Zipties suck.

I've been using Velcro cable ties for a few years now. It's easy and cheap to pull out or ad in another cable. I find it helps more than you think because it reduces the friction required to make it look right.

I also use sleeves like this and this, a few wraps, and raceways. For raceways, I have this, but I'm not 100% happy with it and may switch to a basket one of these days.

I also see a lot of cables that are way too large for the space. Pick up a few short cables and remove that bulk. You don't need to go crazy with this, just pick the worst offenders.

Beyond that, focus on cleaning up the points where cables join or split. A loop hook or brace in the right spot can really clean things up. Try to have a single point where cables go to the window/closet. Have a single point at the desk that all cables going into the PC go through.

I think the cheapest possible somewhat viable solution is steel zip ties.

They sell steel zip ties that have a tensile strength of close to 200lbs. Just wrap those around the frame where the bolts were, they should hold you just fine. I used to make signs, and we used zip ties similar to these to hold signs in windy places, and they are seriously strong.

https://www.amazon.com/SunplusTrade-Stainless-Exhaust-Multi-Purpose-Locking/dp/B072WC1MXT/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=steel+zip+ties&qid=1569682553&s=gateway&sr=8-3

u/Trifax · 30 pointsr/battlestations

It's not mentioned too often here, but the quality of documentation on the battlestations makes a world of difference. Beyond the slick setup, great presentation. The video is awesome.

Your gear is stellar for your needs, it's clear that the layout and hardware selection is doing you well. Would love to see more character around the space. Definitely a new chair. Regarding lamps, maybe give something like this a try. Strip LED's may be a nice touch along the back of the desk, but the laptop stand/PS4 obstruct just enough of the lighting to make it not worth doing.

I'd also be careful with temperature in the cabinet. Something to think about.

Finally, you can improve that already pretty good cable management with a black fiber cable wrap like this one (25 ft is more than you need but you get the point).

Cheers!

How about stainless steel zip ties for extra super fun times.

I'm sure most of you are familiar with VR cover mod and head strap.

But even after both modification, I noticed that the headset still feel "lose" at the button half, and I always get better image quality and clearity if I push the headset closer to my face/nose from the bottom.

The solution was pretty easy, I used this Velcro tape and this Velcro tie, both links are Amazon Canada, but if you search or "Velcro Brand" you should be able to find all their products, they are a pretty established velcro products company.

And now I can finally enjoy the best image quality and this actually relieved much more pressure on my forehead compares to just the VR cover foam + head strap. Definitely recommend to try it out as it doesn't cost much.

Hope Samsung can improve the comfort in their future VR headset, it's just pure laziness that they can't spend a bit more time to come up with a solution...

There is a style of command hook that works great for this.

u/Cyrax89721 · 6 pointsr/CableManagement

Easy enough!

Beyond that, I use velcro straps, clear tape, double sided tape, cable sleeves, and zip ties depending on the circumstance. Doing an Amazon search for Cable Management will also help get you some ideas.

u/crenstro · 6 pointsr/battlestations

I use some cable raceways for my TV the bedroom. Pretty cheap option. You can pick them up at your local home improvement store. They come in a bunch of sizes and lengths, and are easy to paint if you want.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0781J9Q2S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_LC.WAbTJ8MWA0

Edit: I used the 3M Velcro command strips to hang them instead of drilling into the wall. They do sell self adhesive ones, but it will take the paint off the wall if you ever decide to move it.

u/Gen_Buck_Turgidson · 5 pointsr/cableporn

Most people use color coding to signify different purposes and types of connections. We have a large chart that we follow at my office of colors to functions. I can look at a yellow cable in our setup and know 99% of the time... it goes to a patch panel, just like I can look at an orange cable and know it goes between two different racks.

