I've flavor tripped several times. Vinegar tastes like apple juice. Salt tastes like sugar. Beer tastes like grape soda. lemons tastes the best, basically like "yellow sugar" same goes for grapefruit, limes, and oranges.

Edit: Since you people think I'm the coolest person on the face of the earth, here is a link to buy http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002INDU22 and you can pay me in blow jobs.

Also buffalo chicken dip is the greatest thing with this, would recommend. Olives are good too.

  1. Get regular manicures to clean up the cuticle area. You could also look up on youtube how to do it yourself at home.
  2. Get yourself a hand cream with keratin in it, and use it often. Vaseline has one called "Healthy Hands and Nails".
  3. Use a nail treatment such as OPI's nail envy to strengthen the nail, promote its growth and deter you from biting.
  4. Take a biotin supplement daily, which can be purchased here on amazon.

All he had to do to make this significantly less challenging is eat Miracle Berry tablets. It turns sour things into sweet things. I'm not convinced he didn't do that.

Context is king.

Quote from the above study.

>A search using 5 Internet search engines and the search terms Ayurveda and Ayurvedic medicine identified 25 Web sites offering traditional Ayurvedic herbs, formulas, or ingredients commonly used in Ayurveda, indicated for oral use, and available for sale.

The near decade old study looked solely at Ayurveda websites not mainstream brands. This is not a study of 20% of all ashwagandha sold in the US moreso companies who just sell Indian herbs which potentially raises red flags on that alone.

KSM-66 was the brand used in the Testosterone study and the company is considered to have high quality standards.

http://www.ksm66ashwagandhaa.com/quality_control.html

Their material is in many brands such as;

Jarrow Formulas, LEF, Nootropic Depot, Pure Nootropics, Vitacost, Swanson, Doctor's Best, etc. As long as you buy any of these there should be no concern over metal content since the material is the same. No different than buying Suntheanine.

Best value seems to be Jarrow on amazon $11.56 for 300 mg 120 capsules so great choice OP.

https://www.amazon.com/Jarrow-Formulas-Ashwagandha-Supports-Resistance/dp/B0013OQEO8

They even have a 40% off coupon when you select Subscribe so I'll switch to this after I use my first bottle.

Edit: Formatting.

I got some off of amazon. Be sure to try anything with high acidity. Sour cream was my favorite. Tasted like cotton candy. Other things to try are cherries, oranges, lemons (best lemonaid you'll have in your life), and I kid you not but vitamin C powder. Like pixie sticks, man.

Ah hara hachi bu haha! That literally means stomach 80%. I forgot about that, should've mentioned it! It's very true that in Japan, we eat until we're not hungry, instead of eating until we're full. In fact, my sister and I even communicate how hungry we are based on that. So 80% is perfectly happy and satisfied. 85% is feeling slightly sick from eating too much. 90% is feeling physical pain from eating too much. 95% is feeling like we're going to puke because we're so full. And hungry is like... 60%. 70% is we could eat, but we wouldn't eat much at all.

That's so interesting how you bring up how stomach expansion occurs from high volume, low calorie foods like vegetables... I'm guessing you also watch My 600 lb Life and it's a common thing for the gastric bypass surgery patients to be told to NOT eat vegetables because it undoes the surgery by expanding the stomach again. That hasn't really happened to me or my family though, probably because we weren't binge eaters to begin with? I think those powerful binge urges and hunger signals come from unhealthy mental attitudes about food too, which we never really had. So that's why I feel often that I don't really belong here because my relationship to food and weight is purely a control thing for other mental fucked up things about me and I'm very rational about food and weight without it consuming my life.

And yes of course! I'm 23 years old, 5'2 or 158 cm, 81 pounds at the moment, 36.75 kg. So that's a BMI of 14.72. I've maintained a weight of 80-85 pounds for several years now and I don't intend on ever changing that. It grounds my sense of self-identity and self-worth.

I am aware of how many calories are in the things I consume, but I don't obsess over them. I do, however, pay strict attention to how much protein I eat each day and I make sure to stay on top of my multivitamin, biotin, and calcium supplements. My priority is to keep in relative good health (no real health problems yet thanks to my diligence) while staying in my 80-85 pound weight range for my own sanity.

Let's see... Every single day, I eat at least two Chobani Greek yoghurts. Currently, I hoarded the coconut flavor. So that's 150 calories and 12g protein each. That brings my absolute minimum total to 300 calories and 24g protein. But I require myself to eat 36g protein daily. So I make a sandwich! I include mustard and spinach too, but they have negligible calories and grams of protein so I didn't include them.

Sandwich: 291 calories, 20g protein

1 slice bread: 120 calories, 5g protein

35g sliced turkey: 31 calories, 5g protein

2 slices provolone cheese: 140 calories, 10g protein

And honestly, that's how the past several weeks have been for me. Two yoghurts and my sandwich, plus my multivitamin, biotin, and calcium. I also drink at least half a gallon of plain green tea every single day. I have since sixth grade. No milk, no sugar. Just the standard daily sencha I grew up with. On occasion, I drink Coke Zero. But nothing else.

So my total calories and protein each day comes out to 591 calories, 44g protein. I don't really eat anything else at all.

I don't get hungry honestly. I think the last time I was hungry was months ago. Somehow, I don't feel hunger impulses. But I force myself to eat my yoghurts and sandwich to make sure I get my protein and avoid health problems. I don't eat at mealtimes at all. I don't have a set time to eat whatsoever. In fact, it's 4:30 AM here and I ate my sandwich at 1 PM yesterday and my yoghurts at 2 AM not too long ago. My eating is really unscheduled. And I don't plan out what to eat either, not really. I have my routine of my yoghurts and sandwich down, and I don't plan anything else. If anything, I plan what foods I will buy and eat to keep my weight up. I feel guilty for spending money on food and I research a lot into how many calories I can buy for as little money as possible. When I see I hit 79 pounds, I make a conscious effort that day to buy food to regain at least a pound. I have planned and budged for buying all sorts of food, but it's still hard for me because of the guilt of spending money and not being able to eat so much in a short time. My disordered thoughts about food isn't about weight loss but more about self-worth haha.

I do try and snack when I'm not hungry, but again, I'm not compelled to lose more weight. I want to stay in my safety zone of 80-85 pounds. And I hit 79 pounds pretty often, so I try really hard to go back up to where I want to be. I find it difficult to snack though because I get full very quickly and I feel a bit ill when I push myself and eat too much. So I end up rarely snacking, even when I should.

I don't have any off limit foods. I don't fear food and I don't get panic attacks over food or anything. I do, however, dislike foods like anyone does haha. I hate mayonnaise. I dislike sugary foods in general. I'm also paranoid about the health of my teeth and gums, so I avoid soda almost entirely. I'll gladly take diet soda!

My food preferences just tend to line up with foods that are lower calorie. As a kid, I always liked sour candies you see and I strongly disliked sugary candies like chocolate. So that meant that I would snack as a child on candies with very little fat and thus fewer calories. I generally disliked eating starches too. I ate much more meat and fish than rice and noodles, much to my parents' amusement. So that meant that I was probably in a mild state of ketosis, which meant less hunger signals, so I ate less in general. I never grew up on juice or soda. I was and am a tea drinker with no sugar or milk added, so that's zero calories too. And deep fried food was a rare occasion, maybe once a month? We usually ate homecooked meals, using little oil in the pan too. It shocks me how much oil people use on cooking shows. It's so fascinating looking back and seeing how all these preferences ended up to keeping a caloric deficit from day to day. I didn't realize it at the time of course.

In fact, in high school, I once had an argument with a classmate that I was naturally thin because of my genetics LOL. I even said I couldn't gain weight and if I tried to eat more, I'd lose more weight. I cringe at myself, ugh. I didn't know any better. I only learned about calories in college. The thing is, most people don't know how calories work or how weight is something people have absolute control over. They don't see food as calories, just things that taste good. And for some people like me, the things that taste good happen to have less calories so even though we think we can't gain weight, it's just that our habits make it so we don't gain weight.

Back then, I would eat two pounds of fish and chips my dad would fry and probably have like a 2000 calorie intake for that day. But my sedentary TDEE was 1200 calories, so my caloric surplus was only 800 calories. And eating 1000 calories each day, within four days, I would've lost all the weight I would've gained from that massive caloric intake day, so I was never higher than a BMI 16 even when I had no idea what on earth I was doing.

