I used a scrap of kaizen foam from another project. But any foam will do. Closed cell foam will age better and not absorb water.

Individual risers are fine until you have to dust them off.. Maybe get something similar to this:

Get one of these. Cut out a crater. Glue some of these bad boys all over it. Hang it up.

u/Toolaa · 6 pointsr/longrange

Kaizen foam.

kaizen Foam

Not sure how the OP cut it, but I just used a very long exacto blade.

u/JapanimeMind · 5 pointsr/CosplayHelp

Foam clay would work well for this. If you're not too worried about perfectly smooth half-domes, roll a ball up to your size preference, then halve it. Or grab get a small mold kit with a half-dome so you don't have to worry about proportions being off.

Blue or Pink insulation board foam you can get at Home Depot (pink) or Lowes (blue) works a treat for it!

Groundcover can be as simple as painting the top of it whatever color you like, or a vinyl mat that has ground cover foam glued to it in a variety of green colors, or painting it and then gluing the ground foam on the foam directly.

Whichever strikes your fancy!

That link is to four 2'x2'x1/2" sections of foam for $20. This could be a fantastic start!

What scale are you going to work with?

You might want to replace that pluck foam with some - https://www.amazon.com/Fastcap-Kaizen-Foam-57mm-Black/dp/B007J2JJYK

Got rid of mine as fast as i could, since it's open cell and will attract moisture and also tends to react with oils

u/timeconsumer112 · 4 pointsr/SCP

I believe it's foam and hot glue. This stuff is really cool

Edit:I'm not 100% but it looks close hope OP let's us know.

You can get foam clay on Amazon, I think it's called foam-mo? It's utilized by the cosplay community all the time. Works like clay until it dries and then can be carved/sanded/etc like foam once it dries.

super 77 for foam to foam and double sided tape to hold foam to the box. That way the foam can be replaced when you fuck it up.

whats it for, both of the foams you linked are open cell. Im a big fan of kaizen foam if the foam is going to contact anything metal or electronic.

u/kjeserud · 3 pointsr/Tools

I'd recommend you buy the case you like and buy some Kaizen foam. Don't look for a case that comes with foam as it'll severely limit your options.

u/Iphotoshopincats · 3 pointsr/beyondthebump

an option if you can't find anything and are a little handy is buying something similar to this packing foam and cutting a rough seat shape and attaching it to both sides and putting in a box and it will keep anything fairly safe

u/iamthemadz · 3 pointsr/VirtualBoy

Maybe something like this?

https://www.amazon.com/Feldherr-FS100R-Bundle-Customizable-Separate-Bottom/dp/B06W5BM2FN

Its pick and pull foam. You can cut it to size then pull off foam blocks in there to make a general shape. you can probably glue them together in layers if you need it to be taller.

u/zzsnorgzz · 3 pointsr/EDC

Been wanting to do this....planning on using this:

Great Job!

u/da_na_na_na_Cat_Man · 2 pointsr/ar15

Yeah I tried that at first but wasnt very happy with the results, the pluck and pull type was really hard to just cut a form fitting shape, too soft, and I ended up ripping it even with a brand new exacto blade. This stuff cost a good bit, but it was totally worth it in regards to end quality of the entire case. It's still discounted a bit, though I did grab it when it was half off. If you go with this case, 2-¼" is exactly what you want.

u/MisterNoisy · 2 pointsr/gundeals

I used this stuff. I'm not sure what thickness/size you need, but do a search for 'kaizen foam' on Amazon and it'll cough up the sizes/thicknesses available.

u/bspcyclist · 2 pointsr/DnD

These are all great ideas. In fact, I've been thinking about the whole "different levels of terrain" thing for a while. I'm planning on a story arc where one of the party finds out their father and brothers have been captured and are being held in the "Slave Pits of Angbarel". Instead of just describing them terrain, I think I'm going to build a set piece that they will have to fight through to rescue the family.

