EDIT: Thought I'd include links for some things being asked for on here. I didn't purchase everything new nor recently so there are some things I wasn't able to ID.

It's stupidly expensive, but I got something like this as a gift a while back and I love it:

http://www.amazon.com/Ergotron-45-245-026-Side-By-Side/dp/B0036FQ23A/ref=pd_sim_pc_8?ie=UTF8&refRID=0VNB6YD8NQVYER90979T

Clears up the space under your monitor for other things, lets you push your monitors out of the way and have a full sized desk for non computing things etc. It's fantastic.

u/wraithtek · 14 pointsr/buildapc

> I recently found out it's apparently bad to have the PC on the floor because it collects a lot of dust down there from the air intake or something.

Don't put it right on the carpet. If it's very low pile and dense, it's not so bad. Or if your floor is wood/laminate/tile/linoleum, sure. And a case with higher feet helps. But average carpet is not great.

You can put it on a piece of particle board or a heavy duty monitor stand, to keep it off the carpet.

u/aguywholikesclothes · 13 pointsr/ultrawidemasterrace

I built this using quad LG 29UM68-P monitors (which I found on sale for $250 each) and this monitor stand. It barely fits, but there is enough room where you can move them all very easily.

The new gas powered version from Vivo is really good too!

New batches of their coolers come with the AM4 kits now. These will almost certainly have them included since they have been OOS for awhile (meaning the ones you are buying here are almost certainly from the new batches with the AM4 kits included). And you can definitely buy the AM4 kits in the US separately, they are on Amazon for $5.

I use it for my 4k screen and it can swivel way around from my desk to my bed, under questions it stats it goes upto 21" out so maybe that isn't long enough.

The Desk/Workspace:

u/baddox · 4 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

It's this Ergotron. It's expensive, but it should last a lifetime and in my opinion is an absolute requirement for any dual monitor setup.

u/bgunn925 · 4 pointsr/buildapcsales

This one supports up to 14.3 lbs per arm and is $10 cheaper

$40 Amazon Stand,I haven't had any issues in the past 6 months I've had them. I used the Bolt-Through option with mounting and cannot be more satisfied.

u/rick1310 · 4 pointsr/battlestations

Yes, both monitors are on one mount. For how much the mount is, it has held up surprisingly well. Here is the link to the mount I'm using.

u/brentylol · 3 pointsr/buildapc

I have that monitor stand, I believe I got it at Staples about 5 years ago. I found it on Amazon for you tho!

u/DevIceMan · 3 pointsr/cscareerquestions

It helps to have one of those monitor mounts, which lets you rotate, move, and adjust the display position/angle at will. This is theo ne I have, mostly so I can have my monitors as eye-level.

Thanks man! I re-arrange these shelves constantly to get the cool right. The shelves are closetmaid 13504 I think (search on ebay/amazon) and the risers I bought on amazon here:

I've been looking for something like this for a long time: http://imgur.com/a/bkE2U (The Roost for Books / Notebooks)

I want to prop up textbooks while working at my computer.

However, $60 for a bookstand is bit on the high side, and I have a desktop, not a laptop. And textbooks can get heavy, but I doubt I'll ever run into a 200-pound book.

On the other hand, the collapsible feature is appealing for storage. I would be interested in a cheaper version of the Roost that might not be made of such strong materials, but is meant only to hold books.

Just thought I'd mention it, if you ever saw the demand.

I know, just like how redditors pointed out other notebook stand options, there are options for books. But they are either like this (not cheap, sturdy, but take up a lot of desk space): http://www.amazon.com/Book-Stand-Bookstand-Bookstands-Holder/dp/B001J9SFXK or like this (cheap, collapsible and look like they can't hold shit): http://www.amazon.com/Fellowes-Wire-Study-Stand-Silver-10024/dp/B00006B8HT/ref=pd_sim_op_1

u/cuteintern · 2 pointsr/Android

I have a book stand that is awesome for holding my tablet. It's wrought iron, very basic, and does a killer job holding my tablet in landscape form. If I were to use it for a phone I would have to rig something with a ruler and a book to give it a proper place to rest, but it's totally doable.

