Another reply already posted them.

Here's a better price:

Of course bulk powder will always be cheaper.

And I've never really heard of side effects, at least anything notable. Certainly nothing for me. You can probably find anecdotes here and there, but don't forget placebo has side effects. I'll totally submit that to TIL.

I just discovered the beauty of rosewater, and it's amazing! I use this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001U2BUJW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_bsn3AbQA0VY2A
My easily irritated, acne-prone skin calms down a lot when I spray this goodness on. Flakes disappear, complexion looks plump and bouncy, and I don't even need moisturizer after!

250% of the RDA of B12 is only about 7 micro grams.

Looking on Amazon, some of the B12 pills go up to 5000 micro grams.

Did that study show anything about the tiny amounts in Red Bull, or is just a bad idea to take a B12 pill?

I seriously could not recommend the Joque Spare Parts harness anywhere near enough. Worth the upfront investment because its the greatest thing ever. Never falls off, fully adjustable, stays in place, can throw it in the wash, works will all different types of dildos (including feeldoe/share/etc) really well. I have the thing version which I love, but theres also the jock strap version, which I've linked to. Seriously, if you can bite the bullet with the price of this one...do it!

It was a low blow to call Baked Alaska a "junkie" when Cernovich is constantly on stuff like NAC, modafinil, caffeine, and assorted various nootropics all the time.

You don't exactly inspire confidence in yourself when you're name-calling guys lower on the ladder than you who went to serious bat for Trump. That's not leadership.

u/accountgeneric22 · 11 pointsr/sex
  • We started with the Bend over Beginner Kit then moved on to a corset style harness and toy that fit what I wanted size wise.
Only problem with the corset was that the straps were sometimes getting in the way. Could have probably done a better job trimming the straps. Anyway, right now we're using this. It's got the right mix of velcro and straps to be solid yet easy to use. I've thought about the Rodeoh, but had the same concern you mentioned. Don't think there is enough structure there to hold things snug.

  • Silicone all the way...Is slick, not expensive like glass, and won't leave behind any unpleasant chemicals like PVC.

  • Nice, but if you're planning agressive pounding it'll never work without a harness. Bought one but ended up throwing it away after finding a other toys I liked better.

  • Speaking for my SO, she rarely gets off (it does happen) while going at me. Most harnesses with have a pocket for a vibe right up front that can help but more often than not it just gets in the way due to the pelvic bone issue you mentioned. Once we stopped worrying about coordinating our orgasms and just made sure she was taken care of several times before starting with me things became much more enjoyable and relaxed.

>it's like people are playing some kind of game, and they just want you to join their side

I completely understand this, and it makes it difficult to figure out what's true. I do think that vegans sometimes stretch the truth in order to try to win converts, but I look at that as a misguided act of compassion, because the new vegans are going to learn eventually and then they may very well give up.

Personally, I believe that we can absolutely be healthy on a plant-based diet as long as we supplement B12, D3, and omega-3 fatty acids. The first two are incredibly cheap: This supplement costs $20 for a three-month supply of B12, on top of giving a host of other useful nutrients in case you're missing anything, and for $12 you can buy eight months' worth of D3.

As for omega-3 fatty acids, they are unfortunately on the more expensive side. A lot of vegans say that we can get sufficient EPA and DHA by eating ALA, such as from flaxseed and chia, and converting it ourselves. While there was a promising study saying that vegans convert ALA to EPA and DHA more efficiently that omnis, flax and chia on their own are probably not sufficient.

At the recommended dosages, supplementing omega-3 FAs will cost you about $15 a month. I usually buy Ovega-3, although I recently tried Tesla and liked it as well. We probably need more than 500g a day, since we're meant to consume a somewhat even ratio of omega-3 and omega-6, which would push the cost up to $30 a month or higher. I take three grams a day for mental health, although I doubt that most people would need that much.

As far as needing eggs and dairy to be healthy, I suspect that that's the work of animal industries spreading fear, uncertainty, and doubt. Dairies have taken a huge hit lately as people switch to plant-based milk (now with 100% less pus!), and I think they'd gladly lie to the public in order to tourniquet their losses. For instance, we were all told that we need milk in order to have strong bones, right? But that's absolutely not true. First-world countries have higher rates of osteoporosis. And while I'm not sure how credible this is, the great Yourofsky believed that it was because animal protein is acidic, and to counteract that acidity our bodies draw calcium from our bones.

I'm going to wrap this up before I ramble any more, but in short, take B12 D12 and omega-3s and you will be all set!

*While it wasn't dairy, /r/vegan recently had a laughably transparent article about someone who was arguing not only that it was okay to wear fur, but that it was actually a
moral imperative* to do so. It was such a moving piece that I immediately drove to a mink farm and snapped those little fuckers' necks myself, because god damn it, I'm a patriot

Hi. I responded to you briefly in your post in r/plantbaseddiet, but I wanted to put more info here since there are probably more people coming here for this sort of thing.

You need to see an allergist. It sounds to me like you’ve got oral allergy syndrome, which is basically where you’re allergic to the pollens of foods that are in the same family or otherwise structurally similar. It’s not at all uncommon, but you need to see an allergist because you need to make sure there’s no underlying cause. Also, because OAS can be a bit, erm, unpredictable in that you don’t always realize that you’re eating something that will trigger your allergies, you will probably want to have an Epi-Pen and/or emergency inhaler in the event you have a severe reaction. If your allergist deems it a good idea, keep them on or near you at all times, and remember to get replacements whenever they expire. I’ve gone years without having to use my Epi-Pen but I still have several within easy reach regardless of where I am. I also have made sure that all the people I’m around regularly know where they are and how to use them.

Get evaluated for celiac and related disorders. This would be done by a gastroenterologist, which you will likely need a referral from your PCP to see. Given your inability to keep weight on, I would wager that you have some sort of malabsorption issue — the most commonly occurring one being celiacs. Celiac.org has a symptom list that might be helpful. Another one that has more info.

Have your vitamin/mineral levels checked, in particular Vitamin D. Low levels of Vit D can indirectly cause malabsorption problems. There are a handful of other vitamins/minerals that can cause the same thing, but they are almost always related to low D levels. Fix the levels, and you’ll begin to feel better, although you’ll never be able to undo the damage that’s already been done if this is what the issue is.

Try a stomach acid supplement and/or digestive enzymes. Low stomach acid is a relatively unknown problem that can cause malabsorption issues, amongst other things. I use this one because it’s cheap and I’ve yet to find one that works as well. Edit: This one is not vegan, but as I said, I’ve yet to find something that actually works and is vegan. If anyone has a suggestion, let me know. Keep in mind that every person is different, so what works for me might not work for you. For example, I have a friend with the same disorder as me, but these give her an upset stomach and the ones that she takes (don’t recall the brand) don’t do anything for me. If you don’t want to buy anything like this, you can test if this is your issue by taking apple cider vinegar. The usual starting point is a tablespoon taken about 20 minutes after you eat. For me, I found that I needed more and taking it before I eat was often more helpful.

As someone else mentioned, try pre- and probiotics. This is a brand that’s frequently recommended in the zebra, although I’ve known a couple people who felt they’re too strong. Edit: This one is vegan. This is something else that’s been recommended with good success. Two tablespoons daily, usually in the morning, although it’s more than fine to take more. I know at least one person who drinks it rather than water and swears by it. I also give it to my dog with stomach issues, and he drinks it exclusively even though water is also available. An electrolyte replacement would be a good idea as well. LyteShow (Amazon link) is the brand I prefer, but there are several other brands available. Stay away from things like Gatorade/Powerade and other “sports drinks”. While they’re good in theory, most of them are no better than soda.

Do some reading about gastroparesis, mast cell activation syndrome, dysautonomia, and autism in adults. They’re all related, and chances are high that you’ll at least find some insight into how to manage your symptoms even if you don’t find all the answers.

You are not alone, and your symptoms are not unusual. It’s not “all in your head”, nor is it a result of “being picky”. Unfortunately, it is up to you to advocate for yourself and find a medical team that won’t brush you off. In the meantime, I would strongly caution you about changing your diet suddenly. I understand wanting to change it, to be better as quickly as possible, but you can shock your system when there’s underlying issues. Take it slow, find things that work for you, and go from there.

Excessive editing because I’ve apparently forgotten how to Reddit...

I don't know if he'd like to try them or if they'd work for him, but after YEARS of telling my boyfriend something was up with his tummy troubles, we found he was lactose intolerant, too. So we picked up some lactose tablets from Walmart and then from Kirkland/Costco and I've got to say, they seem to help. :)

I do notice a difference with Alpha Brain, but it's too expensive. I've used several kinds of "brain pills" and nootropics and individual brain supplements but honestly I've only noticed a difference with Alpha Brain.

Also, New Mood and ShroomTech Sport seem to work. However, for New Mood replacement, just get any calming or "mood support" blend with theanine and 5-htp.

https://www.amazon.com/NOW-Mood-Support-Veg-Capsules/dp/B000TD0PXU/

For ShroomTech sport, I've found a bottle of Now Foods cordyceps is much cheaper and works better.

https://www.amazon.com/NOW-Cordyceps-750-Veg-Capsules/dp/B0045X9VQC/

DigesTech can be replaced with Now Foods digestive enzymes for much cheaper, as well.

A lot of the stuff on Onnit works, but nothing is a magic cure for anything. The most any of these will do is give you a slight edge in each area. But, I think that slight edge is worth it. However, on Onnit, it's just 3x as expensive as it needs to be. Do a bit of research and you can find a lot of the same stuff for cheaper.

