JETech Case for Apple iPad (9.7-Inch, 2018/2017 Model, 6th/5th Generation), Smart Cover Auto Wake/Sleep, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XZH8SKF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_YRH0Db0XGJGFG

u/godelbrot · 14 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

It's a bit on the pricey side at $39.99 USD

but the fact that it's sturdy, allows charging, and takes up so little space that it should fit in pretty much every Switch case to me makes it a winner.

Runner up was the Arkon Folding Tablet Stand much cheaper, but not quite as sturdy, significantly larger (won't fit in most Switch Cases), and would likely require a right-angled USB C cable to charge while in use.

edit

If the price of the Compass V2 throws you off, the original Compass V1 goes for like 15 bucks on Amazon and it's actually slimmer then the V2 but apparently less sturdy.

edit 2

also there is a cheapo version of it for 10 bucks but I can't attest to its quality. Thanks u/doublespoiler and u/soma04 for the tip.

You don't need to swipe apps away from the recent list when you're done with them. The system saves their state to RAM, but it frees it if it is needed for another app. I never bother clearing my recent apps, and I don't notice any slowdowns.

I personally opted to just use my N10 without a case because I wasn't willing to lose that awesome back, and the slim form factor. I did get a [sleeve] ( http://www.amazon.com/V7-Protective-Tablets-10-1-Inch-TD23BLK-GY-2N/dp/B007R3Z5E4/ref=pd_cp_pc_1) for transport and a [foldable tablet stand] ( http://www.amazon.com/Arkon-Portable-Fold-Up-Playbook-IPM-TAB1/dp/B000CKVOOY/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1371221361&sr=1-1&keywords=tablet+stand).

u/SpontaneousLightBulb · 9 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

Looks like on the Samsung store on Amazon it's $19.74.

edit: Amazon Warehouse Deals (returned ones) has them at $14.16 and $14.96 too. But yeah looks like those have options to have them sold and shipped by amazon.com as the seller.

I've got the Logitech Ultrathin keyboard, and I found it works great for notes, but as TrancePhreak stated, the lack of a mouse can be frustrating at times, and it is limited in what else it can do... but on the up side, it's much cheaper, and very small and portable.

u/[deleted] · 7 pointsr/Nexus7

Um. Actually in this case you're paying more for a turd. Your first mistake was buying from Best Buy.

The case I got was only 16 bucks:

Magnetic smart cover, holes for speakers, charger, power button / volume, and audio jack. Works as a stand too.

Somebody on a forum did testing with a few cases and this one, while not pretty, did the trick and had the best temps of multiple cases, even fancier ones. Beforehand my Rpi3 was overheating on high resolution videos, and hasn't had a hitch since.

The downsides for me are dealable - it's open sided which means it might collect a bit more dust, although no issues yet over two months of use. The other is that the fan makes noise. You could likely find a better quality fan that makes less noise if it bothers you.

Usually the volume of what I'm watching drown out the fans - in my household I've generally got fans running or air conditioning or my own desktop rig so fan noise doesn't bother me at all. It doesn't make nasty sounds or very loud at all, just what you'd expect from a small and decenty speedy little fan.

16GB owner. No complaints or problems with mine. After getting a case, and insurance, I would have probably gone back and told myself to get the 8GB one for cheaper all around.

u/poopyheadthrowaway · 5 pointsr/gadgets

If you own a Surface Pro 3, you can pick up a backup stylus from HTC for under $10.

Chromecasts are available for around $20 if you shop around.

Having an extra wireless mouse in your bag is nice.

You can get a cheap slow-cooker or crock-pot for around $20.

Cheap cast-iron skillets are around $20, too.

EDIT: Also, a cheap rice-cooker. I'm typically against unitaskers and I've refused to get one for years, insisting that a pot and stove can do the same thing, but after a friend gave me hers I haven't looked back. It's just so convenient.

Not to sound like a prick, but I’ve typically shied away from the cheap-o $10 cases (I get that the Apple silicone case is overpriced, but it fits super snug and works really well). That said, I rolled the dice on this guy ($15 shipped at this time) and it’s solid.

It’s a bit softer than the Apple case, but still fits snugly and feels like it offers similar protection (I don’t need anything major; I just wanna be able to set it down without scuffing it all up). Holding the Pencil is a nice little bonus.

