Some pens are just better than others. I'd recommend the Zebra F-301. You can pick up a 2-pack at an office supply store or Walmart for about $3.00. These pens will motherfucking write any time you need them. I've used them outdoors for years. It doesn't matter if the paper's soggy (though the ink will bleed), or even hard frozen at -50. It's going to work. Stop wasting a quarter on a crappy pen and get one that's going to last until it runs dry.
I'll interpret "guy stuff" as "EDC stuff".
Bonus item: This isn't under $30, but $45 wil buy you a Leatherman Skeletool, which is one of the most universally useful items I own.
Edit: "EDC" stands for Every Day Carry. To paraphrase the /r/EDC sidebar, EDC means the essentials that I carry a daily basis. Things that I either use every day, or want to have with me in case I might need them. Sorry for the confusion, /u/ForgottenEcho and /u/Sanctitas.
I challenge you to find something more permanent (and less potentially dangerous) then your plastic Bic downstem.
Zebra makes a 501 pen that's stainless steel body, in case you want to continue using pens

If you want to do this
Man I know this isn't your question but I can't remember the last time I used a wrist band, hell, I don't think I've seen a professional use a wristband in the past 10 years.
Personally, with components being more much resistant to static discharge, I don't think it's necessary, I handle bare components all the time and have never had an issue.
but if you're intent on being extra careful, or you're working with sensitive components you can clip it to your case, the hard drive rack, the metal frame, just about anywhere that's metal, it needn't be bare metal either, the painted metal will do just fine, all the electricity is looking for is a place to run to, and trust me, the painted metal in your case is plenty conductive enough for that.
Some people will buy anti-static mats that have a little metal clip for your wristband, like this:
http://smile.amazon.com/StarTech-com-24x27-5-Inch-Desktop-Anti-Static-M3013/dp/B00009XT3H?sa-no-redirect=1
If you want to be extra-paranoid-super-careful, I'd do that.

Zebra F301, cheap, no smear, fine point

I have a nice selection of fountain pens, and they're lovely. I enjoy using them immensely, and they make great gifts! Perhaps you should show her the price range of higher end fountain pens?! Watch her head explode. Good thing you like fountain pens, and not high-end automatic (mechanical) watches!!
If you haven't used a fountain pen before, you want something inexpensive and disposable to try out, the Pilot Varsity fountain pens are actually quite good (and cheap):
https://www.amazon.com/Pilot-Varsity-Fountain-Assorted-90029/dp/B00092PRCA/ref=sr_1_4
For something a little nicer looking (but still really inexpensive), check out the JinHao fountain pens (China). Here's an older review: http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/131552-jinhao-x750-review/
Just keep in mind that you do need to clean out the ink periodically, and you definitely want to clean them out if you're not going to use them for a while.
The JinHao fountain pens are sold on eBay. Here are two examples:

rightwrite answer. If you are that worried, just measure distance and time manually and record it in a notepad.
That's what people did ten years ago and it worked fine. Except for the guy that posted his mom's training log from the '80s a couple days ago.
Wow, this is such a perfect fit for OPs requests:

\> The ink had to dry within five seconds and be guaranteed not to smear or blot. Printed on paper, the ink had to withstand being submerged underwater for 48 hours and two doses of chemical bleach.
\> the pen’s unusually slight size — 5 and 1/8 inches long

I use a two wallet system.
There just isn't(or haven't found) a wallet that will hold all 13 of my active cards without being bulky.
So I have this for mass storage, 19 cards, two pockets for cash/MO.

And this for the 3-4 I'm using at the time.

Looks like a cable that goes on an anti static mat to ground yourself. So you don’t shock an electrical component like a circuit board on a computer.

That's really cool that you're trying to share the hobby with your co-worker. Unfortunately, I'm not sure about sites for used fountain pens, (maybe check out r/Pen_Swap), but I have a few suggestions for cheaper pens:
I hope this helps!
A quality mechanical pencil. I recommend the Pentel Sharp Kerry ($14 on amazon). Makes writing so much more pleasant.
For Arkham, we use these. I'm not sure if we could even properly play the bloody game without them, short of putting cards on the floor.
It's neat but it reminded me of this reusable notebook and pens you can buy for $25 on Amazon right now
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GU6TINM
https://youtu.be/U9Kas8l38Kc
Gets good reviews but I've never tried it. Ad copy says it can be used 5 times but reviewers have said they've gotten 14 uses.
Using 1 notebook seems better than using a stack of 14 and doesn't look like it would require more resources to produce. Although if you cary a smartphone I guess it's still a waste of resources if we want to go all the way down that rabbit hole.
For those looking to organize their sock drawers a bit better, I've been very happy with this holder: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UBNWLB2
The only downside is that it doesn't have any tabs or anything for quickly turning to a particular "group" of cards, so I just used some sticky notes. It has a great feel to it after it's loaded up and I'll probably need a second one real soon now.

I'm a huge fan of the Pentel Sharp Kerry. I have had one for over 20 years (back when it was called the 5) and it has held up and performed beautifully. You won't find another pencil with a cap, either.

I like this 90 card holder - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UBNWLB2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
Edit: As others have pointed out, this one is quite large when filled with cards - definitely storage sized, not pocket sized. :)
That table looks fantastic (bonus points for the cute kitten)!
Did you just have the wood laying around/in your yard, or did you buy something for the project?
As a few others have alluded to (some less helpful than others), it's generally not the best idea to have your speakers on the same surface as the turntable unless you have some sort of isolation pads. It can cause unwanted resonance and distortion. Especially because the LP60 is already not the best tracking table out there, it may be something you want to consider when you have the time/funds. I like these for isolation if you're keen to keep the speakers on the table.
But seriously, great work on that woodwork!
Mine didn't come until college. I was in school for engineering, and up until that point I'd been just using whatever was handy for notes - composition books, standard-issue spiral bound notebooks, loose-leaf paper in binders. None of it really did it for me.
And then, for my chemistry class, we had to all purchase the ubiquitous lab notebook. What a concept! What an amazing thing! It's... a book, man, like y'know? A book. Cool!
So then, after that gateway notebook, I got myself a Moleskin (back when they didn't suck so much) and went through that, and stuck with using them on and off through the years.
However it was my discovery of Field Notes, and then the pocket notebooks concept in whole, that really got me started down this path. I went from a user to a collector, a snob, and an evangelist.
Welcome to the addiction. My name is Tim. We have a good time around here.
Calm down guys.......
List:
So in my mind, the basics of an EDC are a knife, a flashlight, a pen, and a notebook. Depending on your preference/level of preparedness, though, multitools are great, a gun is convenient if you're in a dangerous place with any regularity, and a first-aid kit can literally be a lifesaver.
So for the basics I'd recommend:
Knife: a Kershaw Leek or Scrambler. The Leek is smaller, more discreet, very light, and razor sharp. The Scrambler is considerably more robust, has a longer blade (3.5" vs. 3"), but weighs more as well. Both can be found in Kershaw's "Blackwash" finish, which I like both for the feel and for the added rust and scratch resistance. Both are also spring-assisted, which is legal in a lot of places, but check your local laws before carrying either in public. If you can't carry them, take a look at the Cold Steel Voyager. It comes in several lengths, is legal in California, and is very durable, if not super comfortable.
Flashlights: Oh my god, the flashlights. LEDs have become so cheap and so bright over the last few years that it's actually pretty hard to go wrong. Nitecore is currently my favorite brand, but Fenix has some options as well. I would urge you not to buy a surefire; they are undeniably great lights, but unless you expect to encounter truly extraordinary circumstances on a regular basis (any chance your light could fall under a tank or a bulldozer? maybe surefire is for you), they tend to be somewhat more pricey per lumen than a number of other companies. For EDC, the Fenix PD35 2014 edition is almost unmatched. Almost a thousand lumens, takes rechargeable batteries, and small enough to drop into the front pocket of your jeans, if you don't want to use the included clip or holster. If you'd like something more keychain sized, the Nitecore SENS series comes in several sizes and battery types, and automatically adjusts the brightness of the beam based on the light's orientation. Aim it at your feet and you get a soft glow; aim it off into the woods and it grows steadily brighter.
Let's be honest, a pen is going to get lost. The best pen is one you like enough to keep track of, but one you won't miss too terribly should some co-worker walk off with it. I like the Zebra F-301. Writes smooth, classic stainless steel good looks, and comes in RGB & Black. Notebooks depend entirely on personal preference too, but the smallest Moleskine is easily pocketable and has 32 lined pages.
In my mind, there is only one name in multitools. Leatherman has a kick-ass reputation, a 25-year warranty, and a plethora of tools to suit any need. For the casual EDC, I'd go with what I believe is the second-lightest full size tool, the Skeletool. 7 functions include a knife that opens while the rest of the tool is closed, the ubiquitous pliers/wirecutters, two double-sided bits and a driver; and it looks so. freakin. cool.
I dunno much about guns except that of all the things I've listed, a pistol should be the one you consider most carefully, especially whether you need it or not. It's a big investment and a bit of a lifestyle adjustment if you decide to go CCW. I've always heard 9mm and up, so use that as a jumping-off point.
First aid kits are useless unless they're both small enough to be carried anywhere and large enough to contain anything you might need. Making your own is a good idea because you have the best knowledge of your environment, but I found a couple on Amazon which seem to have most of the basics without too much fluff or bulk. The first could be stuffed in a jacket pocket, whereas the second would be useful in a car.
I hope I helped. Good luck!

I know you said other than quick-drying ink, but I can't suggest the Uniball Jetstream RT highly enough, they're inexpensive and I've never had any problems with smudging with them.
By far the best pen I have EVER written with is the Uni-Ball Jetstream. So incredibly smooth and comfortable, the first time I used one I literally looked it up and saved it to my Amazon profile so I would always be able to get them. I prefer 0.7 which it surprisingly not that thin but they also sell them in 1.0
Skilcraft ballpoints were my favorite when I was in the Army. Made by the blind! Wrote great, despite being super cheaply made and kinda scratchy.
edit: they not only still make them, you can buy them on amazon. Sweet!