For behind computer maybe use some split Techflex sheathing. You can neaten up a lot of it by just hiding it inside the sheathing and since it is split you can have it drop a cable out as needed along the length of it. I've used it in my home theater install as well as behind and around my desk. http://www.amazon.com/Techflex-Split-Sleeving-ft-Black/dp/B0008IV3XC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1318341592&sr=8-3

Use a fabric wrapped cord. You can simply replace the cord with a new fabric one from someplace like this:

https://www.colorcord.com/pages/fabric-wire

Or, if you are not comfortable rewiring things, you can get fabric cord covers, or some that look kinda fabric like this one, but perhaps in a different color:

https://www.amazon.com/PET-Expandable-Braided-Sleeving-10ft/dp/B00ZATLUZ0

You can use a bit of electrical tape to add a nice clean end on the braided sleeving. I'm sure there are fabric versions somewhere that might look a little better.

u/WorldAmbassador · 5 pointsr/malelivingspace

Love the lamp! And the TV backlight, never thought of getting something other than white though.

You should get a cable management solution for your cables like so.

u/SimpleHeuristics · 5 pointsr/headphones

It’s actually not a headband cover! It’s just some extra neoprene I had lying around. It’s one of those things you use to wrap a bunch of cables together for cable management. I just cut a section the length of the headband. Something like this: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B012S2NXJW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_y050AbYD5WJS9

I don’t remember the exact width (since this was a tight fit) so some of these products might not work.

HERE YOU GO! :D

  • Adhesive Zip Tie Mounts

( Example ) Does what it says on the tin. Is adhesive on one side, has a passthrough for a zip tie on the other. Useful for guiding cables along flat surfaces.

  • Zip Ties

( Example ) They tie things. You have to cut them to remove them, but they're stupid cheap. Great anywhere that space is a concern, or anywhere next to a flat surface with mounts.

  • Velcro Ties

( Example ) These are best for cables you might change frequently and places where a little bulk is OK. I use them anywhere the cables are hidden, but are coming apart but not away from the hiding surface.

  • Wire Straps

( Example ) These are great in place of zip ties + adhesive tie mounts, because they're easy to open and can hold larger bundles, but not easily bundles as small. So, big sibling metaphor. Oh, and you don't have to cut them to change something.

  • Stirrup Ties & Cable Staples

( Example ) These are basically the same thing, but the "staples" come with the nail in them, but stirrups can use screws. Great for routing single cables, like say, ethernet if it's not in the walls, up to the ceiling, and in the corners all the way to the router. Just don't damage your cable accidentally.

  • Spiral Wraps & Sleeves

( Example ) These are great for bundles of wire that have to pass a good distance (1ft+) through someplace visible. Spiral of sleeve really depends on context, spirals are fine for all-dark cables, but mixed colors means get a sleeve instead.

  • Raceways & J-ways

( example ): These often come with adhesive backs and you can get corners and intersections and basically hide cables inside a "tunnel" shaped like wall or desk. Oh, there are floor versions too. J-ways are usually just straight strips, but almost perfect for any desk with a vertical back panel.

  • Plastic shoeboxes in a solid color (yes really) & "Cable Managers" & Cable Trays

( Example ) These are good for areas where lots of cables meet. Your surge protector, for example, should go in one of these (preferably the box kind, not the example), and they should be mounted to the wall. Otherwise they're most used for massive networking installations, IIRC. Cable trays are like this, but more open. Use them somewhere hidden, can take the place of loop sticks with longer or thicker cables.

  • Loop sticks

( Example ) These are for basically, getting rid of slack. Or putting your earbuds in your pocket, but slack works great, especially tucked just out of sight with the rod zip tied to an adhesive tie mount.

  • Grommets

( Example ) Now this is serious cable management, if you have a drill. Run your cables under the desk, until a central (or several small!) grommets to minimize their visual presence.
u/Bohan_of_Rohan · 5 pointsr/battlestations

You need these. They make cable management super easy and SUPER clean. Otherwise, great set up!

edit: Here's my before and after using these cable raceways

u/burnt-store-studio · 5 pointsr/MusicBattlestations

This is also how I work. A smidge more detail from my set up -- I have multiple "Cord Control Kits" (fancy name, it's just a plastic tube); cannot find these anymore other than eBay, so also use these sleeves.

I use the sleeves / kits are for my racked gears' power, audio, and MIDI, separately. (Keeping power and audio separately to avoid interference, and MIDI just for appearance.)

