(Part 3) Best body skin care products according to redditors
We found 4,233 Reddit comments discussing the best body skin care products. We ranked the 1,671 resulting products by number of redditors who mentioned them. Here are the products ranked 41-60. You can also go back to the previous section.
While we're on the topic of single ingredient cosmetics:
Josie Maran's Argan Oil is just that. Argan Oil. Find it much cheaper at places like Garden of Wisdom.
Same thing for Tarte's Maracuja Oil. It is Passionfruit seed oil which is also at Garden of Wisdom.
Dr. Lipp's Nipple Balm for Lips is just "medical grade lanolin".
I'm sure there's more, but I can't think of any off the top of my head.
Edit: Oh and L'occitane's 100% Pure Shea Butter for $42 is obviously just shea butter. Amazon has a lot of that.
I've had KP since I was a kid and am finally getting handle on it in my 30s. My current routine is glycolic lotion twice a day, creams on the affected areas 3-4 times a day, and then physical exfoliation and using zinc or sulfur soap a couple times a week to keep the bumps at bay. But since skincare is YMMV, here's the exhaustive list of almost two decades of treatment, in case some of these other things will work for you!
100% of the items can be purchased via Amazon in the US - it's pretty much the only way I shop.
Beginner Level
If your KP has just appeared, focus on physical+chemical exfoliation and moisturizing. Look for lotions with the following ingredients:
Paula's Choice and Derma Doctor's KP duty both work well because they combine a few of these, but you can also get Amlactin, Eucerin and Glytone which are more focused on a single ingredient. Nearly all of the Eucering, Gold Bond, Cetaphil, etc. creams that work have one of the above ingredients, so take a look at the back of the bottle or on CosDna to figure out what works best for you. Prescription creams include Carmol 40 and Ammonium Lactate in higher concentrations.
Physical exfoliation includes:
My dermatologist also recommended moisturizing CONSTANTLY, which really helped smoothe my arms. According to his instructions, "constantly" meant that I needed to be able to feel the lotion on my skin 24/7 for at least 3 weeks, which for me meant a new layer of cream every hour or two. Pretty much any moisturizing lotion or cream will do. I'm partial to [CeraVe Moisturizing Cream] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013GDK3SQ/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) (creams are less watered down than lotions, and this one drys down wonderfully, leaveing my skin feeling buttery but not sticky). Lush dream cream and Aveeno are also faves.
Intermediate Level
If a bit of exfoliation and moisture aren't working, you might want to consider if there are other skin conditions making your KP worse. For example, it turned out for me I had some fungal skin issues that made my KP bumps more inflamed. Topical steroids can help, but use with care as they can cause skin thinning. Try adding something with the following ingredients in to see if any of the following work. Also talk with your derm about getting a mild prescription treatment that might include an antibacterial or steroid component.
As others have mentioned, sunlight also helps. Either give yourself 15 minutes of sun a day or look into UV treatments.
Finally, consider dietary factors – for me cutting out dairy, sugar, and gluten when I really want crystal clear skin makes a big difference. Adding healthy oils and fats to your diet can also improve skin quality.
Advanced Level
I not only have KP, but years of scarring and redness (Post Inflammatory Erythema, or PIE) from picking at the bumps when I was younger. Laser treatments have almost 100% gotten rid of this and made my arms the smoothest and clearest they've been in almost two decades. However, these are pricey (for me, ~$200 a treatment and it took 4) and a serious time commitment. But if nothing else works, consider it.
Other Tips
Awesome tip: Eucerin is great for healing minor (as in, not requiring a hospital visit) wounds without scarring. Disinfect using an antiseptic wash or hydrogen peroxide, the slather that shit on like cream cheese on a bagel. Put a bandage or gauze+wrap over it so it doesn't smear off. Repeat daily until healed.
I've used it for burn scars, major cat scratches, kitchen knife incidents, etc.
Let me start by saying this: I would have included a before pic but I was so ashamed that I never took any pictures when I was constantly biting my nails/cuticles. I am in my early 20s and I've been doing this to them since before I can remember (early childhood). I first tried to stop around 14, and have struggled since then. It is such an ingrained stress response/habit that it's taken me years to retrain myself. It was easier to stop biting my nails and I haven't done so at all in 6 months, but my cuticles/surrounding skin are another story. This is something I still struggle with as it's triggered by stress and I don't realize I've started until they're trashed. However, since January it's happened less and less, now maybe once a month or less.
What caused the change in me? Honestly, it was never one single thing. I have been building my ability to resist for years. I realize this is cliche but one important thing is to never give up. I've had too many backslides to count, from 1 day to even half a year at the most. What's helped me is NEVER accepting defeat, and always eventually trying again. One motivating factor was that I've always wanted to have nice nails for getting engaged/married. It was in January that that became an event occurring sooner rather than later, so I will definitely say that has helped me stay focused!
There was one part of stopping the habit that scared me after years of constantly damaging my nails and cuticles: would they ever properly heal and grow back 'normal'? As of yet I still do not have one straight answer. I will say that the strength in my nails has improved, although it is slow going. I am still on the lookout for products to help with this, although I think only time will help. I also tend to have some nails which are very ridged, but they've also continued to smooth out. Finally, there is one cuticle I have which was permanently damaged in a way that's difficult to explain. Basically, it grows in three separate sections, almost as if it's cut. I was absolutely AMAZED when it started to grow 'connected' again! I will say this it sometimes splits still, but it is definitely progress and I hope one day it's completely healed. So, if you're in the same boat and worried permanent damage has been done, I can't make any promises but I will say it's amazing how well they can bounce back - even if it takes months or years to reverse it.

What helped me:
There is honestly so much more I could say but this post would be a book! I'm just taking the time now to sit back and enjoy all of my progress.
Here's what I would suggest:
Razor: either this one if you want to stay frugal or this one if you want to splurge a bit. I'd stay away from the QShave. It's a clone of a razor with a lot of design issues. One being that the head is so large it's hard to get under the nose, etc.; another issue is that it is extremely aggressive even at its lowest setting.
Brush: This synthetic brush. I think it's much better to start with a synthetic than a boar brush. Boar brushes are less comfortable on your face and actually make it more difficult to make lather until they break in. No reason to mess with those variables when you're just trying to get the hang of it. As for this specific synthetic brush, I have one and it is an amazing value for the money. It is one of about a dozen brushes I own, some of which were $200+, and this $12 brush holds its own with them.
Shaving soap: Lots of options here. Barrister & Mann's Latha line performs extremely well and is a great value. Several scents to choose from. Barrister &
Mann's Glissant line is a bit more expensive but has even better performance and more complex scents. Seville is a particularly good starting point with B&M, just an extremely clean, classic, masculine scent. Pre de Provence and Pre de Provence No. 63 are classic french soaps that smell great and perform very well.
Aftershave: Even more options here. You could go with Thayer's witch hazel with aloe, or if you want a traditional high alcohol aftershave, Fine Accoutrements is excellent. There are several scents, all based on popular and/or classic colognes. Or you could splurge and get the world's greatest aftershave product, L'Occitane Cade After Shave Balm.
Blades: Amazon has some good deals on blades in bulk but just sucks for sampler packs, and you want to start with a sampler pack because reasons. So head on over to TryABlade and order two of the "Top 10 Sampler." You can't use your Amazon credit there, but it's going to come to less than $10 including shipping.
So, if you go with the cheapest option in each category, you come out to fifty dollars or so if I'm adding right, which leaves you room to pick out one or more of those splurge options I mentioned.
You might go in a completely different direction and make personalized beauty supplies. Possibly a bath bomb or a salt scrub, a simple lotion, an even simpler shea butter recipe which only two ingredients, just whip them, and plain shea butter can be cheap in bulk, you just need to whip it with an egg beater for a minute. It's a but greasy but absorbs into dry skin quickly and is super moisturizing. You can even make things with your own honey. Ask your mother-in-law about her mother's skin type and any possible conditions.
I'd definitely get a second test done, if only to confirm the results of the first one. But, it's also possible that one allergy is making you hypersensitive to everything so if you could eliminate that the rest of your symptoms would at least decrease.
For your skin, try some raw Shae butter (like this) and switch to natural soaps like Dr. Bronner's.
The only other thing I can think of would be to try to incorporate fermented foods into your diet. The live bacteria in sauerkraut, kimchi, &c as well as sheep/goat yoghurt and kefir could help build up the good bacteria in your gut and help it deal with the other food you (want to) eat.
If I were buying for myself, I'd get:
$23.59 - Edwin Jagger DE89L
$62.00 - Semogue Owners Club 2-band badger
$13.49 - Pre de Provence No. 63
$99.07 - Total
I have low porosity 4c hair. Lately i've been i've been making my own moisturizing cream by mixing shea butter + glycerin + grapeseed oil. Some water in my hair + this cream makes it SO SOFT!

