Lemon and Elderflower it can be found on amazon

While it much cheaper to buy the tea leaves and make it yourself, the Joy Luck is good. If you want to brew it yourself, Number One is really number one.

I use this recipe

u/bpostal · 20 pointsr/behindthegifs

Yeah, pretty much the first thing I did when my buddy told me it was on sale at Amazon I had to order a case.

Got the cans instead of the bottles, kinda regret it since it didn't seem the same out of a can; better value though. Also didn't know they had different flavors.

Obligatory /r/HailCorporate because although I've rewritten this twice it still sounds like a fucking ad.

u/rAxxt · 15 pointsr/keto

Ah. Keto and weed, two of my favorite subjects.

I have several methods to keep munchies from ruining keto. The first is to always keep something good to drink nearby. I like zero calorie drinks so I always have COLD water kept in the fridge (tastes so much better chilled and slightly distilled) and I also carbonate my own water so I can do things like make my own orange soda using stuff like Mio flavoring.

But sometimes drinks aren't enough, so I keep things on hand like some pre-boiled eggs, or nuts, or a bit of cheese and avocado. Another thing I've recently discovered is what I lovingly call "rAxxt-cream" -- this is my own keto friendly version of ice cream. I take some MaxPro Vanilla flavor protein powder (from MaxMuscle, not available online -- but any tasty protein powder will probably do) and toss it in the blender with some ice and a bit of half and half or heavy cream...maybe a handful of nuts too, if I'm in the mood. In 5 minutes you will have something very similar to soft serve ice cream. MMmmmmmm

Other keto-friendly snacks: bacon (duh), leftover salad, leftover miracle broccoli, sausage or brats, saurkraut or homemade coleslaw, cheese curds.

The most important thing, however, is I don't keep anything I don't want to be eating in the house. Because if I get the munchies, I guarantee it will be eaten.

Of course, I also just try to use self control, but maybe this will give ppl some ideas for munchie solutions!

Torani sugar free pumpkin pie syrup is amazing!

https://www.amazon.com/Torani®-Pumpkin-Syrup-Sugar-Free/dp/B002TW7438

  1. Make coffee (put ice cubes in it to cool if you want an iced version)
  2. Pour heavy cream into a bowl. I do a half of the amount of coffee if I want it super creamy, or just a quarter if I want more coffee taste.
  3. Pump 2-3 of the Sugar free syrup in with the heavy cream. Whisk them together until bubbly. Taste, add more syrup if needed.
  4. Pour cream mixture in with coffee and stir. Top with cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice.

I think it's better than Starbucks.

Here's how I'm able to keep mine on for about 2 weeks at a time (you read that right!):

  1. Size up an area that will be about 2 inches longer on all sides than the adhesive of the sensor
  2. Clean the site thoroughly with soap and water, allow to FULLY dry
  3. Apply rubbing alcohol to the site, allow to FULLY dry
  4. Apply Skin-Tac to the site, allow to FULLY dry - there will be a sticky residue left behind by this.
  5. Put in the sensor site in the middle of the area.
  6. Take a sheet of Tegaderm and fold it in half. Use scissors to cut a hole in the middle of the sheet that is the size of the transmitter and all the plastic that sticks up. You want the Tegaderm to cover the adhesive of the site and continue onto your skin, where you should have skin-tac applied. This is why you apply skin-tac to an area 2 inches longer than the site itself.
  7. Apply the Tegaderm and press down. Give it about a minute before doing any major movement to allow the tegaderm a chance to really attach to the skin.

Doing this has allowed me, as mentioned to keep a single site in for 2+ weeks, even through showers and daily exercise. I hope it made sense. :)

The curent Medtronic CGM sensors, Enlite, are okay I guess. Way better than the Sof sensors that came before. I still 100% prefer Dexcom to the enlites IMO. The Dexcom takes less calibration, last longer, and seen less fussy with the transmitter placement/tape requirements. Some people really like them though, so YMMV.

Doing a lot of martial art I can't say. I like to put the sensors on my arms, but you could use your torso, thighs etc; where ever you think would be the best place where it wouldn't get hit/disturbed. If the adhesive isn't working for you, you could always try some skin tack, that stuff will keep things from falling off.

People are saying tea, but the red you'll get from that is likely not going to match a Spanish red if it has no caffeine.

Coffee drinkers: Has anyone used a product like Third Wave Water to manage the minerals in the water? I was hoping to try an individual serving before I buy a lot of it.