I used the rose mist I bought bc everyone was obsessing over. I used it today actually, bc I threw it in my purse hoping to use it up if I carried it with me. It smelled so weird and chemically.. I don’t even think it is that chemical laden but I may be wrong. I remember reading all their ingredients in ulta and I was under-impressed to say the least.

I like 1000 roses toner spray much much better, or the rose glycerin toner by them or some pink bottle at the vitamin shop.

this is the shit. actually I just talked myself into buying some again. my skin looked plump af with this. screw Mario b.

Get the Spareparts Joque! It is the best harness I have ever used. It's fabric and elastic and velcro so it's very comfortable (plus you can throw it in the washing machine when you need to clean it), it'll fit almost any sized dildo because the o-ring is elastic, and it feels very secure when in use!

Yup, my physical a couple years ago showed I was vitamin D deficient. I started taking one of these every morning (vitamin D is oil-soluble and these gel caps use olive oil as a base, so the body absorbs them better). I went back for re-testing three months later and my vitamin D levels were completely normal.

I took this past February off, started taking NAC for my liver and went to the doctor to get my liver enzymes rechecked after they came back very high.

The month off did normalize my levels. So I told everyone that thinks "I'm killing myself" to piss off and that I would continue every year to do feb off and doctor's visits until I have serious damage.

I choose Feb because it's the the shortest month, aim low.

I think your anxiety is very likely to be a psychological problem. You simply became very worried about taking "high dosage" of it, BUT I can put your mind to rest!

Last winter 2014/2015 I have been taking very high doses of Vitamin D3 for a little more than three months. I read some articles about possibility of healing some ailments in this way so I gave it a shot. Every day I took 50,000 BioTech Pharmacal D3 + 5 Life Extension Super K and I felt great and had no problems at all, important thing is to take Vitamin K2 with it.

My health problem has greatly improved and is now nearly gone. At the moment I'm taking D3 again since the beginning of December 2015 and will take it for another few weeks until my bottle is finished, this will be enough for me this winter.

So if you take it occasionally, it wont make any harm to you, but if you plan to take high doses of it regularly you definitely need to take K2 with it! this is very important as it redirects calcium from your veins to your bones, otherwise you'll calcify veins and this can create some serious problems.

u/jarrellt67 · 6 pointsr/Supplements

Personally, I got tired of reading various opinions on which form of K2 was best (mk-4 or mk-7). So, I just ended up buying Life Extension Super K. It contains k1, k2 (mk-4) and k2 (mk-7) - http://www.amazon.com/Life-Extension-Advanced-Complex-softgels/dp/B004GW4S0G. At least this way I know I'm getting good doses of all types. Also, the softgel is very small and easy to swallow.

u/b0tch7 · 6 pointsr/tressless

I'm about 4.5 months in of twice daily 5% applying to my hairline.

In my experience, I've noticed that eye-related side effects simply depend on how carefully I apply and subsequently wash my hands.

If I am brash and get some on my forehead, or don't thoroughly wash my hands with soap, then within 12-24hrs my eyes get irritated and red. But if I'm consistent and careful with application and washing then it seems to be totally fine.

I think we all touch our faces much more than we realise, also minor sweating in the hours post application -- so it's possible you are accidentally getting some minox directly on or around your eye.

Just my experience! YMMV. Thanks for the post - I will continue to monitor my eye region as I continue this regimen...

EDIT: I recently started taking collagen peptides and have noticed a drastic improvement in my complexion and overall skin health (tightness/wrinkles). Highly recommend!

u/nice_t_shirt · 6 pointsr/vegan

That's nuts, are all kombuchas like that? I was surprised to see this jarrow b12 I've used has 83,330% the RDA.

u/syvania · 5 pointsr/keto

I take KAL magnesium glycinate every evening before I go to bed. It works really well to help with my quality of sleep and RLS, but doesn't impact my digestive system in any way.

u/mortalcoil1 · 5 pointsr/Nootropics

I just take 2-3 capsules from https://www.amazon.com/Optimum-Nutrition-ZMA-180-Capsules/dp/B000GIQS02/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1486300966&sr=8-1&keywords=optimum%2Bnutrition%2Bzma&th=1
Again, i'm not trying to sell any product. This is just what I use and when it comes to this sort of thing if it ain't broke don't fix it. I have been taking it for about 4 months now and it's effects have not significantly decreased in that time.

As far as sleep habits go, some days I have better habits than others, I wouldn't say I practice better sleep habits. For example, I basically always fall asleep watching boring videos on my tablet. This already is a bad sleep habit, but I notice I am able to get the wonderful tired feeling much sooner than without magnesium. As I said, I was that guy who would be dead tired, then the second I hit the bed I was WIDE AWAKE. I could toss and turn until 3,4, maybe even 5. As a side note I have sleep apnea and use a CPAP. Not sure if that's relevant.

N-Acetyl Cysteine is an amino acid that can be taken in pill or powder form -- http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/ingredientmono-1018-N-ACETYL%20CYSTEINE.aspx?activeIngredientId=1018&activeIngredientName=N-ACETYL%20CYSTEINE
It's been recorded in a trial to reduce pulling urges. Given, the study was pretty small and NAC only proved greatly effective in 60-some percent of cases, but it's definitely worth trying. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19581567?dopt=Abstract

I've been taking the Now Foods brand. http://www.amazon.com/Foods-Nac-Acetyl-Cysteine-600mg-Vcaps/dp/B0013OUQ3S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1342385243&sr=8-1&keywords=n-acetyl+cysteine
It doesn't smell very good, but otherwise is easy to take and well worth the money.

Hope that helps. =]

Some people are just more prone to them than others. That said, peeing after sex is always a good idea, especially if you guys are doing oral sex, as that's introducing more bacteria to the area. Wash your hands before fingering her, and try to touch your fingers just to the vagina and clit, not near the urethra if you can help it. She should also be drinking more water anyway, but staying hydrated can help prevent UTIs! If she feels one coming on, tell her to chug massive amounts of water and flush it out of her system.

You should also 100% be washing your strap too. Is your strap able to be separated from the toy? If not, you may want to upgrade to a strap that is separate from toys, like this one: link. That way you can wash the strap too - this one is machine washable, which is nice!

u/AnUnchartedIsland · 5 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

That other person who responded to you is wrong about all supplements being garbage. Supplements that are actually nutrients (like magnesium) are good for you, especially considering most people are deficient in magnesium because it's a water-soluble supplement, and in most foods it comes from the soil, but due to current agricultural practices, too much magnesium is being washed out of our soil. Really, it's the second most common nutrient deficiency in developed countries after Vitamin D.

Magnesium is good for mood and muscle cramping, but you shouldn't just take it during PMS, you should take it daily. Here is more information on magnesium.

Don't buy some overpriced, heavily marketed supplement for magnesium though. You can get like a two year supply for like $20 if you buy it in bulk (you can either mix it with water and drink it, or just buy some capsules to put it in).

Make sure you get magnesium citrate, glycinate, or basically anything that ends in -ate. Do NOT get magnesium oxide because your body doesn't really absorb it.

u/bx_k · 5 pointsr/NICUParents

I had only one at 32, via c-section as well. Similar situation as far as living 20-25min away from the NICU where my babe is. We’ve formed a routine over the last 3 weeks (he’s still learning to take the bottle). Recovery is hard, but I can share what’s worked for us.

Re: c-section — You’ll likely be walking quite a bit. As hard as this seems, I think it’s partially what led me to a quick healing process. Tylenol and Ibuprofen are going to be life for a couple weeks. I wore a belly band about a week after surgery. This made a huge difference in how I was able to move around. Granny panties (the cheap kind from Hanes work well...I joked w/my husband when we were looking at the store, “I want my belly button to disappear” bc that’s how high they went) are super helpful as well. If you can sleep somewhat elevated, it helped me in getting in and out of bed for about the first two weeks. My morning coffee also has a scoop of collagen in it; I’m not a doctor, but I have healed really well & I think this has helped, possibly. I’ve tried to rest when I can, walk when I have to, and accept all the crazy changes I have no control over.

I also attempt to control the little things. My phone’s alarms were set up every few hours and labeled either “Ibuprofen/Motrin + pump” or “Tylenol + pump.” I can send you my exact routine if you’re interested. I pump 8-10x/day and am currently producing just enough for my 35+4 little man, so I’m not stellar but I’m still going. I keep reminding myself that my only goal is to keep pumping and I’ll worry about production more once he’s actually home.

Re: visits to the hospital — Not being able to sleep there has been one of the biggest challenges for us, especially with me healing from a c-section. We’re also trying to budget, so eating at the hospital 2-3x/day isn’t ideal either. We have a daily schedule to visit for two of his cares, one at 9am and the other at 3pm. This gives me the opportunity to have some broken sleep (yay for pumping) and we eat at home. I sometimes squeeze in a nap before the 3pm visit, which helps. We also plan on staying in between visits once he gets closer to coming home.

Having the slight breaks gives us time to take care of our dogs, the house, and attempt to nest bc that didn’t happen how I had planned before he decided to make an appearance. Not to mention, we had moved to an new state just three weeks before I went into labor. This new routine is now just our normal. We do what we can and that’s all we can do. Sending you hugs bc I know this can feel challenging, but I’m told it will be over before we know it.

Edit: Updated drug names bc I don’t know things lol

While I did not notice anything drastic with Vitamin D supplementation, it's definitely one to look out for overall health. People are also often deficient in vitamins K and B12 - so make sure you get those. Spinach and leafy greens are amazing for Vit K and most hard to get micronutrients. In terms of Vitamin D, this helped me raise my blood D3 levels from deficient to normal in about 3 months of daily use.