For my desk -- computer power cords, video cables, USB, Thunderbolt, &c -- these are routed as much as possible behind the desk and behind my keyboards, occasionally twist-tied or velcro-tied to the desk or keyboard stand legs. When there's a bit of a mess I'm a bit embarrassed to write, then hidden behind a cloth hanging behind the desk (so the cables are between the wall and the cloth).

Just as /u/wrongfulness writes, cables stay in place when I take gear to a gig; this is important to me, although having a double set of cables can get expensive, and then they themselves need to be managed. I have a cable wall (like this material, but not exactly; I can't find exact product image this minute), where I drape all my extra cables, grouped by type and (roughly) by length.

Set up can be a chore, including keeping from inter-weaving cables in the racks. At one point, frustration led to unplugging one end of most cables from the gear, then re-running it more carefully.

I'm afraid I rambled here, sorry, but wish you well with finding your own solution; I feel it is quite useful and satisfying to have solid cable management and ultimately worth the effort.

Edit: to add: my room is in a partial square shape. Desk, with racks to the left and keyboards to the right and behind (with space to get in the middle :) ). This means running MIDI and ADAT from keyboard to racks, for which I have one of these, and do not step on it. They do not work as well as I'd have liked ... I had to tape the bottom slit closed to keep cables from popping out. I dislike this across-the-floor solution, but couldn't see purchasing long enough cables to go around the perimeter. (For taping, because I wanted to not get sticky on the cables, I put painters tape along the slit, with the non-sticky side against the floor runner, sticky side facing up, and then used duct tape to do the main securing to hold the slitted area closed.)

Not sure why I'm writing so much; sorry.

Edit 2: wrong words; ugh.

Bon Courage :)

I can't believe it took me so long to learn about stainless zip ties. I bought them for doing a turbo blanket wrap on my MINI Cooper, and ended up finding a lot of uses for them. Thinks like exhaust support on beaters when the hangers rust out, rattling heat shields on cats, etc etc. Something like this

u/[deleted] · 3 pointsr/3DS

I'm not too sure because I never needed to look for ones but a quick search on amazon brought me to these these. Alternatively, you could just try some of your other electronics like the bottom of your keyboard (old ones would do) and try re-applying those.

u/chriszuma · 3 pointsr/cableporn

You want split loom (or if you're really fancy, the Tech Flex kind).

u/TootsNYC · 3 pointsr/organization

LABELING: I label the plug ends of every plug (I often use a P-touch labeler, either by wrapping it around the plug itself or by wrapping it around the cord right next to the plug. (if the other end is also a plug, like HDMI cables, it gets labeled as well)

That way I can tell before I unplug them which is which.

BUNDLING: I sometimes will fold a cord back on itself and then bundle it. Either with a cable tie, or with those double-sided hook-and-loop (Velcro) cable ties.

That takes up the slack and keeps lots of loose cord from flopping around and getting tangles.

Plan your bundles so that the bundle itself falls where you want it; my vote is just a little bit below the underside of the desk (so your blue cord should rise straight up to the desk, and then bundled once it gets there)

You can get cable-tie anchors (Home Depot, Amazon, probably any electronics store) to attach to the underside of the desk (they are stick-on, but there are ones you can drive a screw through the center, or nail in from the sides), and then loop your cable tie through it to hold the cable in place.

BASKET: There are also under-desk baskets that you can lay the bundled cables in. I've seen people get those white wire baskets for flatware (or a wire dishrack, or under-shelf basket) from the kitchen store, and use cup hooks to attach it.

But there are pro versions. This one attaches to the side of the desk; this one hooks over the back of the desk; this one is screwed to the underside of the desk. Amazon has lots of different styles, including some that are solid instead of wires, though since wires can get warm, this wouldn't be good unless it's got decent airflow (like the one at the link.

These will let you ease the strain on the plugs and also let you lay the bundles of wires in them to keep them contained.

RACEWAYS or CORD COVERS: A raceway is a plastic or metal channel that the cord can lie in; some of them will hold more than one cord. They're especially useful if the cord will be exposed and unsightly, or exposed and vulnerable (to being stepped on, or snagged or even just likely to flop around) There are stick-on ones, but you can attach some with screws and nails. Home Depot has some, and of course online places.

