Razer Tartarus Gaming Keypad https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EHBKUTE/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_fwKavb1Q25599

If you're a PC gamer by some chance, this should work. It's a mouse with a thumbstick and lots of programmable buttons.

u/tielknight · 16 pointsr/mildlyinteresting

It's this board but I picked mine up for $30(review clubs yo), you can find similar RGB Boards for around $60 fairly easily on Amazon(example) but they generally have Blue switches, which are loud as hell.

The one I got(the Rosewill) has a coupon on it though that makes it $85, should be EMCSRFRD6 and it came from their ad for this week.

MMORPG: Eve Online

Civilization Series, Total War Series, Faster Than Light, Xcom, Sins of a Solar Empire: Strategy

Annon Series, Europa Series, Crusader Kings, Banished: Simulation Strategy

Fall Out series with a good mouse, the targeting systems makes movement based combat minimal if you chose it to be.

Baulder's Gate Series, Dragon Age 1: RPG (Set Pause to a mouse key)

Emulate some old RPGs like FF6 or get FF7 on steam ( Set numpad as keys to easily play one handed).

I new a guy who used something like this in combination with key macros to play wow. He had one arm. -Make sure when setting up macros for online games the delay time between key strokes is random (Ie random 8-80 ms) to avoid auto macro detection.

A lot of strategy games can be played one handed if you get a good mouse with at least 5 extra buttons. Things like Warhammer 40k really only require 3-4 short cut keys.

Qisan Magicforce with Blues:

Qisan Magicforce with Browns:

Redragon K551 with Blues (Keep in mind this is the one with red backlighting. You can choose the one with no backlighting if you don’t want it. Rainbow one is a couple bucks over your budget but has set lights while the RGB one is roughly 5 bucks over your budget but has relatively programmable lighting):

https://www.amazon.com/Keyboard-Mechanical-Redragon-illuminated-ABS-Metal/dp/B016M91SS0?th=1&psc=1

Redragon K552 with Blues (The TKL version of the K551. This is the rainbow version with set colors for each switch as it’s under your budget. The RGB version is over your budget by 3 bucks. Same applies though, you can go for no lighting or just plain red for less):

https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B01LZN7MLE?th=1&psc=1

Velocifire full-size with Blues (Just know that rainbow LEDs means you cannot change the color of the switches. It is not full RGB. It’s still pretty cheap if you want at least some multicolor things, but the colors you see are the colors you get. A bargain for 26 USD though, cheaper than the Redragon K551 rainbow version, although the color of the board is harder to work into a setup compared to the K551’s straight black):

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01C8HMIES/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1523898681&sr=8-6&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=Velocifire&dpPl=1&dpID=51xyHHRfUTL&ref=plSrch

There is also a version of the VM30 with black switches and is also 25 USD. It seems out of stock right now. If you want to wait a bit on that, it’s the cheapest board I’m aware of that comes with black switches:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07BFGZ891/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1523899072&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=VM30+Black+switches&dpPl=1&dpID=51MCGebQeDL&ref=plSrch

Velocifire full size with Browns (If you’re looking at the wireless version, don’t. The wireless mode of it sucks according to everyone I’ve asked who got it. The only good thing of the wireless version is that you can run wired so that means you’re paying an extra 10 bucks for a removable cable option):

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01M0QEYR4/?th=1&psc=1

Velocifire TKL with Browns (I linked the wireless version because it seems like the wired version is discontinued. If you can find it, the wired version has blue backlighting and an attached cable for 30 USD. The wireless has a crappy wireless mode, no backlighting as far as I’m aware, but a detachable cable for 40 USD)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B076D5WVYG/

If you’re looking for something like red switches because “gaming,” just know that is pure marketing bullshit. If you’re looking at reds because you actually want them. I’m aware that the Qisan Magicforce also comes in red, but I couldn’t find the 40 dollar option. That’s the only board I’m aware of that has reds in your budget range, but I’m sure someone who knows more can throw one out.

The coolermaster? I think it's exactly $100 after rebates on amazon right now: https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-MasterKeys-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B01D3BDNF6

If that's too expensive you could try an Anne pro

u/lord-carlos · 7 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

>hey MX Browns are not much better than cheapo membrane switches.

>I only used it for a few minutes

🤔🤔🤔

>If you don't do any typing maybe go with Reds, else MX Blues all the way. The clicky click is absolutely worth it

What if you share the room? What if you have an desk mic?

Try Brown with O-rings.

>apparently they're hated here anyway

No.

>Try to find a board with RGB Blues

???

u/EnsoZero · 6 pointsr/battlestations

That one you listed was an older model that is no longer in production. Here are the two major models that Razer is producing right now:

Orbweaver (mechanical switches) Tartarus (membrane)

u/ShoutHouse · 6 pointsr/gaming

You could get him a really cool gaming keypad. Something meant for mmo's like the logitech g13 or the Razer Tartarus

Razer also has a more expensive one called the orbweaver

u/Syntaire · 6 pointsr/Overwatch

You could also look into getting something like a Logitech G13 or Razer Tartarus. They've got fully programmable buttons and a D-pad/Joystick. Might help out in your case.

u/ssscarecrow · 6 pointsr/buildapcsales

Non back lit.

If they both have red switches and have similar design, what's the difference between this and K83 that has been cheaper (and with number pad)?

u/downhillcarver · 5 pointsr/motorcycles

What kinda games do you play?

PC? This might do the trick.

Xbox 360 or Xbone? Ben Heck sells one handed controllers for both!

He's apparently also made one handed controllers for the PS4 but I couldn't find a sale page, just this Time article about it.

I know this may not help you with the big stuff, but at least it might help you with your downtime.

If you set up a Go Fund Me for this, I'll gladly help you pay for a few one handed controllers!

u/VolskayaIndustries · 5 pointsr/anime_irl

That board is only $70 though.

u/kirolm · 5 pointsr/truegaming

You could always get something like this or a similar symmetrical gaming keypad to use for gaming. Then you could have WASD and all the hotkeys you need where your right hand comfortably sits, and use the mouse on your left.

u/Brostradamus_ · 5 pointsr/buildapc

Logitech G610 w/ Red Switches. Throw some o-rings under the keys and it'll be near silent.

u/jj3570 · 5 pointsr/buildapcsales

Same price on Amazon.

u/battleshipdunkerque · 5 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

It's really just bad value. For way cheaper than an Ornata you can get a legitimate fully mechanical keyboard with better build quality.

Solid Full-Size keyboard with great quality keycaps and clicky switches

And here is a version with RGB backlighting if you really need it

u/SemperFlux · 5 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Masterkeys Pro L? Unless you really want all those Macro buttons, it's a full size w/ standard bottom row, fully individually lit per-key RGB (both configurable directly from the board and from the software that comes with it), and it's only $140 on Amazon. It also uses a shiny metal plate for insane light reflective so it's nice and bright. You can get it with MX Blues as you want too. Give it a look.

https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-MasterKeys-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B01D3BDNF6

Should be everything you're looking for.

u/Tenbroseidon · 5 pointsr/Guildwars2

Have you looked into a gamepad such as the Razer Tartarus?

While I don't have mobility issues, I do have smaller hands and cannot use a keyboard for extended periods of time without pain so have been using a Belkin n52TE (the grandfather of the Tartarus) and it is amazing. I have tried to use a keyboard in some games, and that just feels strange and ends up hurting after a bit. The keys are fully customizable, there's more of them with ease-of-access, and it's ergonomic. Between it and using the Logitech G600 (MMO mouse) I have not had to use a keyboard in about a decade unless I chose to for gaming.

I play GW2 completely with the n52TE and G600, including T4 fractals and raids, and have done so since beta with zero issues. I also use these to play games ranging from MMO's to FPS to sims to RPG's because you can easily customize what keys do what and switch things around to whatever is comfortable and makes sense to you. You can even set up a profile/keybinds for any program you use often so instead of hitting a shortcut on your computer or clicking, you just hit a single button on the pad.

I can't speak to how the Tartarus is to set up, but I don't think it's really any different than the n52TE. You install the software, plug it in, and you're good. You use the software to set up the keybinds and profiles, and once you set them up you just change between them as needed. Some models even come with on-board memory so you can take it and use it on someone else's computer and it will use the last used profile you had it on without the need of installing software on their computer.

Obviously what works for one person won't work for everyone, but a gamepad changed my (gaming) life and is probably the main reason I haven't developed wrist issues in my left hand.

u/SwammerDo · 4 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Unless you really really want the media controls I would not recommend either of those keyboards. Both are poor value and use non-standard bottom rows.

A much better choice is the Cooler Master Masterkeys which is a much better keyboard overall. I also have had some experience with Cooler Masters customer support which is excellent.

If you have to choose between the two boards you linked though, I have to recommend the Corsair.

u/Max10259 · 4 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

No problem. Glad to help.

Heres another option if you want RGB: Here is the MasterKeys Pro with RGB and Blue switches. It has pretty good reviews on Amazon.

u/pedantic_jackass · 4 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

The white Magicforce 68 with backlighting and blue switches is available for $62.99 on Amazon here.

u/EBOLANIPPLES · 4 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

It's not the best looking and it doesn't have Cherry switches, but would something like this do the job? It's way below your max budget and seems to fit the bill.

u/NoSatellite · 4 pointsr/mechmarket

Unfortunately, you’re not going to find much on this sub for less than $50.00.

You could look at the Magiforce 68 - it’s an excellent starter keyboard.

Drevo is also a good place to start. The Gramr is less than $50.00. The Excalibur is a bit more expensive, but it is also a nicer board.

Hope this helps, and GLWB!

u/clee290 · 4 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

There's the Cooler Master Masterkeys L PBT. It doesn't have dedicated media keys though, but they have them on a secondary layer (for example, Fn+Pg Up/Down for volume up/down).

u/diab64 · 4 pointsr/elderscrollsonline

I have what I think to be regular, normal hands, and even I never use the 5 key. What I do instead is bind a couple skill keys to Q and E. Then I use F for interact, V for interact with players, Z for activating synergies, X for swap weapon.

This way, my fingers never have to stretch far from WSAD.

Also, you could look into gaming keyboards with custom keys. For example, this Razer Tartarus. Those can take a little while to get used to, but I think it may really help your problem of overworking your hands.

Hope this helps!

u/DirteeCanuck · 4 pointsr/pcmasterrace

DIERYA 60%

u/qspec02 · 4 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Would something like this be a 70% then?

u/Nomsfud · 4 pointsr/pcmasterrace

$77? That seems to be close to what it retails for. Are you sure it's on sale? You can actually get it for cheaper on Amazon

Absolutely. I'll add a few here:

u/SavageKitty · 4 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Posted this in a previous thread, but these all seem a bit too expensive. For only 45 you would probably need an older board, or Khalil switches, but this is what I posted:

CM Store QuickFire Rapid is a very popular board, it is Tenkeyless, but not a 60% board. [Here is the link] (http://www.amazon.com/Storm-QuickFire-Rapid-Tenkeyless-Mechanical/dp/B0068INSUM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1410731074&sr=8-3&keywords=mechanical+keyboard
)

Corsair K70 Full size keyboard, it's a very nice build quality, but this isn't the RGB model [Here is the link] (http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboard/dp/B00IVEGSIA/ref=sr_1_1_m?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1410731192&sr=1-1&keywords=corsair+k70)

Corsair k65, it's also nice quality, again it it Tenkeyless, but not RGB. Here is the link

There are others, I'm just giving you a few.

Keyboard Seems like a banger deal for 40 bucks with nice cherry mx blues.

Mouse Should do you well, Logitech is a very reputable brand although it doesn't look too gamery it is a very good "gaming mouse" on the cheap.

