The 40 year keychain calendars are on Amazon at $3.68 each.

Or upgrade to the 50 year calendar paper weight for $11

Or the deluxe one for $32

I got mine for ~$15. Link because apparently OP died in a plane crash. It's $10 including shipping at the moment.

Found it on Amazon. FYI, any Amazon Smile purchases for the next few days (until Nov 2?) provide 5% to charity instead of normal 0.5%

This is just unforgivable. I live in Kentucky, and I've been explaining it to my daughter from age 4. She watches tons of animal documentaries and has this hanging in her bedroom.

Oh,you got the 80-pager. There is a lot of good stuff in that one, too. I consoled myself the other night after your PM by trying to convince myself that I should save the $20.

I was referring to the absolutely mammoth codex that is this.

Best Enfield-related purchase I've made since I started buying Enfields. Well, behind about half of the Enfields, I'd say.

u/l0c0dantes · 3 pointsr/pbsideachannel

Ok, speaking as a someone who works in manufacturing, I don't think this will really break things all told.

Lets look at what traditional paper printers did to copyright. Say you want some art to put on your wall. Lets Say The Mona Lisa Now you can go to amazon and pick one up for 5$ (Boy, did I pick the wrong painting for this example, oh well.)

Or you could just take that image, throw it up in MS paint, and do the job yourself for a few pennies worth of paper and ink. Or take it to Kinko's and have them do it for a couple bucks if you want the full size.

This is my same view on 3d printing. Yes, you could buy a desktop model, and print whatever your heart desires, to the skill you might have (Calibration and printing issues are a thing. My local makerspace had no end of trouble with their makerbot) that the work envelope would allow. Now, yes places like shapeways would have to worry about the leaglease of it, but I have never heard of a print shop turn away something because you couldn't prove you had ownership of the image.

Oh, and his example about airplane replacement parts? Yea, that entire scenario is completely against the current FAA Regulations. The sourcing requirements for Aerospace parts are ridiculous.

Anyways, my view is as such. Currently in manufacturing, if you need something made in your city, there are a multiude of shops where you can get it done. As long as you have a print, people will probably make it for you (Assuming it is not a stolen print from a regular client. You would probally get blown in for that) With 3d printing, You have the models on Thingiverse (Unless you roll your own) and a place like shapeways that makes them. As it stands, there are currently 2 points of failures for the major supply chain here. Now, imagine a thingiverse competitor with the ethos of the pirate bay? If you can get the models anywhere, all you need to do is find a place to print them for you. And hey look, here is a site that will point you in the correct direction

tl;dr Yes, copyright might be a thing for the big national printing houses. I don't think it will actually do anything to stop smaller one off pieces. If you are going to do grey market stuff, don't advertise it or get to big.

u/[deleted] · 3 pointsr/atheism

you can get it on Amazon for ten bucks. I just put it on my wish list!

Since you seem pretty crafty, I was wondering if you could take an XXL poster and cut it into a triptych yourself. These posters are the ones I could find in dimensions that seem like they would work for that:

u/RotaryJihad · 3 pointsr/ForgottenWeapons

I have a No 1 Mk V in the back of the safe. Yours does indeed seem like a bubba or some sort of repair.

If you're looking for parts as of 2010 http://www.efdrifles.com/ had some parts, notably furniture. The owner was quite kind in answering my inquiries. At the time I didn't have the budget to restore the rifle. Now I don't have the inclination.

http://bdlltd.com/ is a regular exhibitor at Knob Creek. He had some parts, again the last real contact was 6-7 years ago.

The book by Ian Skennerton, https://www.amazon.com/Book-Lee-Enfield-Ian-Skennerton-Signed/dp/B006559906, seems to be the most oft cited reference on the rifle.

I've had a heck of a time figuring out value. Selling the rifle outright was tricky. Casual collectors priced it like a Mk III or misidentified it as a No 5. Knowledgable collectors, all very kind to talk shop and share info, noted the missing parts and the difficulty in valuing the somewhat uncommon Mk V.

I've got pics around here somewhere. I'll scrounge those up and see if they help both of us figure out what parts each of us might lack.

I'd be eager to hear any commentary or see any data on value. I know that might be a little gauche to ask about but it's hard to figure out what fair prices on these rifles would be. That valuation directly determines if a restoration is worthwhile.

u/Elle-Elle · 3 pointsr/BSG

The Battlestar Board Game is a lot of fun and highly rated too. It's in the $40 range.

I also love these retro propaganda posters. I think those were a little cheaper at $31ish.

They also recently came out with some Funko Pop figures for both the old and new BSG and usually run under $10.

I hope that helps!

Sucralose is good, 3 drops is equivalent to 1 tsp of sugar and you can get a small bottle on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sucralose-Liquid-Sweetener-English-Swedish/dp/B005MISDCM

It's also worth mentioning that Xylitol is highly toxic to dogs even in tiny amounts. Not sure if you can buy it separately but it's used in a lot of sugar free sweets.

"I am Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, of the blood of Old Valyeria. I am the dragon's daughter, and I swear to you that those who would harm you will die screaming"I just had to choose Daenerys from Game of Thrones. My friend actually recommended the books it was based off. This is my favorite character because of all challenges and ruthless environment she had dealt with, she still has compassion to the lowest of people. Boom! Roasted this or this

The reason why I hate the new trilogy isn't even because of that fucking abomination Jar Jar Binks, or because they got Samuel L. Jackson (who doesn't do shit in the prequels) to appeal to African-Americans (sorry if this sounds racist), but because if the MOTHERFUCKING SPACE EMBARGO IN EPISODE ONE THAT CAUSED ALL THIS STUPID SHIT, and that they sent two Jedi's to deal with this. Then better yet the fucking republic doesn't do shit after sending JEDI, to access the damn situation and they tell them that Naboo invaded.