The blue cord could go in a raceway up toward the desk, then be bundled and the bundle placed in an under-desk basket/shelf.

Here's an interesting kit. But it might require dismantling what you have, which is annoying. Installing a basket under the desk to place the bundles of excess cord in is probably easier.

Get a wire tray to put under your desk!

Like this one

u/Geedunk · 3 pointsr/battlestations

Leave a little space between your desk and the wall and either get a cable tray or check and see if your surge protector has slots on the bottom that you can use to hang it off screws.

Braided sleeving and velco strips will work wonders, or use a combination of the two depending on how much you have to deal with. It's on you to hide all of it behind your monitor stand for minimal appearance, but with a little work it'll look great!

I've been using a sleeve for cables that does a great job preventing this. It won't stop it forever, but it takes way more to get it tight and tangled. I can usually go through a play session of several hours without it bunching up on itself, then I just untangle what little bit is there when I'm done. This is the sleeve, and I secure it to the cables with these. It works beautifully.

u/SurfAndLaugh · 3 pointsr/Workspaces

Haha - too bad. I was hoping she might not be so quick! :) My buns are so adamant that they have the right to grab/chew anything in their territory. One particularly likes finding and throwing pens!

Just in case this is helpful for you sometime, i remembered that we also use these cord covers to keep our kittens from chewing groups of cords. These covers have worked really well for cord-bundle protection from teeth (and pee, ugh). You can cut them to size, but they might be too big still for individual phone cables.

Alright then, here's mine in all its humble glory. Cables from tv, cd/dvd, and turntable are concealed within white snap-together cable/cord concealer (no power cords) along the baseboard. Otherwise everything is organized and secured with Velcro tie/straps behind the media console, and with the audio rack. The power cords are sorted, bound, and routed along the side of the rack to keep them separated from the low voltage cabling, which is routed through the holes in the center-back of the rack shelves, likewise Velcro tied, and wrapped with velcro/neoprene wrapper. It's not as end-game cable management as I'd like, but I'm still searching for that prefec solution.

u/Blu3Skies · 3 pointsr/audiophile

Look at moving it out from the wall just a tad and try something like this to mount them to the back of the cabinet. Rotate your power strip so it's flush with the cabinet and then tada, if you see any cable at all it's only the power strip to the wall.

Since your LRs are in wall, you could go with a larger screen that's acoustically transparent. This for example...

https://www.amazon.com/STR-169120-WAB-Silver-Ticket-Cinema-Projector/dp/B00I4WT9Q2

If you want to have a clean look in conjunction with a acoustically transparent screen, buy another in wall speaker as your center and install that at the same height as the LRs, eliminating the need for any center stand. You could go a step further by placing the AV gear to the side on a little media shelf/rack, or just an entertainment center below. Would require a bit of cable channeling if you go with the rack idea of course.

I’ve yet to dig deep into my cable management bc school— but after looking into a lot of options, something like IKea signum rack and mounting my huge surge protector and KVM switch under desktop are looking like the best options.

As far as minimizing visible cable burden, I wouldn’t recommend those stretchy nylon/Velcro sleeves as they don’t keep the bundles of wrapped cables as tight as I’d like. These look like promising options:

Wall-mounting is the answer! I use these cable-gatherers from 3M alongside plenty of zip-ties to bundle and shorten cables. You can also try wall-mounting your speakers to clear up some space.

How did you mount the decks on the back wall there? I can't see how they stay up.

Hi, if your case is pure flat on the bottom i'd suggest buying these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/StarTech-com-Dia-Self-Adhesive-Rubber-Cases/dp/B00032Q30Q

will raise your PC enough to get some sort of airflow with out sucking up the contents of your carpet. Additional, grab a PC stand with vents on the bottom. As long as you keep the space around your PC clean, and clean your filters every couple of months you should be all good.

u/coma420 · 2 pointsr/Blackops4

I recommend getting some rubber feet for it to lift it up and help with air flow. Example: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00032Q30Q/

Also, move it some to the right, so that it's not completely against that wall on the left. Give it 3-4" on each side, and even more behind it.

