I used vinyl, I don't know how long it'll hold up full disclosure. But I've used it on cars in the past for years and I think it'll hold up. It's easy to work with and change out colors. But again do it at your own risk.
I wanted a quick way to change things that's non permanent. Let me know what you think.

I'm not affiliated with the seller, but I've been asked enough times for the links. Really any vinyl should work if it was mean for cars. It's durable.
So i work for a vehicle wrapping and signage business, and usually we deal this sort of stuff in the regular and my go-to liguid for jobs like this is called "rapid remover", Amazon link below And this stuff works wonders, all you need is to spray this on liberally, then give it about 5 minutes and then use some type of plastic squeegy to remove the thick glue off the door, and finally spray again and use paper towel to remove the remaining residue.

Here is a pic of my Index and a link to the amazon carbon fiber vinyl wrap I used.
It's actually a self adhesive vinyl, I assume it's quite replaceable with a bit of goo gone if needed. Here's the exact product I ordered
Full list of parts + links + pricing:
For anyone wondering, the material he used called 3M DI-NOC and it's pretty cheap and holds up well from what I've heard.
Wow, I've never seen those.
It'd be super simple to get that same look with some carbon look viny.
You could always put the io at the back, put a vinyl decal to cover the bottom (now front) and add some feet with a 90° PSU cable connector.
$10 for vinyl wrap or a cut to size sheet of acrylic and some double sided tape.... Or leave it is is lol
$10- Tall adhesive feet (could go shorter for cheaper, but you want them tall to fit the PSU extension)
$3 low profile PSU extension (these are lower profile than what you'll find on Amazon... I spent a few days looking lol) Other super low profile connectors can be found on taobao and purchased through super buy
So an additional ~$25 to make it work... But that's up to you if you want to go that route. :)

If its painted over with a top coat, the only solutions would be to remove it and repaint it or cover it up with something like you mentioned. On my old fame, I put some car vinyl, like this, over the logos I didnt like and it turned out really nice.
Parts:
If you just want to plug it in without a battery, you can just use a cheap 12 power source like this one:https://www.amazon.com/inShareplus-Mounted-Switching-Connector-Adapter/dp/B01GD4ZQRS/ref=sr_1_4?crid=2T2QLKKWS5A2A&keywords=12v+power+supply&qid=1569933646&s=lawn-garden&sprefix=12v+power%2Clawngarden%2C160&sr=1-4

Total without lipo - $97, with battery power, add another $20. I bet if you get these parts of alibaba, you can save quite a bit of $$$
Lesse. The instinct will be to paint over. Spray paint can compromise the shell integrity and foam of a helmet. If you go over em, make sure you get paint that's safe for a helmet.
You might try vinyl decal stickers. I did my helmet with pinstripe tape, which is very similar in terms of construction. Try something like so - just cut a big stripe and run it up the middle of the helmet.

I'm just worried it may interfere with heat dissipation.

No problem, this is the one I got! I have a lot leftover as well
Didn't use a template, freehand with a scalpel. God luck: https://www.amazon.com/Orion-Black-Carbon-Fiber-Vinyl/dp/B007OXCIB0
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0059XCVVO/ You'll also need a sharp razor to trim it neatly. I'm assuming you have one on hand, if not just get one of those too.
There are many varieties of carbon fiber vinyl. The one that gets the most attention, and is of the highest quality, is known as Carbon Fiber Di-Noc by 3M. This particular carbon fiber vinyl does have a texture. The texture and overall look is practically identical to that of real carbon fiber.
You can apply it to most wood products (plywood, OSB, MDF, HDF, ect...) however, the vinyl will show all of the lumps and gaps of what you apply it to. Thus, I would make sure you sand and finish your plywood before application.
If you are really worried about how well the vinyl will hold, you can coat what ever you want to wrap in a thin coat of 3M tape primer. This will give you an extremely solid hold, and is intended for high wear, and high usage applications.
Here is a link to where you can get Di-Noc at a good price:
http://www.amazon.com/Black-3M-DI-NOC-Carbon-CA-421/dp/B0062A7M2G/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1405249048&sr=8-3&keywords=3m+carbon+fiber+vinyl

well then everyone else is SCREWED. mwahahaha
and I can wrap my tires and headers with this stuff right?
Agreed, but I ended up buying some roughly color matching vinyls on Amazon for the handles that leave a very slight chrome outline visible. The rest of the chrome looks fine on the Midnight Silver Metallic in my opinion. Window trim is pretty normal across many cars now, and the side mirror and camera housings aren't terrible looking. The handles now being the same color with a slight chrome outline make the biggest difference for a casual look.