P.S. it's cool to see what products everyone loves, but it's pretty useless to others unless you let us know what your hair type is!
Ooh, my time to shine! Swimming hair care expert here- swim 6x a week for ~90 minutes a session in chlorinated pools and still maintain shiny gorgeous locks. Do the following and you'll be good:
I really do believe that artificial hormones really f with our systems (joys of being a woman). I have a friend who had to go back on birth control because, like you, going off made her skin freak out, and I got a hormonal IUD a year ago and have only just gotten my hormonal breakouts mostly under control.
I was suffering from cystic breakouts on my face and back (ow!!). My saving grace was sulfur soap - it made everything vanish within weeks. I don't get those painful cysts anymore!! It's super cheap, and the bar lasts for a while. I use it in the shower every day. It does smell but I find it doesn't linger after drying off (and the results are worth it regardless). I first learned about it from some obscure comment after hours of digging on r/SkincareAddiction and I wish it was more well-known because it really changed my skin.
Egyptian magic could work.
Ingredients:
Olive Oil, Bees Wax, Honey, Bee Pollen, Royal Jelly, and Bee Propolis
I used to have this problem every winter. There's a difference between treating the problem and putting a bandaid on it. If your skin is dry and flaky, it probably needs more than moisturizer. I would try hydrating toner + something with urea, ceramides, fatty acids, or squalane (among others) + a heavy moisturizer + (optional: seal with Vaseline or Aquaphor). Using a chemical exfoliant 1-2 times a week could help a lot as well.
Everyone's skin is different, but what worked for me was directly after washing my face applying and layering hydrating toners (I used Kikumasamune High Moist Lotion; followed by Hadalabo Milky Lotion Premium; followed by Stratia Liquid Gold which contains ceramides; followed by a heavy moisturizer with a drop of Squalane (TO has a cheap option for squalane oil.)
There are multiple moisturizers that will work for your need. Clinique 72-hour Moisture Surge Intense, First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream, Cerave (AM or PM), La Roche-Posay, etc. Some people swear by sealing it all in with an occlusive in the form of Vaseline or Aquaphor. Becareful, as this does break some people out.
Lastly, using a chemical exfoliant 1-2 times per week will help with cell turnover and ridding of dead skin.
Edited to add: Another thing that was a big help for me was switching from drying foaming cleansers to oil cleansing!
This is good advice. A summary of my bacne treatment, learned from /r/SkincareAddiction:

Pharmacist here: lol what /u/Weynard_Muldrake said is absolutely right. Using anything water-based (creams, lotions) pulls moisture away from the skin (which seems to defeat the point of lotion afterall lol) so if you want to moisturize, using an oil or an ointment (ointment especially) helps to create a barrier between the skin and the environment so the water/moisture can't evaporate off. Combination skin can be tricky; some kind of oatmeal mask first maybe then moisturize? A product that I like to recommend is pharmaceutical grade lanolin. This product has done WONDERS for my dry lips this winter, and lanolin is commonly used as a base in compounded ointments. I can't attest for Black Magic Soap but hope my comment helped a little. Good luck!
I'm including links to what I purchased on Amazon but you can shop around and get what you need :) If you end up getting what I'm linking to, it'll last you quite a while. I even sell some occasionally.
This is my nut free version but you I'll include some alternatives if you want to use different butters/oils. Basically, you want equal parts so adjust the recipe for amount you want. This will give you a little more than 2oz of body butter which lasts me at least a month and I put it on quite a bit. You only need a little at a time.
Steps:
You just need a small amount and it'll melt from your body heat and soak into your skin. Feels AMAZING.
Yup, probiotics have about as much health-benefits as taking multivitamins. Nothing concrete as far as we know now.
Want to treat your eczema? Take colder showers. Keep your living space clean. Get plenty of sleep. Eat healthier. Go to an allergist and figure out what you are allergic to (cannot stress this one enough). Keep your skincare routine simple, but effective. I basically only use a moisturizer and protopic when things get bad.
I use this moisturizer, Eucerin Original Healing Creme. I love this product because it literally only contains seven ingredients (Water, Petrolatum, Mineral Oil, Ceresin, Lanolin Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Piroctone Olamine), none of which cause flareups for myself. Highly recommend it.
I also use this shampoo, and it's been working very well for me so far. No more dandruff or scalp itchiness.
I do not use any facial cleansers or body shampoo, mostly because I haven't found a good product for myself yet. My skin stays relatively clear even without using them too. Open to suggestions though if people have any.
It looks like it's eczema calming body moisturizer
I had really bad upper bacne. What solved it for me was using an italy towel or a [salux] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007IAE5WY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) towel and [this] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00606RORK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) soap. Not the best lather but I have no bacne what so ever and the scars are going away too :) Just need to remember to patch test it first to make sure you don't have a reaction to it.
Okay this is what cleared up my chest and back in two weeks.
2% Pyrithione Zinc (ZnP) Bar Soap
Alpha Skin Care Revitalizing Body Lotion with 12% Glycolic AHA
I'm also using two other products to lighten the leftover marks (Alpha Hydrox
Spot Light Targeted Skin Lightener & InstaNatural Niacinamide 5% Face Serum) but haven't seen much improvement in that regard.
Yes, and I would also advise avoiding any area that holds a lot of moisture... since they're never really relatively "dry" (1cm radius from corners of nose, 5mm radius from corners of eyes, 5mm radius from corners of mouth). I also slather a thick layer of lanolin balm/wax on my lips before bed to ensure the tretinoin does not transfer from my face, to my pillowcase, and then onto my lips.

I am not 100% certain on this, but the wetter the skin is, the more permeable it is. You would think that it would be advantageous to apply tretinoin to damp skin for greater effect but it's never ended well for me, and I definitely pay the price within 2-3 days if not the immediate next morning.
It really bugs me how they can charge you so much for their beard oil product. I bought an oz when i first started growing my beard and couldn't believe the constant average of price on beard oils. You can find all of the ingredients they list in their description to make their beard oils on Amazon. Almond, Jojoba, and avocado all usually come in 8oz bottles. Buy whichever essential oil scent you like and you have a large bottle full of your own beard oil, and it is just as good.

YES! Sheseido makes an excellent hand cream with 10% urea which will zap roughness and exfoliate off all the dead, nasty skin and leave your hands plump and hydrated. Kose also makes a terrific one that is very velvety but doesn't have any exfoliating properties called Coenrich Q10 DEEP MOIST.
A trick that I use tho, to keep my hands looking and feeling hydrated is to make sure I massage in excess toner/essence/creme from my facial routine into my hands.
If your hands are really in a sorry state you may want to consider 2 non AB products: Flexitol cream which has 25% urea plus vit B5, aloe, shea, vit E, glycolic acid, and lanolin. Use it as an over night treatment with your hands covered in gloves or socks. And of course, the item I constantly talk about Eucerin Original Healing Creme, a bland, heavy duty moisturizer that will leave your hands soft and supple.
ETA: forgot to add links
I just started using this brand and it is absolutely wonderful! It is the only argan oil I have tried, but the comments say its comparable to Josie Maran.
http://www.amazon.com/Pura-dor-Organic-Argan-Nails/dp/B004Z209HS/ref=sr_1_1?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1417585821&sr=1-1&keywords=argan+oil
A nice bonus is if you write a review, they will send you another bottle for free!
A common active ingredient in Head and Shoulders shampoos is pyrithione zinc. If that helped you before it might work in a bar as well. I’m not sure if you use amazon or want to order one but this is one used to treat dandruff. You may have luck finding the vanicream z bar in drugstores near you.
Stridex is easiest, but cheap is salicylic acid soap. I get a blue bar from walmart for like 2 bucks and it lasts a month or so if I only use it on my face (I also hit my chest, armpits [really good to reduce BO and crusty pits] and my upper shoulders/back). I am an oily dude btw, probably obvious though, so your mileage may vary but it is awesome stuff.
E: So walmart also sells a cheap sulfur soap that I use, but here is something on amazon with both in one bar-- https://www.amazon.com/SAL3-Salicylic-Acid-Sulfur-Soap/dp/B00685KUGA/ref=pd_sim_194_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00685KUGA&pd_rd_r=31e721fe-bae8-11e8-8a49-4dd240b1bebd&pd_rd_w=v7IZA&pd_rd_wg=sdjwg&pf_rd_i=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=18bb0b78-4200-49b9-ac91-f141d61a1780&pf_rd_r=EFX5XHZ6QKXBBCVGV4WZ&pf_rd_s=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_t=40701&psc=1&refRID=EFX5XHZ6QKXBBCVGV4WZ
My understanding is that SA is essentially aspirin, so I dont really splurge for the expensive on that because I imagine it is wasteful (same for sulfur too). In my local walmart the soap with spanish language on the front is usually about 1/3 the price of the english label on the next aisle
this is the one I buy specifically. It comes in a little twist-cap plastic jar so your bathroom doesn't smell like sulfur and it preserves the soap so it doesn't melt away when it gets wet.
The smell is not THAT strong but you will still smell it faintly. You do get used to it very quickly.
I wash with plain soap first and exfoliate well then I wash with the sulfur soap letting it stay on my skin for a minute or two instead of washing it off right away. It treats my body acne and eczema very well
Thank you ♥️ my doses were as follows:
Month 1:
20mg
Month 2 & 3:
40mg
Month 4:
80mg
Luckily I never really popped my pimples so I never got deep scars; only hyperpigmentation. I avoid the sun like the plague so that's going away on its own.

