Auxiliary Gas Fuel Tank
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004NV42PQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_gD3QDbCDVGF4Q

Edit,

For many years my test tank at home for carb work was just a 1qt gear oil bottle upside down, with a coat hanger punched through the sides to make a hanging loop, a hole cut in the bottom of the bottle(now the top) to fill and a clear fuel line pushed onto the gear oil spout.

I got these and assembly is super strong, it's not moving anywhere. and it's only 16$

I had to replace CRG ARROW because my idiot boss broke them on purpose. Ripped it off with his hand.

i've got a throttle lock that helps a lot:

http://www.amazon.com/2Wheel-Ride-GC-1-Motorcycle-Throttle/dp/B0055QOKC8/

and a cramp buster can help as well:

http://www.amazon.com/automotive/dp/B000GZPH2U

both are super cheap and really help on long rides.

u/andrew_yangg · 5 pointsr/supermoto

Standard 7/8 Bar end Mirrors , you just take out the silver inner part and clamp it to your handle bar

u/CG_Ops · 5 pointsr/motorcycles

What kind of bike?

Also, since this is likely temporary, you might be better off with a motorcycle wrist support or a crampbuster

Take it from me, if you're a seasoned rider, changing up the controls scheme can potentially be very dangerous if you don't practice adjusting to it a LOT.

u/WherePoetryGoesToDie · 4 pointsr/motorcycles

You can buy similar devices online, although most shadetree mechanics I know usually just hack something together. I used to use an abomination I bodged from a mic stand, a water bottle, and an old petcock--and my friends considered that unnecessarily elaborate.

u/faceroll · 4 pointsr/motorcycles

If you're going to be on the slab for extended periods these little things help out a bit.

Tire plug kit.

Rain protection for your luggage...should be pretty standard but I've spaced on that one before >.>.

This is what I used. Then just drilled a hole in the top corners of a license plate frame and ran the wire through. I will get a picture of them when it is light outside.

Here is a picture I made when I first did them, the white ones you see here wasnt very bright but these black ones seem to be better. They also look better with the black frame. http://imgur.com/3E44Dtn

These:

They are OK. They have no cutoff. I may see if i can find better ones next time. I needed an anti-flicker harness as well.

u/metarchaeon · 3 pointsr/HomeImprovement

Modern anti evaporating gas cans spouts area pain. If you add an air vent you can empty the jugs in about 1/3 the time, and I guarantee this will be the cheapest solution.

u/SwingingGnardsOfDoom · 3 pointsr/ar15

You shouldn't have to get a A2 sight. If its a rifle length gas tube then all you need is a [hand guard cap] (https://www.amazon.com/Handguard-Mil-Spec-Standard-Retainer-Replacement/dp/B00MNS35EU) placed IFO the gas block.

u/2ofSorts · 3 pointsr/motorcycles

Currently a pair of super cheap convex bar end mirrors.

I picked up the cheap ones to see if I would like the location of the mirrors, I liked it and kept it.
For being 15$ they've lasted quite a while and work great. Almost a year now with zero issue.

u/coffeman500 · 3 pointsr/motorcycles

Looks sharp! Did you use the same process for the plastics as you did for the tank?

Also, looks like you're going for a really clean look, you should consider integrated brake light turn signals and flush mount turn signals

u/frogstomp19 · 3 pointsr/motorcycles

sorry for responding late - had to wait until I got home to take a pic. Bonus video though: here. I have my stupidly-bright LED headlight (this one) on and you can still see the turn signal pretty obviously I think. Here's a pic showing the hose clamp attachment part more clearly (IMO it's not very visible unless you're looking for it).

Eventually I'd like to upgrade it to something like this but obviously I don't have anywhere to put an arduino...

u/son-of-fire · 3 pointsr/motorcycles

Crampbusters are nice, or you could spend closer to the top of your $100 range get him a pair of motorcycle boots Casual Motorcycle shoes or something.

EDIT: Thought of more stuff. Gloves, Mount for GPS or Phone, motorcycle/atv jack, Socket set, torque wrench... That's about all I can think of at the moment.

u/Gnascher · 3 pointsr/bicycling

Get a pair of bar-ends. They even have ones that "convert" a flat bar to drops. But even traditional bar-ends will provide you with some additional variety of hand positions which will help alleviate hand/arm discomfort on longer rides. This is an inexpensive solution that may effectively alleviate your comfort problems.