I bought collagen powder on a recommendation from another redditor, to go with my quest coconut oil powder that I am absolutely IN LOVE with (it makes your coffee taste like Swiss Miss without the sugary feel - though with a splash of SF vanilla my coffee is amazing! Anyway, I bought it to combat my ever more crappy nails. Dear lord, I am drinking the most filling coffee ever. Instead of 2-3 cups of just coconut fat, a single serving of each divided into two cups is amazingly filling. Wow. 8g of fat and 18g of protein out of the gates. And I hope my nails grow!! The collagen (to those who wonder) is flavorless, and with the coconut oil powder and vanilla, it's just creamy frothy coffee. (I use a milk frother)

I've been bad about tracking, but I've also been lifting so I've just tried to eat when I am hungry... okay, maybe I haven't been quite so careful. I woke up today 1lb up, but 1 lb up from my lowest... well within my happy window of success. Today my husband played hookie, so while I wait for my kiln to cool off, we're going to sneak off for breakfast and a matinee of the Magical Beasts movie!! Not a terrible way to go. Although after this coffee, I'd be happy seeing the movie first and then eating... but not sure he could do that. And he's supportive of the fact that I have to hit the gym, and may go with me. Where was he wednesday when I got pinned under the bench press bar, lol.

/r/nofap has some sound science if you aren't persuaded by sound doctrine. Setting up software on your computer, router or for your browser can help, along with getting an accountability partner or making yourself accountable to those you live with by placing the computer in a more public part of your home. You can also order supplements that have been shown to have a statistically significant anaphrodisiac or libido lowering effect, such as this or this. Making a play list of doctrinally sound praise music can also help keep your mind from wandering. Regardless of what you do to help resist temptation, you must also flee from it. Lastly, rebuking the temptation verbally when done in faith can have a mighty result.

With that being said, the greatest and most consistent victory I've ever had over this type of temptation was by focusing squarely on Jesus Christ. Consider that in Matthew 14 where we read about Peter walking out on the waves to meet our Saviour, it was when he looked right or left and was reminded of the waves that he began to sink. It's not unlike driving a car. Do we look at where we don't want to go in order to get where we're going? The hands follow the eyes and so it is with the lust of the eyes and the sin you're struggling with. Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.

r/veganfitness can probably help you better than I can, but as a starter:

u/NSFWies · 4 pointsr/cumsluts

that 4chan pic gets posted regularily on cum popular subreddits. last time i saw it, a biology major made a comment. something about something from raw green veges also helping in the production of that fluid (likely semenal fluid), so raw green veges or some cysteine should also help

https://www.amazon.com/NOW-Foods-Nac-Acetyl-Cysteine-600mg/dp/B0013OUQ3S?th=1

so i take a dose of those too. for a while i was trying to drink 1 whole head of lettuce a day (blended with fruit to make it taste ok). i didnt notice an obvious increase in cum at that point. but i may have already had all the nutrients i needed.

word of warning, the pygeum makes your dick sensitive, and you just leak cum while hard. the sensitive part can be undesired and odd at first. people said "makes you precum like mad". however, i think you just leak seminal fluid while hard, like you loose a little bit of control. not that it made me cum anymore. if it's too weird, you could probably leave it out and still have great results.

u/redpen27 · 4 pointsr/AsianBeauty

i think it doesn't make a ton of sense to look into niche products with unusual ingredient lists when you're trying to figure out an ingredient sensitivity. i think you should look for the shortest possible ingredient lists that don't contain butylene glycol, which is a top ingredient in both the toners you've had problems with (and the hada labo...). the first one that comes to mind is innisfree's the minimum toner, which contains glycerin and propylene glycol, but no BG.

ETA: if that doesn't help, i think you have to try one that only has glycerin for a humectant ingredient, and the only one i know of is this.

I've been taking vitamin D for a couple months now and there has been literally zero difference in any aspect of my health/mood/fitness. I'm not sure if I should keep taking it just for the heck of it or if it's a waste of money? I work a desk job and don't get much sun most days except on the weekend so I thought it might be good to take, but now I'm questioning if I really need it. For reference, I'm taking one of these daily.

I can't promise this will help, but I had an awful yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis (I didn't ever go to the doctor) that lasted months! I was trying everything: garlic, apple cider vinegar, greek yogurt.. you name it. I finally stumbled upon Boric Acid. That link is to some boric acid suppositories specifically marketed for BV or yeast infections, but I just ordered the boric acid powder and put them in empty 0 or 00 size gel capsules. I ordered it from amazon but they might have it at your local pharmacy. Either way, it was amazing. Seriously night and day after just two or three days of use.

I suggest putting the suppositories in at night, as they make you INSANELY wet.

Also, I'm not a doctor, but it does seem like you might have an allergy, IBS, or some kind of inflammatory bowel disorder. Maybe try a serious elimination diet and slowly add things back in?
Good luck!

Edit: here's a link to the regular boric acid powder and the empty gel capsules I just used a knife to dump the powder in the capsules, it doesn't have to be precise, you can do two if you can't get the capsules very full, it won't hurt you.

600mg of Lithium Orotate is on the low-end pharmaceutically, but not Nootropically.

There are all sorts of claims and studies, many of which still need to be corroborated, indicating that Lithium modulates Dopaminergic and Gabaergic transmission, it can reduce available Norepinephrine, it can enhance Serotonin function, it's neuroprotective, the list is endless.

So there is a benefit to just taking a "regular" dose of Lithium. Tons of people report feeling calmer and more focused from regular doses of 10mg to 120mg of Lithium Orotate. Magnesium works fairly similarly to Lithium, and you could try combining the two, but Lithium is more potent by volume.

However, I'm suggesting that you try it for mood regulation rather than Nootropic value.

I'm essentially suggesting that you take a pharmaceutical-dose of Lithium (not quite, but you know what I mean), using a Nootropic-brand of Lithium. You need to be careful, because Lithium Orotate isn't as well studied as Lithium Carbonate (though, many claim Lithium Orotate is safer). It may take longer to clear, meaning that it could buildup in your body and slowly raise your blood-Lithium level over time. It may be more bioavailable than Lithium Carbonate, meaning that my comparison of the equivalent dosages is off. Based on the studies and anecdotal reports I read, my comparison of dosages seems more or less "accurate", so the buildup is probably the bigger concern. For example, maybe you should only be taking 600mg every 2 days, because it has twice the half-life of Lithium Carbonate. I can't find enough information on it to tell you one way or the other.

Plus, you're claiming that you aren't experiencing hypomania, which means your therapeutic dose would be much lower than someone with mood-cycling.

It's not something that is particularly risky. Like I said, the therapeutic dose for mood regulation is 0.6 mmol/L, and I'm only suggesting you aim for 0.1 mmol/L. It is highly unlikely that you're going to experience Lithium toxicity, even if it does have a longer half-life and/or higher bioavailability. I'm just trying to give you all of the available information, because I'm not a doctor, and you need to be your own advocate here. If you experience acute Lithium toxicity, you'll know pretty quickly. You'll feel sick, dizzy, confused, weak, etc. And if that happens, you just lower the dose or stop taking it.

What I would recommend is, you give 600mg Lithium Orotate a try for 3 months or so. At the end of that 3 months, I'd recommend visiting your doctor and asking her to check your Lithium levels. She'll probably ask "why?", and you'll just tell her "you've been trying an over-the-counter Lithium supplement, and you want to make sure you aren't overdoing it". She might give you some speech about "self-medicating", but whatever, Lithium is literally just an alkali metal on the periodic table of elements (this entire subreddit is about self-medicating). Then, if you're liking the way it makes you feel (or, more importantly, if it's helping) you should ask your general practitioner or Psychiatrist to put you on the real stuff, so you can see what feels like in the 0.4 to 0.6 mmol/L range. Or, if you're not worried about it, just adjust your dosage yourself using the Lithium Orotate (but it's going to get expensive doing it over-the-counter).

I use to take Lithium for some of the same reasons I'm recommending it to you. I was too goofy, I'd talk too much, I'd talk too loud, I'd say whatever popped into my head. I'd encounter a debate in a discussion, and even though I felt like I was being inquisitive or curious, other people felt like I was "trying to argue with them" or "invalidating their opinion". I came off as abrasive, when I was just trying to talk, have fun, make new friends, etc. I got my blood-Lithium level up to 0.7 mmol/L, and my life improved dramatically. I didn't lose my personality or urge to talk (which can happen if your dose is too high), but instead, I became capable of having "more normal", toned-down discussions. More women started showing interest in me, and more men and women wanted to be my friend. Shit was a fucking miracle.

Anyways, sorry for writing so much. I write for a living, and it's easy for me to pound this stuff out in a couple of minutes. I would recommend this brand: https://www.amazon.com/NCI-Advanced-Research-Lithium-Orotate/dp/B000VHCU8M/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=lithium%2Borotate%2BNieper&qid=1558391948&s=gateway&sr=8-3&th=1

u/Kootlefoosh · 3 pointsr/StackAdvice

lithium pretty much saves me from having these weird anxious and dreadful feelings. 5 mg lithium via lithium orotate (equivalent of 120 mg of lithium orotate salt, or one of these tablets) has pretty fantastic safety data, and really can't hurt you at all unless you already have a kidney issue (people get this much lithium a day from drinking groundwater in certain cities). I personally take 20mg a day (four of those tablets) but increased dosages comes with increased risks -- which can be mitigated if you have the money for blood lithium testing (you want less than 1.2 mEq/dl)

  • Some almonds, cashews, or walnuts (protein, energy)
  • Some quick cooking oats RAW (if more than 30min before training)
  • A spoon of raw honey (energy)

  • "Amazing Grass" (Good way to start day, and it forces me to wash it down with a ton of water.)