Nowadays, I use calories to exercise control over my life and I assure you that the law of 3500 calories equalling one pound of real weight, either lost or gained, is absolutely right. In fact, that's why I'm able to manage my anxiety over special events with lots of food. I know that within a week, I will have lost any weight I gained from a wedding or whatnot, even if I don't know the calories in the filet mignon with butter sauce. I know for a fact that even if what I ate was 4000 calories, within a week, I'll be back where I started. That logic of calories brings me so much peace and mental stability despite everything else wrong in my head. :D

Wow the other answers here are annoying. Here's a RELEVANT answer since it's a SUPPLEMENT: Ashwagandha. https://www.amazon.com/ORGANIC-INDIA-Ashwagandha-Supplement-Capsules/dp/B003PGE98K

Been taking on a regular basis for 4 years to help severe chronic health issues which include(d) some of the worst possible anxiety. I also used to have thyroid imbalance and terrible adrenal fatigue which disappeared with this supplement. I used to take 4 caps a day for years, but now I take about 2 a day and not every day. Happy to answer more if needed. Lots of info online. Generally, things that take a little longer to "kick in" are going to have more steady effects, so that you will still have benefit when no longer on the supplement, or if only taking sporadically. Ashwagandha often has mild immediate effects, but it's over a period of a few to several weeks that effects become really obvious and positive. Check out the reviews and search for "anxiety." Best wishes.

u/zbobby1990 · 20 pointsr/Nootropics

Purely anecdotal, but I've been taking it daily (KSM-66, 900mg) for around seven months now and I've definitely noticed a reduction in everyday anxiety.

It hasn't done much for my social anxiety, but that nagging voice, that "WHAT IF THIS HAPPENS?!" voice that plagued me throughout the day, has been severely reduced, which is nice.

You're such a great person for taking what your nephew said seriously, and not dismissing it just because he is a child, and for being curious and looking into it, rather than ignoring it.

> Tried 3 times to go vegan but I tend to feel weak and tired with occasional dizziness after about 30 to 60 days

Take some time to learn about vegan nutrition, it's very important. Here is a beginner's guide, and a much more comprehensive guide for very deep questions.

  • http://www.veganhealth.org/

If you don't know where to start, here is a short list of cheap supplements you can buy online if you want to:

  • Daily Multivitamin containing B12 and D.
  • DHA/EPA supplement. Take daily.

For symptoms like dizziness, be sure you're especially getting enough calories (whole plant foods, especially fruits and vegetables, tend to have lower calorie density than many of the other foods we eat, so be sure to eat a variety of food groups), Vitamin B12, and iron (especially if you're a woman who menstruates or if you have a family history of anemia). If it persists, another thing you could do might be talking to a doctor or registered dietitian.

    > I want to do it for good this time and not quit!

Just start with learning one thing at a time (it could be a single recipe you cook, item in a restaurant you order, or getting in the habit of reading labels or thinking about whether what you pick up is vegan or not, etc.), and practice it until it becomes second nature. Then move onto the next thing.

Eventually you'll build up a bunch of options you'll know are vegan.

    For even more information, see:

  • Vegan outreach websites, groups or societies: Vegan Outreach, The Vegan Society, Veganuary, etc.

or if you have any questions, just ask.

Wish I would have known about this before I started taking Adderall! I've noticed the huge difference in on off days when I'm super lazy and not motivated beyond my old levels of motivation before I started taking Adderall.

Very cheap forms of vitamins that are very poorly absorbed by the body. Don't feel to bad though, Optimen was my first multi and I took it for a year when I was younger without realizing it was shit. It's on par with the shit multis they sell at walmart basically. Fear not for I know of very good multis for basically the same price. But depending on your activity life.

For an overall very good (one of the best you can get actually) multi, that's very balanced with superior forms of each vitamin, source naturals life force is the best bang for you buck, basically the same price as Optimen. https://www.amazon.com/Source-Naturals-Multiple-Activator-Capsules/dp/B000GFPD0G/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1497074875&sr=8-1&keywords=source+naturals+life+force

If you're a hardcore lifter, and/or you experience discomforts in joints or recovery, controlled labs Orange Triad is the best in this aspect because it also has very good forms of vitamins, BUT, it includes a joint/flex complex in it that would cost 45$ alone by itself at a CVS. And you get a 45 day supply for 28$, basically like a few dollars more then optimen or source naturals. I'm taking it right now and have for the past 3-4 years. I haven't experienced any joint pain during this time, amazing multi I would say. https://www.amazon.com/Controlled-Labs-Orange-Triad-Multivitamin/dp/B00104I5TS/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1497086164&sr=1-1&keywords=orange%2Btriad&th=1

Now Foods Adam Multi is also pretty damn good for the price if you want something cheaper then all of those. https://www.amazon.com/NOW-Adam-Superior-Multi-Softgels/dp/B003ENHSI2/ref=sr_1_5_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1497075275&sr=8-5&keywords=anavite&th=1

If you have any other questions of supplements you take or concerns just let me know. I've studied supplements and other nutrition info for years now.

u/fastestpooper · 10 pointsr/beer

I did a beer education just the other day - so a little different than your regular beer dinner - and did something new with it I called "Sniff School 101" that would be interesting to integrate into a dinner. We were tasting 3 beers: a lager, IPA and a wheat - before we drank the beers I wanted to give everyone a baseline of the flavors I was going to be talking about. So I had set up a cups filled with ingredients in the beers: lemon zest, grapefruit zest, malt extract, hops, clove, etc with cotton balls on top so they had to rely on their nose only. Then they all smelled then blind to 'calibrate' their palates to the flavors I was about to talk about. It was a great value add depending on the baseline craft knowledge of the people you are doing it with. Could also use jelly beans.

Regarding your beer dinner - at the end, pair a tart dessert with an IPA and a dose of Miracle Berry - that will blow their minds: http://www.amazon.com/Miracle-Berry-Fruit-Tablets-Miraculin/dp/B002INDU22

I always feel once you get past $75 bucks you should have some phenomenal beers. Its more about quality over quantity and I would cap it at 6 courses. Also saw a beer dinner that ended with a Utopias Cigar after dessert, which was cool. Good luck.

I am in love with my Rainbow Light Prenatal One vitamins! I have a sensitive stomach when it comes to multivitamins, but these are ahmaaaazing! Not even a WINK of flippy-stomach syndrome. I know my local Target sells them, and some grocery stores do too (I live in CA-USA)

Of course there are some other variations that you can find on the RL website.

Currently 15 weeks (also my mom went through 5 successful vegan pregnancies in the 80s/90s, and raised 6 healthy vegan kids to adulthood).
I take Rainbow light prenatals, and Opti3 omegas, and was taking some iron supplements while TTC.
/r/TryingForABaby is an excellent resource, no matter your lifestyle.
Just make sure you are eating enough (use a calorie tracker if necessary), and with enough variety, and you should be good!

u/[deleted] · 7 pointsr/Mommit

Expecting mom here, due in September. Here are some tips that I have. Take what you like, discard the rest!

  • Start taking prenatal vitamins with 800 mcg Folic Acid every day, BEFORE you get pregnant (try to aim for 3 months before, at least). I cannot stress this enough. The sooner you start, the better. Your husband should also be taking a vitamin with 800 mcg Folic Acid. Folic acid has been linked to helping prevent genetic disorders. Since you each contribute half of the genes for your child, the extra chromosome for autism can come either of you. Sperm takes over two months to produce, so have your husband start taking a vitamin asap. It is important that you both do this. I suggest these vitamins, as they are super easy on the stomach and don't have extra, unneeded chemicals in them: Men's Vitamin. Women's Prenatal Vitamin Source: Cell & Molecular Biology major with genetics research background

  • Don't worry about the money situation too much. Yes, it will be hard. Yes, you will have to work harder than you ever have had to. Yes, you CAN MAKE IT WORK. You will find a way to make it work. Get in the habit of tracking where your money is being spent. Can you cut down on eating out? Do you really need that movie on blue-ray? Rather than buying a $7 gallon of ice cream, buy a bunch of bananas for $3. Your body and your wallet will thank you.

  • When you do become pregnant, apply for WIC. You may qualify and there is no shame in asking for a little bit of extra help. It will help you eat healthier and allow you to put that saved money towards things for your little one.

  • Locate a second hand children's clothing store in your area. Not everything will be cheaper than buying new, but many secondhand stores will have infant socks for 25 cents a pair, onsies for $1, and even second hand maternity clothes. You will save a LOT of money buying maternity clothes second hand. I was able to get 3 pairs of Motherhood Maternity jeans for $35 at my local secondhand store (and saved over $70 in the process). Why pay full price on clothes you will only wear for 6 months?

  • Consider the cost of childcare. Bottom line, daycare is expensive. I know you stated that you both have to work in order to pay the bills. Find out what the cost of child care is in your area. It may come out to be that the cost of child care is almost the same as one of your salaries, depending on how much you make. If this is the case, consider having the parent who makes less (whether it's you or your husband) be a stay-at-home parent and only work part time. Why pay someone almost your entire salary to raise your child for you? (My husband will be a stay-at-home dad. He's so excited he can hardly stand it.) If a relative is going to watch your child, make sure that you are willing to give them money for food and such.