As for any further upgrades, I would not bother with this bike. Keep it well maintained, and sell it and buy another used bike that may be better suited to the kind of riding you want to get into.

It's never worth it to upgrade a lower-tier bike such as yours (and actually most hybrids). It's barely worth it to upgrade even mid-tier bikes, but not all decisions are economical when you're comfortable on a particular bike or have an emotional attachment to it - upgrades in the "few hundred dollars" category might be worth it, and wheel upgrades are definitely worth it, as you can bring a good wheel to your next bike. Upper tier bikes rarely need upgrades, except maybe a wheelset.

Hey y'all! Some of you asked about mods so here is a full list of what I have done so far with links.

Radiator guard - Has a nice little FZ-07 etched at the bottom.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0197N3KA2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Bar end mirrors - You can find these for less but I chose these because the reviews indicated that they might be better quality than others.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Q3UL6S6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Motodynamic integrated tail light - I also looked at the TST but after looking at some videos decided on this one.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015NN3YUG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Proton 500 flush mount LED - These things are brighter than the sun. You can also change the signal pattern which I thought was cool.

Stompgrip volcano black - I really like these and they have great grip. You can also get them in clear from their website if that's your thing.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018NH74BE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Akrapovic TI - This exhaust sounds sweet, I also purchased the CAT for it through cyclegear.

u/electric_water · 3 pointsr/FZ09

Thanks! I just put these mirrors on the factory bar end weights. There’s no need for all the adapter crap it comes with.

u/MikeOnBike · 2 pointsr/raspberry_pi

I recommend moving to 12v components and then regulating the power back down to 5v for the Pi. There will be many more options and prices will be better.

Start with a solar panel:
http://www.amazon.com/HQRP-Mono-crystalline-Anodized-Aluminum-Radiation/dp/B002HSUT40

Use a charge controller to attach it to your battery(s):
http://www.amazon.com/Sunforce-7-Amp-Charge-Controller/dp/B0006JO0XI

Attach a voltage regulator to the battery and your Pi:
http://www.amazon.com/Ship-Hobbywing-Switch-mode-UBEC-Lowest/dp/B008ZNWOYY/

As far as batteries go, buying local will save you some shipping. If this is an outside battery you can use a deep cycle/RV battery. If inside then you need something sealed. You should have several days of reserve for bad weather. Maybe something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/26-SEALED-VOLT-DEEP-RECHARGEABLE/dp/B007GCDDOA

u/Rausage505 · 2 pointsr/Triumph

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071S21FV8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

These are the knock-off's of the Triumph mirrors, and they've been installed in my bike for about 4 months now, so far so good. I like that they DON'T say Triumph across the tops of em, my bike already has enough of that going on.

FYI - I bought an even cheaper set of knock-off's, but they were total crap. The fake lane-splitters I had installed previously got put on my Ducati M696 project.

u/wesbot2k5 · 2 pointsr/bicycling

If you did want to do this, you've got a few options, but none of them are good or cheap.

You could get your shifters to the tops of bullhorns by buying some thumb shifter mounts. These run $65, but you might be able to find some used. You can mount downtube shifters on those, which I bet you can find in a used bin.

For brakes, you'll need to switch to mechanical brakes. You might find hydro levers made for bullhorns, but they're usually sold as a set with brakes, and they won't be easy to find used. The current levers aren't the right diameter for bullhorns, so they'll need to go. You could probably find some cheap road disc brakes, and some TT levers for $50- $100.

So, all said and done, you'll be in between $200 and $300 if you go all used, and that's with the absolute cheapest parts you can find, all for a bar setup that will probably stretch you out more than you want (if your bike fits you properly), and with a downgrade from hydro to mechanical brakes.

What about just buying some barends for $15 to see if you like the position?

u/teamslow · 2 pointsr/supermoto

these are also in my amazon cart if the turnies in this guy cant be made visible somehow...

edit: fuck it i bought em.

plus, I got to buy another doodad for the shop!

u/badesigns · 2 pointsr/vandwellers

is this a good second battery I plan on getting two with a 3000 watt inverter http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007GCDDOA/ref=ox_sc_act_title_6?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A33OOXQLQV58WQ

u/TurnbullFL · 2 pointsr/electricians

The spec sheet says it draws 60 watts.

60 watts times 4 hours is 240 watt hours.

