Handmade in small batches and hand finished in Mary Lou’s Country Kitchen in the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina, this fruitcake is a generations-old family recipe containing only the finest and freshest ingredients. This traditional, Southern fruitcake contains 90% fruits and pecans with just enough egg batter to hold it all together. After slowly baking at a very low temperature to allow the heat to penetrate the heavy mixture, the cake is cooled and just enough Port wine is added to gently moisten the cake. Fruitcake contains no citron, raisins, citrus peel or heavy, overwhelming spices, like you find in most fruitcakes. Ingredients are: Plump Georgia pecan halves, whole candied cherries, diced candied pineapple, dates, eggs, flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, with port wine added after baking. The old-fashioned goodness of the finest ingredients makes each cake a moist and delicious delight. i will be happy to ship cake as a gift with message included.