Addendum: I am not suggesting the water here is bad (quite the contrary). If you look at the product information, you'll see that it adds minerals to water like the coffee shops do, and this enhances the flavors in the coffee. It's just a bougie white lady thing, not essential.

u/potatoaster · 3 pointsr/tea

People use all sorts of tea to make pearl milk tea. I believe the canonical tea is cheap Ceylon, but a lot of places use even cheaper Assam instead. Some people add a second tea, like high-mountain oolong, to add complexity. In HK, they often add ripe pu'er. I've also seen many people recommend Golden Sail lychee black tea and Sunflower jasmine green tea, which are cheap Chinese supermarket brands.

Thai tea is usually Ceylon with condensed milk, food coloring, and often star anise (and sometimes clove, cardamom, vanilla). The leading brand is Number One. That's what your favorite restaurant probably uses. Black sugar PMT was made famous by the Tiger Sugar chain. I've tried it, and tbh I prefer the cleaner flavor of sucrose- or fructose-sweetened PMT.

I don't know how to make cheese foam, but here's my recipe for Taiwanese milk tea:

In 1 c of boiled water, steep 2 teabags of Ceylon for 15 min. Add 1/8 c each sugar and creamer. Chill completely. Shake before serving to improve the texture. Serve with pearls, either the instant ones or homemade ones with tapioca starch and black/red/brown sugar.

  1. Cilio 4 is not a V60. Like u/vailman said, A V60 is a specific pour over cone made by Hario
  2. regarding your meh results, assuming you've dialed your weights/pour technique/water temp, your next step is to check your water hardness.

Quick easy fix is getting distilled water, and add minerals to it... I personally just use a basic (Pür) water filter because it's convenient and simple.

I have a three year old T1 who pumps. Here is what we've learned:

  • Use Skin-Tac when installing an infusion site and it won't come off accidentally

  • Use TacAway to help remove infusion sites and CGM sites

  • Cover the CGM sensor site with IV3000 and it won't get accidentally pulled off

  • After removing a infusion/CGM site first clean it with an alcohol wipe to remove left over adhesive. Then use Neosporin or a thin film of a Zinc Oxide product like Desitin to help heal it

  • For active people, like my 3 year old, SPIbelt is a great product to hold your pump (you can even sleep with it on)

As mentioned in other posts, always have a kit with you. Your kit should contain:

  • Emergency sugar (glucose tab, cake frosting, or juice box)
  • Backup rapid acting insulin (pen or vial/syringe)
  • Glucagon
  • Your BG meter
  • Some kind of ID that you are a T1 diabetic (bracelet, dog-tag, tattoo, or id card in your wallet)

It is also a good idea to keep in your car, office, family, and friends houses an extra infusion kit (wipes, reservoir, infusion set). Train your family and friends on how to test your BG and also administer Glucagon and/or Insulin just in case you aren't coherent.

    Happy pumping!

Mischief Managed! =D (All of this is seriously making me so giddy!)

  1. I know alcohol is banned on RAOA campus, but Butterbeer isn't! Now I don't have to traipse all the way to Rogsmead Village to get my hands on this delicious stuff. I can simply enjoy it by the comfort of my common room fire while I diligently study for my classes. =)

  2. The riddle, without its "hair," is simply a stick. And what is a stick but a weapon for self defense, really? You know what else is great for self defense? Pepper spray. Pepper spray is great for self defense, especially when you're walking around the dark RAOA castle and grounds at night. I mean, the attackers will be expecting a defense spell, but they won't be expecting pepper spray to the eyeballs!

  3. Technically, not the answer, but some think that it is. I sorta think it is. I mean it sits on the same place, serves the same function. I especially love this one- I mean, look at the beautiful color! Perfect for keeping me warm on those chilly winter days at the RAOA castle (on off-uniform days of course ;D ).

  4. Well, according to my school supply list for RAOA School, I'm supposed to have these two items. Luckily for me, they come in a two-for-one price pack, which is great for us students! This is essentially the riddle, as well, so yes, boring, but it's required! ;D

  5. The riddle is, at its essence, a place to store and sometimes transport things. Currently, I am lacking a place to store and transport cupcakes. I'm getting more serious regarding my baking, and I hate it when my cute little cupcakes that I worked so hard on get ruined on the way to my birthday pal's common room. =( This special case would be amazing for storing, transporting, and delivering my nummy cupcakes around the RAOA castle!

  6. The riddle is related to superheroes, yes? Well one of my favorite superheroes is Chell from Portal. She's not a superhero, you say? Well, I beg to differ? I mean seriously, just look at all she went through and what she accomplished. She's a superhero to me, anyway. It would be amazing to wear her super awesome long fall socks underneath my uniform robes! Not only are they just plain awesome, but they'll keep my feet warm around the drafty RAOA castle. =)

And again, thank you sooooo much for this! I'm so excited about all this Potterness!