Fits well with the keyboard (apparently that was an issue with early versions of this guy, but it’s been fixed). Only tiny gripe might be that it’s a bit soft, especially around the thin parts like the speakers, but all in all, it’s great. Absolutely recommend as a replacement for the silicone case and you can keep your Pencil stashed now.

u/13489194 · 5 pointsr/ipad

this is what I ended up getting after wasting money on a "strap"

Works with Smart Keyboard perfectly. I got a more expensive strap that goes around the Smart Keyboard and it's useless compared to this case.

Highly recommend.

u/Maverick916 · 5 pointsr/ipad

Semi related, but i bought this [Zugu Case] (https://www.amazon.com/ZUGU-CASE-Protective-Convenient-Magnetic/dp/B075MXXM6P/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1524152208&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=zugu+case&psc=1) a few months ago, and its excellent. Only case I have used (and i bought and returned a ton of them to test what i liked) that uses magnets to hold it in a firm position, in multiple display modes. Bit expensive, but its the best one ive used.

u/Orbmiser · 5 pointsr/ipad

Going Naked Makes Me Feel Vulnerable! :-)

Just got my 10.5 but have to wait 3 days before I can order one.

Either going full protection ZUGU CASE - iPad Pro 10.5 inch Case Prodigy X but at $60 and additional thickness and bulk may be an issue for me.

Or going lighter with iVAPO iPad Pro 10.5 Case Pencil Holder

Or Fintie iPad Pro 10.5 Case with Built-in Apple Pencil Holder

as much cheaper alternatives and haven't decided yet.

.

u/sparksdls · 5 pointsr/ipad

I got the Zugu Prodigy X that has 8 different angles, each rock solid -

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075MXXM6P

I quit using the ASK and use this case with a lightweight folding Bluetooth keyboard (when needed ) instead.

u/dustofnations · 4 pointsr/bikecommuting

These are great for quick charging: http://www.amazon.co.uk/BlackBerry-Portable-PlayBook-International-Charger/dp/B004XKG7NM

They're high quality 2A chargers but available for a pittance because almost nobody actually bought a BB PlayBook. I use them for my phone principally, and it actually charges faster than the original one it shipped with. Plus, it keeps your USB data ports free.

BTW the device will only draw up to some maximum it supports, so you won't fry it.

u/silent42 · 4 pointsr/Nexus7

I just got this case a few days ago amazon link

I absolutely love it. It can prop the nexus up in landscape mode, has a great leather feel to it, all the ports/microphone holes are designed to fit the nexus 7, and it has the magnetic wake/lock feature. Also good price at around $10

u/grumpy_bob · 4 pointsr/giantbomb

Yup! That's the one. I added an edit in my post for those searching for the best switch stylus in the future. Here's another link to the amazon page.

u/NotDroopy · 4 pointsr/vainglorygame

The people who use thumbs suck no offense I'm just saying it's way easier without thumbs. most people put it on the table and maybe prop it up and use their index fingers. I personally like to use a stylus and hold it but there are many ways. I just recommend not using thumbs

Edit: sarcasm, but who are you sat what's better for who? Because you think using a stylus sucks, doesn't mean they suck or the people who use them suck. Druid uses a stylus and is considered the best laner in the world to many people.

That was a generic tablet holder. They don't need to make a branded one, because there is a thousand already on the market for $20.

Amazon has so many of them it's silly

u/Mayormitch100 · 4 pointsr/ipad

I really like covers and cases from JETech. I have an iPad Pro 10.5 in cover that I bought from them and they started emailing me codes for free Apple Watch bands, and again later a code for a free iPhone X case.

Here is a link for the latest iPad 2017 model. It is only $6.99. I can vouch for their cases they are outstanding!

(I promise I am not a shill for them, just a really happy customer! [which seems silly that I feel the need to say this])

Your overclock is pretty high. Over voltage 6, force turbo and a fan. You shouldn't see the lightning bolt at all. It's either dial your settings down or upgrade the power source.

Something like this might work if you simply replace the included standoff posts with something longer picked up from the hardware store. This would allow extra vertical space for the powerblock. The case does fit the Raspberry Pi 3 even though it doesn't say so in the description.

u/apathycoalition · 3 pointsr/ODroid

It doesn't terribly need a fan, as the heatsink is big enough to keep it at reasonable temps under load as long as you're not putting it in a really tight enclosure.