  • Be weary of accepting second hand car seats. UV rays from sunlight degrade plastics (Source: I asked a polymer chemist professor) and the safety standards for car seats get better every year. If it is over 5 years old, don't take it. Yes, that new car seat will be between $100-$300. Your child's safety is worth it.

    Edit: Period between hyperlinks.
u/Mange-Tout · 7 pointsr/Cooking

Cooking for twelve. The menu is roast goose with orange sauce, pureed spiced parsnips, broccoli sautéed with miniature sweet peppers and onions, baby green salad with palm hearts and a balsamic vinaigrette. There will be ginger cookies for dessert, followed by a special Christmas surprise of various sour fruits and these miracle fruit tablets.

If you've never had miracle fruit, you should try it. The results are truly crazy and fun.

If you're just feeling "meh," push through - you'll be glad you did. If you're feeling actively bad (dizzy, nauseous) try an electrolyte supplement (I love these). If you've taken electrolytes but you still feel actively bad, stop your fast and eat something. :)

Good luck!

I second that Sugar Bear Hair is garbage. All you get is extra sugar in your diet. I noticed my nails were nicer, but that's it.

Just get a bottle each of B-7 and B-3 vitamins and take those regularly. Those are what strengthen hair and nails, but without the big price tag and extra sugar.

Meal frequency does not matter. If he wants to eat one or two meals a day, that is okay. What matters is that he is getting enough nutrients(vitamins, minerals, protein, calories) When the body does not get enough food, it slows down the metabolism. Go to the doctor ask for blood work for testosterone/thyroid/Vitamin D. At his age, either could be suboptimal for his health. Getting a sluggish thyroid optimized will make a huge difference in energy levels, same as testosterone. Optimally, you would want his testosterone over 700 ng/dl and his TSH(thyroid stimulating hormone) under <3. If you get his blood work and let me see it, i will tell you what i think. He needs to incorporate more animal protein into his diet. Amino acids found in food are essential for every single process in your body. Neurotransimitters like dopamine and serotonin(happy hormones) need amino acids to function properly. People underestimate the importance of dietary protein.

These are the two multivitamins i recommend because they contain the best, most bioavailable forms of vitamins and minerals. They are not expensive and are of really good quality. It is possible that your husband's multivitamin switched it's formulation to an inferior product. You can try these, but get that blood work done. It is very important, low testosterone and hypothyroidism will deteriorate his health as he ages. :

I suggest Rainbow Light - they're once a day, I dont get nauseous from them - just the smell makes me nauseous but thats with all pills for me right now. Theyre food-based so you wont get that nauseous feeling from taking them.

I debated leaving them because Im slowly beginning to get nauseous from everything i put in my mouth but I did research on gummies and they lack iron and its vital to our growing babies. So I am sticking with these. :)

It is pretty common for people to transition. Personally I started out committing to "meatless Mondays", which after a month or two turned into only eating meat when going out, which then turned into fully vegetarian and later vegan.

I found having this transition period was really helpful to me because it allowed me time to learn new foods that I genuinely liked and combine them in healthy ways. It didn't feel like I was making much of a sacrifice, and I actually looked forward to trying new recipes and figuring out ways to tweak and improve upon the ones that I liked. I think this is important for a lot of people, because some folks get burned out eating a bunch of bad foods that they don't enjoy and don't leave them feeling good.

As far as nutrition, you'll want to make sure you are eating plenty of whole grains, beans/legumes, nuts and seeds to get protein, healthy fats, fiber and micronutrients like iron. And lots of fruits and vegetables! Dr. Greger's daily dozen is a great rule of thumb to go by.

The only nutrient that you get from animal products that you can't get from plants is vitamin B12. Personally I take these twice a week. Some people also find it difficult to get enough iron. You might want to track your nutrition with a service like Cronometer or an app like MyFitnessPal.

A few random pieces of general advice:

  • You will probably have to fart a lot at first and might get some stomach cramps from your increased fiber intake (especially if you start eating a lot more beans, lentils etc -- which you should). This is normal and will subside over time as your gut bacteria adapt to a more plant-based diet. Most people in Western societies eat fiber deficient diets so this is a good thing once your body adapts!

  • You will probably have your diet questioned by friends, family, colleagues/peers, and even random people, and probably many times. You don't have to discuss or justify your reasons if you don't want to. You can just say something as simple as "I feel better this way".

  • As far as meat substitute products go: Gardein brand has the best chik'n nuggets (I like most of their products tbh), Field Roast has the best hot dogs, Tofurky sandwich slices and sausages are pretty good too. Most brands of veggie protein crumbles (like ground beef) are interchangeable for recipes like chili or spaghetti sauce so I buy whatever is cheapest. If you have a Trader Joe's, their soyrizo is incredible for tacos, burritos, and dips.

158 is quite low for your frame so I'm not surprised that you have a natural propensity to under-eat. To have enough body fat to obscure at least an unflexed 2 pack at 158 after 6 months of working out is absurd and suggests that you're doing something wrong.

There are some supplements that can help but I think the primary problem is likely lurking in your diet, man. The secondary problem is likely your training regimen, as the words "different machines which train every muscle group" send up a big ass red flag.

The calorie deficit you're working under is too steep. 1700 is somewhere around 400 calories short of your daily maintenance need. That means you're not eating enough to fulfill your daily energy needs while idling. By the time your day is over, you're likely using over 3,000 calories.

So, the cool thing about cars is that if they run out of fuel, they have the common decency to shut down. Your body, should you not feed it, will either convert its fat stores to energy or sometimes, it will prefer to hang on to the fat and break down muscle for what it needs instead. The annoying thing is that you won't be able to tell which it's doing until you post to Reddit 6 months later.

When you create too steep an energy (calorie) demand over an extended period of time, your body will slow its metabolism (the rate it burns calories) to accommodate. It's essentially preparing you for a famine because you're not eating enough and it thinks shit's about to go down. It doesn't give a single fuck about your appearance: your body's primary concern is survival. The next step is to prefer to maintain its fat stores instead of converting them to energy. Instead, it breaks down muscle tissue, which is the opposite of what you want.

Because you've probably been under-eating your entire life, I'll assume you don't eat big meals, and I'm going to guess that those 1700 calories are being spread out across several (5-6) meals. With a carbohydrate intake of over 200g a day, spreading them out over several meals, you've probably got elevated blood sugar all day. That means that you'll have insulin roaming about in your body all day that will also tell your fat stores to stay put.

When you put all of that together, you've got a recipe for a skinny-fat dude.

Definition comes from the relationship between your muscle and skin. When your skin stretches tightly against your body, it will dip into the crevices in your muscle tissue. Body fat is the layer between the muscle and skin so the less body fat there is, the more defined you become, just as long as you've still got muscle there. That's all definition is. The reason your stomach looks like a rolling meadow is because you're essentially talking your body into keeping its fat stores, while breaking down your muscle.

I started taking this stuff a few months back to stop my hair from falling out (it seems to be working, used to have to clean out the shower drain frequently because of all the hair now there is none in there or on the towel when I dry off :D ) and it makes my nails grow like crazy. Have to cut 'em twice a week now when I maybe cut them once to twice a month before.

I take the Rainbow Light ones another poster mentioned. Like they said, they aren’t small but it’s only one per day, and I personally don’t find them disgusting. I take them before bed and have had no issues. No DHA though so I take a separate thing for that.

be CAREFUL about taking any magnesium oxide, its the cheapest form of magnesium and the least absorbable - meaning it's basically a laxative and will give you liquid diarrhea REALLY easy

you really want the stuff that ends with -ATE , doesnt have the side effects

as far as multivitamin, you may want to switch to something with join suporrt like this stuff which is praised highly in the body building community. I take half the daily dose since i'm not an athlete.

on the same note i've heard nothing but good things about Cissus for join pain.

Another thing people say helps is circumin/tumeric, available in caps but you can just get a bunch of the indian spice at a grocery story if they have it

Congrats on the incoming munchkin!

Now, I don't have any first hand experience myself, but I've researched this issue for family members before.

The prenatal vitamin you'll probably want is this: http://www.amazon.com/Rainbow-Light-Prenatal-Multivitamin-150-Count/dp/B00115BJ30

It's food-based so it should sit well with your tummy, and it's totally vegan. Best to take it during meals. Personally I'd recommend splitting each tablet in half, take one of the halves(The larger one if you cut unevenly) at breakfast, and the other half at dinnertime. Otherwise probably just in the morning.