Unfortunately, it was given to me by an aunt before I went to college, and there are no marks on it to distinguish it.

You might be able to go with something like this from Amazon or at least derive some inspiration from that. I saw a ton of book stands on Amazon - I would imagine there's something out there you could use.

And there's nothing to stop you from making one yourself out of some nice lumber from a hardware store.

u/Talleyrayand · 2 pointsr/AskHistorians

Whether or not you like to type your notes or you like to write them out by hand like me, a good investment is a portable book stand. I can't tell you how useful one of those things was when I was reading for my oral exams.

I would say as far as reading and organization goes that there's no universal method that works for everyone; recognize your style and cater to it. I have to read things on paper (I hate e-books) and I have to take notes on paper, so I'll generally write in books and jot things down on PDF documents.

My tendency is to scribble short notes about refutation - just enough to help me remember what I disagreed with - and more detailed notes that will help me summarize the book's argument when I'm finished. Then I go through my notes and write a "literature review" of what I've read. I try to summarize the piece's argument as succinctly as possible and offer some constructive criticism - all within the span of less than a thousand words, which is about the word limit for a journal review. This helps me remember the book better than simply reading it, particularly if it's not a remarkable one.

My other piece of advice: for the love of God, be consistent. I've had colleagues who've had to switch note-taking methods midway through their research and ended up with a clusterfuck on their hands trying to adapt one format to another (in this case, note cards to Endnote X5).

u/BillyBuckets · 2 pointsr/medicalschool

If he uses Onenote or something to take notes in lecture, a Wacom tablet is awesome. There were ~5 people in my class that used a Wacom attached to their laptop during lecture.

This is the exact one that I have. If you search amazon for "monitor riser" you'll find a lot of other options as well. These ones are really nice for keeping things under and also hiding wires.

I'd would probably recommend one that doesn't adjust since the "legos" that make up the leg can be wobbly since they only just fit together.

u/Quibbler2412 · 2 pointsr/battlestations

The one pictured is this one. The quality is great, and I wouldn't say the price is that high.

u/keddren · 2 pointsr/battlestations

Alternatively.

I have this and I cannot recommend it enough if you're willing to spend the money.

u/Darth_Xedrix · 2 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

I bought this Ergotron mount a little while ago and even through it's far from the cheapest, the thing is insanely well built and can EASILY hold both of my 27" monitors. If you can afford it or it goes on a good sale I would jump on their stuff.

u/darkmooninc · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I have a very large desk and I'm running three 24' monitors on three separate Ergotron stands . Works awesome and I can position them all over. I guess you can also just get the dual stand . But either way, I say Ergotron all the way.

u/GkDragon · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I can not recommend Ergotron LX Dual enough.

u/wtfburritoo · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

This is what I use. It's plenty sturdy, gets my case up off the carpet about 6" or so, and still allows it to breathe through the bottom because of the holes throughout the base.

Edit: I use the "Large Monitor Stand," not the Jr.

u/WulfsigeAK · 2 pointsr/crtgaming

it depends, does the controller cable get in the way of the screen?
if it does, you can just turn the console a bit. or if the monitor is 40-50lbs get a stand and put the console under it.

u/saeraphas · 2 pointsr/sysadmin

For a year or so after college, between work at an MSP and coming home to an empty apartment and a very enthusiastic WoW habit, I was spending 17 hours a day in front of a computer. I started experiencing wrist pain that was so bad I couldn't drive my car anymore. I switched to a more ergonomic keyboard/mouse setup and my wrist pain disappeared within a few of weeks.

I've long since left the MSP and WoW, but I've kept the keyboard and mouse, and recommended the same pair to many coworkers.