I should be taking fish oil for joint pain but I'm not lol
If you want something that is just good enough to get the job done and don't care for scent, go for a shave stick or cream in a tube such as La Toja, Arko, Derby, Wilkinson Sword, Speick, Palmolive etc.
But honestly, your best bet would be Pre de Provence. It's very cheap and because it's a quadruple-milled soap, it will last many years plus the quality and scent of it is amazing.
If you want to use an oil as an aftershave, try jojoba oil. A 4oz bottle will last you six months as it only takes 2-4 drops to moisturize your beard area. It feels really great going on but does leave you looking a bit shiny.
As other comments say, it sounds like you need to stop using an alcohol-based aftershaves and try a balm. I am currently using The Shave Den Aftershave Milk (which lists jojoba oil as its #2 ingredient) or I recommend Taylor of Old Bond Street Herbal Aftershave Balm which has avocado oil along with honey and wheatgerm.
If you are worried about skin infections, do as the others suggest and get a nice alum block. After shaving, rinse with warm then cool water, rub alum block all over your face, allow to dry for a minute while you clean up the sink area, then rinse off and apply balm of choice.
I would be very careful with using Vaseline as an occlusive. Definitely patch test it for a prolong period (like 2 weeks) before going all out. Better to have a small patch of blemishes than a face full of it. It does sound like your skin might benefit from something exfoliating like the C20 to help with dullness, but without some good hydrating & occlusive products, that will just land you in trouble.
My HG hydrating & moisturizing 'products':
DYI Witch Hazel, HA, & Glycerin toner (sometimes I add a few drops of high linoleic facial oil or tea tree oil to the mixture). This is my, 'I screwed up my face using too much acne medication/trying a new product that it hates' savior. I know for a fact my skin response very well to these 3 items mixed together & I can always turn to this DYI toner without risk of a reaction. It isn't hydrating enough for me just to use it without a cream of some sort, but it is the figurative lifejacket of skincare routine.
Carezone Doctor's Solution Dematology Hydra Toner, this the most hydrating toner I've ever come across that doesn't break me out.
Carezone Doctor's Solution Dematology H.A. Cream, this cream is on the heavier side, but damn if it doesn't hydrate & moisturize my skin without causing a bad reaction.
Mediheal Mediental Balhyo-Jinjeong Healing Mask is the best damned face mask I've ever used (thank you, Snow White & Asian Pear!) Comfortable to use, crazy moisturizing, & soothing as all get out. The blue, yellow, & purple versions are extremely nice, but the green one has my heart!
I tried to go with cheaper, more accessible Asian & Western products, & soooooo much regret, especially in regards to the toner & cream. As long as they make that those 2 Carezone products & that Mediheal mask, I will be a loyal customer! My only regret is they aren't the easiest to buy. I usually get all 3 off Koreadepart but I may try another vendor the next time I need to order them.
If you're not sensitive to snail, the COSRx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence might be the way to go. It's got a pretty limited ingredient list & it's easy to get a hold of without breaking the bank.
The "oil" is basically silicone with a little argan oil. Silicones dry out and become heavy on hair. I have been using pure argan oil (for about half the price!) And its been aaamaaazing on my hair...it just drinks it up, makes it soft and doesn't leave it oily. Also, it really sinks into my skin. (I have acnetic skin and it doesnt clog my pores, but leaves it soft)
I would say try out some natural argan oil and see if that does it for ya.

Product name: Sal3 bar soap
Product type: cleanser
Price (range): 5.99 for a bar on amazon - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00685KUGA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Bnz6BbEMYC785
Country of purchase: USA
Skin info: Type II, acne prone, rosacea, sensitive (and irritated from tretinoin)
Ingredient list: Active ingredients: 3% salicylic acid, 10% sulfur. Inactive ingredients: saponified palm and palm kernal oils, glycerin, lanolin, cocamide DEA, ethanol, titanium dioxide.
Special info: high pH of close to 9 I believe, and it has an earthy dirt like smell
Experience & opinion: honestly this saved my skin. I went from irritated and red with cc’s all over to semi clear. It’s strong and the pH isn’t ideal but it helps with redness and irritation so much! I was told to use it by my derm to help with the irritation from the tret and to work on the rosacea. I use it once a day and rub it in for about 90 seconds as per her instructions.
I have this too and I've used AmLactin Ultra Triple Action Alpha Hydroxy Acid Hydrating Body Cream, which was recommended by my dermatologist and while the little red bumps are still there, they are much less noticeable and my skin is so much softer!
I've also used DermaDoctor's KP Duty line and found it not as effective for it's really high price.
I also pick at my legs. It doesn’t help that I have keratosis pilaris. I tried using an epilator for a while, but I kept ending up with ingrown hairs that I would then pick at some more.
I tend to pick at my legs when I’m very anxious.
One thing that I’ve found recently is AmLactin. If I’m consistent with it, I barely have anything to pick at on my legs. I’ve been thinking about trying the epilator again and then using AmLactin 24hrs after, and continue with it daily.
https://www.amazon.com/AmLactin-Smoothing-Alpha-Hydroxy-Exfoliates-Non-greasy/dp/B007FZR99I/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&ref=yo_pop_d_yo_pop_d_pd_t2
Tanning beds work, but they're not nearly as effective as phototherapy.
There are three types of UV light used in mainstream phototherapy: UVA, narrowband UVB (or NB-UVB) and PUVA (psoralen-UVA).
How effective is a normal tanning bed compared to UVB? No idea. I haven't found any papers measuring it. It's probably only 20-30% as effective. You have to balance this against the skin damage (you may want to wear clothing and expose only the parts you want to treat).
Keep in mind, too, that some people don't see any improvement from phototherapy at all. Psoriasis is a highly individual disease.
As for scales, descaling is a thing. Find a moisturizer with 10-40% urea. Urea is amazing in that it dissolves dead skin cells, and also happens to be a natural moisturizer. Eucerin Dry Intensive 10% urea is a good one, though there are many other products.
I have very sensitive dry skin as well.
I use Eucerin Eczema Relief Cream on my face. It's non-comedogenic, fragrance free, and has colloidal oatmeal for redness/irritation and ceramides for moisture.
I got it as a dupe for the expensive First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream, which has irritants like eucalyptus oil.
I highly recommend the Eucerin. It's the only heavy cream I can use that doesn't break me out and calms my tretinoin induced redness and irritation.
In terms of a facial oil: Timeless Squalane 100% Pure is a non-comedogenic, bland, non-greasy option that would be a great place to start. I use it as well and it does not break me out or cause any irritation.
Exfoliating with glycolic acid (AHA) products like this lotion. I have KP that looks like dark spots on my skin or like my hair follicle is still visible after shaving and this helps that too. Physical exfoliation is not enough for me. Also, shaving everyday when needed.
Not sure what your budget is, but here are a few soap of the lower-cost, Amazon available soaps that I would recommend.
Pré de Provence
Pré de Provence is an excellent triple- or by some accounts quad-milled soap French soap, and strikes one of the best cost/performance/longevity ratios I've ever seen on a soap. It creates an excellent, slick, protective lather and provides an awesome post-shave feel even after you rinse it off. It comes in two scents:
Pré de Provence is a light, herbal scent that seems to have a strong sage note in it. I haven't used it, but I have used its brother. $11.99USD for 150g on Amazon.
Pré de Provence No. 63 is a warm, spicy cologne sort of scent that has notes of pepper, cedarwood, leather and tobacco leaves among others. $14.04USD for 150g on Amazon.
Cella Crema da Barba
Cella is a soft Italian soap that has a mild scent of cherry and almond. I don't know if it would be considered "manly," but this stuff has been around for nearly 120 years, and men have been shaving with it for all that time, so it has to be doing something right. It's also a great performer with good post-shave feel. $12.00 for 150g on Amazon.
La Toja
La Toja is a Spanish soap in stick form, containing mineral salts. Its scent reminds me a bit of briny sea air and talcum powder. La Toja's claim is that the addition of the mineral salts helps as a skin conditioner. $6.00USD for 50g on Amazon.
Speick
Speick is a German soap whose scent comes from the speick plant and lavender essential oil. It's one of my favorite soaps of all time in terms of both performance and scent. $8.08USD on Amazon.
Chiseled Face Groomatorium
Chiseled Face is one of our US artisans, and his products are among the best performing that I've ever used. He has a handful of different scents that you may find interesting, but my favorite of them is Ghost Town Barber.
Chiseled Face Ghost Town Barber has notes of bergamot, basil leaf, white patchouli, oakmoss, texas cedar, leather, smoke, and gunpowder (I copy/pasted that from his description). $14.99USD for 113g on Amazon.

These are all US links, so I hope they work for you. I'm sorry to say that I can't help with the dry skin thing; my skin is fairly oily and not overly sensitive.
Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89
Brush: Fendrihan Synthetic
Shaving Cream: Speick (currently overpriced)
Or if you want to go for a Shaving Soap:
Shaving Soap: PdP 63
or
B&M Latha Oceana
AfterShave: Nivea Sensitive Cooling (or get one from local drugstore, walmart etc (non cooling version))
Blades: Get this from tryablade.com
But if I were you:
I would get: the DE89 razor from Amazon, a 22mm synthetic brush from Maggard Razors, B&M Seville Shave soap/Speick Shave Cream from Maggard Razors, Blade Sampler from tryablade, and nivea aftershave balm sensitive from Local stores
I have some sensitivity issues, and Desert Essence Jojoba Oil is working well for me.

