Now if ONLY I could buy the adapter that's required!

For less than this!!!

This is the exact screen replacement I used and can confirm through these photos and experience that it works: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WFUQZMK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Edit: Here's the guide I used for disassembly: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Wii+U+GamePad+LCD+Display+Replacement/57152

It's like $28 with prime shipping. Can't go wrong.

I bought my WiiU when it first came out and was hard to find. Last year, my toddler got angry, threw the gamepad and cracked the screen. The replacement was around $30 at the time and it looks SO much better than the original screen. It's so crisp and vibrant compared to the original and I swear it may even be more power efficient over the 6+ year screen tech originally in the gamepad.

So, here are my two tips:

  1. Try to keep the black boarder intact. It's on by an adhesive, easy to crack and the replacement doesn't come with one. It's fine without it, but you will see the boarder to the screen without Nintendo's screen boarder. As you can see in my 3rd picture, the left side is already cracked but it's still worth it to try to transfer it. I believe it's also meant to keep dust out and without it, the screen shifts ever so slightly when touching. If you look at the last picture in the link I sent, you can see how the screen looks without the boarder (you can see the white edges of the screen).
  2. Be careful when taking apart the controller. You have to access the screen from the back which means you have to take apart the entire controller to eventually access the screen. There isn't a work around or easier way, so don't try. Just go slow and be very mindful of the tiny ribbon cables, or it could end badly for you. Ultimately, it's not hard to do, it just takes time because you should move slowly. Also, the Screen replacement should come with the screwdriver you need.
u/Halfazedninja · 16 pointsr/wiiu

I bought this instead. It's been working great for me. When your battery is running low just hit the button on the pack and it plays and charges at the same time. You can put it on the docking station too and it charges both the pack and the game pad.

No. Don't send it to Nintendo. It's such a rip-off.

I had an issue with my Wii U's left analog stick a couple of months ago and I just went and replaced the analog stick myself. It cost me only $16. It's dead simple (and it was my first time opening up a controller).

Here are some links:

Replacement sticks:

Tools:

The instructions to replace the stick (you said you already have it but I'm going to leave it here for some completeness sake):

The replacement of analog sticks will help. It's neither expensive nor requires any special skills.
Here:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01H4FDII4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

All you need are Y-shaped screwdriver (amazon suggests those when you browse for the sticks), cross shaped screwdriver and carefulness.

It took about 30-40 minutes for me to replace the left stick.

Upd: fixed the link to point exact sticks I bought (the left one works perfect for me and i didn't replace the right one)

Let's just use amazon prices:

Wii U Deluxe w/ NSMBU & NSLU - $293.87

Wii U Pro COntroller - $40.99

Batman Arkham City: Armored Edition - $15.99

Assassin's Creed 4 - $25.49

Madden 13 - $11.99

Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD - $41.40

007 Legends - $9.95

Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze - $43.99

Black Ops 2 $12.49

ZombiU - $14.99

That brings us to a total of $576.42.

He could have bought the games on discount from Toys R Us which has many discounted games plus buy one get one 60% off.

Also could have gotten the buy 2 get 1 free at Target a week ago. YOu could also price match that sale, all though many stores were hesitant to do that.

If you need to go cheap this one is OK. The same Chinese controller is sold by a dozen different brands. Just keep your expectations in line with the price. Spawnwave did a teardown and review of this controller if you want to take a look.

I have a couple I use as guest controllers.

u/feclar · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitchDeals

Been thinking to get a pro controller
They are 59.99 on amazon

But also saw a review for EEEKit controller and they are 23.97 or 2 for 45.97

Maybe someone will have a deal for Pro Controllers for 49$ or something for black friday

I have one of these. It's a LOT cheaper, and it should give you more battery life than the high-capacity battery, to boot: http://www.amazon.com/Uboost-Wii-U-Nintendo/dp/B009Q5XGO2

Plus, you can use it to keep your screen brightness on max without being plugged in.

u/ElfinPrincessMarlene · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

u/Mindflizzle · 2 pointsr/MonsterHunter

No no no no dudes, that's a placeholder date.

You're right that it's the last day of Q1, but that's the exact reason why Amazon gives that date because the official date hasn't been announced yet.

Look at Story of Seasons, Bayonetta 2 or Xenoblade X. The year they'll be released is known but since they don't have an official date, they are listed as December 31. This is the case with MH4U. They know that it'll be released Q1, 2015 hence they set the date on the final day of Q1 just to be safe.

u/SllepsCigam · 2 pointsr/mechmarket

Thanks man! Much appreciated.

I picked it up at Meijer but Amazon has them as well.

You should buy either the 4 port mayflash or the official wii u gamecube to usb adapter. Both of these make dolphin feel just like the gamecube in terms of controller inputs.