You definitely want to avoid Fish Oil, the mercury content does more damage than the Omega 3's can do good. I recommend this instead: http://www.amazon.com/Ovega-3-Vegetarian-Softgels-500-Count/dp/B004LL7AXE/

Direct source of DHA sourced from golden algae(Which is where a lot of fish get it from in the first place!), grown in algae factories so there should be no fear of mercury contamination. Since you're pregnant I'd probably say take one at breakfast time, and another at dinner time, as their content isn't quite as high as Fish Oil pills.

Finally, definitely want to make sure you're getting enough B12, so I wouldn't rely on the multivitamin for that. I'd say get this: http://www.amazon.com/Aerobic-Life-AdvantageTM-Methylcobalamin-500mcg/dp/B0014JOBXS

Take a spray once per day in the morning with breakfast(You can even spray it into your drink/food). Little bit overkill, but with B12 that's not a problem, and since you're nomming for two, it can only help!

Good luck parenting! :D

u/letsgetknockedup · 3 pointsr/TryingForABaby

It might sound crazy... but have you exfoliated your scalp? I mean, it doesn't have to be super expensive or anything. Just get some plain ol' sugar, mix with a little olive oil to make a paste (it won't make your scalp greasy, I swear!), and scrub away! Then rinse, and shampoo like usual. I do this about once a month just to get rid of any skin buildup. Cheap & easy!

You might also try to use hair products that don't have sulfites or parabens in them, by the way... those things are nasty to begin with, and people frequently develop allergies/intolerances to both. So like, avoid anything with sodium laurel sulfate or ammonium laureth sulfate, stuff like that. I've had to do this because I deal with eczema, but it's supposedly better for your hair & stuff. I just don't want my head to break out haha!

That said... have you switched prenatals? If you can order from Amazon, these are the best pills around: http://www.amazon.com/Rainbow-Light-Prenatal-Multivitamin-tablets/dp/B00115BJ30

They are crazy expensive, but they don't have any of the typical allergens that most pills have, like lactose or wheat byproducts or any of that other crap. I have a massively sensitive stomach and those are pretty much the only pills that don't wreak havoc in one way or another.

u/catchatorie · 3 pointsr/TryingForABaby

From what I've heard, nausea from prenatal vitamins is really common. I don't know if it's just that most women taking them are in the first trimester of pregnancy and naturally nauseous, or if there's something in prenatals that can upset stomachs more than other vitamins. FWIW, I have a really sensitive stomach (and get nauseous as part of my normal PMS symptoms) and I've had no problems taking Prenatal One vitamins.

Your temps look totally normal. It's very expected to have variations of 0.1-0.3 or more from day-to-day. Definitely no need to "preheat" the thermometer. The important thing is that you're able to pick out the pattern of a temp spike after ovulation. You want to see a rise of 0.2 or more above the previous 3 temps, that lasts for at least 3-5 days (really, it should last until AF shows up, 10 or more days).

There are some possible complications from a D&C, but it's more related to the ability for an embryo to implant, not for carrying to term. However, lots and lots of women have D&Cs, it's not considered a high-risk procedure. I'd say there's no need to worry until you've been TTC with no luck for at least 6 months, and your doctor would really be the right person to ask about that.

Finally, your sex drive issues could be psychological or hormonal. It could be related to PCOS causing hormonal issues, or even the paraguard removal. Again, I would worry too much until it's persisted for a much longer period of time. :)

Good luck, and welcome to TFAB!

I had a huge hair loss problem and it brought me a lot of anxiety and stress because as a 23-24 year old female who used to have really thick, healthy hair it was disheartening. My hair is thankfully back to normal but it took a while to get it back to peak health. I actually got a haircut this weekend and the hairstylist commented on how healthy and full my hair is. When I told her that I worried about my hair thinning out and hair loss she said that what the last thing I should worry about. But little did she know what had been happening the last two years (I had never gone to that salon before). I also want to add that I’ve been dealing with a flakey scalp for a while now. I would make it worse by picking at it and sometimes causing scabs. The flakey scalp caused problems for my hair because you can’t have good hair without a healthy scalp. In fact, many time hair loss is due to dandruff since it weakens the hair follicles. I recently found a few products that have made a big difference.

This is what worked for me:

  1. I brush my hair with a bamboo wide comb (I think it’s this one , I got it from Whole Foods) before I shower and don’t brush or run my fingers through my hair at all in the shower. I believe wet hair is weaker so it’s best to not comb/brush in the shower.

  2. I take biotin pills everyday. I’m sure any brand works so just look at reviews.

  3. I take Ashwagandha . I linked the one I take. I’ve been taking it for over a year now, two pills twice a day as directed. I think this and biotin made a huge difference in my hair health.

  4. I wash my hair almost daily. I just alternate between using reg shampoo/conditioner and an apple cider vinegar rinse (I use the one by dpHUE ). The ACV has made a huge difference in my scalp. I can’t say enough good things about it. I also have the scrub, which is why linked the bundle that has the two of them for cheaper, which I liked but it was a bit messy to use. If you have build up on your scalp like your dermatologist said, the scrub will help. The rinse is amazing and I also use the leave in conditioner from the same line. It’s a spray leave in conditioner which I like because I don’t like touching my hair too much when it’s wet and weak. My boyfriend also had a flakey scalp and he started using the DpHUE rinse as well and he says it made a huge difference for him: his hair isn’t as flakey or itchy.

  5. I use a cotton towel to dry my hair and I love it. This is the one I have , I have two just in case one is in the wash. I like it a lot. I put my hair in it as soon as I get out of the shower and set a 10-15 minute timer, then I take it off and spray leave in conditioner. Not touching your hair too much is best because then you aren’t tugging at your scalp or accidental pulling your hair off.

  6. There is such a thing as doing too much. I would recommend maybe sticking to basics and using a minimalistic hair routine with gentle ingredients.

  7. I’m not too sure how well they work because I haven’t used them myself but I recently saw two different hair density serums that are very well reviewed. One is by a brand called Grow Gorgeous and the other is by The Ordinary. Maybe try one of these and see how they help? Definitely don’t do both and don’t overpower your scalp with a lot of products, a healthy scalp leads to healthy hair. I’m planning on getting the one from The Ordinary this weekend. A lot of the reviews on Sephora said that it made a huge difference with their scalp health and that it got rid of their dandruff so read the reviews and see if this is something you think would help you too.

  8. I just bought a shower water filter for hard water, gets here Saturday! I can’t believe I didn’t know about this sooner. We have super hard water and I’m pretty sure it’s what’s been causing havoc on my scalp. If you look up “hard water and scalp problems” or “hard water and hair loss” a lot of information comes up.

  9. I get my hair trimmed every other month.

    Hope this helps!

u/elilili · 3 pointsr/curlyhair

Well...I don't really know. My hair just does that on its own most of the time. I have to put an effort in to get it to stop doing that.

>Herbal Essences Totally Twisted gel

Use products for curly hair. Herbal Essences, Dove and other mainstream beauty products that market to "curly" hair are actually made for very wavy or loosely coiled hair.

Your hair loss may be from using horrible products on your hair. I know if you're using Herbal Essences, you are probably also sleeping with a cotton pillowcase, so that could be a reason also.

After you wash it, you should put in a leave in conditioner, followed by an oil and then a gel or a cream.

This my favorite detangler/conditoner if you need a product recommendation. To grow you hair back you could try a shampoo and conditioner with argan oil or black castor oil. Mane and Tail also makes a hair growth line.

Alopecia Free With Jass is a youtube channel that also might help you deal with alopecia. You could also try taking biotin.

u/narcilil · 3 pointsr/RedditLaqueristas

Try biotin. I'm not vouching for that brand, it was just this first one I clicked on. I just buy the cheapest one at the store. There's usually a generic.

From a pill supplement form, there are really only a few "vitamins" that I would suggest. This is a quick list:

  • ZMA (Optimum Nutrition) - Taken before bed on empty stomach for sleep and recovery
  • Fish / Krill Oil (Viva Fish Oil)

Rainbow Lites are Vegan. They're giant horse pills so it helps to break them apart. I took these for a year and a half while we were TTC and for the first six months of my pregnancy. They're okay. Were a bit hard on my stomach, but I switched over to some Gummy One a Day (not vegan) vitamins for the last three months because I started gagging really bad on the horse pills (I think by then I was just so fucking tired of choking them down every day my body was like NOPE. NOT TODAY) and they were no better on my stomach.

u/eugenia_loli · 2 pointsr/Paleo

Personally I dont do multi-vitamins, because I prefer to optimize only for the vitamins I need, without risking depleting other vitamins because I get too much of an antagonist vitamin (e.g. if you take too much A, it depletes D3, or if you get too much copper, it depletes zinc, and the other way around). It's best to know what you need based on what you eat, how you feel, and what your blood tests show, and then go from there.