Just saw this stuff recently at an autozone, maybe it'll help for future guns. Love your work! http://www.amazon.com/3M-Scotchprint-Carbon-Fiber-Vinyl/dp/B0058DIDTY
I apologize in advance for this long post. None of these are "must gets", but they are what I got for my 2016 Premium forester. I'm posting this for my own future reference as well as to help some people who are wondering what accessories might be good for their new forester. I highly recommend ordering from Jackie from Annapolis Subaru @ 443-837-1422 as she can get you some good prices on the subaru accessories as well as WeatherTech products! I saved on WeatherTech shipping costs (~$20) by ordering through Jackie and the warranty is the same as if I had bought them through their website.
Please note that some of these accessory links are for my specific car year, model and configuration. I have a 2016 Premium forester without eyesight (affects the Covercraft/heatshield sunshade - they also have eyesight compatible sunshades!).
Also, I personally didn't get my windows tinted, but I think that is something that you should seriously consider doing :)

I got two 25ftx2" rolls on Amazon. Link is here

Knifeless tape is your friend.
The top layer is just the regular plexi, but I threw a cheap $10 vinyl wrap on.
The switches on the front are cherry rocker switches, which you can get here and here, although mine aren't connected since I don't really find the tournament lockout or LS/DP/RS switcher useful.
I used an adhesive vinyl leather like material to cover it. I bought it from amazon. Here is the link:
https://www.amazon.com/VViViD-Black-Carbon-Release-Technology/dp/B00L9J4JRG?ref_=ast_bbp_dp
Make sure to clean the case very well so it will be easier for the adhesive to stick to the wood.
Your other option would be this: https://www.amazon.com/3M-G12-GLOSS-BLACK-Vinyl/dp/B007P6R78A
Most people seem to think it lasts at least 3-5 years on cars and is completely removable when you decide you are done with it. It should be pretty easy to prep your plastics and apply it.
RR racing has a chip that came out last summer that adds like 15 horsepower (so they claim) that costs $350. Also, I love my K&N cold air intake on my 350, it's a throaty growl when you step on it and it supposedly added 12 horses. The intake system also improved mpg +2 on the highway. I also replaced all interior lights with LED's myself with a kit I found on eBay, very nice bright white light, it replaces side door lights and trunk lights too. Ummm I replaced my gear shift knob with a Lexus certified F Sport shifter and I also carbon fiber vinyl wrapped the door trim on my F-Sport. Also went with 15% tint. The only two things I want to do on mine is to powder coat my brake calipers F Sport blue and add a full catback exhaust.

I was aiming to add more texture to the touch pads, sweat and oil can be washed of with eyeglass cleaner and a cotton rag :) but I don't have that problem. I just wanted something that would help my fingers feel navigation on the touch pad. You can use the 'Touch Protect' product but I ordered a similar type of material from amazon and made my own for cheaper.. pluss, by doing it yourself you can pick the color and texture you want from the many more options available.

Cut a larger square shape than the touch pads, apply then cut off (following the edge of the touch pad) with a utility blade.
TCBunny 3D Carbon Fiber Vinyl Film Wrap Black 12" x 60" Sheet https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0059XCVVO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_yxeSyb71GWA2V
All of them are good i think but this is the one i used. Also a lot of people say 3M's is better but i think this turned out really well
Hexane will dissolve most glues without harming plastics. It flashes off really fast though, and wear gloves, it can soak through your skin. We do vinyl graphics on signs and the adhesive removers we use work well to. Rapid remover is one. Might have to order some online. Grimco is one of my suppliers but I’ll bet amazon has some too.
yup, found it
It's 3M Satin Black vinyl wrap:
https://www.amazon.com/3M-S12-SATIN-BLACK-Vinyl/dp/B008OIQEG4
Don’t have them myself, but u/kenriko makes some wheel kits
literally under $10
3m stuff is the best and it comes in all sorts of colors and patterns (carbon fiber or wood). Installing it yourself isn't too bad. You can watch a video on youtube for it.
example of product:

Not OP, but it looks like this stuff: 3M Scotchprint 1080 Carbon Fiber Vinyl Flex Wrap
Former vehicle wrap installer here. We used something like these plastic razor blades with this adhesive remover in a spray bottle in conjunction with a heat gun (hair dryer).
Amazon, of course: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0059XEM9I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Thanks, It's fake CF.
After building this, I'd recommend this for non-automotive projects: It's cheap, looks, great, and has a pleasant texture: Amazon link
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00FXY7W9U/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1468099877&sr=8-3&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=black+vynil+wrap should work great, just cut to size
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007OXCIB0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
If it's peel and stick its definitely not carbon fiber. It'll be some sort of weaved plastic with an adhesive backing similar to duct tape. 3m makes something like this, alot of people will wrap interior trim pieces in their cars with this because the weave makes it look like carbon fiber. Personally, i think it looks alright, but i also have fairly extensive carbon fiber experience, so my view is probably skewed from the norm.
No matter if you do the peel and stick or do carbon fiber you're gonna have some issues not getting wrinkles and air bubbles due to the shape. My suggestion would be cut out a front piece, a back piece, and a strip that runs along the edge. This will make everything much smoother, but there will be a seam.
If you want real carbon fiber....fair warning it will not come out looking as good as you hope. To get that deep clear coat looking surface that carbon is layed up against a polished steel mold of that surface so that the resin is perfectly smooth and clear. Without a mold like that it'll never looks as good.
What you could try is wrapping the bass in carbon and pouring the resin over it. Then polish and add clear coats until it looks good. If you're going to do this make sure you practice a few times first, once that resin sets you're never getting the carbon off.
Tl:dr - If you don't like the color of your bass my suggestion is to sand it down and repaint it.
Edit: here's the 3M stuff http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0058DIDTY/ref=pd_aw_sim_263_2?ie=UTF8&dpID=41cKvFFtiKL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL100_SR100%2C100_&refRID=1E55DSZAWGXQZYB7AJAK
You can use something like this to cover the camera in a black film without painting it. You could paint it but you would have to be meticulous about taping off any of the internal components, as others have indicated. I think the vinyl would be much easier
Does the personal army clause cover arts and crafts? XD If not.
Not sure what the piece looks like you're trying to cover, but there's also chrome/metallic vinyl.
3M DI-NOC CA-421 BLACK CARBON... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0062A7M2G?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I used this and loved it. It’s textured and matte. Looks soo good
Carbon fiber wraps? Carbon fiber wraps. Love the look of it, and no more green hands or funky taste. Took me a couple of tries to get a satisfactory application (get your xacto knife out, not scissors) But really happy with the result.
I know this isn't everyone's bag, but I bought a sheet of 3M carbin fiber vinyl wrap 60"X 12" for under 25 bucks and made my own.
Its extremely easy to do really. Precut your size, score your camera edge and the edge of the frame with your nail or a plastic score tool and gently cut there with a fresh xacto.
Fits perfectly, exact same material that you're getting from any skin distributer and there's a plethora of patterns and colors. Yes I said plethora!

If anyone is curious I guess I could do a quick pic demo and links for tools. I'm a sculptor and have this stuff already but it's easy to get and do. And you'll have plenty of material left to use on other devices in the future!
Thanks man! I’m a little jealous of you with your ‘16. Here’s the vinyl I bought: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FXY7W9U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_EHnxCbSQS61Y5
After seeing what /u/SgtDwightSchrute1 built the other day, I wanted to give it a go as well! I took most of the parts he used and linked in his thread, but I went with a few more switches as well as a set of POV buttons that have a mode switch to switch them from POV directions to an X-Y axis. The Green button is for the POV mode, and I also moved the Mode LED to the face of the box so you can tell what mode it is in.
I also added some vinyl carbon fiber wrap to give it a nice finish!
Parts links which are the same as /u/SgtDwightSchrute1 for the most part:

The LED is a 5mm Green 18mcd with a holder I had around, but any LED would work, just don't go super bright!