4 port mayflash: https://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-GameCube-Controller-Adapter-Port/dp/B00RSXRLUE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1487737578&sr=8-1&keywords=4+port+mayflash

Yup Nintendo site I bought the Splatoon Special Edition. There's a gamepad protector that you could buy separately, but the special edition had nothing special about the console itself :(

u/Donnie__dorko · 2 pointsr/wiiu

You can get a GamePad - to USB charging cable for $5.80. I know you said that you're broke, but if you don't have $6, maybe video games shouldn't be your priority right now.

u/arc101 · 2 pointsr/wiiu

I use this:

HORI Splatoon Protector for Nintendo Wii U https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Y0CIZW4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_DL9ywbCGXK7KY

I'll probably switch to this pretty soon:

HORI Retro Mario GamePad Protector and Stylus Set - Nintendo Wii U https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZUNOXJQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_cM9ywbPD96V0R

u/master0fdisaster1 · 2 pointsr/DolphinEmulator

This is the offical one from Nintendo. And this is Mayflash's version of the same product. Both should perform as good as the other in Dolphin.

Mayflash's version has a PC mode though, where you can use you GC controller as a generic input device. Plus it's jus a third of the price. Then again Nintendo products are known for their resilience.

IMO Mayflash's has a better price-performance ratio. I would buy that one.

Went to check which one I got when I got the Zelda Wii U.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009UONG26/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Although it seems pretty scarce now. It was exactly what I wanted when I ordered.

It only adds a little bulk, but about 6 months ago I took it off and have really enjoyed using it without the case.

The decals still haven't shown any wear even since playing bare, though I do put it on when children are playing !

u/Marzydextrose · 2 pointsr/wiiu

I was about to come here and say it's currently $49.99 on Amazon. I got mine this morning and it looks like it's still available. Free shipping with Prime too, which you can try for free.

I guess? It's the one that doesn't come with the game, so yes, it's probably the stand alone one. :)

This one.

I am not sure why the Japanese accessories are cheaper on Amazon... but I'm glad there's no region-lock on controllers!

Official Japanese GC Connection Tap - ~$35

Japanese Wii U PRO controller - ~$45

Refurb Wii Motion Plus and Nunchuck -~$25

u/2percent_wilk · 1 pointr/nintendo

They're listed on Amazon but they're not up for order yet.

Zelda, Link, Link Rider, Bokoblin, and Guardian

u/QuaintYoungMale · 1 pointr/wiiu

Ha, well remembered.

So basically the seller of the Japanese packaged Hori protector cancelled my order cause it was sold out. So then I went and bought This other Hori brand one and basically it was crap, a real pain to apply and didn't have the clever mechanism that the 3ds hori brand one has. Would not recommend.

So in the end I bought this one off eBay which gave me 3 for £2.50. I've only had to use 1 of the 3, and applied very easily with no air bubbles. No less responsive either.

So in conclusion, have a look at the ones I had success with, but deffo don't buy the filter and stylus set. I think probably a lot of ebay retailers have tons of dead stock of Wii U screen filters laying around for super cheap, so I'd just spend a few quid on some different sets, there are plenty as good as the Hori brand it seems.

Good luck!

u/thegamerpad · 1 pointr/wiiu

Zombie U - $14.99 (has been as low as $9.99 before at Best Buy)

Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge - $16.95

Wonderful 101 - $23.59

Pikmin 3 Digital Code - $15 - $25

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 - $14.95

Tekken Tag Tournament - $19.99

That right there will put you at about $105. You can really only find Pikmin 3 cheap by looking on eBay for those selling the free codes that came from Mario Kart 8. DKC is still generally full MSRP and I don't think I've ever seen Lego City Under Cover cheaper than $30 new. I know I've seen some of these listed games on sale for $9.99 new before (Ninja Gaiden, Tekken Tag, COD:Blops 2, Zombi U) and for sure I've seen them used at that price through GameFly (case, manual and discs usually come in excellent condition) Hope this helps

Oh yeah and Best Buy price matches Amazon (I believe Wal-mart does too) so you could go to a store, or order online (will require some customer service help) and price match the items so you can grab them from the same store.

u/ChocoTacoz · 1 pointr/wiiu

u/ReZeroK · 1 pointr/XenobladeChroniclesX

Xenoblade Chronicles X is definitly a must-but for Wii U.
This game is totally a separate story from the original Xenoblades, so it doesn't matter wether you played the old ones or not.

The setting of Xenoblade Chronicles X takes place on Mira, a distant planet located far away from Earth. It is divided by five continents: Primordia, Noctilum, Oblivia, Sylvalum, and Cauldros. The human settlement known as New Los Angeles is established in the heart of Primordia. New LA serves as the hub of the entire planet, usually containing the majority of the NPCs, sidequests, and other important features. There are several alien races that reside on Mira beside the humans, such as the greedy Nopon race, the technologically-advanced Ma-non people, and the hostile Ganglion.