Here, you could probably use these. Especially with a baby around that's going to start crawling around and grabbing hold of everything.

I found them quite uncomfortable as it put a lot of pressure on the center of my head, but I did a cheap/simple mod - I bought a replacement Sennheiser headband for $7 and some thin Velcro straps. It spreads the weight out evenly and made it very comfortable! All for ~$10.

I'm going to re-sand and finish my top here this winter. Think it's been about 2 years now. Driving a mouse without a pad has worn off the finish a little. I work from home so I use my desk everyday. I think it's always going to be an issue since they expand and contract at different rates. Mine is flush in the winter and a little proud in the summer but it's not a huge deal. You look like you used Claro walnut? so yours might work out different than mine.

Cords drive me nutters, you make this nice modern desk and then there is all this cord mess. The only think I might try since yours goes up and down?

Can you post an album of your setup and maybe under/around your desk? I put a lot of stuff under the desk that I dont nessicarly need to see all the time (USB hub, External hard drive)

Some general things that will help are Velcro Ties or for more permanant situations cable ties.
Also depending on the size or weight of your USB hub some mounting tape may help to keep it in place on your desk.

u/Skeczi · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

If you don't mind taking all of it off.....Which seems like a bad idea considering how much work you put into it, I would recommend using these cheap monoprice velcro straps.

I did all the cableing in my PC in about 30 minutes using those.

u/SWgeek10056 · 2 pointsr/Justrolledintotheshop

Depending on the kind of ties, this isn't as ridiculous as it sounds.

Type 1

Type 2

Don't know specifically what they're used for, but I know there exist ties with metal cores that police and military use to prevent you from breaking out of your restraints

I have reason to believe that person was using neither of the above types, though, and is indeed a moron.

You can Buy Braided sleeving,

https://www.amazon.com/PET-Expandable-Braided-Sleeving-10ft/dp/B00ZATLUZ0

Can put several cable in there, they are black and will even help with cable management.

u/mauionabreakaway · 2 pointsr/oculus

Definitely listen to the suggestions here to untangle it, but to keep it untangled (I went through the same problem), I highly recommend putting this on the cable:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZATLUZ0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's a bit of a pain, but it took less than half an hour to slip it on, and now the cable just straight up doesn't tangle.

u/GamerLucif · 2 pointsr/desksetup

Not sure about cable management in the case for but the desk...

I believe thats a malm desk so it has the rack in the back which means adding another won't be easy (really everything doesn't fit?). You could try using something like this or this with some 3m tape so you can mount the cables on the bottom of the desk so they aren't hanging. You could also wrap the cables to decrease the amount of slack using something like this. Any cables coming from the back of the monitors or the desk you can try using this. You could consider mounting your surge protector on the desk if it is not already so that no cables are dangling down to it and the only thing would be the surge protector wire.

Additional things you could look into would be a boom arm for the mic so its not sitting in the middle, might clean it up a bit. Also, if you are really dedicated to making it look nice and don't tend to rearrange that often, you could look into drilling holes for the wires for the keyboard/mouse (I'm personally not a fan of this method but people do it).

It might take a bit of cash to do ALL of that so maybe just prioritize what you think will give the best results.

You can reroute the bed wiring without having to do any soldering (I did mine a few weeks ago solderless). You just have to remove the wires from the plug head to get them to fit while pushing them up through the hole in the build plate assembly (https://youtu.be/4SjA5n-8S20?t=219)

This video does a good job showing what's needed. I ordered the following cable braiding to use on mine: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071WF5K2X/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and you'll have plenty left over.

Just make sure you mark on the plastic plug which slot the black wire goes in, and which the red goes in, so you don't get them backwards when putting them back into the plug

u/ChristopherDButler · 2 pointsr/Ubiquiti

I'm surprised a standard 1/2 band width doesn't fit. You'll probably have to go down one size to a 5/16" band width. http://m.hoseclampkings.com/cat-122-1-89/410-ss-screw.htm has a bunch but their MOQ is 100 units. Search on Google for a 5/16" band width hose clamp. They are typically in shorter lengths due to their smaller width but I'm sure somebody makes them in longer lengths.

