If you want a game that require you to think I would suggest Portal 2. It has fun gameplay and is definitely the game with the best humor, that I've played.
Edit: As a lot of people also have commented. I don't own a PS3, but if it's possible you should also buy Portal 1.
It absolutely was. I had one of those TVs, its was a Playstation-branded 3D monitor. https://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3D-display-3/dp/B0050SZ49Y
You just described the Playstation 3D Display.
I love Metal Gear... and I already have two collections:
Metal Gear: The Essential Collection released in 2008 (this one was criticized by some for not including the Gamecube remake, but rather including a PS1 disk)
Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection released 2011 (again avoids any remake of MGS1 or GCN port, also leaves out Portable Ops: is basically MSG2, 3, and Peace Walker)
Is this a new thing? Release a random collection of MG games every 3 years? If there's an HD remake of the original Metal Gear (a la, the project they shut down) and MG2.. along with a port/remake of the GCN version - that would be worthwhile I guess.
If it's HD-collection redux with slightly "more HD" versions of the previous games....? I can't see them having done proper remakes in this time frame. Previous HD collection + Ground Zeroes? Same issue.
There's the Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection. Includes MG, MG2, MGS1, MGS1:VR, MGS2, MGS3, MGS:PW, and MGS4.
> Edit: $75 on Amazon
Metal Gear Solid has six mainline canon installments (technically eight but I'm disregarding the NES games since I don't think they're worth playing and they're both covered in Metal Gear Solid) that spans fifty years and covers the arcs of many characters.
Most the games have some sort of deep narrative that run throughout the entire game but the stories for the most part are very good, albeit a bit convoluted on your first play through. The games sort of flop between very serious story telling and self parody, meaning they never taken themselves too seriously and they're full of little quirks and complete fiction.
The gameplay is fantastic too, the only one I'd say that has aged noticeably is the first one but the second Solid game made massive improvements to gameplay that stayed with the series and was added onto.
It's one of my favorite franchises and Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater are two of my all time favorite games, definitely worth a shot if you haven't already played them. If you have a PS3 then you can get the Legacy Collection which contains all the canon entries except for Phantom Pain but it's on PS3 as well.
boiiiii get a goddamn ps3. you won't regret it.
Exclusives:
Just get a PS3, man.
GET ONE OR I'LL SMACK YOU
Here is one version, here is the other
While we're at it, Valkyria Chronicles is overlooked by new(er) PS3 owners as well.

There's also the Silent Hill HD Collection, but from everything I hear it is a lazy and sloppy port of the games.
Whew! I swear I am not a shill for Amazon. I just appreciate a good deal when I see it.
So Target has done this promotion before where you pre-buy a game and get $20 off a certain title, and, while some say is dishonest, you can probably get some of these titles for cheaper than the $30-40 that they advertise for. While I'm not here to tell you what's right or not, I am here to post game deals, and, well, this is part of it.
Without knowing what the "& more" titles are, I'll start with the ones that Target has listed in the ad. In order to get them cheaper, you ask for one of the games that's listed and tell them that you want to price match to a competitor's price. Target policy is that they have to escort you to the customer service desk to do the promotion where they have to look the price up on one of their iPads. Bring the pre-order card with you as they can check you out at the CS desk. I advise that you also have a few other items with you as this is where it gets kind of grey. Some team members will do the price match and promotion no problem, others won't claiming that you can't combine promotions (which is true according to Target's employee handbook). The issue in question, however, is if price matching is considered a promotion. It does not clearly define price matching as a promotions, so, really, it's up to the regional area if they will do it or not. I've found that having other items doesn't really raise any red flags when I did this promotion back about a year ago (you can then return said items at a later date for a full refund of those items making your final cost the sale sale price). Up to you. Anyway, here are the games that are in the promotion and their "better" prices at other stores (Current as of this posting):
It should be noted, that if you try to price match against Amazon, they will do the price of the product that is both SHIPPED and SOLD by Amazon. The "Fulfilled by Amazon" won't count! The prices listed above for Amazon are those prices current as of this comment. Some games are the same price at Walmart and Amazon, both links have been provided just in case one changes
I'll update it if I/you guys find out any other games.
I was about to purchase this as "The Definitive Experience" sounded more like the PS3 version of Metal Gear Solid: Legacy Collection with Ground Zeroes + MGS:V and then was let down with it only being 2 games an their dlc.
it's like $18 on amazon.
cheaper here $21.95 http://www.amazon.com/Konami-20294-Metal-Legacy-Playstation-3/dp/B00KTZELMY/ref=sr_1_5?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1452035774&sr=1-5&keywords=metal+gear+solid
Probably discounted due to the upcoming release (late-2019 for Japan, sometime in 2020 for everywhere else) of Persona 5: The Royal. Persona 5: The Royal will only be for PS4, though.
PS4 version hit 'Greatest Hits' pricing as well, but no discount - Amazon link for PlayStation 4 version.
EDIT: PS3 is currently back-ordered, so other third-party sellers are showing up. Make sure it says that the item says 'Ships from and sold by Amazon.com' -- hopefully this link works for simplicity (smid tag in the URL denotes the seller, in this case, Amazon).
You can buy Dark Souls for PS3 for 12 bucks (counting shipping) on amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B004NRN5EO/ref=sr_1_1_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1369597302&sr=8-1&keywords=dark+souls&condition=used
Get the Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection
it has every major Metal Gear Solid (1-4) game you would need to play besides Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain. Otherwise if you can't find the Legacy Collection get the HD Collection. Keep in mind though if you do get the HD collection instead you will have to seperatly get the original Metal Gear Solid (It's on PSN for PS3) and Metal Gear Solid 4.
Play them in order:
Yeah, it's being released for PS3 and PS4. You can't get the steelbook or Take Your Heart edition for it, but you can still get the base game.
Its goes down to 19.99 all the time on Amazon, same with GTA IV Complete Edition : http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005N4HBIW/ref=cm_sw_r_an_am_ap_am_us?ie=UTF8
Valkyria Chronicles
Nope. 1 and 4 are not included on the 360 HD MGS Collection. You can only get those on Playstation. If you want the full comprehensive collection, and you own a PS3, this is the one you want.
If you haven't played the games already pick up the Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection when it becomes available
Some of the best games ever made
Here's a pretty cheap copy on Amazon
here you go! ;)