The avatar is the game's main character, a survivor of the crash who has no recollection of the events prior to his or her arrival on Mira. The player character is shortly joined by Elma, a BLADE colonel who serves as the central protagonist of the main story. After their arrival in New Los Angeles, they meet thirteen year old Lin Lee Koo, a girl who is known as a genius Skells mechanic. Somewhere along the way, they rescue a Nopon known as Tatsu. Several BLADE members who join the team during the course of the story include: Doug Barrett, Irina Akulov, Gwin Evans, Lao Huang, and L. The team first confront the Ganglion, the antagonist organization, through Goetia in Noctilum. Later on, a pair of Ganglion executives known as Ryyz and Dagahn attack New Los Angeles. The two proud Wrothian warriors called Prince Ga Jiarg and his servant Ga Buidhe, work under Luxaar who the main antagonist and the head of the Ganglion organization.

This game combines the Giant-Mech battles(Skell as they call it in the game) with ground battles as in first person which is quite cool how you can enter a skell during a battle unlike the other games.

They have tons of quests in this game even after you beat the main story. And each division you change to, new quests will appear on the quest board.

Weapons and Armors are also pretty cool in this game. Once you equip the weapons and armors, you can actually see them on you, each armor and weapon have quite different graphics. You can also unlock more later in the game. (this also applies for skells)

Anyways, there are a lot more in the game then what i can type right now.

The price for the game is comparativly lower then when the game first came out. and yeah, right now the price on amazon is lower then most Wii U games. Xenoblade Chronicles X on Amazon

Yeah sure man, either get the Mayflash adapter (which I'd recommend because it has "native" mode, and PC mode, so you can freely use it with other games besides dolphin):

Or you can get the official Nintendo adapter, which looks better and also works (and you've got the official Nintendo quality):

Nope, but I meant free to play online.

> also I own a xbox 360 with bo2, Ghosts, and Advanced warfare. I really want to try it on the wiiu and see the difference

Well, you have to pay for XBOX Live on that, so maybe you see what I meant by "free to play online". Anyway, BO2 will look almost exactly the same, maybe a LITTLE bit better, with better loading times, but there are still graphical issues that only a corporate developer could ship with.

The main difference is the GamePad and split screen play.

u/bonelatch · 1 pointr/consolerepair

Yea I figured it was either it worked after cleaning it up or Id have to replace it. I just couldnt understand how the hell there was so much liquid without it frying everything. Problem is, I dont know if I messed up anything else during teardown so buying a new LCD is questionable to me lol. I have confidence in my skill but otherwise anything could happen and I dont want to spend money for no reason. Really wish the gamepads werent so damn expensive.

Edit: I was considering this kit. Good reviews and apparently good customer service and Amazon. Could even Prime it to get to testing faster lol. https://www.amazon.com/YTTL%C2%AE-Replacement-Screen-Digitizer-GamePad-U/dp/B00WFUQZMK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1537826096&sr=8-2&keywords=wii+u+screen+replacement&dpID=41iaC%252B4qCVL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

Edit 2: The console was a refurb from Gamestop that someone owned and then sold to me. I got my money back but also offered to try and fix it. They were okay with that but after letting them know the issue they arent sure if they want it back. They say I can take it for $25 if I want since the console itself is fine but again a good screen kit is like $25-$30.

This is a late reply, but if you're willing to order them, you can get a blue Yoshi amiibo at B&H Photo and Video. I live near the store and so I picked him up, but no one expects a camera store to stock Amiibos, so they still have him. Their standard shipping is $3, so after tax he's about $21.

Edit: Just saw, you wanted the Green one more. They also have him on their site. However, Amazon also has him currently with Prime

u/LinkofHyrule · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I think both controllers are good for different types of games. I'd say having one pro controller and two sets of joycon is the way to go. I own a regular pro controller but also a third party one. If you want a good cheap pro controller alternative this one works great but if you can afford a real pro controller is definitely better.

You can buy an already made usb cable if you don't feel like taking on a cool project: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00FRD777E/ref=mp_s_a_1_10?qid=1422413612&sr=8-10&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70

This thing looks pretty cool

I just ordered one. I'll try to remember to let you know if it works out or not.

Recommend me a new cheap/main controller! I want to get a proper controller to go along my multiple GameCube controllers, options right now are the following:

  • 8Bitdo Sn30 Pro+ 50$ Pros: form factor, wireless, premium features - Cons: expensive
  • 8Bitdo SN30 Pro USB (wired) 25$ Pros: same quality, cheap - Cons: form factor (I don't mind the fact that it's wired that much)
  • EEEKit Wireless Pro Gaming Controller 22$ Pros: decent reviews, cheap, Xbox One shaped - Cons: probably the least impressive option

I don't wanna get an official Nintendo Pro Controller, cause I don't particularly like it, it's too expensive and I don't use amiibo. This will be my main controller for everything not Smash and I also plan to use it to play old games on my computer.