Headset Gets a bit pricey but I don't want you to get garbage shit that lasts you two weeks then brakes, Corsair make pretty good headsets and this one comes with a mic so you can flame your teammates all match. If you want, you can buy it refurb for cheap.

Anyways these are all solid options for getting into PC gaming, I've had my Logitech mouse since 2014 and it's been through hell and back and it still works like new. The kb is a bit pricey for cheap wise but cherry switches are well worth the extra penny imo due to their quality.

WHATEVER YOU DO, do not get garbage keyboard that is advertised as being "memchanical" cause they suck big time. Get a cheap reddragon make sure it lists the switch on the product page though albeit be gateron, cherry, etc.

u/Gyossaits · 4 pointsr/buildapcsales

This is a no-frills board for forty bucks, no rebates required but it is Cherry MX Red, not Brown: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BMJ0Y4O/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Hey All,

I've been browsing this subreddit for a few days now, after being triggered by the WhiteFox kickstarter campaign. However, reading posts on this subs feels like tumbling down a rabbit hole, and I guess that I could use some help...

I am currently writing this message on my Razor Blackwidow Ultimate, which I bought for mainly gaming and programming. However, I've found that most "gamer-gear" is mostly fancy looking stuff but not really top-notch, so now I am into looking to upgrade my old keyboard for a newer one. Here are some of the requirements that I've identified for myself, and some stuff that I am doubtful about:

Size
I consider my Razer Blackwidow too large, and would at least like to get rid of the numpad. Also, I would not really need my function keys, except maybe for gaming.. I mostly play mobas so I guess it would just be a matter of "getting used to it" but I was wondering if some gamers could share some experience with this? Due to this requirement I am trying to decide between the WhiteFox(60%?) or a Noppoo Choc Mini 84 (75%?)

Switches
I really like the tactile switches, and do not really care too much about the sound. I feel like my Razer might be a bit too noisy but considering the vast amount of switches out there I am sure I could find some more silent tactile switches. I am not sure about the activation force as I have not had many experience with different types.

RGB
Not really a requirement but maybe nice to have..

Budget
Currently I am considering spending around $200 max, but after reading this subreddit I am starting to wonder is this would get me something that I would be happy with for a couple of years. I am a fan of buying quality which I would be happy with for years rather then cheap and having to upgrade after a year or so..

So, I am hoping someone could guide me into the right direction given my description above, or maybe challenge me on some requirements that I might not have considered. Thank in advance!!

u/NuclearL3mon · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Something like the Razer Tartarus. Uses the left hand and I believe can be used in most games.

u/Pyroraptor · 3 pointsr/letsplay

Razer Tartarus Gaming Keypad

There's also the Razer Nostromo (discontinued) and Logitech G13. Razer has an Orbweaver which comes in a mechanical keyswitch variety as well.

The K70 comes in blue switches if you like the click. I personally don't like the click so I have it in brown switches, same feel but no click.

I use a sort of keyboard "extension" which is basically the WASD keys with the keys near those, also the space bar plus some other cool stuff. I'll try to find it.

Edit: Found it

u/tehgimpage · 3 pointsr/disabledgamers

so, i found this one by accident the other day when i was browsing "naga hex" replacements... it's not one of the big 12 button mice, but i could never use those comfortably because it felt like button gloat, and my thumb would always misclick when i'd move the mouse, so this was more what i would use: Anker High Precision Gaming Mouse

seems like it has good reviews, and looks small and comfortable. and for only 20 bucks, it's worth a try. i might actually get one as a backup next paycheck cuz i really like the button layout.

EDIT: can't seem to get the link to work righthttps://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07L9S7QWW/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_aoy7CbEDXPJCC

EDIT 2: if there's not enough buttons on the mouse , i found this gamepad that isn't specifically right handed, but it looks like it's balanced enough it could be ambidextrous, and it's under 30! I also have a g710 with cherry blue switches not as noisy, but bigger. Can do 50+ 1/2 shipping for that guy! timestamps of the 710 Sold!

a lot of keyboards are branded as "gaming" but are cheap $10 keyboards with a couple bells and whistles, with a stiff premium. get him a mechanical keyboard, 100%. they can get pretty expensive, but redragon has a lot of budget mechanical keyboards that have solid feedback, a quick search returned this and this. they're the same keyboard, except the second has the numpad on the right of the keyboard. there are a lot of options from other brands, just be careful while looking to avoid the "mechanical feel" keyboards, as they aren't as durable or have as long of a lifespan.

u/vokoreddit · 3 pointsr/Philippines

Hi, in my opinion, just my own useless opinion, you could have settled for generic mouse and keyboard and use that to buy a more powerful videocard such as r7 250 or gtx 750. First, I assume you are a gamer because of the gaming keyboard stuff so a powerful video card is always better than a pseudo-gaming keyboard (I called them as lighting keyboard)

Upon checking, the keyboard is not even mechanical, thus not really a gaming keyboard. It's only for the "lights" and "feels". In my humble opinion, it's not worth to sacrifice a nice upgrade in gpu for this.

u/Pesto_Enthusiast · 3 pointsr/buildapc

The most popular keyboard/mouse combo in that price range is the Cooler Master Devastator

u/TheShosto · 3 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

English is not my native language, I'm sorry for any grammatical errors.

Hey everyone, I´m new to this subreddit but I know people here is nice, so a little back story, I've had the CM Devastator II combo since i built my PC (3 years ago), now I think it's time for an upgrade, i was looking for an affordable RGB mechanical keyboard but I'm a bit short on cash atm.

I really love the idea of visible switches, i would like a simple and minimalistic design and i don't really care if the lights are software or keyboard controlled.

I have a few options in mind:

  • HyperX Alloy FPS RGB
  • Logitech G512 or G513
  • Corsair K68

The thing is I don't have the money yet, I'd have to save for like 2-3 weeks, and my questions are:

Is it worth it to save for one of them? Is there something as good for less money? Do you have a better option for the seam price range? Also I will buy a mouse later i would like to know i these can RGB sync

Pd. I've been considering the CM MasterSet MS121 that has a mouse included and it's cheap but it is mem-chanical, is it good? or worth it?
u/Farts_of_Wisdom · 3 pointsr/buildapcsales
u/trustifarian · 3 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Easier and probably cheaper to replace the board. You can get a [Masterkeys Pro L RGB with blues for $120] (https://www.amazon.com/MasterKeys-Mechanical-Keyboard-Intelligent-Switches/dp/B01D3BDNF6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1486493487&sr=8-1&keywords=masterkeys%2Bpro%2Bl&th=1) or the Pro S TKL for $100.

Your other option is to buy a soldering iron, a desoldering pump, some switches to replace your browns, pray to whatever deity you believe in so that you don't damage the pcb when you remove the old switches. You'd also need to desolder the LEDs and resolder them once you have replaced the switches. IF your soldering skills aren't up to snuff you can damage the board beyond repair.

u/theimmc · 3 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

> This red switch keyboard feels more squishy and less clicky than my blue switch keyboard

Yes, red switches are linear (the downstroke is smooth until it bottoms out) and the complete opposite of blues in many aspect. Blue switches have an extra mechanism to produce a click when they are pressed.

You can get a Masterkeys with MX Blue: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01D3BDNF6

> Are there downsides to blue caps over red caps that I should be aware of?

Blue switches are noisier, and the extra mechanism for the click makes them less consistent.

u/jakmassaker · 3 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

I wish. It's actually the Mechanical Eagle Z-88. I really like it, and it has hotswappable switches. It has outemu blues in it right now but I'm going to buy some Cherry blues later on in the year.

DREVO but I replaced the keycaps with white ones

u/jlha65 · 3 pointsr/osugame

Well, for around 35$ there's the Drevo Gramr and Tyrfing

I have the red switches Drevo Gramr since I got an ebay $10 coupon for it and it's been quite good. I can't really compare it to top-brand keyboards because I haven't tried them, but I can confirm that it's been worth the purchase in my case.

u/kokoman90 · 3 pointsr/Keyboard

Browns are pretty decent for gaming. If your budget is under $100, you can go check out the wiki on /r/mechanicalkeyboards - over there you'll find every element you'll need to know for buying a new mech keyboard. Alas, I would suggest something like this ; https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-MasterKeys-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B072C516B9/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1522917362&sr=1-1&keywords=coolermaster+cherry+mx

u/alose · 3 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Masterkeys PBT is a better choice, but your shoulders and wrists will thank me if you go with a smaller TKL model.

If you want quiet and Clicky fo with MX Whites or Matias Quiet Clicks, or maybe just a highly tactile MX Clear.

u/Mandymandyman · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

here. Take a look and tell me what you think!

u/BlackenedPies · 3 pointsr/buildapc

I have a few keypads - the Razer Orbweaver (original), Razer Tartarus V2, Logitech G13 (great but discontinued), Genovation CP24 (not for gaming), and am set to receive the Cooler Master ControlPad soonish: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/coolermaster/controlpad-24-keys-with-analog-control/description

It's highly dependent on personal preference. If you aren't able to try them out first, I'd choose the Tartarus V2 over the Orbweaver as it's a bit cheaper and has a handy scroll wheel: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07754PYFK/

Edit: Note that Razer's software is a terrible, frustrating experience but the hardware is pretty good

You can get pretty much anything beyond a specific logo on any non-gaming keyboards. You can get media controls on pretty much any keyboard, more or less. You can get non-gaming keyboards full-sized, or TKL with a separate numpad, or a 60% and learn to use Function layers more (which is what I do, and have done, for a while, for both gaming and other functionality on a computer). You can get RGB lights on keyboards that aren't designated as "gaming" keyboards (though, admittedly, these are mostly custom keyboards, as mass-produced, mainstream, ready-made keyboards are usually designated "gaming" keyboards when they have RGB lights).

The only thing I'd recommend you look out for is to make sure it has mechanical switches, because their lifespan is much longer (than typical rubber domes on most keyboards). Mechanical keyboards last years upon years upon years, and the switches can be replaced individually (should they fail) if you're up to open the keyboard's case; on the flipside, if you want a snazzy "gaming(TM)" keyboard, then those very often see early failures in the individual LED lights that make up the RGB lighting, which are far more failure-prone.

tl;dr: Pretty much any good keyboard is also a good gaming keyboard, because good keyboards are defined by their switches and their durability; media controls aren't really used in gaming anyway, and are usually substituted with Function layer keys anyway.

Also, looking around Canadian Amazon, I realized 150 CAD is a bit less than I thought (seeing as I'm used to dealing with pounds and euros), but you could just get something like this, which is at a very reasonable price (though I haven't used this keyboard myself). On the flipside, I would warn you against keyboards like this one, which say they use "Cherry MX Blue Equivalent" switches, because the "equivalent" - especially when they don't name the switch and just say it's "Custom mechanical switches" - usually means they're some really low-quality switches, and you might find them not being nearly as durable, and feeling really weird and mushy right out of the box.

For other alternate options, you could consider this one, or something like this, if you don't care about RGB lights (because it has a few less noticeable (but more useful, in my opinion) features, like double-shot PBT keycaps, which take much, much longer to wear out and develop a "shine" on the keys; and a USB type-C connector, which is really just more convenient and more durable than the old(er) microUSB or whatever other connector a given keyboard has). It has a Space Grey colour option as well.

At the end of the day, all you need to really consider is the size of the keyboard (which you can make a bit easier for yourself by getting a separate numpad, should you really need one), the switches (which will change how the keys feel when you press them down), and programmability (i.e. whether the keys can all be re-binded or not). Everything else is tertiary, and mostly just vanity.

