Mmmm, the Sanford Uni-ball Micro 0.5mm in black is the greatest pen ever made. On a legal pad, the right amount of padding beneath just makes silky lettering.

Maybe get him a decent pen that uses refills. I had a fancy Montblanc pen years ago, that thing lasted me probably 20 years until I finally ruined it. Bent over and it fell out of my pocket, then ran it over. Almost made me cry!
Montblanc pens didn't used to be SO expensive, and now I work from home, so seems silly to spend that money. So I bought a couple of awesome Pilot pens. They're about $13 and feel extraordinarily well made, and they write nicely too. One of those pens if you take it out of your pocket so a person can borrow it to sign something, they end up holding the pen, looking at it, studying it for a few seconds and say "hmm, that's a nice pen!". https://www.amazon.com/Pilot-Metropolitan-Collection-Classic-91207/dp/B009X9Z2DY

Well what role do they have exactly. If they are retail, they could probably use a few things:

Kind of a range of prices as well, depending on how much you want to spend.
If they are a CPP or do a lot of clinical stuff then Epocrates Essentials is SOOOO useful, albeit a bit expensive (still less expensive then the alternatives and a lot better IMO).

According to an old interview, at 5:40, he uses a Pentel G-pen/dip pen for lines, and multiple fudepens. You can see closeups of the fudepens at 6:16. I've been trying to get a perfect match on them, but he never shows them in plain view.
This kind of looks like the fudepen, but the stickers are off.

Man I want one, will this do the job ?
Amazon.ca has them.
Stylo.ca in Montréal also has them.
Stylus Pens in Edmonton has them.
The website for Laywine's in Toronto doesn't list their stock but they have everything so I'd be shocked if they didn't have this one as well.
They're not that hard to come by in Canada is what I'm seeing here, and they should all ship to the US.
The ink you link to is India ink, and will clog your fountain pens. Stay away from it, and all other inks that are not marked for use in fountain pens.
Now, to have a good cheap ink Hero Ink is available in 4 colors, and pretty cheap, Parker Quink is a little more, but still cheap, then there is Noodler's Heart of Darkness which is also very well priced, and you get a pen when you buy the 4.5oz bottles, and a bunch of the colors can be had in the 4.5oz (130+ml) bottles.

I'm not OP, but I have one and really like it. It looks neat, writes smooth, and the cap looks good when posted. Also I'm a fan of thinner pens and pencils so it scratches that itch.
I put a cartridge converter in mine which makes it last a while longer and use less expensive ink, although it still doesn't hold as much as a twsbi eco or even a lamy safari with converter because it's a smaller pen.
Edit: lady to lamy. Also [this is the converter](Universal Fountain Pen Ink Converter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002P2T42G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_27AP6CX567JxQ) I used for it.
I know exactly how you feel. While I really enjoy the size of these pens, I write far too heavy with too much pressure to allow these guys to last more than a few days.
The Zebra F-402 series are solid metal with a rubberized grip on the end. The cap unscrews to replace the cartridge and it uses the same refills as the F-301--a win-win. You might have better luck with these.
Waterman Intense Black seems to be the best fit for your requirements. It's a nice black ink, and dries quickly.
Parker Quink is an option like you mentioned But I've used Quink in a fine nib and it wasn't grey but it was a light black. In a medium or bigger nib it should be a medium black.
I hope this helps.
I put compact pens there.

Three pens I'd suggest:
TWSBI Eco ($29) - The subreddit loves this pen for a reason. Incredibly good value with a demonstrator piston filler (which you may not like if you want to stick with cartridges) as well as multiple, swappable nib options.
Faber-Castell Loom ($40) - Incredibly smooth nib, can't really say much more than that.
Pilot Capless ($75-80) - The cheaper, stainless steel/"special alloy" nibbed version of the Pilot Vanishing Point with a gold nib, but still a great retractable pen. The nib units are also swappable, including with the VP's gold nibs if you wanted to upgrade but not buy a separate pen.
Current FP Carry:
I also have a Tombow mechanical pencil, a Montblanc ballpoint, and a metallic gold G2. It's a good fist-full, and a little too bulky for my preferences. BUT I LOVE THEM
For the price, the Pilot Ergo demonstrator is an awesome pen and the EF nib is truly EF. I've even seen some people on here transfer that nib into other pens. I converted my Ergos into eyedroppers pretty easily with just silicone grease and the ink looks fantastic in them. I haven't had any leaking problems yet and they've been in action for about a month now. Despite being so fine, I haven't had any issues with them drying up too quickly either. The only thing I don't like so much about them is that they don't show off ink subtleties as well on paper since the line they lay down is so fine. I don't think they come with anything other than that EF Penmanship nib.
I also really love my TWSBI Diamond, and I have heard great things about the Eco so I'll probably pick one up sometime soon.
Check out the Pilot Metropolitan
Great pen imo that takes the G2 refill

I'm glad I was able to give you some inspiration! Here are the pens I use:

http://www.amazon.com/CircuitWriter-Precision-Pen-silver-based-grams/dp/B00B88B9KI
Used properly(thin lines) it dries in seconds. As for ballpoint, the people here who funded the kickstarter say the pen they received barely works. Because silver particles and ballpoint just don't go together well. As well they edited their video to make the pen appear to perform better then it does.
That's why if you watch this video on the ballpoint design, you will see the product they advertise here does have a drying time, and can not be used like a regular pen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfNByi-rrO4
pilot parallel for anyone wondering

For me it's the price difference.
Pelikan m800 | Goulet $572 | Amazon $415 | isellpens $425 | nibs $520 |
Namiki metal Falcon | Goulet $240 | Amazon $213 | nibs $240 |
Lamy 2000 | Goulet $159
| Amazon $125 |
I like Goulet as much as the next person, and I've supported them in the past, and will continue to selectively support them in the future. However shipping cost to Hawaii is expensive, combine that with free shipping from Amazon through prime makes it an easier choice where I spend my money.
Hm... the pilot CON-20 converter thing it comes with should give you enough to last through at least a day... Per haps the next purchase you should get is this:
http://www.amazon.com/Noodlers-Ink-4-5Oz-Heart-Darkness/dp/B0015VB4EE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1458021471&sr=8-1&keywords=noodler+heart+of+darkness
You get ink and an eyedropper pen which will be able to store a lot more ink. Or you can get the blue too:

Hi there! Welcome to /r/fountainpens! As a FP newbie myself, I hope I might be able to lend a little helpful advice on your search for a first pen. :)
Jinhao pens, I think most people would agree, are fair performers, and their costs at pennies on the dollar are quite attractive. A piece of advice, though: if you don't mind waiting for a Jinhao pen to be shipped from Asia, try eBay. You can almost always find their pens for a third of the cost as a US-based retailer, if not less. Here's the 159 for $4.50, for example.
Interestingly, many other Jinhao pens are also available on eBay for even less than this one. There's the 156 for $3, the 750 stainless for $3, and the X450 for $1.50, among many others.
Of course, any Jinhao pen you buy will not come with ink. You'll need ink to write anything with any pen! If you're after black ink, you could buy the Noodler's Heart of Darkness bundle, which is a bulletproof ink (which means it has properties that make it difficult or impossible to alter after it's dried on paper) that comes with a decent pen.
The Pilot Metropolitan deserves a nod here, too. It's a heavy pen (as it's made of metal), but some people love that premium feel at this price range. $13 shipped. If you don't like the zigzag pattern on the grip, Parker makes other models. Just search Amazon for the Pilot Metropolitan.
You might also consider the Parker Urban kit from Parker. $40 is a bit steep compared to the Jinhao and Noodler's kit, but it comes with everything you need all in one package. Some people don't much care for the Urban because it uses a proprietary converter mechanism (for filling the pen), but bah, humbug. It's a solid performer and is still easy to fill, even if it does fill differently from other pens.
I'll echo some general advice I've seen on these forums: Lamy pens aren't bad, but they tend to be overpriced. You'll run into lots of Lamy models if you do an Amazon search and filter by average review rating. They are highly reviewed pens. It's worth checking them out if you get more interested in fountain pens, but for starting out I'd recommend one of the units above.
Lastly, if you're feeling luxurious, you might be interested in the Massdrop sale on the Conklin Stylograph Mosaic. This little guy is $55--way more than the $12 Jinhao you started with--but it's also in a different kind of class, more a collector's item or a nice pen than simply a serviceable one. That $55 price tag expires today, and the regular price is closer to $100. I'd recommend a different pen for starting simply because this one is more expensive, but I also thought I'd let you know just in case because the deal is gone after today. :) There's no referral on that link. If anyone would like to help me with Massdrop referrals, my referral link is below.

The world of fountain pens is big, and I'm just getting my feet wet myself. I hope you find the tips here useful. :)
Here's a direct link:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0015VB4EE/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1511465821&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=noodler%27s+heart+of+darkness
Hope that helps!
They make really decent short and thin pens. And given this guy's tendencies, I tend to believe size is key point here.
EDIT: Oh no, see #29.
Which dangler clip is that on the knife?
You might like the Zebra T-3 (or T-5 with gold clip). It's the same writing quality as the Zebra F-series pens but extremely small. Not comfortable for extended writing and obviously it doesn't hold as much ink, but I shill for it a lot on this sub since the F-701 is so popular.
I would suggest maybe checking out some of the smaller Zebra pens like the (Zebra Mini Ballpoint Pen T-3) (https://www.amazon.com/Zebra-Ballpoint-T-3-Black-Silver/dp/B0018RHUM0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1499268851&sr=8-1&keywords=zebra+pens+small). It's more around 4 inches but it's a metal body and pretty slim. They're like $5 I think each, but can accept refills. Because it's thin it might be more comfortable clipped to your wallet.
Nice.
How about a prepaid sim card too? They're tiny. Obviously useless without a phone, but phones are ubiquitous. Carrying a prepaid sim means any phone with charge can be used, and it potentially gives you a network backup, if the spare is on a different network to your regular phone. Just check it every month to make sure it's topped up; a lot of networks will eat your credit if you don't use it within some time period, like 6 months.
How about a condom? Excellent compact water carriers / other improv uses.
I stuck labels to the bottom and inside the lid of my ATFAK with personal info on them. Just so there's one less item to lose. I no longer carry the ATFAK btw, I have a bigger IFAK now.
Looks like you've laminated the info sheets. I would keep them as raw paper for use as emergency tinder / note taking devices.
How about some writing implement? Perhaps one of these. Could be stored inside the straw; no extra space required. (You can get them cheaper)
Ditch the keyring from the LED to save space?
I respect the fact that you cut the corners off the med packets. Me too! High five!
Most likely-to-be useful item, imho, is that whistle.
edit: This pen looks even better, as it's supplied with 3 refils.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002K9J26W
Schmidt K5 converters hold-up better than the Chinese ones. Not saying you cannot break it, but you can tell when you're holding it that it's better made.
edit: linked to Amazon out of convenience. If you want to ensure you get an authentic one, pick a retailer of your choice but they're around $5.

If you wanna start to understand why, you can buy a Zebra F-701 for $5 at your local office supply store. That was my introduction to nice, metal manufactured pens.
What I really like to do is take an F-701, and buy an F-402 for $10. I replace the plastic mechanism in the F-701 with the metal mechanism from the F-402. Then I replace the branded clip on the 701 with the 402's blank clip. Now you have an all metal pen that looks nice with no branding on it, and it only cost you $15.
I think pretty much the entire J Herbin line is available with Prime shipping for ~13$, including Ambre de Birmanie and several blues: Eclat de Saphir, Diablo Menthe, and Bleu Nuit. They also have a couple other blues that you might like.
As for black, Quink is pretty good(and very inexpensive) but I find that it does better in F+ nibs. They also have a Blue-Black but it, unlike its black counterpart, isn't available with Prime shipping as far as I can see.
Lefty here - I use a fountain pen regularly. Try changing your ink to Parker's Quink Permanent, I don't smudge or smear as it's dry before my hand gets to the ink.
For Light Carry:
http://www.amazon.com/Zebra-Compact-Ballpoint-Pen-27412/dp/B0055EB35W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1373222977&sr=8-1&keywords=f-301+compact
I couldn't find one in stores though. Ended up taking home a F-701 which I eventually modded and I absolutely love now.
It's a pretty well known joke.
You are most likely getting a joke response because It retails at $130, shipped with prime. $100 is a lot to ask for a second hand pen at a $30 discount
If you don't have any luck, I'll offer you $60 shipped, payable as soon as you would like. This is about what it is worth.
Good luck with the sale regardless!
Edit: See you on /r/nexus6 !
Pay for a chunk of your new Pilot Vanishing Point. OR, buy yourself a Midori Traveler's Notebook in brown leather if you already have a decent fountain pen or two. My two cents, or what I would do with $50 on Amazon.
Here you are! I'm pretty sure all the colors and patterns are available on Amazon.
Congrats on your new toy!
Oh OK, I like the idea of canals, that's actually really cool. Ummm, colored pencils would look really nice, but might smudge. I usually go with a set of Stabilo art markers. Either way, get something with a large range, so you can shade a lot.
This is what I use personally, although you should maybe buy a single pen or pencil to see how you like them before shelling out for anything big. Most art shops sell singles.