I'm going to get 3 or 4 of these sheets of styrofoam:
https://www.amazon.com/24-Square-Foam-Sheet/dp/B00CAYAMWA/ref=sr_1_26?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1479223398&sr=1-26-spons&keywords=styrofoam+sheets&psc=1

Glue them together in a stack, and then carve out a
pit that is wide at the surface and tapers down to a smaller hole at the bottom. I'll carve in ramps to connect the different "level" of the pit. The party will have to fight the guards and other slaves that are all along the pit sides and make their way to the bottom. There they will have to break in to the holding cells below (I'll just draw that part of the map out on our dry erase table top) to rescue the family.

I think I can use a filet knife, or a small saw to carve out the foam.

As a new DM, I'm trying to bring a level of detail, creativity, and immersion to the game that the previous two DMs didn't.
This is what I have planned for them this Thursday night: https://www.reddit.com/r/DnD/comments/5cs1zb/the_village_of_perisol/

I had pluck foamin my hard case.

Works really well to get an approximate fit, but is fragile. I used a few cans of spray-on plasti-dip to solidify the shape of the cutout. Resisted deformation, heat damage, and kept everything rock solid.

As mentioned by u/RowdyKraken I tossed it to increase the utility of my case. I can hold more equipment and firearms if necessary.

If you have dedicated cases, that pluck foam with spray-on should really hold things in place. And you can do colors and make it look cool, which is rule no. 1...

u/fuzzypubiz · 2 pointsr/Silverbugs

[Kaizen foam] (https://www.amazon.com/Fastcap-Kaizen-Foam-57mm-Black/dp/B007J2JJYK) would work. You could use a hole saw or a razor to cut the diameter you need and you just peel off layers until you get the exact thickness you want. It's really easy to work with.

u/Progstu · 2 pointsr/mechanicalpencils

Its this case (was $6 when I bought it): https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B079FPQN26

Then lined it with sticky foam: https://www.amazon.com/Darice-Sticky-Back-Sheets-12-Inch/dp/B00114M6YM

u/kauai_chiver · 2 pointsr/MilwaukeeTool

Amazon has full 2’x4’ sheets of Kaizen foam for $32.50, you’d just have to cut them to fit your PACKOUT. The link is for the 57mm (2-1/4”) foam, so may have to browse for the thinner ones if that’s what you need. Fastcap does sell their own adhesive to hold multiple layers together, but you could probably use something like 3M’s Super 77, which can be found at most craft/home improvement stores. Fastcap Kaizen Foam 57mm (2-1/4”) Black

Otherwise you can buy them pre-cut fromKaizeninserts.com for your particular box. Comes in different height/color options, just cost a bit more.

u/LtEFScott · 2 pointsr/PrintedMinis

I just get cheap craft boxes like this, and then cut up a sheet of 1/4" foam to put in the bottom of the spaces.

u/datrandomduggy · 2 pointsr/CosplayHelp

Eva foam is the best because it takes to paint the best and can be glued the best and all around good to work with but other foam can work well to you can be Eva foam thinker if need be I have found Eva foam at the dollar store before all tho not named as Eva foam here is a few Amazon links for Eva foam. https://www.amazon.ca/Sheets-Craft-Cosplay-Thickness-1-10mm/dp/B07BSWRCQM/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?keywords=eva+foam&qid=1567863867&s=gateway&sprefix=eva+&sr=8-8. https://www.amazon.ca/Time-Crafts-sheet-inches-Black/dp/B0764LX5Q4/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?keywords=eva+foam&qid=1567863867&s=gateway&sprefix=eva+&sr=8-7. These are only a few one on Amazon you should do some searching yourself

u/Alexio247 · 1 pointr/Multicopter

you can find a big airsoft backpack and put a foam like this , cut it and you are surely safer than the strapped backpaks IMHO

u/sotodefonk · 1 pointr/hometheater

If pionner dont have them i dont know either, but I think you can easily adjust something for that, its not like you need to move the speaker constantly.