I love engineering paper. I must have 20 pads of the stuff floating around between my apartment, office, and the 5 or so labs. I hated having to use it in undergrad, but it's just so goddamn handy that I ended up getting addicted to it. 1" and 0.2" grid lines, and a nice header space.
I'm also addicted to these things for research work that needs to be properly documented in a bound notebook. I know it's not much different than a standard composition notebook, but the heavyweight paper and cover are durable and just generally awesome.
http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00007LV4B/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Big enough that you can glue whole pages in there. Gridded, numbered pages, very professional. And not very pricey.
There are tons of great options, the Parker Jotter I can definitely recommend. I've never had any leakage issues with the stock ink cartridge it came with but I also normally switch it out for a Fisher Space Pen refill.
Other good metal pens that aren't too expensive might be a Cross Click which is my current edc with a Fisher Space Pen refill in it which is great for signing receipts and quick things like that. I use it at work to give to customers to sign their receipts.. I like it because it is skinnier than the Parker Jotter, however, it is easier to accidentally click in your pocket whereas with the Jotter you have to use an intentional amount of force to click it.
Another one (or two) would be the Fisher Bullet Space Pen or the Cap-O-Matic Space Pen. The bullet is really quite compact and the Cap-O-Matic is a regular sized pen.
And if you're really worried about ink leakage in your pocket then you can get something like a Lamy Swift which has a mechanism so that when the tip of the pen is extended, the pocket clip retracts which makes it impossible to clip onto your pocket. One thing to keep in mind with the Lamy Swift is that it comes with a rollerball refill which is incredibly smooth but it puts out more ink than a regular ballpoint so it has a longer drying time and can smear on receipt paper.

What ben got for Christmas
Label Maker?
Allow me to blow your mind, they now have erasable pens, and yes they do actually erase!
So I have always taken great pride in not letting churning impact what I buy, but unfortunately yesterday I broke my rule and let the hobby directly impact a purchase. With 40 new credit and debit cards in the ~6 months since I have started, and 3 more in the mail and on their way to me, it has become a bit unruly to just toss them in a drawer. What time and day does churners anonymous meet again? I think I am ready to admit I have a problem...
I know exactly what you're talking about because my brother has one, and I can't remember what it's called either! Let's see what Google turns up...
Edit: Rocketbook!
I used to mark my sheet music with pencil, and I use a lot of markings indeed.
Now i use erasable frixion gel pens, and they come in different colors so now I can color code my notes. It’s super handy! Best thing is these pens are erasable so once I don’t need the notes i just erase them and don’t have to worry about marring my books. Best invention ever.

My boyfriend got me a nameplate for my desk and a stamp that says my name (for stamping my classroom library, their assignment notebooks, etc.). He also got me a bunch of stamps for grading. Ones that say wonderful and sign here. I use those all of the time. Special grading pens are nice. I have these friction pens. They're the besssst!!

Welcome my friend, my only real advice is don't let it become an obsession, at the end if the day, the lead you choose has a far larger impact on your writing enjoyment. Getting that out of the way, I highly recommend the pentel kerry. It has the unique design of being a capped mechanical pencil which makes it completely pocket safe yet has a fixed sleeve so there is no tip wobble when being used. I find that for everyday use, 0.5 mm lead in grade B (which is slightly softer then the common HB (aka #2) grade) is a solid choice because it puts down a slightly darker line. I have had my Kerry for 11 years now and I had to get it repaired once due to my own fault. Pentel repaired it free of cost in one week.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0006SW6YO?pc_redir=1412262079&robot_redir=1
I also suggest a Lamy Scribble if you prefer 0.7 mm lead size. It has a great feel to it, though is slightly thicker than the Kerry. There is something special about the scribble that just makes you want to pick it up and start writing with it. I will say that I do find lead breakage in the advance mechanism of the scribble more often than the Kerry.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00118Z0BY/ref=pd_aw_sims_4?pi=SL500_SS115&simLd=1
Both are great pencils and you can't go wrong with either of them for everyday use.
Let me know if you have any questions, I would be glad to recommend some others if neither of those fit your fancy.
We bought a couple of those business card holders that have tiered multiple slots for cards for use in saving table space with games that have lots of decks, like Arkham Horror and Firefly.

here ya go boss, #1 tool.
You need a label maker! I swatched all my polishes last year, and I started with a sharpie but found it had a tendency to fade. I got an inexpensive little label maker off Amazon, and it made a big difference.
Get some isolation pads, that’ll tighten up the bass. Also, unless you are using the desk while listening, move the speakers closer to the front.
In that case it might interest you to know that Pentel Kerries are on sale half off on Amazon right now!
If you don't need a metal body I recommend one of these.

I carry this, a Fisher space pen, and a Kaweco Lilliput. They are all very close in size with the Kerry being a little longer when capped.
I bought this pencil approximately 32 years ago. Still works fine.

to clarify, I was asking about felt tip pens similar to this paper mate specifically, not pens in general.
but i usually write with [whatever] or, if i have one with me, a Parker Jotter in stainless steel (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0017D5WXY) which is not comfortable to write with, but is my favorite pen because it was used by Boris in Goldeneye :)
1: KNIFE OPTIONS
Take a look at some of Ruike's offerings. They're available on Amazon. The P801 is right in line with your budget at $30 and it is a spectacular knife for the price: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06X9S3947/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1519959816&sr=8-5&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=keysmart&dpPl=1&dpID=417boF2rKtL&ref=plSrch&th=1&psc=1
As far as steels go, 8cr13mov is fine. Clearly if you've been carrying a $4 Walmart knife you aren't one of the few people who really needs a great steel in a knife and 8cr13mov is heaps better than anything on a $4 Walmart knife. If you do want a steel that's a little nicer but still in your price range, 14c28n is great. It's what Ruike uses in their knives.
2: KEYCHAIN RECOMMENDATIONS
You could kill 2 birds with one stone if you pick up a key organizer like this Keysmart Lite: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06X9S3947/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1519959816&sr=8-5&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=keysmart&dpPl=1&dpID=417boF2rKtL&ref=plSrch&th=1&psc=1
It will hold all of your keys together without jingling around and if you get the red version it will be nice and easy to see.
3: PEN RECOMMENDATIONS
The Parker jotter is a classic and you might be able to put Pilot G2 refills in it: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0017D5WXY/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1519960055&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=parker+jotter&dpPl=1&dpID=21BhP8zNBiL&ref=plSrch
4: ORGANIZATION RECOMMENDATIONS
Pocket clips are the key my friend. I carry 9 items in my 4 jeans pockets. I keep 1-2 items clipped to the outside edge of each pocket (and 1 item down in the pocket. Nothing ever rubs together and each item can be removed with one hand without having to move anything out of the way first.
CRPG will help with timing and tactics, although the speed of combat may be different than in NW. It uses your browser to keep track of your stats and items... at least it did back when I played.
Honestly, the best upgrade for me was buying a mouse surface. I had a crappy old mousepad and my mouse couldn't move that quickly on it, and now I have one of these http://www.amazon.com/3M-Precise-Optical-Mousing-MP200PS/dp/B0017D5Z40/

I've always been a fan of Zebra F-301 pens (and mechanical pencils).

Fellow lefty here - my favorite everyday writing pens are Uniball Jetstream 0.7. They are the only pens I have ever a) not lost and b) used up all they way. I'm obsessed.

It's a Skillcraft US Govnernment Pen. I probably would never buy them (I get them free from work) but having used them for my entire career, I can say they are one of the most reliable pens in existence. They can write almost an entire mile (what a weird metric for a pen, right?), can be used in an emergency tracheotomy, and several of its features are standard lengths for things like measuring nautical map distances.
I use these. They are the best pens ever made.

I carry a Radix One Slim. I currently carry 4 cards, an ID, and a little bit of cash. cheap, small, but pulling cards out gracefully takes a little getting used to. the other downside is that you need to fold your cash, but the R1 Slim is freaking small. been carrying this for a little over 6 months and I love it.
I can't remember if I bought it from Amazon or directly from their website.
http://radixproducts.bigcartel.com/product/radix-one-slim-wallet-smoke-black
I use this for long-term storage and it gets linked in this sub as a storage "binder" kind of often.

I've been struggling with this, too, and have bought every recommended item on this sub so far over the past year. This one is the best for storage, though you will need a second one quicker than some of the others.
Yo, you should get this mouse pad instead.
It's awesome and you'll have a lot more room! :D
This is a very common type of erasable ink that is available in Pilot Friction pens. I have a bunch of them. The pens have a plastic/rubber eraser on the ends, but they don't erase in the usual way. They just rub against the paper such that the friction cause the ink to get warm. I've had notebooks where I left them in a warm car or something and came back to find the notes had disappeared. You can bring back the ink by putting the notes in the fridge or freezer.

I’ve been using the [Boshiho Leather Credit Card Holder] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UBNWLB2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_PpozCbHFEWBNQ) for over 2 years and only a couple slots have torn.
Also, P2 uses the smaller [Business Card Holder Book PU Leather] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZR6OG4I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_jBXLzrjMeCJAY) and it works great.
Like a rocketbook? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I use a National brand quad-ruled comp notebook, $11 on amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/National-Computation-Notebook-Inches-43648/dp/B00007LV4B/
Nice quality paper, big enough to jam letter-size printed paper inside. I carry it around with me in a manufacturing environment and it survives. Cover is heavy but flexible card stock, but not as sturdy as the stiff cardboard covers found on some smaller computation/composition notebooks. also comes in spiral bound, different sizes, etc. Don't get the ones with carbon copy pages.
You won't find SS the barrel by itself, but a new all-SS Jotter isn't all that expensive, and you can find older ones on eBay in a wide range of prices.
Less than $12 on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/PARKER-Jotter-Ballpoint-Stainless-Chrome/dp/B0017D5WXY/
One that instantly springs to mind is the Parker Jotter in stainless steel. Here's a larger photo for comparison. I don't think it's a perfect match, but it's pretty close.
The Parker Jotter is a classic choice. It looks nice, has a well known name, and hits your price range.
Amazon consider it cost-inhibitive to offer for sale on its own, apparently.
You could try searching again for the same item sold by an individual seller and not directly from Amazon itself, or find a similar item that isn't offered as an add-on.
Edit: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/ol/B0017D5Z40/ref=mw_dp_olp?ie=UTF8&condition=new I did it for you.
The skill craft b3 has a 0.5 pencil + 1 black and 1 red pen refill and a stylus. You can get it for $30 or less. You should be able to find a blue refill you can swap with the red part online.

From personal military experience, I highly recommend this
Do yourself a favor and get a B3.
I'm a big fan of using card stands/holders for tableaus so that they can be passed around easily rather than everyone having to stand up and hover over them.
Alternatively business card racks are super handy for that type of thing as well.
Also, +1 for silicone cupcake liners being awesome.
Aaaaaand added to my shopping list. Thanks!!

A couple of these really help with the cards. However, they are a pain in the neck to store.
They're also damn good pens, and pretty cheap on Amazon.