If you're still set on active cooling buy a case with a fan or 3D print a raspberry pi case with a fan mount.

u/darkbrokenheartz · 3 pointsr/RetroPie

Notability has palm rejection built in, it can be enabled in settings. For a stylus I recommend Adonit Jot Pro Fine Point Precision https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00R33ZYCG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_TDwnzbZP2R2AZ
It's very accurate and no need for bluetooth or charging, not too expensive either

u/iroll20s · 3 pointsr/ipad

If you don't care about bluetooth pressure sensitivity this is the closest. The touch 4 has pressure sensitivity for about $50. Some people don't like the disc, but its the finest point you'll get for cheap.

I’ll have to look it up. The one thing many matte type protectors are notorious for is the rainbow/ moire pattern effect. The tech armor protector has minimal effect to the point that I stopped noticing it after a day of use.

Just started reading reviews of PaperLike and overall it only has a 3 star review out of 12 reviews.

Here is a link to the screen protector I use and am quite pleased with...

It’s actually really nice because it’s soft and bendable - it doesn’t take a lot of force to apply or remove. The pencil stays in really well. It’s grippy but protective and again it works with the keyboard case. I like it a lot.

u/azucenessa · 3 pointsr/stylus

You need a Wacom EMR pen/Samsung S Pen
So you can either purchase one from one of the OEM's like

u/poetryrocksalot · 3 pointsr/stylus

This one actually feels very good in hand.

https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-EJ-PT820BBEGUJ-Galaxy-Stylus-Black/dp/B06WD1GVM3/ref=sr_1_3?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1503799838&sr=1-3&keywords=samsung+pen

If you can order from Fry's Electronics the Wacom stylus is in-stock. But I would rather get the Samsung S-Pen with eraser which is no longer manufactured or being sold. I'd buy that any day over any of the other official Samsung Note compatible pens.

u/digitizerstylus · 3 pointsr/stylus

There's the Staedler pencil which is getting excellent reviews, although I haven't tried it personally. There's the Tab S3 pen which is very good and a little larger than the "toothpick" pens. I personally use a Wacom Bamboo Feel but they don't seem to be available any more for a reasonable price. They were $30-$40, and now they're going for $100-$400...

It's pretty sturdy and also adjustable. Really happy with it so far.

u/M0rbz · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

If you carry it around, I'd get this. A custom usb cable that matches the keyboard would be nice as well.

u/swedishpiehole · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

I got this one from Amazon Japan. But there is another HHKB one available in the US which I also have. The Transporter is good for when I just want to work on a tablet or phone. The other is best for travel when I need to pack cables and a mouse.

u/Schiaparelli · 2 pointsr/femalefashion

I used an iPad for a full semester as my primary carry-around device (stopped only because I started taking design studios where I needed to run Photoshop in class). With a Bluetooth keyboard (I love this Logitech one because it has hard keys and a reasonably proportioned keyboard layout, which is hard to find) + a stylus if you like drawing diagrams or writing notes, I think it's a super nice setup.

I don't find it a distraction just because it's harder to pseudo-multitask and have a bunch of stuff open instead of just focusing on your notes. Basically, if you can control your urge to check a smartphone, you can control your urge to get distracted on an iPad. Using a stylus and writing notes makes it even easier to stay focused, I think.

YOU SHOULD DO IT. #tabletsupremacy #nobackproblems

I'm personally a fan of this one:

Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover Black for iPad 2 and iPad (3rd/4th generation) (920-004013) by Logitech http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007PRHNHO/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_IqyBsb1DC4FA3

Good build quality and a reliable manufacturer that I trust.

u/untilthegameiswon · 2 pointsr/ipad

Is there any chance at all that a Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover that was compatible with iPad 2, 3, and 4 will connect to the 10.5" iPad Pro? It doesn't need to function as a case, necessarily, but just be usable as a Bluetooth keyboard.

Edit to add link to product I'm talking about: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B007PRHNHO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/vohk · 2 pointsr/Surface

I believe any comparable N-Trig stylus will work. Same technology, just like the previous SPs could use any Wacom styluses of the same vintage.