Microsoft Natural 4000 Ergonomic Keyboard

Logitech G400 Mouse

I also make liberal use of Allsop Metal Art Monitor Risers and clamp-on monitor arms - in my opinion, monitor position is just as important as proper keyboard and mouse ergonomics because it affects back, shoulders, neck, and eye strain too.

EDIT:

In the past, I've had clients and management balk at the price tags on ergonomic hardware. They'll argue something like "I can go to Wal-Mart and buy a new mouse for fifteen dollars. Why should I spend four times that much on a video gaming mouse?" because they don't understand the value that ergonomic hardware actually provides in a workplace.

  1. Users who are comfortable in their workspaces can be more productive. It's tough to measure this one, because it's lots of little pieces that add up. From personal experience, though, I don't need to take as many breaks now as I did before I moved my monitors to a comfortable elevation, because my eyes and neck don't get fatigued as easily.

  2. Users who have a workspace that fits them are more likely to be happy in their jobs and are more likely to stay in their jobs longer. Even in my current sysadmin role, I still do a lot of deskside support, and I get to observe people in their workspaces doing all kinds of uncomfortable things, because they don't know that it can be any different. For example, I have a user whose workload is primarily oriented towards data entry and scheduling. She should have been issued a desktop or thin client, but since she occasionally needs to record meeting minutes in a conference room, the previous tech staff had issued her a 14" laptop. So every day she'd hunch over her desk and squint to see the screen. I installed a 24" monitor, a slightly more ergonomic keyboard and an ergonomic mouse while she was out at lunch. When I came in the next day, I had a handwritten thankyou card under my office door and a plate of homemade cookies in my mailbox, and so did the CFO and CEO. She was awestruck that we'd go out of our way to spend a little money on making her more comfortable. Total pricetag for the company? $200.

  3. New hardware is cheap. New staff are expensive. If I were to completely refit an existing staff's work area with a new monitor on an adjustable arm, ergonomic keyboard and mouse, and adjustable lumbar chair, it would cost the company less than $800, including my time. If we have to replace a staff, they have to go through a two-week paid training before they start doing any work, and it's some weeks after that before they are productive at the same level of the staff they replaced. The cost to the company during that time is thousands of dollars.

  4. Worker's compensation claims are expensive, even if the company doesn't have to pay. Because lawyers.
u/Buns_A_Glazing · 2 pointsr/Surface

Here you go. The one I have is the larger one. The Jr. sized one supposedly it just big enough to fit the xbox one under it.

u/ElderCub · 2 pointsr/3DS

I bought this Monitor Tree a while ago. It came with spacers for curved monitors, but I figured out that they were also the exact inner diameter as the c-stick's outer diameter. So I cut a few up and sanded them so they'd work. A few models later I came up with that one you see in the picture. I started out with 16, and probably used 4-5, but I can't find any of them except one. But I cant use that one or else I don't have a material sample to compare with. It seems to be some sort of nylon. I tried these ones. These are much too hard and sanding didn't do anything (they were also too small, that was my fault)

They are 2x AOC i2296Vw monitors and 2x of these VESA monitor mounts. Those AOC monitors regularly go on sale on Woot/Meh for ~$80 in price. They have very thin bezels (~0.5" on the top and sides).

On mobile, so formatting might be awful, but see below for a mounting kit I was looking at for a vesa-less Asus monitor I was thinking of mounting. This seems to have pretty good reviews and would get the job done. However, disclaimer: I've never used one before. Anyone care to chime in?

Dell U2414h has a gorgeous panel, I found it for $230 on amazon, and you most probably can fit 2 of those into your budget, and lower it by a lot by buying used (there a tons of those on the used market). For the mount, I personally use this one, it's really cheap in the US and the quality is amazing.

A quick estimate is ~63lbs. That sounds heavy, I question my math. But it isn't like I am carrying it around, it sits on a glass stand on a plastic mat for using an office chair on carpet. So it can easily just be slid around to get access to it.