if it didnt have anything in the inside layers then only the trace is broken.
If it is just the traces they can be repaired with this or something similar.

It is quite expensive, however worth it. Here is a video from LTT explaining the pen.
> I really want to start using them, but they're so expensive!
There are several really good starter fountain pens for ~$30
Pilot Metropolitan
MUJI Aluminum Fountain Pen
Would be two that I would recommend. The second I have experience with, it has a lot of feedback but is still pretty decent. I haven't used a Metropolitan but it has a very good reputation.
Best pen depends on the paper.
These are excellent on white copy paper: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006IE8O/
For notebook paper (thinner and bleeds through), Zebra pens will always be my favorite: https://www.amazon.com/Zebra-Ballpoint-Retractable-Refillable-Stainless/dp/B00NHV6VH0/
Plenty of people around here, including myself, love the Pilot Parallel pens. They come in 4 sizes. You can get several different color ink cartridges, or a converter and use whatever fountain pen ink you want.
I use the 2.4mm for most of my practice/work.

it's holding a pilot metropolitan!! https://www.amazon.com/Pilot-Collection-Fountain-Ellipse-91434/dp/B015XIKE2W?th=1&psc=1
Still cheaper on Amazon when shipping is added Comes out to 44 cents less on Amazon Prime. Might be good for those without Prime, though!
I love Massdrop- just have to make sure the deal is good :D
Is this the kind you’re looking for? Uni-Ball Roller Pen It doesn’t look to be gel or liquid ink. Reviews say there isn’t a smudging issue.
If you're looking for something that doesn't smear, look at getting a box of these:
http://www.amazon.com/uni-ball-Stick-Micro-Roller-60151/dp/B00006IE8P/ref=pd_sbs_op_2
I've written on shitty glossy notebook paper that's horrible about smearing, and I've had no problems with those pens.
And cursive... Don't get me started on cursive. Everything I've ever signed is a unique snowflake.
For you!
Yes, I wrote it fairly quickly but with nice handwriting in mind.
I used some Uniball pen like this.
Honestly you cant go wrong with anything uniball, especially the thicker ones so it doesnt rip through thin paper
https://www.amazon.com/uni-ball-Roller-Micro-Point-0-5mm/dp/B00006IE8P/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1524440496&sr=8-3&keywords=uniball
or

Comparing the X-701 to the Sasra Grand and the Uni-ball Roller. Top part is from the Sasra, bottom is X-701. When I said the Sasra was the "best of both worlds", I was referring to the consistency and quality of the X-701 and the smoothness and line thickness of the Uni-Ball. It's kind of hard to make out in the picture, but the Sasra pen does not smear AT ALL compared to the G2, even when rubbed immediately after writing. It's kind of crazy. Ruggedness and water-resistance aside, this is a great pen for every day use and will now be my new daily driver.
I use a expensive-ish fountain pen now (Lamy Studio) and highly recommend it, but the best disposable pens I've ever used were the Uniball stick micro pens (http://www.amazon.com/Uni-ball-Stick-Micro-Roller-60151/dp/B00006IE8P) or deluxe.
i was just coming on here to suggest this pen. i think it would be worth picking up one to see how it works with the carbon paper. dries fast and is dark! here's link for that dozen kipthunderslate mentioned~~ http://www.amazon.com/Uni-ball-Stick-Micro-Roller-60151/dp/B00006IE8P
It's a 3rd party seller taking advantage of your search. Look for the model number and it's £4.90
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pentel-XFL2L-Scientific-Brush-Medium/dp/B000THNGVO
for that, stay away from fountain pens. You want a "brush pen" such as https://smile.amazon.com/Pentel-Fude-Brush-Medium-XFL2L/dp/B000THNGVO/ (completely random result, not recommending this, just so you can see what you need to search for)
Not this exact video, but one of the same footage was posted yesterday or the day before in /r/ArtisanVideos, and someone said he was using this kind of brush pen and a Pentel correction pen.
Looks like this.
http://www.amazon.com/Lamy-2000-Fountain-Pen-Extra-Fine/dp/B000UUIZNY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1394674515&sr=8-1&keywords=lamy+200+fine Here you go and 132$
I have the fine actually, I use it to write essays and notes for school its quickly become my main workhorse pen.
Amazon UK implies Lamy M nibs (and their steel LH nibs) are ground differently - check out the item description. So M nibs have a bigger sweet spot compared to the EF/F/B/BB.
Old German nib charts sometimes had "round" tips and "ball" tips. Lamy used to produce a MK (medium kugel/ball). At some point the old M was discontinued and they continued producing the MK under the M label.
Price has gone up a bit since I purchased.
Here you go. Wow, that's pretty expensive compared to the US. For us it is $24 for you, it is £26. That would be $38 after currency conversion. It is an amazing ink, though. It makes nibs glide across the paper like you are writing with oil.
"Eyedropper" type pens, where you fill the entire barrel of the pen with ink, instead of a cartridge, are called an eyedropper pen, because the diameter of the barrel, being larger than a tiny cartridge, is easier to fill up with an eyedropper. I do have Noodler's Heart of Darkness ink in the larger bottle with the eyedropper, which came with an included free eyedropper pen. Like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Noodlers-Ink-Heart-Darkness-19808/dp/B0015VB4EE/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1495247390&sr=8-3&keywords=noodler%27s+bulletproof+black
The official ink of incel manifesto writers
Try Noodler's "Heart of Darkness" ink. It won't wash out... Just don't
spill it! http://www.amazon.com/Noodlers-Ink-4-5Oz-Heart-Darkness/dp/B0015VB4EE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1421364663&sr=8-1&keywords=noodlers+heart+of+darkness
I bought this and it says it comes with a pen... some stuff states it comes with a "charlie" and others states it comes with a "preppy". well the preppy comes with a rollerball nib that gets stuck in it during shipping... I got both. No complaints, but I also cant find the rollerball nib. I shined a flashlight up in there and nothing, so I am guessing I am good to fill with ink?
first pens i have ever had that didn't need cartridges. so just slightly nervous about screwing them up.
Zebra makes a small pen. I think the model is T3.
E: They look to be close to the size you want, but probably not at the price you want since you want a few of them.
I got you This is what I put in my cartier's after their ink died flows somewhere between a ballpoint and a gel. Also Cartier makes excellent pen refills, they are just expensive and hard to come by.
A friend gifted me a Parker IM he didn't use, and for $12, I'm having a hard time finding something better.
I've heard mixed reviews of how well Parker refills write, but with so many Parker-style refills to choose from (I've heard the Schmidt easyFLOW 9000 is great), you should be able to put together something you like pretty cheap. And it's metal and clicky.
I can't imagine switching from schmidt easyflow 9000 refills, myself.
Had this same pen for a while now, love it.
Here's the ink it takes if anyone is wondering https://www.amazon.com/Pack-Schmidt-easyFLOW-9000-Black/dp/B0025ZX11S?th=1
I'm love stuff like this that goes on your keychain.
I have the tool you linked, and also from the same company got this:
http://www.amazon.com/True-Utility-Telepen-Telescopic-Pen/dp/B002K9J26W
Unfortunately, the pen portion got lost, after about 1 use.
It doesn't really hook in to the holder in any secure fashion, so pretty easy for it to fall out. :\
I carried an Inka Pen previously and a Telepen now, unless you're writing underwater or ^IN ^SPACE! I would recommend either for better ink and more convenient carry.
It's a TRUE UTILITY TELE PEN. It has served me very well for the past 3 years.
Looks like an International Standard converter to me. They're $5 on Amazon. Schmidt makes a good converter, as does Kaweco.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002P2T42G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I can confirm this fits, I bought it specifically for my Loom and it fits perfectly.
Zebra F-402 is fully stainless steel. I suppose if you were a bit more inclined you could sharpen the tip to make it even more penetrable but it's gonna make a nice sized hole even out of the package if necessary.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004WOAJP6/
It's a fairly hefty feeling pen. My personal favorite is the Zebra F-301. I also like the F-402. I think you can't go wrong with any of them, but the 701 is a weighty pen and a bit thick, but not so much you can't wear it in a breast pocket or waist pocket.
The Zebra F-701 and Zebra F-402 aren't exactly tactical, but they are pretty heavyweight and write really well. They take cheap refills too. I have the F-701 and the weight and sturdiness are great, however I don't really write that much, just come class notes and such.
A <F> nib will be less likely to bleed through because it puts down less ink. Although a Pilot <M> isn't really that wide. Also, the smaller your handwriting, the better you'd be with a <F> nib. On the flip side, broader nibs can make a person's sloppy handwriting look a little better, too.
Shin-Ryoku is a great ink but if you are just looking for value some Parker Quink (not the washable version) will probably be 1/2 the cost and work just as well for note-taking and general use. It's not as exciting but it's good solid ink for just about anything:
Black - https://www.amazon.com.mx/Parker-Super-Repuesto-permanente-botella/dp/B004YK4VHA/ref=sr_1_1?
Blue- https://www.amazon.com.mx/Parker-Quink-57ml-Bottle-Permanent/dp/B000J61TIM/ref=sr_1_2?
You might even consider just getting some Namiki ink cartridges to start out. Cheaper and it won't lock you in as long so you can get a little more variety until you really decide what you like
https://www.amazon.com.mx/Pilot-Fountain-Cartridge-Cartridges-69101/dp/B004IKTKQI/ref=sr_1_1?
LOL, I went to Amazon Mexico and about crapped when I saw that the Shin-Ryoku was over $400/bottle.......
Oh, Pesos...... oh, OK.
Before starting, you should settle on a nib width that you are going to use. A lot of time people choose Medium because they think it's middle of the road and they often leave unsatisfied because it isn't. The line width you get from normal writing utensils tends to be more of a Fine on a fountain pen. I find it hard to get good handwriting with a medium nib whereas a fine is a lot easier.
Now at £10 here are some options:
There are plenty of other Chinese pens out there, and you could go search them and find one you like too. I'm partial to Baoer pens: for me they have written better than any other Chinese pen. A lot of people recommend Jinhao pens, but their nibs run wide and they dry out a lot quicker when left sitting.
As for bottled ink, I would suggest it for the Chinese pens because they come with the converter that is used to fill from the bottle. The inks I would recommend for you are:
You could get a Zebra F-301 Compact. It is about the same size as the Fisher Space Pen and has a clip that you can deep carry. The only thing is that part of the barrel is plastic, so not sure how it would hold up if you sat on it often. I have two of them and have enjoyed them, but can't speak to the longevity since I do not carry them regularly (mostly stay in car or Maxpedition).

Right outside your price range!!!!
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005WPTTG4/ref=twister_B00Z7EAY28?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
With regard to the Pilot VP Matte Black.... the price on Amazon has been reduced to $103 vs the steel nib at ~$80ish.
https://www.amazon.com/Pilot-Vanishing-Collection-Retractable-60580/dp/B005WPTTG4/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8
I'm about to screw you over even further. Pilot Plumix and Penmanship have nibs that are compatible with Metros. Just pull the feed unit, change the nib (the metal part) and you're good to go. My Metro is now a calligraphy pen with line variations and shit.
That was my first one too
Edit: I'll add a couple of mine

So I’ve been using the pen called Pilot Fountain Pen with Ergo grip. I couldn’t find the official name, but unfortunately it has evaded me. Here’s an Amazon link
So far, this is the finest line pen I’ve ever used. Really thinner than a strand of hair.
Haha is that a thinkpad charger in the background?
just in case you don't know you can get an EF off amazon for $6
Pilot Metropolitan or MR Retro collection. Your grip will be plastic but fits all your other criteria. The body is a lightweight metal, comes in multiple color options (including an unassuming black with silver accents), it takes Pilot G-2 refills, and it's below $20.

I don’t use the key ring knife as much anymore. I used to work in a place where I had to open a lot of boxes with customers around and sometimes people would freak out if they saw a knife. But the SOG micron was small enough that most people wouldn’t notice and if they did it wouldn’t freak them out. That’s why my regular knife is so small too (and because it’s super thin compared to most EDC knives so you don’t feel it at all in your pocket). I used to carry a Kershaw link a lot but that one was big enough that management didn’t like it when I pulled it out in front of customers.
I believe that they will fit in a pilot metropolitan gel body. There won't be an eraser though.

Id suggest a Pilot Metropolitan, or if you need something a bit smaller, a Fisher Space Pen. Both are available in different colors/styles, including fountain in the case of the metropolitan.
To be fully transparent I'll admit that we've had a few small hiccups in linework in the past, we're learning a lot in the process of digitizing some of the paper or "not print-ready" files some artists have given us, but we definitely recognize that people want quality and strive to improve.
Our paper quality, if that speaks to you, is 70# uncoated offset recycled content.
Typical office copy machine paper is usually coated (so less of a natural feel under the pencil, no "tug") and usually 22# or 24# (much thinner). Some markers bleed through though. In unscientific but well meaning testing we found that our paper resistance to heavier markers is roughly the same as the leading coloring books (a certain lady whose last name starts in Bas and ends in ford)
I use these a lot (http://smile.amazon.com/Stabilo-8830-1-Point-Color-Wallet/dp/B00ATBRJRC?sa-no-redirect=1) and for the most part it won't bleed through the page. Nevertheless we don't put coloring pages back to back so as to mitigate that risk.
Thank you both for this conversation, this is very helpful to us
Le Pen and Stabilo pens write similarly to Staetlers, but unfortunately, all felt tip pens tend to wear down rather quickly.
http://www.amazon.com/Stabilo-88-30-Color-Wallet-Set/dp/B00ATBRJRC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449852069&sr=8-1&keywords=stabilo+88
I used a Conductive Ink Pen to overclock an old Core 2 Duo CPU. I'm not sure how this kickstarter pen is much different?
You might be able to repair that damaged edge connector using one of these:
CircuitWriter Conductive Ink, silver-based, 4g https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B88B9KI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_rcwTzb8SBTXHG
Of course, for $20 it's probably not worth buying for this one project.
My stealth merc has taken quite the abuse, pop, coffee, beer, water... its felt it all. I have taken it apart to clean over a dozen times. For months i've been having intermittent issues that cleaning didn't solve. on 4 keys on the gaming portion i had problems, a couple days ago my strafe left no longer worked.... My keyboard is so worn there is 15 keys worn down to the clear plastic on the full top.
So i got thinking, why not patch up the burnt looking traces with some circuit writer ink? (https://www.amazon.ca/CircuitWriterTM-Precision-Pen-silver-based-grams/dp/B00B88B9KI)
A lot of patience is needed, if you cross a trace, wait for it to dry and scrape with a pin tip. Also start by going over the actual button dots first, top and bottom. let dry under a hot light for 4 hours, assemble and give the keys a try. Dont use the keyboard for 24 hours roughly to give the stuff time to cure properly. 3 of the 4 problem keys were fixed just by patching the dots. the strafe key though took 2 attempts to fix, due to a burnt short trace. The side effect of all this work though has been a bit of dust near my main keyboard F key making it need a heavy press and me being too lazy to fix it.
Tips for the pen:
-Pay a bit more to get my pen at an electronics shop that has a high turn over, that way it isn't sitting on a shelf long
-SHAKE IT WELL, i hooked mine to a sawzall and let'r rip
-for more precision, apply the ink to the keyboard shell in one spot to use as an ink well and dont press the tip on the plastic. Being too heavy handed will mean a lot of scraping later
I hope this helps those who are in this similar issue. i've been kicking myself for buying my wife and i each a new set and chucking the old dirty ones back when they started going on clearance. I just thought they were coming out with a true RGB version, not doing the stupid move and axing the whole product line. I would love to see a new version, i don't even care its rgb or mechanical, i just want it or its layout and am choked i cant even find a keypad with a similar layout.
When my wife's original broke and i couldn't find them at first, we returned many competitors products due to them not feeling right, then i found 2 at bestbuy for $80 buried in a corner. that was the last time i saw them on a shelf... *tears up*
So what everyone's favourite pens? I've found these Zebra brand ones over here and love em. Cheap, light, and a fine nib to write.
https://www.amazon.com/Zebra-Ballpoint-Retractable-Refillable-Stainless/dp/B00NHV6VH0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1539979956&sr=8-1&keywords=zebra+pens&dpID=51BE56nfNXL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
Kinda pricey on Amazon UK though
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Zebra-F-301-Ball-Point-Pens/dp/B00NHV6VH0/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1539979972&sr=8-3&keywords=F-301
For a fountain pen, I would recommend (not really calligraphy, but they do look fancy compared to ballpoints)
For calligraphy, I would recommend
Edit: Like shugpug said, It depends what script you are trying to practice.
It is this one :)
If you love it so much, why don't you marry it?!
But seriously, it's a $15 pen. Not that fancy in context. Link
Wow thanks!
Question: Is the Pilot Metropolitan retro pop's ink red too (not just the shell)?
I'm looking at [this one] (http://www.amazon.com/Pilot-Collection-Fountain-Turquoise-91436/dp/B015XIKE2W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1451367976&sr=8-1&keywords=Pilot+Metropolitan+retro+pop).
Also a lefty, been using these for several years. I've tried switching to various other pens (Pilot G2, Jetstream, Signo 207, Cross Century, V5/V7 Precise, etc.) and have yet to find one that writes as well for me. No feathering, no bleed-through, no skipping or clumping, and the ink dries fast enough that I don't get any smudging, even after extensive note-taking.
The only downside is that they don't make them in a "nicer" barrel, nor are they refillable. But they're cheap, they write great, and they look good if you appreciate minimalism.
It looks like this:
https://www.amazon.com/uni-ball-Roller-Micro-Point-0-5mm/dp/B00006IE8P
My EDC and favorite disposable stick is the [Uni-Ball Micro] (http://www.amazon.com/Uni-ball-Stick-Micro-Roller-60151/dp/B00006IE8P), $8 for 12. You can get them in an office supply store. The Super Ink is the best-writing, blackest stuff you can put on paper, but you cannot write on any slick or glossy surfaces without smudging.
Would this be a good pen to practice calligraphy/penmanship with? I've used genuine, full-sized brushes with sumi ink but I'm looking for a smaller substitute

He's using something like a pentel fude brush pen and smears the ink with his fingers to get a slight gradation in value. The brand of brush pen is likely irrelevant.
It's kind of hard to tell since the video is sped up like 1600% but you can find real time vids where you can see him smear the ink with his fingers.
He doesn't do any underdrawing now because hes an incredibly advanced artist who has probably drawn for a million hours since he was born.

Ooh, good to hear. Do they usually announce their special events beforehand?

So good! I'll stick with the cheaper Lamy and then might go for this one! That's an excellent offer, as they're way cheaper in Switzerland.
> If you post on pen_swap there's a good chance you can get one to you -with shipping- for 100 or lower if they are in the same country.
I really don't know if there are any Swiss people out there, but I'll keep an eye out.
> Inks - yeahhh I go for all the colors. I own a black and I've inked up with it once. It's just so boring... I think I said before, but I have a sample of Robert Oster Emerald that I'm loving right now. Everything RO is great... Especially their blue/greens.
RO has so many fantastic colours, I'll end up with a sh*t ton of different samples. Ugh, cannot decide, don't want to decide. There are just too many to choose from!
> Lamy2k Nibs. These are NOT sold separately. (Atleast in US, I've heard you can buy them in the EU) And even if they were, they are gold nibs and 40% of the pen sizewise so its a good $80 for a new nib. Also, whats cool about the reverse grind is that you can write with both sides at any time on a whim. No swapping out nibs or cleaning the pen. Just rotate the pen roughly 180 degrees and bam its a new pen. I plan on getting it does to my L2k soon, but the grind is around 75usd.
Alright, I'll keep that in mind.
> Small note, when you go to your local store/retailer online if they have Lamy Pretrol INK then you should grab a bottle or twenty. The ink is hard to get. It's bought for 10.50usd and sold for 25 atm and climbing quickly. Last years limited edition was the Dark Lilac and those bottles go for 50ish now... It's a nice ink so even if you don't want to sell it, buy one and use it! There's a Lamy Safari Petrol pen that matches the ink.
I've already asked my local shop, but they haven't replied just yet, most likely due to a public holiday. Hopefully I'll get an answer tomorrow and see if I can get my hands on these inks.

The Schmidt Easy Flow 9000 is a refill that is a ballpoint/rollerball hybrid, but I find it writes just like a rollerball. Here's a review.
Although I enjoy fountain pens (like my Noodler Ahab), I usually rely on my Retro 1951 Tornado (red), which uses Schmidt EasyFlow 9000 roller ball refills
It comes with one, and takes these types of refills, though someone got to it earilier.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who writes out the name of the pen/ink on a line next to others so I can compare them. I thought I was becoming a little OCD or something!
I've got a variety of pens I've tried and collected over the years, that looks a little like your lineup. I've recently come back to the Parker Jotters. I can't remember which EDC blog I read that recommended the Schmidt EasyFLOW 9000 for the Parker Jotter. I am very glad I tried them. They write as smooth as a roller ball, dry as quick as a ball point, and write as dark and solid as a gel ink pen. I've been pretty impressed with them. No globbing or skipping, and the ink flows as soon as I touch pen to paper. I strongly recommend them if you stick with the Jotters. I just wish they came in a fine point. You can get a six-pack of Schmidt EasyFLOW 9000 refills on Amazon for about $10US.

I would assume that if your pen takes one Parker style refill then any would fit. Parker makes Gel refills but they run about $3 each. You could also try a Schmidt Easyflow 9000 which is an Emulsion/Hybrid ink refill. They cost less and are very smooth.

I usually give out 'telepens' as gifts. They are endlessly useful, fit in with the idea of 'Be Prepared' and also most leaders don't already have one, unlike a pocket knife.
I really want this pen for my keychain, but can't justify buying it in my head. I am always making lists and scrambling for a pen. Haha

Edit: Possibly this?
However, bendable pens exist, as well as Mini pens. Hope that helps.

The Blizzard notepad is nothing special, came with Overwatch or WoW, can't remember which.
I ended up getting some Moleskine classic notepads, just some pocket sized ones.
Unfortunately there is only a Staples (Office Depot) here, so everything else I need to order online, and it looks like Amazon.ca doesn't carry those Nemosine converters, only Monteverde and a universal one. So I'll have to keep an eye out if I come across them anywhere else.
G'day! I would like to buy a converter cartridge for my Parker Minxy "15", but I don't know anything about sizes and specifications. Should I be buying a specific size of cartridge? Or are the cartridges claiming to be "universal" size actually universal? Thank you! (I ask because this Parker looks extremely short compared to a normal pen, so I'm worried about converter lengths.) The converter I'm referring to.
I have the same pen. It is a Mugi fountain pen. Takes standard international cartrages. You also can buy this international ink Converter and use your own fountain pen ink!
5 dolalrs and free shipping for a pretty nice converter that comes standard with a lot of pens. This converter should work perfectly for you, and buying it from amazon will be a way better deal than trading away your ahab
You could refill it with a blunt tip syringe with the ink of your choice.
Other than that it seems to be a standard international short cartridge, which might mean that maybe a standard international converter could work.
Thank you /u/Ezo31202 for doing some searching around. After doing some searching on Amazon do you think this converter would work?
It was this model: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B002P2T42G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I'm planning on buying a TIHK for a friend thats going into vice. I think its always smart to have on you regardless if you are plain clothes or uniformed. Also a good pen like Zebra 402 or 701 is always a smart choice. They are nice enough to use but affordable enough to lose. Good hinged cuffs for off duty use and a low profile carrier is nice too. I don't know the laws and polices for officers in Queensland though.

Note that the tips are infact metal with a rubber of metal grip
I would recommend finding a cheap pen to play around with at first. If you have a Staples nearby, they might have some Cross fountain pens for sale for about $20. I bought one just to see how it writes and compare it to other higher priced ones. You could also get something online. Just perusing Amazon, these caught my eye:
https://www.amazon.com/Piston-Fountain-Plated-Transparent-Colors/dp/B07G281XVQ Four different piston-filler style pens for $20. Gives you the opportunity to abuse the one of your lease favorite color to see what kind of force it takes to spring tines (ruining the pen by bending the nib) and see how generally robust pens are.

https://www.amazon.com/Jinhao-Ancient-Playing-Fountain-Jewelry/dp/B00JBYXA94 Something a little more gaudy, if that's what you want.

https://www.amazon.com/Handcrafted-Collection-Converter-Journaling-Calligraphy/dp/B07H2BY8YN Something a little more simple and professional looking.

You're also going to want some inks. My Staples also sells black Parker "Quink" which is suitable for fountain pens. This comes in a bottle like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Parker-1950375-Quink-Bottle-Black/dp/B004YK4VHA and is only for pens which the body itself acts as an ink reservoir or the pen uses "Cartridge Converters".

Other pens are mainly meant for "Cartridges" which are small disposable ink tubes like these: https://www.amazon.com/Refillable-Cartridges-International-Calligraphy-Rollerball/dp/B07D43QR17 Luckily, most of these are interchangeable between pens. However, that's mostly just for the low-end pens. Higher end pens use different interface sizes and require their own brand cartridges. For this reason, I much prefer pens which either fill their own bodies with ink or use converters which are not thrown out. I rather dislike the disposable plastic bits of cartridges.

All in all, I'd save up $100 to start the hobby. Spend $50 on a pen or two and some ink to start. Figure out what you like and what you don't like and use the other $50 to find another pen that fits better into what your preferences are. Different pens are going to have different ways of writing. Some will be highly flexible at the nib and their line width will vary a lot, others will be very stiff and not have any change in line width versus writing pressure.
Eu recomendo absolutamente a Pilot G-2.
I'm using this with both pens: http://www.amazon.com/Parker-Permanent-Refill-2-ounce-S0037460/dp/B004YK4VHA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1453337590&sr=8-1&keywords=Parker+quink+ink
My suggestion is to get:
Pilot Metropolitan, you can also get a fine tip if you want that.
A Pilot Con-50
And finally, some Parker Quink.
I'd probably use the converters because they are less prone to leaking, and you can always get new ink in case you want another color.
A 2oz bottle of ink will likely last you around 9 months if you are writing a fair bit daily and don't spill any, though I've managed to go through one in 3 months, due to writing a novel.
If you want blue ink too, you can get some Blue Quink
Lamy also makes some great ink for cheap in Blue, Black and Turquoise
I think imma get this as my first ink. Cheap and practical I think.

Idk what refills it takes, but the F-301 Compact is pretty... Compact.
I've had that and the TEC picopen. Both have come off on me and been lost.
I now carry a Zebra F-301 Compact instead.
Zebra is pretty well renowned for their pens and mechanical pencils. The F701 is probably their best one. Stainless steel, knurled metal grip feels nice, satisfying smooth click. Clip is tight enough to stay clipped in your pocket and probably won't ever break (my biggest problem, pen clips breaking). I use the super bold 1.6mm tip refills. The .7mm tip they come with is just too fine for me, cuts paper.
Not really something marketed as "compact" but its skinny and non-intrusive. Would make a valuable addition to your edc.
Noticed zebra does have a compact version of their f301.
More of the zebra line up
I can't stand the globby ink and wide point of the Fisher space pens, so if I can't carry a pen in a shirt pocket I use a Zebra compact 301 clipped in a pants pocket like a knife. The link is just for information. They are available out there for much less. I just came across a stash in a Meijer store (upper US Midwest) for $4 a two-pack.
This is a bit of a dictionary answer, but you can value your pen based on price new and condition.
If you have this pen in new condition, then you can reasonably ask for a trade of a pen in similar condition that has the same new price.
Like this pen.
There is, of course, some margin because someone may want to trade their $150 pen that they don't like for your $100 pen that they do like (instead of spending actual dollars and still having a pen they don't like just gathering dust).
I say post it up for trade. Ask for what you want. Then see if anyone offers.
I'm a guy so I think I don't qualify haha...
The one I'm going to get right now: [Pilot Vanishing Point Matte Black] (https://www.amazon.com/Pilot-Vanishing-Collection-Retractable-60580/dp/B005WPTTG4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1497531115&sr=8-1&keywords=pilot+vanishing+point)
Holy grail pen of $700: [Visconti Homo Sapiens Dark Ages] (https://www.gouletpens.com/visconti-homo-sapiens-fountain-pen-dark-age-extra-fine/p/vi-59190-ef)
The Visconti is made from fucking lava. I don't know about you but that just sounds cool as fuck
Pilot Vanishing Point Collection Retractable Fountain Pen, Matte Black Barrel. I got mine for $125, the price fluctuates a lot.
All should have the 18k gold nib since that's what's written in the page:

I'm not a vast array of pen experience but IMO
It's not the cheapest, but I feel the pilot prera is very underrated. I have it in F and EF, it's a great work horse and its compact size is great for travel but it posts to pretty much a full size pen for a comfortable writing experience.
Pilot also has this
Pilot Fountain Pen with Ergo Grip, Extra Fine Nib, Clear Body (PFP50RNCEF) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006CQUI9O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_v1JLxbF3E8KAC
It's the same nib as the metro and Prera but in a much cheaper body. I got one after a co worker bent my Prera nib and wanted to switch to EF. It's a
I've also recently received a Lamy Al Star and based on reviews it's the same as the safari, just in aluminum. I know the safari is a reasonable price and the ability to swap out nibs is pretty quick and easy.
I'll go with everyone else here and say the Pilot Metropolitan, which is just a classic. I love Pilot fountain pens. They have nice, even, fine and extra fine lines and are economical everyday pens. I prefer the way they work with the way I write to my more expensive LAMYs and Faber-Castell Pens.
I will also recommend the Pilot Kakuno, which is a plastic, hexagonal barrel beginner pen (I think it's actually intended for schoolchildren).
I also like [this one] (https://www.amazon.com/Pilot-Fountain-Extra-Clear-PFP50RNCEF/dp/B006CQUI9O/ref=sr_1_fkmr2_3?s=office-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1510627790&sr=1-3-fkmr2&keywords=cheap+pilot+fountain+pen) just cause I think it's a kind of cool little demonstrator. You can get right into using these with a CON-50 converter or you can use the Pilot IC-100 Namiki cartridges (which I actually prefer at work because they're a little easier to pop in and out).
Platinum Preppy in either Extra Fine or Fine.
Pilot Kakuno in Fine.
Or Pilot Penmanship in Extra Fine.
All cheap pens that will write pretty fine to match your current pen. You will be at the mercy of your paper and the ink though. Pens will come with cartridges but be prepared to buy more carts or bottle ink and a syringe/converter.
It's a Pilot, I can't find any sort of model name. It's got an extremely fine point. I like fine lines, but I don't use this one much because the other two are so much nicer to use.

Have fun shopping!

This pen takes the G2 Refill, it's by Pilot as well.
The pen that I would recommend is Pilot Metropolitan Collection Gel Roller Pen. It has a nice looking partially metal body and takes G2 and Precise V5 RT refills quite handily. There are also a few other styles for the pen if you just search Amazon or jetpens.com. I just tested it out and it has the same unnoticeable small amount of tip wiggle as the standard body for the pen.
https://www.amazon.com/Stabilo-8830-1-Point-30-Coloring-Fineline/dp/B00ATBRJRC
A good set of pens is really fun for creative types. Pentel SignPens (either these or these) are fantastic. Sakura and Stabilo make great ones as well. I like previously offered highlighter ideas and love my new see-through ones that I linked there. Also what about a set of sketch pencils?
What about some paracord and accessories for making guinea pig leashes? There are tons of sites that tell how to make them, she might be into it.
I also just recently got a little more into makeup and found an AMAZING set of cheap makeup brushes as a starter set - These and I'm actually getting them for my 18 yo niece for Christmas.
Best of luck!
Love my Stabilo Pens, and also found lots of fun stickers on Etsy!
Imma go ahead and tell you how I did it. Get one of those pens to repair traces. Something like this I found it cheaper like for 7 dollars.
https://www.amazon.com/CircuitWriter-Conductive-Ink-silver-based-4g/dp/B00B88B9KI
and just connect the dots. I did all 3 of my Xbox's that way cuz I suck at soldering.
Well, if you're the DIY sort, you could try using a trace pen on it. You will probably have to do some real careful scraping first. Honestly, it looks fixable via that method, as it does not look like it gouges any other layers.
"maybe"
There are two ways to fix the trace
I'll have to look at what ink I got when I get home, but the pen was this one. Probably not the best pen, but I usually don't like how big fountain pens are and I really appreciated the slim, metal body of this one. I would take notes in class and the nib would dry out in between sentences.
I got it from Amazon. If you're on prime, it'll be at your doorstep in two days
Thanks :)

personally for my notes i like a super fine tip so i also carry several of these pilot g-tecs in the ultra fine .25mm size
http://www.amazon.com/Pilot-G-Tec-C-Rolling-3-Pack-35483/dp/B0058NNAG0
I don't buy the refills because the pens are fairly cheap and I'm always really hard on the grips (I play with them until they stretch out). Really I throw them away because I ruin the grips or the pen gets lost way before I ever run out of ink. I use to use these Zebra F-301 pens because I liked the look and feel. And I think in that regard they are better than the EnerGels. But the EnerGels write really smoothly and I don't smear the ink so I made the switch.
A pretty standard ballpoint has been the only one that has worked halfway decently for me. I have some older Zebra ballpoint pens similar to these that don't ghost too badly on lower GSM paper, but I generally use higher GSM paper and my normal pens
9 pack of Zebra F-301 ballpoint pens = $15 on Amazon. I've used these pens for years & I'll never use another brand again. Every other pen is inadequate. Get the guy something he can actually use at his desk & something he might really appreciate. A pack of F-301s. Get one for yourself while you're at it.
This thread may help you. I recently bought the rOtring 2.3 and am not impressed. Skips a LOT. You may be happier with the Pilot Parallel, that looks like it will be my next pen.

You could get nice paper and a bulb syringe for cleaning all under $50. :)
edited to add, don't forget ink! goulet is a nice resource.
Sure! Here’s the link. They also have a set of different tips.
You can get a Metro on Amazon for under $12 or a Pilot Kakuno for $9.85. Then you can swap the nibs... not a huge investment.
Pilot MR Retro Pop Collection Fountain Pen, Turquoise Barrel with Dots Accent, Fine Nib, Black Ink (91436) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015XIKE2W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_svUTzbX90Q28K
A Fisher Space Pen, Mini-Sharpie and vintage brass bullet pencil in a small belt pouch. Or, a Zebra T3 and Zebra TS3 in my pocket kit.
I did a few of these a year or so ago... sadly they were pretty much garbage. I hated them within a day. About six months ago I opted to get a nice Parker Jotter and changed out the ink to [Schmidt easyFLOW 9000] (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0025ZX11S/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and I have been very happy since. Nice quality stainless steel pen with really smooth writing ink that seems to last forever.
Muji Fountain Pen
Molto comoda e dal bel design, non pacchiana come tutte le altre. La uso quotidianamente
Oppure Lamy Safari, ma pare un Panzer a confronto
Pretty sure you can use a circuit writer to replace the pad

Would the Zebra F-301 Ballpoint or Pilot G-2 Fine Point be appropriate for the criteria that I've listed?
Review of Recommendations:
Papermate Inkjoy Gel seems like a very adolescent pen. I'm looking for something more sophisticated in terms of style.
Pentel Energel is not retractable. I feel like with a cap and close type of pen I would easily misplace/ lose the cap.
