would be manual pairing. However, I cannot seem to find the necessary IR code. Even the manufacturer itself appears to have no clue what the IR code is. Obiously, my online research didn't produce results, otherwise I wouldn't post here.
Are there any previous experiences with this issue? Is there any way to find out the code?

I'd appreciate your support!

EDIT: I managed to pair a universal remote app on my phone with the Decoderstation 5, thus it definitely is possible.

Regardless, this is the first online multiplayer game I've ever played that doesn't have voice chat built in, yet requires more teamwork and communication to play than most other online games. Almost a must have really.

I'm also trying out an Astro C40 ($200) and a Razer Raiju Ultimate ($232) for comparison.

I'm really trying to up my aerial game, the paddles are key here since I refuse to remap the basic buttons and retrain my brain after 1700 hours.

Funny thing is though, I'm mapping air roll left to right paddle and air roll right to left paddle. Just seems more intuitive that way for me, like I'm rotating the car up instead of down on each respective side, since the paddle pressing is up and not down. Leaving L/R bumpers as air roll left/right, since I press the buttons down. Weird, maybe, but makes sense to me and I've gotten fewer blackout moments in training.

Yep. As touched upon below, it turning off after a certain amount of time without touching it is very annoying. Couple that with the fact that it eats through batteries quickly, as well as being generally unresponsive, and it becomes rather annoying. Just go check out the reviews for it on Amazon and you'll see what I mean.

Let's go ahead and ban this one, yeah?

Let's go ahead and ban Arcade sticks, since that gives a distinct advantage over controller players.

Let's go ahead and ban racing wheels, since that gives a distinct advantage over controller players.

If it were up to you, EVERY single peripheral that offers an "advantage" in games would be banned, because you can't come to grips with the fact that maybe you're not as good as you objectively THINK you are. Oh no, it couldn't have been the fact I was in a gun fight with someone who has a fully kitted weapon and has Gold (lvl 5) body armor, THEY MUST BE USING A XIM. This is a personal attack against disabled gamers, because you can't accept the fact that you suck at FPS.

Such inclusive. Much wow.

This is the official PS4 adapter. This is not a native keyboard mouse device.

And again I would use a native keyboard mouse. I would play with other native keyboard mouse players. I don't want to play with PC players. You just wait till the aimbots and wall hacks come out. You just wait until they make the aimbot work for controller. That's going to be a wild ride. You're all going to be fucked. Then you can cry about cheating for real.

These are the best sticks at the moment for ps4, IMO.

Hori Real Arcade Pro 4 Kai $150 (black/white/blue/red) (Hori / Sanwa / Seimitsu)

This stick has a Hori branded joystick and buttons (Hayabusa & Kuro) Hayabusa has a good feeling, even considered slightly better than Sanwa by some.

Kuro buttons are quite a different feeling, they are matte with less sensibility than sanwa and have more travel from pressing the button to reach the bottom and being detected.
Most people get rid of their Kuro buttons and swap with Sanwa's tbh, but some like it.

Arcadeshock sells these sticks already modified with Sanwa or Seimitsu parts for some $10 bucks more.

Amazon

Arcaseshock

Qanba Obsidian $200 (Full Sanwa) - Side leds, made more of metal. Shiny, solid, wide and looks cool.

Arcadeshock

Amazon

Razer Panthera $200: (Full Sanwa) - Front button to open and easly access the stick, lower input delay than other sticks (except Broo's UFGB).

Razer

Amazon

Qanba Dragon $300 (Full Sanwa) - Unnecessarily expensive, stick is a tank, easy open design and like 90% of full metal body.

Arcadeshock

Amazon

Hori Real Arcade Pro V. Premium VLX $300 (Black/Red) (Hori parts) - So big it's uncomfortable to travel with, playing with it feels awesome I got one.
Cons are the joystick sounds a little bit too hollow when moving around (you can get used to tho) and has tons of input delay. With some modifications (changing the PCB with a UFGB and Kuro for Sanwa buttons) it's an awesome stick.

Are you looking for something on the smaller or larger side? This one is rare and has good parts, but for the price you can get something like the Qanba Obisdian which is very nice imo. A few other good options at that price are the Razer Panthera (if you can find one) and the Hori Tekken 7 stick. All of these that I mentioned will work on both PS4 and PC

u/melee_noodle · 1 pointr/PS5

Look at this mouse and keyboard officially licensed by Sony. How do you think they will ban them if they encourage them?