Sure! I use a mix of castor, grapeseed, and argan oil. Jojoba didn't work that well for me. This is the castor:
http://www.amazon.com/Heritage-Store-Castor-Oil-Ounce/dp/B000BNRKPY/ref=sr_1_15_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1458751502&sr=1-15&keywords=Castor+oil
Grapeseed:

I can't find the argan I bought anymore, but it was similar in price and quality to this:
http://www.amazon.com/RejuveNaturals-Virgin-Moroccan-Argan-Oil/dp/B00WJ2G8IA/ref=sr_1_25_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1458751679&sr=1-25&keywords=Argan+oil
The castor and grapeseed I bought at whole foods, those same brands. They have a ton of oils. Then I cleanse with cerave foaming:
http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod5140065
And just regular Nivea cream, the kind that comes in a tin. They also have big tubs of it:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Nivea-Creme-6.8-oz/12514829
Hope this helps! You can buy all of the products at whole foods and target.
Also! I'm not sure if the rest of my routine is something everyone would agree with. It's very barebones, and I know some people prefer incorporating more steps and using other products. I just use those because I haven't been able to find anything else that I like that also doesn't breaks me out.
I had really dry lips last winter and I bought a tub of lanolin because someone on here had recommended Australian Gold Lanolin. It smells much better (or just less like a wet sheep?) than most lanolin, so it could be worth a try!
I used the TonyMoly peach hand cream for awhile, but while it smells AMAZING, it's kind of mediocre as a hand cream and trace contact with my face tends to aggravate my dermatitis. Right now I'm using my regular body lotion (Acure Organics Cocoa Butter + CoQ10 unscented) because I can't/don't want to use anything with drying alcohols/strong synthetic fragrance but I'm thinking of getting this straight up pure pharmaceutical grade lanolin combined with the Nubian Heritage Mango Butter Lotion which has raw shea and mango butters along with weaker/stable forms of vitamin A, C, and E.
What have you been putting on them? I would say some sort of salve, Vaseline, or of course Egyptian Magic which is a bit expensive but is AMAZING, and lasts FOREVER (you only need the tiniest bit). You can use it on everything - lips, eyelashes, face, scars, cuts and scrapes, chaffed skin, feet, cuticles. Everything. I've had my jar for like six years.
Enough of that, though, if you don't have any Vaseline or a salve on hand, an unscented lotion may also help. Definitely nothing with a fragrance. Are you staying hydrated enough?
Grapeseed Oil and Jojoba Oil. I mix about a quarter-sized puddle of jojoba, and add a nickle sized puddle of grapeseed. I rub it all over my face, then remove the makeup and oil with a hot, wet rag.
Pros:
Cons:
This is the best way I've found of cleansing my face and removing my makeup at the same time. My skin is much better overall for it. I like it much better than wipes, which was what I used previous. I'm one of those weirdos that must remove all traces of makeup before bed. No raccoon eyes for me in the morning!
I’m so sorry about the rosacea you beautiful ladies. I have some tips that may help:

$11 and change per tub. Steroid cream isn't cheaper, you just have a cheap co-pay on your insurance.
That and $8 will get you some Shea
Me too. Do you think this one would work just as well? I'd like to try this.
I have yet to try these but they are on my list when I need more shampoo:
https://zerowastestore.com/products/zero-waste-cobalt-shampoo-bar
They have a couple scents but they look eerily similar to lush’s bars.
Noble Formula 2% Pyrithione Zinc (ZnP) Vegan Mango and Cocoa Butter Bar Soap, 3.25 oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00606RORK/
This appears to be the best bar version for dandruff. (I want to mention this one because there’s another brand on amazon/Etsy that is for dandruff but they have palm oil. When I asked if they had any palm oil free options, they sent me a manifesto on how expensive finding an alternative is so poop on them.)
rant
I got sick which put me in terrible condition and it ended up affecting my ability to complete my skincare routine every night and has made my eye area and nose super chapped, so i've been using petroleum jelly to moisturise those areas... really sucks when i've been working hard to be consistent with my routine and then BAM sick me just wants to give everything up and let a bad breakout happen
rave
The Paula's Choice Super Light Wrinkle Defense SPF 30 is AMAZING, I can't get over how cosmetically elegant it is, it is pretty much everything I want out of a sunblock. It is completely zinc oxide based with at least SPF 30 and it doesn't pill at all on my skin and dries to a matte finish and manages to keep me significantly less oily throughout the day. It's tinted and I am pretty sure the tint is too dark for me and I'd actually prefer a whitecast versus a tinted cast, but I don't mind because it isn't noticeable at all and makes this product usable by a wide range of skintones.
new purchases
They also have a vegan formula from the same brand:

I use the Sal3 sulfur/salicylic acid soap also from Braunfels, and I find is rinses away pretty much odorless too. The maker claims it's because of its "colloidal" formulation: https://www.amazon.com/SAL3-Salicylic-Acid-Sulfur-Soap/dp/B00685KUGA/ref=sr_1_3?m=AA82KDCI0X2JF&marketplaceID=ATVPDKIKX0DER&qid=1565155864&s=merchant-items&sr=1-3
It can be very drying though, be sure to have a good moisturizer and maybe use every other day.
This is the bar soap I'm working through. Sal3
I hate bar soap, so hopefully I can find a liquid version. This stuff smells, so I usually follow up with regular body wash so I don't smell like an active volcano.
SAL3 Soap: A bar soap with 10% sulfur and 3% salicylic acid. Omg, the improvement I've seen within 2 weeks of this stuff is insane. Sulfur is anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory; salicylic acid is a chemical exfoliant. This stuff is destroying my chestne and backne, without destroying my skin or taking 3000 years to work!
I would suggest not using it too often at first -- like Stridex or other salicylic acid products, it can dry your skin out if you suddenly start using it 3x a day. Start with once a day or once every other day.
There's several products in the amlactin line, you can get it in stores, but here is one example (of many) on amazon and apparently it has lactic acid, btw.
Neutrogena hand cream stuff
This is the one I use.
Sulphur Soap - Premium 10% Sulfur Advanced Wash for Acne. Natural Fresh Scent. Fragrance Free. Acne, Body Odor, Dermatitis, Demodex, Itchy Skin, Skin Mites, Rosacea, Eczema, Demodex Mites, Psoriasis. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CST4AS4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_tChvDb4NGHP8C
I'm a nurse and wash my hands a billion times a day with harsh soaps and alcohol-based sanitizer foam. I would get terrible eczema and my hands would crack and bleed. I had one finger that was permanently itchy, dry, and cracked for at least a year. I swear by this stuff: https://www.amazon.com/Eucerin-Eczema-Relief-Creme-Ounce/dp/B00DEXA0LY It's really thick and rich, but it has essentially healed my hand eczema. I use it at least every night before I go to sleep and sometimes during the day if my hands are feeling extra dry due to the weather and whatnot.
This one.