I've seen references to people enjoying this one for example, but I'm sure there's plenty more.

^(

u/tom4pres · 2 pointsr/Surface

I mostly agree with the guy in the video. The biggest issue I've run into is the trying to work in Photoshop without a keyboard. I have a little 8 button on-screen keyboard that I've cobbled together to get me by. The option to remap the pen buttons would help a lot. Apparently that can be done with Auto Hotkey. I'll be looking into it soon.

I've also noticed that I have to press really hard to get a brush at full pressure. The HTC pen somebody posted here last week looks to be a little looser in that regard and I will be checking it out soon. ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008LEKI0O )

There's some lag on strokes. Depending on the brush/brush size/canvas size it can be a little annoying. The Stumpy Pencil brush has some major lag on my desktop when it is set to a large size, so I'm not surprised that it tends to be pretty laggy on the SP3 too.

I use a Cintiq at work, and Yiynova on my Desktop. The SP3 holds up pretty well. It's not perfect but it's pretty good and it's portable.

The battery's good. I wish I had a second charger, but $80 is too steep at the moment. I picked up a bluetooth mouse because I don't like trackpads very much. I have a good size scratch on the back from carrying it around in my bag for less than a week. I have a sleeve now to protect it ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FF5JTH0/ ). I appreciate Windows 8.1 a lot more now.

I use this charger. It's a 3.5A charger, which is the highest amp charger out there that'll work with the surface, so it'll charge a bit faster and more consistantly than the stock charger. I predict it'll also wear the battery faster, but that's a chance I'm willing to take for faster charge times and actually being able to do stuff while it's charging.

Mine is one that works with wacom tablets and all the samsungs that used wacom induction tech.

is the one I have, I don't know what one would be the updated version.

If you search for Galaxy Note stylus they'll work with the pro/plus also. I've tested it with my daughter's old gnote and the gnote 10.1 2014's spen and they both work.

u/realrao · 2 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

The pen might be dead. I had intermittent sensitivity issues on the pen that came with my phone as well. If your troubleshooting comes up empty you could buy a replacement S pen on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B074GB37V7?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title

I bought one a few months ago because of low sensitivity which was, I suspect, caused by a loose connection in the pen. I was a little worried about the authenticity but I can confirm that the one that's "sold by Amazon" is legitimate. I've been using it for a few months and it works better than my old s pen. Comes in the official sealed Samsung packaging too. I got it on sale for $22 but it seems to have gone up to $30, which is still discounted from MSRP. Totally worth it though, if you need a replacement

I bought a refurbished iPad (not pro) a couple years ago and it honestly felt like new, and saves you a couple bucks. So, if you're looking for a budget of $860, which MSRP isn't even the lowest iPad config, your best bet is getting refurbished or using one of the many Black Friday sales. (Also the iPad Pro link doesn't even say specific price, just lists a bunch of sellers, which isn't always be reliable)

Also, I would suggest iCarez instead of Paperlike. Paperlike isn't bad by any means but I definitely feel like since you are under a budget you are better off with something a little cheaper, that offers similar performance. Plus there are plenty of posts on here about matte screen protectors, if you want to find out which is best. And I can't say about the power brick as I don't use one, but the battery life on any iPad Pro is fantastic where I feel you wouldn't even need one.

(and try and link the items a little better than just copying and pasting the link, like how i did with the icarez)

I find it very useful. I've read comics on it, played games on it and more recently I got this stand for it and put it next to my computer to use as a mini Netflix TV. The speaker isn't the greatest but there is an app that allows you to make it louder. Of course you can also do some casual browsing and pretty much anything else you can do with a tablet. I like the size, it's very easy to type with your thumbs in profile mode. Of course at this point there are some other options so it's up to you.

u/drunken__lemur · 1 pointr/gtablet

I use this as a stand and I love it. For a case, I just picked up a cheap, neoprene 10.2" netbook sleeve from Walmart.