Like some of the comments have stated, RO water straight out of a unit like this will leech some of the flavors from the coffee upon contact. There's a few ways to get around this. Personally, I use a ZeroWater filter to get the TDS as low as possible (RO wasn't an option in the apartments I have lived in), and then I remineralize the water after I collect it. There's a few ways to do this, but personally (and apparently very unpopularly in this sub) I use the product Third Wave Water. For me, it's just the most convenient thing to do, but you can check their ratio of minerals and buy in bulk for cheaper.

Nice documentation of the ride! Is that Google Glass?

Regarding the cramping, that's one I'd not heard before! Gonna try it. I invested in a case of the Pickle Juice stuff and take a couple with me on long rides. I down a bottle around 40 miles in, BEFORE my legs start complaining. Today, despite the pickle juice, at about 43 miles in, I had to get off and walk for about 5 minutes. I didn't actually cramp, but my legs were right on the edge of cramping. Happened again at about 47 miles, and another short walk got me past it. I was home at 50 miles.

I signed up for a 75 mile ride next Saturday on a new section of toll road that hasn't opened to cars yet, only to be reminded by my buddy that Sunday is the 70 mile Tour de Houston we both signed up for. Argggh.

I'll probably just do 25 of the Saturday ride (it's a 25 mile loop that the 75 milers just repeat 3 times) so I won't blow my chances of a good ride on Sunday.

I'm training up for the MS 150 ride from Houston to Austin next month, which is actually 160 to 180 miles (depending on which start-point you select). This will be my 1st one. My twin brother has done 3. It's time for me to step up.

Hey, OP, thanks for the video! The work you did making it is appreciated.

I'm pre-cooking all of my meals for the week on Sunday. Baked chicken, pan-seared green beans, and baked sweet potato. Have one of these for water, and a (much) smaller one for coffee. Bought a five pound bag of pistachios at Costco for light snacking in between meals. And while I know it's not healthy, it's tradition - a case of Bawls.

I only managed to pull two days of vacation, though... so will only really be able to get ridiculous Tuesday and Wednesday.

Gotta get yourself the real stuff I have a friend in Thailand who had sent me some of this (same exact bag) along with a bunch of curry and other stuff... It's pretty damn good. Steep at 200F for like ~5 minutes, then add milk to your desired milkiness and some ice (or just chill the tea first, a much better option). You may also want to add sugar, because the tea itself is pretty bitter. The dry tea leaves smell like heaven with vanilla all over it, but as you know, the tea doesn't quite taste like that lol

Some Thai tea mixes contain spices. At least this one does.

u/no2cminorop18 · 1 pointr/tea

It often comes with a mix, to which condensed milk is added. I prefer this brand. You can find this in most Asian food markets as well. You'll have to run the tea through a cloth filter (tea sock), but I find that clean cut up pantyhose, or a large silk tea bag works just fine.

I use Third Wave Water packets and add them to distilled water. It's a good way to get consistency, and I like the flavor of what I make vs using my tap water.

Highland Coffee has an amazing Mexican Hot Chocolate but most everywhere else is a disappointment tbh.

Buy this and never settle for crappy hot chocolate again.

Looks like you can buy it on Amazon.com (the US site) here and from looking at the pictures it appears to be manufactured in Glasgow, but an American label is applied, so should be the real deal.

You're right, not sure why you're getting downvoted. AmantisAsoko literally just copied what Wikipedia says which it clearly says may include (which most of the time it doesn't).

I drink Thai Tea all the time. It's extremely easy. I usually get Police Dog brand (what's available at my local asian grocery stores) and add in condensed milk and ice. This is what every Thai restaurant I've ever been to does and what most Thai recipes will tell you.

If you just want something convenient, quite a lot of hot chocolate powder mixes available in shops around me are vegan, so you might have some luck if you go to your local supermarket and start reading nutrition labels!

I see you're in Canada so I'm not sure what's available there, but here are some example 'accidentally vegan' hot chocolates:

http://www.amazon.com/Cadbury-Drinking-Chocolate-9oz-250g/dp/B000MOEUMS

http://shop.coles.com.au/online/national/arkadia-signature-blend-chocolate

But really, like other people have said, when you get down to it it's really just cocoa powder and sugar.

u/__RelevantUsername__ · 1 pointr/mildlyinteresting

Oh yeah I have never seen it in person but I've seen it posted on here and other places online. Supposedly it has some sort of mineral or some shit that makes it "more healthy" or some bullshit. I would probably try it just for kicks some time if it were available and not so expensive. I actually just pulled it up Amazon its called blk and has Fulvic Acid which makes it black. Its 45 bucks for a 24 pack so really not that expensive I guess compared to any other bottled water. The description is
>"Our proprietary blend of fulvic acid (a derivative of plant matter) is mined from an 80 million year old source deep within the earth. Naturally black in color, the formula binds to the molecules of our pure Canadian spring water giving blk its signature black color, with no artificial dyes, coloring, or additives. Fulvic acid is critical in the growth of plant life, helping the transportation and absorption of nutrients. Fulvic acid's small molecular structure allows for the fast absorption of over 77 different trace minerals and elements, powerful electrolytes, and antioxidants. "

It sounds like a bunch of buzzwords and doesn't really have any benefits besides looking cool but I understand with a product like bottled water the need to differentiate is vital especially since its pretty hard to stand out from the crowd with something people can get essentially for free from the tap.