Sacrifice quality? Not necessarily, let me link you some of the keyboards i was looking at. You would lose rgb but gain real mechanical switches not rubber dome switch with mechanical like feel.

u/wbw4sv · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I would recommend this keyboard instead: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CDYB8AG/?tag=pcpapi-20 It's still got the Cherry MX Red and it's half the price. the only thing it doesn't have is the extra gaming keys for hotkeys. You might want a 1080 Ti, if you want to get the most out of $4000. And like /u/Jossyosrs implied $700 is too much for RAM I think. You could easily save $100-200 and get the same speed RAM

u/DoctorBerghan · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

I've been using a Logitech Wireless K750 for going on a year and a half now, and I'm about ready to put it through a wall. When it isn't interrupting fullscreened applications to warn me that it's only at 60% battery left and might die at any second (even though its battery has lasted the entire time I've had it just fine), it's interrupting fullscreened applications to warn me that it isn't sitting three inches under an industrial heating lamp and therefore doesn't have sufficient light. I'm thinking of replacing it with a mechanical keyboard.

I primarily use my keyboard for typing, not for gaming. I've only been a PC gamer for around 5 years, and have almost 15 years of experience using controllers prior to that, so I've always just stuck with what's natural to me. I do, however, do a good amount of writing, so the keyboard certainly gets used for normal typing a lot. I've done a modest amount of research over the last few days, and have come to the conclusion that I should get Cherry MX Blue switches, whatever keyboard I ultimately get, as they are designed for typing over gaming.

I've narrowed it down to three choices that I'm looking at. I'm just looking for a bit of input about what you all think would be the best.

Das Keyboard Model S

Pros:

  • I've read that Das has some of the best quality available.

  • Modestly priced compared to the 4.

  • This is the only one of the three I'm considering that has the actual Windows logo on the Windows key instead of the company's logo. Very minor complaint, but I think that's slightly on the tacky side.

    Cons:

  • I like it aesthetically the least of the three. It's just a little on the plain side. It's very utilitarian looking.

    Das Keyboard 4

    Pros:

  • I've read that Das has some of the best quality available, and this, as far as I can tell, is their top-of-the-line model.

  • More aesthetically pleasing than the Model S. It has a nice luxurious look to it.

    Cons:

  • The most expensive of the three. It's right on the border of how much I think I'm willing to spend.

  • The Das logo on the Windows key.

    Cooler Master MasterKeys Pro S

    Pros:

  • The least expensive of the three.

  • Cooler Master seems to be a favorite brand of this sub, from what I've read.

  • Reviews slightly better than either of the Das keyboards.

  • Me likey shiny purdy rainbow lights... drools

    Cons:

  • Seems more oriented towards gaming than writing, but that might just be the marketing hype. It does still have Cherry MX Blues after all.

  • The Cooler Master logo on the Windows key.

I would imagine if you opened the board up, you could solder the switches in place into the sockets. But they sit pretty firmly in the GMMK, I'm not sure why you'd want to.

It's also not the only affordable RGB kit; there's also this guy. I actually bought the GMMK over this one because I liked the low-profile case, and the hot-swapping was a cool feature (not that I saw myself doing it often, but being able to replace a switch without desoldering and for less money than the CoolerMaster just made sense.

u/davidthedemon1 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

My friend has this - https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-MasterKeys-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B01D3BDNF6 and I like it a lot.

However, the logitech g810 orion spectrum has nice Romer-G's which are nice too. It's also 100$ so.

u/Jolly_Green_Giant · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

The keyboard you linked isn't real RGB (just rainbow single colors LEDs).

For that price, I would say it's not good value.

The E-Element Z88 104 is probably one of the cheapest full RGB mechanical keyboards around.

I got this one a couple weeks ago on sale for $55 and it has been absolutely fantastic so far. That one also uses outemu switches (blues in this case). It also has true RGB backlighting for each switch which i honestly didn't expect! Also came with a keycap removal tool and 5 replacement switches. Love it.

Comes in Black and Blue switch variants and you can actually swap out the switches, no de-soldering needed. Has a number of RGB features though no individual LED control apparently.

It's my Christmas present from my fiancee this year and I'm looking forward to it pretty badly now.

u/lolSnarfSnarf · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

On Massdrop there is a sweet Varmilo VA104 that comes with Gaterons of your choice, and a KBP 60, both in mid range. For cheap and nasty this cutie is alright. It comes in black but not with clickies. I've seen it on massdrop a few times though!
I must head to bed so I will be gone for a bunch of hours, hopefully someone else can throw some recommendations!

u/dhtilly · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Amazon carries them with Outemu and Gateron switches all the time.

u/VegetaSuperSayin · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

After a few internet searches,I found out that people tend to like Gateron better.I think my mind is made up.I'm guessing this is the one you have in Brown switches?

What keycaps would you recommend?

For that price you can do MUCH better than the ASUS, and just as portable, while still keeping the RGB lighting.

Here is what you're referring to, I believe. Cherry Brown, Fullsize, and PBT. The only real downside I can think of is that it looks a little plain compared to my original choice. This will be my first mechanical keyboard, so is PBT a good enough upgrade to eschew the pretter KB?

You want something like this: https://www.amazon.com/RAZER-Tartarus-Progammable-Detachable-Mecha-Membrane/dp/B07754PYFK

I’ve used the G13 for years but they don’t make that anymore.

The left thumb uses the joystick for movement. This leaves all 4 left fingers for spell keys. She won’t get lost on the keys because she won’t be trying to contort her fingers around wasd. This setup is actually better all around, even for hard core raiders.

Thumb stick does wsqe and she will use mouse right click to turn her character. She won’t even know that a d keyboard turning exists.

I bind mouse thumb button to jump, and left thumb “click” to auto run. (Not sure if this model has a click thumb stick.

It is actually pretty quick to get used to.

I bind all the buttons to 1-90+- and numpad 0-9+-.

I do an alt key as well, but that’s probably overkill. Most players don’t need more than 20 bound spells.

I don't have cerebral palsy or anything like that, but when I started playing I could not use the traditional WASD method of moving and playing. I'm just too uncoordinated (and old) to get the hang of it. What saved me and kept me from giving up is learning that I could move by hold down the left and right mouse buttons at the same time. Then in connected this to my computer
https://smile.amazon.com/Razer-Tartarus-Progammable-Detachable-Mecha-Membrane/dp/B07754PYFK/ref=sr_1_1?_encoding=UTF8&gclid=CjwKCAjw7anqBRALEiwAgvGgm5mxYOiGAxb5418wPg2lbESDkfYDvDr-V4EZNfrDkb74wc0o9XDFaBoC-MIQAvD_BwE&hvadid=178382704711&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9011106&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t2&hvqmt=e&hvrand=5833860296193473866&hvtargid=kwd-57813446221&hydadcr=17078_9872711&keywords=razer+tartarus&qid=1565182178&s=gateway&sr=8-1

and reprogrammed it for all skills 1-10 and F1-F5. There are even a couple buttons on the side that I programmed to be the loot button (think F is default in-game).

Not sure how much function you have in your right hand, but if you have enough in your right thumb I would recommend this mouse

https://smile.amazon.com/RAZER-NAGA-HEX-Adjustable-Ergonomic/dp/B07ML6CJX1/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=razer+naga+hex&qid=1565182499&s=gateway&sr=8-4

I have the dodge and weapon swap programmed to the buttons on the side that I can press just with my thumb. I even cut small pieces of the scratchy half of velcro and stuck to every other button to help me distinguish one from the other by touch.

The way I play my right hand never leaves the mouse and the left never has to leave that dedicated side keyboard. The only time I ever do is to pull up the map, inventory, TP or something like that.

And for mounts, I use the radial-mount menu overlay that you can get here

https://github.com/Friendly0Fire/GW2Radial

I have one of the side buttons on the mouse dedicated to activating the menu at that point it's just point and click to get your desired mount.

With this setup, I'm not the best player in the game, but I can hold my own in WvW, PvP, and PvE stuff and get around just fine.

I hope you find something that works out for you.

u/domo404 · 2 pointsr/ffxiv

Yeah, it blows and it horrible when there noone else to cover.

Once you reach your goal for namazus, you're golden one less thing off your plate.

Yeah, I feel you on the dailies, it just in the back of your mind like I need to do this or I miss out on the extra exp and tomes. Just gotta balance it out really. I cut out leveling and 50/60/70 dungeons cause getting 1 level a day with msq, trial, and alliance was enough. Expert stays tho.

Agh I know that pain, hopefully he doesnt get a blister. I do have a recommendation tho. It's a side controller with a joy stick used for hotkeys might help your partner. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07754PYFK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_BfDoDbSZP5NN7

I have a red dragon mouse and as much as I love it. It cant beat this when it comes to 3 hotbars of hotkeys.

One thing at a time is the best, eventually clear out the list.

I recommend getting a house any house. So picking up a already empty plot with your specifics is easier.
Might cost more but it's better than losing it when competing with other people.

u/edgex1 · 2 pointsr/wacom

For sure! Yeah I’ve been looking at the ergo arms, but don’t quite have the money because all of it went towards the new 24Pro haha. I also have a triple monitor editing setup so I’m still trying to find a good way to get that to work.

For the programmable keypads, I HIGHLY recommend the Razer Tartarus v2. I have that one as well and it is a godsend. I only prefer the express key remote for its portability and the fact that it magnetizes to the Wacom display itself so all my work and hand movement is kept on the screen. But for sure check it out if you are interested!

Boy do I have good news for you. I just went through all of this and got myself set up.

First off, try a trackball mouse. It keeps you from having to move your shoulder so you don’t crack or dislocate it while playing. Personally, I use my thumb and index finger on the ball because it eliminates most of the problems with shaking fingers moving the pointer. This is the mouse I use. It is nice because above the ball there is a DPI switch you to change the sensitivity (is moving the ball one inch moves the cursor three inches or one half inch) which is nice for shaky hands that need to hit something precise. This model is much cheaper, and I used one forever before I bought this new one.

Then I bought a separate keypad for assigning spells/attacks. It is curved and keeps your left hand at a more natural angle, and for me dramatically reduced the number of duplicate and unintended key presses. I map arrow keys to my thumb, jump under my thumb, tab above my thumb, and shift to the bottom left corner. Unless you talk a lot in chat, you’ll never need to take your hand off of it. It also has multiple “layers” through the software, so, for me, my #1 layer is modifier keys and Numbers 1-0. My #2 layer is chat emotes and system keys (escape, etc.). If you play retail, you can also bind system macros to it, that go beyond what wow normally allows (tab target tab target tab target... for hunting rares). This is the new model of what I use. There is an older version as well, but for the meager price difference you’re better with the new one.

I know that’s a lot of money to invest for WoW, but it’s really more “general computer use”. I have all my major macros (cut and paste, etc) assigned to a third layer on that keypad, and the trackball mouse is what allows me to use the computer at all.

Good luck, and I hope you find a way to enjoy it!

u/flikkeringlight · 2 pointsr/DestinyTheGame

Maybe you should consider a controller-keyboard hybrid? This would help your movement feel more natural.

u/landonianb · 2 pointsr/learndota2

Which model do you have? 2016 and beyond or one of the older ones?

If you have a newer one, a gaming keypad is a nice luxury. The keys on them are much nicer than the butterfly switches, super easy to customize, etc. Some examples include the Razer Orbweaver and Razer Tarturus v2.

A couple more thoughts - in your case, the typical all aluminum build with brass plates might be too heavy to move around on a daily basis for your job. On the other hand, solid metal construction means it's more sturdy. You're going to have to decide if you want the metal build or plastic. Pretty much everyone on here will recommend the heavier, more premium full-metal builds, but don't let that sway you if what you're looking for is something lightweight.

Bluetooth/wireless is still somewhat of an extreme niche within the niche hobby. BUT there are options. Don't forget to search for hot swap boards on Amazon, KBDfans, and KPrepublic.