From the pics, it seems like the bite marks are still somewhat swollen. I suggest you avoid any harsh ingredients in your body wash (if there’s any) and avoid any kind of exfoliation. For now, you should try applying some aloe vera gel. Check if you’re allergic though.
After all the redness and swollen calm down, you can start using AHAs for the pigmentation (something like Alpha Hydrox’s 12% Glycolic lotion) + sunscreen when you go out. It should help fade the dark spots.
Make sure you have no open scar before you start using AHA.
Wait, so this is a toner?? Ahhhhh!! Yeah I luckily have always applied moisturizer after, but that makes so much sense! And I have the same skin irritation problems. Looks like I need to follow your blog because it sounds like we're skin sisters!
Im not sure on the % but Cerave has a SA bodywash that you could try:
https://www.amazon.com/CeraVe-Salicylic-Ounce-Fragrance-Exfoliate/dp/B077TWXCQV/
And also a SA body lotion:
https://www.amazon.com/CeraVe-Renewing-Cream-Salicylic-Moisturizer/dp/B00D7BZNT2/
For my pre-shave beard wash at the sink, I really like Musgo Real Glyce Lime Oil soap (MR GLO).
I don't use a brush or razor stand: brush stands on base of handle, razor on its side, both out in the open to dry.
Balms are not my thing, but Weleda is pretty good, traditional balms are nice but can be expensive, or you can make your own.
Jojoba oil can be found in the cosmetics section of drugstores or at stores like Whole Foods or on-line.
i'm an amazon addict so i'm going to link to them: 1) http://www.amazon.com/Diaper-Rash-Cream-Zinc-Oxide/dp/B000056J64/ 2) http://www.amazon.com/Desert-Essence-Organic-Jojoba-4-Ounce/dp/B0000C0XL8/ 3) http://www.amazon.com/Cetaphil-16-Gentle-Skin-Cleanser/dp/B000FFT8KS/ and i also now use this once a week: http://elenarubin.com/collections/shop/products/veritas
I got it from Amazon, but a good drug store might carry it.
There were a couple things that helped fixed my moisture barrier: First using a gentle pH balanced non-striping/drying cleanser. I use the La Roche Posay Toleraine Purifying Foaming Cleanser at night. I used raw honey to wash in the morning. I don't think I used a toner at the time, but if you want to I think a hydrating one would work better than an astringent one for healing skin. After cleansing, I moisturized with [grapeseed oil] (https://www.amazon.com/NOW-Grape-Seed-Oil-16-Ounce/dp/B000RZPVV6) and sealed it in with layer of Badger Unscented SPF 30 Sunscreen. I know this is a sunscreen, but it helped so much with calming redness and cysts I had at the time. I believe it was the zinc oxide that helped heal (zinc is great for skin--look it up!). I still use it to this day! I cut out all actives, and even clay masks (I was using aztec clay mask with avc and it seemed to dry out my skin and make matters worse). My routine was simplified like this for around 2 months I believe before my moisture barrier was healed. After that period I introduced more products/actives :)
Whew sorry for the long post!
I would recommend adding an oil to your nighttime routine!
Most health food stores will carry food-grade oils like this, or you can get an oil blend as a skincare product like this!
Some ideas of oils that work for dry skin: almond seed oil, passion fruit oil, jojoba oil, hemp seed oil
Could also patch test and try: coconut oil, olive oil
I use Rosehip Seed Oil and it does the trick but I have oily skin. I also only use it every once in awhile when I feel like I need it! It doesn't smell like roses or anything (sadly) ;D
I've heard good things about pure grapeseed oil
http://www.amazon.com/Now-Foods-Grape-Seed-Ounce/dp/B000RZPVV6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1335806419&sr=8-1
I'm still working through some cocoa butter baby oil, and apricot oil is a good cheap alternative to jojoba as well.
Kudos to /u/girlseekstribe for glamming me an HG :)
I use lanolin (this brand) mixed with a bit of raw honey, in about a 2-1 ratio of lanolin to honey. I just put as much as I need in my palm and mix it right there, so I don't know if you can mix up a batch or anything. Works like an absolute charm, every single time. The longer you can keep it on, the better!
It's a kind of expensive (for me at least) but this stuff is amazing. It's very thick and moisturizing similar to petroleum jelly.

I bought the different oils separately and put it in an amber dropper bottle. I mixed the argan oil, jojoba oil, and lemongrass oil in a 20:20:1 ratio. The lemongrass is more of just a scent than a functional oil (it's very strong), so you might replace it with some other aromatic oil like tea tree, eucalyptus, or cinnamon oil depending on your SOs preference. I hope you and your SO like it! You might google around for other recipes, but argan and jojoba will make up the bulk of most recipes.
edit: and this is the brush I got, it works great
Rave: Eucerin Original Healing Rich Creme
I picked this up a while ago after seeing in Simple Skincare Science's list of fungal acne-safe products. I don't know that I actually have FA, but my skin has improved a lot since switching to "safe" products. This is a very thick, occlusive moisturizer with only a few ingredients (Water, Petrolatum, Mineral Oil, Ceresin, Lanolin Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Piroctone Olamine). It feels incredibly thick and sticky when I first apply it, but quickly warms up and gets a bit oily so it's pretty easy to spread. I use it at night as an occlusive layer on top of my other serums and moisturizers. I love how it really seems to stick to my skin and doesn't rub off on my pillow during the night. The weather has recently turned cold in the northeast US, and I've noticed that this has really been helping my dry skin retain moisture during the night.
No, not the hand cream. It comes in both a tube and "tub" container.https://www.amazon.com/Eucerin-Original-Healing-Rich-Creme/dp/B001FB5IIC
I've tried Mad Hippie but stopped it because it pilled no matter how I tried to use it. I hope it'll work for you.
> What have you used on your seb derm?
EVERYTHING. Lol Basically, any lotion/topical I found that mentioned seb derm, I tried it. The dermatologist gave me prescription strength hydrocortisone and had me use that with an OTC anti-fungal. I've tried cleansing with sea salt, honey masks, etc. Everything would work awesomely for a week, and then the bumps would start forming again.
With everything I've read, the most recommended ingredients were zinc oxide, salicylic acid, and sulfur. My skin has actually been looking pretty good for a week or so now (knock on wood), so I'm sticking with my current routine of:
AM
PM
I did just get a silver serum, which I ordered from overseas prior to my skin starting to calm with the current routine. If things start going south again, I'm going to give that a try.
http://www.amazon.com/Cetaphil-Restoraderm-Restoring-Moisturizer-10-Fluid/dp/B003TQU1Q0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1334693074&sr=8-1
I have eczema, my doctor recommends Vanicream or Cetaphil. That said, you should talk to a doctor/dermatologist to make sure it isn't something else. That, and if it is eczema, he or she could prescribe something a bit stronger to help with it. For example, I still use Triamcinolone cream even with the aforementioned lotions.
I get exactly the same thing, dermatitis from gi rubbing against my skin. I used to get it back in high school from playing sports with pads, too. It's embarrassing and it itches like hell, plus you don't want open abrasions while training.
Doing these 3 things has stopped me from getting the rash completely. Hope they work for you too.
You might be interested in pure argan oil. I use Pura d'or argan oil when my face/hands/hair are extra dry. It's unscented (and 1-2 drops is plenty or you'll end up greasy).
I shampoo my hair, put conditioner in it, and put my hair up. While the conditioner is sitting, I wash all of my body except my back. I rinse my hair again and put it up once more. Then I use a back brush and some magical acne soap to clean my back. This helps a lot.
I'm super acne prone though, so I also regularly disinfect my sheets and sports bras with this stuff. Maybe give it a shot if washing your back last doesn't help?
It sounds a lot like Exfoliative keratolysis, though I recommend consulting a derm to know for sure.
I don't know what other lotions you used, but I've tried working hands and I personally found the texture to be dry and starchy. Treatments for this recommend creams with lactic acid, so Amlactin may be worth a shot. It might be greasier than you want, so try using it before bed and see if that helps.
Also avoiding solvents, harsh cleansers, maybe even heavily fragranced things on your hands could help as well.
I have folliculitis as well - get Amlactin! I call it my magic lotion. My hair follicles are huge and dark and I swear this lotion reduced their appearance. Total skin changer!

You can get Eucerin with 10% urea on Amazon . It helps with the scales and makes me feel a bit better, but it doesn’t stop flare-ups.
I've had success using sulfur soap to stop breakouts on my body. It's worked for my SO as well.
I live in Florida with oily, acne-prone skin. I use mostly AB, but there are some western products that I haven't been able to find better replacements for. Here's my oil-conscious morning routine:
Since this is basically Sulphur soap, does it smell bad after it comes in contact with clothes?
I've been using this sulphur soap for a couple weeks with no improvement, and it made my shirts and pillow cases smell awful.
Other than that, I'm very happy that it has worked for you, and I hope it keeps working!

Also, lay off the body wash and showering with water that is too hot until you start to heal up. Fiery stomach doesn't sound like a normal response to cold weather, though admittedly I'm from CA and don't know anything about actual cold weather so maybe I'm wrong.
Can you recommend any sunscreen that would be good for me? My face is really oily so a lot of sunscreens I've tried just make me look too greasy and others i've tried leave a really white tint on my face.
Are these the correct products you've listed in your earlier post?

As always thank you very much for your time and help!
Tamanu oil definitely fades scars & is cheap. I googled exchange rate & I get it for usd 6.91 for 100mls, idk where to buy it in USD. It doesn't smell like anything when you put it on your skin.
This is really cheap too http://www.amazon.com/Alpha-Hydrox-Lotion-Fluid-Ounce/dp/B00HZJZY6O
I've used about a third of the bottle of this and I can already see a huge difference in my KP.
Since you've already tried a chemical peel, I really think you should patch test any new product, especially acids.

For soaps/creams on Amazon:
Brushes:
Honestly, Amazon is kinda lacking when it comes to quality brushes. There are a ton of really questionable or low quality brushes on Amazon and it can be hard to find a good one unless you have a specific model or brand in mind.
For the money the RazoRock Plissoft brushes are the best "bang for the buck." The $10 or $13 version would both be good. After that, the Stirling Soaps "factory seconds" 26mm brushes are also a great value and use the same style knot.
Ah, if you're on medication right now, you might want to wait for that to take it's course first. I would still recommend CeraVe if your dermatologist ok's it for you, and definitely after you're done with with the cylopel.
This is the face cleanser it's more water based than others so it's gentler on the skin, use a hot moist towel to open your pores, or use it in during a hot shower, massage into your skin and let it sit for a minute before washing it off.
I also recommend this mud mask for spot treatment or an all over mask if need be
New Purchase/Gift: Just got a Pure Body Naturals Dead Sea Mud Mask. I patch tested it and I was fine so I used it the next day. It made my skin feel really smooth after I removed it but I didn't really notice anything else. I'll probably alternate weeks I use it with my Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask.
Hi! I just recovered from dehydrated skin recently and live in Germany too! I find that layering hydrating products and then sealing it with an occlusive cream works best. Perhaps you could try a similar routine to mine like this:

I also suggest installing a water filter if your area has hard water.