You could also try stainless steel zip ties: https://www.amazon.com/SunplusTrade-Stainless-Exhaust-Multi-Purpose-Locking/dp/B072WC1MXT/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=steel+zip+ties&qid=1558490451&s=gateway&sprefix=steel+zi&sr=8-3

u/PIG20 · 2 pointsr/mazda3

Yeah, I see. That does sound to be an issue where the force of the snow is stronger than the pieces holding it together.

The plastic buttons will only work if they actually fit in the holes though. My old splash shield was actually held on by metal screws. Which did the job until they just corroded and rusted to the point where they would fall off.

The zip ties always worked for me but I also didn't have to drive through deep snow with the car. If anything, it was mostly just slush.

They do have stainless steel zip ties. Maybe they would be strong enough to hold it in place?

I did a lot of research of several types of cable clips on Amazon and after using these ones i would definitely recommend. The adhesive is very strong compared to others. I just put these all over the back of the edge table and routed the cables through them. Worked like a charm! I also used three of them to clip the power strips to the bottom of the desk. I would cut the zip tie of one of them and run the other two zip ties through 1. I don't know if that makes sense. I can add pictures. Might be easier to understand.

You really gotta sit there and stare at it and think how you can hide everything, neatly and routed in a way thats easy to clean. Having my monitors wall mounted allowed me to use the brackets to hide the long monitor power cords and hdmi cables i was also able to mount a power strip behind there so it was easier to power things while hiding wires.

Interesting but they don't give any info on how you are supposed to get multiple cables through the 40" length of it. Especially once the first cable is in, the more you put in there the harder it would be to get another one in. And sorta pricey to boot.

I apologize. Let me do my best to break it down clearly for you here. Because it's a lot of stuff I was confused too, so I made a document that I hope clearly details my build and the associated costs. For the sake of this, I'm excluding peripherals, because I can't buy them from Memory Express anyways. If you're interested in what I've chosen I can link those too.

So, to begin, ME is holding on to their last 1060 for me, if I do my full system build with them (due to miners, they won't sell it to me alone). As a result, I can price match any of my items with them -- including the video card (of course, I'll be hard-pressed to find the GPU for less than they're listing it for). That's why I listed PCPP -- according to the associate I spoke with, they're willing to price match with any of the sites on there, so long as they have the GPU in stock. This is the most up-to-date build I have -- I've for now excluded the peripherals and the RAM.

The RAM I'm still iffy about. The one I have on the build right now is a Kingston 2x4 GB for $125. I wasn't given a product number and forgot to ask, but through some digging on their website, I found this and I think it's that one because the price is the same (it's the only one at exactly that price). If not, they have it in stock and I can switch it out for this one.

As far as I can tell, it's identical to the one you linked. What do you mean by expandability? As far as I can tell, my motherboard has 4 memory slots. Can I not just add more RAM? Unless I need to use those to connect stuff like my HDD and SSD, but I thought those used PCI-e slots.

If 8 gb will do me fine then I'm happy, I just don't want to have to upgrade any time soon. The 16gb version of the same one is less than $100 more so it's something I'll have to consider. If it was you, what would you do? The choices:

I think I've decided on 500GB. More storage is always better, and again, I don't want to have to switch, transfer, or upgrade later. I aim to put only my OS and most of my games on there, so it will be dedicated to that.

ACER GN246HL 24in Full HD 144Hz LCD LED

Price Match w/ Amazon.ca @ $249.99

https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX64422

So the total price of all of the above comes to:

$1446,44 if I choose to go with 8 GB of RAM, OR

$1546,95 if I choose to go with 16 GB of RAM.

Prices may fluctuate a bit depending on the prices I'm matching with (I'll review as I get closer to picking up the parts) and tax etc.

I hope that was enough. Please let me know if there's any more info you need. Sorry for the late response by the way, trying to get some homework done at the same time, haha.

Heat shrink, why only pick one size?

If you're planning on using a lot of heat shrink it might be a good investment to get a heatgun, although a lighter works just fine.