I don't eat everything on this list. It depends on my time, or how I'm feeling; but I tend to mix it up, and stick to things that are easily digestible and can be utilized efficiently.

Other than that, I personally don't like eating "meals" before workouts or training. That's why everything I eat tends to be light, simple, and serves a purpose for the workout. AFTER the workout/training, then it's time for MEAT!

I think that a lot of people swallow lozenges like they are capsules. They are meant to be held under your tongue for optimal absorption. This may be obvious to most people in the nootropics community, but not everyone which is why I mention it.

I second the use of Candida Support it is not strong enough to kill yeart but it weakens it so your body can control it. You should also use consentrated probiotic pills Probiotis each pill has 10 different bacteria from 3 different family's of bacteria. Acidophilus alone wont cut it. Finally Stop eating Kefir and Kombucha, at least for the time being. Both are SCOBY's , Symbiotic cultures of Bacteria and Yeast. Your pumping you system with more yeast. Finaly help your system expel the weakend yeast enzymes yeast make sticky biofilms to protect the colonies. These Enzymes will help break them down so the candida support and probiotics can do there jobs.

Fucking lowlives. Sorry your mom got scammed. These are just general supplements that won't really do anything compared to a healthy diet. I wouldn't recommend buying them all. Maybe a multivitamin and fish oil, or a b-vitamin if she doesn't eat meat. Otherwise, they're likely a waste of money.

Here are some supplements I've taken that look like basically the same thing, though I don't see Amway's nutritional facts (with the list of ingredients) so I just have to go by the marketing nonsense on their site to guess at what all is in each.

I have dry skin and bought Thayer’s aloe Vera witch hazel and was too harsh on my skin (had a burning sensation and left skin red when applied).

The one I TOTALLY recommend that I have been using for a while now is a Rosewater and Glycerin spray (Around $8 on Amazon ). I’m on my 4th bottle already, and omg it is so good! It leaves my skin so hydrated! (I usually spray all over face and let it dry without rubbing it). Since it is not expensive I totally recommend you give it a try.

I love the Spare Parts harness because they have the most control out of ones I have tested. They don’t move around too much so I can control the cock with more accuracy (such as being able to penetrate my partner without putting my hand on the strap on to guide it). They are also washable, and very comfortable to wear. They aren’t the cheapest (and neither are VixSkin cocks) but they are absolutely worth the money. I am on my second one after owning one for ten years before replacing it.

The VixSkin cock by Vixen Creations I own feels like an extension of my body and I’ve owned it for 13 years now. I have found that my partners love the VixSkin feel as it feels the most similar to a real cock (many partners can’t tell a difference when penetrated). I have found the harder plastic of other dildos to be uncomfortable.

Source: I’m a trans guy and a strap on is v important to my sex life.

u/BostonTentacleParty · 3 pointsr/actuallesbians

I haven't worn either, but I've seen a lot of both. And been on the receiving end of a share many times (it's what my partners use).

The share is heavy, and just bigger all around than the (standard) feeldoe. I've seen someone walk around for hours at a sex party wearing a feeldoe. I've never known anyone who could do that with a share. And fucking with an unsupported share is way awkward. But the share is really solid, and with a good harness (I recommend the Joque by SpareParts) you can wear it quite comfortably. I know two women who can come while using that specific combination to fuck folks. But I know more who can't, so YMMV. Regardless of coming, share and spareparts seems to be a favored combination for ladies I know who are fairly to extremely strap-on experienced. But it's a higher price point than the feeldoe alone.

The feeldoe has a space for a bullet vibe, but as I understand it the vibe is better for the receiver than the penetrator. Still, definitely another point in favor of the feeldoe.

I have a date soon with the feeldoe lady I mentioned earlier, so hopefully I can report on that soon. :)

u/Rab1dBuckets · 3 pointsr/lgbtsex

As far as harnesses go I have this one Spareparts and absolutely love it. Easy to wash, looks and feels good, quick and easy to put on, and it is excellent in action!

  1. About .4 to .9g of protein per pound of lean body mass per day (Lean body mass = total body weight minus fat weight + (fat weight x .25)). So if you were 250lbs with 35% body fat, that would be 87 pounds of fat, so lean body mass would be 250 - 87 + (87x.25) or 184 pounds. So your protein intake would be between 74g (absolute minimum per day) and 165g, higher protein requirements are needed the more active you are especially if you do high-intensity or weight training exercise. If you need help figuring this out, then reply back with your height, weight, and BMI if you know it and i'll do it for you.

As for carbs you should be aiming for 20-30g of netcarbs per day (a netcarb = Total carbs minus fiber carbs). So if you were eating 15g of fiber per day, your total carb intake would be 35 to 45g.

The rest of your calories should come from fat. So if you were eating 1600 calories per day, 100g of protein, and 20g of carbs, that would leave 1120 calories for fat, or 124g of fat. To calculate this yourself: fat in grames = (total calories - (protein in grams + carbs in grams)x4) / 9. Using the above example numbers that would look like: (1600 - (100+20)x4)/9 --> (1600 - 480)/9 --> 124g of fat.

If you need help figuring out how many calories you should be eating, provide the numbers requested above for calculating total protein intake and i'll help you figure that out as well.

  2. It really doesn't mater when you eat your carbs. Spread out throughout the day is probably ideal, but it's really not important. Eat when you're hungry and have time.

  3. It really depends on the type of exercise. If you're just doing low-intensity cardio (such as walking or biking or any other form of exercise under 60% of heart-rate max) then a post workout really isn't necessary.

  4. I'm not sure what the question is here honestly.

  5. As many or as few as you want. You shouldn't purposely eat multiple small meals. Eat when you're hungry and when you have time. Some people only eat one large meal per day (usually as their post-workout), others eat only two (usually skipping breakfast and/or only have fat-calories for breakfast such as MCT oil). Most people would probably be best starting off with three meals per day as they're used to and then transition to fewer (or more) meals depending on hunger levels throughout the day.

  6. You should be getting about 3-4 grams of total salt per day. This usually means either drinking salted water (1/2 teaspoon of salt twice a day) or a salty consume or bouillon broth (be sure these are MSG-free) or even a home-made bone broth with additional salt.

I would also recommend a magnesium supplement, somewhere between 300-400mg per day. If you get diarrhea, then you should probably take two smaller doses of ~150mg twice daily (use a pill splitter) or switch to a slow-release version. If you still have issues even with two smaller doses, then reduce the dosage until you no longer do (usually after the first month of magnesium supplementation you'll probably need to reduce the amount to 200-300mg per day depending on how much you're getting from food). Also be sure to get a chelated form of magnesium (magnesium aspartate, magnesium citrate or magnesium citrimate). And when determining how much magnesium is actually in each dose, you will need to calculate it based on the RDI (the RDI is 400mg per day). So if the dose is 50% of the RDI then you would know that it's only 200mg per dose.

If you decide to take a potassium supplement, make sure you aren't on any other medication that might interact negatively (such as blood pressure medicines). If you plan your low-carb diet well you can get enough potassium from food. If you do decide to use a supplement or a potassium-salt, be sure to stay below ~500mg per day and preferably spread throughout the day. Excess potassium, especially from quickly absorbed supplements, can cause serious health problems.

The last two supplements i would recommend would be 1g-1.5g of Omega-3 fish oil capsules (or liquid) and ~2-5000 IU of vitamin D3 per day. There might be cheaper/better brands of these two supplements out there, but the two i linked are what i personally use.
u/BlackWinging · 3 pointsr/Supplements

K1 isn't useless, but K2 is the more desirable form for bone/cardiovascular health. Use the K1 but if you can buy a product with K2 next, this seems to be one of the better Vit. K supplements out there as it has 3 forms in efficacious doses.

u/emd9629 · 3 pointsr/Fitness

Take one or two of these guys a day.

(they're pretty pricey, but they have a MUCH higher Omega 3 content than the cheaper fish oil pills). Flax and chia seeds don't have both types of Omega 3s so they aren't ideal.

Seems fine, though those drops seem like a ridiculously expensive way to get some sodium and magnesium. You can get the same sodium with half a tsp. of table salt ($8 for 4 lbs., which will be 300ish tsp.) and the magnesium can be supplemented with bulk magnesium citrate powder at $19 for a 1 kg bag that will give you 600 servings with 250mg magnesium.

Or to put in monetary terms: you can spend $24 to get 600 batches with equal sodium and greater magnesium with bulk powders or spend $34 to get those drops and make 45 batches.

The more I look into Keto Chow's stuff, the more obvious the scam is.

It seems to dissolve best in warm/hot liquids, but I've only really had a problem mixing it into very cold drinks.

Well you’re still a relatively young person, I’d imagine (don’t quote me on this) that the reason it cause “wrinkles and aging skin” would be due to the fact that it causes dryness within the area the area of application because of the Propylene Glycol in Minoxidil. This usually leads to a person not being able maintain an adequately moisturized face while you have minoxidil on your face. I can imagine that without the proper amount of natural oils (sebum), it could lead to skin aging and wrinkles. Though IF that’s the case (because I am no professional), you may want to use the foam version so you don’t experience the dryness, though you will still have to wait to take off the minoxidil before you moisturize, your skin will not become nearly as dry WHILE you have it on. Over the long term this could make a difference. Hopefully this will help you gauge which direction you what to proceed with. Aside from this, if you can afford the Foam Minoxidil from Kirkland or Rogaine for the duration of your intended use then all that is left is to weigh your pros and cons and decide if it’s worth the potential trade offs.