Oh boy. There's a large list of games I believe a worth completing or otherwise sinking hours in to.
Shooters
Borderlands: GOTY - I enjoyed this more than 2, but I also feel like it's more grindy than BL2
Borderlands 2
Red Orchestra 2: Rising Storm - Gather a few friends and RO2: Rising Storm is a blast. It tries hard to pretend it's realistic, but don't take it too seriously. It's a WW2 shooter, but damn it if it isn't satisfying.
The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series - I linked CoP as it's the newest game, but also the best in my opinion. It's an open world, apocalyptic shooter with RPG elements. This game needs the Misery mod to go along with it. It's free and adds a legendary amount of content and replayability. In particular, fans of roguelikes and games like Dark Souls would probably like this game.
Spec Ops: The Line - No game in 2012 touched this game's story. I won't spoil much, but the action and gunplay is enough to keep you involved with the story line. If you're a fan of plots, you need to play this.
Saint's Row 2 - Arguably the best SR game, the amount of pure content and hilarious combat isn't to be missed.
Red Faction: Guerilla - This is $1.99 right now on Steam, so there's no excuse to not play this. Open world, everything is destructible and fun to blow up. I've put 120 hours in to this. There are a couple mods out there that make it even more fun, but this is the best Red Faction game to date.
Just Cause 2 - While the singleplayer is moddable and not to be missed, the recent JC2 Multiplayer mod is absolute madness. It's Red Faction: Guerilla on a hefty amount of crack.
Hitman - While Absolution is regarded as the low point by some, it's still a fun game. Killing people has never been more fun. Definitely worth a look.
Far Cry 3 - This game is nuts. Do not skip this.
PAYDAY 2 - The first game was awesome, the second one is just generous. While I often argue they were lazy with the first one, the second one is absolutely FILLED with things to spend your (ingame) money on. It's a very large game with a generous helping of content that is even further expanded upon if you play with friends.
Sleeping Dogs - For some reason, this game demands your attention. There is not a crazy, Skyrim-level amount of stuff to do, but for some odd reason it grabs and keeps your attention for hours on end. Definitely a fun open world game, the story isn't bad either.
RPGs/Strategy
LEGO Lord of the Rings - LEGO games are great, but I found LotR to be particularly satisfying. Easy to drop in and play with friends, as well.
The Guild 2 - If you've ever wanted to own your own bakery, start a family, run an Assassin organization,
or become mayor of a city then this game is for you. Multiplayer adds an extra level of fun.
Crusader Kings 2 While the DLC is a bit pricey, there is a lot to choose from. If you enjoy history, or alternative history, you will definitely enjoy this. Establish your own kingdom or conquer a current one, with a large focus on continuing your family line.
Fallout - I found Fallout 3 to be more enjoyable than New Vegas, but there isn't a bad Fallout game and you can't go wrong.
Deus Ex: HR - While it wasn't everyone's cup of tea, the visuals and RPG elements make this game a winner in my book.
XCOM: EU/EW - XCOM: EW is one of the better strategy games to come out as of late, and it's expansion -- Enemy Within -- only makes it better.
KOTOR 2 - If you can tolerate older games, you shouldn't miss out on KOTOR 2. While KOTOR 1 is awesome, 2 just blew me away when it first came out. Even if you don't like Star Wars or know anything about it, the feeling of becoming a Jedi is so awesome. And there is hours and hours and HOURS of content, the mods alone have the potential to add upwards to 100 hours of replayability.
The Elder Scrolls - Even if you've played Skyrim or Oblivion, try out some you've never played or perhaps revisit older games like Morrowind. If you have never touched an ES game, now's the time.
Anno 2070 - I'm not so sure this is worth $30, but if you wait for a sale you have a pretty sweet strategy game. It's different, but in a good way. I can only recommend you try it to see if you like it.
Action/Other
Assassin's Creed - You would find quickly that AC is one of the most time-consuming, visually-stunning, heart-racing franchises of it's time. While it had it's low points, it could very well be my favorite franchise of all time. If you aren't interested in all of the games, AC4: Black Flag is a fresh start. You don't need prior knowledge of the other games to play it. But not playing the entire series would be unfortunate.
Binary Domain - This is a very underrated game with a very awesome story. Worth a look. It's on sale right now!
Game Dev Tycoon - Not an entirely original idea, but perhaps the most well executed. With a growing list of mods and a new multiplayer mod that adds a lot to the experience, it can easily take up hours of your life.
Hotline Miami - This game is like... I don't know. It's awesome. It's bloody murder wrapped in to an LSD-tripping pig mask. Just play it, you won't be disappointed.
The Wolf Among Us - If you enjoy story-packed games with a wild amount of replayability, you can't go wrong with Telltale. The Wolf Among Us is their most recent new endeavor and even if you haven't read the comics, it's an amazing, heartfelt story. 10/10 would wolf again.
POSTAL 2 - If there was ever a game to channel your inner psychopath, it's this.
Brutal Legend - I went in to this game not knowing what to expect, having no prior knowledge of it. It has a surprising amount of content and more to unlock. Awesome soundtrack and great voice acting and a pretty large open world make this a great experience.
Metal Gear Solid - This is up there with AC. I absolutely love Metal Gear Solid. You can pick up MGS4 for cheap, also.
Sims 3 - This game can be very stupid fun, or very serious fun. It depends on how you want to play it. Which is fun to me.
EDIT: Fixed some stuff, added some games
i think you should wait and buy the [metal gear solid legacy collection]
The same promotion applies to Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Remix as well:
http://www.amazon.com/Kingdom-Hearts-1-5-Remix-Playstation-3/dp/B00BKWQA2Y/
No, because there is more to it than story. Over the series Kojima has done a ton of 4th wall breaking and the games are quite self-aware. Honestly, you should pick up the Legacy Pack and give them all a quick run through. The games aren't terribly long, but do have a decent amount of replay ability.
I'm not going to recommend multiplatform games as I'm unsure of whether or not you have a 360/Wii/etc.
A bit of a novel, but I hope you find this helpful, OP.
First, to comment on what happened on your call with Microsoft: maybe it's possible you just got one of the really bad reps? But then again, they got a supervisor involved and they still wouldn't just fix the situation for you? Especially seeing as you hadn't even used your subscription... that is pretty ridiculous. Well, I'm confident that you'll find the PlayStation experience an enjoyable one.
-----
Honestly, this is probably the best time to try out a PS3. We're closing out on this generation of consoles and some of the best games of the last few years have been PlayStation exclusives. Especially if you've been using an Xbox 360 this whole time, you're about ready to meet a whole new world of incredible titles.
Quick edit: Just wanted to clarify... I'm including links to Amazon just as an easy way for you to learn more about individual titles. But just as /u/undeadwolfy mentioned:
>You can buy most of these pre-owned at a decent price. Some are digital so they're not much cheaper but still great.
So first and foremost, I highly recommend anything by Naughty Dog -- they are arguably the best developer in the entire industry right now. They released four titles on the PS3: Uncharted 1, 2 & 3 (each game is a must-play), and the absolute masterpiece that is The Last of Us. You've probably heard plenty of praise for The Last of Us (and it is well deserved), but I would recommend saving the best for last. It's such an awesome game that, after completing it, nothing else I played interested me anymore. It took like a month to get back into the gaming groove, so I'd save that 'til after you beat the Uncharted trilogy. It's that good.
Aside from that, there are some other great titles I'd highly recommend. I don't know what kind of games you're into, so I'll just list all those that I've liked, personally:
Not to mention plenty of other great exclusives (Rachet & Clank series, Resistance trilogy, Valkyria Chronicles and more) and the tons of PS1 and PS2 games on the PlayStation Store for cheap, playable on your PS3 if you want to go old school. (Not to mention the many PS2 games being rereleased for PS3 in HD glory... I'd recommend Shadow of the Colossus, which happens to be free for PlayStation Plus members this month... hint hint.) Of course, all the multiplatform games are also here (Battlefield, Bioshock, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, etc.).
That said, however, if you really want to jump in the game, PlayStation Plus is worth every penny -- a ton of free games each month (and we're talking major titles, in addition to a handful of indies), plus a large variety of other system-enhancing features and discounts. And if you're looking at getting a PS4, getting PS+ is a no-brainer. For one, it is required for online multiplayer on the PS4 (no such requirement on the PS3, but hey, they've got to make their money somehow). But what's awesome is that one PS+ account will work across both the PS3 & PS4, and enable you to get free games for each console for as long as you are a subscriber, with free games on the PS4 appearing on day one.
Welcome to the new age. Now cue up some Imagine Dragons and get ready for a freaking awesome experience. We're glad to have you.
Valkyria Chronicles is not only an amazing PS3 game, which the first in the series was brought over to the West, but the anime is quite good too and it even keeps the art style of the game.
It is quite cheap on Amazon right now.
EDIT: It got a 9/10 from IGN.
I don't know which ones you haven't played, so I'm just going to list whichever ones come to mind.
Infamous collection
Tomb Raider
GTA IV Complete Edition
Assassins Creed 1
Assassins Creed: Ezio Trilogy
Far Cry 3
Skyrim
Hitman: Absolution
Uncharted 1 & 2 pack
Uncharted 3
ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Collection
Heavy Rain
Though there are probably many more that I'm forgetting.
Edit: Had to remove Assassins Creed 3 because the price went up to $34.77.
One game for the fall/winter? This should about do it.
>Is Portal 2 seriously going to be that expensive?
PC version will be $50, console version $60. (Those are the pre-order prices listed by retailers like Amazon, Gamestop, etc.) I'm sure that, as per usual, Valve will be offering a 10% discount to those who pre-order on Steam, and they might also offer a 4-pack (three copies for the price of four) like they did with the Left 4 Dead games.
>Has Valve ever made a game more than $30?
Half-Life 2 was $50 when it came out in 2004. Left 4 Dead was $50 when it was released in 2008, and Left 4 Dead 2 was $50 when it was released in 2009. Adjusted for inflation, Portal 2 is actually cheaper than Half-Life 2. ($50 in 2004 = $56.32 in 2010 according to the Consumer Price Index.)
Amazon is giving $5 off pre-order with release day delivery plus a whopping $20 credit.
Here you go, some great software company has you taken care of
You could get MGS Collection and Uncharted 3 for about the price of BF3 Premium.
A quick Amazon search reveals:
UC3 is $33 new, $25 used:
http://www.amazon.com/Uncharted-3-Drakes-Deception-Playstation/dp/B004EQCCI4/
MGS is $30 new, $29 used:
http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B0050SX97I/
so I say go with that!
I was going to say Final Fantasy 10 or 12, but it's hilarious how much MGS takes the cake.
Hey, OP. Get the Legacy Collection for
PS3 so you can play most of the series for cheap!
With overnight shipping you could have it tomorrow for $53.98
http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1373555669&sr=8-1&keywords=METAL+GEAR+SOLD+LEGACY+PS3
Play then in release order:
Metal Gear
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (It’s debatable whether you need to play MG 1 and 2, but if you don’t, you need to watch some gameplay)
Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (some consider this non-canon as it wasn’t directed by HK but it doesn’t affect the overall story if you consider it canon)
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (same situation as Portable Ops, it’s amazing though so play it)
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
The best way to play the entire series is to pick up a PlayStation 3, as you can play every main series game on that beautiful console.
Metal Gear 1-2, MGS 1-4 and MGS: Peace Walker are in the Metal Gear Solid: Legacy Collection:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00KTZELMY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_z.6kDb96JQQGV
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B006T960GE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Ua7kDbY6WFGGZ
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00GRMMQDY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_2b7kDbXDMPPP2
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0146JO2AO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Ic7kDb0G2ZD39
Portable Ops is only on PSP and hasn’t been ported to consoles which kind of tells you how Konami and HK see that game...
Aside from the mainline canon games there’s:
Metal Gear (NES)
Snake’s Revenge (NES)
Metal Gear: Ghost Babel (GameBoy Color)
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (GameCube) [This is actually canon, it’s just a remake of MGS1]
Metal Gear Ac!d (PSP)
Metal Gear Ac!d 2 (PSP)
Metal Gear Survive (PS4/Xbox One)
Play the games in the order I stated. Don’t read anything about them. Don’t read reviews. Don’t look at the wiki to try to make sense of confusing things like I did. Just experience the twists and revelations as they happen. Enjoy. ✌️
Well stop what you're doing and go buy this right now.
User /u/mrgameboy280 found it even cheaper on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Konami-20294-Metal-Legacy-Playstation-3/dp/B00KTZELMY
I apologize to anyone who paid the extra $1.22.
It's $1.22 cheaper here, and it's the same product since neither of them have the artbook (the artbook was only produced for the first edition run, you won't find it on Amazon anywhere).
You can either play them chronologically in the order in which the games were released (I recommend this), or play them chronologically in the order in which the story occurs. Either is fine but definitely do not skip the original Metal Gear Solid.
My recommendation is to buy either:
I don't know about you, but I find it difficult to start from newer games going into older games because you get "spoiled" by the updated combat mechanics of the newer games, which could make playing the older games more tedious. If you play the older ones first, you'll appreciate the better combat mechanics of the newer games. Having said that, I think that Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes for Gamecube isn't as clunky as the original since it's a remake. TBQH with you, though, it's probably not as bad as you might think.
Red Dead Redemption Game of the Year is on sale for 19.99 right now
http://amzn.com/B005N4HBIW
So how comfy is that rock you live under?
Have you even bothered to look on amazon??
I've said to this every newbie and I will say it to you as well: just play the games. Reading wikis or other peoples' plot summaries just doesn't work with Metal Gear games -- it really doesn't. You just have to experience it by yourself.
If you want the easy but not as effective way to learn what's going on - sure - you can watch the Digital Graphic Novels or cutscenes from YouTube, but I'd personally just lock you in a bunker with the Legacy Collection and let you out once you've finished the whole series.
http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO
Every single canon Metal Gear game
I don't think so, in July the Metal Gear Solid Legacy collection is going to be released that includes MGS 1,2,3,4, Peace Walker, VR missions, and the original Metal Gear 1 and 2 for $50. You'll get a lot more bang for your buck and can experience the entire story.

The Legacy Collection comes out on the 9th.

From the Amazon page: The Legacy Collection includes Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2, Metal Gear Solid 2: HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid 3: HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid 4 Trophy Edition and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD Edition
MGS Collection + GZ/TPP
I don't know if i understood correctly but if you don't know wich games are for each console
On the PS1 you can only play MSG1
On the PS2 you can play MGS2 and 3, and if you have the "Subsistence" version of 3 it also includes the original Metal Gear 1 and 2.
Or you can sell everything and get a PS3 with the Legacy collection wich includes Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2, Metal Gear Solid 2: HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid 3: HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid 4 Trophy Edition and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD Edition. It also includes Metal Gear Solid 1 and VR Missions voucher codes.
Who needs a PS2 for it? Get the Sly Collection! Remastered in HD!
http://www.amazon.com/Sly-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B003O680RM
Don't buy it used. Buy it new for $5 more and make sure From gets their cut instead of filling Gamestop's pockets.
You can get it off here brand new from Amazon for a buck more than gamestop.
Did you like X-COM from 2012? It plays a good bit like it, so if you enjoyed that style gameplay you'd like VC. It also has some visual novel-like parts that are pretty nice, and has a really good cel-shaded art style. It's a great game, especially since you can pick it up for very cheap.
Just bought this collection. I'm going to have a better week.
Ratchet and Clank. The entire series. I love these games, they're completely awesome. Definitely check them out, you won't regret it.
Start with the Ratchet & Clank Collection for the first 3 games and just go from there.
Then check out Jak and Daxter, and Sly Cooper after that.
>After the install, players will be able to enjoy both Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online without any need to switch discs.

No, I measure it in buying power. The reason to buy silver is to protect that buying power. We say a silver quarter will buy you a gallon of gas now just as it did in 1964. However, it's possible to lose buying power with silver just as with assets. In the last 9 months or so, silver fell from >$30/oz to <$20/oz. CPI was small (<1.5%), so let's call it zero. You can buy only 2/3 of the goods now with your silver as you could have then. 9 months ago, you could use 2 oz of silver to buy a [brand new video game] (http://www.amazon.com/Grand-Theft-Auto-V-Playstation-3/dp/B0050SXKU4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1373486763&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=gta+v), but now it would take three ounces. This loss of buying power is a loss of wealth.
Amazon! You can get both 1.5 and 2.5 and have them by Friday if you have Amazon Prime - I got my brother both for the Holidays.
I hope you don't actually walk into video game stores expecting to find anything that isn't Modern Battle of Gran Theft Halo: Black Warfare Ghosts 5.
That said, 4 is no great shakes (I found it...aggravating after playing 2 and 3; I've never played 1 but I know the plot) and, if the Legacy Collection has VOUCHERS for MGS1 and Virtual Missions. If you don't care much for Metal Gear, get the HD collection; if you want the full experience, pick up the Legacy one.
Here's the link to the Legacy Collection for more info on the Criterion of Metal Gear games: http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO
EDIT: I said "or" instead of "and"
Next stop: http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1371928346&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=metal+gear+solid+legacy+collection
There’s a MGS Legacy Collection that has a majority of the games. It’s how I’ve played MGS 1, 2, and 3, including Peace Walker.
https://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?keywords=metal+gear+solid+legacy+collection&amp;qid=1569205400&amp;sprefix=metal+gea&amp;sr=8-1
Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection
Includes:
-Metal Gear (1995)
-Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (1999)
-Metal Gear Solid (2005)
-Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (Substance Edition / HD) (2007 - 2009)
-Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (Subsistence Edition / HD) (1964)
-Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PS3 Exclusive) (2014)
-Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (1974)
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes / The Phantom Pain are sold separately but aren't PS3 exclusive.
The games here range from 1987 to 2010, sorted by release order. Guns of the Patriots is the finale to the franchise even though Revengeance takes place in 2018 but that title isn't canon.
It took me roughly ~2 weeks to get through all of them. On average, a Metal Gear Solid game takes ~8-12 hours to beat on your first ever run. The first 2 are a bit shorter.
---
The franchise is a must play. These games started, revolutionized, and essentially built the stealth franchise, with Ground Zeroes being the closest thing we have to a stealth simulator. Also Kojima wrote one of the greatest stories in gaming history.
Yeah and the best part is all these great series are being released as special collections now.
Now is a fantastic time to give the PS3 a try and snap up all the great games you missed the first time around.