[Cable sleeves] (https://www.amazon.com/PET-Expandable-Braided-Sleeving--10ft/dp/B00ZATLUZ0/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1467915160&sr=8-3&keywords=cable+sleeve) on amazon, there are multiple different sizes you can pick from, a quick search will net you tons of results.

A Helping Hand can be nice, but isn't needed.

You'll need to get a wire stripper or an x-acto knife and a careful hand. A hot glue gun is necessary IMO, it will protect and insulate your solder points as well as hold cables down IF you don't have zip ties. Also get zip ties. I made use of a wood file I had so I could smooth out some of the sharp carbon fiber edges on my frame, just don't breath in the fiber dust. I use pas 99% of the time. Based on my use, a thumb throttle to give some extra boost on a steep climb works perfect, when riding the throttle full time twist is probably better.

I did not have a gear sensor, but installed one after breaking my chain 3 times in a week. (I shift a lot)

For battery you can't go wrong with a shark pack with good Samsung/Panasonic cells.

I use the "52v Mini 3amp Advanced Charger with 3 Position Toggle" from Luna. It works fine, a bit noisy though.

On an old bike buy the brake levers with cutoff sensor built in.

If your shift cables are running in grooves under the bottom bracket instead of cable housing you will need to buy a new shift cable + housing.

What you (probably) need as well:

  • Crank puller (Just buy it, a bbs02 kit is not install and forget it.)
  • BB removal tool (depends on the type, you can have your bike shop do this.)
  • Depending on the type of pedals you need a special narrow key to remove them.
  • Lots of zip ties
  • A bunch of washers with 6mm hole to put between the motor and lock bracket
  • Green Loctite (put on the bbs02 lock ring and crank bolts)
  • Some rubber padding (old bike inner tube works) to put between frame and motor
  • Dielectric grease (to make electric connections waterproof)
  • Assorted Metric Hex keys (5mm, 6mm, 8mm)
  • Small Philips head screwdriver.
  • Optional cable sleeves

I just got the ad500x, the cable is long, not the best but not NEARLY as bad as the complaints make it out to be. Im using mine with a modmic so I have TWO cables to deal with and I plan on sleeving them together. The modmic has a cable the same length which is good because they need to reach the back panel of my computer and I have a larger desk and like a little freedom to move around.

my thought is this, the point of headphones is sound, if the one drawback you see is a cable, youve made an excellent compromise. You can fix it with this: https://www.amazon.com/PET-Expandable-Braided-Sleeving-10ft/dp/B00ZATLUZ0 if you really want to.

edit-fyi these replaced my steelseries siberia 800 (so wireless to terrible cable lol) and are much cleaner and the soundstage exists(I thought the atmos was working but its clearly limited in closed headphones). Overwatch and bf1 have much more directionality, I pushed a little more low end through them and they sound relatively neutral(flat).

u/Naulty85 · 1 pointr/xboxone

this is what i went with for my headphones. they are absolutely amazing. then i popped a modmic onto them and used this for the wiring. best "gaming headset" ive ever had.

There is cheaper and more expensive options. but i really liked the aluminum frame, and open stage. its a sound like ive never had before. doesn't feel like my games audio are being injected into my ear, but more like im there.

> Are the cable management tubes any good?

Yeah, definitely! But I recommend something like this over one of these spiral ones. They don't cost much more and are easier to handle. Plus, they would allow the cables to move easily so you won't have that snagging problem(cable ties) with the charger and headphones.

Alright, I finally got the list together.

After all the feedback, this is what I decided to go for.
I'll provide a list of useful videos to help you understand why I suggest certain parts, as well as guides to help you get this system up and running.

I've edited in some extra items from Amazon. I did not include those into the total price, since I am not sure if you need or want everything.

Had the same issue (though on level 30 >.<). Here's now I fixed it:

I purchased 10' extensions for the HDMI/USB/Audio cables and then (this is key) wrapped them in these.

A costly upgrade but I haven't had a single wire issue since. You still get wrapped up if you're not careful but it's easy enough between rounds to see which way you need to turn during the next round to undo it.