It makes absolutely no fucking sense.

Gosh damn space supplies.

Some paintings/art have historical and cultural significance. It may be that the painting was by one of the most famous/well-respective artists from a country or region, it may be that the painting is a historical artefact from an era of cultural importance.

These sorts of things add to the price of a painting as it is 'valued' more highly by people and there may be competing private collectors/public collectors (e.g. art galleries/museums) all willing to pay more.

Take the Mona Lisa. It's just a portrait, it's a portrait that probably 90% of people have seen already yet if you go to the Louvre in Paris it is almost never quiet in the room - there are people queuing to go look at it in person...sample photo. Why? What difference is it vs. a poster-print of it like this which you can get for under $5 with shipping? To the Louvre having it in their museum brings customers in the door - they would happily pay millions for it because without it they might lose 100s of thousands of customers a year to a rival museum.

Ok then, military surplus rifles. That's a solid place to start. Here's a rundown:

I actually don't have a K31 book, but this one is written by Joe Poyer who is an author I trust. K31s are pretty straightforward for the most part, it's the earlier rifles that are a tad complicated to study.

There's so many damn Mausers that it's hard to recommend a book that covers enough of them. This one should be enough to get you started. This one just came back in print and is for the Swedish Mauser.

For Mosins, This one should provide enough knowledge, but there's actually a surprising amount of material online. Not many printed books on Mosins in English, sadly.

For Enfields, Ian Skennerton's book is the go-to.

And that should be enough to get you started. For any other guns, just type the gun name followed by "book" into Google and you should find what you need. And as always, the internet has plenty of it's own resources too.

>Oh, I'm sorry, since when?

Since the beginning.

Again, look at the graph. Pre-1970's, the line for worker compensation went up along with the line for productivity. Higher productivity? Higher pay!!

It's only AFTER that point that the lines diverge- productivity kept going up, while compensation levelled out.

>This thought experiment is two employees with different levels of production (you might call that level of production their productivity).

Even if this were the case we were discussing, you left out a vital piece of information: the machine. 'B' is ONLY more productive because of the machine. The machine that someone else invented, the machine that someone else built, the machine the company paid for.

We are not comparing (productivity of A) to (productivity of B). We are comparing (productivity of A) to (productivity of B with the machine). To see if the compensation is fair between them, we need to remove the productivity boost the machine provides.

>So you're telling me that you, the consumer of their labors, will pay more money for fewer widgets? Even though you could pay less money for more widgets?

Quantity is not always better.

Mona Lisa: $830 million dollars ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most_expensive_paintings#Background )

Mona Lisa poster: $9.94 ( https://www.amazon.com/Pyramid-America-Leonardo-DaVinci-Mona-36-Inch/dp/B000NVYYOY )

>B's button pushing is ten times as valuable as A's hand-crafting.

Any idiot can push a button. Hell, you can train a monkey to do it. You are saying that a trained monkey is more valuable than a master craftsman.

>One minute of B's production time is equivalent to ten minutes of production time for A.

NO. Again, you are forgetting the machine.

One minute of B's time PLUS THE MACHINE is equivalent to ten minutes of production time for A. It is NOT B who is responsible for the higher production- it is the machine. Why should B get paid more, when it is the machine that is responsible for the higher production?

It was the fourth grade, I was young and highly susceptible to peer pressure at the time. So during after school extended day I got dared to eat worms once. Okay, no problem, so we go and find some worms (Which had been oddly prevalent lately so it was easy to get some). I steeled myself as I held some in my hand, bracing my stomach for what was to come. Holding one in the air above my mouth I lowered it in. My goal was to slip it directly through my throat so I wouldn't have to taste it, but the fact that it actively did not want to be eaten didn't lend itself to my plan very well. The worm moved as I dropped it in, landing directly on my tongue. Suddenly my mouth was filled with an unpleasant earthy taste, but the worst part was the combination of it's texture and its continuous wriggling. It was awful, there is something so wrong about food trying to escape once you've already eaten it. With much effort I got the first worm down, swallowing it down never to be seen from again, or so I hoped. But as it goes, we don't always get what we want. As I was about to eat the second worm my body rejected the entire plan and ejected the foreign creatures. Bending over, I hurled bright orange puke with a little still wriggling worm. The puke was bright orange because, (and this is part of why I remember the story so well) I had eaten and entire package of goldfish earlier that afternoon, so it looked as is someone had pureed goldfish and threw it all over the sidewalk.
Ugh, Gag me with a spoon.

TL;DR: Worms are gross. Thanks for the contest!

I may be freaking out...

My favorite character is Mal (and yes, my username is dedicated to him). His loyalty is astounding. His crew is his family and I think it's extremely admirable. He keeps his head in times of hardship and usually pulls through with even a laugh or two. I love that he surrounds himself with people he'd like to be more like; or at least people with qualities he feels he's lost. He admires Kaylee for her innocence, Book for his faith, Simon's love for his sister and dedication to learning, etc. He knows he's had to bury this qualities in himself, so he keeps them close in other people so he doesn't forget them.