Now, if you insist on multivitamins, I'd say go for the ones that don't have yeast or gluten or anything like that. I think this one is one of the best I've seen around http://www.amazon.com/Rainbow-Light-Prenatal-Multivitamin-150-Count/dp/B00115BJ30/ref=pd_sim_hpc_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=04J9YW4Z94ZB1ZXQMHMH (yes, it's for prenatal women, but that blend is better than the standard daily ones for men/women). Unfortunately, its Magnesium content (which most Westerners are deficient of), is a joke.

So you'll still need K2-Mk4 (which is different from K) and Magnesium separately, and you'd also need some CoQ10 Ubiquinol and PQQ too if you don't eat animal heart on a regular basis. These aren't weird things I suggest. Along D3, they're the "standard" vitamins that the Paleo gurus suggest in their various blog posts. The more "normal" vitamins you find on a multi-vitamin you can get from actual food -- especially Paleo food which is loaded with these.

u/hftfab · 2 pointsr/TryingForABaby

I take some random vegan brand, but I haven't got the bottle with me. Essential One or something like that?

I'm lactose intolerant, and almost everything that has iron supplements contain lactose - it has something to do with absorbing iron properly? Not sure, but it was a serious pain in the ass to find a prenatal w/o lactose in it haha!

I found them at Fred Meyer, if you have those in your area. Edit - nevermind, the powers of Amazon prevail! http://www.amazon.com/Rainbow-Light-Prenatal-Multivitamin-tablets/dp/B00115BJ30/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1375396083&sr=8-1

u/No-More-Stars · 2 pointsr/gainit

I appreciate the honesty, and likewise: I'm not trying to criticise your decisions.

Whatever you do, you need more calories, which will cost more money.

Mass gainers are an easy way out, therefore it's going to be a more expensive option, there's no way around that and you may need to seek alternatives.

If you take this route, you'll need to reframe your attitude to "how much money am I willing to spend to gain mass", rather than "how much effort am I willing to expend to gain mass".

----

That being said, you can likely significantly increase the efficiency of the powder by picking something better, or buying in bulk. A quick example

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0015R36SK is £0.69/100g = £0.69/375kcal

So for 800kcal/day, you'd spend roughly £1.50/day, or £45/month. Compare this to the cost of eating regular food, and see if it's viable.

u/InhumanWhaleShark · 2 pointsr/gainit

Lift weights and eat 1.5 scoops of this, twice a day. You'll gain weight. This powder is the only way I was able to bulk.

I mentioned in another comment how I used to cut too much weight and became too skinny. While I'm sure you naturally have a much skinnier frame than I do, something that really helped me were 'mass gainer' shakes. It's pretty much a protein shake with a lot of extra calories. I recommend this one. Also if you do not already weight train, I would recommend looking into that as well.

6 years later, Now i'm drinking this from amazon every other day and buying those frozen dinners from the store which have the protein and caloric requirements to gain weight, without making me feel like i'm throwing up or overloading my internal food processing system. I wish there were frozen meals dedicated to gaining weight instead of losing weight... there's a good idea for you there lol.

My workout regiment consists of doing all the push ups i can do when i wake up, going for a run few or more times a week. and i have a 25lb dumbbell at home that i do stuff with randomly in the day in sets.

The most important out of all is the nutrition, watching what you eat is key. I don't care about being 'cut', as long as i can get to 150lb in my height, and being able to run a marathon, i'm healthy and set.

Good luck in gaining bro, be sure to post an update!!

This might seem like a stretch, but what has helped me deal a bit more over the passed few days is...vitamin D3. I'm not a doctor nor do I play one on TV, but you might want to consider this small thing you can do to possibly make life a little more tolerable. Of course everyone is different and this may not work for you but being in the same situation, I was going to try anything.

I'm going to say it... I could've written most of your post, except I am female. I was also in this position and started scouring the internet for anything I could do to get out of that hell. I started talking to people too.

Most of the answers I got made me so fucking mad. Mostly because people will just blindly say, "Why don't you go on medication, just to get you over the hump?" As a person who has tailored their diet so that food is medicine for my body that is in chronic pain 24/7, adding more chemicals/toxins to the mix didn't seem to make sense to me. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure pharms help people, they've just never helped me. I've tried many, many different ones and they've only made things worse.

This is what helped me. I started taking this brand https://www.amazon.com/NOW-Foods-Vitamin-5000-120-Softgels/dp/B002EA99HE
2 in the morning (10,000IU a day). After the third day, I didn't wake up with the nauseousness I feel toward life. I get this because I hate my life and myself so much, I get nauseous anytime I am awake, thinking about almost all the things you had written in your post.

I know it may seem like a simple vitamin such as D3 wouldn't even touch this hell we live in, but it has for me. It is easy to overdose on vitamin D from what I've read, but D3 is another story. Here's an article on what the difference is between the two, how it helps your body as a whole and also the dosage to get your levels up. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2012/02/23/oral-vitamin-d-mistake.aspx

On my third day of taking this, I was able to fucking laugh!!! I couldn't believe it. That hasn't happened in about a couple of years, genuinely. I woke up, not dreading what the world was going to be like and was able to function with more of a clear mind. Not that it made all worries and despair disappear, but I was able to even go out to a grocery store and not feel so debilitated at the mere thought of being hearded into lines at a store we HAD to go to in order to survive, buying food and feeling like a sheeple. I also have been able to be more active which causes me to be more tired at night, allowing for easier sleep. I usually get 2 hours a night. Passed couple of days, it's been 4-5 hours. It's only been a few days so I hope this is a growing trend. I have been dealing with insomnia on and off in my life, but my most recent stent is 5 years and counting.

I know this isn't much, but it may prove to be helpful for you and is not too expensive. You know, "Just to get you over that hump."

Take it easy man, message me if you need to vent more. I really hope this can be of some help to you.

Hmmmm... Got some minutes today, so let's type out some questions!

  • I'm slowly developing a suspicion that I am mildly lactose intolerant (despite not being genetically predisposed to it in the slightest, pretty much every member of my family consumes a broad range of dairy products, sometimes in excess, without any adverse effects), or at the very least, my small intestine is not producing sufficient lactase. Either way, I'd like to supplement it in small doses when I do consume excess dairy. In my mild case, to avoid the discomfort, what dosage would you recommend and how long before/after intake should I supplement?

  • The 2nd question is related to vitamin D supplementation, now that winter is looming and my hours in the sunlight are limited even further. I'm currently taking 4-6 Life Force® Multiple (I know, should've got the men's one with no iron), as well as 1-2 Cod Liver pills daily (2500 IU vitamin A, 200 IU vitamin D). I've read many anecdotal reports of increased energy and elevation of mood with vitamin D supplementation and I think I could benefit from it with my daily work/school stresses. What dosage would you recommend and is this a decent deal on some D3?

  • Lastly, given the above Life Force multi, could I benefit from Zinc micro addition? My diet is clean and fairly varied, but of the common natural sources of zinc, I really only consume products from the lower half of this table along with beef. In searching for zinc supplements I've found several types (gluconate, picolinate, glycinate) and it would be nice if we had a brief description of the distinction between the types, as well as, which would be more beneficial than others.

    Thanks

I don't use these but they look to be what you're wanting. I looked at reviews and didn't see any complaints about taste and there's not more than 100% of any vitamin so you shouldn't get the fluorescent pee.

A nice ass joint roller and ash tray.

I don't know if you're only asking for weed related things, but this 15 dollar led strip has kinda changed my life lol. It's adhesive and super vibrant, turns your whole room and every thing in it different colors. Great decoration piece as well as party piece. Just peel and stick on the wall right below where it meets the ceiling.

If you're trying to blow a little more cash you can get a laser projector. I have a really nice one and it's one of my favorite things that I own. Super beautiful & trippy. You can spend between 20 and hundreds of bucks on one. I wouldn't advise going much cheaper than the one I linked, because getting a multi pattern one is pretty crucial.

Another amazing thing is Miracle Berry Tablets. It is legitimately called flavor tripping. Makes sour things taste sweet. Makes sweet things taste amazing. Beer is good too. The best things to try are fruits by far. Be sure to have some different berries and such, fruit juice, and definitely some lemons and limes.

I don't care that the contest has ended, because I just wanted to share these awesome things with you! I mean, they're fun, they're sorta trippy, ANNND they make not-so-great healthy things taste good!

Try Ashwagandha from Organic India
http://www.amazon.com/Organic-India-Ashwagandha-Veg-Capsules-Count/dp/B003PGE98K/

Not sure about other brands, but this one worked for me.

Ever since I have started taking Ashwagandha (1 pill in morning and night), my sleep has improved a lot. I had a bad insomnia experience in the past. But now, no more grogginess in the morning, no anxiety, feels calm and relaxed.

You can also try adding one or two teaspoon turmeric powder to one cup warm milk and drink it before sleep. You can also add some sugar for taste.