So this past Saturday night I was browsing some reddit. I happened to stumble across this photo, which awoke a desire in me to own a mechanical keyboard. Until now I thought mechanical keyboards were just a gamer thing and the only style they came in was black keyboards with RGB flashing all over the place. But seeing that picture made me realize that there is a huge variety of ways you can aesthetically customize a board. So the past few days I've spent a lot of my spare time doing research and trying to decide what I ultimate want in my "dream" mechanical keyboard. I've ordered a cheaper mechanical keyboard off Amazon for now until I've settled on what I want.

Sorry for the story, I just thought it was worth mentioning and giving you my very brief history and knowledge of mechanical keyboards (or lack thereof). Anyway, I have two questions:

  1. What are some quality 75% or higher keyboards with a completely compact design? By compact design, I mean no empty space between key groupings. Like this. I want f-keys and some kind of arrows (either actual arrow keys or a numpad with numlock). Preferably Cherry MX switches, or something that supports Cherry MX stemmed keycaps. I imagine I'm looking in all the wrong places, but I haven't seen many keyboards like that. The Red Scarf III Ver.A pictured above was part of a massdrop, and the Drevo 84 Key Gramr is a budget board. I assume the Noppoo Choc Mini 84 NKRO is my answer? Are there any others?
  2. Where can I get my hands on a nice set of SA/DSA profile keycaps? I'm in love with the Nantucket set, but they just wrapped up a groupbuy. The few times I've seen them on r/mechmarket they've either sold out super fast or are priced higher than I can comfortably pay for them. Royal Navy seems equally hard to hunt down. I also wouldn't mind a carbon/industrial look like the GMK Carbon set. I know that pimpmykeyboard has some SA and DSA sets, but I'm not too fond of any of them (and if I'm going to be spending $100+ on a keyset, I want to be happy with what I get).

u/ollee · 2 pointsr/Twitch

Provided it's your keyboard shoulder, not your mouse shoulder(or maybe even the other way around I guess) you could get real creative with one of these or some other similar keypad.

u/PwnDailY · 2 pointsr/dayz

You'll probably need a mouse that has a key board on it if those exist.

Gamepads are the closest thing.

Edit: My heart goes out to you buddy, if I had the funds, I'd totally invent a mouse keypad thing.

Edit 2: This might work as an alternative. Use your thumb to move, gonna have to get a lefty version though I suppose...

u/Combat_Wombatz · 2 pointsr/starcitizen

I would say so, but again I would say that stick + mouse or stick + programmable gamepad would be a better choice. At the end of the day, a throttle typically just doesn't have much variety of inputs. It has always struck me as a waste of a hand when I have used them in the past.

Razer Blackwidow Tournament Edition is only $60 with free shipping on amazon right now, that's pretty damn cheap.

u/Kant_Lavar · 2 pointsr/swtor

My personal plan when I replace my mouse and keyboard is the Razer Deathadder 2013 and Razer BlackWidow Ultimate 2014. I picked the latter on recommendations from several folks, both personally and in /r/mechanicalkeyboards, and the former because I currently use a Deathadder mouse that's been with me since 2009 and is just now starting to have an issue with one of the side buttons. Combined with regular shipping should still be well shy of your $200 budget limit.

Ok so I just built my first gaming PC and I'm looking to replace my 4 year old $35 Saitek keyboard. Budget this time will be around $100 unless it's amazeballs and perfect for me, then maybe another $50. I live in the USA and there aren't many stores that carry mechanicals that I can try. The only ones I've found in stores are the Logitech G910 Orion Spark, which I liked the look and features of but the keys felt like any other keyboard, a TT eSports Poseidon Z that was alright, but I want a wrist rest and red or white lights (my computer is a red/black theme with red LEDs), and a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate that was my favorite for feel, but I've heard bad things about their keyboards and would go for the chroma if I took it. I've also been looking at the Cougar k700 because I like it's styling, the extra raised wrist rest, and few extra macro keys.

Before this computer I had been mostly using laptops as my computers, so I'm used to my wrists being about level with the keys and want a wrist rest (but I could always buy a separate one). I would like clear feedback that my keypress has been registered, but an audible click isn't really necessary.

I'm open to the idea of going to a tenkeyless, but it's not necessary.

TL;DR - Want a keyboard for gaming that will go with my PC's red/black/white theme. Limited switch samples, liked the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate the best. Wrist rest is favored. Newegg is favored ($20 gift card). Open to TK. Budget around $100 USD. Will buy in USA.

u/nMetrics · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

There's a Blackwidow backlit edition with only green LEDs, doesn't have the full RGB spectrum but if it's only green you want it would be cheaper. (Done shamelessly talking up the blackwidow, bye)

Mechanical board. It is a matter of choice at that point. You don't need programmable keys for gaming, but can be nice for mmos. I prefer linear switches for gaming. Corsair makes compact gaming boards (the K65) full boards (K70) and a large prgrammable mmo board (K95). And their boards offer MX Red, Brown, or Blue. So, it has a lot of options for your gaming needs.

This is going to sound biased because I have it, but this keyboard was voted as the best keyboard by PC gamer as well.

I have had the keyboard for about a year though. Just so happened that it was the top one in this article. I did have a cherry mx blue version before, but others couldn't stand the clicking. Browns do have a louder sound than rubber dome keyboards though, so keep that in mind.

> I'm a lefty as well. I'd like to use main control with my left hand if possible. Are sticks designed to be for right hand use at all or are they amibidextrous tools?

Hello fellow lefty. As I am sure you already know the gaming industry always has, and always will, hate us. The best we can typically hope for are ambidextrous tools, though I hear one of the Thrustmasters is reversible.

The stick I use is very basic but suits all of my needs, and is also plug-n-play which is a bonus for me because I just lost usage of my favorite usb gamepad after over 10 years of faithful service due to abandoned driver support.

Unfortunately when it comes to throttles I have yet to find any that are ambi, so I use another usb peripheral for my right hand that is also plug-n-play. Like some one else suggested you could use two sticks, but I find that limiting actually.

Found a couple.

TTe Posideon Z, Azio MGK1, the G710 also goes on sale quite a lot.

The Posideon Z has a non-standard bottom row and IMO looks meh, uses either Kailh or Otemu (both blues) switches (I assume it's the former).

The MGK1 looks quite solid and it has a standard bottom row along with white LEDs and a wrist rest, only real "downside" is that it uses Kailh switches, which really aren't "bad" just they're not as well known, Kailh blues more specifically.

The G710 uses Cherry MX blues, but it also has a non-standard bottom row and IMO looks too 'gamery'.

Recommendations help please. Looking for my first mechanical keyboard:

  • Standard (all keys included)
  • Wired
  • No "ghosting"/NKRO (I think it's a given?)
  • Prefer no backlight but if I can turn it off then fine.
  • No need for additional macro keys.
  • Don't know what switch types I want, never tried. Prefer not too loud.
  • Obviously something that doesn't break after a few years.

The tricky part is that I would like it to be under 75$ after shipping to Israel because otherwise there's a big jump in price due to import charges. I managed to find the Vara k551 for 45+15$ which seems decent (don't need the lighting there and I read that they are very loud). Just looking for more options, I don't need much so don't want to pay much. Yes, I did come across the Chinese 15$ stuff - no thank you :)

    Thanks!
u/n3onis · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

I have a Chinese VicTsing mechanical keyboard for ~$45 with Outemu blue switches. It's been doing its job for more than a year now and have nothing bad to say about it. The build quality is really good with a heavy, metal backplate. The actuation point of the switch is at the exact same position as the tactile feedback, although you can keep pressing the key if you hold it below the bump (read it's the same with Cherries). Definitely worth the money in my opinion if you aren't willing to spend big bucks on a keyboard.

I wanted to go with Redragon K552/K551 (numpad version) but it was hard to get in Europe. I would recommend it if you are from the US. Redragon seems to be a popular choice in cheap peripheral alternatives. Their keyboard also uses the Outemu blue switches.

Gigabyte Mechanical Cherry Red Keyboard (GK-FORCE K83 RED)

If not, is there any other good deal you'd recommend? Preferably at Newegg since I have a gift card but if it's a good deal I'll shop elsewhere

RGB would be nice, I also only have experience with black and green switches but I'm willing to branch out (was looking at browns mainly)

u/vitaminainspector · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

There's plenty of good mechs for less than the price of the k55. The E-Element z88 is full size with all the RGB you could want, and a few switch types (also comes in a more compact layout if you want that). If you want cherry switches for whatever reason there's this Gigabyte Board with kinda crummy keycaps but 2 switch options and I've personally been using it for a few months and I like it fine. Point being that there are plenty of mechanical keyboards for less than the $50 dollar price point and those are just the ones I've used (or used their equivalent) so I'm using those for examples.

  • G4560 vs i5 750 = http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Pentium-G4560-vs-Intel-Core-i5-750/3892vs2773 . The G4560 came out earlier this year and is the first non quad core chip to be able to handle modern games, I was playing The Witcher 3 on it yesterday (which is a very CPU demanding game) and it ran it very well. The 750 is just too old to be able to run much that has come out for the last several years at this point.

  • 1050 TI vs 6870 = http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-1050-Ti-vs-AMD-HD-6870/3649vsm7744 . The 1050 TI is newer, has better compatibility with modern games, takes up less energy (saving you money back on your GPU), will have better warranty etc and just general lifespan from being bought as new and really is just flat out the better option. The same build I was playing The Witcher on (and tested a few other titles like Shadow of Mordor and Arkham Knight which are also very demanding for graphics) and I was able to get high settings at about 47-52fps (medium settings for the CPU stuff, high for the GPU stuff). You can also move up to a 470/570 GPU for about $240 or a 480/580 for about $280 more for even more performance if you wish. I would not recommend going for an RX 460/560 or the GTX 1050 (non TI) as both are likely to struggle on some games already, and even moreso in the very near future. It would be saving $20 today only to have to buy a whole new GPU porbably in a years time.

  • RAM = http://ram.userbenchmark.com/Compare/GSKILL-Value-DDR4-2133-C15-1x4GB-vs-GSKILL-Ripjaws-DDR3-1600-C9-1x4GB/m109263vsm90810 . The link also does not seem to factor in that it is double the amount of RAM, the difference would likely be 3x as much rather than just 2x as DDR4 is newer and faster. These are not comparisons of the exact models, just showing a 4GB DDR3 stick vs an 8GB DDR4.

  • The PSU is a good, reliable unit from a known brand and is easily the best available under $40 (it's also on $20 discount so buy it asap as they only last very for a day or two usually... if not, the EVGA 100 400W model is the only other PSU under $40 worth considering - a bad PSU can destroy everything inside your case so never, ever got for a $20 no name model). Your system is also only 224W or half of the PSU's capability, meaning it will run really well and silently, and will give plenty of space for future upgrades without needing to get a new PSU.

  • The case was just the lowest cost one available - anything labelled 'ATX' or 'MATX' will do fine if you want something else. Just keeping the cost down.

  • Other notes: Any system at this cost will not come with on board wifi. An ethernet cable will work for internet connectivity, but if you want wireless you can just pick up a USB or PCI wifi adapter for probably $20 or less... if you plan on using a gamepad for gaming this one fine on mine - https://www.amazon.ca/Cooler-Master-Devastator-II-SGB-3030-KKMF1-US/dp/B01CDYAF28/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1496749283&sr=8-1&keywords=devastator+keyboard - and you can get a cheapo mouse/keyboard combo for around $10-15... if you plan on using the mouse/keyboard for gaming you can get a decent knockoff one on Amazon for $20-30 or an Xbox 360 one for $40... if you need a monitor (I use the TV/projector personally), you can probably get one for $80 or less on Kijiji/craigslist/ebay/etc (or a 28-32" 1080 TV screen, was living in Toronto for a while and that seemed the going rate on kijiji in the GTA)

First of all, I should say that I am basically a beginner in the /r/MechanicalKeyboards world. However, I have had my Noppo for about 4 years or so now so I like to think I am somewhat knowledgeable. What I love about my current keyboard seems to be quite rare as far as I can tell in the keyboard world, unless I am just stupid. As you can see the Noppo features the f1 keys tiered directly above the number keys and not up and off to the side like most keyboards. It is kind of like a laptop or Mac keyboard in that sense. If anybody out there knows what this type of keyboard is called or if there are more manufactures out there that make keyboards like the Noppo I would greatly appreciate the help.
I should also clarify I enjoy this keyboard for gaming, (MMO's mostly) and that is the reason I enjoy the F1 keys being the way they are. Shout out to Reckful for who I discovered the Noppo from.