Might I suggest the HD Remake coming out in the fall? It's not too late...
http://www.amazon.com/Kingdom-Hearts-1-5-Remix-Playstation-3/dp/B00BKWQA2Y
But... Amazon said it was the international edition when I preordered. I'm not yet giving up hope.
Okay, I'll keep this brief.
You started out good. MGS 3 is the earliest game in the series story wise. On console Ground Zeroes is it's sequel, there is a few handheld titles in between MGS 3 and Ground Zeroes.
In short the story is and SPOILERS-SOMEWHAT in short, about two key groups who endevour to fulfil The Boss' final wish, to have a untied world. The Patriots seek to create this world through control, their enemies seek to create it through freedom.
The Patriots are an example of a shadow government, as they run the USA and control pretty much everything, add WMDs, nanomachines, AI and supersolders as plot points to the entire story, and it makes for one very enjoyable ride.
In their attempts to create the perfect world they embark on a complex cloning program to create the perfect soldier to fullfiil this goal. This is where Solid Snake comes from. Very few characters work directly for The Patriots, many are unknowing agents and the rest are usually unwilling, and are held hostage by some means.
The Metal Gear are a series of bipedial tanks, caipable of launching WMDs from any terrain or fullfilling some over goal such as recon or targeted strikes. In most games the Metal Gear serves as the final boss or close to being the final boss.
In buying Ground Zeroes now you wont miss a hell of a lot, Ocelot appears in it along with Snake. Most of the other characters are from the two handheld games in between MGS3 and MGS5:GZ, those two games are Peace Walker and Portable Ops. You can get every MGS game to date (aside from Portable Ops) in the Legacy Collection: http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO
Fortunately for you, they're releasing the MGS Legacy collection soon, which includes every major game in the series. You could probably pick it up and finish it by the time MGSV hits. Check it out.
Slow up. The Metal Gear Legacy collection drops in July. It has eight games, including VR missions!
Not the same guy but yeah if you've got a PS3, there's the Metal Gear Solid: Legacy collection. That comes with pretty much every mainline MGS game. Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions, MGS2, MGS3, MGS4, and Peace Walker
Here's the Amazon link, sorry I'm on mobile and I have no idea how to post it regular like
http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO
Edit: Nevermind I Figured the link stuff out
> MGS 4 if you've played the series before. If not, consider giving it a try.
FYI, Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection comes out tomorrow.
It includes:
Price: 50 fucking dollars
It is an incredible deal.
You can order it on Amazon too, which is likely where I will purchase mine.

You missed Valkyria Chronicles.
http://www.amazon.com/Valkyria-Chronicles-Playstation-3/dp/B0016C3260
For what it's worth, you can do one better on Amazon right now.
Buy the PS3 version for $54.99, receive $20 Amazon credit.
The PS3 version comes with a PC version, but you need a PS3 to "activate it."
The blimp comes with all pre-orders. The special edition and standard are on Amazon. I'm not sure which sites have the collector's edition and which don't.
Edit: looks like no more collector's editions except on ebay.
I'm gonna make your day because I own Sly Cooper Remaster for PS3!
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003O680RM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_OJWOyb5A0N39W
I just read a number of reviews on Amazon that say the PS3 version becomes increasingly unstable and then unplayable. It has over 150 one-star reviews because of this. The 360 doesn't appear to have that issue, but you might want to check it on some other sites or reviews to be sure.

... then don't?
It retails, NEW, for $25 on Amazon right now. $15, used.

Its the PlayStation 3D Display
https://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3D-display-3/dp/B0050SZ49Y
What kind of games do you like?
It recently dropped in price so how about Red Dead Redemption Game of the Year Edition on Amazon for $19.99
You get get both Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare which make it an excellent value.
If you like card based games and have a PS3, the new Kingdom Hearts collection has the remake of the GBA one, RE: Chain of Memories. It's certainly a departure from the series and if you've only played the others it can take a lot of getting used to, but it is a solid game. http://www.amazon.com/Kingdom-Hearts-1-5-Remix-Playstation-3/dp/B008SBZD5U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1382408949&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=kingdom+hearts+hd
This would be my gift one choice. I love all things Kindgom Hearts, and I still have the first game, but my PS2 was lost when my house burned down so I have no way to play it anymore. I almost peed myself when I found out this game was coming out.
For the second gift, C'mon...gimme. This books sounds so interesting!!
December. You can preorder it from Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BY0G0YU
There are actually PC ports of both MGS1 and MGS2, but they are pretty dang old.
MGS1
MGS2
However, here's how I recommend doing it.
Get The Twin Snakes for Gamecube. It's a remake of the first one with totally redone cutscenes, redone voice acting, and different music. The music is nowhere near the level of the first one, it just doesn't sound right. But other than the music, I think it's the best version.
Then get the HD collection, if you have a 360 or PS3. This includes HD remakes of MGS2, MGS3, and MGS Peace Walker. Peace Walker was a PSP exclusive before and it's 100x better on console.
I also recommend getting MGS3 on 3DS. It's the best version in my opinion. Use the Circle Pad Pro, though.
You can get MGS4 on PS3 or on PS4 with Sony's PSNow thing, but that's only a rental.
MGS5 Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain are both coming out on PC.
Or you can just get the Legacy collection which has literally every Metal Gear game to 2012, and it includes the HD editions. It doesn't have The Twin Snakes though.
There’s also a large remaster set for ps3 that has a ton of the games (and a voucher for digital versions of some others)
Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CTKHXFO/
I believe OP only has the MGS HD collection so he only has MGS 2, 3 and Peace Walker. OP if you're reading this and have a PS3 i highly recommend the MGS legacy Collection.
It has all the games you could possibly need, including the MSX games but they're not required for a playthrough, but just as UsoInSpace said, best play it in release order: 1->2->3->4 and then peace walker since it's the latest one.
yes, $50.
it is already on amazon
I think it just sells quickly because it is a good deal for six games;
MGS1 + VR Missions
MGS2
MGS3
MGS4
MGS:PW
and a nice art book.
<br />
I picked up mine the first day bundled with a free copy of Rising Revengence, but I wasn't anticipating it selling out so quickly.
<br />
Amazon has it right now for $54
http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO
Also about the same price at Amazon with the artbook if you don't mind spending an extra dollar and 90 cents.
Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection by Konami http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CTKHXFO/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_InSevb0RE3Y72
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CTKHXFO/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_InSevb0RE3Y72
$43 on Amazon. Even cheaper on the marketplace. $50 at Gamestop. Not doubting you, but I don't think I've ever seen it go for $100. Maybe they started producing more copies after they noticed a demand, kind like like Xenoblade Chronicles? I don't know.

Go to Best Buy and get yourself the Kindle Gift Cards (Amazon Gift cards). They are branded Kindle, but they are just strait Amazon money. You can use Best Buy cards/reward credit to buy them too.
Then just hop over to Amazon and buy it there. As of writing this they have PC Digital CE, and physical PS3 CE still.
This has almost every Metal Gear game.

Seems like just getting the legacy collection would be a better deal when it comes to ps3 games

i have a ps3
It's like $25 on Amazon US. If you're on some other country the price may be different.
The PS3 version is not Japan-only. It released simultaneously with the PS4 version in Japan and abroad, but in the US was only sold by GameStop, Amazon, and a few specialty retailers.
>I hear it ran poorly on PS3, though. Something about really horrible load times. But I think that wouldn't be an issue for the Switch's flash memory.
PS3 version runs at a lower resolution (iirc 720p vs. 1080p) and has slightly longer load-times (yet doesn't qualify as "horrible"), and is identical in terms of content.
I recommend release order and staying away from the botched NES release and it's 500% non-canon non-Kojima sequel.
The way I recommend playing Metal Gear (not solid) 1 & 2 is disc 2 of MGS3 Subsistence, it has both of them on there and iirc, it's the first official English release of MG2. I was able to emulate the two of them fine on a PS2 emulator, even taking advantage of save states (MG1 has some pretty terrible one way elevators). I'm not 100% sure, but I think the HD versions of MGS 3 have this included.
You're going to need a PS3 and you might as well pick up the Legacy Collection (not the HD collection), it's got most of the games including MGS1 and MGS4 and it sells for about $25, it's an amazing value for some of the best games ever made. The canon PSP games that it leaves out aren't really worth it.
Peace Walker is one of my favorites, make sure to play the PS3 version over the PSP version, you'll get better controls and a much better framerate.
If you liked Metal Gear 1 & 2 and want more 2D action, Ghost Babel (released as "Metal Gear Solid" in the US) is a Game Boy Color game that is visually stunning in motion for the platform, it's non-canon
It's readily available in Amazon for pretty cheap.
$12 used. Hardly "rare".
I'd look for games like Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter, or Rachet and Clank.
There's a Sly Cooper Collection that has three games. There's also a Jak and Daxter Collection as well as a Rachet and Clank Collection. Each collection has three games, and they're running for about $15 each. These would keep them busy for a very long time. :)
> You must be somewhere other than America if the price is $55.
I dunno, Amazon wants $55.
what'd you pay for the system, and what kind?
first, before you buy anymore games, i strongly suggest you get a FREE amazon Prime subscription. don't know how? sign up at any community college, DO NOT register for classes, you are only doing this to get a ".edu" email address. use the .edu to register for an amazon prime account.
i'm not a fan of red dead redemption, though i loved red dead. also the mass effect series was one i had a hard time catching on to. rather than rank by number, i'll just put an asterisk next to my top choices.
I'd get this: Metal Gear Solid HD Collection by Konami http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0050SX97I/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_aZB0tb1B5HZ77
Or if they have a 360/PS3, they could get the HD Collection.
Just to clear up any confusion (because when I went to buy these games 6 months ago I got it messed and up wasted $10.) The Legacy Collection includes The HD Collection, MGS IV, and a PSN code for MGS1 (note this ISN'T the Twin Snakes version, which is Gamecube exclusive and is much better in almost every way. So much so, that IMO you should just watch a long play on youtube instead of playing the original PS1 version.)
So if you DON'T have MGSIV and want to play/experience the whole series, absolutely get the more complete Legacy Collection. Only buy the stand alone HD Collection if you already have a copy of MGSIV and are going to watch Twin Snakes (MGS1)on youtube (which I recommend either way.)
Best thing about PS3 are all these collections. Ranked best (in my opinion).
! The ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Collection
2. inFAMOUS Collection
3. God of War Saga Collection
4. Ratchet & Clank Collection
The HD collection. It gives you early access to the demo.
To answer your question, yes, you need to pick it up at the Walmart you pre-ordered it at. Why don't you order it online at Amazon? You can get it the day it comes out if you choose 2 day shipping and get it delivered straight to your door.
http://www.amazon.com/Grand-Theft-Auto-V-Playstation-3/dp/B0050SXKU4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1374886680&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=gta+v
You could still save a bit of money if you can cancel the ps3. Get the super slim (500 gb) for $220, then get gta v which should be $30 or so. That'll save you $50 you can use for games.

If you go to Glyde and are not afraid to wait a week or 2 you can get games often for $8-$12 or less...
http://glyde.com/buy/used-ps3-game
Congrats on getting a ps3 and welcome to the PS family. It's a great great system. Oh - one more thing: if you can get a Playstation Plus subscription. 2 (sometimes more) free games each month, for $50 a year, less if you can find a deal.
This?
24 inch 3D tv http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3D-display-3/dp/B0050SZ49Y
I'm using the Sony brand monitor that was meant for PS3 (but I only ever used it for 360 and PC). I bought it specifically for the ridiculous refresh rate and beautiful screen, its full 1080p with two HDMI ports and amazing 3D (that works on both console and PC).
New, it can run anywhere from 250 to 300, but used it drops down to 150 and above. I highly recommend this!
http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3D-display-3/dp/B0050SZ49Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1375413249&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=sony+ps3+monitor
Sony did also make a TV for their PS3.
http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3D-display-3/dp/B0050SZ49Y
Which does have very cool simultaneous viewing via 3D tech for two players.
He's not.
Yeah they do have a bundle that has the game + all the DLC. Xbox 360 here and PS3 here.
The Xbox one is backwards compatible if you have an Xbox One.
I've only played the demo, but Fuse was pretty fun.
A third-person shooter with up to 4 player co-op where each of the 4 characters has a signature technologically advanced weapon to use.
I have the game for PS3, just haven't started it up yet is all.
Others that come to mind, that I have in fact played, include:
Enslaved which goes on sale for really cheap pretty often and is a decent enough game. Post apocalyptic beat 'em up with great characters and a decent story. Stars Gollum himself, Andy Serkis.
Red Dead Redemption plus the Undead Nightmare DLC which is the worth the money at twice the price but goes on sale fairly often. Rockstar's Wild West epic with an amazing ending that hopefully hasn't been spoiled for you.
The Saboteur is a stylized World War II game where you take the role of an Irish revolutionary in Nazi occupied Paris. Probably worth a $10 price tag.
If I think of anymore I'll update the list.
Source for 1.5
2.5 has not been officially announced, but there have been screenshots that were clearly from KH2 in the KH1.5 promotion materials, and it would make sense to release 2.5 to help people get caught up before KH3 finally releases. It's presumed that 2.5 will include KH2:FM and BBS:FM and the videos from 358/2 Days, but probably not KH:3D since it's fairly new. None of that is officially confirmed, it's just speculation based on what we know about 1.5 and what would "make sense" before 3 comes out.
Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix is a remake very fun RPG from Disney and Square Enix. (not dumb like the title sounds)
The PS2 Ver.
Kingdom Hearts II is even better and there is no remake a the moment.
Kingdom Hearts III is coming soon for PS4 and Xbox One.