Using a small inverter and 12V lead acid battery, it would take a 20AH battery, 25 taking conversion inefficiency into consideration.

So it will take THIS 19 pound battery to power 4 hours.

u/K2TheM · 2 pointsr/motorcycles

Pretty sure they are these.

It should be noted that the visibility is very directional with these compared to a traditional signal. So wrapping them around a fork tube has the advantage of presenting multiple viewing angles.

u/ratbiker18 · 2 pointsr/SVRiders

I got the oblong ones off amazon but they move in the wind so I had to put hot glue on the back to make them stay. Looks pretty good to me. I can't stand those doofus looking circular ones.

Disclaimer: these will adjust themselves at high speeds. I have them.

u/bl0odredsandman · 2 pointsr/Firearms

Are you talking about the Handguard cap? I don't know if this one is any different than what's on the 22 version of the M&P. I've read that many people will take them off their 22s anyways. It gives it a nice free float look.

u/RTHM · 2 pointsr/ar15

Sure thing. First of all, this only applies if you chose the MOE SL and not the standard MOE handguard. Also, my understanding is that the issue only relates to most mid-length but not carbine uppers. So if you bought a mid-length MOE SL handguard then this may apply to you.

Basically it boils down to the fact that, due the slimness of the handguard, it will only fit into a round handguard cap. There is absolutely no way to make it work with a triangular cap. Unfortunately, roughly 80% of the mid-length uppers out there come with a triangular cap installed. This includes PSA's uppers. This means that you will likely have to swap out the hand guard cap in order to fit this particular guard to your barrel.

Although this can be done for really cheap (Round Handguard Cap Mil-Spec A R Standard Retainer OE Replacement - $6.33) it will require that you take most of your barrel apart. This requires some specialized tools. I recommend the following:

Here.. i had to modify the spacers came with. The 7/8’s were too small and i dont like how they wiggled or moving even they are fully tighten. So what i did is dremel the 1” spacer and removing few mm just to fit inside the handlebar then tighten them. Rocksolid and these mirror holds man.. im satisfied.

It sounds pretty good. Much more aggressive than stock. Sounds like a 250cc dirtbike. But still quiet on idle.

I'd recommend playing with different combinations of the baffle insert to get your preferred sound.

I have the generic round bar-end on my bike. The ones you can get on Amazon for like 15$: https://www.amazon.com/Motorcycle-Handle-Rearview-Mirrors-Harley/dp/B01N6GB7DZ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1486662753&sr=8-2-spons&keywords=bar+end+mirrors&psc=1

Rode 1 year. No complaints so far. You have to set them up then tighten them to get them to stay more or less. Vision is good (convex so you see more, might take time to get used to it). Might not be best but cheap and they work.

I also tried these: https://www.amazon.com/Astra-Depot-Adjustable-Motorcycle-Kawasaki/dp/B0083SL82A/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1486662753&sr=8-5&keywords=bar+end+mirrors

Those I would not recommend. You can't see anything with them.

For blinkers I do not know. I know the cheapo ebay or amazon blinkers are very dim. I got some fake rizoma blinkers from aliexpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Motorcycle-Aluminum-LED-Turn-Signal-Light-Indicator-Blinker-Light-Universal-for-rizoma/32772637080.html?spm=2114.01010208.3.11.nzBa4V&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_3_10065_10068_10000074_10000032_119_10000025_10000029_430_10000028_10060_10000067_10062_10056_10055_10000062_10054_10059_10099_10000022_10000013_10103_10102_10000016_10096_10000018_10000019_10000056_10000059_10052_10053_10107_10050_10106_10051_10000053_10000007_10000050_10084_10083_10000047_10080_10082_10081_10110_10111_10112_10113_10114_10115_10000041_10000044_10078_10079_10000038_10073_10000035_10121,searchweb201603_1,afswitch_1,single_sort_3_price_asc&btsid=eb75928c-20ac-4098-8ab1-d7ec76a16e46

You want to support your body as much as you can with your legs and core, not your arms. There's a saying in MTB "heavy feet, light hands", in which you should basically be able to ride the bike with nothing more than your fingertips on the bars.

As for extended bars, there are a few options. Ergon makes grips that are really nice and come in a variety of sizes as far as the extensions.