The Noppoo Choc Mini is an 84 key keyboard (smaller than tenkeyless) and has a layered numpad on thee keyboard (hold down the function key to activate it). You can see which keys are the numpad by the legends on the front of the keycaps.

Here's what you want, rather than a keyboard, because a keyboard is inferior to a game controller for movement, due to its lack of a joystick - with the default keybinds, characters can't reload while stepping to the right, which is hilariously awful.

It's not mechanical and the joystick sucks (but is a lot better than not having one!), but the only other options on the internet cost a downright comedic amount of money more (such as Razer's other option, the Orbweaver).

I'm currently trying to decide which I want to prioritize more - a gaming mouse or a gaming headset. My mic is awful, but it's damn hard finding fellow players with the intelligence to turn on team chat.

u/mr-hasgaha · 1 pointr/starcitizen

You're switching between the keyboard and HOTAS for flight vs FPS stuff? Yeah, I haven't figured that one out yet either. I feel like having a keypad thingy in between my sticks would be ideal. I'd then have a straight line of peripherals: Left stick, keypad, right stick, mouse.

u/Avvikke · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

The controller joystick is better for physical player movement.

http://www.amazon.com/Razer-RZ07-01030100-R3U1-Tartarus-Gaming-Keypad/dp/B00EHBKUTE

That's why PC has these things. I'm getting one soon. WASD is pretty much inferior to the left side of a controller.

The mouse...however...is where it's not even close. Look/aiming accuracy, mouse wins.

u/DangerG · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

For years I used one of these for all my art related activities. It freed up so much space for my drawing tablet, but it also didnt make me have to sacrifice functionality for shortcuts and key combos.

Same probably applies for gaming and there is a reason some people build little "game pads" which is just programmed with the buttons they need for gaming.

u/M3TALL1K · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Programs like Xpadder will enable you to map whatever buttons you need to a controller, while mice like the Logitech G600 have so many buttons that can be bound to keyboard commands too. I think that the mouse has got you covered for most of the stuff that you'll need to do in game and we've only got movement left to worry about. There are small gaming pads like this that have a little joystick for your thumb, or like someone else suggested, a full joystick could be used too, really depends on your mobility.

For optimum MWO goodness I recommend a good gaming mouse with 10 buttons and a Razer Tartarus.

I have the callus like the picture of the asians as well, but I got the cyst a long time ago. I can't tell for sure when I got it but its not bothersome at all. You can see it but you can't feel it and it never hurts or anything. I think they are caused just from moving your tendons in your hand a lot in a way that they don't like, suck as using a keyboard or mouse while having your hand oriented in a certain way (perhaps in such a way that a razer nostromo or a Razer Tartarus (which I now use) requires your hand to be)

The Razer BlackWidow costs 70$ and has mechanical keys. I love this because you have a noticable "click" when pressing in the keys which makes more very dynamic and precise gameplay.

In addition to this, you need a mousepad. It doesn't have to be a good/expensive brand, but make sure it's LARGE. It recently bought a huge mousepad and it is sooo nice being able to play without being scared to roll over the edge. Lower DPS improves your aim, so you may have to move around your mouse a lot from time to time. This is a gamechanger.

If you don't have 120$+ to spare on equipment, just go on Amazon and search for "gaming mouse / gaming keyboard". Most results will be very affordable and still cheap.

For example, I am currently using this gaming mouse for only 14$. It's perfectly fine in my opinion and quite nice.

I'm not sure what switch type it is, but this is what I use. I like it, no complaints. It's pretty loud, but you get that with pretty much all mechanical keyboards.

u/Farlo1 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Sorry for the potato quality picture, my Nexus 5 is not a fan of the bright lights on mostly black surfaces.

Finally got a decent mouse and keyboard after using a $15 wireless combo forever. Keyboard is a 2014 Razer Blackwidow Ultimate and the mouse is an Anker CG100. As the first mechanical keyboard I've ever used I must say it is simply glorious! The mouse is decent (tons of settings and fairly linear) but the biggest thing is that it's one of the few I could find that fit comfortably in my giant hands.

This and This while theyre older, and one's refurbished, they may meet your specifications.

Some people also have an objection to razer, I know the K40, which is a much cheaper board also has a normal key. Mist decent keyboards from big name manufacturers will have a regular enter key.

CM Storm has a backlit mech with volume controls as FN keys under $100.

Steelseries 6gv2 no backlight, but has volume control with FN keys and is mechanical. Beware, the key caps are known to fit loosely and come off easily.

There are some Razer Black Widow mechs in that price area.

Are you looking for a 10-key pad or would you not miss it?

This was my first mechanical keyboard. Blue switches, really solid build quality. Keys felt good, and for the price it really impressed me. The space bar can be a bit finicky since the switch is on the middle and the springbar inside is kinda iffy, but one minor problem for the price it is isn't bad.

I know you said you wanted to like corsair, but I would try the Corsair K70 if you can. It's what I have now (with red switches) and I love it. That said, I don't recall if it comes in blue with RGB.

This isn't RGB but it is blue switches on a K70

I recommend investing in this If you don't have a specialized store (like a Micro Center) near you that'll have a display with multiple switches. That way you can test which one you like best and make a decision from that.

u/Azhdar · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

This one is slighty above your budget , so it shouldn't match your needs .

If you're looking for a Board with backlit and numpad , you can't really go cheaper , and this are 2 good boards , good choices !

Go rosewill if you like double led system , go CM storm if you want to save some place on your desk .

u/Dont_Doubt_Me · 1 pointr/keyboards

Alright, I use a shit keyboard anyways that I have to push down fully for a key to enter.. Also if you dont mind, can you share me a link to a website or ebay where I can buy those rubber rings ?

u/catonaut · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Good luck with the interview! If you really like the K70, you could replace it with a K70 with Cherry MX Blue or Brown switches. http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboard/dp/B00IVEGSIA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1397484841&sr=8-2&keywords=corsair+k70+blue

u/Malivil · 1 pointr/gaming

I agree with /u/FullDerpHD - I use a K70 (the one below that one he linked that doesn't change colors) and a Logitech G500. You can see their current line of gaming mice here.

The Corsair keyboards come with different mechanical switches if you like one type over another. I personally like the click feeling without so much of the noise, but my wife likes the noise so we got slightly different versions.

You can go here to see the different versions of the switches that Corsair uses and then you can get the keyboards with the different switches here: Cherry MX Blue Cherry MX Brown Cherry MX Red

u/jconduah · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Enjoy, I have the Black/Red K70 with MX blues. Its awesome (and my first Mech).

EDIT: Formatting mistake

u/Pashow · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Neither. If you're serious about gaming and spend a lot of time playing, you don't want Browns or Blues. Those are for typing. I recommend you look into boards with Cherry MX Reds like the Corsair Vengeance K70 or the K65 if you prefer a smaller form factor.

If neither of those keyboards appeal to you, do some research. Find keyboards with the right switch (Reds as far as I'm concerned) and see which one you like best.

u/MehStrongBadMeh · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Hm, seems the non-RGB K70 is still available with MX Blues.

If lacking RGB is a deal-killer, then your best options for a RGB K70 with blues are to try and get one secondhand or buy it with a different switch type and then manually replace all the switches with RGB-blue switches yourself.

u/zizx · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Two

Edit: or if anyone has a suggestion on a keyboard under about $125, for blue mx switches it would be appreciated.

u/tricket10 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Ahh, Ultimate is the key word for the one with the backlight. :) I think the Corsair K70 also comes in a cherry MX blue variant: http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboard/dp/B00IVEGSIA

But if they're don't, I can recommend the Corsair Strafe/CM Storm Quickfire Ultimate/ Das or Ducky keyboards. I think these are some of the best ones with the Cherry MX Blue switches. Hope you can get one as i've read online that MX Blue's feel better than the Razer green switches but that's based off the opinion of other people. Also would recommend the HyperX Cloud II and Logitech G502 for your headset/mouse as /u/E-Man1864 suggested.

EDIT: And yes the Cherry MX Blue switches are what you should be looking for that audible feedback when a key is pressed.

I am a lefty too and VERY lefty as in, I really cannot get used to doing things the right handed way like some lefties can. I feel your pain. Not many gaming companies cater to us.

It's not a keyboard and I am not sure if you know but Razer does a left handed version of their Naga mouse which has 12 buttons on the side that you tap with your thumb and can be set to anything of your choice. This is a complete lifesaver and the options are endless for what you can bind to them.

If I were to get a keypad i'd go for something like this https://www.amazon.com/Delux-46-Key-Gaming-Keyboard-Backlight/dp/B00QE1XH8Q/ref=pd_lpo_147_lp_t_4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=RP7XR02AJGV8S5A28BQG as it seems like lefties or righties could use it no problem, no gigantor thumb stick in the way.

u/Naedlus · 1 pointr/truegaming

Have you pondered looking into keyboard devices similar to a Nostromo?

Most of them seem to be intended for left hand use, but some, such as this one from Delux seem as they may work well for a WASD cluster that you can use with your right hand.

u/Skyrunes · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

(All links are Amazon) These are things not everyone thinks of, but I really love having as part of my setup.
If it appeals to you, you could ask for a gaming keypad/gameboard whatever you want to call it. The famous ones are made by Razer and Logitech but I got a 20$ one that I love. Gives me so much room on my mousepad and is very comfortable to use.

Another good one is a mouse bungee. A popular one would be the Zowie Camade, but there are cheaper ones as well. I have one that is also a USB hub.

You know what? Scratch my above comment,I have this gaming keypad that is like half a keyboard with an incredible wrist wrest, I would recommend it as long as you have a full keyboard already to go with it. Good to know, I honestly had no idea what a game pad I'd only seen in control menus before. I'm using the Aula Befire (I know it's not great, I've only had this computer for a year or so and I'm young, so this was a keyboard I got as a kind-of temporary one) and the one handed keyboard I use is the Delux T9. They're both not great, but they'll do. This glitch only happens every couple months or so, and I wouldn't be surprised if it were the game itself as that's the only place it seems to happen, can't say for sure though.

Then each app I have keyboard shortcuts I want to use or functions/scripts I want it to run I have mapped to the board. It works great and runs globally in any application.

u/wr41th · 1 pointr/summonerschool

Fellow lefty here. My advice to you and other lefties would be to get yourself a left handed mouse and the keyboard linked below. It isn't the coolest looking keypad, but it has space bars on both sides of the keypad and you can't get that from any other design. (Yet)

https://www.amazon.com/Delux-46-Key-Gaming-Keyboard-Backlight/dp/B00QE1XH8Q

Only issue with it is that the key to swap ur wasd to directional buttons is easily hit on mistake and can ruin a game for you. Luckily it button pops out and back in easily. I take it out anytime I'm doing serious gaming.

To add on to this, for a beginner mechanical keyboard (something that's loud, tactile, and fun to use) I suggest the Logitech G710, a solid keyboard with 18(6x3) programmable keys and adjustable backlighting. It also has media keys and a volume control on it, plus a Gaming Lock Key (disables the Windows key) to prevent your game from switching out. It also has a USB input on the keyboard itself. It's a bit more expensive, but it comes from a trusted company and has legitimate cherry switches. Enjoy!