Kind of pricey ($29.08), but you can get 12-bottle packs of Irn Bru from [Amazon] (http://www.amazon.com/Barrs-Originals-Soft-Drinks-Irn-Bru/dp/B00NPWVHAC/ref=sr_1_1?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1449608723&sr=1-1&keywords=irn+bru). I'm a little older and haven't played sports competitively since I got my CGM but i have been using these https://www.amazon.com/TORBOT-GROUP-Skin-Tac-H-Adhesive-Barrier/dp/B000QF81M8 before inserting my cgm and I can consistently get 3 weeks out of mine. Although you may not get that it may help.

Also I know there are some third party sticky things that go over the dexcom as well that have designs. I can't think of the name but those could help as well.

I know all of this is a mute point when you get laid out on the ice or your pad hits it and just rips it out but I think some of these might help.

u/Glenathon · 1 pointr/diabetes

Good question....this is something I battled with early on since acquiring the 'pod.

First off, I use Skin-Tac wipes (after the alcohol wipes) on the site every time. I found that worked VERY well with keeping the tape on...however I still had issues with the 'pod ripping off the tape due to the vigorous movement in tennis.

When the 'pod is on my arm, I use a dress sock with the bottom part cut off (from below the ankle, down). This leaves me with a tube of stretchy material. I slide that around the 'pod on my arm and it works perfectly!

When it's on my waist, I invested in a custom belly wrap from Bands4Life. Kind of expensive, but works great.

u/john-bkk · 1 pointr/tea

If someone wanted to make this at home it wouldn't be that difficult, based on using a powdered tea version. There's a booth beside the food court in my office and one near the local train station that sells it, but then I live in Bangkok.

This is one version of it on Amazon, which would be easy to mix with soft serve ice cream, or even the other box or tub type (I never used Amazon vendors for that, of course, so I'm not recommending any in particular): https://www.amazon.com/Number-One-Original-Thai-Iced/dp/B00712N6II

There are some very affordable burr grinders out there, and it's worth the investment. You'll use it pretty much everyday. Hand grinders can be very cheap, and work great. Hario Skerton is a popular choice (I've seen it around for cheaper, but this is at least what's on amazon). Plenty of options, all varying in price. There's a pretty decent burr grinder from Kona I've used before, which I got for like $20.

But manual grinding can take some time. And if you're like me, and you want some quick coffee in the morning, then it's worth investing in an electric. There are some pretty decent electric burr grinders out there. You really don't have to pay a fortune. Here are a few cheap options:

Capresso Infinity

Bodum Bistro

Baratza Encore

But you can get far snobbier than just grind...

What kind of water are you using? Hopefully filtered, not tap. And definitely not distilled, since you want some of those minerals for flavor. Now, if you want to get even fancier, try using these mineral packets. I think each packet mixes in with 1 gallon of distilled water. I haven't tried it myself (I just use a brita) but I've heard good things. The quality of water makes a huge difference. This was the first "eureka" moment for me, when I moved from tap to filtered.

Next, how are you making your coffee? There are some great, cheap equipment out there. In this sub, here are some pretty cheap and popular choices:

Aeropress

Chemex

Pour-over

French press

We're getting pretty deep in the rabbit hole, right? Not yet! How about measuring the weight of the coffee? Consistency is important. You need the same, proper coffee-to-water ratio for the best cup. You can find people debating over the best scales, some costing hundreds. I'd just get a cheap one if I were you. You can find some decent cheap ones from like $10 to $30. If you want the best bang for your buck, look into American Weigh Scales.

I guess I can mention temperature of water as well. You can get thermometers or even electric kettles with built-in thermometers (like this). I think temperature matters so much more for tea than coffee, but it's something you need to keep in mind for coffee as well.

Here's probably the most important thing, in my opinion: where are you getting your coffee? What is the roast date? Unless you're buying your coffee directly from the roaster, you're probably not buying freshly roasted beans. It makes a world of difference. Try finding a local roaster and getting your beans from them, freshly roasted.

I'm sure there's plenty of other ways you can splurge money on coffee, but I'll let you figure it out!