Best of luck!
My HG moisturizer during winter is Hado Labo Premium Lotion... the gold one. Actually it's kind of confusing to find so here's a link.
on Amazon UK
I live in the literal desert so for me its not a film its protecting me from insta-dry death :p If you are an oily type, and you said you wanted something for exfoliation? I just looked and CeraVe has this, chemical and everything:
https://www.amazon.com/CeraVe-Body-Rough-Bumpy-Ounce/dp/B077TWXCQV
Seems pretty neat, they have a moisturizer to match too.
I don’t get cysts but I end up with some bacne if I’ve been working out or sweating a bunch. Since I started using this body wash regularly, I’ve been 98% clear. I’m thinking the salicylic acid should help exfoliate some of those red marks away but it may take some time.
Oooooh! I have this amazing problem too! Isn't it the best? :)
The three (four?) things I've found that helped me the most (and trust me I've tried SO MANY) are this Cerave bodywash scrubbed on using this scrubbie, followed after shower/bath with this aftershave and then this lotion after you give the aftershave time to air dry. I can also tell you that I've used that Buf Puf for probably a decade now and that alone doesn't do the trick. It wasn't until I got the other 3 products that I noticed a significant difference. Sadly, I started using all 3 at the exact same time, so I'm not sure which of the 3 are most helpful if you wanted to start slow and try one at a time.
I can tell you that shaving cream doesn't do anything for me in helping to prevent. And I've tried this after-shave powder and found it to be nice but not helpful for what I need. I sweat too much for a light powder to help with anything!
Edit: Just a side note - that Cerave lotion burns when you apply it right after shaving. I still do it and the burning stops after a second, but wanted to give fair warning!
Jojoba oil.
I bought mine from my local Wegmans, but it's similar to this one.
I'd drop shampoo altogether, use conditioner. Massage your scalp gently but thoroughly with your finger tips. If your hair is long, be sure to gently smooth the conditioner through it. As for your skin, try different body washes. I like: http://www.amazon.com/Body-Shop-Tea-Tree-Wash/dp/B002K8W1UC/ref=sr_1_26?ie=UTF8&qid=1319231490&sr=8-26 and http://www.amazon.com/Body-Shop-Clearing-Facial-Regular/dp/B002K8W58K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1319231477&sr=8-1 . Look up the ingredients, they're pretty good. After you shower toss on some of this, http://www.amazon.com/Desert-Essence-Organic-Jojoba-4-Ounce/dp/B0000C0XL8/ref=sr_1_1?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1319231537&sr=1-1 . BarefootNick is also right, drink a lot of water. The less chemicals you toss in your body the better off you are. Good luck bud.
Edit: Also remember, everyone is different. What may help Derp may not help Derpina.
Jojoba oil is really nice.

Doesn't clog the bores, not too greasy. (It's recommended on acne.org often to mix with moisturizers)
This
My daughter had a patch on her elbow that nothing helped. I started using aveeno eczema creme and Queen Helene Cocoa butter mixed together. It went from 2 months of weepy and painful to finally starting to heal. I put this mix on her 3-4 times a day after I would wash the area with a mild soap. At night I add a few drops of food grade Grape seed oil to the mix for added moisture. Every couple of days I'd lightly exfoliate it to get the dead skin off.
You look like you have some healing but some build up of dead skin too. It is hard to tell. Since the eczema is happening on your hands you may need to make a small bottle of the mix then carry it with you. Apply liberally every time you was and dry your hands. Please read all ingredients for any previously known allergies 1st. Also patch test all the products individually, and then mixed together. Do this in an area that does not have an eczema breakout on it. While none of these products tend toward allergies; we are eczema patients and we seem to have a higher likelihood of random allergies.
Lubricate! I used Jojoba oil when I stretched, but I'd recommend this now. It's inexpensive and lasts forever. I use it to oil my lobes now. Massage your lobes with it, hot shower or heating pad/hot washcloth beforehand will help too.
It's better to wear surgical grade stainless steel plugs/tunnels when stretching and while your ears are healing because other materials (like acrylic) tend to be porous and can harbour infection.
Take your time, or you'll end up with either a blow out or thin/uneven lobes that can even rip apart if you're that stupid. Seriously, don't force it. Stretching with weights can also cause the latter. If you bleed, you went too quickly.
In the beginning you can use cheap acrylic tapers off ebay or something. Don't wear them, just use them for stretching to get that size plug in. However, if your ear is being stubborn, you can always go part way and wait a day while wearing the taper, then finish the next day.
As soon as you can, generally once the jewelry is large enough, you should start taping instead of using tapers. It is safer, more gradual, and a hell of a lot easier. You can do this with bondage tape, which is non-adhesive (important!) yet sticks to itself. You can cut it to size, wrapping a layer around your plug at a time slowly and continually to size up.
Some more info can be found on BME Encyclopedia because I'm tired now.
I use this one cause it's cold pressed and in a dark glass bottle, and conveniently at the store down the street from me. I think the Now brand one is popular too. Or the GoW one is probably good.
yes the jackblack is like a combo of oil and silicone conditioner. i have never used it so i cant vouch for it. it has peperment which i like in some of the oils ive tried but it can irritate some people.
if you want to try just a straight one oil shave i like sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, or grape seed oil. I like to combine the three but you can use any of them individually.
I get them in the health food and natural vitamin section of H.E.B. which is my local grocery store.
lanolin could work, you can find a lot on Amazon. Mineral oil has occlusive properties and could be an option. Something beeswax based like Egyptian Magic would work too.
My dermatologist turned me on to pure lanolin. It's a little messy, but it will heal chapped lips VERY quickly! Some pure lanolin has an odor to it. I've purchased this from amazon and it has no odor to it!
Pure USP grade lanolin.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000V70MWS/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?qid=1416982326&sr=8-6&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70
I put it on a few times a day, into month 5 and my lips are perfectly supple and painless, no cracking or crusting whatsoever. It feels so good on my lips, couldn't live without it. I have one tin at home, one in my pocket, and one at work.
If you get the pure medical grade stuff, there's almost no smell or taste. I would personally tend to avoid a hydrocortisone product except as a last resort.
I really like Egyptian Magic Cream. It's kind of like fancy petroleum jelly, but it really evens out my skin tone by morning time. I really swear by this stuff! I also find that 100% argan oil reduces my redness by morning time (I use the now brand). I put both on at night before bed.
Hi neighbor, this is Minnesota checking in!!
I use Egyptian Magic Cream on my lips. It's a "face cream" but I treat it like Vaseline. The stuff is literally magic. I bought it from Costco for much cheaper.
Consider Egyptian Magic, too. It's expensive, but a little goes a long way. It's made from olive oil, bees wax, honey, bee pollen, royal jelly & propolis extract, has virtually no scent (I smell a little of the olive oil and the royal jelly but it's mild and pleasant) and is just downright good for you.
In addition to all the bizarre Dr Bronner's style writing on it, this stuff is good for everything. Of course as a moisturizer, but it also makes an amazing deep conditioning treatment for hair (I recommend an apple cider vinegar rinse), tames flyaways with just a tiny bit, stops razorburn dead, is amazing on minor burns for both pain relief and accelerating healing, is great for tattoos... I could go on and on.
I'm a big fan of Egyptian Magic. I layer this on after Retin-A and it keeps away the flakeys, and it doesn't break me out. It feels like layering on a thick, less messy oil.

Squalane oil is something that our skin produces and makes up 13% of your natural sebum.
Since your sebaceous glands are under performing , this will help to regulate follicle construction and stop keratin from clumping around the follicles:
https://www.amazon.com/Squalane-100-Pure-60-mL/dp/B003MJG19K?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_1
Jojoba oil is actually a liquid wax ester that mimics sebum. For the same reasons as I stated above, this will help your KP and prevent TEWL which makes your KP worse.
https://www.amazon.com/Solutions-Organic-Moisturizing-Multi-Purpose-4-Ounce/dp/B0019LTGOU/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=jojoba+oil&qid=1574915492&sprefix=jojoba+&sr=8-4
Since you already have AMlactin, you are good there. Here is my favorite BHA acid Body scrub.