You can also get drops/extensions that clamp onto the ends of the bars.

u/rprobotics · 1 pointr/SolarDIY

I'm going to have to weigh my options on that one. It would be nice to make my own connections since this is a DIY project, but want to keep it cheap as well.

>How are you charging the 'house' battery?

I'll have to look into that. I'm not sure if the alternator charges that battery or not, but it can be charged from the generator. I won't be using either of those options if possible, my plan is to recharge it using the 100 watt portable panel since it'll mainly be used for the water pump, wifi amplifier, and lp/smoke alarms.

>Also, hooking up the solar to your house battery system is pretty easy, especially if it's 12 volts nominal. Depending on specifics there are better and worse ways to do it, but in theory it's very simple. :)

The solar battery bank will be in the storage next to the under the stairs battery, so it won't be too far. Another reason I didn't want to do this is the RV only has 1 12v outlet in the front, so everything i use will be going off the inverter anyway, and I have the 100 watt portable panel to charge the house battery for those small electrical needs mentioned above

Cheap ones from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071S21FV8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They're... OK. Not convex lenses, and they have a weird blue tint that's supposed to cut down glare. They clamp directly onto the factory bar end weights though, which is nice. I actually just replaced them with some different ones that are convex and can be folded.

One thing that isn't explicitly mentioned here is the difference between reflected and projected headlights. Halogen lights are reflected and LED's are projected. I'll let you do your own research on this matter because there are a bunch of articles that will communicate the difference between them better than I can. While you can put a LED H4 bulb in a relective housing, you definitely should NOT do this. The beam pattern will be all wrong and blind everyone. This is not ok. You should only use a projected bulb with a projection housing, so if you want to go LED you should pony up for a full on kit. This is all under the assumption that your bike now has a reflective housing.

Also, your stator might be able to keep up with the power output with the heated grips attached. I recently purchased the bikemaster heated grips and threw them on my bench power supply. At full output they only used 30W of power and these bad larrys put out plenty of heat. I've only ever needed them at half power riding in ~40F temps. Good luck.

It's a simple power and ground. So all you do is cut the wire splice in the new wire onto the end. If you do this 4 total times you get to install any LED turn signal you like.

I have these on my street.http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003LTEC0G/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1457833730&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=arrow+led+turn+signal&dpPl=1&dpID=41xFmcD-RLL&ref=plSrch

Here we go. I like them, bright but not blinding towards on coming traffic.

Be CAREFUL with Vruzend. Fuse every cell. I destroyed half my garage because I thought my tiny 36 cell packs (4s6p) was safe only being charged to 14v since it should have been safe up to 16.8v. Only takes one bad cell to screw up your life. I've decided it is no longer worth the effort to harvest 18650 batteries. The Renogy 100ah 12v ( https://amzn.to/2NO883u ) for $214 is rated for 1100 cycles at 50% depth of discharge. There's the LifePo4 version for $800 which is rated at 7000 cycles but I ain't made of that kind of money.

u/DrTom · 1 pointr/vandwellers

This is the most popular solar set-up. Then a battery like this. You may need an inverter, too, but that depends on your needs.

Water depends entirely on you. You can get five gallon jugs that re-fill at Home Depot for $7, for example. A lot of people get water for free at gas stations or parks.

It seems like you're just getting started thinking about this. I recommend the FAQ. There's lot of good stuff in there!

What if I put some handlebar ends ? But I saw someone on the internet who converted his bad boy to road bike but I think that's going to cost you a little money.

For generic signals you will need an adapter plate (for the front). They are like $5.

e.g.: http://www.amazon.com/Adapters-Signals-Suzuki-SV1000-Bandit/dp/B001MZVWKY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1393862757&sr=8-2&keywords=sv650+turn+signal+adapter

You may want to find some wire adapters, so you don't have to do any cutting or w/e. I cut mine but afterwards realized that was annoying because I prefer not to modify a vehicle's stock harness if possible.

http://www.amazon.com/Adapters-Signal-Suzuki-TL1000S-TL1000R/dp/B003UNAZX6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1393862757&sr=8-1&keywords=sv650+turn+signal+adapter

Next: If you are using LED signals, you will need a flash fixer because otherwise they'll flash really fast. Most states it is 1 flash per second by law, see:

http://www.amazon.com/Signal-Flasher-2000-2010-TL1000R-Hayabusa/dp/B003UN4FXW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1393862864&sr=8-1&keywords=sv650+turn+signal+flasher

Lastly, your lights:

I use sunpie , ive had it a few months and it works really well. Guys over on the harley sub love it. Also it was less than $60

u/AnnoyedDouche · 1 pointr/motorcycles

I have an auxiliary fuel tank like this.