But if you're in the market for a case with the stand kinda like the Ipad Smart Cover thing, then check out electroniccrap.com. The iPad is widely regarded as a far superior tablet to others in its size. Also, the dockable keyboard is not a reason to buy the Eee Pad Transformer (which is still a great product btw, just not as good as the iPad) when products like this exist for less. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007PRHNHO/ref=asc_df_B007PRHNHO2091290?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395093&creativeASIN=B007PRHNHO&hvpos=1o1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9993830511604379369&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=

Furthermore, Microsoft Surface has neither a release date nor a price set, so someone in the market for a tablet who knows little enough about the market to require outside input on their purchase should not be concerned with Surface, although admittedly it does look very cool. While there is certainly competition in the tablet market, outside of product cost, it is not yet competitive.

u/_nimue · 1 pointr/writing

Can I ask what app(s) you use with your iPad for writing? I've been trying to adapt my tablet to replace my netbook, but so far it's been a terrible experience. I do like the keyboard cover I got for it though- much easier than using the screen.

u/pointui · 1 pointr/ipad
  1. Do you like Zite more than Flipboard?

  2. Also, since you use your keyboard so much, thought you might like the Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard. Definitely pricey but I think it's the best looking one out there and makes it look like a laptop. It's a keyboard cover, similar to the style the Windows slate received hype about. Maybe it's easier than carrying your Origami keyboard separately?
u/flosofl · 1 pointr/ipad

I have a bunch of cases including the new Smartcase. I don't like it. I don't like how the edges flare out from the iPad. I still rotate it in to see if I may get accustomed, but so far it doesn't last more than a day before I swap it out.

My current go to case is this one. I like it because a) it's leather and b)it'svery snug.

I've been using this Logitech keyboard a bit, but when I don't need it I toss the Toblino on.

u/seveneightn9ne · 1 pointr/Nexus7
u/Chezzabe · 1 pointr/Nexus7

I think because they just want to try as sell as many as they can to new potential customers with the new 7. The normal price is around $15... so long story short the old version just isn't on sale.
Edit: If you are looking for a cheaper 2012 case I bought this one last November and it has held up extreamly well for somthing that was only $10 dollars. The feel of it is like real leather and it has not shown the least bit of wear on it. It fit like a glove and was not overly bulky and I can't tell you how many times I dropped my 7 in it and it always protected it well.
The only downside is when I first got it for a good day or so it has a extremely strong chemical type smell. After that it was smooth sailing and I would buy it again if I had to.

This pen apparently works with the SP3 according to one reviewer. It also requires a AAAA battery. Also if you are worried about the battery dying they are like $1 each.

u/blastcat4 · 1 pointr/Surface

If the SP3 pen is too soft for you, you can get this:

http://www.amazon.ca/dp/B008LEKI0O/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=27O8Z602HE9FN&coliid=ILGP8JZP8Z8MD

It will work with your SP3 and has a hard pen tip that will not wear out nearly as fast as the SP3's pen. Its super cheap price makes it a great back-up pen, but it doesn't have the button on top to activate OneNote.

u/bipolarsandwich · 1 pointr/Surface

I'm not positive exactly what you mean, but I've been using this pen for a week or so, and it works basically the same way the original pen does (the only thing different is that it doesn't have the button on the back that launches OneNote). There wasn't any setup required for me - i.e. I literally popped in the battery and began drawing and writing straightaway.

Main differences:

  1. The tip is a bit harder, which I think is good, as my SP3 stylus's nib began to wear down after a month of use.
  2. The stylus itself is shorter and doesn't have that 'clip' part.
  3. Again, no OneNote button.

    Hope that helps!

im using this one i dont know much about heat transfer or if it insulates badly, i dont do much cpu intensive stuff, but the inside of it is a plastic hard case, and the outterside is leather. and since it uses sp3's kickstand, when its opened, basically half of the surface is uncovered so i assume can still leak out there. theres also holes at the top of the case to allow the vents to spit out air too, so its not covered.

This one looks decent. I've been looking for such a case since I dont/cant have microsoft complete and I dont have any support from microsoft in my country. This one looks promising.

u/silly22 · 1 pointr/Surface

I dropped my Surface while it was in one of these folio cases: MoKo Ultra Slim Lightweight Smart-shell Cover Case from a height of about 3 ft. at the airport and it survived... maybe just lucky though. It's one of few case designs that integrates the kickstand into the bottom section of its back allowing full articulation. May be worth ordering two at the current price because after 7 months one of the plastic tabs broke.