Could make a carbon fiber cover for the red parts, it just sticks on so it shouldn't void your warranty since you can just peel it off.
https://www.amazon.com/VVIVID-Black-Carbon-Release-Technology/dp/B00L9J4JRG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1540315111&sr=8-3&keywords=carbon+fiber
I cut mine from this wrap that I had lying around.
I used this: https://www.amazon.com/VViViD-Black-Carbon-Release-Technology/dp/B00L9J4JRG/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=vinyl+wrap&qid=1556736641&s=gateway&sr=8-3
But they have other colors and finishes. The material is nice, kind of like a rip stop fabric you’d find on a tent or something. Maybe not the best description. It is textured because it’s the carbon one, I imagine the others would be smooth. I’ve really liked the finish, it feels better on my hands and doesn’t get hot or tacky.
Thank you!
No worries! We're here to help.
Here's the link to the wrap I chose. I experiment with others and this treated me pretty well. I forget what exact size I went went for that. But it's a small area so a little bit will go a long way.
Also worth noting, if you don't have a heat gun, a hair dryer will do just as well. Just be careful when cutting, there's not a whole lot of places to tuck the edges of the edges of the wrap into.
3M 1080 G12 GLOSS BLACK 5ft x 6ft (30 Sq/ft) Car Wrap Vinyl Film https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007P6R78A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_VpuvzbG9H1S4W
If the carbon film ends up looking like a bit too much you could get some satin film or some glossy black film, both are 1' x 5' which should be plenty to do all of the door trim pieces. You could also plastidip it and try different finishes with that, it is easily removable. But, I would only try that after I had made the surface nice and flat, which it may already be but I can't judge that from the photos. Good luck!
It's actually the backplate that came with the phone, I just bought a roll of carbon fiber vinyl, applied it with the help of a space heater, and then "trimmed" the edges, which was almost more like shaving off the excess. Worked way better then I expected TBH.
Amazon link to carbon fiber roll: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0059XCVVO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_2L1Ryb2VGJV8F
https://www.amazon.com/VViViD-Carbon-Featuring-Release-Technology/dp/B00L9J4JRG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1550326138&sr=8-1&keywords=thick%2Bvinyl%2Bwrap&th=1 thats the one i got, its a tad thicker and still cheap. Hopefully it works ok. The problem with the wrap i have now is the adhesive sucks (also probably because i have silicone around the wire)
Here
Yeah, it's this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L9J4JRG/. I got the smallest one, 1 ft x 5 ft. I would really recommend ordering one of the squeegee smoothing cards also. I didn't have one, so I improvised with a card and it didn't work too well. I bought these for my next attempt: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PNPY5XX.
The one I
used
You could try automotive vinyl. You can get rolls off amazon. 3M makes a matte black one, looks exactly like the top lid on my T450s.
You could also flock it but that's a slightly more permanent solution, and you'd have to make sure that the powder doesn't go where it shouldn't.
[Here is what I have ](http://www.VViVID.com/ XPO Black Snake Skin Leather Vinyl Wrap Roll with Air Release Technology (1ft x 5ft) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FXYD96U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_Nhhh5Yau8axIm)
Click on the amazon link. They have leather thats not snake skin too.
Carbon fiber
It is carbon fiber vinyl wrap. This is what I used:

3M Di-Noc CA-421
Unless you're powder coating, I'd leave calipers alone. The paint never lasts as long as they're advertised to. Besides, the grey/silver calipers look nice even if left stock.
(relatively) inexpensive mods I've done:
https://www.amazon.com/AY-Customs-Windshield-Dampening-Reduction/dp/B07N1DXSH5
RPMTesla makes one too, but costs more and they have less than stellar customer service, according to this sub.
it’s cheap

No prob! Let me know if you need any more help and I'll assist you.
This is the vinyl I got: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007OXCIB0/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Hey folks, just real quick. I want to thank /u/jrey0617 for the inspiration to do this. My Fiancé and I are going with Mass Effect themes for our cars and seeing how he did his made us want to do the same. Also a huge shoutout to my Fiancé for sitting down and applying the vinyl with me.
The Android Head Unit is from Dasaita...or Phoenix, depending on who you order through. They are the same and comes plug and play. I want to start doing some reviews with the head unit because for some reason, it was difficult for me to find someone who owned the product for a year or longer. I finally found one who said they hadn't been having issues, so I took the plunge. As far as reviews go, I'm thinking I'll do the following assuming I still own the product. It'll be a 1 week, 1 month, 6 month, and a 1 year review. Mostly, I'm hoping it'll last that long and the "reviews" will be more of updating my opinion on the device, what features I wish it had, what it had and doesn't work anymore, etc.
Anyways, here is the link to everything I bought. Everything was purchased through Amazon:
Edit:
If anyone is curious on how difficult it is to install the head unit, here is the link to the install video I watched:
Civic Android Head Unit Install
I also want to add that I watched a YouTuber by the name of JDM Panda who had a mini walkthrough on how to change some settings within the Head Unit to get it functioning properly (IE: Music stopped playing when reversing vehicle, unit taking to long to boot up, etc):

So I just pulled the trim off by looking up some YT videos and then took the glossy trim out and then wrapped it with a basic 3M style vinyl wrap (link below). To pull the trim be careful not to pull in a odd angle, can crack or rip out the plastic tabs.
I used a hair dryer to heat up the wrap and then pressed it to the plastic. You can use a heat gun as well if you'd like. I recommend using a wrap that has micro perforations so the air doesn't get trapped easily.
Sorry I took so long to reply :) If you have more questions just let me know! Also it is a 2014 Mazda, so not many videos on this year or later, mainly vids for '13 and earlier.

Next up, chrome surrounding grille. I'm trying to decide between vinyl wrap (nice and cheap) or that all black Fozzy grille I've been seeing on eBay for $199.
I tried painting it first. Looked okay, but not that smooth. I tried applying clear gloss and I guess the paint wasn't dry enough because everything cracked and looked like crap. So I sanded everything off, tried painting once more. It still looked like crap so I sanded everything off again. Many lessons were learned, lots of wasted effort was put forth.
Took about 3 tries per bezel to get it on smoothly. Easiest way was to make sure I had vinyl smoothly attached to surrounding of bezel, then I used a hair dryer to get it hot enough to stretch. I kept pushing the vinyl in the middle until I had enough slack to wrap stuff tight on the inside, then I focused on the outer edge, which was much easier. Cutting a small hole in the middle after some stretching helped, too.
Other hardest part was separating the damn chrome pieces from the black bezel part. Those two pieces are really stuck together. Hard not to break the stupid little tabs.
I'm much happier. The chrome down there was kind of bugging me.

it's vinyl wrap. I took the wheels off. cleaned them with soapy water then wiped them down with isopropyl alcohol. I had a left over roll of 5ft by 1ft and it covered 2 wheels (waiting for another 5x1 to do the other side 😂) I just positioned the wrap over the exposed alloy, stuck it, and cut off the excess. it's not a precise cut, maybe 2-3mm over hang. my though was is it would catch less and stay stuck to the wheel more when I'm mildly off roading. 😊

Do you care about the mirrors? The chrome delete is actually not that hard to do yourself, if you skip the mirrors.
I did a chrome delete with the kit from Amazon and bought carbon fiber mirror caps from RPMTesla and called it a day. <$200

This one is the one I bought, I've used it all though, so I'll probably buy some more. Great stuff though.
Honestly, I think you should have gone with a carbon fiber vinyl wrap.
I guess technically, you still could.
You can find yellow headlight vinyl, normally used to give that euro look but it’ll warm up the lights.
Edit: Amazon Link
I would say using something like a mirror sticker sheet on a cut-to-fit peice of acrylic is likely what they have done.

Best of luck, though. It would be complicated but I'm sure the look in the right build, like the one you showed off, would be killer.

I bought it from amazon, this roll i bought allowed me to screw up completely twice before i got the hang of it. The amount you would need for an entire bike would depend on how much surface you have to cover and also account for messing up a few times.