400£ is 520 USD and that is 220 USD more than the PS4

"I'm educated enough" if you are that educated than why don't you show it instead of saying it? You can't just say you are superior and expect other to consider you that way.

"There's a difference between opinion and fact. I don't care for your subjective remarks" Well we are discussing about if mouse and keyboard should be allowed or not and if it is cheating. This is purely subjective and based on opinion. About the PC, every price you say is more that the PS4 and I have proven that through facts. So where are my "subjective remarks"?

Personally, I don't like any of the current Hori sticks. But people are always releasing new sticks. I'm not a huge fan of the artwork on the Razer, but the stick is quality. u/stop_drop_rofl · 1 pointr/PS4

Generally developers try and make games so they won't ever drop below 30fps...but I suppose it is always possible for it to happen if there are a lot of things happening on screen at once.

I haven't played Driveclub, but Killzone/Infamous/Knack have all been consistently smooth for me from start to finish.

Killzone is 30fps in single player, and 60fps in multiplayer, Infamous varies from about 30-45 unless you choose to cap it at 30 (in game option), and I don't know about Knack...but it was smooth.

Also, you can replace the ds4 thumb sticks with Xbox One sticks, or aluminum ones, or get thumb stick covers

\
= something weird about Killzone's multiplayer...it's interlaced vertically with some type of frame prediction engine to smooth it out...it LOOKS 60fps, and that's all that matters IMO.

u/Wakabala · 1 pointr/PS4

On a related note, is there ANY USB controller-keyboards for the PS4? Wireless USB connection works fantastic and I love it, but every bluetooth keyboard I've tried has been shitty and unreliable. The disconnects and time it takes to re-connect just isn't worth it.

u/Diavir · 1 pointr/ffxiv

I'll answer the ones I feel like I can give you a decent answer to

  • Loaded by zones
  • Largely yes the quests are kill x, gather this
  • The story is fantastic, I really enjoyed it save for 1 or 2 developments I personally disagreed with
  • To do normal modes, no you do not need to dedicate much time in order to do them, there is a party finder which will group you with others. There are currently two end game raids, Alexander Normal (Casual friendly)/Savage (Think Mythic from WoW) that requires 8 players, and Void Ark (LFR difficulty casual friendly raid) which is only completable using party finder and requires 24 players and does not have a Savage version. Alexander is separated into queueable floors with a single boss on each and Void Ark is done as a wing but takes no where near 3 hours to complete, under an hour at the very most.
  • I personally had no issues playing on PS4 in terms of the screen being cluttered but to each their own.
  • FPS is fine in dungeons/fates/raids I never experienced an issue save for in hunts due to the sheer amount of people on screen at the time but it was never unbearable by any means. The controls for the game are fantastic on PS4, it really is the first MMO that has taken using a controller seriously. I've since moved from PS4 to PC and I still use a controller to play the game if that says anything.
  • Yes the game is insanely solo-friendly especially compared to FFXI, I completed the story/raids by myself for the large part. Dungeon finder helps to alleviate this.
  • There is a transmog system in the game that unlocks at level 50, but until then yes everyone looks pretty much the same
  • Cons: Content can feel sparse at max level if you burn through it quickly
  • Typing: I'm not sure, I almost never typed while I was on PS4, you can get a keyboard that attaches to the controller but I never bothered with it frankly

u/Zagre · 1 pointr/ffxiv

I use the Razer Panthera with my Magic NS adapter and it's great!

It does NOT add input delay! I went into Shovel Knight co-op and press jumped same time on a Pro Controller and the fight stick and it was the exact same time. I will say they make the screen capture/ record button for playstation controllers is the touch pad button so be weary about that.

It sounds like you are suffering from atopic dermatitis. Try moderate exposure to sunlight. It isn’t completely clear why sun exposure helps atopic dermatitis, but most likely vit D plays a role. Your body makes vit D when exposed to sunlight. The vit D also influences the production of some proteins that your body uses to stave off infections.

And FWIW I have sweaty hands too. They won't stop you from sweating, but the KontrolFreek Grips help me have a better and more comfortable grip.