Carbed motorcycle gas tanks often have 3 or 4 lines running to/from them depending on whether the petcock is vacuum-operated or not. There's the fuel feed, the vent, the overflow, and on a vacuum-operated petcock, the vacuum line from the carb(s).

To hook up an auxiliary fuel source, you'd plug the vacuum line (if present), hook up the fuel feed into the carbs to the aux tank, and just pretty much ignore the others.

u/funnythebunny · 1 pointr/Miata

Amazon has them in black (pair) and chrome as a single unit (you will need to buy a pair of them). I have the chrome one on my Harley and it works amazing.

This is where I got them from. Aliexpress wasn't my first choice but I took a chance and it worked! Also here are the levers, mirrors, and grips I installed too. These are fit for the Z900 only, so they probably won't fit a different bike, but I am sure they make something for it.

u/pyromaster114 · 1 pointr/OffGrid

No problem, I wish you luck with your project!

Depth of discharge is definitely important for battery longevity. The more 'shallow' your discharge cycles are with any sort of Lead Acid chemistry, the longer the battery will usually live. :)

Also, if you're going to go over ~300-400 Ah of battery storage (rated) consider making the change to a 24 volt system before you start ordering components. The reason for this is to ensure you don't end up using cables the size of your arms to carry the current you need. When you double the nominal battery bank voltage, you half the current being carried by your conductors in that circuit, thus reducing the needed wire size. It doesn't sound like you'll need to go with a 24 volt system though, as you won't really need that much storage, or that much solar.

Remember:

Voltage x Amps = Power in Watts

Power in Watts x Hours = Energy in Watt-hours

>What do you think of the Optima BlueTop? They are more money than most AGMs, but they claim superior number of recharges. I can get the 66Ah at Costco for $299CAD. But I'd probably need at least 3 of these.

Try something like this instead:

https://www.trojanbattery.com/solar-agm-2/

Avoid 'marine/starter' batteries like they tend to sell at Costco and auto parts stores. (Optima BlueTop included.) They're designed to be a hybrid of a 'starter battery' (for a motor) and a 'deep cycle' battery for running electrical equipment. They will not live as long as something that is designed purely for deep cycling like the Trojan Solar AGM's, or even these Renogy ones: https://www.amazon.com/Renogy-Battery-Marine-Off-grid-Applications/dp/B075RFXHYK/

EDIT:

Renogy also makes a gel-cel equivalent of that one, here:

https://www.amazon.com/Renogy-100Ah-Rechargeable-Cycle-Battery/dp/B01KN6QUW2/

EDIT 2:

By the way, there are some differences between Gel-cel lead acid and AGM lead acid batteries, but they are both non-spillable (Sealed) battery types, that come in 'true deep cycle' varieties. :)

Easy way to tell if it's a 'hybrid' battery type (designed for use where it will start an engine at times), is to check if it has those 'automotive style' post terminals. The ones that you find on your car battery. 'Marine' batteries that have both automotive and screw termainls, like those BlueTops, are not quite ideal for use in a solar application.

Not sure if you've got the wide version of the CrampBuster but this in combination with a good quality pair of gloves has really helped. I've got tennis elbow and a good bit of carpal tunnel pain but after a year of daily riding and more regimented workouts I've noticed the pains have diminished. http://www.amazon.com/Crampbuster-CB2-CrampBuster-Wide/dp/B000GZPH2U

You're spot on about relaxing while riding as that's the source of most pressure and pain points for extended rides. Sadly there's just no overcoming the death-grip when in slipperier conditions.

These are the MZS Bar-End Mirrors. My first set of bar-ends, bought them as a proof of concept to see if I liked them instead of dropping the big bucks on CRGs, and have had them for over a year now. They are mounted on the RhinoMoto modified bar-ends, sturdier and reduce vibrations in comparison to the ones that expand within the handlebar.

yeah that what i was going to reccommend. So if my math is correct (probably not). to run that stereo for 3 hours you would need a 9 amp batter at 12 volts. So to not destroy the battery lets round that up to 27-45 would be better. Then you would only need a small inverter and charger.