Also is this the same stuff you used for under your windows?
I got this off amazon for cheap. I have quite a bit left over too.
You can get it on Amazon. The one I used is [this.](http://www.3M.com/ DI-NOC CA-421 BLACK CARBON FIBER 2ft x 1ft (2 sq/ft) Flex Vinyl Wrap https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0062A7M2G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_vF7gAbTENF5WN)
I think this is what I used. I put it on my brights, and I don't think there is that much light lost from it. I actually kinda like how it projects on the road.
Found it. As I was hoping, it comes in three colors. Laminate up with a nice, thin stripe of a different color in the middle and give it an angled bezel. That'd be pretty slick.
You forgot the reindeer antlers! SO SEASONAL.
Or you can buy some carbon fiber "car wrap" for little money on Amazon and do something like that. I am thinking of doing this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FXYDGCM/ref=cm_sw_r_api_Js9ExbQFB3BAM
The one that I bought is currently unavailable on amazon. But I did have some difficulty with application. Id rate the product 7/10. That or I just suck at using it.
Buy whatever has the best and most reviews on amazon.
It's actually really simple! If you get the 3M vinyl wrapping kit it comes with a nice scalpel-like razor blade pen to trim excess. Clean the surface with alcohol, stick it on, press it down, gets the bubbles out, trim, and you're done. It's extremely easy to work with and can be peeled up and stuck back down many times.
Here is the wrap I buy whenever I am wrapping trim. I used plasti-dip for years, but finally started wrapping things instead, and I won't ever go back to plasti-dip.
And thanks!
You could buy black plastic plates and use something like this to make them look like they're made from carbon fiber.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FXYDGCM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Qt6wCb916SJQH
Really nice work!
It's probably a bit easier to use a vinyl wrap or a gun grip. You can find cheap carbon fiber textured vinyl wrap and gun grip on Amazon. I'd recommend gun grip as it's designed to be held with sweaty hands.
I had ordered it from an online store called Auto Vinyl Solutions but it looks like they're no longer around. it looks like Amazon sells it though.
What everyone else is saying is right, with normal wrap material, especially glossy, that would actually make the imperfections in the plastic more noticeable probably. But they do make this carbon fiber wrap material, here is an example on amazon, that stuff is more of a satin finish and the texture of the carbon makes it very effective at hiding imperfections in the material below. And it looks pretty badass too boot, that would work to cover your fairing I think, just not sure if you want your bike to be black carbon fiber.
Also keep in mind, that it will not be easy to do. Especially if this is your first attempt at anything like wrapping or vinyl work. I myself work full time in a vinyl shop and pretty often wrap full vehicles at work, and I wrestled for hours getting the plastic trim pieces on my bike covered in the carbon wrap. It is absolutely doable though, just make sure you clean the fairings well and have a hair dryer handy to help you stretch it around the curves. If you do end up going the wrap route you'll definitely want to take your fairings apart so you can wrap them much easier than trying to do it on the bike. Plus with them off you can leave a little extra wrap around all the edges and wrap it around the edges and stick it to the back, so that no edges will be exposed and possibly start peeling up.

That sounds like a ton of hassle to verify authenticity. And knowing the capacity matches what it should doesn't necessarily mean it's legit. Would be more reasonable to buy from a trusted seller and learn what to look for to spot fakes. This should help

The curing chamber is an open cube used for making shelves that I coated with a roll of vinyl mirror sticker in the inside. I cut a hole in the top and inserted a LED curing lamp. Since the box is made of hollow boards, the top hole is larger and the inside hole is a step for the lamp to rest on. I made a door out of scrap plywood and painted it black and attached it to the box with a piano hinge. Then I lined the edge of the inside of the door with weather stripping and added a magnetic clasp and printed a knob on my form 2. Add in a solar turntable to rotate the parts and you are good to go!
The finishing kit is nice because it contains the mess of cleaning the parts in IPA after you take them off of the build tray.