And these shower gloves for exfoliation are the best I’ve tried. They don’t require too much pressure and they de-cap existing keratin plugs effectively:
https://www.amazon.com/Clean-Logic-Exfoliating-Bath-Gloves/dp/B00GMP5VW4/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=cleanlogic+gloves&qid=1574915581&sprefix=clean+logic+glov&sr=8-3
Which AMlactin are you using? The one with the green pump?
Also, do you need me to go over the routine with you or do you think you got it from here based off my original post?
This Eucerin or This Aquaphor.
It looks like they sell it in tubes too, but I just buy the tubs. I don't notice a difference between the two brands, to be honest. I use it almost every day and a tub lasts me like 6 months.
I have eczema and rosacea on my cheeks. My dermatologist gave me several samples of Cetaphil Restoraderm Calming Moisturizer for my eczema. It worked really well and I ended up buying the 10 oz bottle.
Also, I don't know what you use to wash your face with, but I was given samples of Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser and CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser and they have helped me tremendously with acne/eczema.
I have never seen it in a brick and mortar store, but Cetaphil Restoraderm is the best lotion I've ever used, with CeraVe being a distant second. Had eczema my whole life and didn't discover it until a few years ago when a dermatologist mentioned it to me.
My favorite moisturizer is Cetaphil Restoraderm. I guess it's actually a body lotion but I patch tested it and didn't break out. I love it. The tiniest bit goes a long way. It's super hydrating without feeling really greasy, and leaves my skin so calm and supple. It's marketed for eczema or dermatitis prone skin, so I guess that's why it's so moisturizing.
edit: words
I'm still patch testing, but if you like Cetaphil, the Cetaphil Restoraderm Eczema Calming Body Moisturizer has niacinamide and ceramides (as a ceramide precursor, Hydroxypalmitoyl sphinganine)
Edit: note that the ingredient list typed out on amazon is inaccurate, the version in the product pictures is correct. Cosdna here
I use Cetaphil Restoraderm Skin Restoring Moisturizer. It's the first product that didn't make my skin flakey after application. Just be aware that it can make your skin look a bit shiny but it's better than most products out there.
First of all welcome! Here is the largest collection of cat memes in the universe! After you get done looking at all those awesome cats this item might help. Shea butter is awesome so I think it would be good in handmade soap. You said you like Star Wars so here is an adorable item. I love handmade soap.
What about this?
Or this?
I need this because I want to learn to make chap stick and it is also good in hand lotion. Or even this Either one .

So I can make some soaps!
Thank you!
Bummer. Everything never works for everyone. : (
I got mine from this seller on Amazon. I'm only directly linking to the seller because it was legitimate shea butter. Lots of people get it off GoW, too.
The EltaMD Intense is the non-sticky, almost melty version of Vaseline. I don't find it makes my skin shiny whatsoever, especially when it sinks in. But if you put too much on, then yeah, you'll get a shine.
People who don't like Cerave tend to like Cetaphil or Vanicream. But I believe their creams/lotions are slightly greasier. That's the trade off. But worth a shot.
Happy birthday!
Shea butter beauty treatments are the best.
I'm on a low buy for a while, so I've been focusing more on skincare than on makeup:
i am a male and i use to have very similar problems like you around my cheek areas. I literally tried every moisturizer i could to see if anything helped. I started using oil cleansing with almond oil which softened up the problem but my skin would still crack up. Through trial and research i have managed to control dermatitis for now. I have replaced my daily moisturizer with a mixture of argan oil and aloe vera gel. I use this twice a day(morning after i wake up and night after dinner). The good thing is that i don't even feel the mixture on my skin and it has helped soothing my skin immensly. I am not sure if it will work for u but u can give it a try. You can use any aloe vera gel and argan oil u wish but make sure they are good quality. I personally use this two:
https://www.amazon.com/Amara-Organics-Aloe-Organic-Pressed/dp/B00WRN3TBU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1487034533&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=aloe+vera+gel&psc=1

The key is to constantly moisturize and use products that would work well on thin hair. Using an argan oil like this one from Amazon would certainly help. At the same time, sea salt sprays, thickening shampoos and certain pomades would suit you very well. I compiled a list of them here. Hope it helps!
Ha! Here is my routine:
AM:
PM:
I sometimes use tea tree oil on zits, or Tretin 0.1%. I also use Kiehl's Clay mask once in a while.
There you go! Comments welcome :)
Argan oil
This is the original amazon page: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004Z209HS/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I paid $36, and I'm willing to take $20. It's been used twice so it's still mostly full and in its original bag and all. Let me know if you're interested.
Do you wear a watch or other jewelry? Could be an allergic reaction to a particular type of metal.
Try http://www.amazon.com/Noble-Formula-Pyrithione-Mango-Butter/dp/B00606RORK/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1427468249&sr=8-5&keywords=zinc+soap too. Yeah it's 13 bucks a bar, but it lasts a long time and it has been miraculous for minor psoriasis and skin irritations for me. It also cleared up my face acne in 2 days and has kept it clear long term. I've had maybe 3 total break outs since I began using it about 6 months ago, when I used to have moderate acne on a weekly basis.
I'm not sure if I have deficiency, doubt it, but I've been using this pyrithione zinc bar per my pocketderm dermatologist recommendation. So far I'm really liking it, it has helped with my redness and leaves my skin nice and soft!
I get this too, I use Sal3 soap in the shower and Salicylic acid cream it helps alot.
Seriously though, that soap is amazing, helped with my plaque psoriasis and eczema issues that I get.
Does anyone have experience with sal3 sulfur soap? (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00685KUGA/ref=mp_s_a_1_8_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1469417239&sr=8-8&keywords=salicylic+acid) It has sulfur and BHA in it which are suppose to help with acne, so I'm thinking of trying it out, should I be at all cautious of it?
There are quite a few options. I've used 3: Alpha Hydrox 10% Lotion, MUAC Glycolic Acid Body Lotion and Amlactin.
Amlactin is sticky and didn't feel good on my skin at all. I didn't use it long enough to really gauge it's effectiveness. I just couldn't stand that tacky/sticky feeling.
MUAC Glycolic Acid Body lotion works amazing on my PIH. I've been dealing with compulsive picking for years on mostly my arms and this has been the best product I've ever used for healing PIH and redness by far. The downside is it's not very moisturizing so if you have dry skin you'll likely need something else to go along with it. I also have to use quite a bit to get good coverage because it doesn't spread all that well. So while it isn't too expensive per oz I run out of it fairly quickly.
Alpha Hydrox 10% Lotion is what I would recommend to most people. It's more moisturizing than MUAC's lotion and soaks in quickly. It never feels greasy or sticky. It also spreads better than MUAC and I don't have to use as much. The downsides are it's not as good for PIH and it causes some clogged pores for me (which can be a big problem with my skin picking habits).
I didn't notice the smell /u/Khokhmah described in any of the lotions.
Do you mean this one?
Ive started using whipped shea butter with tea tree oil and it's worked wonders for my acne. Shea butter is extremely moisturizing and has a comedogenic rating of 0, meaning it does not clog pores. The tea tree oil is a great additive due to it's anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties which helps clear and prevent acne. You can add other good stuff to it as well like rose oil or vitamin E.
First I mix the shea butter with my regular hand mixer until its smooth and fluffy. Then I measure about 6oz of the whip and add in 10mL of 100% tea tree oil (about 1 little bottle). I only use this at night as it doesn't fare well under foundation.
During the day I use Gold Bond Strength & Resilience. It doesn't 'eradicate' pimples but it makes my skin smoother and keeps me moisturized without being hella oily.
For my severe breakouts I use 50/50 AmLactin and benzoyl peroxide cream as an overnight treatment. I dont recommend this because the benzoyl peroxide has the potential to exacerbate acne scars
I also over exfoliated my forehead and now I'm looking to rehydrate... Is this the moisturiser ?
This moisturizer from Eucerin is rec-ed on here a lot for eczema.
Exfoliating dry/normal skin with KP? Moisturizer rec for KP?
I have dry skin on my arms and dry/normal skin on my legs with KP that I want to minimize the appearance of. I read on this wiki advice which recommended this lotion and physical exfoliation on the non-facial skin.
Can/should I use a chemical exfoliate for KP? Are there any other moisturizer recs? So far i've been using this moisturizer for anywhere that isn't my face after showers.
For dry skin, two very important ingredients are urea and ceramides.
This Eucerin hand cream has 5% urea and ceramides: https://www.amazon.com/Eucerin-Advanced-Repair-Creme-Ounce/dp/B076FYJXGN/ref=sr_1_3
If your hands feel severely dry, get a 10% urea cream.
Eucerin: https://www.amazon.com/Eucerin-Skin-Intensive-Treatment-Lotion/dp/B0098YQH2O/ref=sr_1_4
Sebamed: https://www.amazon.com/Sebamed-Extreme-Skin-Repair-Lotion/dp/B071W2LQXS/ref=sr_1_14
I am indeed using the neutrogena body wash 😓. I’ll look into the urea lotion because it seems like your problem was the exact same as mine. Thank you so much for the suggestion, it’s very much appreciated!
Would this one work? https://www.amazon.com/Eucerin-Skin-Intensive-Treatment-Lotion/dp/B0098YQH2O
As a fellow KP sufferer, Eucerin makes a cream with urea that's been the best thing for my KP from the Gold Bond rough and bumpy, AmLactin, and many other lotions. I've only ever found it online though.
Ah ok, that cleanser has SLES which is quite mild. Since you're not having problems with your skin drying out, I don't see why you should switch to another!
In general cleansers don't do much since you rinse them down the drain, so I would say using a good moisturiser is way more important!
CeraVe products are highly recommended, such as [this] (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B001V9SXXU/ref=mp_s_a_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1480714372&sr=8-3&keywords=cerave+moisturiser&pi=SY200_QL40) one. [Eucerin] (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0098YQH2O/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1480714592&sr=8-1&keywords=eucerin+body+lotion&pi=SY200_QL40) is highly rated also. For less pricey options there's [E45] (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B001RYSEVK/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1480714666&sr=8-1&keywords=e45+body+lotion&pi=SY200_QL40) and [Aveeno] (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B003H2GGZQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1480714703&sr=8-1&keywords=aveeno+body+lotion&pi=SY200_QL40). I would recommend trying one of the cheaper ones first, and if your KP doesn't subside then try the one of the first three.
Hope this helps!
If your skin hasn't responded to antibiotics, it's possible you're dealing with Malassezia Folliculitis (fungal "acne"). This guide https://simpleskincarescience.com/pityrosporum-folliculitis-treatment-malassezia-cure/ helped me clear my skin in about two months after spending five years dealing with pimples that wouldn't respond to typical acne treatments.
Of course, YMMV, but my current routine is nothing in the AM, PM shower using Head and Shoulders on hair/body (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MXLFQGB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1), Pantene on hair (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MTNOJ2Z/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1), and sulfur soap on my face (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CST4AS4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). Right after shower, I slap on some aloe vera gel (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IRAFRQW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) followed by MSM gel (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000O379PC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and then Cerave Baby Cream (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WH31P7A/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1). Twice a week I put Nizoral (https://www.amazon.com/Nizoral-Anti-Dandruff-Shampoo-Ketoconazole-Dandruff/dp/B00AINMFAC/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=nizoral&qid=1566134798&s=gateway&sr=8-3) on my face and let it sit for 3-5 minutes and then wash it off. I've run this full routine by a licensed dermatologist who told me the sulfur and Nizoral would do the heavy lifting to keep the Malassezia at bay, and as far as I can tell those two items are the keystones of this routine. Everything else I use because the sulfur and Nizoral can be very drying. All of those products I pulled from that skincare blog, so I would read through it and see if the skin condition addressed there matches what you're experiencing.
Good luck. This is the routine that made my skin do a complete 180 in February after I saw no improvement from derm prescribed antibiotics and benzoyl peroxide.
Ideally you would want one of the maximum strength varieties, but any variety will work. Really lather it up on a loofa and scrub hard all over your body. If you can talk to a dermatologist you should look into getting a sulfur soap too... if not, give this one a shot: http://www.amazon.com/Sulphur-Soap-Premium-Sulfur-Advanced/dp/B00CST4AS4
Woops sorry, I meant Eucerin Baby Eczema Body Cream
And the adult version, which only differs in packaging
I only really used it once, but it was ok. I started using Eucerin Eczema Relief creme for my bad areas (chin, mainly). The first time I tried it, it was like heaven for my skin. I need multiple applications for the itch to go away for the most part, but it's pretty much the only thing that's given my chin itch relief lately.
For a good value, this is a pretty good deal. That 5.25oz puck of hard milled soap will last forever.
Sorry, the soap.