HOWEVER - I need to be blunt here, I believe the 9900k will do better in every scenario you list, including your adobe use especially. I really dont want to see you jump into a 2700x, only to have the 9900k come down in price in a month and be kicking yourself for not waiting.

On my desk I have my monitor on an adjustable mount like this. When I want to race I pull it forward and down, and then pull up my rig. Not my rig but this is the idea. I pull the rig up to the monitor, and it sits directly in front of the screen. The monitor is basically the windshield. I do have plenty of room under my desk, so if you do not you might have to get creative.

u/_citizen67 · 2 pointsr/AskBattlestations

You've probably already made your decision, but just wanted to add that I've got two versions of the VIVO and they are both great for what they do.

The static version you linked above is what I use at work. It's nice for a really basic setup where the monitors are the same size and you don't intend to move them around much. I find it can be finicky to keep the monitor tops aligned. If the monitors aren't the same size, you have no control over how the monitors are vertically aligned.

For home, we used the VIVO articulated arms and they're much better for mixed sized monitors, and they can be adjusted on the fly. You can easily pull a screen towards you for detailed tasks (or gaming) and pop it right back into place. Totally worth it for less than $100.

This is inferior to the Staples one that I bought before... but I can't find the link now. Basically both legs move, so if you have intermittent OCD you're just going to readjust it every 5 secs until it's straight. The Staples one they move together and they also slope a bit more.

u/irbilldozer · 1 pointr/cookbooks

$20 though. Wouldn't one of those [textbook stands] ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00006B8HT/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?qid=1394293213&sr=1-3) be considerably cheaper. Not to mention the book being propped upright would free up counter space and the stand would make pages easier to turn with say just your knuckle while your hands are sticky with dough.

u/bagelchips · 1 pointr/BudgetAudiophile

I've been looking into options for raising the tv to accommodate a center speaker. Right now I'm using an adjustable monitor stand which just barely fits my center underneath. It seems the best option is going with a "universal tv stand" which installs in your VESA mount system. Many of these offer height adjustment to raise your tv enough to fit a center underneath.

Are you able to use monitor stands? I work on the PC all day too, and recently bought two of these to put my monitors on.

i have this for work and it works great. holds up my 34" widescreen on one arm and an auria 27" on the other. lots of range to adjust things and holds the weight no problem. i have the single arm versions at home too with similar setup. https://www.amazon.com/Ergotron-ERG45245026-Dual-Side-By-Side-Arm/dp/B0036FQ23A?

there are other brands that are cheaper with similar products, but i went with the brand i knew as the cost difference wasnt a concern.

u/q66 · 1 pointr/battlestations

The stand is this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Duronic-Spring-Monitor-Bracket-85%C2%B0Swivel-Black/dp/B00HZ0GEXU/

It holds the two 27" monitors fine, though mine are fairly heavy (even compared to many other 27" monitors) so it's pushing it - I had to tighten the imbus that holds the tilt of the monitor to the max so that the monitors would stay in place (without tilting down), but after doing that it works great. I can even extend the arms a lot, for example when I want to watch a movie from the couch I disable one of the monitors and extend the arm with the other one towards the couch. Handy stuff.

If you're willing to spend more money than that this might work too http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ergotron-Dual-Side-inch-Monitor/dp/B0036FQ23A but probably not much better than the Duronic, and costs considerably more... also will apparently allow for less arm extension.

in any case, avoid cheap monitor arms as they will perform poorly. It's not worth it trying to save on this kind of stuff. If it's below £50 you should be cautious.

u/Cookieblues · 1 pointr/battlestations

There's one. It holds two 24" monitors, but I think it could hold one 27" horizontal and one 20" vertical.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0036FQ23A/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0036FQ23A&linkCode=as2&tag=battlesnetwor-20
Then there's a slightly more expensive one by Ergotron who never lets you down. It holds two 25" monitors but again, I believe it can hold a 27" monitor horizantally and one 20" monitor vertically.

On my website www.battlestationnetwork.com, I will soon go over some different mounts, what you should look out for when buying one, etc.