If you have a PS3, grab the Legacy Collection. It has MG1 & 2 (the old MSX games), MGS2, MGS3, MGS4, and Peace Walker. Also if you buy a new copy, it should come with a download code for MGS1.
From there, all you're missing is Ground Zeroes, and Phantom Pain.
Hey mate. I posted this over in another thread, but it's just up your alley. Also of note right now, is that Target has a 2 for $25 sale right now - Of that list I'd recommend Ico/Colossus HD, Twisted Metal, Little Big Planet, and GT5 - I'm not going to include inFAMOUS 2, solely because you can grab the Collection for around $20 if you look for it, but that's the only reason. Also, Target was doing a Buy 2 Get 1 on many titles online (and all titles in-store) but I'm not sure that's still going on.
>In the same boat. Here's the list I've compiled so far, targeting bang-for-buck and PS3/console exclusives mostly, since I already have an extensive PC collection. In no particular order:
Last of Us (this is a no brainer, buy it immediately.)
Heavy Rain
God of War Saga Collection, God of War Ascension
Uncharted Greatest Hits Dual Pack, Uncharted 3
InFAMOUS Collection
Jax and Daxter Collection
The Sly Collection
Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix
ICO/Shadow if the Colussus HD Collection
Journey Collector's Edition
Final Fantasy X HD
Tales of Symphonia Chronicle's
Red Dead Redemption GOTY Edition
Capcom Essentials Collection
Little Big Planet 2 Special Edition
Two Worlds
>Everything listed here can be had for less than $30, most around $20, and many of them are 2-5 games per purchase and set you into a franchise.
>If you find Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection for around $50, BUY IT. Otherwise, probably best to skip it. Tough series to jump into around 5.
>And whatever you do, get PlayStation Plus immediately. If you buy a year it works out to a few dollars per month (newegg had a year for $40 recently on eBay) and you get 2-3 PS3 games every month, AND you get Vita, PS4, and PSP games. "BUY" THESE TOO! They are free and accessible as long as you have a PS+ account once you "tag" them to your account. If you every buy a PSP, Vita, or PS4 on the cheap you will have an instant and extensive back catalog of games ready to go.
>Oh, and Uncharted 3 is currently free on PS+ but expiring soon!
EDIT: Amazon has the Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection for $55 ($60 shipped) currently. I thought I had a deal on it for $45, but the reseller cancelled it after I posted it on here saying that had an "inventory error" (they showed they had numerous copies in three of their brick and mortar stores and were out of stock at one, so I find that hard to believe they didn't have at least the copy I ordered - more like they got flooded with 30-40+ orders at once and realized they were selling it pretty far below the going rate.)
It just popped back up on amazon this weekend ($50)

Hold of on getting MGS4 until this comes out: http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO
I'd recommend the Legacy Collection if you can find it for fairly cheap. It keeps going in and out of print it seems.
LINK
The God of War Saga and the Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection.
for Metal Gear Solid, you can start with Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes on GameCube (will also play on a Wii), then get the Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection on PS3 to play MGS 2, 3 and 4.
EDIT: Oh I just noticed you only have the PS3 and PS2. You'll have to get the PS1 version of MGS on the PSN.
Lots of nanomachines and badass battle tanks. Philosophy and shit. Buy a PS3 and the Legacy Collection + Metal Gear Rising, and that's everything.
Edit: I forgot to mention Ground Zeroes. You'll need that, too.
basically a PS3 and MSG Legacy Collection get you everything pre-MSGV.
If you want to play Portable Ops (technically canon but not really necessary) you can emulate it on PC with PPSSPP.

Sony tried...and failed (I assume -- I haven't seen those things in a long time). While I haven't used one, I can only imagine the eyestrain and headaches that would induce.

Yes, it looks like it because it's the PS3 TV. I got on sale at BestBuy for about 150. http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3D-display-3/dp/B0050SZ49Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1368806674&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=ps3+tv

I think the previous users that have asked about this product were met with these general responses:
If you do decide to get it, make sure to get the extended warranty. You're likely going to need it.
You can hear them here:
Red Dead Redemption
GTA 4
Seriously though, in RDR, Ron was a blacksmith, if I recall. As he said yesterday, it sounds like Ron Bennington, if he was voicing a video game character.
I don't recall him being in GTA. I know one of the radio stations has a talk show, featuring Fez & Patrice. I need to go back and play that just to hear two people who used to be great on the radio, but for whatever reason, you can't hear them anymore.
:(
Not sure about your budget, but Game of the Year Edition is only $20.
[Undead Nightmare] (http://www.amazon.com/Red-Dead-Redemption-Nightmare-Playstation-3/dp/B004918C4M/ref=sr_1_1_title_1?s=videogames&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1374261220&amp;sr=1-1&amp;keywords=undead+nightmare) alone appears to be $15.
Base game tho; undead nightmare is the standout and it's 10 bucks.
Should be like 22 bucks if you pick up both, so you might as well snatch it from amazon for 21 bucks and get the rest of the dlc
Except they do afaik?. There's clearly a buy new option.
Buy it right now. 360, PS3. Also, the Undead Nightmare expansion is also fantastic. It is one of my favorite DLCs of all time. It is up there with Old World Blues (F:NV) and The Ballad of Gay Tony (GTAIV)
http://www.amazon.com/Jak-Daxter-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B006JKAS16
Still haven't added the Jak and Daxter HD collection...
It's not hard for a newcomer to start into the series--there are currently 10 stories to experience (9 console games, and a mobile phone game that's been made into a movie). Everyone sort of talks about how complicated the story is, but really, the series isn't as complicated as newcomers like to joke :) It's just that it was hard to play them all from 2002-2012 when they were spread out across different platforms, and skipping out on one of the games essentially meant skipping out on a story that drove the overall plot forward. But now that they're all remastered as PS4 bundles, it should be fairly easy for fans old and new to catch up with the overarching story before KH3 is released.
---
What makes the series fun is how deep the lore goes. If you want to start the series with a PS4, you should wait for the $50 "Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix", a collection of the first six remastered titles that'll be released on March 28. Afterward, if you enjoy the games, KH2.8 contains the final three. If you happen to get a hold of a PS3 and you don't want to wait, the $17 "Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix" collection contains the first two games of the series (Kingdom Hearts and the sequel KH: Chain of Memories) and a movie for the third (Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days).
Grab KH 1.5 and keep an eye out for KH 2.5. Both are graphical improvements of the Final Mix games on the PS3, with some added scenes and other fun stuff.
Prototype is similar to Infamous with the open world fantasy stuff. You should probably check out the Uncharted Series, as I think you can get the first two for dirt cheap in a bundle. I enjoyed Final Fantasy XIII (don't know how popular that opinion is): it is a really really pretty game with a decent story and a fun combat system.
There have been a lot of Kingdom Hearts games that have come out since Kingdom Hearts 1 came out in 2002. There's been the first game, Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts 2, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Kingdom Hearts Coded, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance, and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep 0.2 -A fragmentary passage.
The collections are the newest versions of these games. Kingdom Hearts 1.5, Kingdom Hearts 2.5, and Kingdom Hearts 2.8 are the collections. Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 is just both of those two collections on a single disc, but made for the PS4 rather than the PS3.
The cheapest way to get these games is either to get 1.5+2.5 and 2.8 used, or to buy The Story So Far, which is a digital version of all of the collections, which include all of the games so far. It's only $40, and you get six games and three movies (358/2 Days, Re:Coded, and X: Back Cover are all movies). All in One is exactly like The Story So Far, but also includes Kingdom Hearts 3. It's $100, so you don't save any money by getting All in One rather than The Story So Far.
My whole point being that you shouldn't pay more than $40 USD for all of the games prior to Kingdom Hearts 3.
Alrighty, here's my entry. Went with a maroon-ish color, hope that counts as red. :3
Edit: Forgot to put what I'd like if I win. If shipping isn't included, I would like this(cutting it kinda close price wise, I know).
You're in luck, in light of the new console generation most the greatest hits available for the PS3 are available for half their original price or less some even available in combo packs.
• Any title from the Ratchet and Clank series. The original trilogy is available on one disk on amazon with remastered HD graphics for $19 as well as All 4 one for ten bucks.
• The UNCHARTED series is praised as one of the best exclusives on the console to date and will not fail to impress.
• If you're a Sonic fan or not these games are fun.
• A few other gems that are worth a look.
No idea, but the artbook is still a pre order bonus on amazon.

My items - $50 Xbox hard drive and a $40 Kingdom Hearts preorder, which it is possible to gift since it's a physical item!
My favorite person and the person I love most, without a doubt, is my girlfriend /u/MeghanAM. She is smart, talented, funny, loyal, dedicated, devoted, and every positive adjective in between. She adores me with such a sincere tenacity that I never even thought possible, and I adore her just as much. She is so amazing at talking through issues about me, issues about herself, issues about others and the world. She is supportive and loyal in every situation, even ones where she has no stake or doesn't agree for some reason. I don't have any secrets from her which is incredibly liberating and wonderful. She makes me feel worth something, a feeling I've never had before. I love you, honey. You're the best.
I tried to draw her, but I'm a terrible artist. Now the love of my life looks like an awkward transvestite potato :(