If you’re very concerned with the health of your skin I’d advise you to look into purchasing a Biotin 1000mcg supplement (Do not take higher than this. This is slightly more than 3 times the Daily Recommended Value of a person with metabolism of 2000 Calories; longterm use of really high contents of biotin could lead to catastrophic nerve issues, the one I provided is usually the lowest you will find but is more than enough). Also look into essential oils preferably with low comedogenic ratings or other moisturizers for your skin. As well as
Hydrolyzed Collagen Peptide Supplements. Though supplements are great, they are exactly as the name implies, they supplement. Having a healthy balanced diet, along with daily aerobic exercise is your best aid in having healthy skin.

Hopefully this helps!

u/starstough · 2 pointsr/Hypothyroidism

This is what I take every day:

  • Zinc

  • Iron

  • B-complex

  • Hyperbiotics Probiotics

  • Magnesium citrate

  • Selenium (This is to lower my antibodies, which were nearly 600 at one point, and are down to under 150 now after several months on Selenium. I will stop taking selenium when the bottle runs out which I think will have been 6 months.)

  • Omega fatty acids

  • D3 5000iu

As far as I know, based on the research that I did on these, this brand and these formulations are easiest to absorb.

I also take 2.25 grain Nature Throid, at night, 4 hours after my dinner.

In the past two weeks I've actually felt better than I have in years. I notice right away if I forget to take my vitamins or if I run out of one of them and miss just one of all those, it definitely is noticeable as well. I added magnesium in the past week and it has been incredibly encouraging how much more energy I've had on magnesium. But whatever you do, DO NOT get magnesium powder. It is absolutely disgusting. I'm usually able to choke down things if I know they're good for me, but magnesium powder is supposed to be mixed in liquid. Well... it clumps... and turns juice brownish green... and it tastes like poison... So ... get the caps lol

I hope you get results soon.

One thing I was thinking about with Hashi's is that absence of antibodies doesn't always mean no Hashi's. I mean, if my antibodies went all the way away due to treatment, that doesn't take away the diagnosis, and doesn't mean that I am "cured". It would just mean my Hashi's wasn't active.

This doesn't mean that if your ultrasound comes back normal and your full thyroid panel comes back fine that you should act as though you do have Hashi's, just that, it can't be ruled out just because at the moment your antibodies were low. But I really think that the Celiac thing is worth thinking about. Despite medicating hypothyroidism, the vast majority of my pretty recent recovery came after removing gluten and soy from my diet.

    Good luck!

This is the one that I'm taking right now: https://www.amazon.com/Metagenics-Mag-Glycinate-240-Count/dp/B004GLGXVO/ref=sr_1_14_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1482431873&sr=1-14&keywords=magnesium+glycinate

It's expensive, but it's extremely high quality. Be warned though, the pills are only 100 mg each which means that you'll need 4 of them a day. At least it's nice for splitting up doses.

The one I used to take is this one: https://www.amazon.com/Viva-Labs-Magnesium-Bisglycinate-Chelate/dp/B00HQP51ZG/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1482431977&sr=1-1&keywords=magnesium+glycinate+viva+labs

Much easier to get down, and much cheaper. I don't know too much about the purity, but I trust the Viva Labs brand enough.

As far as vitamin D goes, garden of life makes some of the best supplements out there. They use plant based sources for everything, so it's all incredibly absorbable (i.e. all of the natural enzymes that your body could use to process the vitamin are included in the pill). They're more expensive, but like the metagenics ones, incredibly high quality. https://www.amazon.com/Garden-Life-Raw-Supplement-Vegetarian/dp/B005JAT318/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1482432076&sr=1-4&keywords=vitamin%2BD%2Bgarden%2Bof%2Blife&th=1

If money is a concern, however, either now foods or viva labs make a much cheaper D3 that should work fine.

I had the same question in the Vitamin K thread last week. I was show
this and
this.

u/Super6One · 2 pointsr/Fitness

Aha recommends you take at least 500mg of DHA/EPA (two components in fish oil). Athletes are recommended to to take 2-4 grams (don't quote me on this). What you have is only 360mg. I usually buy this brand. You're paying more upfront, but if you calculate, you're getting more per dollar for this brand than the nature made. Each pill has almost 3x the amount of epa/dha and compared to the nature made. Plus, these guys have a third party examine each batch of their fish oil for contaminants and to actually check for accuracy.

u/ChemEcalgineer · 2 pointsr/Fitness

Damn, can I work for your company?

Anyway, I would invest in a good pair of shoes for working out. Do some research on which ones are good for running/lifting/ect.

Next I would get a bunch of protein (I use isopure, but that might be expensive for a newbie) and a multivitamin and fish oil. (if you doubt the use of multivitamins I still recommend a fish oil which has more credibility behind it.

http://www.amazon.com/Garden-Life-Vitamin-Multivitamin-Capsules/dp/B00323NW5C

http://www.amazon.com/Nutrigold-Strength-Omega-3-Omega-3s-softgels/dp/B004O2I9JO

these are the two that I have done research for and found to have accurate labels and good purity, but you pay for what you get (I.E. target generic brand is probably 3x as shitty quality)

Next get a gym membership, I use life time fitness cause they have everything and it allows me to switch it up so I dont get bored. If you have any cash left, get a couple personal training sessions with guys at your gym so they can give you some structure

u/kikellea · 2 pointsr/Supplements

I could be wrong, but the Blue Ice one is pinging alarms for me. Not really bad alarms, but more like they're selling an ineffectual money-waster.

I'd go with a simple Omega 3 supplement. Which can be hard to find, as you normally want one with high EPA/DHA and few actually list those contents. Labdoor.com does a good comparison of products. For personal recommendations, I like NOW Ultra Omega, and Nutrigold is pretty good too.

u/GetsEclectic · 2 pointsr/Nootropics

I would drop the vinpocetine:

http://www.longecity.org/forum/topic/23457-vinpocetine-ditch-it/

Try taking the bacopa before bed, it makes some people tired.

Maybe lay off the CILTEP for a few days and try supplementing some glutamine, did wonders for me.

Try adjusting your choline intake, too much makes some people depressed, but not enough will also make you tired and brain foggy. Too much will give you muscle soreness and possibly a headache from muscle tension.

You could try some n-acetyl-tyrosine and see if it helps your motivation. I wouldn't take too much though since one of your ADs is a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. Have you always felt this unmotivated, or is it a recent phenomenon? If it's just a recent thing, what has changed in your life that might have caused it? If it is chronic, and n-acetyl-tyrosine works for you, you might want to ask your doctor about trying ritalin/methylphenidate.

I would also try to get off the SSRI/SNRI, serotonin is depressing. There is a common misconception, possibly due to incorrect ideas about how MDMA works, that serotonin makes you happy. SSRIs actually increase suicide risk for the first few weeks because the excess serotonin makes you depressed. The anti depressant effects take a few weeks because they are due to physiological changes in your brain due to the extra serotonin.

Do you take a multivitamin or any vitamins other than D? Personally I think the base of any nootropic stack should include a good multivitamin, some antioxidants, and probably fish oil, although some people react negatively to fish oil. Not including any racetams or ciltep or anything purely nootropic, every day I take:

AOR Ortho Core

B Complex

Vitamin C

Vitamin D-3

Vitamin E

Fish Oil

Green Tea Extract

Pine Bark Extract

Magnesium

Calcium

Probably less important, but I also take acetyl carnitine, alpha lipoic acid, alpha gpc, glucosamine/chondroitin/msm, rhodiola rosea, eluthero sibricus, jiaogulan, mushroom product including reishi and chaga, glutamine, l-phenylalanine, creatine, coq10, ashwagandha, lion's mane, bacopa, and astragalus.

In addition to all that I take various nootropics sort of randomly as I feel like, including sulbutiamine, piracetam, aniracetam, pramiracetam, noopept, and forskolin/artichoke/hesperidin.

Last, and probably most important, get plenty of good sleep.

u/montysgambit · 2 pointsr/Supplements

This is the best that I have ever taken. Best ratio of DHA and EPA for the price per capsule (most Fish oil capsules have annoyingly low levels of DHA, which is a more complex molecule than EPA and is preferable for the brain and eye function support). It will have a bit of after taste if not taken with much food.

u/relevantme · 2 pointsr/Nootropics

You'll see in the examine article for Magnesium that I linked why I suggest it and Vit D; people are a lot of times deficient in one, or both. Fish Oil is just generally also seen as a good thing to supplement, and it also helps the Vit D be absorbed.

These things, in my experience, give you a much better baseline. Unless you have a really solid/varied diet/lots of sun exposure, these can really help.

So I'm lazy, and I buy this: https://www.amazon.com/LyteShow-Bottles-Electrolyte-Concentrate-Rehydration/dp/B00EK0FGV4/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1519252907&sr=8-1&keywords=lyteshow&th=1

I make a 32 ounce bottle of water with it every morning to take to work. If I feel inexplicably tired/out of it/etc. when I get home I have another.

I know it's expensive, and you can totally make your own electrolyte concoction with supplements/lite salt/etc., but it's quick and easy.

I use Lyteshow. It’s a concentrated electrolyte liquid that I can add to whatever I’m drinking throughout the day. My neurologist asked me to keep away from any type of pills such as salt sticks which can cause upset stomach issues if taken with just water. I also like that lyteshow is zero calorie, very little flavor, concentrated enough that I can carry a small travel vial with me most anywhere. Been using it for over a year now on a regular basis.

Its all good dude, for electrolytes I like to use capsule's like these. Makes it easy and you dont have to figure out ratios on your own. You can by them seperately as Magnesium citrate, Potassium Citrate, and you can Get Sodium from kosher or Pink himilayan sea salt. Sea salt is good because it contains other trace minerals as well. For Muscle recovery Glutamine and BCAA's are amazing.