I thought it was perfect because of the perforation I don't have to worry about ventilation. I was worried that it wouldn't be strong enough to hold the other way, but that top is welded on pretty good.

u/grissfam · 1 pointr/battlestations

I actually bought the same stand for my PS3 and monitor, I believe it was this stand.

u/BuckyDog · 1 pointr/hometheater

I am not sure if you can do a 5.1 by running speaker wires under a rug, etc. But I had a similar situation and I placed the center channel speaker and two book shelf speakers on top of the TV stand (left and right channels). I put the receiver on a stand behind the center channel speaker. I ran speaker wires under a rug and put the left and right surround sound speakers on stands next to the sofa. I put the subwoofer behind the sofa.

Later, I even put two bookshelf speakers and another subwoofer behind the sofa and for a short time was running a 7.2 surround sound system. It did not get much stereo separation, but it sounded great compared to a sound bar. Your situation is actually better than mine in some ways due to you having more room to put larger speakers under the TV than I had.

Here is the speakers and stand I was working with: http://amzn.com/B001202C44

Here is a stand similar to what I used for the receiver: http://amzn.com/B003M2YDE2

My wife was skeptical at first, but thought it was a good solution after I got it all hooked up.

u/sonsofaureus · 1 pointr/AskBattlestations

I thought about that when I put this together, but I came to the conclusion that the 17.6lb limit might be a per monitor weight limit. I think the poles and arms are engineered to take multiple monitors.
My reason for thinking this is that I use Vivo's 4 monitor mount at work to mount 4 LG 25 inch ultrawides (which are about 10 lbs each) and the pole and the arms are the same. I've had both mounts set up like this for over a year and neither has fallen apart yet or tipped over yet.
I don't know why I didn't think of this before, but I should mention to OP that OP can use the quad mount with 3 monitors, and this approach will be cheaper overall. Brainfart...

u/crystalllz · 1 pointr/Monitors

i have this one

u/bakedgoods33 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Gotcha. Anyways, I bought a quad monitor mount on Amazon for ~$55. I am only using it with two monitors right now though. You can just remove the other two arms, and use them later if you decide to change your setup. Also, it is built very well and sturdy, especially at that price. Also comes with all the tools you need, great cable management clips, and a clip to hold all the tools behind the monitors. Here is the link.

u/ElijahPost · 1 pointr/Battletops

Do you mean the mounting hardware? In which case I used this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009S7IDJQ?psc=1 . I also used some books to inch the side monitors up.

You're looking for a monitor arm with a stand, correct, not a c clamp or a grommet mount?

https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Standing-bolt-through-Adjustable-STAND-V003F/dp/B00DRF3YVC/

Vivo makes some nice looking mounts that are on the cheaper side, but have good reviews/durability. I've just purchased a few for work, they're nice. If you want the option to adjust the height easily, I'd suggest getting a gas spring/hydraulic system. Much more customizable regarding xyz axis movement (non-gas spring one's are generally limited to pulling forward/back. Changing the height involves an allen wrench/getting up.)

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KIXTYHY?psc=1

Mount-it also makes some nice looking mounts.

I owned that. It did the job fine. If worried about falling over, install the included bolt designed to go through your table... but I never did. My only complaint is that I couldn't get the side monitors to a very closed angle, only about 15-20 degrees... but that may not matter to most.

Correct. This stand I got from tiger direct for $49 on sale. It is OK, but the issue I'm having is the portrait monitors are set so far back from the main monitor and there is no way to adjust. Which is why I picked up two of these

Yeah, I really do miss having an extra monitor sometimes, it does take some getting used to. That's how I always done it anyway, if anything, you could always just turn them off if they get distracting.

The first one I found on Amazon (link) claims to hold 3 27" screens so I don't see why not. This was just the first one I found so I cannot comment on quality but the reviews are usually handy for stuff like that. I don't think an arm could do it, if so you'd need a solid desk.

u/FpsHawk00 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Most 3 monitor stands have an option to take off the main arm that holds 2 of the monitors.