Yeah, there was a FFX/FFX-2 Remaster
I'm gonna make your day
This says limited edition but it's relatively cheap D:
If you have a ps3 id grab the legacy collection its pretty cheap. its the way to play every game (And if your new i might just recommend playing 3 and peace walker then wait for MGS V then play the rest. Because 3 and peace walker are the complete beginning of metal gear) If you have any timeline questions i can help. But id say the legacy collection is the best http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1408065049&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=legacy+collection+mgs
I wish we would get this Collection instead since the 360 never got mgs4 and was the reason why i owned a ps3 last gen cause i am a huge MGS fan.
Perhaps, I'm simply pointing but that starting off in MGS5 would be like reading A Dance with Dragons without reading the first 4 Game of Thrones books.
If you own a PS3 you can get all the games (except AC!D and Portable Ops, both of which aren't really important) in a single package.
http://www.amazon.ca/Metal-Gear-Solid-HD-Collection/dp/B0050SX97I
Edit: or this if you want mgs 1 and 4
Probably should have been clearer.
http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO
"The Legacy Collection includes Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2, Metal Gear Solid 2: HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid 3: HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid 4 Trophy Edition and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD Edition
Also includes Metal Gear Solid 1 and Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions via included voucher codes"
I'm planning on getting into the MGS series but I'm just waiting for this, it will be cheaper. :)
There's actually 2 games before Metal Gear Solid itself, titled Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2.
I assume that what you're saying is you can source for the other metal gear titles individually and haven't actually bought or played them yet.
You can still find the original PC game on amazon used here
However you're in luck that the legacy edition for PS3 has been announced and is coming in July which collects the original Metal Gear up to Peacewalker Here
There's more in the series that you can find under the metal gear wikipedia article (metal gear acid, rising and some versions that came out on handheld devices)
Or, if you want to wait a month, you can pick up the Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection and have everything Metal Gear you need in one pack, including Metal Gear Solid.
just like da-man said, grab the Legacy Collection and play the games in chronological order, that'll get you up to speed. Even if you don't have much time, the games themselves are relatively short so you can probably beat each of them in two days if you sit down and really play them. I highly recommend it, it's a great franchise, and the spin-off is great too.
I recommend you to start with this, if you have access to a PS3: Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection
The story is a huge part of MGS and starting with 5 could be quite confusing. I suggest that you play at least MGS3 and Peacewalker first. The events from MGS Ground Zeroes and therefore MGS 5 connect directly to these two games.
If you want to play all games in the chronological order: MGS 3, MGS Peacewalker, MGS Ground Zeroes, MGS 5, Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2, MGS, MGS 2, MGS 4 (There are more games in the series, but these are the main ones. Also, I'm not saying, that this is the best way to play the games, but one possible way.)
Just order off amazon...
http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO
Then buy revengance... maybe ground demo if you i to that and wait for 5 to be cheap.
While they are still available, you should really grab the Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection ($23.99 USD) which includes Metal Gear 1 and 2, as well as Metal Gear Solid, MGS2 HD, MGS3 HD, MGS: Peace Walker HD, and MGS4. If you want to go digital, you could get the HD collection and you would only be losing out on MGS4, which fine since it's easily the worst Metal Gear game.
Don't worry we get this one every few hours.
Technically you can play all of them on ps3 but I'd recommend getting V (Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain) on ps4. The others (mg1, mg2, mgs, mgs2, mgs3, mgs4 and mpw) you can find bundled in metal gear solid legacy collection on ps3 (https://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO)
And as a side note portable ops isn't necessary since it's only kinda sorta canon but you can find it in the vita store. Mg rising is an optional spinoff as well.
Yea I got the HD collection for PS3. Has every game in the main Metal Gear timeline
http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1419121595&amp;sr=1-1&amp;keywords=metal+gear+solid+legacy+collection+ps3
What's the best way to play MGS 1 in 2014? I don't own an original PlayStation so it's not like I'm about to buy an old copy of that off ebay or something.
I did find this collection though it seems overpriced and isn't sold directly by amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO
The Legacy Collection on PS3 comes with everything (even codes for MGS1 and VR missions on PSN) pre MGSV. Then just get GZ and TPP on PS4.
there was like an "HD Collection" that was indeed missing 1 and 4. But then legacy came out maybe a year later? http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1450293753&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=metal+gear+solid+legacy
If you have a PS3, you can pretty much play the entire series with one purchase.
Legacy Collection
This has everything except Portable Ops and MGS5.
Ah, I should've provided some explanation for the Cobra doc.
1st, none of the features are in any particular order. They don't have levels yet.
2nd, I was just trying to write down as many things as I could about the Cobras' abilities and how they might translate into 5e mechanics, so there are bound to be overlaps.
I suppose actually knowing what the Cobras can do would be the critical factor, so I highly recommend you purchase yourself a copy of MGS3 (or the Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection).
MGS3 is a great place to start, because that is game that is the earliest in the chronological order of the game history, set in time prior to all the other game settings!
>There's not a single disclaimer on the packaging or any online listing stating that MGS1 and the VR missions were a one-time only download code.
Oh
Really?
So buy this instead.
Go buy this:
http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO
And get ready for some awesome gaming. Highly advise in playing the order the games were released due era of gaming each iteration came from. This helps you appreciate the games a bit more as they change control wise.
I just recently purchased the Legacy Collection for 44 dollars on Amazon with the digital graphic novels. Excellent deal.
http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO
As stated before, your best bet if you don't have a PS3 is to check if the HD collection is available for PS Now, and if you're willing to pay the price and if your connection is good, you're set.
There are two collections available for the PS3, though.
For anyone else reading who had a similar question, my choice would be Legacy Collection since it's $43 on Amazon right now. I personally don't care for MGS4 or the Ashley Wood artbook that's included but for everything that you get, it's a good deal.
EDIT: A word or two.
You can get a used PS3 pretty cheap now and the MGS legacy collection is under $45 on Amazon
If I wanted to play the whole story from the beginning would I get the legendary edition on amazon? http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00CTKHXFO/ref=ox_sc_sfl_image_2

I just played the first MGS for the first time ever about 6 months ago. The graphics aren't the greatest but I still thought it was a lot of fun and has aged decently well.
All of the MGS series is heavy on story. If you skip MGS1 I would at least watch a let's play on youtube or a story synopsis.
I would recommend getting the legacy collection and if you find you don't like the first game you can always skip it.
http://www.amazon.com/Konami-20294-Metal-Legacy-Playstation-3/dp/B00KTZELMY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1458841293&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=metal+gear+solid+legacy

Probably this. It's the main item on Amazon for PC and PS3, standard and collector's editions. It's sold by Amazon themselves, so this is the pre-order code one.
The thing is, if we are pre-ordering, we get early access, so we will already have the game installed via download anyway, so I don't really care whether it's release day delivery or not.
Amazon has more PS3 collectors editions in stock now.

This is where I got mine for a similar price
Ico and Shadow of the Colossus just got reissued for PS3. There is Katamari Forever for PS3 as well, though you've likely seen most all of it already (but not in HD).
My taste in games doesn't overlap much with yours, but regardless there are plenty of games on the PS3 and not the Wii to justify buying one. maybe Valkyria Chronicles, or Eternal Sonata? And I've never played it, but you might look at Resonance of Fate.

You can get the PS3 version from amazon.co.jp here.

It's through a third party vendor (Games Oasis). It says "sold in the US on 11/11/11", but no guarantee of the delivery date. I need the PC version,though...
Oh absolutely.
I'm sure I could find you more!

I have a soulution for you, Friend.
Dark Souls. PS3 XBOX360 PC
It is tough, but fair, and it might just be everything you ever wanted in a game.
If you want PS+ with it, absolutely. And you should, since PS+ rotates through some of the best games in the PS3's huge back catalog and offers them for free. I've also found it great for games I wouldn't normally risk the money on that I've turned out to love.
Since you get more out of PS+ the longer you have it, if it interests you, now is the time to get it. The free games you will get between now and any possible PS3 price drop will more than cover the difference.
If you're not interested in PS+, then it comes down to whether it's worth it to you personally to wait for a few months to save $50-100.
I would suggest one of these models, depending on which games interest you. Having a 500gb drive is a big advantage to these models, and the other bundle game (Uncharted 3) has a smaller hard drive... and the game is free on PS+ right now.

If you take the plunge, welcome to the PC + Console lifestyle! I think you'll enjoy your broadened horizons as much as I did :)
*Edit: Added GT 5 bundle, which also has Infamous 2!

Probably either this PS3 Bundle, this 3DS XL preferably with Monster Hunter Ultimate and Etrian Odyssey IV. Or this Wii U.
Here's a good start
Luckily, you won't have to. The HD collection came out today.
metal gear solid hd collection has all the metal gear games besides V and allows you to play them in chronological order of the story so its more cohesive.
Yes. There are a few other games like Portable Ops, and Metal Gear 1 and 2 (Not Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2, Metal Gear 1 and 2, the ones for the MSX2 console). But it's not 100% vital you play those and besides they aren't made for the PS3 or PS4. And you'll need a PS2 to play
Getting the Metal Gear Solid HD collection for PS3 gets you everything except MGS4.
I think it depends on if you played the 2 remastered games or not and if you have a PS3 or 360 or not.
If you have a PS3 or 360 then get the HD collection for that instead, because it's $40 but includes all three games.
http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B0050SX97I
For whatever reason (space?) the Vita version only has 2 games instead of 3.
You need to catch up! Get the Metal Gear Solid collection

I've been partial to the Far Cry series and have put countless hours into it.
In terms of fun, creative gameplay in a colorful world that can suck you in, other have suggest Bioshock... I would add the Ratchet & Clank Collection.
I would also add: Just Cause 2 and 3.. it's an open sandbox world with tons of creative ways to dispatch enemies (you have rocket boosters to attach to anything and grappling hooks that allow you to link & manipulate yourself/people/vehicles/buildings/statues/objects/explosives/etc.)
Found this
I beg to differ:
Ratchet & Clank Collection
God of War: Saga Collection
At the very bottom of the page, in the blue rectangle that says "Feedback," is an option for "Tell us about a lower price"

That's how Sony's very own PlayStation TV worked.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0050SZ49Y
As for the full screen split screen, I think it has less to do with the glasses and more to do with the type of TV. As far as I know, it's called Simulview, and it only works if you have this tv:
Check out the video.

I identify the most with games and books. But in this case, most likely games, If you're okay with going 5 bucks over 20, then This would be nice
If you're really set on a price under 20 and 20 only. This would be Nice But if you don't have prime, Then this Would work
Or you can give me a gift card so you can add to a current running fund I have for a game that I want. Thank you for the contest and much love.

You mean like under $20 new? Maybe they don't have digital distribution for it, but it definitely is easily available for a reasonable price.

29th May: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
29th May: ICO and Shadow of the Colossus HD Collection
29th May: Demon’s Souls
5th June: Rayman Origins
5th June: Coconut Dodge Revitalised
You'd pay $150 for that? I've got a used car I'd like to sell you!
$13 for Amalur
$18 for ICO+Shadows
$18 for demon souls
$16 for rayman, cheating on xbox
And coconut dodge is 99p.
And hell, if you'd buy those games at that price, I still call BS. Amalur bombed so hard it brought down a company, ICO/Shadows is very old, though good games, and Demon souls is ancient. And rayman? That's 2 + years old too. This is the type of game pack you see on Humble Bundle for $5.
And that's not even mentioning the fact you don't own these games, you are loaning them.
You'll need a Blu-Ray driver that reads PS3 discs to rip the disc. There's a list on our quickstart guide.
Provided you have one, you can buy a copy at the game at https://www.amazon.com/Demons-Souls-Playstation-3/dp/B002AB7TX8 or some used store you may have near you.
Well, I'd say that Red Dead has a better single player campaign, for sure. Actually, it has a pretty epic story. But Battlefield has a more fun online component. Red Dead's gets maybe a little boring after a few hours.
If you believe your brother is pretty hard-core, you could always turn to Demon's Souls.
Amazon is the only place that has Red Dead Redemption for 45. You can't judge any other stores based on Amazon because Amazon deals with such quantities that they can offer prices that are so retardedly low that not even distributors can match them. (Case in point: Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks has been $18 at Amazon for several months and all the main distributors to retail chains are still selling it at over $20.)
You'll also find that Amazon puts stuff on sale every single day. Something can be $23 one day and back up to $39.99 the next. For instance, Demon's Souls is now $38.95 on Amazon, and used copies, at eStarland are from $19.50 to $32.50.
But that's not really my point. Point is--eStarland offers trade-in values that blow the others out of the water, especially where classic games are concerned. And as for selection (related to gaming), eStarland has Amazon, Walmart, and Gamestop beat.
No need to import Demon's Souls. Its out today.
http://www.amazon.com/Demons-Souls-Artbook-Soundtrack-Playstation-3/dp/B002AB7TX8
Check ebay for used -- best I saw was $11 but with $6 shipping, you're better off getting it NEW from Amazon for $17. If you have Amazon Prime (or you have an a friend or relative that would buy it for you that does, shipping is free. If prices are the same or slightly higher for new, I still go new every time. Best of luck in your hunt.

Definitively Demon's Souls Worth every penny and then some!
There's collections for all 3 series. Sly Cooper Collection, Ratchet & Clank Collection, and Jak & Daxter Collection.
The only thing is that the R&C collection is missing Deadlocked, my third favorite one. Good thing I still have it on PS2, though. Other than that, those are pretty much the entire series. All of Sly Cooper is on PS3 now, all main series Jak & Daxter are on PS3, and all Ratchet & Clank minus Deadlocked are on PS3.
Well for platformers i,d recommend the Jak and Daxter Collections (if you haven't played them yet) and the Sly Series(1 to 4)
As for Action-adventure only a few comes to my mind: The Infamous series (basically it is an action open-world\Sandbox game with comics-style story) and the Batman Arkham series (a really great game series).
They made one on the PS3, there you go
According to Amazon you can play split screen co-op on PS3.

$55 and a $20 credit (making it $35 if you use Amazon)

Welcome back!
Here's my list of suggestions, why, and links to where to get them. A few are only available on computer, but you'll see which ones:
As for if you should give 1 or 2 gifts, I think 2 might be a lot of fun! But it might depend on what the "1st place" person has on their list and what you want to give them! I'd say make the decision based off of what you want to give the main winner! =)

EDIT - 3DS Games to consider:
edit 2: P.S: I'm new. I'll be making an intro post hopefully tonight! So hopefully it's alright that I posted here first. I was just excited, as I'm a gamer and love helping people with what to play next. In any event... HI!!
edit 3: I just made my [INTRO] post. It's here if you/anyone's interested.
there is, look local multiplayer, right here.