I'm no excercise elitist either. We love doing bike rides to brewerys and back. I just save the recovery until i'm done drinking. I've found that to be pretty effective.

u/giveusliberty · 2 pointsr/AdviceAnimals

The major electrolytes you have to worry about with keto is sodium, potassium and magnesium. Sodium is easy to get through salt. Most people drink bone broth to get more salt. I'm not a fan. If you're in the US, potassium supplements are heavily regulated and pretty much useless the best option is to buy Lite Salt or No-Salt which are either a 50/50 mix of salt and potassium chloride or will be pure potassium chloride. I buy big bags of magnesium citrate on amazon.

For me, supplementing 400mg magnesium, ~2g of potassium, and 3-4g of sodium on top of what I got through food was the sweet spot.

You may find it gross, but I actually liked buying powerade Zeros and mixing in lite salt and magnesium citrate. Just make sure you start off with lower doses of magnesium supplements and work your way up, while at home, to find where you need to be. You'll know if you get too much when the diarrhea kicks in. :)

I take this exact kind every night. Honestly, it doesn't really affect my bowel movements that much. It does however, potentiate the effects of kratom, which is the main reason why I take it.

Before switching over to this brand/type of magnesium, I used Magnesium Citrite powder, specifically this one. Not the best kind for potentiating kratom, BUT super good for helping out bowel movements, which seems to be what you're after. I'd really recommend the one i linked simply because you get a lot for your money. I see many people recommend the "now calm" brand, because it has a great taste, but it's very expensive for the amount of mag you actually get from it. The one I linked doesn't have a sweet taste, it's basically just chalky. But it is a much better deal.

Prune juice is also a viable alternative for aiding bowel movements, and it's what I take. Just 1 cup when I wake up and it keeps everything soft and smooth lol. I actually find it more effective than mag citrite.

Pepper's Quick Starter Guide

The first thing I want to say is that I'm SO happy for you that you found a doctor that knows about this. It works! I was diagnosed with PCOS and prediabetes at 29. I'm now 48 and I have NO PCOS, NO prediabetes, and my insulin levels are 'beautiful.' Cholesterol is great. You are 100% on the right track and it's so worth the small sacrifice of the diet for your health. Keto is a life saver.

The first week is very hard, but it gets easier. It takes 1-2 months to become fully fat-adapted so know that you're going to feel better and better over time. Please use this sub and r/keto for help and advice getting through it. There are TONS of tips and tricks to help you feel better if things aren't going well. For the first week, don't restrict your intake at all. You may find yourself so hungry. It's okay to feed the monster all she wants that week. After that, you're going to have to eat more sensibly. Calories DO count. You can eat more with keto, but everyone has a limit.

You can make this diet as easy or as difficult as you want it to be. You can do meat, eggs, spices, zero-calorie drinks and lose weight and fix your metabolism. Or you can get into elaborate recipes with exotic ingredients and have fun with that, too.

I go for easy-as-possible-while-still-being-satisfying-and-tasty. If it's too hard, I just can't stick with it. If it's too bland, I get palate fatigue and give in to cravings.

  1. Keep it simple. Focus on what you can eat - not on what you can't. (Meat, cheese, eggs, low carb veggies. Google 'low carb vegetable list' and print one out. Herbs, spices, onions, leeks, and mushrooms are 'free.') Keep your total carb count under 20g a day and try not to eat that all at once.

  2. I do two prep cooks. Once a month is my meat. Cookie sheets of chicken thighs, grilled steaks, roast in the crock pot, chopped bacon, and breakfast sausage. I store it all in baggies and freeze it.

  3. The second prep is weekly. Hard boil a dozen eggs per person. Prep my fresh veggies. Make my bread. (Recipe below)

  4. I use frozen veggies all the time. Toss a box or bag in the microwave, dump on a plate, and eat with whatever meat. I also rely on lunch meat, jerky, and canned kippers for a quick snack.

  5. Spaghetti squash is your friend. Buy a cheap hacksaw to cut it open safely. Cut it in half, scrape out the seeds, put 1/4 cup water in the hollow where the seeds were. Carefully wrap it up with cling wrap. Microwave for 6-10 minutes. (Depends on how powerful your machine is) Let it sit for about 10 minutes because it's going to be hot as hell. Scrape the 'noodles' out with a fork. Use that as you would noodles or potatoes. You can store the noodles for up to 3 days in the fridge. (All squash and zucchini is considered 'safe.')

  6. Buy the giant mushrooms, slice them up, saute them in butter, and now you have flat noodles! Also good for 3 days.

  7. Eggs! Did I mention eggs?!! Eggs will save you a ton of money and time. They're a perfect food (unless you're allergic to eggs) and you can have as many as you want. Endless ways to cook 'em. You can crack an egg in a mug, add some shredded cheese, and a bit of your prepped bacon or sausage and microwave it for a two minute breakfast.

  8. I avoid all liquids with artificial sweeteners. I drink coffee, herbal tea, iced black tea, water, and Le Croix. That's it. Might put lemon or lime in my water.

  9. For your fats, stick with coconut oil, butter, lard, and duck fat. You can also cook with heavy whipping cream and use it in your coffee.

  10. You're going to see how your body reacts to the sugar alcohols. If they work for you, you are one lucky girl.

If you can tolerate sugar alcohols, this is the best zero carb sweetener (in my opinion). Monk Fruit with Erythritol: (Use like sugar in recipes) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LDNBAC4/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1

If your system is sensitive like mine is, this is the only option that I've found that works. You can't use it like sugar (a little goes a LONG way and it's bitter if you use a lot) but it can be used to sweeten coffee and tea. Monk fruit: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07F9QY944/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

  11. Watch your nuts and cheese intake. I don't understand it, but they do seem to hold me and many others back when it comes to weight loss. In my case, it's so bad that I just avoid nuts completely. My daughter's that way with cheese. You're going to have to find what works for you, but if you find yourself in a long stall, these are the two most common culprits.

  12. Save this link to your phone. This shows you all of the keto options at the 12 most popular fast food chains. You're going to need something to fall back on in emergencies. (Today I had a double quarter pounder with with cheese and bacon/no bun and a regular iced tea at McDonalds. I was at the hospital all day and didn't have the chance to eat before I left home or to pack anything. Saved my butt.) https://nobunplease.com/eating-out-keto-low-carb-guides/?fbclid=IwAR37Q4X-JwAG3l81fOzfcTQYOkjS1QUhGcX-K21C7Bw-LNy-HRk8MO7XS6E

  13. This is the best keto cooking channel that I've found. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzRYivTpUQ0r2qPPjfLoQiA

  14. This is the second best, but the recipes are more complicated. https://www.youtube.com/user/HeadbangersKitchen

  15. Electrolytes. There are several options out there and I don't know if one is better than another. I buy bulk minerals off of Amazon, mix them up in a big travel mug and work on that all day. (Potassium citrate-1 tsp, potassium bicarbonate-1/2 tsp, calcium citrate-1/2 tsp, magnesium citrate-1/2 tsp. Cost me less than $80 up front and will save me hundreds of dollars over time to do it this way.) It's really necessary to keep up on your electrolytes or you're going to feel like crap. Oh! And drink broth and use salt on your food.

I'm sorry you're having trouble with meals!

Have you looked at collagen powder? I like this one because it doesn't have any smell. You sort of have to dissolve it in something, so I usually mix it in tea or coffee.

I like to blend frozen banana into my protein shakes, and for extra calories, if you can eat almonds you could also try mixing in almond butter.

u/throwawayieruhyjvime · 2 pointsr/whole30

Thank you for this!!! Honestly, the thing I struggle with the most is no sugar or milk in my coffee. I LOVE my coffees and that little bit of sweetness is something I consistently look forward to. I'll definitely try this! (that said, is the oil necessary? Does it still taste good without it?)

Also, which Peptides powder do you use? This is the one I found, but I also see this creamer one.

I took this product as directed once a day in my coffee for several months and loved what it did for my hair. That said, I began experiencing severe bone and back pain and found out I had dangerously high levels of calcium in my blood. This was the only supplement I was taking so I stopped immediately and within two days my bone pain was gone and within a few weeks my blood levels were normal again.
My doctor warned that he’s seen this a lot since people began using collagen supplements so aggressively. It can cause hypercalcemia in some people so take this as a word of warning. High calcium levels can cause bone pain and kidney stones and can be dangerous.

I've seen it in the form of pills though at some health stores.

And the only protein I've found that dissolves well in my coffee is Bowmar, it's super fine and doesn't clump up like other ones I've used. PEScience is great too if you have a blender and can pulse it a bit to get the clumps out.

Vitamin B12 Deficiency

>Tinnitus may be associated with vitamin B12 deficiency.

On that note, supplements I say are a MUST for using stimulants:

u/meg_c · 2 pointsr/keto

Different forms of magnesium cause more or less diarrhea (Magnesium Oxide is famous for it). Try Magnesium Glycinate -- I take 2 capsules before going to bed and haven't had any problems with it. It's better to take it at night as it makes some people sleepy. (If you tend towards insomnia, this is an awesome side-effect!)

Also, if you're supplementing calcium (as many women do) you want between a 1:2 and a 1:1 calcium:magnesium balance (including dietary calcium). Also, since magnesium is best taken at night (due to sleepiness) you should consider taking your calcium in the morning, as I've read that calcium blocks magnesium from being absorbed.

u/TheHalligan · 2 pointsr/Supplements

I've had good luck with this one:

  • Vitamin D when I wake up.

These 2 or 3 supplements right before going to sleep lets me sleep the whole night.

  • Taurine (1-2g) to sleep deeper amazon
  • L-Theanine to counteract caffeine amazon
  • Magnesium Glycinate (200g) amazon

If I had to choose just one, I'd start with the Taurine, then Magnesium (Mg).

I've noticed the MG gives me vivid dreams. The Taurine & Theanine links are to bulk powders as they offer the cheapest long-term solution. You can purchase pills but they would run $10-30/month per supplement, vs the powders costing a couple of cents per day.

About 4-5 weeks into Keto I had horrible diarrhea problems. Several times a day for well over a week.

If you aren't taking a magnesium supplement then we know it's not from that. If you do start taking magnesium, I suggest trying magnesium oil (it's topical and skips the digestive system) or magnesium glycinate, which is very easy on the digestive system (this coming from someone that can't tolerate Natural Calm).

You might be taking too much fiber at this point. Fiber isn't what fixed my issue. I do believe it was time that was the biggest help. I think my digestive system was finally getting used to the fact that there wasn't going to be bread/flour/carby stuff anymore and things started switching over to different gut bacteria. All I take is a probiotic and then an occasional Super Enzyme Capsule before eating a meal with a lot of raw veggies.

I completely feel for you. I remember feeling absolutely hopeless like I was going to have diarrhea the rest of my life and I had thoughts of quitting Keto. I am so thankful I stuck with it. It will pass! I would caution all the fiber supplements though. Too much will also cause you problems.

u/colloidaloatmeal · 2 pointsr/ketogains

I have found that taking a multi-vitamin greatly helped me on my keto journey. I take Super Nutrition for my daily ( for you: http://www.amazon.com/The-Womens-Blend-180-Tablet/dp/B00028PHN0). I eased into it, taking one in the morning, and one in the afternoon (not in the evening, the vitamins kept me too active and I couldn't go to bed. CLEAN ALL THE THINGS! lol). Other than Nutrilite, Super Nutrition has been the best vitamin for me. I have used several. Also, I see it has the biotin /u/sosotris recommended.

I also take Magnesium for muscle cramps. I take both of these "at the right times", and supplement on an as-needed basis http://www.amazon.com/KAL-Magnesium-Glycinate-400-tablets/dp/B00013YZ1Q , http://www.amazon.com/Nature-Made-High-Potency-Magnesium/dp/B002E7N1CG.

Seconding lite salt. It's about half sodium, and half a blend (primarily potassium, but also some low magnesium counts). I make "ketoade" with 1/4 tsp lite salt and a squirt of Mio Electrolyte and drink 4ish 16oz glasses a day. You could just add the salt to Powerade or anything else you're drinking and see the same effects. Here is a picture of my MFP where I created a tab to track electrolytes. You can see how much sodium and potassium I have consumed after drinking 4 servings of each of those yesterday. I also supplement with 400mg magnesium glycinate before bed every day. It makes you sleepy. I like this brand because the others seem to cause me tummy trouble.

What's been working for me is taking ZMA at night. It doesn't help me get to sleep necessarily, but it does help me to sleep longer. I do feel that the quality of my sleep has improved since taking it as well. I normally take one or two pills, out of the suggested three and it's enough for me.

From a pill supplement form, there are really only a few "vitamins" that I would suggest. This is a quick list:

  • Men's Multi Vitamin ( Rainbow Light) - Basic maintenance
  • ZMA (Optimum Nutrition) - Taken before bed on empty stomach for sleep and recovery
  • Fish / Krill Oil (Viva Fish Oil)

If you eat plenty of macro-nutrient dense whole foods, you should not have to take any more pills than this.

Most lactose intolerant people were not initially lactose intolerant. What we were taught in medical school was that nearly all babies are able to process lactose, but they lose the ability as they grow older, because they should be weaned off breast milk.

I suspect I am lactose intolerant. My symptoms, however, are mild - only gas, but not diarrhea. I would highly recommend buying some lactase enzyme and trying it out when you eat. If your symptoms resolve, you might be lactose intolerant!

You can definitely buy enzymes for very cheap. You do not need to buy brand names like lactaid. They can be very expensive from a pharmacy - last I checked, they were about 30-50 cents per pill from my nearby pharmacies.

I buy Costco brand (Kirkland Signature) from amazon, which costs about 12 cents per pill. Lactaid from amazon ends up costing 20 cents per pill, but the total cost is less because they're selling you fewer tablets. So in this case it may be the better option if you aren't yet sure that you are lactose intolerant.

I am not sure why you suspect you are lactose intolerant, but if you do not want to try the enzyme route, you could also go to the store and buy lactaid milk. Around here, a quart of brand name (Lactaid) milk is around $5.50, but they have America's Choice brand for $2.99 a quart. You can buy that, drink some, and see how you feel compared to when you drink regular milk.

Note - there's limited amount of enzyme in a pill, so if you do experiment with the pill, don't go overboard! (Don't eat a whole carton of ice cream and expect 1 pill to be able to help you handle it all). Follow the directions - you may have to eat more than one pill depending on the portion of dairy you eat.

u/7riggerFinger · 2 pointsr/videos

Dude. Lactase pills. My several lactose-intolerant immediate family members just pop one with any lactose-heavy meal, and voila. Why make your body do the work when you can use science instead?

edit: Shoulda guessed, somebody else already suggested this. Oh well, I'll leave it up on the off chance that you a) didn't know about lactase pills and b) didn't see the other comment that was posted first.

I used Osmocote Plus and these gel caps. I bought 2lbs of osmocote and used barely a third of it to fill 500 gel caps. And from what I can tell, my plants are doing pretty well with them. Total cost for ~500 tabs: $20, plus lots of leftover osmocote for more caps if I somehow ever need more than 500.

u/KlesaMara · 2 pointsr/trees

I was just talking to my roommate about what we are planning to do with our AVB. We decided to use these and makes some caps to take before going out. Just pack that shit in, use a pen cap to press it in. With that amount you could probably make 50-70 (not sure how big that jar is). One of my other friends had some caps and he gave me 2 and the shit hit hard after about 2.5 hours. More bang for your buck.

No.

I've had many of the above mentioned feelings and the best thing I found for them was Lithium Orotate. Cheap, easy to get, and it worked from the first day I took it.

I am very weary of it as there are practically no formal studies (that I can find) so I no longer take it daily. But it definitely helps when bad feelings crop up. I always have some on hand.

The reviews here are in line with my experience.

u/ketoll · 2 pointsr/keto

Keto is now the final step I'm taking for treating my own depression and anxiety in a series of steps that I've taken that has really worked for me. Depression and anxiety really brought me to my lowest this last winter. I made the following changes in my life:

  1. Started seeing a therapist. Getting an outside perspective on your own thoughts is so important! We should never try to think ourselves out of depression. We need people to tell us we're not crazy and that it's ok and normal to have the thoughts we have. We need a place where we can take off the mask and then have someone that will give us honest feedback about our deepest thoughts.

  2. Got my fulltime schedule at my stressful job to be cut to part-time, and talked to my boss about moving toward a less-stressful role. Had to work through some self guilt on this because I've always had a strict outlook on work and being a hard worker, but now I realize that it's up to me to put my foot down when the stress is too much and prioritize my health.

  3. Started taking a few supplements. I take Lithium Orotate in the mornings when I go to work because it boosts my mood and makes me happier. I also take CBD oil to help with my anxiety, and it has greatly reduced it and helped to normalize my anxiety levels.

  4. Keto! The last bit that was hindering me was lack of motivation and sluggishness. Now that I'm on Keto, my energy levels and motivation for being active are much higher. I haven't felt depression ever since I started this diet. It's amazing!

I can easily say that I've never been so powerful, lucid, energetic and fit as I am now. I do not really count calories but I am very careful about how much salt and oil I consume; usually as little as possible, although I do swig on some pickle juice when I feel like I'm a bit sodium deficient. I take a fantastic B12 supplement about once per week (https://www.amazon.com/Jarrow-Formulas-Methylcobalamin-Supports-Lozenges/dp/B0013OQGO6/ref=pd_bxgy_121_img_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=FADXRH9112DBKT73QATT) and consistently out-perform almost every single other practitioner in the gym, regardless of rank. I'm a meat eater, and had a b12 deficiency a few years ago (neurological issues start between 300-400, and I was at 300). I did a sublinqual supplement and am now fine.

Look for liquids or sublinguals. I took https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0013OQGO6/ (which is vegan). It is the methylated version for those that may need it, and the sublinqual absorption helps if you are low in intrinsic factor (the stuff in your stomach that digests b12).

Wellbutrin is usually only for nicotine. It doesn't really work on cravings, it just reduces withdrawal symptoms and works on norepinephrine to reduce the pleasure derived from smoking. For cannabis and other drug cravings, NAC (N-acetylcysteine) can be very effective. It's been shown to considerably reduce cannabis, cocaine and methamphetamine cravings. It's being studied for OCD because it reduces all kinds of compulsive behaviors. Lamictal and naltrexone have also been shown to reduce substance cravings.

u/nxqv · 2 pointsr/leaves

Here's my recommendation. Go seek out weekly, 1 on 1 substance abuse cessation counseling. Supplement it with this thing called NAC, you can get it at any vitamin store.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22706327

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4009342/

https://www.amazon.com/NOW-Foods-Nac-Acetyl-Cysteine-600mg/dp/B0013OUQ3S

The study had people taking 1200mg twice daily. So four of those caplets a day.