flaws are not bad...most are little gripes, still best car for the buck. Don't let the small gripes push you away from the car. My 100K Mercedes had a longer list of gripes and so did my $60K BMW. No perfect car in the market, somewhere a manufacturer has to make a concession or will try something that does not work that well.
- Handles inside and outside are a pain to explain to people but I love them now I am familiar.
- Frunk closing feels like you are going to bend the hood and is a fingerprint magnet.
- Trunk no auto close
- Wiper modes do suck, but hopefully, a software update will fix them
- Piano black console - I bought a wrap because it is a dust, fingerprint, and hair magnet. $30 on Amazon and 1 hour to install myself. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FZ7MNFN/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
- Tesla Dashcam feature is not working great, but I bought a $30 dashcam on eBay and installed it in 15 mins with wires hidden. example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1080P-HD-WiFi-Hidden-Car-Vehicle-DVR-Camera-Video-Recorder-Dash-Cam-Night-Vision/122813143365?epid=26009774471&hash=item1c983bd945:rk:1:pf:0
- Cellphone key walkup works 50% of the time and I have to dig my phone out and click unlock. (not really all that bad)
- Delivery. I went through delivery hell. I would say 10% of buyers have gone through delivery hell. If you are unlucky they force you to be an asshole and it sucks. But people I know that had no issues loved the process.
- Make sure you download or print a delivery checklist and spend a good amount of time checking the car out before driving off. My car was flawless, granted they did not remove the shipping protection residue all the wy but made them clean it up while I waited. Other people have had panel gap and paint problems. Don't get lost in the excitement, spend a lot of time inspecting the paint.
- I Owe You. If your car has an I OWE YOU like for wheels, floormats, spoiler etc. just know Tesla is a total shit show of making I OWE YOUs right. I took delivery with wrong wheels and I am coming up on 3 months of "sorry, we do not know when the correct wheels will be here". I have read similar problems with I OWE YOUs. Tesla is not BMW where a I OWE YOU is resolved as fast as humanly possible, Tesla lets them sit in a file somewhere.

Sure thing! It wasn't too difficult, just took some learning. I did a lot of watching tutorials on YouTube and mistakes were made. So first, the items I bought were viynl wrap and chrome edge trim. You don't have to do glossy black and silver chrome, but that's what I chose. A wood grain would look nice if you have a tan interior.
Vinyl: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B007EEU58W/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Chrome trim: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0194BMZEY/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Also helpful! Trim pry tools: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00D7XNQHG/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1
First, take a look on YouTube for videos on removing the radio, because that will tell you how to remove all the trim pieces. Make sure to be VERY careful, the plastic clips can break easily. For the side trim pieces, also look on YouTube or the internet on how to remove those. They'll do a much better job at explaining than I will!
Applying a wrap is fairly easy, it just takes patience and a little bit of skill. I recommend doing easy pieces first before more complex pieces like the vents and top center console panel (which was super hard!). Look on YouTube for tutorials on how to wrap, there are some great videos out there explaining the process. You'll need a heat gun or hair dryer if you want to really do a solid job, as well as a razor. For the vents, I trimmed around the small indent by the opening and carefully cut around the indentation by the wheel that opens and closes them. It's very tricky to do but if you're careful it will look pretty nice.
The Chrome edge trim is pretty easy to do, just shove it into any gaps that you want to line with trim. If you're careful with how much you use, that one pack should cover most of the car. Try not to go too excessive or it will look silly. Some panels will be really hard to force the trim into, so I recommend some sort of smooth tool like the butt of a screwdriver to press it into place.
All in all it took me about 2 days to do all the work, and I had to purchase a new piece of trim from a junkyard because I was careless. Don't rush it, take your time, and make sure you educate yourself as much as you can (YouTube videos/guides)
If you have any questions, let me know! Also, send me a picture of your car if you end up doing it, I'd love to see how it turns out!
I bought This

Yes I would advise you to watch a video tutorial on how to. Would be much better than a written one. Only advice I have is to gather 4 or more friends to help you out. I had one person in each corner of the vinyl and one other person on the heat gun when needed. 5 people help made it easy but still required A LOT of patience. Patience is key!! Also, this is the vinyl I ordered. Gave me plenty of room to work with and also extra for wrapping my mirrors :D http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007P6R78A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

should do the trick. I have been planning on it for a while now but just haven't had the time vs my other projects.

I'm a fucking computer-building noob and I guarantee you I could build this in a day. Some of this carbon fibre vinyl wrap, some strip LEDs and solderless connectors, mounting hardware, and the computer parts is all you would need. Too easy, man. This guy is not only incompetent if it took him 100 hours, but he is definitely not Master Race.
Edit: Forgot to say, the board it's mounted on and the acrylic sheets for backing the hardware. Just buff the acrylic and put the LEDs behind it, makes it glow like that.
You can try buying some black film wrap and wrap it yourself. Shouldn't be too expensive.