You can get Skyrim (Standard Edition) on Amazon for just under $30.
Background: Farrah is one of the closest, if not the closest, friends I’ve ever had. She was my choir teacher in high school and much older than I am. I’ve always been rather mature for my age, so I get along better with older people. Well, we clicked and after I graduated we became super close. As you’ll soon figure out, I loved her in more ways than one.
Reason: I don’t even think I have the words to properly describe how grateful I am that she is my friend, how much love I have for her, or just how much I admire her. I think she is absolutely amazing. I could gush on for hours about how amazing I think she is. She is incredibly friendly and loving. It is a blessing to know that God saw fit to create people like her and allow me to be blessed by her presence and faith. I think she is completely insane, well, maybe not completely (that’s reserved for me) but she’s up there.
She was there for me, although not in the flesh, my first semester as a freshman in college. I had no friends and was incredibly lonely. We texted, talked, and/or messaged daily. Looking forward to talking with her is what got me through the day. She gave me new eyes to look through and a different perspective. I believe she helped me grow a lot as a person, challenging me to better myself and ask questions. She understands me better than anyone I’ve ever met. I could look at her and not say a word and she’d know what I was feeling and, if necessary, how to comfort me.
I think she’s beautiful, externally and internally beautiful. External: I love her eyes. (Then again, that is probably because I have always been an eye person.) They are so expressive and so full of love. I love the way her lips pucker when she says and describes something she thinks is ‘beautiful’. I find it adorable. I love her smile. When she smiles, it seems as if all is right with the world. I love her passion for life and her passion for living it. I love her passion for God; it is inspiring and gives me faith. I love her passion for passion; it frightens and excites me. I love how humble she is. As often as people (and I) tell her that she is amazing, she never lets it go to her head. I love her sense of humor. I love how she’s not afraid to make a joke that is ‘wrong’ by every standard. I love how she is so unafraid to speak her mind. It’s so refreshing.
Now to clear up any… issues. I was over 18 when I met her, so don’t fear of some illegal activity or whatever it is people jump to conclusions about. Secondly, although the love is shared, the romantic love is not and mine goes unrequited. We are still friends to this day although from a greater distance due to life taking us in different directions.
I'm really sorry about the length. If it's too long I can modify it.
EDIT: Add drawing and items
A game I do simply adore is Skyrim for PS3. I grew up with a single mom and the only video game love she showed me was the PS1 with games like Spyro and Tony Hawk XD I got addicted to this game when it came out and played on my friend's console. It was so fun, I couldn't believe it when I looked at my phone and 8 hours of my life slipped away. Right, now, I don't have any games like this for my system.
Eggplant Wizard
Thanks for the 1.21 Gigawatts powered contest.
My plans: I spent today trimming the trees in my front yard, this required saws and ladders and was generally a royal pain in the ass. I was hoping I wouldn't have to do it on account of the weather, but of course after 20 consecutive days of rain, it stayed clear and dry. I am quite glad it's over. Tomorrow our neighbor is having a birthday party so beer, bbq and bounce houses will be prominently involved.
This game would be pretty rad.
Skyrim used on ammy ~$35

There's some that are $25ish bucks here. You can also sign up for whats called Amazon Prime, it's free and it gives you free shipping for some items
Thank you for the contest :D
I want to see Final Fantasy 15. I know they're going to show the HD version of 10 and 10-2, and I'm super excited for that (definitely buying it~~). But I really wish there would be more news about 15. The Final Fantasy series is one of my favorite series. And apparently, 14 will be available on PS3, which would be pretty cool since I don't own a gaming computer. I'm still working my way through 13, and can't wait for Lightning Returns.
I've been bursting at the seems wanting to talk about E3. Thank you for the opportunity!
This game used would be great. It'd hit about $11. Or this one, which would be about $6 used.
That's hardly cheaper than console games. btw, Steam's regular prices are usually higher than what would normally cost you to buy a physical disk.
http://www.amazon.com/Dark-Souls-Playstation-3/dp/B004NRN5EO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1370994356&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=dark+souls
Ok that is what I am doing. If you care not for graphic improvements or think the game already looks good I guess you can get it on console. It's only $18 for PS3 and $22 for xbox or you can go the route that /u/BlocktimusMine gave you and get it for $20 is completely up to you on what feels more comfortable.
Note that you may not finish it before the second one, I have about 55 hours in and I don't feel I am close to finishing it, let alone getting any secrets or even have all the weapons or fully explore every area. For me that is fine since I intend to get the second one on PC and is going to be released later so I have time.
> The Zelda series aren't RPGs because within a given title, every player's Link is the exact same guy.
(1) By that criterion, Kingdom Hearts isn't an RPG since you're always just playing as Sora. You seem to have made a completely arbitrary distinction that action RPGs must have choices/customizable characters, but turn-based RPGs don't need to have choices/customizable characters. Why?
(2) In Dark Souls, you create you character. You choose their appearance, their class, etc. You can choose to kill NPCs or let them live. You can align yourself with a covenant (i.e., a faction) or ignore them all. How is that not enough character customization and freedom of choice/action to be an RPG?
(3) I hate to do this, but shall I just point out that literally every single source on the game says that it's an RPG? Wikipedia, Gamespot, Amazon, and so on? I mean, I get that it doesn't meet some arbitrary condition in your mind, but the world has decided that it's an RPG. By saying that it's not an RPG, all you're doing is saying that you either have a different definition of RPG than the rest of the world, you are unfamiliar with the game, or both.
As long as the ps3 doesn't sound like an airplane and actually works Id say somewhere around $150 is a good deal. Although id probably just save up for a new one, if you're in the US you can get a 500gb ps3 bundle for $280 on amazon or $270 on gamestop. There is also a cheaper 500gb console on gamestop.
I have a PS3 that was added Nov 4th 2012. Its still there cause im super poor and like to wish and pretend.
I'd say go for it; I just bought a PS3 a couple days ago, because I don't plan on getting a PS4 until I graduate college, and as Ephaxx said, it's not backwards compatible.
As for model, I bought this one; I was mostly attracted to the price, since the same amount gets a less roomy hard drive and no game.
I haven't had any problems with it so far. Compared to the 60GB launch model I was previously using that was crawling to its death, it's fantastic. I've never been a PC gamer, though, so I can't provide any comparisons there.
You linked to one on Ebay, however Amazon is currently selling it as well...
http://www.amazon.com/PS3-Assassins-Creed-Bundle-Playstation-3/dp/B0050SWQ86/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1372454652&amp;sr=8-3&amp;keywords=playstation+3
Likewise you could always go for the God of War pack if you'd prefer that type of game.
http://www.amazon.com/PS3-Ascension-Legacy-Bundle-Playstation-3/dp/B00B8J0PDE/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1372454652&amp;sr=8-4&amp;keywords=playstation+3
Both are cheaper than the 250gb ones on sale by a considerable amount.
ASSASSIN'S CREED 3 WAS THE SET I WAS LOOKING AT. THERE ARE OTHER BUNDLES BUT I'VE BEEN WANTING THAT GAME ANYWAY.
The idea that sony sets the price at $299 is a half truth. The market sets the price. I bought mine for $284 on amazon (now $277:. Oddly enough the newer model, which comes with ACIII and 500gb HDD is cheaper than older models with smaller HDD/no free game.
I don't think you could regret getting a PS3™ system right now, you'll have a great catalog of games available and since PS4™ isn't backwards compatible this is the only way you'll enjoy all those amazing games any time soon.
First of all go here and create your account, then get this PS3 - $200 or this PS3 - $279, and this PlayStation®Plus - $49.99/1 Year ($39.99 with Free BestBuy Reward Zone Gamers Club).
PlayStation®Plus gives you:
Check the PlayStation®Plus Instant Game Collection here: North America or Europe. The European PlayStation®Plus is more expensive (around $10 more), while EU gets a better Instant Game Collection, but NA gets much better discounts.
You have to "purchase" (for $0.00) the games to add them to your PlayStation®Plus Instant Game Collection when they're available, you can do it on your PC via SEN Store or on your PS3™ via PSN Store.