Same routine, except once my face is dry and right before bed, I will apply Claire-ity Skincare 25% Vitamin C Serum with Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin E to the areas on my face with acne scars. Mostly on my cheeks, a few on my forehead, and some on my chin.
Occasionally (weekly) before the evening routine, I'll use either of these masks. I like them both:
Pure Body Naturals Dead Sea Mud Mask
LUSH Mask of Magnaminty
A few notes:
I don't wear makeup and I will add extra sunscreen when I exercise, which is about 5 days a week. I mostly use something like this Neutrogena Clear Face Liquid Lotion Sunscreen For Acne-Prone Skin for my face.
This one makes my pores look small
I think the one I had bought a while ago does in the ingredient list . It's this one
I'm a gender-queer guy and I've been trying to make my overall appearance more feminine for the past several months. In general, I'm aiming more for androgynous than blatantly feminine (think women's sneakers and jeans more than heels and dresses), and along those same lines, I'm not really interested in makeup (I don't think) but would like to find a skincare routine that makes my face look as feminine and femininely-pretty as possible.
I have normal skin, maybe slightly oily but I almost never get zits anymore (I'm 31),
My routine right now:
Overall, I've surprisingly been pretty happy with this routine so far, but this has been one of those processes where the more I've learned the more I've realized I don't know, which is what brought me here.
I (thankfully) don't have any notable problems I need to address (dryness, oiliness, etc), but I feel like my skin is a little dull and I want to make it more glowy/luminous/radiant, and basically make it "pop" and say "feminine" a little louder.
What additions or changes to my routine might take me the farthest in that direction? In particular, I'm almost out of moisturizer and want to try a different one (the one I have makes my face a tad oily), and I think I want to add a serum and/or night creme - but I'll be (very, very) receptive to whatever suggestions SCA might have for me.
I'm a huge fan of the Dead Sea Mud mask. It's great for combo/oily skin. As for lips, Laneige came out with this cool sleeping lip mask.
I'm not sure what products you've tried, but I use this dead sea mud mask (purchased on Amazon) and it is soooooooo amazing at removing blackheads, esp the ones on my nose! I've used the pore strips and other products and nothing came anywhere close to how well this stuff works!
what is the difference between these two ( 1, 2 ) products? which one is usable as a toner? i keep getting recommended this product but cannot see a difference :(
found the white and the premium lotion on amazon

thank you for your input, what exactly is" A humectant such as Hada Labo premium" ?
I use the Hada Labo lotion as a toner and apply it to damp skin before moisturizer (do not rinse it off). It helps your skin to retain moisture and I think it makes a difference.
Oil doesn't damage skin, and sometimes oily skin is a sign that your skin is lacking moisture and is producing more oil as a response. I use the Ordinary squalane! Oil should be applied as a last step or mixed in with your moisturizer.
-pixi nourshing balm oil cleanser Take off with warm baby wash cloth (microfiber, 10 pk $5 walmart)
-dr Dennis gross alpha beta exfoliating moisturizer a wonderful emollient moisturizer that wakes you up with brand new skin, think of it as a more moisturizer DE frambroos, that you can use on the days you don’t use DE frambroos to get moisture and exfoliating and plumping properties. It’s wonderful.
things to have in your arsenol
That’s all I’ve got. Obviously this is not a go out and buy all these products at once, but I do believe that every single product on this list would help your skin. The major ones being tarte knockout treatment, sand and sky mask, la Roche posay toleraine purifying foaming face wash, pixi nourshing cleansing balm, botanicals 3-1 micellar water, cosrx snail mucin, dr jart ceramidin serum, and the dr Dennis gross exfoliating lotion. Frambroos is magical too. Gosh. Just everything here. But those specifically are my hard hitters. If I had to go buy something right now to try and see results, it’d be tarte knockout tingling treatment. The results on resurfacing are amazing. Buy that and jojoba oil, it’s moisturizing, just pat it in. Cera Ve makes a big difference in occluding your products and really making them soak the fuck in,.
I say this because I had skin just like yours about 3 months ago and I wasted my money on all these “HG” products everyone talked about, and they were pure shit. Find what YOUR skin likes girl,. And don’t go balls out all at once. Try one thing and see how your skin reacts, then start introducing like products. Don’t be afraid to return products to CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Sephora, Ulta. EVERYWHERE. Keep your receipts. Every. Single. One.
I've decided to get more serious in trying to combat by PIH and need some help in formulating a new skincare routine. I usually do my routine every 2 days after I shower and am treating PIH primarily on my chest, back and shoulders. Whatever I plan on using on my face I was also planning on using there too.
My main problem is trying to figure out when to apply a Brooklyn Botany Vitiman C Serum, TO Niacinamide, and Rosehip Oil. My theorized routine is as follows:
-----
CeraVe SA Body Wash
Eucerin In-Shower Body Lotion
Alpha Skin Care Body Lotion, 12% Glycolic AHA
To Ordinary Arbutin
CeraVa Moisturizing Cream (for face, back, shoulder and chest)
Some other generic lotion for everywhere else
Sunscreen
-----
Where should I fit the Serum, Niacinamide and Rosehip Oil, and why? I've been reading that the Serum could come after AHA, but it interferes with Niacinamide, which I have no idea where that would go and why it interferes. I also read that the Rosehip Oil can be mixed with my Moisturizing Cream; just add a few drops.
edit and addition - My current routine is a simple body wash, Alpha Skin Care AHA 10% and some Hydroquinone cream (both on face, shoulder, back and chest), Moisturize then Aloe Vera. My skin type is also pretty normal, it didn't break out or anything when I first ever introduced the AHA, and with age my skin has seemed to become stable; I don't break out very often anymore, just recovering.

I have the same type of eczema on my legs that usually only flares up in the summer... when I actually want to shave! Like /u/fueledbypretzels I've tried all sorts of sensitive skin shaving creams, but they just make my eczema worse. So I just use bar soap, the same that I use for the rest of me, Dove Sensitive Skin Unscented Beauty Bar. I usually get Venus razors that have three blades - nothing fancy. You can get a pretty good lather with the soap, and as long as you have a sharp razor it's fine. Then I follow up with Eucerin Eczema Relief lotion. Kind of a low-tech shaving method, but it works!! If my flare-ups are especially bad I usually skip shaving over them and have weird patches of hair, but I don't really care about that. Otherwise I am just very careful.