Something like this allows you to do it.

I don't really understand. Is it single monitor setup or would Dell 27 be your 2nd monitor. Where are you trying to position in? Above main monitor? The reason I'm confused is because you specify you want to hang and I cannot imagine why hanging is important part.
You can get vertical mounts, of course. But they are not really hanging anything. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Duronic-DM35V2X2-Extended-Vertical-Warranty/dp/B01CR3CRMQ

If you’re gonna be adjusting them up and down, I’d recommend a double+ single Gas spring stand.

VIVO Dual Arm Monitor Desk Mount Height Adjustable, Tilt, Swivel, Counterbalance Gas Spring Stand | VESA Bracket Arm Fits Most Screens 13" to 27" (STAND-V002O) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N2YFO5Z/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_aNm-Bb2H5XTF3

If you’re just going to be raising and lowering the desk itself, then I’d just recommend a standard dual + single monitor stand.

Mount-It! Dual LCD Monitor Desk Mount Stand Heavy Duty Fully Adjustable Arms Fits 2 / Two Screens up to 27", VESA 75 and 100 (MI-752) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0052AWGLE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_tPm-Bb5XT45BR

Make sure to pickup the AM4 mounting hardware (free) if you get the H7 http://www.cryorig.com/news.php?id=69

The next step up would probably be... the Scythe FUMA w/$5 hardware kit:

They are about as good as any other 240mm AIO, they just have a different looking block design. Reason being is that Asetek has a patent for pump being integrated into the block itself so other companies place it directly above to avoid that.

Good air coolers like the Scythe Fuma offer similar performance at a lower cost. Even if they don't say AM4 compatibility on the box you can often order mounting hardware and have it arrive at the same time.

For example: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XRDDXDN

It "should". You can also get them for approximately $4.50 on amazon or performancepcs or etc. Though it'd be a pain to have to wait 5 days for that.

Except now the amazon listing is no longer there...am I missing something?

u/vagabond139 · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

It will fit. You will need to buy a AM4 bracket for it though.

Monitor weight is 16.10 LBS without stand, so anything that can hold 17+ should be fine, if you go over 20 lbs then it's really hard to normal priced arm.

There is few more options, but it also depends what amazon are you using. But generally monitors over 20 lbs are issues to mount or better said super expensive to mount.

This is what I use for my 27GL850. I like it a lot. Does what I need it to do. I have it mounted through a grommet and I can angle the monitor in a way where I can get it close to the wall without hitting it. The grommet plate could’ve been better though—the small adhesive pads suck but it works. Other than that, overall quality is pretty sturdy. Currently $33.99.

I'm using the Vivo pneumatic dual arm mount.

Edit: Here's a link for anyone looking to get the same one.

Hello, I currently have a single 29 inch ultrawide monitor+ pc-011 dynamic setup, looking to get a desk and a monitor arm. Have come across the following
https://www.ikea.com/ca/en/p/gerton-tabletop-beech-50106773/

2 of these

https://www.ikea.com/ca/en/p/finnvard-trestle-with-shelf-birch-30345717/

and this for the monitor arm

https://www.amazon.ca/VIVO-Monitor-Pneumatic-Sit-Stand-STAND-V002K/dp/B07DFT56Z7/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=vivo+monitor+arm&qid=1573201102&s=electronics&sr=1-7

Questions:

- Are there better alternatives to the trestle I chose compatible with the tabletop? I just wanted it to be height adjustable but avoided spending on an electric table mount.

- Does the tabletop support the monitor arm well as in, likely to get damaged over time due to the weight?

nah, it mounts to the desk with a clamp :) It's really stable, too. On the left, I am running https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DFT56Z7 for the arms. They're really good and also clamp to the desk.

No holes, drilling, or any sort of damage, either. Even with the cheap MALM 'desk' I have, you can't tell where the mounts used to be, and I've had monitor arms for about five or so years.