The anne pro is the keyboard I'm currently using. It's a little bit over your budget but it's amazing. Really well built, has bluetooth, a ton of different RGB modes and customizations, and it's small and will easily fit on any desk.

idk bud, but I wouldn't recommend getting the chroma, don't get me wrong its a nice keyboard but the price tag on that....hmmmm

In just saying there are just as nice keyboards out there with the same quality, just doesn't show the OW logo or the Razor logo.

I have a nice keyboard coming in the mail today, got it on cyber monday for $55 bucks. It'll get the job done. But hey if you have the money for it go for it. On the razor page (i forget) I read that it would be "coming soon" no set date as of yet

Completely new to mechanical keyboards, looking to buy my first one hopefully with a budget. Currently looking at K551 VARA by Redragon. Would this be a good for someone new to mechanical keyboards or is there some other options for a full size/ under $50 USD?

I'm looking for a new keyboard, since i'm not liking the both one's I own right now. I have a Razer Cyclosa, and a Thermaltake eSports Challenger Prime, and both ain't cutting for me anymore. I use the KB to mainly play FPS and RTS, since I use a DS4 for any other games (TPS and such). What I'm looking is a compact mechanical wired keyboard, and must have RED lighting. There's no need of RGB, but backlight is a bonus, also the numerical isn't necessary. The only one i have in mind right now is this one. I don't want to expend more than 80 dollars on it (which maybe its not enough, i know) but less is better. Any suggestions?

I just use the default Dell OEM mice/keyboards here, but at home I have a Redragon K551 and a Logitech MX Master 2S (after my dumbass broke my OG MX Master).

A bunch of users have ergonomic mice here at the office, and I do think I'm going to invest in the Amazon Basic version of that mouse for myself when I order more for the office. I am not getting a mechanical keyboard, because the clacking is somewhat obnoxious, but I did opt to get an actual wrist rest for my desk after years of not having one.

Great motherboard for your build ! Best in class for the b450 platform IMO.

Few suggestions:

Cheaper yet more than decent keyboard

Take a safer/better SSD from a reputable brand: At least a DRAMless drive like a Crucial BX500 or a Kingston A400.

Here is a better, safer PSU for long term: the EVGA Supernova G2 550W

The stock Ryzen 2600 cooler is more than fine unless you plan on overclocking your stuff. You could save a little bit there instead of getting a single-fan AIO solution.

For the RAM, I can't really speak as I've never looking into 2x4Gb kits. Somebody else could review that.

u/Yukaihan · 1 pointr/buildapc

These may not be wireless, but that might not be ideal for gaming anyways.

Here are some well-regarded yet surprisingly cheap mechanical keyboards. These should last a long time for their cost.

https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-Backlit-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboard/dp/B016M91SS0

I don't know what you mean by scrolling text however.

The 2nd keyboard is much more expensive since it is bigger. If your son doesn't need the numberpad or has limited space, the first keyboard might be a good pick.

It is also generally better since the smaller keyboard puts your arms closer together which is a more ergonomic position.

Hi,

Don't know if you're still looking for one but the Gigabyte K83 is an excellent keyboard. It comes with cherry reds and there's no backlighting of any kind but if you don't mind that, you can get it for as low as 2.4k (nehru place, new delhi) and it's currently available on amazon for 3.4k. It was my first board and is highly recommended.

If MX Red switches are fine for you, and you want something super cheap for the office, you could go with this https://www.amazon.ca/GIGABYTE-Mechanical-GK-FORCE-K83-RED/dp/B01BMJ0Y4O/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1542506245&sr=8-4&keywords=mechanical+keyboard for under $50 and just throw a PBT keycap set on it. That's what I did for my work keyboard - granted I only go in the office 1 day a week typically and work from home the rest, and it feels decent enough.

the K83 has cherry mx switches, "cherry" being a name brand, it's not backlit so the keycaps are printed and some people had letters wear off

the XK700 is rgb backlit but you can set the colors to a single color if you want, I think the keycaps are double shot so lettering shouldn't wear off, also the switches are a knockoff brand of cherry mx

The K55 isn't mechanical, just a heads up. It's not half bad as a membrane keyboard though If you want mechanical with white backlighting, the Logitech G610 has sold on amazon for $60 a few times and uses Cherry MX Reds. There's also the Gigabyte Force K83, which lacks dedicated media and volume keys and backlighting, but is a steal at $40 (an LED desk lamp can kinda solve the lack of a backlight. Not sure if you're aware but there's a CM Devastator II out. I'm linking you trusted and reliable, quality parts. You can find things cheaper than what I'm linking you.

$50 headphones with mic

You can keep your current keyboard and mouse. I'm using a generic dell keyboard and generic dell mouse right now, and I have absolutely no disadvantage in games. If you want it though, $25 cheap KB+M bundle with LEDs

Also remember, you can still use your TV for your PC.

$100 60 FPS 1080p monitor

With what I linked you, you have $325 left to build a PC. Are you buying used or new parts? Building a PC that will outperform a console at this price won't be hard at all with used parts, but it can be a bit of a hunt with new.

/r/buildapcsales

I just want to say this too, even if you spend $800 on a PC it will still be cheaper in the end than console. PC games are always on sale with high cuts. Look up some of your favorite games on ITAD for a price history.

Oh absolutely.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/sPYnwV

This is actually one I just edited for someone else, but this will absolutely fit the description at high/ultra [except maybe subnautica, I don't know how that one performs]. With a budget of $500, that doesn't leave a whole lot of room for peripherals like a monitor, speakers, keyboard/mouse, etc., but budget options are out there. Here's one now - https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-Devastator-II-SGB-3030-KKMF1-US/dp/B01CDYAF28/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1486919533&sr=8-1&keywords=cm+storm+devastator+2+blue. Keyboard and mouse with blue LEDs for $20, but it's an actually decent mouse and pretty awesome keyboard.

edit:: Just noticed you said you want to avoid mATX, it's actually not scary. The difference between ATX and mATX is like 3 inches iirc, and how difficult it is to work on is determined by the case more than the motherboard form factor. This one is pretty spacious, you'll do fine.

u/SpasmFingers · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Function vs Aesthetic
I really like how the vortex vibe looks, but I very often use the arrow keys, page up/down, and media keys (music play/pause, next song, etc) so something like the K70 is certainly appealing to me feature wise.

I've been using [this](https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-Devastator-II-SGB-3030-KKMF1-US/dp/B01CDYAF28/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1540099619&sr=8-3&keywords=cm+storm+keyboard) for about 8 years now, so I assume whatever keyboard I get next will be my only keyboard for a while. I want to make sure I make a choice I won't regret, and right now I think that means the k70, but I'm not sure, what do you guys think?

So I tried switching the sticks around and did the memtest86. When I switched the sticks to A1/B1 they had the same performance as in A2/B2. Still 4 GB reserved, my mobo still says it's in single channel mode while CPU-Z says dual channel. When I used only one stick in A2 here's what task manager showed. Looks like the reserved memory dropped to 47.0 MB and the available memory is still 4 GB. And here is CPU-Z. So basically it looks like I'm getting the same performance with using one stick as with using two, correct? That seems like a problem.

I then did the memtest86 with the sticks in A2/B2. Here is the summary and here is the benchmark graph. The summary says my total physical memory is 4 GB, which appears to back up what I saw in task manager. Is my mobo not using both sticks? I don't know how to interpret the results of the graph.

> Can you think of any other hardware connected which might need to reserve so much RAM?

Aside from what's in the list in the OP, I have this kbm and also a wired Xbox 360 controller that are regularly connected. It says 128 MB RAM are needed for the controller and I am unsure about the kbm.

>try testing with default Bios settings or clear CMOS, or update the motherboard Bios.

How would I go about doing this stuff? Should I download the BIOS from their website?

Edit: I updated the BIOS to 3.40 but it still says the memory is in single-channel mode. The hardware reserved RAM is now at 4.1 GB.

Edit 2: Here is the page file usage. Don't really know what to make of it.

Hey all, I'm looking for a new keyboard to pick up this Black Friday, but I've never bought a mechanical keyboard before. I don't really care much for RGB, and while I would like to have my keyboard be Logitech so that I don't have to install any other drivers, it isn't a very high up priority.
These factors led me to be looking at the [Logitech G610] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CDYB8AG/ref=twister_B0728L4V8P?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) but it does have two different switches, the Cherry MX Browns and the Cherry MX Reds. I live with people, so I would like my keyboard to have a slight click but nothing very annoying. If you guys could give me a suggestion on which switch, or even another keyboard entirely it would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

u/Dalarrus · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Really need to know what kind of switches you want/like.

EG: Linear, Tactile, Clicky etc.

Also, full keys, or 10 keyless(Normal keyboard - numpad)?

If you want a standard full keyboard layout, and linear switches, like Cherry MX reds, I'd suggest The G610, you can get it in either CherryMX Reds('silent' linear) or Browns('Silent' Tactile), and it has white backlighting, along with full media controls and a nice tactile knob-y thing for adjusting volume, if that's your jam, you can get the Cherry MX red variant for 60$ on Amazon right now

u/NorthStarPC · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

Alright, here’s a balanced build that really takes all parts of the PC to account (performance, aesthetics, thermals, efficiency).

CPU/MOBO: https://www.microcenter.com/product/5003163/AMD_Ryzen_5_3600_with_Wraith_Spire_Cooler,_Gigabyte_X570_Aorus_Pro_WiFi,_CPU_-_Motherboard_Bundle

I’m seeing that people are suggesting B450 boards. While that is fine, I would like to point out that it would require a BIOS update and the BIOS update on MSI and other models have major problems. Plus, you are giving up on future PCIe 4.0 and OC features.
Also, the OP does not prioritize Multi-Core performance, so the Ryzen 5 3600 would definitely be a better value-for-money choice if 1080p Gaming is the main focus. The 3600, also, will deliver above average performance in moderate editing and workstation performance. This $420 bundle at MicroCenter will provide you with a mid-ranged X570 Motherboard as will as a capable CPU to minimize bottlenecks.

GPU: I really don’t know what to do here. I would definitely recommend 5700XTs for what you’re doing. However, all 3rd Party graphics card models are out of stock nearly everywhere. Definitely don’t purchase a blower card, as other models offer better base and boost clocks and thermals. I would personally wait for the MSI Mech OC, PowerColor Red Devil, or Sapphire Pulse to come. But if you want to build ASAP, I would consider this: https://www.microcenter.com/product/610784/Challenger_D_Radeon_RX_5700_XT_Overclocked_Dual-Fan_8GB_GDDR6_PCIe_40_Video_Card

RAM: https://www.microcenter.com/product/608780/Vengeance_RGB_Pro_16GB_2_x_8GB_DDR4-3600_PC4-28800_C18_Dual_Channel_Desktop_Memory_Kit_CMW16GX4M2Z3600_-_Black

16GB is pretty much recommend for many newer titles and workstation applications. But really, RAM frequency is important to Ryzen, and 3600MHz seem to be the “sweet spot” for 3rd-Gen Ryzen. Plus, I went with RGB RAM as they are relatively cheap currently.

SSD: https://www.microcenter.com/product/511204/660p_1TB_SSD_3D_NAND_QLC_M2_2280_PCIe_NVMe_30_x4_Internal_Solid_State_Drive

A lot of people will suggest this model for value-to-performance, and they aren’t wrong. In 1TB NVMe SSDs, the 660p holds a position near the top for value. It will provide you with relatively fast load and boot speeds. True, there are better SSDs out there, but you really don’t need more than this for gaming and browsing and even lighter workstation. Plus, 1TB of SSD Storage is more than enough for your most played games and the OS.