I got the assassins creed 3 500 GB bundle for $294 on amazon
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0050SWQ86/ref=redir_mdp_mobile
how's this?
If you have no other method of playing it, go for it. If you have a 360 or PS3, it'd be better to go for the HD Collection, which is probably the best overall (and only $24 on amazon right now!)
Here are my favorites:
And I'm really enjoying Spec Ops: The Line right now.
You can get 2, 3 and Peace Walker in the HD collection for $13 right now.
https://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-HD-Collection/dp/B0050SX97I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1480771754&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=mgs%2Bhd&amp;th=1
http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B0050SX97I(It's got the 2nd and 3rd)
The revamped graphics make things sharper and cutscenes just look great, one could say "movie-esque". Here's an old comparison video. I didn't notice that much difference in MGS, like I did in MGS2.
Gameplay was still the same from before.
Just to be clear, the collection I'm referring to is the Legacy not the HD Collection.
If anything, I'd recommend the Legacy pack. Sure, it's the HD Collection (for the most part). But, it adds in MGS4, MGS, MGS VR Missions. At $50, it's a steal.
Hahahah I didnt even bother looking up MW2s price. http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0050SX97I/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&amp;condition=used&amp;qid=1373929891&amp;sr=1-1 Metal Gear for 17
And Ratchet and Clank.
If you have a PS3, definitely grab the original trilogy first, as it's a scant 30 bucks on Amazon and has what fans call 2 of the best games in the series.
http://www.amazon.com/Ratchet-Clank-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B0050SXI6K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1462224326&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=Ratchet+and+Clank%3A+Trilogy
In terms of order, go for 2 (Going Commando), then 3 (Up Your Arsenal), then 1 (Original), as the second game does a very good job summing up the first game while having much more enjoyable gameplay to start off with.
If this is a joke, it went over my head. otherwise here you go.
I'm still a kid at heart!
Ratchet and Clank
The reason I pick Ratchet and Clank is because when I was younger, I remember my cousin playing it on his ps2. He let me pick a game for him and I chose it for the cool character on the box. So we go home and play it for like a day straight. Next time I'm leaving his house, he hands me fat PS2 with the game that he bought for me becuase I liked it so much. Ratchet and Clank is still my favourite game to date, but I dont have the HD collection for my PS3.
http://www.amazon.com/Grand-Theft-Auto-V-Playstation-3/dp/B0050SXKU4 ryan, I would never have done this deal regardless
Because that's what these companies do, they put placeholders up to get pre-orders.
WoW expansion:
http://www.amazon.com/World-Warcraft-Mists-Pandaria-Pc/dp/B0050SZBP6/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1320155589&amp;sr=1-1
GTA V:
http://www.amazon.com/Grand-Theft-Auto-V-Playstation-3/dp/B0050SXKU4/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1320155632&amp;sr=1-1
etc.
Playstation 3 games are sold both as discs and as codes.
Example
You can see in the above example, one of the versions of Grand Theft Auto V is PS3 Digital Code. If someone bought that and sent the code to OP in a personal message, he could download it on his PS3.
Unfortunately they tend to be quite expensive. They may or may not be region-locked (code from a North American site only working on North American PS3s). I'm not sure. Most physical games aren't region locked, but downloadable content often is.
Not sure who told you it's not available for launch day delivery, it says so right on the site in grreen text for me:
http://www.amazon.com/Grand-Theft-Auto-V-Playstation-3/dp/B0050SXKU4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372824193&sr=8-1&keywords=grand+theft+auto+5
Do you have Amazon Prime?
If you have Amazon Prime you can get Release Date Delivery for free, and if you pre-ordered before it was listed on site you will still get it on release day.
if you are not prime I think you have to go back into you order and select the right shipping speed.
http://www.amazon.com/Grand-Theft-Auto-V-Playstation-3/dp/B0050SXKU4
mines 60$? why
You only have to spend $80
It's the same for Amazon US preorder.
Yes, for both. It's listed right on Amazons product page. It's in bold right under the Pre-order bonus info.
I agree this is an extreme example, but i find it infuriating retail stores charge almost double what the US pay and then complain the retail sector is losing business to the internet and are demanding taxes for goods bought on the internet under $1000, atm there is no tax.
With your example you linked Max Payne 3 on PS3 game at JB HI-FI and the same game on PC at Amazon there's not much of a difference in price, but if you want the game just for PS3 it is $29 at JB HI-FI and $15.34 on Amazon almost double at JB HI-FI
Also pre-order GTA V at JB HI-FI for $99 or $59.99 at Amazon
And you're right i am shocked EB games are still in business as well
Matthews I hate to say it but like...you'd be trading a used copy and here's what the price is http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0050SXKU4/ref=sr_1_1_olp?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1407355066&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=grand+theft+auto+5+ps3&amp;condition=used so like about 30$. I don't know where you're finding your prices.
And anyone who doesn't think this is plausible should learn about the Nixon Administration and what they did to silence opposition through this exact type of surveillance.
If anyone wants to get a protest going via facebook campaign please let me know. I've had enough, it's time to speak out publicly about this garbage.
PS let's do it before GTA V comes out in the fall. I'll be too busy then.
[PlayStation 3D display] (http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3D-display-3/dp/B0050SZ49Y)
I got a few of these Black Friday 2012 from Best Buy for 100 bucks a pop!!!
Gotcha, and it is only compatible with a freesync monitor I assume. Hm. I have a Sony that I'm hoping will perform well for the 1080p gaming I'm shooting for
Oh sorry I didn't realize that it wasn't in my saved list.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139027
(This is my PSU)
For my monitor I currently using this because I had it already before making my Pc
http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3D-display-3/dp/B0050SZ49Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1393782802&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=playstation+tv
I found the Amazon Page with over 200 reviews. I'm still trying to decide whether to pull the trigger.
Again can you please go into to any detail? I don't much care for picture quality unless it's like OLED or something, why would this look significantly worse than other LED tvs? Is it not actually 4k or something? And how would it work for gaming?
again i'm upgrading from this thing https://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3D-display-3/dp/B0050SZ49Y how would they compare? a TCL or Vizio is outside of my budget range. In your opinion what are the best 4k TVs of atleast 40 inches I could get for 400$ canadian or less?
&#x200B;
I got this Sony Playstation 3D Display for $200 some black friday/cyber monday 2 years ago. The image quality is fantastic but the audio is very tinny. Use headphones. There's a 3.5mm audio out on the side. Attaches via HDMI, Component, and composite connections.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0050SZ49Y/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_hHosub1NCN32M
It only came in 24 inches...
Amazon.com link
I was lucky enough to buy it at a local Best Buy during some insane Christmas sale for only $99 CAN. It came with a pair of 3D glasses, and HDMI cord and a copy of Motorstorm 3D for the PS3.
Oh, I thought this was the Playstation TV
It looks like a great choice for its price (24", 3D, 1080p) and it comes with a PS3 game and 3D glasses.
I have this monitor. Its bezel is bigger than it appears. I would take nearly anything over it. Except a lower resolution. I will probably get a 29" 21:9 monitor soon though.
That depends entirely on what those two screens are doing, could you put a map up on screen two and keep it relatively stably displayed. Probably, but I doubt you could relive your golden eye couch battling with 1 system and two screens.
However, that said, there's precedence for it on the PS3. They released a screen with a technology called Simulview that allowed 2 players with polarized 3D glasses to view separate views on the same screen.
You mean this one? It's not a bad price really, not sure it's worth it if you're not going to make use of the 3D tech though. Probably can get a better screen in your budget by now. Still look at a few reviews and weigh your options.
http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3D-display-3/dp/B0050SZ49Y
And for the record, despite the dislike that people seem to have about this TV, I've found it to be pretty incredible. I've only noticed this problem recently (not to say it hasn't always been there).
Not sure it applies to your situation, but the Playstation 3d Display allows 2 people to play games (that support the feature) with full screen display using the 3d glasses. Check out this
Err yeah just a regular monitor with speakers.
Basically these two:
https://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3D-display-3/dp/B0050SZ49Y
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003DVV8F4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_5?smid=A37SV2HWXLWXSO&amp;psc=1
Like I said, I’ll probably have a much better set up once I’ve settled in for awhile. But, can anyone even make a makeshift surround sound with those two items. I have are a few audio cables and transceiver for wireless audio.
what about the ps3 tv? http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3D-display-3/dp/B0050SZ49Y
Sony made a product some time ago for this - link - I haven't actually tried it out, but it seems very cool.
This is what I have. It is a 3D sony tv

I always get it confused the other Playstation TV (technically PS 3D Display) and got super excited.

I sold my stand alone copy & bought the GOTY edition.
$21 on Amazon!
786?
I'm not from the Canada, so here's something sub-$20 from my WL.
WiFi will give you a shit experience. Wire it or don't let people use it while you play. Quality is adjusted base on your internet and also depend on the game. Some games look like hot garbage while others look amazing. Sadly Red is a PS3 game and cannot be download for max quality. If you have a ps3 https://www.amazon.com/Dead-Redemption-Game-Year-sony-playstation3/dp/B005N4HBIW 20 dollars year edition. Also try to look for a gaming cafe and ask if they have the game.
You were about to be ripped off.
http://www.amazon.com/Dead-Redemption-Game-Year-sony-playstation3/dp/B005N4HBIW/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1375821472&amp;sr=8-5&amp;keywords=rockstar+games+collection
When you do pick it up, go for the game of the year edition, they have one which comes with all the expansions and you'll definitely want those!
http://www.amazon.com/Jak-Daxter-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B006JKAS16
Of course it's real
Not the near future, but the near past:
https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/UP9000-CUSA02522_00-JADBUNDLE0000001
There is also a PS3 re-make/remaster as well:
https://www.amazon.com/Jak-Daxter-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B006JKAS16
Unless you mean a new game like Jak 4? Then no, but maybe the distant future. But still prob not :(
Is the fan working? Anyways, you could always buy a new ps3 and this to go with it. Good luck.
Jak and Daxter, I suppose. Though I don't need it like I need these boring, yet hugely useful cables.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B006JKAS16/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1370983552&amp;sr=8-2&amp;pi=SL75
I would recommend picking up the 1.5 and 2.5 edition of the games for the PS3 rather than the original. Basically those editions compile the Final Mixes of 1 and 2 and also throw in a few of the side-games that contribute to the lore but weren't originally on the playstation platform. The overall story is difficult to follow unless you really sit down and devote yourself to understanding it. I would highly recommend this series regardless.
There is minor slapstick comedy but it isn't very intrusive. The game handles mainly themes about love and friendship.
If you have a PS3, you can get the HD remixes!
1.5 and 2.5
is a ps3 all you got? because paper mario is a pretty bright, cheery series, but it's nintendo only, obviously.
ff9 is on psn, and is a pretty happy game, for the most part. i think lunar: silver star story is on psn, too. kingdom hearts lets you play out disney movies, which is pretty happy, and the ps3 remake is $20 on amazon.
This is what the other comments are talking about, ftr.
2.I mean... I could say that I'm not proud of wanting this, but I'd be lying to us both... http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008SBZD5U/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&amp;colid=EXALET0CUED3&amp;coliid=I1AMMIS1Q4JPMM&amp;psc=1
If you're really interested, then the best possible way to do so is to get Kingdom Hearts 1.5 ($20 on Amazon) & 2.5 (also $20 on amazon) on the PS3. They're HD ports of the Final Mix versions of the games. Buying those two discs will give you 6 out of 7 Kingdom Hearts games. The last one, Kingdom Hearts 3D, will be coming to the PS4 later this year.
Anyway, let me know if you have any other questions about it or anything. GL HF!
If you buy The Story So Far, you get every game that's not KH3 represented in some way. It's a pretty good value as you get five games, one smaller game/tech demo, and three movies.
If that's too much, just grab 1.5 + 2.5 Collection. This gives you four games and two movies, and contains KH1 and KH2.
If you're not working with a PS4, you'll need to buy 1.5 and 2.5 separately.
There's always those PSOne classics on PSN.
Also 2 high profile JRPGs from the PS2 era are getting HD re-releases soon. Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix is coming out early Sept and Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD is due out before the end of the year. If you pre-order them now you get a free upgrade to the limited edition too!
Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Remix
It doesn't even come out till next month, so I have plenty of patience.
http://www.amazon.com/Kingdom-Hearts-1-5-Remix-Playstation-3/dp/B00BKWQA2Y
On that page it says you will. Maybe its your location? Not sure.
Ever play the original Bioshock or Bioshock 2? I enjoyed those two just as much as Infinite.
As for digging out your PS2, you can wait until September if you want to play the KH HD 1.5 ReMix. Basically you get to play KH1 and Re:CoM with new abilities, commands, enemies, and new KeyBlades (iirc). Best of all it's been remastered and it's in HD! But it's also worth mentioning that you can watch 358/2 days as a movie which has also been remastered (and given additional cutscenes I believe). Oh and there's Trophy support. They're doing this for KH 2 as well and it's been hinted at somewhere, but I'm too lazy to find it. They're going to release a KH 2.5 HD ReMix with KH 2, Re:Coded, and Birth By Sleep. Unfortunately Dream Drop Distance will still have to be purchased for the 3DS if you intend on playing it as it's not expected to be part of the 2.5 bundle. After this is released, KH 3 is expected next.
Garry's Mod, holy flapdads, it's amazing. You just walk around and do whatever the hell you want, and there are so many mods. I currently can swing around like spiderman, have shootouts with Batman and the monsters from Amnesia, dance with Hitler in the Ed Edd and Eddy Cul-de-sac, run from Teletubbies in a haunted hotel, all while dressed as Hatsune Miku. And if that doesn't sound fun enough, there's up to 12 player multiplayer, and you can leave sandbox mode and have a really for real gun fight. Or lightsaber fight. Or Iron man suit fight. Or kill each other dramatically with the gun from the Dear Sister SNL skit.
You can do near everything you want, I can't stop playing.
If you do pre-orders, I'd love this.
If not, A PSN card will be perfect!
Then I could get Katamari for my Vita, along with Rayman origins and some other goodies :D
Thanks for the awesome contest, man. You ROCK.
Well you can't go wrong with any of the LEGO games. I've recently been replaying LEGO Star Wars: the Complete Saga on my PS3 (even if its about to be "incomplete"!!!!). I've also really loved playing Epic Mickey and Epic Mickey 2 since it not only let's you play as Mickey Mouse, but I love the idea of a shattered, dystopian vision of everything Disney...something hardcore Disney nuts like me should hate! It's the same feeling I had when I played Kingdom Hearts once upon a time, which is why I can't wait for this to com out since I can't play the originals on my busted PS2 and won't be getting a PS4 anytime soon either :(