My wife takes migraine stuff and didn't have issues. I haven't heard much of anyone else having bad reactions, but I'm sure asking your doctor or searching if someone had reactions with your specific meds

Oh I thought these were a great idea too, because I don't care for flavored water. But they were really expensive and I didn't feel like they had enough sodium, so I bought gel v-caps and made my own with Morton's Lite Salt. I don't have cramps in my legs at night anymore like I did when I was trying to drink flavored salt water. I've been meaning to take some pictures and make a post but I'm so lazy. 2% is NOT high thc....it’s extremely low! I’d also recommend to use a heavy indica strain given what you’ve reported since you’re looking for more calming effects vs. high energy. Your specific condition could be the cause of how you’re not feeling any effects, so it’s probably best to significantly bump up your intake.

Buy distillate syringes ($65 at Surterra) and just make infused coconut oil. Distillate is up to 90% thc and will go a long way....Plus you can truly control your dosages by concentrating them as much as you’d like.

All you have to do is heat up unrefined coconut oil in a Pyrex container, put the distillate into the hot oil and start stirring for a few minutes. Once it emulsifies it’s ready to use. The distillate is very thick, so put the syringe into hot water for a minute So that it becomes less viscous and then remove the cap to dispense it.

Example - let’s say there’s 850mg of thc in one distillate syringe and you use 50ml of coconut oil.

850/50 = 17mg of thc per ml of oil. You aren’t just limited to using one distillate syringe - feel free to use more to make your infused oil more potent.

Buy a blunt tip luer lock syringe with ml measurements and then simply put it into your own empty capsules. You can buy the syringe and the capsules on amazon for very cheap. You can also use these blunt tip syringes to measure your coconut oil to ensure he dosages will be right. Links to the items you need below

https://www.amazon.com/Pack-Refilling-Liquids-cigs-juice/dp/B01CFJ51X4/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?keywords=blunt+tip+syringe&qid=1554677628&s=gateway&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1

You can also dispense the distillate straight into your own cartridges and vape it, but be sure to use only a ceramic cartridge. Do not include any coconut oil into your vape...just distillate

Yes. Vegans make up only 0.5% of the population, but I've seen estimates that around 6% of the general population under age 60 is deficient and 20-40% have borderline levels of B12. Low levels can be found even in people who eat a typical amount of animal products, because there are many factors that can cause poor absorption. As we age the risk is even higher, and it's recommended that everyone over the age of 60 take supplements (1, 2).

But vegetarians and vegans do have higher rates of deficiency because our intake tends to be lower. B12 is not found in high levels in plant foods. All B12 is produced by bacteria, and this bacteria is found in high amounts in animal products. Fortunately, we have the capability to cultivate this bacteria and harvest B12 directly rather than using an animal to grow it.

The recommendation of the Vegan Society along with many other health professionals is that vegans do one of the following:

  1. Eat fortified foods two or three times a day to get at least three micrograms (mcg or µg) of B12 a day or
  2. Take one B12 supplement daily providing at least 10 micrograms or
  3. Take a weekly B12 supplement providing at least 2000 micrograms.

If you're willing to eat fortified foods frequently and consistently, that could be an adequate solution. But personally, I prefer to cook and eat whole foods, and don't eat enough fortified foods to count on them as a source. Supplementation is cheap (12 cents a dose) and easy , and any extra is just excreted when you pee. Supplements and fortified foods containing the forms cyanocobalamin, hydroxycobalamin and methylcobalamin have all been proven effective in increasing B12 levels.

When the risks of B12 deficiency include "loss of energy, tingling, numbness, reduced sensitivity to pain or pressure, blurred vision, abnormal gait, sore tongue, poor memory, confusion, hallucinations and personality changes," I say better safe than sorry.
u/Stinky_McDoodooface · 2 pointsr/vegan

Oral supplements are absorbed just fine https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3922551/.

I just had bloodwork after 2 years being vegan, and my b12 was slightly over the top-end of the range. I just take an oral pill probably every 3-4 days or once a week sometimes, basically just whenever I remember to take it. I also drink some plant milks that are fortified with it. I also take blood builder every once in a while as a pre-workout, and it has a little bit of b12.

But a simple cobalamin or methylcobalamin supplement should be all you need. I take deva b12 (methyl) and sometimes natures way (cobalamin)

u/team_pancakes · 2 pointsr/vegan

Yeah it's cyanocobalamin. Anything over 250mcg/day should be fine. Another form is methylcobalamin that works better for some people. This is the one I use. I just had my levels tested and they were above range. https://www.amazon.com/Deva-Nutrition-Sublingual-Dissolve-Tablets/dp/B00EW1BVIS/

I use Biotin to grow my hair length and it works great and also does make my hair seem fuller. I think it's worth it. Let me find a link to the kind I use that I like better than the stuff at the grocery store.

Here. A little more expensive but I like them.

I hope it helps you and I sure hope this isn't a symptom of a bigger problem. Good luck.

u/AlexTakeTwo · 2 pointsr/RedditLaqueristas

I take the Sports Research Biotin which is suspended in coconut oil and on the lower side of available doses. From what I read before I decided to try it, most of the "prescribed" doses are way higher than what people actually need and is just a marketing gimmick to seem "better" than other brands (a very few special cases excepted.) I think it took about 6 weeks to notice before I started getting stronger nails and fewer splits, and now as long as I keep them moisturized I almost never split or break a nail, I used to average about 1 per week. For nail moisturizer, I use a coconut oil cream that I made myself (aimed for chapstick, put in too much beeswax, so it makes a great nail cream instead LOL) or a cocoa butter bar with a bit of coconut oil in it. I've heard good things about jojoba oil but my skin reacts to it a little bit, so I don't use it.

u/mymathlabsucks1234 · 2 pointsr/tressless

10,000 micrograms, or 10 mg. It's a water soluble B vitamin. A lot of multivitamins include it, but I don't take a multi.

You can't take too much, but it can give you rosy cheeks and sometimes acne at 10,000 mcg. I don't get that tho. Amazon link it's hella cheap.

u/cmcg1227 · 2 pointsr/wls

I take these (bypass 18 months ago):

  1. One a Day's Womens - I'm a woman so if you're a guy you should probably get the men's version
  2. Bariatric Advantage Dry Vitamin D
  3. Nature's Way B-50 Complex
  4. Natrol Maximum Strength Biotin
  5. Kirkland's Calcium Citrate

Then, I'm not currently on either of these, but for a while I was taking:

  6. NOW Vitamins B-1 Thiamine
  7. Country Life Dry Vitamin A

When taking all of these vitamins daily as recommended my numbers have all come back fine. Personally, I HATE the B- Complex because it smells funny, and I've tried a few brands and discovered that its just the way the B-50 complex smells and I just deal. Have one of those lame pill/vitamin containers that you can fill for a whole month, and I keep the B-50 in a separate container because otherwise ALL of the vitamins smell and its a more horrible process.

Stop taking both and when you return to baseline, add in one for a bit and see if the symptoms persist. Then you will have your answer as to what is causing the "rage".

To finally answer your question, nope. Noopept does not make me rage. I do enjoy a little rage from time to time though. Something is obviously not in balance.

Yep! Rainbow Light is OTC and you can get it on amazon. To be safe, I ran it by my DR and she said it was great. http://www.amazon.com/Rainbow-Light-Prenatal-Multivitamin-Tablets/dp/B000EE8036

I started yoga around 8 weeks (I previously loved and went to regular/heated classes... sadly you can't go to heated during pregnancy) and have gone at least once but sometimes up to three times a week since then. I've tried about 4 prenatal studios, but found 2 that I loved and stuck with them.

Thanks :)

u/aye_dub_ · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

I know my OBGYN office won't see anyone until at least 8 weeks. I was seen at 9w4d. That's partly because there's such a high risk of miscarriage and partly because it's usually around 10 weeks when they can find the heartbeat (even though it starts beating around 6 weeks).

For a prenatal, I've been taking this one: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000EE8036/ref=sr_ph?ie=UTF8&qid=1449868666&sr=1&keywords=rainbow+light

It's a real horse pill, so if you have trouble with large pills it's not the one for you. It gets high reviews and good lab test results. I feel like it actually helped a small amount with my morning sickness. I suggest taking it at bed time.

I've also been using an app called Ovia Pregnancy. You'll find it's pretty popular with the bumpers on this sub. It has a food guide when you swipe left, symptom checker, and you get little facts about your baby everyday.

For nausea/vomiting, vitamin b6(25-50mg) taken with unisom sleep tabs is what got me through the worst of it (I took half a sleep tab). I started with just at night, then during the day if I'm starting to get bad, I take about 1/4 of a unisom tab and can still work/do school/etc. It's prescribed form is called Diclegis and is category A which means it's been proven to be safe for use in pregnant women. Unisom is listed as category B which means nothing has happened to suggest that it is not safe during pregnancy. However, if it does not work for you and you find yourself not being able to keep anything down, call your OB even if you haven't been seen.