So I decided to try a different style case from Moko that doesn't really allow the use of the surface kickstand, but has stronger tabs: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KGOB3SI?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00. It weighs almost the same, maybe a few grams more than the one that integrates the kickstand.

Currently using this case. Not too heavy, but it gives it lots of protection. I cycle to university, and this case has protected my SP3 for the better part of 2 months. Has a pen holder on the top as well. Lots of colour options too.

u/EpicWolverine · 1 pointr/Surface

If you want something really rugged and don't mind losing the native kickstand, get one of the cases others have recommended like the UAG. If you'd like to keep the native kickstand, this is the only case I've found that does it right. I use the keyboard cover too (which will also protect the screen if you don't already have that), so I sliced off the cover part of that case, leaving just the back, and it works wonderfully.

u/Epsilon61 · 1 pointr/RetroPie

Depends on how hot your environment gets. Right now mine is overclocked and I haven't seen the little indicator for overheating yet during extended PSX gameplay. Right now my pi only has the cheap little heatsinks from the Vilros Kit.

However during the summer I'll have to upgrade to active cooling.

Personally I'm planning on getting this case JBtek - Amazon

u/isanyonekeepingtrack · 1 pointr/raspberry_pi

How good is your 3D printer? If you need access to the GPIO just grab your rotary tool of choice and cut a hole in it. I've switch to using this case with nice Sunon 5V fans over the JBtek one.

Otherwise there's the good old JBtek Clear Acrylic case. Granted you'll need to immediately buy some replacement 5V fans because the ones it comes with suck and will die within a week.

u/Sadistic_Sponge · 1 pointr/RetroPie

https://www.amazon.com/BIQU-Aluminum-Raspberry-Case-Enclosure/dp/B01H8L4EM8 This guy is good, but it blocks bluetooth so you may want a dongle. I hear good things about the FLIRC, too. if you want a fan check this on, though I hear it is loud: https://www.amazon.com/JBtek-Transparent-Acrylic-Raspberry-External/dp/B00M859PA6/

Make sure to pack in some thermal grease if you get a case that comes into contact with the board.

u/EtherBoo · 1 pointr/emulation

Just to clear a few things up.

> Im glad you cleared that up for me about the other SBCs. I was wondering if the other brands would be better at handling the systems the pi doesn't handle well.

Interestingly enough - ETA Prime (YouTuber) just posted a video about the MiQi SBC. It seems to be running N64 pretty nicely and he says he's going to be putting up a video soon about the MiQi and systems the Pi doesn't do very well. So while the support may not be there, it might be worth looking into, just understand that you're going to have less support for the systems you're interested in.

It might also be worth waiting for the Raspberry Pi 4, which my guess will be out within the next 3-6 months (nobody really knows when it will be out). It should have better specs and be able to handle something like N64 a little better due to better a stronger CPU. N64 development is something that is actively worked on for the Raspberry Pi where something like Dreamcast Emulation appears to be dead in the water (for example, the bug with date/time needing to be entered when loading every ROM was identified a while ago, but remains unfixed even though the fix has been identified; I'd do it myself if I knew how to code).

> So now I'm totally sold on the Pi3 and I'm chomping at the bit to place an order, but I'm still hung up on what to order with it.

The Cananakit is the most popular option. I ended up going for the basic and ordering a separate 128 GB card (but you can also get 256 GB if you're feeling like you could fill it up). The kit comes with a case, power supply, heat sinks. There are better cases you can buy, but this is a good all-in-one type price.

> I can't seem to find a clear small form factor case that has space in it for HDD AND has a cooling fan.

You're not going to want to put a HDD in it. They can add heat and the last thing you want is to add heat to this. They can already get a little hot. If you want a HDD attached, your best bet is to do it via USB. I know you don't like the idea of an external, but it's honestly the best way to go if you really want a hard drive attached. Here's an option I did find with a hard drive though, but I think you're risking overheating with this type of application:

Here are a few cases with fans attached:
Zebra Virtue, JBtek Transparent Acrylic Raspberry Pi B+ / Raspberry Pi 2 Case with External Fan (I might actually buy this one for myself), Eleduino 2015 New Version Raspberry Pi 2 mode B Transparent Acrylic Case With Fan Black.

> I have a decent gaming laptop. Could I use that to host the steam program?

You can't say you have a decent gaming laptop and not know what Steam is.