HDD: https://www.microcenter.com/product/415197/Blue_Mainstream_2TB_5400RPM_SATA_III_6Gb-s_35_Internal_Hard_Drive

Really not too much to explain here. This is just a good quality drive as your secondary storage for videos, pictures, documents, and other games that are less important to you (no one likes deleting games due to storage limitations in order to install new games).

PSU: https://www.microcenter.com/product/502044/650_Watt_80_Plus_Gold_ATX_Semi-Modular_Power_Supply

So this is a MicroCenter PowerSpec branded power supply. This is a 650W 80+ Gold rated unit and it should be enough to power everything. I would not recommend anything lower that this. 80+ Gold is pretty much the standard in $1,000+ values PCs. Definitely don’t get a generic PSU though, as those may kill the system in case of an error or capacitor failure.

The Case and Cooling will be better if bought online via Newegg.

AIO Cooler: https://www.newegg.com/cooler-master-masterliquid-ml240l-rgb-liquid-cooling-system/p/2YM-0004-00015?item=2YM-0004-00015

This is kind of optional. This cooler will make the build look cooler (RGB) and provide better thermals and OC efficiency.

Extra Fan: https://www.newegg.com/cooler-master-r4-120r-20pc-r1-case-fan/p/1YF-0010-000K6?item=9SIAE307ZN6975

This is also optional, you can replace this with the included rear case fan. It will match up with the RGB theme and provide slightly better thermals.

CASE: https://www.newegg.com/black-cooler-master-masterbox-td500-atx-mid-tower/p/N82E16811119343?item=N82E16811119343

The TD500 is a great case, and with decent value too. It has has decent airflow and thermals with 3 RGB fans included. It should also have decent space to build in.

So this is all I have to suggest for the PC itself. You will be looking at near $1400 pre-tax and rebates.

Monitor: https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16824475006

The MSI Optix is a great mid-range 1080p 144hz monitor. It has a curved screen design as well as a 1ms response time.

Mouse: https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-G502-Performance-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B07GBZ4Q68/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?keywords=g502&qid=1567685831&s=gateway&sr=8-

This is pretty much the standard of the HERO series from Logitech. The G502 has a 16,000 DPI range and a multi-button layout.

Keyboard: https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Backlit-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboard/dp/B01CDYB8AG/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?keywords=logitech+mechanical+keyboard&qid=1567686080&s=gateway&sprefix=logitech+mechanical&sr=8-8

Again, this is the standard of Logitech mechanical keyboards. The G610 has Red Switches as well as a full keyboard layout. It should be pretty comfortable to play on.

So yeah, this is my suggested layout. It should run at around $1700-1750 total.

u/Forricide · 1 pointr/bapcsalescanada

>Logitech is a TKL

Ah, yeah - while I do generally prefer numpads, I don't really have a lot of room, so TKL is better (not necessary, of course)

I found this keyboard and am considering it. I watched a video on it and the keys seemed somewhat loud but it could just be the way the microphone he was using was configured. It also appears to be quite raised despite not having a palm/wrist rest.

I didn't see the blue-only - I'll take a look.

either should be solid options. Don't feel like you need to buy both logitech or both corsair, can mix and match. I typically like to keep things the same brand so I don't have too many software utilities running on my computer at once.

u/sk9592 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Many gamers prefer red switches because of their linear actuation. They also happen to be quieter than blue and brown.

A keyboard with RGB and generic red switches can be found for around $50:

https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-Mechanical-Keyboard-Keys-Linear-Quiet-Red/dp/B07KCRTN9Q/

If you want genuine Cherry MX Switches and a name brand keyboard, it will cost you more:

https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Backlit-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboard/dp/B01CDYB8AG/

And if you want that, plus RGB, it will cost over $100.

I just spilled water on my mechanical keyboard that I've been using for the passed several years. With black friday just around the corner, I figure this is just a good time as any for this to happen. I'm looking for a full mechanical keyboard with a numpad and dedicated media controls, specifically volume. Backlit is a plus, with cherry red switches or equivalent. I'm looking at the Logitech G610 Orion currently. Any better suggestions?

u/DoctorJHyde · 1 pointr/buildapc

Depends on what youre looking at. you can go from $30 for a cheap one, to 150 for a Ducky or DAS keyboard.

I personally have the Logitech G710+ and love it. You could go to the 610 series and lose the optional function keys (and save about $60) for a solid mid-price point.
$30ish option

Ducky shine $150

u/Iheartbaconz · 1 pointr/buildapc

Depends on the features you want really. Do you need extra programmable keys or just a normal full size just fine? Really when you are looking at a board its what features can you live with out and how much are you willing to spend? I have a blue switch board with backlighting with out the numpad bc of desk space at home. At work I have a full sized board with out backlights. There are even smaller boards out there that remove the F keys and the arrow keys and use the function key to make up for it.

The Corsairs are highly recomended by gamers, a bunch of guys I work with all have these. I just dont like the feel of reds, they still feel like dome keyboards to me: https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-STRAFE-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboard/dp/B00ZUPOMDQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1479534008&sr=8-1&keywords=mechanical+keyboard&refinements=p_89%3ACooler+Master%7CCorsair%7CRazer%7CLogitech

The selection endless now days, almost every company that makes PC gaming components makes a mouse and mechanical keyboard or 10. Stick with anything with MX or Gateron switches and you should be fine. Corsair, Thermaltake, Cooler Master, Logitech, Ducky, Das keyboard are all fine(there are so many brands its hard to narrow all of them down off the top of my head.) Check out the mechanical keyboard subreddit, granted a lot of what those guys go with arent gaming boards but you can get an idea of what is considered quality brand wise.

u/GrizzleFirebear · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Hey guys,
I'm looking for a full sized keyboard with dedicated media buttons with a minimalist style. No fancy LEDs or anything like that.

Huge fan of this Logitech Orion but it's sold out :(

Looking at Ducky's and other options, googling and such, even custom WASD ones but doesn't seem to be the fit. Using FN key is a pain.

Anyone have any good recs?

I love my Logitech g610 Orion mechanical keyboard ($80) and Logitech g303 mouse($30). The mouse is comfortable and light with 2 side buttons and has served me well for the last year with no signs of aging at all. No fraying of the braided cable or ware on the mouse anywhere. The g610 Orion keyboard has Cherry Mx Red switches and a nice tactile feel to each key press. I haven’t had it a real long time but I have loved every second I have had with it. I very highly recommend both. And also RGB MOUSE = MORE FRAGS

If you're set on nice rgb lighting, check out the Ducky Shine.

If you'd like a gaming themed brand, check out Cooler master's offerings.
EDIT: I'm a big fan of the Pro M in specific.

It works like really old keyboards did 30+ years ago. The num pad block switches between the navigation (arrow) cluster and a numeric pad. Actually, that's what numlock was originally intended for, it's kind of useless these days.

They have normal variants if you're not into that.

CM MasterKeys Pro L vs Max Keyboard Nighthawk Pro X

The main differences. The CM board has a detachable cable that springs from the center of the board and is 10$ more. The Max board has 2 USB pass-throughs, has more fluid lighting effects, the cable is non-detachable and springs from right side of the board, and is 10$ cheaper, and comes with a wrist rest, even though I'll get a third party wrist rest anyway. Aside from these differences, they are about identical. It probably comes down to opinion, but I just can't decide. Also I plan on switching on the keycaps completely, so I don't know if that'll make a difference.

EDIT: I'm getting the CM MasterKeys Pro. Turns out the Nighthawk has a nonstandard layout, which is a deal breaker. I'm probably getting the MasterKeys Full, there is a small chance I may go for the TKL, but I need to think about that for a while.

u/Hammithimmis · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

If you already know what switch you prefer, you should definitely prioritize that above other specs. For boards with MX Whites, this Ducky pretty much fits all your requirements except for the backlighting, and comes with high quality PBT keycaps to boot. Otherwise, I'd go with the [MK Fission] (https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=2099), which has RGB underglow and white LEDs along with an aluminum frame. It's basically a better version of the Corsair K70.

Outside of Cherry MX White boards, you have a lot of better options than Corsair (mainly because of the bad stock keycaps and bottom row incompatibility with keycap sets), such as the [Masterkeys Pro L] (https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-MasterKeys-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B01D3BDNF6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1497042826&sr=8-1&keywords=cooler%2Bmaster%2Bpro%2Bl&th=1) and the [Ducky Shine 6] (https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=2389).

u/Epicepicman · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Look into the Masterkeys Pro L and Ducky Shine 5. There's probably some less pricy options out there as well, those are just two off the top of my head.

I'm looking for an RGB mechanical keyboard in the $45-60 range. I know the quality won't be the best, but there are some great keyboards in this range. Here are the specifics.

  1. NO mem-chanical or half-mechanical crap. It needs to be truly mechanical even if it isn't cherry mx or gateron.
  2. It needs to have individual key color programmability, not zones or lines.
  3. Full-sized, no shortened ones or tenkeyless.
  4. Some cool animations, most/all keyboards have this anyways.
  5. Preferably something with more than 7 colors, true RGB would be amazing, but 7 is ok too.
  6. Willing to pay up to 85-100 if it includes cherry mx switches.
  7. Prefer something with software that can program it, but on-board controls are fine too.

The closest I could find was the Mechanical Eagle Z-88. This fulfills all the required criteria, although it only has 7 actual colors (I think). Thanks in advance.

You are correct. I misread Gaote for Gateron.
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01I1N6J34

The RGB lighting is limited but works fine for me, i don't need any pink or violet. In fact, i find red and white less distracting.

There is one other thing that annoys me. When using a color that is not pure R (pure G or pure B) there is some weird chromatic aberration when blinking my eyes. If you move your head away you will get the same feeling, like the 3 colors separate for an instant. Did anyone see that on another keyboard ?

I've never owned a mechanical keyboard and looking to buy one. My setup is currently just my dell 7559 "Gaming" laptop, where I have a book placed upon the laptop keyboard and my external keyboard on top of the book, yeah it sounds stupid lol. I really don't like the laptop keys when I play video games or typing essays.
Anyways I'm looking to buy one online and ship to Canada.
I'm quite interested in the Logitech G pro (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823126488&cm_re=logitech_gpro-_-23-126-488-_-Product)
However I searched about the romger g switches and heard some unfavorably opinions about it. I heard that blue switches or the cherry mx (or clones) are a lot better, i'm leaning forward to this currently (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01I1N6J34/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2IJXZ1FD77INR)

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't recommend this. You can get an MF68 with cherry or gateron blues for like $40-$60 and a decent mouse for $40-$50 too. I prefer gateron over cherry because it's smoother, but here's some listing:

Although non-rgb, the quality is more important than the aesthetics in my opinion. Your opinion may be different.

I got through all my IB essays with a Magicforce68 with gateron blues, it was pretty good. If loudness is a concern however, you could get one with gateron browns which are more silent at the cost of not feeling as good.

If you're willing to up your budget a bit, you could get the Pok3r which is endgame material for many. It will definitely last a bunch of time and you can buy better cases for it down the line.

Both of those keyboards have media controls accessed through Fn

Or should I just bite the bullet and get the Magicforce with gateron blue switches for $62? I heard they're smoother than the outemu swiches.

I think a poll showed browns as the most preferred overall I think, but that's mostly just because they're a compromise between both imo. It's 100% preference and if you think you'll like blues, you should go with blues. The Magicforce does come in blue switches also, such as: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01J708CCG/ref=twister_B01MFBKOZC?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I like dedicated F# keys too, but keep in mind almost all keyboards that don't come with them (including the magicforce68) have a function key so you still can input F# (among other things). Just incase you're thinking you can't use them at all and deciding based on that.