Food restrictions [short list version] - no sushi (raw - cooked is okay but cannot have touched the same surfaces as the raw), no lunch meat (think like subway style) unless it has been heated/toasted, no red meat, no soft cheeses (like bleu), nothing unpasteurized.

Also, see the Wiki/FAQ on the sidebar. It has tons of helpful info!

I've been taking Rainbow Light Embrace Prenatal 35+ this pregnancy. I take the age-specific version, but they sell regular one-a-day prenatals and even a mini pill version.

Pros: it's been easy on my stomach even without food, it's vegetarian and food-based, and it has loads of 'extras' in it like digestive probiotics.

Cons: have to take 3 a day (for the 35+ version) and it's not the cheapest prenatal you can buy.

In my first pregnancy I took a prescription chewable prenatal that I couldn't take without food because it made me nauseous.

u/cheryllovestoread · 1 pointr/Fantasy

I knew it! I know exactly what you mean by 'feeling weird and kinda fuzzy'. This is an interesting article from 2007. As I'm in my mid-50s, there was no heavy menstrual flow to point to as the reason. My dr. did all kinds of tests to rule out internal bleeding and found none. My B-12 levels and other blood tests were fine. She finally just told me I must be one of those people who live on the anemic edge and that I was the only person in her practice who she would recommend increasing consumption of beef to. The heme iron in beef is different from non-heme plant-based iron, and I guess I just absorb it better.

Not many people, or doctors, recognize the symptoms of anemia and it can be so debilitating and life-threatening! I just had my annual physical and my iron level is sitting nicely now at about 1 point above the anemic line. And I'm feeling so much better.

Keep trying on the supplements - the food-based ones for pregnant women are the best I think because they are designed to not aggravate morning sickness and general queasiness. I get mine in the extra large bottle from Amazon. They are a bit cheaper per pill that way versus my local Target. My doctor gave me the thumbs up on them. And, if you eat meat, you might try also adding a meal or two a week of lean, grass-fed beef.

u/rickearthc137 · 1 pointr/fasting

Congrats on starting your fast! I've only been sub'd a few weeks but there are accountability threads all over the palace. Feel free to start your own too. It's totally not frowned upon having an accountability partner.

One of the first things you'll likely want to do is figure out what your goal is and announce it. The flair on this sub is really good for that.

The main thing is make sure on your fast days that you drink enough water that your stomach's stretch receptors will signal you that your belly is full. You may not want to "eat normally" on your eating days--if you can do HFLC (High Fat Low Carb) your week will go a lot smoother--you can check out /r/keto for info on this. One recipe that comes to mind is the infamous "Fat Head Pizza". I haven't made it yet but it's supposed to be delicious and the dough is quite versatile so you can use it as a bread replacement for pretty much anything.

If you haven't already, check out the Jason Fung videos on YT. I've also (just this weekend) stumbled upon normal guy "Butter Bob" Biggs and have watched many of his YT videos on HFLC--I usually play his videos at 2x speed.

Since you're eating alternate days, you'll likely not need to worry about supplementing, but you may want to pick up some electrolyte pills or liquid electrolyte (Walmart) in case your muscles feel crampy. Other alternatives are Sea Salt or "Nu-Salt". You just eat a teaspoon of it.

If you're interested in the mental/spiritual side of things, you might like some of these:

Sagaara's Health Through Breathing - Pranayama. There's a free version with ads. This is a yogic breathing app, it's simple to use and highly addicting. It works by having you maintain interval breathing, e.g. Breathe in - Pause - Breathe Out - Pause to different counts. While doing it, keep your throat open (this is quite difficult). Following the sounds and clearing your mind you can do this while meditating or as meditation.

If you're worried about hitting your goal, I would recommend Mark Divine's The Way of the SEAL: Think Like an Elite Warrior to Lead and Succeed. This guy runs a consulting service/program for folks who want to go through elite military programs SEALS, DELTA, etc. While those programs have tremendously high washout rates, his graduates complete them in the 75+% rate or some similarly ridiculously high number.

If you want to make big life changes, I've heard good things about "Self Authoring". I've bought their package (it's cheap $30) and intend on doing it as part of this fast. It's structured journaling that's supposed to help you resolve whatever is behind you and figure out what you actually want moving forward. I haven't yet started it, but it seemed worth $30. It's from Prof. Jordan Peterson--he's super smart and I enjoy his YT channel so I figured I'd (eventually) give it a shot.

Feel free to ping me if you have any questions or just want to rant. Hope this helps and good luck!

The vast majority of research on Omega 3 cites 720mg of EPA and 480mg of DHA, and most Omega 3 supplements do not have enough of either. I suggest Trader Joe's Brand. The price isn't bad, and two of these a day will ensure you get enough.

As for multivitamin, I use Opti-Men but it really isn't that advantageous compared to a lot of others. I used to use Centrum Silver, and I will probably go back to that once I'm finished with Opti-Men. I hear good things about Orange Triad though.

u/resinh · 1 pointr/pcgaming

never heard of getting shoulder pain from mouse gaming, that shit is rare

you gotta fix your posture/chair/hand placement setup, could also be a vitamin deficiency

as far as how to fix - eat more bananas (if its potassium), get a magnesium supplement to relax the muscles, and try some good quality vitamins w/ joint support

u/mattressgiant · 1 pointr/keto

Depends on the multi. I also have this Doctors Best Mag supp but I rarely have to take it due to meeting my needs through diet + multi.

Opti-men/vit sucks to be honest. Horrible vitamin and mineral sources. Costy too for what they provide.

Better sourcing for the ingredients. Has joint complex. You can take 3 a day as the doses are quite large instead of 6. It would then last three months $9.50 per month.

Dude, you got to get out of whatever cycle you are in right now. You don't want this to turn into a full-week alcohol addiction. If you still use so much alcohol despite the consequences, then it's clear you can't do it alone. Get help, professional or not.

If you haven't already tried it, then I suggest getting some Ashwagandha from NOW Foods (2.5% withanolides) or Jarrow Formulas (KSM-66). I've had success with the NOW foods one, but I've heard the Jarrow Formulas one is better.

u/Sometimes_Lies · 1 pointr/Nootropics

> I imagined myself painstakingly measuring it into each capsule.

I kind of do something like that sometimes, though I just wrap it in thin paper and swallow it before the whole mess comes loose. It's...probably not the best solution, to be totally honest.

If you want to experiment on a budget, I'd strongly recommend theanine+caffeine as a base. It's very inexpensive and works pretty well, though caffeine tolerance is annoying. Also, while it's more for anxiety than energy, I really enjoy Ashwagandha.

Oddly, caffeine and Ashwagandha are two of the few things I'd recommend buying in pill form. Caffeine because it tastes awful and is so cheap (like $5 on Amazon for 100 pills), and Ashwagandha because I happen to rather like this specific brand which is both high quality and quite affordable.

Right now I'm trying to write a romance, actually. New for me, though I'm enjoying it more than I would've expected. I just need to get a firm grasp on the subgenre, because it seems to be slipping away from me a little bit.

edit: Also, one other recommendation: Melatonin. It's dirt cheap and getting a good night's sleep helps with energy the next day. Melatonin kind of has a bad rap because most bottles of it have like 3-10mg doses, which is too much. Even the bottle I linked is 1mg, so I'd recommend cutting them in half.

edit2: So many typoes. Sorry. I basically didn't sleep last night.

Now is a great brand, and pretty affordable. They have tight quality control, and 300-450 mg is a typical dose. Again, you probably won’t notice much of a difference for a bit. Less sensitivity to allergies, dodge a cold passing around, and may notice you handle stress a little more calmly.

As far as brands go, the main thing to do is check if they are 3rd party tested, because the FDA doesn’t regulate herbal products, the DHEA does, and they don’t hold manufacturers accountable for false products. So always check for 3rd party testing and certifications. The more the better. If the brand does any 3rd party testing they’ll make it known on their website or in the description section on Amazon. They pay a lot for those, and it’s all in hopes that consumers will choose their products over other products that are cheaper but riskier.

> I'm not sure that SSRIs and Rhodiola are a good mix. There's at least one case of an adverse reaction.

I did read that it is a MAO inhibitor and can cause headaches or even serotonin syndrome if taken with SSRIs. However it seems to be speculative. I cannot find strong evidence that there is an interaction. Examine.com and drugs.com list no interactions between the two.

> Why DMAE? It doesn't seem to have very good evidence.

My mistake. I meant DHA fish oil.

> Why glutamine? are you vegan/vegetarian?