Something like:

  • velcro

  • rubber feet and make an ark with a cutter
  • wood blocks sanded to make an arc + velcro on top to stop vibrations
  • foam blocks
  • original speaker foam pads
  • Foam door sealers trips

I can think of several of thing you can put on the speaker to adjust it, it just depends on how you want it to look.

The cheapest would be a sheet of foam, you probably have some laying around from packages, cut it with a cutter to your desired size and just put your speaker on top, the foam will keep it in place.
u/reroll4tw · 1 pointr/photography

I do a very similar set up for backpacking. Peakclip with body on front or on the top of my bag in a foam insert (when I know the conditions are just going to suck, like when I'm snow camping) I built using this (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007J2JJYK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and extra lenses get wrapped in a fleece or with my quilt.

For biking, can you strap it to your bike? Then I could see using a pelican case or something similar.

*Open cell foam is generally bad for long term storage

You would be fine if you used closed cell polyethylene foam, which you can pick up at places like McMaster Carr or Amazon.

u/fyrestrtr · 1 pointr/mflb

I got the foam from Amazon I think it was about 12 bucks. You can get it in a bunch of different heights that suit your need. I bought sheets of Kaizan foam to line my cases. I found a specialty woodshop that sells it near me. You can also buy cases that have pluck foam inside. Pelican brand cases are the most popular but are expensive.

u/saremei · 1 pointr/oculus

I didn't go overly compact, but I did buy a cheap hard shell carry on bag from amazon and some Kaizen foam. Tore out the innards of the carry on bag and cut out slots for headset, touch controllers cameras and even a slot for my 1080 for the times that I don't need to bring a computer, but the computer at the destination needs a better card.

It accompanied me on 6 flights so far.
Here's a link to an image of it before being completed. It lacks the Video card slot. I also added some command wire hooks on the top and bottom inside of the camera half and ran two bungie cords between them to hold the cameras down.

u/BWFree · 1 pointr/knifeclub

It’s this stuff: Fastcap Kaizen Foam 57mm (2-1/4") Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007J2JJYK?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

I cut slots for them.

u/Lorben · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I know of quite a few cases but nothing that will fit all that. I think you're going to need to make your own.

With all the stuff you want to carry you could use a suitcase as the actual case to put the foam and stuff inside.

You can buy foam to make the inner of a case. The foam is cubed so you can pluck it out to make the shapes you need.

u/PikaBonk · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Saw this awhile back. Add some foam to it and you should be good to go :) a good budget option if you ask me.

If you're looking for something more customized, there's these custom sleeves that are affordable. There's also Modern Coup if you have the money and want something classier.

u/secretWolfMan · 1 pointr/3Dprinting

It's a box. It would take like 5 minutes to make in Sketchup.
But it's a BIG box. Not many people have a printer with a bed that can fit a 9x12" rectangle.
You might be better off just making this yourself with thin wood and a foam block from a craft store.

u/BotchedInitiative · 1 pointr/TerrainBuilding

Are you in the US? If so, Home Depot, Lowes, carry it in their insulation isle. You might check other building supply stores, lumber yards, etc... It shouldn't be too hard to find.

This is a bit expensive, but hey: https://www.amazon.com/Owens-Corning-Pink-Insulation-Thick/dp/B074VPZ8SS/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1550545644&sr=8-4&keywords=expanded+polystyrene+sheet

u/carpeggio · 1 pointr/LogitechG

https://www.amazon.com/Sheets-Craft-Cosplay-Thickness-1-10mm/dp/B07BL296HK

or

https://www.amazon.com/AiXiAng-Crystal-Protector-Multi-Size-Rectangular/dp/B074195BHX

(In both of these cases, I think you may find them cheaper elsewhere, havn't found yet though.)

Comes in varying thickness, I think it'll have a certain amount of 'grip' to it. And will be cleanly cut-able.

I was thinking a sheet of acrylic for it's hardness might be nice, and if I was nifty enough could sneak LED somehow into the design.

Cork is expensive, so I tried to find alternatives.