If you do mind, the Rantopad MXX is a good choice.

u/xxxyyy88 · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Since Kira interested you, why not to purchase KBD75 from KBDFans or XD84 from KPRepublic? They have assembly services if you are not familiar with soldering.

Otherwise there is Drevo Gramr with the same layout. I've been using it and the only issue is stabs, they are rattly and loud. Overall it is good keyboard, definetely not the worst on the market.

u/CrossbowDemon · 1 pointr/audiophile

I have big hands, I rip most gloves in half, not even lying it's happened too many times, and my 75 percent mechanical keyboard with red switches works just as fine my full sized membrane keyboard. There is no technical reason at all that big or small hands would perform more or less efficiently on full sized or reduced keyboards with normal typing My keyboard https://www.amazon.com/Drevo-84-Key-Mechanical-Keyboard-Backlit/dp/B01K4GXJMA/

Hey Riccardo! I got my vortex race 3 over the summer with mx clears, and i'm really enjoying it, but one thing i didn't really notice when buying it is the somewhat weird key sizes for some of the keys.. for example the escape key in the very top left and the delete key in the very top right are both 1.5u instead of the regular 1u. So that's something you might want to think about. I guess it won't affect you if you don't plan on buying aftermarket keycaps, but when i bought keycaps for this keyboard i had to pay like 60 more dollars just for extra keys that would fit the abnormal key sizes on this keyboard. Here are a few similar keyboards with regular escape and delete keys to compare mk mk84, keycool 84, drevo gramr 84

MasterKeys L PBT with MX browns can be had for $90, or $70 after a mail in rebate (god, who still does those). Well built, with keycaps that'll last. That price is hard to beat.

Then the Leopold FC900R is a step up in quality again, and has sound deadening built in. Or the FC980M, for a more compact and kinda novel layout.

u/violetviceroy · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

I wouldnt worry about it. iKBC makes high-quality boards. "Real" cherry switches are no better than many of their competitiors, such as kailh switches and gateron switches, and generally tend to feel worse. If you do a search of this forum (which I strongly recommend, so that you learn more about mech boards in general), you'll find that most serious enthusiasts do not like the feel of cherry switches unless they have modified them in some way - such as taking them apart to apply lube, or swapping them into the housing of one of their competitors. "Real Cherry" is a marketing gimmick, and if this is your only concern, you can save money by getting a "knock-off" board for much less.

As for stabilizers: this is a case of you get what you pay for. Off-the-shelf boards with great stabilizers include: vortex vibe (60% + numpad), and the vortex race (75%, no numpad), but these tend to retail for around $130 USD. Other more expensive brands, such as leopold, have great stabilizers too. Rattly stabs are easy to fix, in any case.

Other brands you might look into: Coolermaster makes solid entry-level full-sized boards, and they have excellent stabilizers, and does the brand Ducky. Rosewill is another option: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00S5E4LX0/ref=s9_acsd_simh_hd_bw_bk38zb_c_x_w?pf_rd_m=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-3&pf_rd_r=5K7ZA2QY682GE8P8EK93&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=0717e713-00ea-5675-b7dd-2d1ae0cbad07&pf_rd_i=680461011

Another option still is RedDragon: https://www.amazon.ca/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=lp_680461011_1_8?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1523199659&sr=1-8

Cooler Master: https://www.amazon.ca/MasterKeys-Mechanical-Keyboard-Switches-Keycaps/dp/B072C516B9/ref=lp_680461011_1_18?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1523199659&sr=1-18 .

And yes, fees tend to be higher in Canada.

If you are really, truly, concerned, I would spend the time to do some keyword searches in this forum. I dont mean this offensively, but a lot of your concerns are fairly noobish and reading up on what other people say will probably assuage them, and make you feel better about spending money on whatever board you eventually do get (I speak from experience on this). Your keyboard needs are fairly straightforward, so you should be able to get a solid board that meets them without spending more than you want to.

Thoughts on this iKBC CD108 PBT keyboard with Brown switches compared to the MasterKeys PBT board and the Masterkeys Pro L board?
I have the Pro L reds at home and am looking for one with Brown switches for work. A little harder to find nice ones in an affordable price range in Canada though.
Was looking at this iKBC board that ships from the US for an odd $120 CAD without taxes ($89 + $30 Express shipping [$25 standard]) on checkout.
It comes out cheaper than the MasterKeys Pro L Browns for $128 before tax.

u/itty53 · 1 pointr/keyboards

This one is a used one that's decently priced. You won't find many options under $90.

You could always just get some standard dell keyboard too, whichever one suits your needs. They still default to the rubber domes, usually, but some have scissor switches ("chiclet" style flat keys that are more prone to breaking over time).

I'm looking to buy one of the following keyboards, but not sure which one to get. All prices are Canadian dollars, so don't be alarmed if they seem high :)

  1. $105.92 Ducky One Double Shot Blue LED Backlit - http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=34811142128

  2. $120.99 Cooler Master MasterKeys L PBT - https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B072C516B9/

  3. $119.99 MasterKeys Pro L Mechanical Keyboard with Intelligent White LED - https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01ITE93OM/

  • The Ducky One is Double Shot. Which is better in your opinion - PBT or Double Shot?
  • Is Ducky One a better brand than CM Masterkeys? Answer may seem obvious but I don't want to assume anything.
  • The PBT Masterkeys will arrive the fastest, but has no backlighting and costs more than the Ducky One - is PBT worth the $15 price increase over double shot?
  • The 3rd option is a backlit Masterkeys Pro but no PBT and will take the longest to arrive.

I missed out on buying a $164.99 Ducky Shine 6 PBT Double Shot Black Keycaps RGB LED - would that have been the best one to buy? Price higher than the others was the only limiting factor.

If you haven't already, invest in an adaptive controller setup from Microsoft. If you combine this with steam's remap feature and FFXIV's controller layout you could really set this up nicely.

Alternatively if you want to use actual keys, you could try something like the Razer Tartarus V2 This way you have keys and a dpad for either moving your character or the camera.

Red Mage would be a really great idea for her since it's limited on buttons and you're not switching targets incredibly often like you would for healers or tanks.

There is also the Logitech G13 and Belkin Nostromo, but you'll have to find one used or on Ebay.

Additionally there is VoiceAttack software, that allows you to issue commands vocally. This is commonly used for games like Elite Dangerous, but I don't see why you couldn't use it to, for example, change targets or target friendlies.

Thank you for having a thread like this. I have done quite a bit of reading here, including a lot of the links and suggested polls on this subreddit and to be honest I am very overwhelmed.

Short version, here is what I need:

Tactile but not noisy, I want to feel the keys but I don't want a noisy typewriter. A little noise is ok.

Bluetooth, I ditched my desk about a year ago and won't go back, I use the computer from my LayzBoy arm chair with the keyboard in my lap, I no longer have a desk to run wires across.

Size need to be at least 75%, to full size (No 10key)... 60% is way too small for me. Weight doesn't really matter and neither does footprint, I wont be traveling with it.

Budget is a max of 160$ right now, and I prefer to purchase on Amazon.

I don't need fancy lights, I really just need something that works. When I am writing if I get too much input lag I don't always look at what I am writing for upto an hour, if the keyboard is crap I look up and find gibberish on the screen and loads of wasted time and creativity.

I originally purchased this keyboard, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FZVCH4H/ and this bluetooth dongle, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DJ83070/ and while it seemed like quality I just couldn't get it to work, everything connected but the keyboard wouldn't function. It was too small for me anyway, but I guess I got what I paid for at $44. I guess I will go with something 'name brand'?

Has to be simple setup, I am not an engineer or a programmer. Keyboard will be mostly used for writing, reddit, and light gaming like WoW.

I currently use a MS Wireless Comfort 5050 https://www.amazon.com//dp/B014W20C90/ keyboard/mouse combo, and the thing is junk, it has never worked right (Windows 8.1) spotty/odd input lag and most of the time it just stops working at all, It's going in the trash as soon as I replace it.

Thank you everyone for your help and guidance, I really appreciate it.

For a controller the one to get is the Flydigi Wee 2. Other controllers like the Ipega 9087 have a similar form factor but they are janky compared to the Wee. The only other controller I would suggest is a XB1 but you said you already have a full size controller and the Wee 2 is definitely more compact.

For keyboards the most compact are things like the Rii X8. Great for controlling Kodi on your TV but not good for gaming. The most compact Bluetooth keyboard that is reasonably priced and excellent for gaming is this - https://www.amazon.com/Mechanical-Keyboard-Bluetooth-Wireless-Multi-Device/dp/B07FZVCH4H/

I suppose you could get a 2.4Ghz wireless mechanical numpad like this https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Mechanical-Financial-Accounting-Compatible/dp/B07NTJ78XT/ and that would be more compact but the game would have to support full rebinding of keys. Also at that price it would be better to get the 60% since it is more versatile.

I was thinking of buying the Dierya x Kemove 60% on amazon above, but most of if not all the reviews seem to be for a full or TKL version of the keyboard, not the 60% product. Seeing as there are only options for switches and not different keyboard layouts, this worries me slightly - how reliable would the page and the pictures be? This is my first time getting a mechanical keyboard so I'm overly cautious of making any mistakes when buying.

There aren't any youtube reviews either for this specific product - there are however videos for a similar but different Dierya 60% keyboard seen here: https://www.amazon.com/Mechanical-Keyboard-Bluetooth-Wireless-Multi-Device/dp/B07FZVCH4H/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=dierya+60%25&qid=1568543824&sr=8-3. Another reason I'm worried is that the DxK 60% seems better quality (e.g having PBT doubleshot keycaps while the D 60% doesn't), but literally only costs $5 more.

Is there anyone who can vouch for the DxK 60% at all, or could provide insight into what's going on with the Amazon page? Thanks.

Psychonauts
There are days where I watch the trailer and think, "I really need to play this game." Then there are other days where my thoughts are, "Why the hell would I play Psychonauts, like, ever?!" It's a struggle, and I think it's because the visual style and overall tone remind me a lot of American McGee's Alice, and the personal struggles I was going through when that game was a big part of my life.

Alice: Madness Returns
Speaking of American McGee's Alice, here's the sequel! Something about the play style being changed to a more fleshed out platformer makes this installment seem more appealing. The style and tone are still dark and grim, but maybe because the actual graphics are better and more well-rounded, the theme doesn't set me back to my own personal dark days.

Looking to upgrade from my G710+, as it doesn't have RGB. I'm having some trouble finding something that fits all my needs though. I'm looking for a full sized keyboard that has Cherry MX Blue or Browns, good RGB control (something like this or this, as well as being able to control different portions of the keyboard independently so that I could have certain portions of the keyboard be different colors), and has macro keys (preferably to the left of the keyboard).

I don't really care about the price, but I'm having issues finding any keyboards that fit all of those criteria, outside of things from Razer. I'd rather not buy anything from Razer unless it's the only product that is available that fits my needs.

Thanks!

The I have the version you linked that comes with a keypad. It used to be $48 with amazon prime, but they raised the price. It has Blue Outemu switches which are pretty similar to Blue Khalih switches.

This normally goes for like 40$ though...also take note it uses ROMER-G keys, which a lot of people are unsatisfied with.

10$ more you can get real Cherry MX keys, brown or red and a better build quality.

i would definitely recommend a masterkeys board, not sure if you know the different type of switches but this one uses brown switches which are tactile and dont click. the next option is the red switches which are similar to browns but they dont have the tactile bump when pressed --- https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072JBFJ1Q/ref=twister_B078H5LSKF?th=1

there are tenkeyless options as well which cost slightly less than those, good luck :)

Get a "Nostromo" type device, use your thumb to move as you're probably used to from console games, freeing up three fingers for spells and keybinds. Modern one here:
