Also case savers would be the first thing I'd do. They're cheaper than replacing the magnesium cases on the bike and can prevent you from a hole leaking all of the oil out of your engine

What does he currently own? I got a Fender rumble 40 that’s $200 Amazon.

Motorcycle CNC Handle Bar End Mirrors 3"Round 7/8" for Honda Yamaha Suzuki https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N0QLNWC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_mmdSBbKJ4XN9J

Word of advice. Tighten them in your hand until they barely fit into the handle bars. After that stick them in and tighten them up. Go to Lowe's and get some Lock Tight and put the smallest bit on them. They are hella nice for $20

i5 Bar End Mirrors - Amazon

This mirror uses the stock bar-end bolt. Quality is okay for $19.95. You can crack the aluminum housing if you over torque the allen bolt.

Tip: Use a set of locking pliers to turn the bar end at the same time as the phillips head screw. You can try using an impact tool (the manual kind you tap with a hammer) if you're still struggling at that point.

TST has a DIY video on removing those stubborn bar ends here.

I have a great solution!

I own an 06 fz6, so I have the same goofy windshield as you. first of all, I highly suggest buying the dark smoke puig racing windscreen. It greatly improves the ride quality, and the dark smoke lets you see through it if you end up tucking that hard, but still looks nice like a full black screen.

First, I bought these mirrors that youtuber The Inja suggested for his 07 fz6. The only problem is that the mirror mounts on that year are vertical, whereas 06 and before have the slanted mirror mounts you see in the pic. What this means is that even with the mirrors best adjusted, they still angle too far out to be even close to seeing behind you. And that sucks, because most mirrors you'll find aren't able to adjust enough!

So what I did to fix the issue was go over to JW Winco. They machine all sorts of mechanical odds and ends... So I ordered two part#'s 6NLZ0 and 6NXBGI. I then went down to the hardware store and bought some threaded studs. I believe it was an M4 size. It is important that they are a fully threaded stud, and not a stud with a spacer in the middle. In the threaded stud pic, the middle is the kind you want, not the outer ones. Along with the studs, I also bought some washers to put against the mirror/clevis contact points. You'll also need an M6 bolt/nut combo to tighten the clevis fork assembly together. I put a washer on either side of the clevis/bolt assembly.

I highly suggest you take a mirror into the hardware store and assemble what I've described before you purchase the parts, it'll save a lot of time.

The end result is fantastic! The mirrors are great. Very solid, and tinted blue to save your eyes at night, as well as help your brain separate the mirror from the world around you, so you don't get distracted by your mirrors. The mirror ball pivot is SOLID, and will not fold in on you at top speed. Vibration isn't bad either. They look pretty mean on the bike, and I think they fit well. If you want, I can take a picture or two of it later to help you see what it'll look like and how it all goes together. Hope this helps!

Hey y'all! Some of you asked about mods so here is a full list of what I have done so far with links.

Radiator guard - Has a nice little FZ-07 etched at the bottom.

Shorty levers - Mine are gray but they come in lots of colors.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0197N3KA2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Bar end mirrors - You can find these for less but I chose these because the reviews indicated that they might be better quality than others.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Q3UL6S6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Yoshimura fender eliminator - Kinda pricey for what it is but it looks really nice.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T6J9IM2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Motodynamic integrated tail light - I also looked at the TST but after looking at some videos decided on this one.

Akrapovic TI - This exhaust sounds sweet, I also purchased the CAT for it through cyclegear.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L44J56G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Other mods that i'm considering in the future
Stainless Steel braided brake lines, FTECU on the bike flash kit, T-Rex Racing no cut combo.

I'm in Illinois and although it doesn't get exceptionally hot, the weight of the bike and the heat of the asphalt would allow my bike to sink into our driveway. I got me one of these: Kickstand Support

u/SuperTuff · 3 pointsr/klr650

Dude these are what I got, and they are SWEET.
http://www.amazon.com/IMS-293116-4-Black-Foot-Pegs/dp/B007S12QDS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1464560603&sr=8-1&keywords=klr650+ims+pegs

I would call them a SUPERIOR product. I'm a complete cheap-skate too and I do not regret the purchase at all. They are sturdy as fuck.

u/just_one_more_click · 3 pointsr/dr650

Progrip 714, easily the best cheap upgrade you can get.

I've been running foot pegs similar to these for three years now.

I dislike the cheap LED lights for visibility. I mean....why bother having indicators at all if they're not visible? Each time I go looking for new indicators I'm like....meh the stock ones do their job just fine.

u/sp_40 · 3 pointsr/Dualsport
u/Damean1 · 2 pointsr/Harley

Just get her one of these

u/HeroDanny · 2 pointsr/Dualsport

Yup, Case savers are super cheap too, like $20. They are also super easy to install, I believe the ones I linked literally just stick on.

If you are on a stupid budget you can also trim and smooth the brake and shift levers so they're not so pointy where they hit the case. Might actually not be a bad idea to do this anyway, even with case savers.

This "mod" is 100% essential on the drz, OP, you WILL break your case, I've seen many DRZ's do it before and it will leave you stranded. Don't be stupid, address it now, it's the one and only essential mod for a drz.

The other stuff is just fun, like pumper carb, etc

u/fuegoador · 2 pointsr/ToyotaTacoma

Sweet, thanks! Those look a lot like the westins I've been looking at but I like the pointed ends of these.

u/harugane · 2 pointsr/FZ07

I have a Puig Windscreen, Yoshi Fender Eliminator Kit, and a Yoshimura R-77 Exhaust with an ECU flash to go with it. I also got woodcraft weighted bar ends to mount some cheap bar end mirrors: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Q3UL6S6/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/Reamofqtips · 2 pointsr/Triumph

I got these for cheap on my Speed Triple, just used the original hardware from the bar end caps. Going on 6k miles and they're holding up great.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00P1S0Q6O/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_1etKxb5N25S6K

u/MundaneCrysis · 2 pointsr/FZ07

It's this one from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00NS1IA78/ref=pd_aw_vtph_0_bs_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=HT7YKM3C1CAVVN5E7RJ7

It works well but the one they sent me, the two base plate screws didn't line up, so I was only able to screw it in with two of the four screws. So far it's holding great though!

Also, make sure you keep your left and right signals separate if you use the stock signals, otherwise you will end up putting them on the opposite side like me.

u/fuzzmedic · 2 pointsr/FZ07

I’ve got the vagabond tail tidy and I like it. I reused the factory turn signals and it was a simple install

u/JohnDoe045 · 2 pointsr/klr650

Does that rear stand lift the rear wheel? Which one do you have? I've been looking for one for me 06.

Edit:

u/GuppiAttack · 2 pointsr/motorcycles

Do you have any thoughts on something like this?

u/Kisoni91 · 1 pointr/hondagrom

This one

Dont know if this was strictly an issue with mine, but i had to buy new screws for it that were a bit longer. The screw that came with it is only long enough if you dont keep the rubber gaurd on the end of the bars, but if you dont have that you will have to force your throttle back and forth lol

u/AnnoyedDouche · 1 pointr/motorcycles

3,000 miles over 14 years? Wow.

I ordered this license plate bracket to fix the sideways license plate problem I had on my CBR600 (due to a previous owner performing a sawzall fender elimination.)

u/klausfu · 1 pointr/Triumph

OE bolt is M5x0.8x30. I assume something like this would work?

u/longhairedcountryboy · 1 pointr/Harley

You probably never want the cheapest of anything for your motorcycle. You get what you pay for.

They do make suction cup p pads. They have even got expensive.

u/KN1GGS6 · 1 pointr/ToyotaTacoma

I have the Westin HDX steps. I like the look and I’m not an extreme off roader or anything and they have held up well. Easy install with two people or one and a jack. I personally wouldn’t have any, but my wife couldn’t reach to put the car seat in the back seat very well.

Enhanced LPT: You can buy complete washer, bolt, and nut kits in metric and standard. They come in things that resemble tackle boxes. Ultra Valuable!! I have like 20 of these around the house. You just dip into them all the time.

Here's an example of one I purchased for one of my motorcycles:

https://www.amazon.com/Specbolt-Suzuki-Maintenance-Restoration-Fastener/dp/B006NOH5UA

That's metric and motorcycle specific but they make all manner of these. I highly recommend one be purchased for your house (if you are in the US that would be standard sizes with 1/2" as some kind of midpoint. Bolts, screws, lugs, washers, nuts.

u/bstieboydp · 1 pointr/fz6

This one is a steal for 19 dollars shipped and blocks wind better than stock ( I have had mine on for 4 years)

u/youngsplooge · 1 pointr/fz6

I went with this for the price, have had no issues since I bought it a year ago:

Areyourshop Windshield WindScreen Double Bubble For Yamaha FZ6 FAZER 2003-2008 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01D5XXZM8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_cCaDDbMWDVA1Q

u/MasterBeta0 · 1 pointr/Dualsport

I've never used the factory mirrors on my bike; the dealer hadn't even installed them yet when I bought it. I knew I had no desire to use them anyway. I bought a pair of these and instead of using the bar end mounts I put them just inside of my controls and on the bottom. There perfect for a quick glance behind me, but my riding style doesn't prioritize highway use, so they may not be suitable for everybody. I can see fine behind me and they don't vibrate at all, they don't offer much side coverage but I'd rather turn my head anyway. I should note one of the threads for the screws stripped out immediately as I was installing them but they're only $10 and I expect them to get broken eventually anyway. Even with only one screw holding it it actually doesn't vibrate though.

u/captain_carrot · 1 pointr/CalamariRaceTeam

These ones, not the other link that boatsss posted. They're like 3 dollars more but look at the fronts, the glass is actually glued into place instead of held in by tabs. Unglued glass is going to vibrate like crazy while you're riding.

u/tiregroove · 1 pointr/bicycling

Major secret here: Universal motorcycle mirror (and brake) mounts fit on bike handlebars. And are way cheaper and more stable. Been using them for years, and I ride lots of heavy city (NYC) traffic.

The mirrors: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000WPHTAM/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The mount: http://www.amazon.com/Emgo-Universal-Aluminum-Mirror-20-28120/dp/B003CKFKI2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372927422&sr=8-1&keywords=emgo+mirror+bracket

If you deviate, don't get Yamaha, the threads are reversed.

Do what you think will make you want to play more-- within reason of course. A 4x10 cab would probably be a little overkill in your situation. Fender rumbles are great amps for the money. I had the older 75w version and then upgraded to a 150w version, but a 40w might be good enough for your needs
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HWINMR6/ref=twister_B01CQKCVDU?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

As for headphones-- I like the Sony MDR 7506. They dont look all that special, but theyre industry standard and have a great flat response.

u/Karcinagin · 1 pointr/Harley

Not sure what you are looking for but I have these with my clip ons bars. They are made in China but they are not the cheap Chinese junk you usually get. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B006VQZWE6/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_u5QTtb0FGX3NN

u/schniederzero · 1 pointr/CalamariRaceTeam

I got mine on Amazon and it takes under an hour. 30 minutes if you know what you're doing. Pm me for Amazon link and info if needed

Edit: I've replaced mine twice. Its under 40$