Ah so just in UK based stores. They only have specific stores stocking it in the first place which you could check on the official website.
I don't know how it works in UK but I live in Australia and I ordered from the [normal USA Amazon] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BY0G0YU/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&amp;psc=1&amp;smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER) just fine. Checked the official website and they say besides Zavvi you can get it at some place called Shopto. It appears there's still stock from the listing. That's not adequate either?
It seems strangely unfair that it'd be completely closed out to you UK guys when it's still open for other countries.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BY0G0YU/ref=oh_details_o07_s01_i00?ie=UTF8&amp;psc=1
I got it pre-ordered at 40, I doubt there will be a decrease in the price at any point before it's released.
It's definitely a good game, and belongs in the series. Purists feel like it's a far departure from the others, though. I enjoyed it.
Your best bet would probably be to get MGS Legacy Collection, which includes HD remakes of MGS 2 and 3, plus MGS4. If you can find an unopened one, it also includes PSN codes for downloads of MGS 1 and MGS 1: VR Missions
What's this then?: https://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_63_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&amp;psc=1&amp;refRID=KYMRNBZCBP8VNPZNJZBW
Edit: Just reread your comment. I thought it was a port.
I picked up MGS:V at a pawn shop for 20 bucks recently and instead of playing it I shelved it for now because I have never completed a MGS game before (had a brief experience with MGS3 when someone sold it to me with my first PS2 many many years ago) So I picked up the MGS Legacy collection on amazon for 23 bucks (Link) and played the very first Metal Gear! It was extremely frustrating but surprisingly addicting and fun! I never want to hear the soundtrack again but now I'm on to Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake and excited to start Metal Gear Solid finally and be able to play the first one on the Vita!
(if someone decides to pick this up because of this post let me save you some frustration, the two MSX Metal Gear games are inside Metal Gear 3 on Disc 2 of the legacy edition)
haha no worries here's the amazon link http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO, here's the wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_Gear_Solid:_The_Legacy_Collection
it's got extra cool shit in it as well, the only thing that's missing is twin snakes which is a bummer but you still get great value with it.
Major Mayhem
Party Of Sin
Shattered Haven
Vanguard Princess
I'll take any of them, but if I must choose, Party of Sin
I just dont have the time to play these
http://smile.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1395556512&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=metal+gear+solid+legacy+collection
i am sorry for the prices but that's where i found it, i assume ebay would also have it.
Shouldn't the text be evenly in the center? It looks... off. I bought the JPN region one so I'm not sure how this one should look (US/PAL?)
EDIT: http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO Centered text... What region is it?
$49.96 preorder on Amazon.com right now. That's a great deal.
I'm waiting for the Legacy Collection!
http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO
HD edition for PS3/360 as well. 2, 3 and peace walker. Vita edition doesn't have peace walker.
Also next month on PS3.... A 50$ pack with 1, 2HD, 3HD, VR missions, 4 and peace walker. with the MSX games on the 2HD menu.
Amazon info here
Is this a good way to start, or what!?
http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1370557691&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=mgs+legacy
Almost every Metal Gear game in one box.
http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO
It's MGS2, 3, 4, and Peace Walker bundled on the disc. It is the same HD remakes as the ones on the MGS HD Collection that they released a while back, but this includes MGS4 (which is the same as the normal version of MGS4). They also give you a PSN download code for MGS1 (and the MGS VR Missions), which is not an HD remake or anything. It also has Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2 that you may access from MGS3's menu. I think it comes with some bonus material like an art book and stuff like that.
Note: this is available for PS3-only though, since MGS4 has not been re-made for any other platforms.
Well you're in luck, in ~30 days!
http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO
Seriously, play them all.
I found it pretty easy.
I'm in the same boat. Didn't jump to the PS camp until last June or so, and while I picked up the last huge MGS collection for ps3, I've not had a chance to play any of it.

was meryl in MGSIV? I know of MGS but i never gotten around to playing it since i never played the originals. Looking at the legacy addition though seems it's priced pretty well on amazon at the moment
https://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Legacy-Collection/dp/B00CTKHXFO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1499801856&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=metal+gear+solid+legacy+collection
This is what you are looking for. Unfortunately it is not on PC and Konami will probably never make a collection including GZ and TPP. Your best option is emulators at the moment. MGS was ported to PC but only exists in a physical format unless you look real hARRRGHd for it lol.

Not for PS4, just on PS3: Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CTKHXFO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_lNdnzb6RM6G57
I came here to mention this. The legacy collection is a much better deal.

They released a collection of a bunch of MGS games on the PS3. Not sure if they've done the same for newer consoles. Could be worth looking into. Emulators will always be there if you'd like, of course.

$75 D:
For example, I live in the US. If I were to buy a game from England, and I want to buy DLC for it, I would have to create an EU or British account just for the DLC for that game despite the fact that my PS3 and the IP address for my internet is American. Since you said you live in Australia (at least thats what it seems), and the bundle is off of the US Amazon site, you would have to buy the DLC for infamous and uncharted 1+2 off of the US PSN.
You're probably thinking of this collection. The MGS HD collection is the same as the 360, it's got 2, 3, and peace walker.

Is it this one?
Strictly PS4, Nathan Drake Collection.
Across all of PlayStation? MGS Legacy Collection.

It's only $26 on Amazon now. It also comes with digital codes to get MGS1 and VR Missions.
And MGS V is only $16 on PS3 for the Day One version or $25 for PS4.
On that same note, Metal Gear Rising is less than $10, Ground Zeroes is less than $10 on PS3 and less than $17 on PS4.
Basically you can have the entire Metal Gear saga on PS3 for only about $60, the price of one* brand new game.
I hope you know this exists.

For OP and anyone else looking for more Metal Gear, this is upcoming: Metal Gear Solid Legacy
> From the critically acclaimed director, Hideo Kojima, metal gear solid: the legacy collection offers the most complete metal gear solid experience ever. Featuring eight complete games, metal gear, metal gear 2, metal gear solid 1, metal gear solid 2: HD edition, metal gear solid 3: HD edition metal gear solid 4: trophy edition, metal gear solid: peace walker HD edition, and metal gear solid: VR missions along with two Ashley wood digital graphic, the legacy collection offers metal gear and stealth action fans a chance to experience all the heroic game play, compelling design and immersive storytelling of the mgs franchise in one complete package.
MGS HD collection is pretty much textbook on how not to make an HD collection. It comes with 2+3 and then a remaster of a handheld game. While Peacewalker is great, the reasons behind why they chose that and not MGS1 are forever a mystery. For a series with such an unorganized chronology, the MGS: HD Collection isn't exactly the most ideal way to get into the series.
The Legacy Collection coming out in July comes with all the titles. However only the ones included in the original HD collection are remade for HD. They give you a redeemable code for MGS 1 on the PSN Marketplace and it's just the game from 1998. I really don't know why they didn't remake every single game in HD. There is most definitely a demand for it, and they know there is too; otherwise they wouldn't be coming out with this collection.
Sorry if I'm ranting here, I'm just a little pissed at how Kojima did his Metal Gear collections.
Get this first
Is this the version to own if you have a PS3?

Get this and just play them all. My wife and I are doing this XD.
Not a big deal for me personally. I have yet to play a single MGS game but I've got this headed to my house as soon as it's released.

Persona 5 PS3 from Amazon
Playstation 3 from Amazon
---
Both new, not preowned.
Don't try pull that bullshit, the PS3 production may have ceased it's still perfectly feasible to buy the game and a new PS3 in the wild.
You might have an argument 12-18 months from now. But the emulation isn't being done in 12 months.
---
The game is also a digital download on PS3, so it's going to be a while before you can argue it's truly not available.
----
>I want a pc port. I will buy the game if its on my platform. They just dont want to sell it to me.
Which is irrelevant to that fact that you can legimately buy a new PS3 copy of the game to be a legally covered emulation. A copy which Atlus will see money from.
Your stance on this is the very reason why piracy gets emulation in shit.
Because you have an "I want it my way" attitude. And are looking for any possible excuse you can find to justify your actions.
Which is worse because emulation has provided you with a legally approved way of playing the game. Provided you go and buy a fucking physical copy.
That would be incredible. It would make P5 10x better.

Persona 5
The Last of Us
Here you got two. One from Atlus and the other one from Sony.
I'd recommend the Legacy Collection new off Amazon. I got the one without the artbook for $29.99. I wanted the codes for MGS1 and MGS VR Missions so I could download them to my Vita (MGS1 needs a PS3 to transfer in NA, FYI). Even at that price for the amount of games you're getting, this is a steal. I've only ever beat MGS 1 & 2. MGS1 for PS1 may be hard for someone who's never played it before to get into. If you played action games from the PS1/N64/Dreamcast era though you should be able to pick up and play. Easy mode is pretty damn easy for MGS games (MGS2 even has a "very easy" mode if I'm not mistaken) so if you just want to play and catch up on the story for those games, you can do so with minimal frustration. If you like a challenge, start on Normal and work your way up.
EDIT: $29.99 Canadian, FYI. Looks like it's down to $27.50 now too https://www.amazon.ca/Metal-Gear-Solid-Legacy-Collection/dp/B00KTZELMY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1466955575&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=metal+gear+legacy

$45 on Canadian Amazon
It will depend heavily on if you get a used copy or not, the download codes are most likely one time use.

That is where I bought my copy, still sealed.
This will be the release order for the game and the recommended order to view them. I started playing them from MGS1 and will play MG1 and MG2 at a later date.
Metal Gear 1
Metal Gear 2
Metal Gear Solid 1
Metal Gear Solid 2
Metal Gear Solid 3
Metal Gear Solid 4 with no gameplay
Metal Gear Solid 4 with gameplay
Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker short
Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker long
Metal Gear Solid Ground Zero
Chronologically it goes MG3, MGSPW, MGSGZ, MG1, MG2, MGS1, MGS2, MGS4.
Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain will Happen After Ground Zero.
You could jump into Phantom Pain from what I heard,
"I guess I tried to use what we did in Peace Walker to bring this motivation to Ground Zeroes. Then you might ask, will the people who didn't play Peace Walker be able to understand what is going on in the game. Well because there are 9 years between Ground Zeroes and the beginning of Phantom Pain.
So when the Phantom Pain starts, Snake is in a similar position to the player that is playing Metal Gear Solid for the first time - there is a huge blank that he need to fill in, and he has to figure out what happened during those 9 years as he completes missions. I'm trying to make the game in way that people who are playing MGS for the first time will at some point have a similar understanding and level of motivation to those who have played Peace Walker."
Link
If you'll like to play the games, Metal Gear Solid Legacy comes with all the games I mentiond exept for Ground Zero.
Have Fun
Hmm the link didn't work but I did find it finally. Not sure why I couldn't get it before. link in case anyone else is interested
Gamestop has said "you can only order this online". In the states that is.
The PS3 CE is available on Amazon As others have said, currently it seems that the PC CE is only available directly through the Square-Enix online store.
They are also offering digital versions of the CE on the SE store. As well as post release digital CE upgrades. Either way, it looks like SE is being extremely frugal with physical CE's this time around. Seeing that the last few MMOs that have released with Collector's Editions have not sold through. There are still 1.0, MoP, and Cataclysm CE's on store shelves.
I have good news for you, my son...
Yes they do.
Also, only one of those copies needs to be a collector's edition to get the bonuses, not both.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00CYNTLDS/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1373323584&amp;sr=8-1&amp;pi=SL75
It is $23 on Amazon and more expensive elsewhere. Throw in the $15 DLC which you have yet to buy and the cheapest you can get it is for $38 and for most intents and purposes that is an inferior version as well.
This already exists the the Playstation 3D TV.
It takes advantage of the screen polarization to give each player a full screen gaming experience. It appears they call it Simulview. Here is an example of it in action.
I see no reason why they can't do this for TV / films. I've also seen something similar in car navigation screens, where the drive will see the normal radio / navigation info, but the passenger could watch a movie, all on the same 7" screen.

This.
Correct.

Nice!!!
Never played Red Dead Redemption before...
I just bought the PS3 Greatest Hits Game of The Year Edition with Undead Nightmare and Multiplayer mode all together.
It will be a great weekend...
Only $21 in Amazon a week ago... Now is $27, got lucky...
Usually I have a couple of Greatest Hits old games in watchlist so I can check every time if it drops price...
Name: Skip Brogans.
Game: Brogans Before Hogans.
Red Dead Redemption please. If it ends up having tax, pushing it over $30, Dishonored on Steam would be great too.
Thank you.
do it
Correct me if I am wrong but this looks to be the north american release. It says Dec 31st
Yes without a doubt or you will lose out on a lot of the rich history of metal gear.
I mean yes it is its own storyline and all but all the characters and such bleed from one to other. You will lose a lot by not knowing them.
I would buy this baby right here and you can get them all in one shot.
http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1370830229&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=metal+gear+solid+legacy
Are you in Europe? Might be cheaper to sub to PS+ to play Ico and SotC
Okami is a must play, Spec Ops The Line, honestly, its great storywise, but not worth paying a whole lot for and the gameplay is average, similar with the walking dead, I regret walking dead for around $10, wish I waited for it to be cheaper.
Haven't played FC3 so can't comment
Also if you haven't played them, pick up the MGS legacy collection if you can afford to, great series, and you are getting a LOT of gameplay for $50 http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO
I use the official Sony PlayStation 3D Display for my gaming needs.

MGS has always come out on PlayStation platforms first. I know the first one is on PC, and there is a remake made specifically for the GameCube but it started first on PlayStation. Xbox didn't get a version of MGS2 until the Substance releases a year or so later. Until the HD collection 3 was also exclusive to PlayStation I believe.
Back when MGS4 was announced, there were technical reasons why the game was exclusive to the PS3, and I think that still holds true today considering there is an "ultimate" HD collection for PS3 that includes MGS4 and just the normal HD collection for 360 and Vita.
Edit: For those of you curious about what collection I'm talking about, it's this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO
Actually they aren't http://www.amazon.com/Final-Fantasy-XIV-Collectors-Playstation-3/dp/B00CYNTLDS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1372017430&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=final+fantasy+xiv
Pretty simple really. For those that can't handle the issues with setting up the game on their PC I recommend these simple steps.
:P j/k