Steam supports streaming to just about any PC. There's two caveats to this though. First, you need to be hard wired. A laptop is normally wireless just because of the platform type. Second, you can't use the PC while it's streaming. You can go to the PC being streamed from and actually watch what's being played and even interfere with the game being played/streamed.

> Would having a separate account solve the problem of having an over crowded steam library?

Sort of. Again, the NES, SNES, and Genesis complete sets will run over 2k games easily (I have something like 1100 in my NES folder for Japanese only games that I included; the full US NES set is like ~700 or so.). That gets crowded, fast. Even viewing a single system with over 100 games gets crowded. Now Steam uses a flat view, so unless you split up everything manually, it's still going to get crowded.

I started to set this up and I don't recommend it unless it's for your favorite games and I'd limit it to about 10-20 per system. I'd use the Pi for a catch all for everything else.

> Another reason I want to shy away from just having a regular Pc for emulation is I want my kids to be able to play the games but I don't want them on my computer... this hosting thing seems like a great solution.

Again, Steam Link won't really help with that since they'll be able to access the computer. What don't you want them to be able to access? You should be able to block most of that with user account access. For about $500 or so, you can build a PC that should run everything up to the Wii. Hook it up to the TV and they won't be able to really do much else.

Ooh that's really affordable to try out! I heard this one is good, but not willing to take the plunge yet either. https://www.amazon.ca/Adonit-Android-Samsung-Windows-Tablets/dp/B00R33ZYCG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1469144989&sr=8-1&keywords=adonit+jot+pro I wish Android devices had fancy styli like the other brands.

u/Streetluxury_amg · 1 pointr/Hewlett_Packard

for anyone looking for a good capacitive stylus for the 13-w0xx variant, I will recommend the adonit jot pro or the adonit jot mini or any other disc type stylus I believe would work. I have been looking for a good stylus and this is what worked best for me (I personally bought the silver adonit jot pro mini to match the laptop) . After all the research I have done (someone please correct me if I am wrong because if so I will buy one immediately), there are no compatible active stylus for this model.

I really like the Adonit ones.

As much as the extra price stings, i'd recommend the adonit jot pro over the MEKO ones, because it's not that much more expensive either. I've got both, the MEKO and the jot pro, and the jot pro is much better. The MEKO uses a plastic shaft that gives you a mushy feeling when writing, the adonit uses a metallic shaft directly connected to the disc. Both have replaceable tips. I use my jot pro to take notes in classes on my iPad mini and it's very comfortable and precise. Plus, it feels really good in the hand, it has a nice weight to it.

I got the Butterfox carrying case. Sturdy, holds 19 games, and a pocket for accessories. Great case for a great price.

If you want to use the Switch in tabletop mode, definitely go for the Hori Playstand. The Switch's built-in kickstand has several issues: it's flimsy, blocks the charging port when set up and only has one viewing angle. The Playstand fixes all of those things and yes, it does fit in the Butterfox case's accessories pouch.

If you want to be playing it in the car, you'll want a car charger. I personally got the PowerA charger. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but it is officially licensed by Nintendo. I also got this car mount; just make sure you put the Switch into it in such a way that you don't block the holes on the back. Those are not speakers, they're air intakes and you never want to block them while the system is running (you're fine in sleep mode).

I've used this on 12 hour car rides and it has worked awesome!!!

I bought the [Tech Armor] (https://www.amazon.com/Protector-Tech-Armor-Anti-Glare-Anti-Fingerprint/dp/B016B12TSW) brand. It's anti-glare and protects from the potential scratches by the pencil, but most of all the matte finish feels excellent with the Pencil. It's not quite a paper texture, but it's a lot smoother and less awkward than drawing straight on the glass.

u/Blodoern · 1 pointr/ipad

One screen protector i've been looking at is the Tech Armor:
http://www.amazon.com/Protector-Tech-Armor-Anti-Glare-Anti-Fingerprint/dp/B016B12TSW

Judging by the reviews it does seem like a very good candidate. Has anyone here tried it?

u/sub30 · 1 pointr/ipad

I got the Tech Armor matte (https://www.amazon.com/Tech-Armor-Anti-Glare-Anti-Fingerprint-Protectors/dp/B016B12TSW) mostly because you got 2 for $10, and I fully expected to mess up (and, of course, is didn't). This is for the 12.9" but same difference. It's good... It's a lot granier than I remember but it feels good with the pencil.

u/artaru · 1 pointr/ipad

Sure, it was this one. Do note that's for the bigger iPad pro.

u/Dawkins20 · 1 pointr/ipad

I went with this on my first gen and I just bought them again for the second. They really help with the pencil. They give it a little bite so it's no so slippery.