Not at all haha. I've read how important it is for workout recovery and want to make sure I get enough in, so I thought I'd supplement with it. I'm on the fence about this one since I do eat a lot of protein, whey, and casein.

> Ashwagandha 800mg x2
>
> 800mg of what? Whole plant? It seems too high to be the extract which is what's researched/shows benefit. The extract is highly recommended.

It's the extract from NOW Foods. Examine.com states "The optimal dose is 6,000mg a day usually divided into three doses (2,000mg)". The Chopra Center is more conservative: "The typical recommended dose is 600 to 1,000 mg. twice daily." I initially came up with my dosage from their recommendation - I want to be conservative since I'm taking Rhodiola as well. If I take 2 NOW pills twice a day, it will up it to 900mg x2. Where did you read that 800 x2 would be too much?

But don't take my word for it. Here is an article from the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. (Yeah it helps against cancer too)
http://www.mskcc.org/cancer-care/herb/ashwagandha

2 Shatavari. Another Ayurveda herb. This is the female version of Ashwagana but they work better together. If you google Shatavari and sex, or Shatavari and men you wille see articles. I was reluctant to buy this but have found they work better together. Shatavari is 'cooling' where Aswaganadha is 'heating' so it calms down an over active sex drive.

It is marketed as a PHS medication but but, I have found it does help Ashwagandha.

So these two will have a long term positive effect. Blue Lotus and Sceletium is more of a fun 'night-of' thing. Like having a couple drinks to take the edge of.

I highly recommend Ashwagandha. I really does lower street levels.

Your current bmi is 16.9 . To get into healthy range you should try to be 70-78 kg.

If you aren't doing any exercise , i suggest eating at an excess of over 2500 calorie daily should increase your weight by at least 1kg weekly. Avoid any cardio.

Increasing your protein intake is not going to build muscle unless you workout at the gym. I would suggest joining gym not to build muscle, but you can try to get over your social anxiety and insecurity( I used to be fat so i can relate ).

I would suggest eating rice/potato with every meal . You can try poha in breakfast and rice-curry/biryani/potato for lunch and dinner in addition to your normal diet.If you are already eating rice then you just need to increase your quantity.Your stomach is an elastic organ, initially it will be difficult to consume large quantity but if you try to eat everyday to your maximum capacity it will become easier after a few weeks.

Preferably eat meat in this order mutton > chicken > fish , since mutton has most calorie.

If you don't want to change your diet then just purchase a mass gainer https://www.amazon.in/Optimum-Nutrition-Serious-Weight-Gainer/dp/B0015R36SK?th=1
Don't buy from any other company than ON,you will just waste money on a substandard product.Just take 2 scoop of this in morning and 2 scoop before bed and you should probably gain around 5 kg or more in a month. If you want to gain more than 5kg per month then take the mass gainer and also increase your diet.

I don't know anything about supplements in the UK; I have a "NOW" brand that has 5,000 IU per capsule.

I know the UK had some problems way the heck back when they fortified foods with too much vitamin D, and poisoned a bunch of people- aching joints, that sort of thing. The regulatory agency there may be touchy about marketing a vitamin D supplement with anything more than a tiny amount of the stuff. 5 ug would 200 IU, or what some people consider sufficient to stave off rickets- barely.

Maaaaaate! Fret not for pia-chan is here!
I started receding hard-out at 21/22. Am now 30 with a full head of hair. I'll tell you how I did it (cos I tried everything).

I have to agree with the commenters about the hairpiece, but last resort if what I tell you mow doesn't work...

  1. Finasteride, as recommended by a few other people. Probably won't grow anything back, but will most likely stop anymore hairloss.

  2. Biotin http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004H7GB9G/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/175-8411994-7005362 cheap as fuck and makes your hair healthy and strong.

  3. This shampoo http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/s/ref=is_s_ss_i_2_10?k=regenepure+dr+shampoo&sprefix=regenepure best one I've found so far. Takes the DHT away from your scalp or smthng.

  4. Lazer comb. You'll prob laugh at this, but no shit, best thing I've ever used. Was 100% skeptical at first, but got one for free. Used it half-assedly for a few weeks and in not even a month the regrowth was unbelievably spectacular. Hope it will work the same for you. Supposedly shocks the dead folicales back to life.

  5. Lipogane. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0037TM252/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1417513473&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SY200_QL40 Tonic you rub in morning and night. Good shit.

  6. Massage brush like this wee fella for use in the shower. http://beautytoptotoe.com/wp-content/uploads/Babyliss-Scalp-Massage-Brush.jpg Massaging is actually quite important. Blood flow.

Also, depending on how far gone/desparate you are, hair transplant always an option.

All of these will take time to work. Before you even start any, commit to a year, using them all consistently, and never miss a day on any of them. Most shit says 6-9 months to start to see anything (Usually little baby hair first) and 1 year-18 months for results. Freakishly, I saw wicked result after like a month.

No need to thank me, just name your first-born after me...

Try checking this out: Plant Deficiency Chart

Looks like some minor nutrient deficiency. Likely magnesium for old growth, but if it is still newer growth. Could be iron if considered new growth. You would have to research proper ferts for the tech level of your aquarium.

I would probably recommend root tables to keep the fertilization localized to the roots. Substrate fertilization helps keep nutrients out of the water column to minimize the risk of an algae outbreak in low-tech tanks. I use Osmocote packed in 00 gelatin capsules. Just use tweezers/forceps to plant roughly 1" below the substrate at the base of plant roots. I have a heavily planted tank with many root feeders, so I plant one every 4"-6" every 3-4 months, but you can put one straight under plants that need it too.

> such as you can get "b12 from plants and all your essential amino acids!" is patently incorrect and all reputable nutritionists and nutritional scientists will disagree.

This is your claim I just debunked.

>If you want to spend absurd amounts of money on expensive supplementation

I can sit here and keep debunking your goal post shifting, but it's a waste of my time to be honest. For example - if you just simply google b12 prices or fortified b12 foods, you'd realize it cost 1-2 dollars a month to get all your b12 needs at worst. B12 supplements are 12 cents per unit that you only need to consume twice a week. You're dishonest to say the least.

Curly hair generally takes a longer time to look longer and flowy so I wouldn't worry about it, just keep persevering. I've found Biotin to be a good supplement to increase growth, this is the one I take

A few months for hair to start to grow out thicker. My top 3-4 inches is all thick my ends are super thin. I’m going to have to cut as it grows.

Biotin is a pill I take. The oils I mix together and rub on my scalp, wrap in a scarf and go to bed. I rinse it out in the morning.

I'm using 5,000mcg of Biotin per day product link and 1,000mcg of Folic Acid product link. I feel like I'm definitely noticing a difference, and seeing some new hairs pop up in areas where there was little to no hair before. I'm going to stick with it for as long as I can.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KT3H13C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 its magic, it works better than xanax for bad stim feels IMO.

This is all personal experience BTW. But NAC has brought me out of stim pre-psychosis and let me be able to sleep 20 minutes after dosing it.

I agree with your post. This might be very helpful. Read the reviews and discuss it with the child's doctor. Also google it. NAC is being used more and more frequently over the last couple of years to help what have traditionally been very hard to alleviate disorders like Trichotilomania (hair pulling), OCD, bipolar, etc.

I had that problem and my dermatologist recommended Biotin. It has made a huge difference.

This is the 5,000 mcg I just ordered for my mom

Natrol Biotin Plus Lutein Tablets, 5,000mcg, 60 Count https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01C46JWN8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_uOM6Bb3QGPR1T

And I take the 10,000 mcg

Natrol Biotin Maximum Strength Tablets, 10,000mcg , 100 Count (pack of 2) ( Pack May Vary ) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0185PXU3K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_sPM6BbAXHF7JA

I initially found it at Sprouts but amazon had better prices. I just take one in the morning with the rest of my medication and supplements.

I have really thick, long Asian hair, and I've noticed that not using a hair dryer or heating products does wonders, along with Biotin supplements for me!

You want to make sure you start off with a lower dosage of Biotin supplements though, because it can cause acne breakouts for some people. I personally take 10,000 mcg Biotin tablets. (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0185PXU3K/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1)

I usually try different brands for a few months so my results are kinda off. Currently I'm taking a multi-vitamin that has 30 mcg and it's not really doing anything. Last one was 150 mcg.

I was taking one with 10,000 mcg but I still didn't notice any results. Though I might try it again. Here's the link for amazon.

> utritious food. It's not bad for you per se but you could be eating more healthily - anything up to around 3000 calories should be more than doable with just food (that's like 3 medium sized meals @ 800 cals plus some snacks or a dessert).

This is the Mass Gainer i use: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Optimum-Nutrition-Serious-Chocolate-Weight/dp/B0015R36SK