Here's my stream from last night when I got rank #3, you can see my wire setup and technique for monitoring it (skip around).

I used this, these, a little of this, and these. Turned out good and didn't cost too much

I'm looking into these to help with my cables. Looks good.

I use this thing. You can cut holes for wires to go through. Works like magic! https://www.amazon.com/DigitGear-Cable-Management-Adjustable-Organizer/dp/B01COMROJQ?pldnSite=1

When I had a housemate whose cats loved my cables, I had great luck with these:

https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Management-Sleeve-inches-wide/dp/B01COMROJQ/ref=sr_1_18?ie=UTF8&qid=1474920184

Cats lost all interest in cables tucked inside the sleeves - AND cabling looked much neater.

u/drifter_dave · 1 pointr/battlestations

They are these. They work well, but when you cut them the velcro tends to start coming off.

I personally reuse the little ties that come with the cables I purchase. These would be a great investment too though.

There are no lens replacements. Unless you wear glasses there's really no need for lens covers. And if you do wear glasses, get glasses inserts from widmovr.com or similar places that make Rx lens inserts.

Protect your tether cable with a woven cable sleeve like this. If that tether gets broken it's going to cost you upwards of $150 off ebay to get a replacement.

Tape or screw the power strip to the bottom of the desk and add cable trays (I have these) to the bottom of the desk so you have somewhere to tuck any extra length. Use cable clips of some sort (like these or these or these) to keep cable runs tidy and in place. If you have cables that you need to bundle together or keep folded, use reusable cable ties like this and avoid using zip ties since they're single-use and can damage cables if they're over-tightened.

If you have cables that you might want to remove from time to time, like for peripherals, then you should avoid bundling them with everything else. Might seem obvious, but I thought I'd throw it out there since I've made that mistake before with my keyboard and mouse.

Hope this helps.

You might look into adhesive plates for the pictured velcro wraps (like these).

Failing that, I'd use one of the following:

an adhesive wrap:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075Y9J42T

Or an adhesive clip:

I say manage everything on top. I use these for under-desk management LINK but I imagine top would be similar. Run as much as you can along the back wall of the workstation and maybe try to pick up a piece of trim or something to hide it.

u/moejazi · 1 pointr/CableManagement

These are the ones i used. I used some 3m tape as well to stick down the ends so they dont stick out.

u/FreezingTaz · 1 pointr/battlestations

I use these for cable management and they work great!
Love the way they work because if I need to add, move, or change cables, I can do so easily thanks to the adjustable clip.
Also if you need to remove them, they come off fairly easy and don't leave marks on the desk.

I drilled some holes in the walls and ran the cables, but that can be kind of expensive if you don't already have the tools (Here's a video if your curious https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2--l-YX1HU ).

But this isn't always necessary. Here's another video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSqbXl5m4_o

They also make things like this https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Management-Channel-Organizing-Wall/dp/B0781J9Q2S/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?keywords=wire+hiders&qid=1555747014&s=gateway&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1 they work pretty well as long as you paint them to match the room.

u/colour_golden · 1 pointr/DeskCableManagement

I just got these. Seems decent so far Cable Trunking, Stageek Desk Wall Cable Management System, 3.5 Meter Open Slot Self-Adhesive Cable Tidy Wire Cover Concealer Raceway for Home and Offi https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07C9ZWH1H/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_GkrrLs8bbNeC8

u/DoomRyGuy · 1 pointr/DeskCableManagement

Based on what I can see in your picture, it looks like you could probably benefit most from using a Raceway. With it you should be able to channel all of your cables in one direction. Meaning starting from your rig, up the right desk leg and straight across underneath the desk. Should give you a much cleaner look.

u/xnlagsx8 · 1 pointr/DeskCableManagement

Absolutely, these are the ones that I used:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C9ZWH1H/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They come with 9 which is more than you'll ever need, and they have a side with 3m adhesive so you can just stick them on furniture, walls, etc.

I also used these:
https://www.amazon.com/Scotch-Multi-Purpose-Fasteners-Black-RF7021/dp/B000GAZ7H0/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=scotch+velcro&qid=1564782382&s=electronics&sr=1-1