Just installed one of these yesterday and I'm loving it so far. Cuts down on glare and fingerprints and makes drawing and writing with the pen feel more like pen and paper. Take your time installing (I used the tape-hinge method). There's even dust removal tape in the package which worked awesome as I was slowly lowering the film down.

I went for the Lumos for the pen holder and handy hole for storing the cap when charging

I’m pretty happy with it.

u/baubleclaw · 1 pointr/ipad

I got a cheap-ass case from Poetic on Amazon to start with.

Then I decided I needed the Smart Keyboard, so I have ordered one of these to go on the back and hold my pencil.

There are some EMR styluses that Wacom makes (after all Samsung used their EMR pannel in the v2 plus) . The ones I've seen recommended are the S-pens for the Tab S4 or the Tab S3.

Also these posts are from a while ago, but talk more about compatibility with the plus v1. I can confirm that the plus v2 works with the v1 stylus so you should be good!

u/witheringintuition · 1 pointr/Surface

You can use pens from the old Thinkpad series.

x61 and so on, till I think the x201 The technology is called Wacom EMR.

Older Fujitsu pens work.

Samsung Note Pens work too.

Staedtler makes a 'Pencil' pen that works too.

Wow, they're finally adding Android snap? This makes me almost want to switch channels over to beta, but I'm sure it'll come to my CB soon. That functionality was really one of my biggest complaints and that'll allow me to park the monitor at school most of the time once it goes stable for me. If Chrome ever gets full MS office it'll easily be king of the options for students imo, but considering we got the android app unlocked <1 year ago I won't hold my breath.

I did look at that pencil and was really excited about it, but I shied away after a couple of the reviews mentioned it breaking or falling apart on them. I ended up getting the S pen for the Galaxy Book S, which is also a really great option in case you ever want an alternative too.

u/Neuroneuroneuro · 1 pointr/ipad

Rather than having a case that includes a holder (still a bit hard to find for the new 2018 non-pro iPad), I went with separate case + holder and got two very cheap things.

This case which is actually pretty thin and nice (magnets work, good texture at the back) :

https://www.amazon.com/JETech-Apple-9-7-Inch-Model-Smart/dp/B06XZH8SKF/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1525258417&sr=8-1&keywords=jtech+ipad+case

And this holder that I can fix on the case flap without causing any functionality problem:

Look at this one ZUGU CASE - 2019 iPad Air 3.](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075MXXM6P?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share)
I can not recommend this case more. I bought it because it had a pencil holder and I will never go back. It’s a little expensive but the build is great. And no I’m not associated or anything

u/bckrupps40 · 1 pointr/ipad

The Zugu case is outstanding. Probably the best case i ever used on a tablet. I suggest buying like new off Amazon to save $10. Mine looked like it's never been used.

I've ordered this after seeing this brand get good reviews from past iPad users who are also looking for the feel of paper.

This will be my first iPad and pencil combo but I've played with the pencil in stores before. The plain screen is too smooth and slick for my tastes, and I've had good matte phone screen protectors before. Hopefully it will indeed do the trick.

I purchased this screen protector for mine. I used the same brand on my 10.5" and it felt very smooth and did a great job preventing smudges/fingerprints. It does add a grainy texture to the picture though.

I have a matte screen protector from amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GZMMYHT/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1.
The first one they sent blocked Face ID but they sent a replacement quickly once the production problem was discovered.
I love the matte feel especially while using the pencil. But there is a hit to the display quality. I’ve seen a lot of advertising for “paperlike” on YouTube videos does anyone know if that brand has been able to minimize the affect on the display.

I got the leather case linked in the sidebar and it does the magic on/off when opened. What more do you want?

Those two are both active and N-trig based.

Also, if you can get hold of Sony's active pen, it's what I use, but it seems they don't make them anymore.