I am not sure when the attitude to anti-static precautions shifted; I don't use straps any more, but I do use mats that are clipped onto the device etc. I am not sure if you would even feel it if you produced a static discharge large enough to impact your work? (I honestly don't know) I guess it is not a big deal if a phone board or a MB is unknowingly sacrificed, but it would suck if someone was working on hard to replace board (old manufacturing controllers etc).

I really like your setup, and I didn't even know those blue mats existed!
Anti Static Matt
Pentel Sharp Kerry
Nice compact pencil that has a cap like a pen so it doesn't pike you. Fairly cheap too.
I can't recommend the Pentel Sharp Kerry enough.
It has a cap so no lead or pointy ends poking you when it's in a front or back pocket. It's shorter in the capped configuration and longer with it open and writing with the cap on the back. It has an eraser in the cap and advances the lead when you push on the end, even with the cap on the back. It writes fantastic, feels nice, and it's the first .05mm I've owned that wasn't snapping leads every five seconds. It's very well designed, all metal construction and surprisingly inexpensive for what you get.

FELIZ KAIK DAI!!! Sorry about your sorta depressing birthday, but I hope you make the best of your situation!
I actually just ordered a pencil with a cap. It's pretty cool that the button on the cap pushes down on the button to advance the lead, so you can use the pencil with or without the cap on.

pens!
Yes, get a pretty fountain pen or felt tip that makes writing fun! I like le pen, varsity disposable fountain and sharpie's calligraphy pens.
Couple of quick thoughts on this, the Preppy suggestion is a good one, and pens that are nice, plastic is fragile, especially the caps, but if taken care of, these are great pens.
Now, for a cheaper start, to see if you like the methodology of note taking in different colors, since not all like it. The Pilot Varsity https://www.amazon.com/Pilot-Disposable-Fountain-Assorted-90029/dp/B00092PRCA multi-color pack is great for this, but I would recommend the Thornton's https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01E68AKTC multi pack. I believe they are the same basic pen, nib, etc. However, I think the Thornton's is a nicer disposable pen that looks a little better.
With this choice, you can get a selection of colors to try and refine what you want in a note taking system. Do you want 2-4 colors or do you like having 6+ colors. Once you get a good idea of your use, you can refine what pens you want to carry with you and the colors you prefer. I personally like 6-8 colors for note taking.
Finally, another cheap option are some of the chinese pens that come in colors, the Hero 007 https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-ship-Hero-Pen-007-Dark-tip-Vintage-Ultrafine-Schoolchild-pen-Handwriting-calligraphy-free-nib/32567244662.html, the Jinhao 599 https://www.aliexpress.com/item/JINHAO-599-Student-14-Color-fine-nib-Fountain-Pen-New-Free-shipping/32648562107.html or https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Jinhao-599-Student-fashion-Color-Medium-and-fine-nib-fountain-Pen-New-Give-Family-leadership-student/32668993830.html are good options, especially if you like the Safaris.
Hope this helps some.

There was another thread about that the other day https://www.reddit.com/r/dragonquest/comments/cm9a2s/this_dqiii_hero_bring_arts_figure_is_awesome/
They also mentioned the hands, and mine has the same problem so it seems to be the line.
And if you think Erdrick is hard to balance, try Alena. Between the hair, hat and cape she's top heavy and all over the place ith weight distribution.
For standing them, some people use tack. It won't let you do anything with them, but it can make the difference.
Personal suggestion, put packing tape (the thick clear stuff) on the backside of the poster in the corners and maybe a few other places, put a glob of blue sticky tack on the tape, and then mush it up on the wall. The tape on the poster will keep the tack from tearing the poster when you try and take it off.
Although, it would probably be better to take the poster to a copy shop or office (depot/max/whatever) shop and get it laminated. They might have a laminator big enough, call ahead first.
Here is my list I will put links when I can.
Citadel Shades- also known as washes. I would suggest Nuln Oil as your black wash and Reikland Fleshshade as a brown wash. Example you would black wash the probe droids but I would suggest the brown wash for the wookie.
I find these washes great for new painters because you don’t have to do anything to them. Use them right out of the pot.
http://www.games-workshop.com/en-AU/Citadel-Shade
Also the Citadel base paints that have the metal look to them like lead belcher are excellent for doing highlights on metal surfaces like the blasters or the droids.
For all my normal colors I only use the 1$ acrylic paint from normal craft stores. They work just as well as long as you water them down. You pay more for the special miniature paints and Side by side I did not see the difference in my Minis.
For primer I use white for most things even stuff that will be dark. It is much easier to make something darker. It is harder to lighten up it back up. The washes especially the black wash will darken up the mini as well so it is important for the colors to be brighter than you think they will needed to be.
Some talked about having to do more than one coat and for about half my colors I normally do two coats but the white gives me the freedom to just do one coat if I want it to look lighter. Example I have to paint a mini one time that was wearing jeans. I only applied one coat of blue paint then used the black wash over it. This gave the jeans this faded look and was done much easier than having to do the lighter highlights by hand.
For brushes a size 0 1 and 2 would be a good start. For washing I use a side 3-4 as well since that makes it quicker.
Varnishes there is only one to use Testors Dull coat
http://www.amazon.com/Testor-Corp-1260-Spray-Testors/dp/B0035LOUMU
Ok here are items that are just really nice to have that you may not have thought about
You will need something to put the models on while you are painting them. I use corks and you can get those at a local craft store then you pick your brushes up. You don’t want to be holding on the mini while painting as your figures will pull even some of the dry paint off with enough handling.
Best way to attach them to the corks is poster tack. It is reusable and holds them very secure.
http://www.amazon.com/Elmers-Poster-Reusable-Adhesive-E1531/dp/B000BKQDB4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1420900105&sr=8-3&keywords=poster+tac
For priming I have seen a lot of people use a box to prime the minis and I have done this but I find it sometimes hard to get primer over the bottom of the minis. My solution to that is a yard stick. You are going to get paint all over it so make sure it is not one you ever plan on using as a yard stick again. Use the poster tack to minis to the stick. This allows me to flip the minis over completely to be able to get primer even in the hard to reach spots. I can spray about 12 minis at one time.
Edit wanted to add some examples of my work. These are the first minis I ever painted.

I use the Zebra F-701 with a Fisher Space Pen refill, and it's fantastic. My pen was actually the old-style with a plastic "clicker," but I replaced it with a steel clicker to get the right look. Now the pens are all-steel out of the packaging!
NOTE: The pen isn't truly all-steel construction. Many of the innards are plastic. However, it's a very sturdy pen which I have carried for years now. It's also cheap enough that I wouldn't be (very) upset if something happened to it. If you try it, I think you'll be pleased.
Obligatory Parker Jotter recommendation. I have both the stainless steel and plastic variants. Although vintage brass thread Parker Jotters are more durable, a store bought new one is also good. Tons of refills and can be had for about 8 usd.

If you really like that pad, you could "resurface" it with a 3M Precise Optical Mousing surface. They're really thin and they have an adhesive backing (not permanent adhesive; it may or may not stick well to a fabric surface. It sticks great to wood and glass for me, though). So you could just stick it on and trim it to fit the shape of your favored pad. Best of both worlds?
Hello everyone!
I had been wanting to post my edc for school and felt since the semester is almost over, now would be a great time. I am a computer science major and have been carrying this with me for several months now. Also, pls excuse the obvious line down the middle - i merged two seperate pictures together. So here is my edc from L>R, T>B.
I do carry all of this with me. It's not too heavy as I've tried to minimize the weight of the items I did decide I wanted to carry.
Some bonus pics are below:

Skillcraft B3? It's a three in one type deal with black ink, red ink, and a mechanical pencil+eraser. Sounds sort of cheesy but it actually works really well and feels quality. I write quite a bit for my job and it is really handy to have red ink on hand, even if you don't need it often.
This is one I've been looking at
If you're adamant on getting a ballpoint, then I would go for the Uniball Jetstream. Unlike regular ballpoints, the Jetstream is extremely smooth and pleasurable to use. The price, although more expensive than a shitty Bic, is still pretty affordable.
If you're willing to break out of the ballpoints, I would suggest a Pilot G2 for a reliable and inexpensive gel pen. They write much better (smoother and with less pressure) than ballpoints and, being gels, put down a darker and much more vivid line.
For when I need a pen I prefer the Uniball Jetstream RT. The 0.7 writes finer than you would think. The thickness is comparable to a 0.38mm Pilot G2 (what I used to use).
Uni-Ball Jetstream Retractable Ball Point Pens, 0.7 mm, Black Ink.
These are the fucking best pens I've ever owned.
https://www.amazon.com/Uni-Ball-Jetstream-Retractable-Point-3-Count/dp/B002FSZP5A/
Yeah they aren't great but they work fine for people who don't care for their pens.
For personal use I now use the [Uniballs Jetstream (3 for $9)] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002FSZP5A/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1).
My favorite for years was the [Pilot Dr. Grip Limited $6/1] (https://www.amazon.com/Pilot-Retractable-Platinum-Metallic-36272/dp/B0000AQOA1/ref=pd_sim_229_17?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B0000AQOA1&pd_rd_r=Y9VG2SEYTNGV8PHQKQV5&pd_rd_w=QGWBs&pd_rd_wg=nVAZ8&psc=1&refRID=Y9VG2SEYTNGV8PHQKQV5) but you will never ever get that back when you lend it out, and the refills seemed to be poor quality.
Uniball Jetstream. BEST everyday pen I have ever owned.

I'd counter this by suggesting some Skilcraft US Government pens. You'll find these in pretty much any military base, government research facility, or federal office. They last forever, have a good feel to them, and are very durable/dependable. Despite the high quality, they are fairly cheap. I would recommend buying them and you're supporting a good cause by doing so.
http://www.amazon.com/Skilcraft-Government-Retractable-Point-7520-00-935-7135/dp/B0055KSNYK
This company was set up for the government. They make a lot of products the government uses (like all their ballpoint pens).

This is the one we bought : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005X9VZ70/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The best part, the replacement tape is $1.72 less than the actual machine! hahaha. So, we may just keep buying more machines, just for the hell of it.
Our Roomba (named Robby), and this label maker.........oh, and the Hamilton Beach Breakfast Sandwich maker..........best purchases we have made = D
The only function of spikes is to prevent speakers from being too wobbly on thick shag carpetting, so they serve a purpose there.
Put some foam between the stand and the speakers to help decouple the speakers for a tighter sound. Think yoga mat or children's play surface foam. Inch thick will do the trick. https://www.amazon.com/Adam-Hall-SPADECO2-Monitor-Isolation/dp/B007YFWUDO of buy those and cut to fit your speakers with a good kitchen knife on top of a cutting board. These pads and others like it allow aiming speakers slightly down, straight, or slightly upward.
When you place the stands on the hardwood floor, what you hear as 'bass' is actually out of phase resonances of the floor. Your housemates or neighbours will perceive this with much annoyance =}
Bookshelf speakers rarely have any bass to speak of though under 100 hz - getting a decent sub wíll do the trick.
If the bass is totally absent in your bookshelves it may also be due to poor placement - they may be too far apart from each other, and or the room resonances may be cancelling out the speaker's output in some areas of the room. Try placing them closer together - no closer than distance to yourself when listening - and a little bit away from the wall behind them. http://www.tnt-audio.com/casse/waspe.html a decent guide ( except for the mentioning of spikes on a wooden floor - utterly useless )
>cushion things that angle them nicely
Monitor isolation. Tidies up the frequency range by isolating the sound vibrations so they don't vibrate the desk/stand/whatever surface the monitors are on.
I have this brand for my 305's and they work perfectly and are cheaper than other equivalents. The ones in the link will fit your 308's.
Re: Disappearing ink pens: If I can iron it, I buy the retractable Frixion pens (retractable because I keep misplacing things). Granted, I have to re-draw everything if I use fusible interfacing but irons/rubs away with no problem. http://www.amazon.com/Pilot-FriXion-Retractable-Erasable-Assorted/dp/B009QYH644
Re: tailor's chalk: I've got the dritz one with the holder. The holder's lid has a little metal V sharpen. http://www.amazon.com/Dritz-Tailors-Chalk-and-Holder/dp/B005571HL4
I have one of these fountain pens. It looks like it may be unavailable now but /r/fountainpens can have you covered.
These kind of pens write very well but the ink erases with heat (that's the point) so I wouldn't get the pages you write in too hot.
You should get this and upgrade your monitor game.
While not exactly a full women's wallet, I found lots of options that will hold several cards.
This.
This.

Or even this. (If she carries a big purse.)
Bonus points if you fill extra slots with cute family pics.
Also, never give a wallet without putting a little money in it first. Even a few pennies. Otherwise it's bad luck.
I use this guy, works pretty well for both P2 and me.

Not OP, but it's the Reflex Lab Gaming Pad. I have one as well and it's absolutely amazing. Thick, heavy (doesn't slide), and all edges are stitched to keep the surface from peeling up. I've even run mine through the washer/dryer 3 times now with no ill effects.

Damn dude. What a story about the snake.
Regarding your setup- rad.
I'd suggest grabbing an extended mousepad. I'll recommend this one, got the white edged one and I love it. I could never go back.
Morning everyone! I thought I would be bummed to get back to work, but I'm actually really glad to be back to a routine. Left to my own devices, I sink into the couch with a knitting project and Netflix and never emerge. I was happy to get up, put on makeup, and feel like a human again.
One of my Christmas gifts was this Rocket Wave Notebook and I'm really liking it for work so far. I'm a huge note taker and list maker, and go through notepads like crazy. This is supposedly erasable and reusable so I'm excited to at least save some trees! :)
I'm glad it's a new year. No resolutions, just keeping on ketoing. I want to be in the 130s (firmly) for my wedding next month. And I'll be glad when that's done too!!! :)
Rocketbook
Fill the pages, snap photos to have the pages sent to your email/dropbox/google drive/etc
Once the book is full, microwave it. (That's right, microwave it) with a cup of water on it. The ink disapppears.
The Rocketbook Wave Smart Notebook Can!
There also exists a notebook that does this but with a microwave oven instead of flame, designed for these Frixion pens in particular.

You don't have to. You can. Someone once suggested these pens to me and they have been a great tool in war on writing on things for my board games.
> Is there any replay-ability at all
There definitely is. 4 difficulties alone make a lot of replay-ability, new cards and characters make it replay-able. If you don't spoil all the different outcomes, it has replay-ability there. We find that once you've stepped away from the game for a bit... unless your memory is impeccable, it's often hard to remember exactly which outcomes lead to which endings, etc.

Be prepared for things to go wrong. Like any Lovecraft themed game.
these Pilot Frixion Pens are my favorite.
The Rocketbook Wave is also great for lecture.

VIVO Dual LCD Monitor Height Adjustable Desk Mount Stand Black Deluxe Gas Spring Arms hold 2 Screens up to 27" (STAND-V002D) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M4D395O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_CLfKAb1PYB3NE
Do you want a wall mount or desk mount? I usually go with desk mounts.
I personally like gas spring monitor mounts a lot because they offer a high degree of adjustments. You can pivot, tilt, swivel, and height adjust by just moving the monitor around with your hands.
It feels like the monitor is floating in the air almost.
https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Monitor-Deluxe-Screens-STAND-V002D/dp/B00M4D395O/
Some people don't like/want to adjust their monitors. They prefer a fixed mount like one of these:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FQSAWDQ/
Hahaha, I feel you with the /r/nosleep grind. This is the stand I'm using, great for moving the monitors around but not quite as nice as I hoped
http://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Monitor-Deluxe-Screens-STAND-V002D/dp/B00M4D395O
I have (2) 27” dell 1440p 144hz monitors mounted on this desk with no issues, c clamp on the back. I have tons of space. I would go that route, but even with them on their stands, you would have enough space. The table is exactly those dimensions.
Here is what I use:
VIVO Dual LCD Monitor Height Adjustable Desk Mount Stand Black Deluxe Gas Spring Arms hold 2 Screens up to 27" (STAND-V002D) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M4D395O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_yDR.Bb26M8XN7
Edit: I do keep my UPS and PC on the floor on their own small stands, as I don’t like the extra weight on the desk or risking them falling. I keep my monitors, Xbox and switch on my desk. So I have a ton of free room for work and gaming.
Not as cheap, but:
https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Monitor-Deluxe-Screens-STAND-V002DU/dp/B00M4D395O/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1501256338&sr=1-2&keywords=vivo%2Bvesa%2Bgas&th=1
Add the word "gas" to your search parameters. That'll get you the ones with gas spring arms that can be adjusted really easily on the fly. Alternative to getting a dual mount: get two single arm mounts.
I have this https://www.amazon.ca/Monitor-Deluxe-Screens-STAND-V002D-VIVO/dp/B00M4D395O/ref=pd_cp_147_4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=GZSEN4JAMEZ2ZDR4SDEA
bought about a year ago, work well enough for me (1 27in 4k + 1 23in 1080).
This looks to be the older model. I bought this version a week ago. Works great, Pretty easy to setup.
Thanks, I ended up getting this one.
Here's an alternative that should more than meet your needs so long as you don't mind your cards being horizontal and having slightly more modern look about it with the push clasp. It has enough to cover all the spells a wizard would learn natural just going from 1 to 20 (5 cantrips, 44 spells), and still leave you with 41 slots that can be used for extra spells you add to your spellbook along the way. If you have them, you could even use those slots for the GF9 magic item or creature cards (for summoned creatures/familiars).
I got one of these and it's been a life saver compared to just having a giant pile: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UBNWLB2/ref=twister_B00UBNWKVS?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I only keep 2-5 cards in my wallet (depending on overlap): restaurant bonus, grocery bonus, Costco bonus, and 1-2 min spend cards.
I use and have seen a number of folks mention the Boshiho holder for cards.
Based on the logo, I think it may be one of these: https://smile.amazon.com/Reflex-Lab-Stitched-Waterproof-Smooth-36/dp/B00WY1BMDM/
I use this one from amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WY1BMDM/ref=sr_ph_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468590660&sr=sr-1&keywords=huge+mouse+pad
Honestly I can't remember. Bought on Amazon a while back, I'll see if I can find the link. It's supposed to be longer, but I cut a good 7-8 inches of so it would fit in my old desks keyboard tray.
Edit: [Found it!] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WY1BMDM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_OJWgzbP4JDBDB)
This is the one I use, and it's honestly one of the best things I've bought for my setup, absolutely love it, and $20 is super cheap as far as upgrading your battlestation goes. There's a bunch of options though, just search 'XXL mouse mat' on Amazon and check em out. IIRC there's even a PCMR one on there.

It's a Reflex Labs from Amazon
I don't know what you mean by 5cm/360, but I play on low sensitivity, high dpi, and on this mousepad. My mouse feet do look like they are wearing a little bit.
https://www.amazon.com/Rocketbook-WAV-S-Wave-Smart-Notebook/dp/B01GU6TINM
Dunno if this one works with onenote but it's reusable which is nice.
I plastic screen protector might help the feel of the SP3 but it's never going to feel like paper when it's not. You just get used to it.
I'm this way as well. I genuinely feel much more efficient in pre-writing when I use paper and pen. I can quickly shuffle between pages, I have all my own symbols and colors/highlights that allow me to put it all together when the time comes.
Even with dual-monitors, it doesn't feel fluid enough for me to switch between screens/programs when writing. That being said, looking at other post's in here, Scrivener seems rather useful.
Also, this could be something you might benefit from: https://www.amazon.com/Rocketbook-WAV-S-Wave-Smart-Notebook/dp/B01GU6TINM
Not at all. It smears the writing a bit as it erases, then once you rub it enough, it turns completely clear/invisible.
I use these pens all day, every day and they have stood the test so far. I make a ton of mistakes usually when writing so these are a godsend.
10 Pack, retractable
12-color marker set
Highlighters + Eraser
And to top it off, my favorite: the microwavable 'smart notepad'.
Again, the ink turns clear at 140°, so this notebook allows you to write notes in the notebook with the Frixion pens/markers/highlighters and "reset" it by microwaving it for a few seconds. Best part is, you can scan the pages into perfect PDFs with their app. And you can mark the page to tell it where to save it to (email, Google Drive, Dropbox, local save, etc.) It finally started to break my habit of taking notes and never going back to them with this a couple months ago. I'm super psyched on them and I just wanna spread the gospel of Frixion 😃

does essentially the same thing. Only the rocketbook requires you to take an image with an app on your phone. The rocketbook is only $27.
I use a Rocketbook, one of those re-usable notebooks that lets you scan into your cloud accounts. Been using the same $30 notebook for more than half a year and have all my notes from that time saved online.
https://www.amazon.com/Rocketbook-WAV-S-Wave-Smart-Notebook/dp/B01GU6TINM
My lab's standard notebook is pretty basic, but I like it a lot: National Brand Computation notebook. No table of contents, but it meets all your other criteria. I just use page flags to mark projects, but you could also dedicate the 1st page to a TOC, since the pages are numbered. Light yellow paper with green grid, handles every ink I've thrown at it.
I'm a big fan of this one
Like the other comment mentioned, I have a notebook that is “my thoughts” basically. It goes where I go. It has random calculations, notes from meetings, notes from seminars, notes of things I want to remember to come back to later, etc. It houses all the stuff that I know I want to have written down, but doesn’t belong in my lab notes or book/article notes.
Books and articles I have on the computer and in some notebooks. I am not too picky on that.
My lab notebook is a little more structured. I use this one and I used to use this one
I really enjoy both. I only stopped using the national brand one because it is not hardback and I am just too rough on it.
When in the lab I do take my lab notebook and my other notebook that is just my thoughts so I have somewhere to write down other stuff without clouding the lab notes.
I feel like clear lab notes are important in the event I ever need to hand an undergrad my notes and tell them to figure it out. I am fortunate to be in a lab with 6 super awesome undergrads that have their shit together better than any others I have seen, but still. Good clear notes go a long long way.
Yep. I just finished engineering school this spring, and I've gone through my fair share of pads.
Green Paper is by far the most commonly used engineering paper. It's fairly thin, a little less than printer paper. I mostly used this paper for scratch calculations and everyday homework.
Buff is a bit thicker, but still has the same layout. I liked using this when doing hand calculations that would be included in reports or labs.
For notebooks, look for a Lab Notebook or Engineering Notebook. There are a few options out there, and it depends if you want a spiral or bound book. Computation Notebooks held up very well, and helped preserve my notes.
Depending on what type of science courses you take, I'd recommend our stuff. Our paper is water-resistant, so you can spill on it without consequence. It works great with ballpoint pens, as well.
Let me know if you want a little sample book to try out.
I've also heard good things about these types of notebooks (1, 2, 3). I've tried something very similar to the Scientific Notebook Factory one and liked the feel of the paper.
These are great- http://www.amazon.com/National-Computation-Notebook-Inches-43648/dp/B00007LV4B/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1376656798&sr=8-6&keywords=grid+notebook

$20 bucks is worth it considering most stores will not take back parts damaged by you. Obviously everyone will lie and say "It never worked out of the box" but set their parts on a towel/carpet during the build. You caused the problem and now you have to ship stuff back or spend time going back to the store to replace parts. Spent more time and money then $20 bucks for an anti static mat.

Well. I make speakers so what can you do...
Static electricity. There are however antistatic mats that you can buy such as: http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-24x27-5-Inch-Desktop-Anti-Static-M3013/dp/B00009XT3H
No problem!
I'm in the same boat man. I've been fucked by the DMV for 2 years now so I still don't have a license, and I'm 20. I'm pretty jealous of people that have the coordination to play instruments!
I understand the money struggle as well. I live on a dead-end island where all jobs are seasonal, so during winter jobs are scarce.
If you are scared about frying parts, you may want to look into getting an ESD mat, an ESD wrist strap, and a proper PC repair toolkit. Just some things every PC builder/user should have in their arsenal. Just follow proper procedure and ground/discharge yourself before working on parts and you'll be fine.
Invest in a static pad for your build space and connect it to a ground. Better safe than sorry.

I use a Pentel Sharp Kerry and absolutely love it! I attached a Leuttchurm pencil loop on the inside flap of my pocket notebook cover so that I can carry it. (Just fyi, my cover is about 3.5" x 5".)
EDIT: This also doubles as my wallet and I carry it in my back pocket. I need to keep the pencil inside the cover so that it's not too wide. As is, I never sit on the pencil. I chose the Kerry for the size and durability. Seriously, one of my best purchases.
Agreed, greatest invention evar. I feel like people who still use non-mechanical pencils are like people who use hotmail in 2012. Or maybe old-skool hipsters. If you want a high quality mechanical pencil, check out something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Pentel-Mechanical-Pencil-Metallic-P1035A/dp/B0006SW6YO
Personally I am ok with these cheapos:
http://www.amazon.com/BIC-Velcoity-Mechanical-Pencil-MV5P21-Blk/dp/B000GOWAQM
The Pentel Sharp Kerry comes in 0.5 and 0.7 mm and has a cap so it can't stab you through your pocket.
The Pentel Kerry series are very much in line with the budget of a a student, good quality and look quite high-end:
https://www.amazon.com/Pentel-Mechanical-Pencil-Metallic-P1035A/dp/B0006SW6YO
The Pilot Automac series are also good if you want to just keep writing without worrying about advancing the lead.
https://www.amazon.com/Uni-Kuru-Toga-Pencil-Lead/dp/B00DR6FATK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1535943901&sr=8-3&keywords=kuru+toga+lead

available at 0.9 as well, which I prefer because the lead never breaks.
The retracting tip is its main advantage over the p20x line, mainly because deformation in the little barrel at the pencil is the only way you can ruin that pencil. They used to come with a little pick thing that let you ram clear and straight it (it was attached to the eraser!), but now they don't sell them with that piece anymore and when the tip is bent, the whole thing stops working.
Another one I like is the Pentel Sharp Kerry pencil.
http://www.amazon.com/Pentel-Mechanical-Pencil-Metallic-P1035A/dp/B0006SW6YO
Pentel Sharp Kerry. In my pocket all day, every day. The cap is a little odd at first but then you realize you're never going to stab your leg again.
Edit: And it's reasonably priced for a student. 4 barrel colors and 2 lead sizes to pick from.
Item to help me accomplish one of these things
Of course, I'd have to post the poems in my blog for 40 days. This would be an accomplishment, as I am a seasoned poet, with 4 self-published chapbooks out, a longtime poetry blog, and have been featured at numerous poetry/writing events. However, I've had a bit of a hard time writing lately...okay, for the last few years since being in school. My mind just isn't in it. And it needs to be, or my gift is wasted.
I will need lots of these
These guys always inspire me!
I have a list of things I wanted to do for 30 days...maybe 40 days won't be so bad?
Some of the things on my 30 days list:
Go 30 days without:
Eating meat
Wearing makeup
Swearing
Wearing shoes
Go 30 Days:
Write a poem every day
Send a letter to a friend via snail mail
Drink more than the recommended amount of water
/u/n_reineke , /u/G0ATLY , /u/Yokuo ...what do you guys think?
Think I could go 40 days with any of those?

https://www.amazon.com/bic-fountain-pens/s?page=1&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Abic%20fountain%20pens
Good idea about lending a fountain pen without the cap.
I'm a writer. I take detailed and thorough notes in class as I've found that gets the information in my head best. (Also, that's the way I was trained as a mathematician in undergrad.)
My set up is several cheap fountain pens with a variety of ink colors and a good quality paper notebook. I hate spiral notebooks because the spiral eventually gets damaged. My A5 Clairefountaine notebooks are working out well.
The fountain pens are partly just because I'm older and the ballpoint pens tend to hurt my hands when I write for a long time and partly because they do force me to be a little tidier in my work.
These are what I've been using for my marvel legends and black series figures.

Response to question block 1
I have yet to play against the AI player ("Alien Player"), and while the Doomsday Weapon scenario is a bit "simple" I find it enjoyable trying to build up and prepare for the onslaught of a superior foe. Then gain, I like the theme and simple play of Ogre (so glad I got the pocket edition when it was $2.95; I can't see paying for a deluxified version of this, but I do know back in the day people did buy minis and those did look pretty awesome).
Close Encounters adds in a challenge against Space Amoebas plus revises the alien AI. Better yet (for me), it adds in a cooperative mode and a way to play that aren't "kill another player".
I haven't even punched my Replicators expansion yet, so I can't comment on it. Nice hex tiles are included through.

I do want to note that there are ways to speed up the play of Space Empires: 4X:
The point is you could probably get a fast multiplayer game in, and then as the group gets faster you can start dropping some of these to experience the fuller flavor of the game.

Concerning the P500, there are some staple games that GMT will always print. Men of Iron: Volume I failed at P500 and wasn't printed due to costs, but is now back in a tri-pack. Twilight Struggle will always be reprinted despite the P500 number because it will eventually sell (and has made enough to justify keeping a stock on hand). Space Empires: 4X products are between the two, but on the side of "reprint it as it will sell."

Response to question block 2
The game board is 21" x 28.75", so it should fit in the 35.5" x 25.5" size - but it may shift around. Solution? Buy some poster tack and tear off little pieces. If you aren't leaving it set up for months, this should clean off nicely. Since you aren't hiding your units from an opponent, they can all be face up with the number indicator next to them (though you might run out of space if you develop large fleets - but then use post it notes and make fleet boards to track... Close Encounters comes with 3 fleets, which is disappointing as Stellar Conquest had 15 fleet counters - so maybe make your own counters).

Rather than setting up the board with exploration tokens, get some draw bags and draw as you explore (maybe put a cube or a piece of poster tack on unexplored spaces to mark them... or a piece of post-it note). I like one for each player homeworld color plus one in black for deep space counters. This speeds setup/teardown for me.
Also, get some GMT counter trays to sort/store all those counters and use the tray divider template. I have 4 player trays with all their ships and 1/4 of the number counters on the top two rows divided up into thirds, and this fits the first two expansions in. On the lower half I have full sized bins for all the other counters (MS pipelines, colony ships, homeworld counters, fleets, etc). It works very nicely, but I'll probably have to subdivide a couple more bins once I punch Replicators. The great thing about the trays is they have lids that are fully removable, so quick setup and and quick teardown.

With these tricks, I think you should be able to setup, store, restore, and then tear down the game pretty efficiently without too many problems - but still take photos just in case.

EDIT: Solo Scenarios
Okay, did a read over the rulebooks to break down the solitaire games.
Solitaire Scenario #1 & #2: Doomsday Machine (**Base Game)
Small or large map. Build up your colonies & defenses to face off against 3 waves of increasingly tougher Doomsday Machines. Basic tutorial on how to build up defenses in light of a statistically superior foe, but won't teach you how to get aggressive and win the game normally.
Solitaire Scenario #3: Base Game Alien Player(s)
Face off against 2-3 alien players. These aliens get CP in a few different categories (defenses, tech, fleet), where fleet CP are not spent until you either move to attack their homeworld or encounter one of their fleets. There are two types of fleets: regular and raider (cloaking). It gives you more of a sense of what it is like to go out an attack while defending yourself against other players, but you don't get to see the same stacks as you would in a multiplayer game.
Solitaire Scenario #4: Space Amoebas (Close Encounters)
Three different giant space amoebas have appeared in deep space. While expanding, you need to research science technology so you can eventually build space vessels (no counters provided, use mine sweepers counters instead). Then you have to go out and survey the amoebas, earning 10 research points to determine how you can attack them. Finally, you build a fleet and go wipe them out. Oh, all the while the amoebas will be dividing and slowly taking over more and more hexes. You can build mines and move them into a hex where the amoebas are to stop the spread that turn, but then there is a chance they will learn to attack the mines and become immune to them.
Your goal is to save your civilization from this encroaching threat. Difficulty determines how soon they start spreading. This is the opposite of the Doomsday Machine scenarios, so you are instead focuses on learning how to build an offensive fleet and how to take the battle to an enemy.
Solitaire Scenario #5: Close Encounters Alien Player(s)
This uses a base game like system but adds in a bunch of extra rules from close encounters, and there are flowcharts to help determine what the alien players does. The aliens now can colonize planets, take over your colonies, build exploration and extermination fleets, might destroy colonies that they can't take with ground troops, get alien artifact cards, and so on.
Solitaire Scenario #6: Close Encounter Alien Player(s) VP game*
Takes the 2 player cooperative variant with a galactic capitol you need to protect and turns it into a solo game. Aliens also now earn VPs, so can also win that way.

As /u/grey81 said, it isn't quite the real game. You don't have another intelligent human player moving pieces and developing stacks, you don't see them revealing colonies and building MS pipelines, and you don't see the stacks suddenly shift towards you and ask yourself "is it a bluff or an attack fleet - and do I have tech to defend or should I go on the attack first?" However, the basic game even multiplayer is still "survive the onslaught while figuring out how to attack yourself" and isn't that much different from the Solitaire Scenarios (especially the Close Encounters alien player ones).
Either way, as a solo player I think Replicators isn't too useful to get beyond having some neat components. No solitaire scenarios officially made for it, and I'm not sure you could use the content in it too effectively for a solitaire scenario. Unfortunately, multiplayer solitaire wouldn't work well for this game due to hidden information and a bluffing element... so you'll need to decide if it fits your style. (I personally am glad they have an objective based solitaire mode vs "get your best score" type play you see in Agricola or Subdivision* - but others love that style and hate this battle oriented style of victory.)
If the glue itself is her concern you can use "Poster tack" it's removable and leaves no residue.
The Easy flow 9000 is very good as stated by another redditer, however I personally like the fine space pen refill which comes with an adapter to fit parker pens.
Sure. This pen is amazing ergonomically and hella cheap (shaped much like rotring with knurled grip and stainless steel construction), BUT: it has two drawbacks. One is the awful stock ink that smudges, and the other is the plastic clicky that squeaks. So, several posters took it upon themselves to remedy these problems.
Firstly, everything on the pen is metal except for one part of the pen; the retractable "clicker" - weird, right? The plastic parts make it squeak whenever you bring the pen in or out. Thankfully, another zebra pen DOES have the metal clicker! The rest of the pen's construction is not much to write home about, but that's unimportant. You just need that metal clicker construction.
Secondly, the ink. The stock ink is pretty bad and is prone to smudging. Once again, thankfully, the fisher space pen insert will fit once you remove a small plastic part at the front of the f-701.
An anon that I think posts here made a walkthrough of the mod process here, so if you follow it you will yourself become the very owner of a Space Zebra F-7401!
This will leave you with a great fully metal pen that also has an ergonomic knurled grip and that makes use of the pressurized space ink!
If you're using them in poor conditions: Fisher Space Pen, or a pen that will accept a Fisher refill. I carry this Parker Jotter because it matches my Hero 100 Flighter, equipped with this Fisher refill.
However, just saying you want a ballpoint pen is a pretty big request. Gel, rollerball and ballpoint pens are all... ballpoint pens. Different ones will come with different inks.
Uniball Jetstreams are good, as are Pilot G2s. Personally, though, the Retro 51 Tornado is an absolutely fantastic pen. It's more expensive by a wide margin than the Jotter. It's a much thicker pen, though, so if you have larger hands it's much more comfortable than a Fisher or Parker. And, unlike a lot of pens out there, the refills are both fantastic and affordable.
So. I would say: Get a Jotter and slap a Fisher Space Pen refill in it. Then, if you want to get another nice ballpoint, get yourself a Retro 51 Tornado. Then get a fountain pen. Avoid Zebra. I love my G-301s, but goddamn, those refills are expensive and don't get any mileage at all.
Order a Zebra F-701 and put a Space pen refill it will cost ~$14 so it’s not hard on your pocket. I work outdoors as well and have that combo & keep a space pen in the car with no issues.
I've been using the Parker Jotter with an ink refill for a Fisher Space Pen (which includes an adapter) and I've found it to be a wonderful combination. The fisher space pen is a bit too small and slippery for me to use comfortably, and the Jotter has (in my opinion) a better aesthetic and a very satisfying click. The space pen refill writes very smoothly, the ink is indelible, and is much nicer to use than the standard Parker ink.
If you're really looking for a more minimal aesthetic, check out the pens sold by Muji. They are rather cheap, as well. That store in general tends toward a minimal aesthetic so they are worth checking out for other goods too.
Edit: This pen by Muji seems to be a pretty close fit to what you described. To my recollection, there's no branding on any of their pens.
Looks like a Parker Jotter to me..

I'm a fan of the Parker Jotter. Pretty inexpensive, simple design, and a classic pen.
Adhesive mousemat possibly? Googling that gives pictures of the Razer Sphex, and also this thing which seems similar.
Cyborg (MadKatz) R.A.T. 7 set to 3000 DPI. Nice and modular, with weights that you can remove or add to get the feel that you're looking for. I had problems tracking on a dark surface, so went with a Shiny silver one and never looked back.
Edit: I'm also using a Mechanical Keyboard, 27" monitor and bitching office chair. Fucking around level: 0.
I just cleaned my kitchen, which makes me super happy--it was disgusting, and now it's sparkling clean!!!
If I win, could I have this? I want to give it to my best friend!! He's broke and in law school, and it would make me super happy to give him something :)
Congrats! You should also treat yourself to this fantastic mouse pad ;)

No Zebra yet? Mine is the Zebra F-301 in black for almost everything. Since I sometimes have to take scantron tests or math classes where I can only use pencil, I use the Zebra M-301 mechanical pencil. I don't want anything that's not Zebra now.
My favorite.
It's a fairly hefty feeling pen. My personal favorite is the Zebra F-301. I also like the F-402. I think you can't go wrong with any of them, but the 701 is a weighty pen and a bit thick, but not so much you can't wear it in a breast pocket or waist pocket.
if this is your first delivery job make sure you get a good small flashlight and buy some good pens to keep in your car at all times. I also bought a mini clipboard for a few bucks and had the credit card receipts on it. It increased my tips by a lot because when someone didn't fill in the blanks I handed it back to them and told them "You need to fill out the entire receipt" and 80% of the time would add a tip. Also, countless comments of "Fancy/Convenient!" as it is hard to sign a receipt when you have to find somewhere to do it at.
If you drive a older car MAKE SURE you have:
use the maps as much as possible and use google maps in a pinch. This gets you used to learning the lay out of neighborhoods and what not as google maps just tells you where to go.
Get better pens, like a maintainer pen.

I have so many strong opinions about this topic!
We love Eldritch Horror, but for the first few months we had it, our table space was very limited. As such we grabbed two of these to reduce the footprint of all of the decks - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002YTO3JE/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apip_kMLCI6PtTWjJT.
With two of them you can hold all of the location, expedition, other world, mythos, clue, mystery, all conditions, and artifact decks. And they take up maybe a foot of space? Best investment ever.
Every time I go to a Dollar Tree, I check to see if they have a pack of these rectangular containers. Tiny, and perfect to hold just about anything, and it will fit in most board game boxes. The round ones are pretty useless, which is why I haven't just bought a case yet (you get them assorted in a case). And 10 of them for $1. You can't beat that. Food safe, so I use them for packed lunches as well (like bringing a tablespoon or two of sour cream or something).
I've also heard of someone using a business card rack like this for setting up cards in Arkham Horror. Haven't tried it myself, but I like the idea.
I've also "made" some custom boxes for Munchkin using those wooden boxes from Hobby Lobby (with that 40% off coupon, of course), a piece of balsa wood, and some coffee (for a natural stain).
I use these with my Arkham Horror game. That game uses a ton of different decks and these holders make it easy to stack a bunch of them in a small amount of space. I could see arranging a number of different token piles with a similar setup.
Found one on amazon:

i just take out what i need and throw them around the board but they sell magic the gathering sorting trays i was looking at.
This is one of them. but i dont like paying 20 dollars for something that i dont "need" but if the measurements are right it would fit in the box with some extra room.

The other option would be one of these card holders. i love it because its cheap, nice, and holds all the cards if you see in the reviews someone actually uses EH cards for it. But the downside is that it wont fit in the box and that makes me sad :(

Skillcraft pens are the best for the price. They last practically forever, comfortable to use, made by the blind. The ink goes on smoothly, but not too smooth like gel pens. The click is satisfying, and the pen feels right in your hand. The inner that holds the ink is made of metal and the plastic outsides are a heavier plastic than most cheap pens. They appear cheap enough so that you don't have to go out of your way to prevent them from being stolen, and they come in a pack of 12 so that if you lose a few it is no big deal. https://www.amazon.com/Skilcraft-Government-Retractable-Point-7520-00-935-7135/dp/B0055KSNYK
Thats a really good point about it being reusable, I am actually pretty picky about my pens. I did 10 years in the Navy, and we were forced to carry a very certain type of pen https://www.amazon.com/Skilcraft-Government-Retractable-Point-7520-00-935-7135/dp/B0055KSNYK
that SUCK at writing. Terrible feel, they drag, smear, splotch randomly... now that I am out, I only use TUL just because the write so wonderfully, I may get a Metropolitan and see how I like them. Next semester, my notes in class will be much more enjoyable to write.
Let me Amazon that for you...
Well, if it's any consolation, I've been looking into picking up a box of US. Government Standard Skilcraft pens. Apparently they're the best goddamn pens on the face of the earth, and anyone who thinks otherwise is a goddamn communist.
Not the best but it gets the job done
I hope this isn't condescending, but I'm also a Special Ed teacher and spend a lot of time creating systems for my students. Below is some information that might be helpful. If not, that's cool too!
Make a visual chart for her. Break it down like this:
DAILY (no more than 2-3 things)
Weekly (Do no more than 1 thing per day - 7 days per week, no exceptions)
Obviously, you can make these up however you want, but the idea is to have 2-3 "daily" things and 1 "weekly" thing that she does every day.

Hey, yeah a setup like this would work for movies on a TV just as well. Putting the speakers on stands gives you the best sound quality, but you can put the speakers on a TV stand without problems too. Though I would advise putting something underneath them for isolation (small foam blocks or something like this).
Now for movies small bookshelf speakers might not have enough low-end, so a subwoofer would be a good addition if you really want deep rumbling bass. Otherwise for normal music (non-EDM) just the speakers should be sufficient.
I also don't use crappy floppy lab books like this; spending ~$30 on a hardcovered proper lab book like this is amazing.
Although these were all I used in grad school
And I kill these in about 3-4 months. But I tend to write my thoughts on approaching the problems, which tend to be a bit wordy. Also, analytical chemistry tends to have a lot of graph data and references I stick in my books too (which take up entire pages).

I'd get a couple multimeters, definitely flux, solder pumps, breadboards, maybe a vise, some perfboard, and a bunch of resistors/capacitors/common ICs/LEDs/logic chips/header pins/etc.
The components, perfboard, and breadboards you can get from China (via eBay or Tayda) for cheap.
Pliers, wirestrippers, dikes, tweezers, a few helping hands, screwdriver sets, etc are pretty much necessary. Since you're on a budget, you can get a bunch of this stuff from Harbor Freight, it's crappy quality but it'll do the job.
For the mats, you can get antistatic mats on Amazon (I have this on my desk right now, it's fine).
Consider a bench supply, it's not crucial if you're mostly working with Arduinos/Raspis, but could come in handy.
Get one of these and one of these and you'll be golden.
Get a small anti static mat maybe?
I'd have her try grounding some other way first just to make sure that is it. I would think touching the computer shell would do it.
Would getting something like this to have under my PC be a good idea since it's going to be on carpet? My wife teaches 4th grade and she likes to use [[Noodler's Dragon's Napalm]] for marking papers. She also keeps a full range of Pilot Varsitys around her classroom for marking papers and whatever else she needs a pen for.
What kind of pen are you using? I found my handwriting went from chicken scratch to legible once I got a fountain pen. They require exactly zero pressure to write with as the ink is drawn via capillary action to the paper. After writing with one for awhile, the few times I still use a ballpoint remains readable
I recommend trying a Pilot Varsity. Individual pens run about $3 from the office supply store. Just keep in mind fountain pen ink is water soluble; if the paper gets wet, the ink gets washed off.
I'm replying to you so people who may be interested have a place to start:
My favorite fountain pens for beginners that are super cheap are Pilot Varsity. They're disposable and you can get a pack of them for pretty cheap on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Pilot-Disposable-Fountain-Assorted-90029/dp/B00092PRCA
They can also be brought on planes (I know--I just flew with one and it didn't leak). It's seriously a huge difference to write with a fountain pen vs ballpoint or felt or gel or whatever.
You could start with disposable colors. http://www.amazon.com/Pilot-Disposable-Fountain-Assorted-90029/dp/B00092PRCA
Then move on to the others mentioned earlier. If ink color is interesting, join ink drop from Goulet pens. 5 new ink color samples every month. But you will need a pen with a converter at that point. I don't always clean my ink completely as it is nice sometimes to see the transition of colors. Careful though, some inks don't play well together. Hope she enjoys it. PM me if you have any questions.
Since there are some fellow fountain pen fans on here... Anyone remember the Pilot Varsity? This was my first fountain pen and though they are disposal, I'd say it's still a great way to try out fountain pen if you're not sure you want to commit to the expensive ones.
I'll just leave all these here
I just bought some basic Spencerian copy books off of Amazon, along with some pilot varsity fountain pens. I think it was less than $25. So far I am really enjoying it!
I've been thinking learning it with someone else would be awesome, to try to stay accountable on practicing. Interested?
Edit: The books and the pens if anyone is interested.

There's all kinds of options - you can paint a number onto the base of the monsters if you know you're going to use more than two or three, or you could stick a little numbered flag on the mini with poster tack.
Amateur tip from a fellow newbie.
Get yourself some poster tack and an old pill bottle. Use the tack to stick the mini to the top of the pill bottle and hold that when you're painting. You'll get less paint on you, and you'll avoid smudging the beautiful work you just did when you turn to the other side. :)
You can fill the pill bottle with pennies or something to give it some heft so it doesn't fall over constantly. :)
I use this Elmer's stuff, I think it's basically the same stuff. Adhesive and insulation!
This stuff. I use it a lot at work for our safety posters.
http://www.amazon.com/Elmers-Poster-Reusable-Adhesive-E1531/dp/B000BKQDB4
(Also, if you do go the spraymount route, I would spray the foam board, not the poster. This way the sticky is on the board and the poster reamains relatively clean.)
I recommend poster tack, a small disk of it under the base can resist those mild table bumps. http://www.amazon.com/Elmers-Poster-Reusable-Adhesive-E1531/dp/B000BKQDB4 -Q.
Nice job! Try to keep the camera in focus (how blurry or clear the images is and what range it is clear at) and the set stable though.
When I started I had this same issue, but it's a super easy fix.
Get some poster tack http://www.amazon.ca/Elmers-Poster-Reusable-Adhesive-E1531/dp/B000BKQDB4 like this, roll it into small balls and stick it under objects you don't want moving, such as the stationary car I use this on my videos all the time for background objects and under the feet of figures to keep their feet from sliding.
With the focus issue, all you need to do is turn off auto focus, your camera is trying to focus on the car which makes it out of focus for a few seconds while you're taking the picture. All you gotta do is make it so that its on manual focus or MF so that it doesn't attempt to change the focus in the middle of the shots.
Good luck and Happy Animating!

I think it was Fisher Space Pen refill. Those things are pretty damn durable and have a flat bottom to stand up on as well. From what I recall, the guy kept it in his wallet, yes?
Fisher Space Pen refill is nice.
I love the way the flamed titanium wears! All the little snail trails give it a ton of character. Yeah, I lost the pen and a sebenza at the same time. They were both in a pocket slip I made, and the slip slipped right out of my pocket without me knowing. Bad day lol. Here is a link to a fine point black refill

Edit: If anyone is curious, everything looks pretty much the same after three years except the Squirt's anodizing is a little chipped up. Black leather dye, Lexol leather conditioner, and polishing compound helps to maintain the shiny look. Also maybe don't put your Benchmade in the washer/dryer - that is hard on the bead blast finishing and also really aggravating when you realize it is not just a metal button from your jeans making the noise.
Quite honestly I've never found the data I've accumulated to be concrete enough to warrant further analysis. My gym's V5 is not yours, for instance. Even a V5 at my crag isn't the same as yours.
I really like the Leuchtturnm1917. It's pricey, but it:
Outside of this I keep a Google spreadsheet tracking general numbers. E.g. records for certain exercises, how many problems of certain grades I do (rough indicator of progress for certain goals).
$9 at the moment but I've seen them go even lower:

This guy Parkers. Only pen I've ever put a refill cartridge in myself, by the way.
As for your question /u/TheRealChrisIrvine the basic, low end stainless steel Parker Jotter ballpoint pen is currently $9.97 on Amazon Prime and uses the same refill cartridges as Parkers costing 10x as much

I mainly have experience with 2 mice, a Logitech g602 (everyday, used and nearby locations) , and a small Logitech MX Anywhere 2 (when I have to travel further and need to pack smart)
Not sure if the link will work as I'm on mobile but I've always ended up going back to this one from 3M. Going to have to see if I can get a larger size one from them when I finally make the switch to lower sensitivity for infantry play.
It's a standard size (not gamer) pad without the annoying foam backing. It has an adhesive backing so you can stick it to the glass where you want and it won't move (although it has a spot where you can peel it off from if you want to move it).
I use the 3M Precision Mousing Surface. It's not particularly large, which I like because I'm a little cramped for space. It's about the thickness of a credit card, but flexible. The top is ridged in a way that makes my R.A.T. 3 just glide over it super smoothly. Never had any issues with it losing tracking or anything, and I can't speak for how well it extends mouse battery life as I can't stand gaming with a heavy wireless mouse.
As for speakers, I don't know if I can really help you since I use a pair of Bowers & Wilkins DM602 bookshelf speakers and a Lepai 20w amplifier. Those speakers might be a bit out of your price range, but I totally recommend going the outboard amp + bookshelf speaker route if you have the room and want really good sound.
How rough is your desk? Try using your mouse without the pad to see if it works properly.
The new mouse pad is obviously a problem, so you're going to need to replace it with something.
this mouse pad claims to be specifically for laser mice. The reviews are pretty positive too.
if you don't want to buy a new mousepad, you could just lay a piece of paper over it or your desk, or you could use cloth if you want something more comfortable.
If thats your jam you can use a mouse pad like this one
https://www.amazon.com/3M-Precise-Repositionable-Adhesive-MP200PS-x/dp/B0017D5Z40
>playing on a glossy/ smooth wood desk
shiny or glossy surfaces could cause an issue, have you tried a mouse pad or other surface, it is good to have a surface that has bits/stripes of dark and light to get a good interference pattern

I use one of these 3M mouse pads that have a good pattern(works well with optical/laser) and is super smooth which helps accuracy https://www.amazon.com/3M-Precise-Repositionable-Adhesive-MP200PS-x/dp/B0017D5Z40
There are mousepads like that: https://www.amazon.com/3M-Precise-Repositionable-Adhesive-MP200PS/dp/B0017D5Z40
I think that's about as thin as you're going to get, without going with an adhesive film of some sort.
If you have a mouse pad that you are dead set on, then please ignore, but I switched to one of these, and I feel it is superior to all of the foam mouse pads running around. I'm not a hard-core gamer though…

> My interest in tactical pens was short lived. I found that my interest was more for machined pens. I have several machined pens now. I was obsessed with heavy pens, but after getting that Tuff Writer, I found my preferred weight is around 2 oz.
Fair enough.
> Everyone talks about the Zebra so I'm going to get one. Most of my machined pens are from smaller manufactures, like Tactile turn and Urban Survival.
They're cheap enough to not worry about it, but I haven't really touched mine since I got it. I do like the Zebra F-301 for it's lightweight nature and compactness, but if I'm going to carry a heavy pen, it may as well be a nice fountain pen with some fancy ink in it. ;-)
These days, that means a Noodler's Nib Creaper Flex if I want something light or a TWSBI Eco if I want something fun.
I can do that!
I use three pens primarily.
Lamy Safari fountain w/Lamy ink--practicing or formal letters
UniBall Micro--work/journal
Zebra F301 gel if you can find it--work/journal
I feel like regular pens get a bad rap, but I love the uniBall and the F301 for a lot of reasons. The primary one is that they write very well!
I tend to shoot for $2.50/pen. A Sharpie pen stays on my person at all times—great for sketching and writing. A Zebra F-301 stays in my bag for client meetings, although I'm ready to make the upgrade to an F-701.
I've found that These pens write amazingly for me. YMMV, but they've got a great solid lines.
I prefer the F301 but second any Zebra pen.
Yeah, haha. I've found the perfect one for me in these pens. I know people who don't like them so much. But I love them.
There are so many ways to answer this one.
When I was younger my favorite pens were gel pens and mechanical pencils.
For YEARS from High school - post college I was partial to zebra's F-301.
In the past 2 years I was fixated on [Sharpie's Ultra Fine Point] (http://static1.jetpens.com/images/a/000/054/54716.jpg) when I needed to fill out documents for work because it was a solid black. Which morphed into me wanting an even finer point Micron.
I then swung back to pens instead of markers after grabbing a Pilot Varsity disposable fountain pen. It was amazing and I've bought about 10 more since then just for filling out timesheets for work.
Most recently I got a Pilot Metropolitan fine for Christmas which is fantastic, but has only gotten about 25 minutes of use out if it so far.
I also want a brush pen, but haven't taken the time to pick one up at hobby lobby or Michaels yet.

I really like these pens.

THIS ONE is on my Amazon wish list. If it's good enough for pilots, should be good enough for us!
You can find it on Amazon. The price tends to fluctuate around $20 from the looks of it. I got mine when the price dropped to $17.
As far as multi-pens go, I'm really impressed by how slim the Skilcraft is. The rotate-to-change component mechanism is fun to play with, and it's solidly built with a metal construction (weight is comparable to rOtring) and very nice matte black finish. Overall though, I would say it's a bit of a jack of all trades that doesn't fully excel at anything except being very convenient and portable. The pen components write pretty well, but nothing mind-blowing. I definitely prefer my EnerGels. The mechanical pencil experience is average, though the click is very unsatisfying because of how unsteady it is. However, the component is retractable (since it's a multipen), so that's a nice bonus.
You can also check out the Clutch Situation review on YouTube.
I found the mechanical pencil somewhere in Qatar before I got my end destination, turns out it's a rather expensive one so I hung on to it.

I'm wondering if you can help me out here, I have a sizable 12" 300W polk subwoofer that I really love, but since moving into my latest apartment, I find I can never use it.
I live on the top floor with neighbors below that do not appreciate the room shaking. I put down about 2" of foam. 1" of carpet padding (had it sitting around) and 1" of foam from the inside of a pelican gun case. This didn't seem to mitigate the problem at all. Even at low levels the apartment still seemed to shake.
Would an isolation pad really solve this problem?
I've been tossing around the idea of suspending the subwoofer from the ceiling using a wooden platform and steel cable. I get this would transfer the vibration to the ceiling and rafters, but no one lives above me. I've found several forums where this worked great for people in apartments, I'm just waffling between suspending my giant sub or shelling out $60+ for an isolation pad. I am leaning toward suspending it because then it doesn't take up floor space and my cats cannot wreck my cone. Perhaps even suspending with a thin vibration pad.
Edit:
What of these? http://www.amazon.com/Adam-Hall-SPADECO2-Monitor-Isolation/dp/B007YFWUDO/
I wouldn't mind dropping $23 in case I cannot return them if they don't work, but they seem significantly cheaper than everything I've seen. Although the reviews are good.
if you don't want to move your speakers, in the meantime, you can always use isolation pads. I currently have the same speaker placement but the speakers rests on isolation pads. I don't listen to the speakers often as I rather use my headphones. But eventually I'll get some nicer bookshelf speakers + stands.

When we purchased them back in February of 2014 we paid $22.79 and shipping was free. Ignoring the price increase, my girlfriend likes them a lot and would recommend them.
The monitors are HS8's as well. Not enough low end on the HS5's and the mids are different.
I bought something similar to this not sure if you need it or not.
BTW your setup looks clean and amazing, one thing I don't like is the XL mouse pad :)
Yep. I got these for my center speaker. Only used the skinnier half and used the thicker stuff for some bookshelves in my office. Gets the job done.
Ok!

Good luck!

Here you go these are really fun
See if you can find these. Works for my US charts, at least.
Pilot FriXion Clicker Retractable Erasable Gel Pens, Fine Point, Assorted Color Inks, 7-Pack (31472) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009QYH644/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_zYhTyb3JN8S81
For me, I am a big fan of the Frixion retractable erasable gel pens. I always make mistakes when writing but hate the look of pencils in a moleskine and hate the smudging of a standard erasable pen. These hardly smudge, are pretty pigmented ink for an erasable pen, and erase well. The two cons about it are that they are slightly expensive and run out of ink relatively quickly but it's completely worth it for me.
I would suggest a pilot vanishing point as other people have said. Clicky fountain pens.
I may also suggest as an alternative (non fountain pen) using a Pilot Frixion
retractable (well some of them are, some are regular capped), ERASABLE, gel pen. i love them.
Meet Frixion Pens I love them for being able to reorganize stuff, also for sewing. lol.
I totally get where you are coming from though. It's whatever works for you. I love the act of writing it down, it makes it mean more to me. Plus it gives me a good reason to have some solid "me" time in the morning where I check in with it.
I was using a vertical stand for the last two weeks, 27 1440p bottom 24 1200p top. Hated every second of it and returned the stand/mount today.
looking at the top screen for more than a minute made my neck ache, which totally ruined it because I always use my secondary screen for video watching while the main is my workspace.
Additionally, every time I went for the title bar on a window, to close a tab or whatever, if I overshot the mouse even one pixel, the cursor ends up three inches higher than im looking. Having to mentally find my cursor again and again on a daily basis sucked, and telling windows to keep the monitors side by side was very unintuitive.
I am buying one of the two mounts next week, undecided which yet:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009S750LA
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M4D395O
First one looks nice because you can precisely align the height of two monitors, second one gives much more flexibility in movement.

Regardless, I hated vertical.

I'm looking for a dual monitor mount. One that is fully adjustable. I would love some recommendations especially if you own an ASUS PG279Q.
What is the difference between this $60 VIVO mount versus this $190 Amazon Basics mount?
Are there any dual mounts that you have used that you would recommend as "best in class"?
Also I will be mounting an ASUS PG279Q and a 22" LG 1080p LED. I was wondering specifically about the PG279Q's recessed VESA mount. I have tried before to mount a PG279Q on what claimed to be a 100x100 VESA mount but ended up not fitting in the recessed mounting "dock thingy". Does anyone own a PG279Q that also uses a dual mount and can confirm that the mount fits inside the recessed VESA mount of the PG279Q?
Thanks
Thanks.

How about this smart notebook ?
https://www.amazon.com/Rocketbook-Wave-Smart-Notebook-Standard/dp/B01GU6TINM/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?keywords=smart+notebook&qid=1564927271&s=gateway&sprefix=smart+n&sr=8-8
upvoting in hopes others add to this.
Here's mine. As a student i have a courses notebook. each class gets a section. Each semester of classes get a section group. Thats the hierarchy. I too use a surface with the pen. when i get to class i pull out the tablet, launch ON with a click of a pen, if its not already open and add a new page. ill write down what is being taught while simultaneously recording audio for anything i may have missed. after class or at the end of the day ill go back and rename the day's page and might highlight some of the key points from the lecture. if the teacher passes out any papers, ill take a quick snap with Office Lens and file them with ON. I don't like holding on to papers so they get tossed. and thats pretty much it. Every thing just gets either written, sent to, saved in, or printed to ON and filed to the proper notebook to keep for ever.
I'm sure the venue should suffice for your note taking need. your method of note taking is completely yours. whether its web, outline, bullet journal or any of the many other ways. My question is are you using the app or the desktop version of ON? that might be the difference maker for you. and if you do know the difference and use your preferred version, than perhaps it is the device and possibly consider the surface.
And if its how tablet writing feels in general than perhaps you might consider this https://www.amazon.com/Rocketbook-WAV-S-Wave-Smart-Notebook/dp/B01GU6TINM/ref=pd_ybh_a_22?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=NZC9YFC01AY4TFQ15C8P
its a notebook that you can use with an app to upload to any of your preferred note applications and when you're done with the page, pop it into the microwave and the ink erases like magic.
Best of luck op
Then I recommend this digital notebook. It is expensive, but it fits your requirements perfectly. Amazon Link: Rocketbook
putain mais c'est vrai en plus !

bon, à priori, celui là numérise ce qu'on écrit ?!
donc, pour 40 euros, on a un combo cahier + encre effaçable + scanner. Je passe !
Here ut is. 27$ and then shipping handling etc. I'd have one but I'm still trying to clear the cobwebs out of my wallet. It looks pretty cool.

A smart notebook, you use a ball point pen to write on it, then an app to capture and file to different locations - Dropbox, etc. When you are done you put the notebook in the microwave for a few minutes and the ink disappears and you can start all over again with a clean slate.
Another idea
I got mine from amazon.

Black, sturdy, thin; pencil, black, and red ink in one.
Absolutely. I always have an uni-ball Jetstream RT pen on me.

These:
http://www.amazon.com/Pilot-Disposable-Fountain-Assorted-90029/dp/B00092PRCA
Are a great way to get into fountain pens. They're disposable, cheap enough to throw away, but good enough (as long as you don't let them dry out) to write comfortably until they're empty. They do have a larger/looser stroke than she may prefer, though.
http://www.amazon.com/uni-ball-KuruToga-Mechanical-Starter-1751934/dp/B0026ICM1E
Hands down one of the best mechanical pencils you can get. You won't see too much a difference writing in cursive, but it's a whole 'nother world for block/print script.
Rhodia and Leuchtturm make some of the best notebooks. If you've got cash and aren't averse to leather, Levenger makes a great disc-binding system that costs maybe $150 to get into. Staples has the Arc system which is compatible, and is maybe $20-$40 to get into.
Good luck!
I recommend a credit card holder like this for sock drawer cards.
As far as the CSP, wait until the annual fee posts, then call to either cancel or PC it to a no annual fee card like the Chase Freedom or Chase Freedom Unlimited (both of which have ways to earn bonus points). The annual fee will be refunded if you PC within 30-41 days.
Also, if you don't have any other premium Chase cards such as CSR or CIP, then make sure you transfer out any UR to any transfer partners before getting rid of the CSP.