It helps a lot but you should really seek out the drug counseling too. Without it the NAC probably isn't as effective. Honestly it's still super experimental so maybe it could be.

u/adovest · 2 pointsr/Anxiety

I originally was buying it from my local store within the Albertson's company, but it was often hard to find or out of stock. Now I'm getting it from Amazon (link here) and it seems to be working the same. The recommended starting dose is 1200mg, so I take 600 in the AM and 600 in the PM, and if I'm having a really bad day, I will sometimes take a dose in the early afternoon too.

Also, the studies aren't as clear, but it is suggested to take 1-3x as much vitamin C as you are of NAC, so I land in the middle and take 1000mg of vitamin C per 600mg of NAC.

Ideas about your current stack:

Maybe drop the oxiracetam for a while, I've read a few anecdotes on the racetams (and also bacopa, interestingly enough) about them "dulling" your emotions, while not always a bad thing, it can be to a degree in some people.

Consider going half alpha-gpc and half cdp-choline (300mg alpha-gpc, 250mg cdp-choline) here or here, some people notice more benefit with CDP-choline for mood

Switch out your multivitamin, ashwagandha, b-complex, zinc, next time in favour of Legion Triumph. It's got a few adaptogens in it (lavender, rhodiola, garlic might be one too, a small amount of acetylcysteine)

Drop the caffeine for a while and just try the theanine on it's own. A lot of people don't realize that caffeine can have a negative impact on your mood when used regularly, and not intermittently (a few times a week)

10,000IU of Vitamin D long term might be excessive, try tapering down to 5000IU (and Triumph also has 2000IU in it right now, so maybe even just 1000-3000IU or from an independent supplement)

Definitely drop the yohimbe/yohimbine. Maca can be good, tribulus I've read reports of it negatively effecting mood in people as well (agitation/irritability).

For the zinc/magnesium, they're both good, but if you're already getting enough zinc in your multi, you might be overdoing it. Magnesium is fine in large doses (as long as you don't get diarrhea! Then split up your doses more).

-------------

Obviously the light box will help. I'd also advise some quick HIIT in the morning time (4 sets of 10-20 squats as fast as possible, depending on your level of activity, with minimal rests in between) to get you up and about for the day. You can even do squats, push ups, glute bridges, and burpees, or something (one or two sets of each). This will take the absolute piss out of you for 5-10 minutes after, but that's a perfect opportunity to stand in the shower and pant like a dying dog.

---------

Improve your sleep too! It's not just about getting up and doing crap, make sure you're sleeping at least 7 hours a day, or try for the next two weeks getting at least one hour more of sleep every single day, and see how that makes you feel. Get flux/twilight all that crap, turn off all the brightness on your laptops/phones after it gets dark outside, turn off the lights in your room 1-2 hours before bed, all that jazz.

If you're drinking heavily (14+ standard drinks a week in men, or 9+ in women) or even drinking to help you get to sleep some nights, definitely stop doing that. Even if it isn't to improve your sleep, it's got a shit load of negative health effects. Same thing goes with smoking, but it can be hard to quit/reduce both of these things. Try to avoid smoking/drinking less than 3 hours before bed, at least. Also avoid doing the same 3 hours after waking up.

Definitely avoid caffeine within 8 hours of bed time. Honestly I think cutting this out for a couple of weeks might help a decent amount (cutting out yohimbine more)

-------

Next comes potential supplements:

Taurine, 1-3g/day (I prefer to take 1g pre-workout and 1g at night before bed) here or here (or much much much cheaper in bulk from powder city)

Inositol 0.5-2g/day (some people notice it actually reduces the drive to do things in higher doses. here or here <--- you can also just eat more citrus fruits instead (oranges or cantaloupes are good sources), some grains are also good sources. <--- consider taking the same time as taurine

Acetylcysteine (0.6-2.4g/day), I take 0.6g in the morning and 0.6 around dinner time, I've noticed it's help a shit ton with my cravings for cigarettes too. It's a decent mood stabilizer in general, and glutamate excitoxicity = bad news bears for a lot of things. here or here. Also much cheaper in bulk, but whereas taurine/inositol have a pleasant taste, acetylcysteine smells and tastes a little bit like rotting eggs (sulfur smell, although it's funny taurine doesn't have that)...

Melatonin, 300mcg at night here or here (try this even if you feel like you sleep fine, seriously)

You could also consider switching out your oxiracetam for some ALCAR/Carnitine (at 0.5-2g/day, avoiding it later in the evening) and Carnitine also might have some mild mood boosting effects in addition to it's cognitive benefits, and exercise benefits.

-----------

Oh if you'd like, you can use my coupon code from iherb for some $5 off your first order, it's JIT328... but a decent amount of this crap is actually cheaper on amazon if you buy it from there (or in bulk from other places like powdercity), so just do whatever is cheapest for you.

Anyone ever take a NAC supplement like this? For whatever reason (a few years ago interest in taking all those weird things to make you 'be' 'more' 'optimal' (lots of scare quotes)) and then a pulmonary problem, I had been taking a daily NAC supplement for, well, a few years. But I'm over my pulmonary thing and don't really feel like paying forty bucks a year for something that does nothing.

So, any experience or input on NAC? I looked it up on that one website that everyone always tells people to look at for supplements, but I'm more interested in specific experience from this sub.

u/SandrasUsername · 2 pointsr/aspergirls

Yeah, it's a over the counter antioxidant pill. I take two daily. It's really easy to find research about online.

I bought this. N-acetyl Cysteine is supposedly beneficial for people with anxiety and depression, including nail biting habits. If you look through the reviews (or the search bar on reddit), there are many people that recommended it! I haven't been taking them regularly enough to say so myself though.

I've tried this enzyme supplement and this expensive probiotic with some success. Looks like this and this are the most popular on Amazon though, from NOW Foods (a good brand), and cheaper.

u/notgoodwithyourname · 2 pointsr/TwoXChromosomes

Thankfully I've gotten better at managing it and haven't had any flare ups since 2017. Yeah it's hard to find out what is going on inside the body. For me, I've cut out all alcohol, grains, and fat. I just try to eat low fat protein like chicken and vegetables. It's not always exciting, but it's a hell of a lot better than getting sick after every meal.

Oh! I just thought of something. If you're up for something, please try these digestive enzymes they have completely changed my life. Even my mother in law has benefited from them. She was about to get her gallbladder removed and my wife recommended that she try these enzymes and they helped her with her stomach issues and she hasn't had any issues since then. It's basically just extra digestive enzymes that your pancreas normally makes when you eat. I dunno why, but it's really helped me.

I wish you a lot of luck in finding out what is the actual cause of all your pain. Try looking for a gastroenterologist if you haven't seen a specialist yet. They might be more helpful than a general doctor

u/Twizlex · 2 pointsr/keto

There's a good chance that since your body isn't used to the amount of fat you're eating, the fat is not getting broken down properly and squirting out your b-hole. I would suggest taking some enzymes until you adapt. Betaine HCL, ox bile, and lipase are the best supplements for this period, which you can get as part of an overall "digestive enzymes" supplement, like this one.

u/qwertquick · 2 pointsr/UlcerativeColitis

I would like to recommend something that worked for me, Enzymes. I use a product you can get on amazon http://www.amazon.com/NOW-Foods-Super-Enzymes-Capsules/dp/B0013OXKHC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1425396051&sr=8-1&keywords=super+enzyme.

It helps digest food and allows your stomach to "rest" a little. Also be sure that you are chewing your food enough. Don't let your stomach do the work, allow the teeth and saliva(contains natural enzymes) do the work. I hope this helps a little and you can get through sooner rather than later.

u/charisonketo · 2 pointsr/keto

I use a probiotic supplement from ID Life (but you can get it from most health stores and I'm sure from amazon as well ☺️) and then these from Amazon.

u/MsMerriam · 2 pointsr/AsianBeauty

Of course! I tried to keep it as un-overwhelming as possible, but feel free to ask if you have more questions! I kind of got thrown into the deep end alone when I started AB, so I'm happy to help when I can.

Oh, of the moisturizers I suggested: for the SNP gels, bird's nest is primarily a whitening and elasticity-boosting ingredient. Cactus functions more like aloe or bamboo, so it's primarily a hydrating ingredient. Personally, I greatly prefer the bird's nest, but if you're sensitive to fragrance at all, go with the cactus. c: You can find either one on Amazon for ~$10. There are even a few listing with Prime shipping if you have that (I hate waiting, lmao).

I know I mentioned that Ladykin whitening cream, but I forgot that it has alcohol in it, so for now I would actually avoid it until you get your skin sorted a bit more. Alcohol in skincare isn't bad, per se, but it also isn't helpful to people like us with damaged moisture barriers.

Also (I swear this is all), here are a few links to good, inexpensive face mists:

Mario Badescu Rose, Aloe & Herb

Mizon Snail Repair Hydro Mist

u/hairy___titz · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I'm curious about the rosewater and glycerin.

u/calamityjaneagain · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I noticed that you you mentioned that your skin is stressed. In that case, here's what you can look for that might help with stressed skin:

Look for unscented products or those without too many ingredients. Cetaphil, CeraVe, Eucerin, Aveeno, Weleda, Dr. Hauschka are good places to start.

Look for ingredients that might help to calm skin, like calendula, chamomile, oatmeal, rose, aloe vera.

  • Check out the Weleda 'Wild Rose' and 'Calendula' lines.
  • Mario Badesco Chamomille night cream gets great reviews.
  • I personally like the Heritage Rosewater and glycerin and use it on my face and hair.
  • Aveeno is all about oatmeal in their products.

So just look around, go with your gut feeling on what you think you'll like, add one thing at a time and evaluate!

HG face wash that cleans well but is not drying at alllll/super gentle, and is well-priced for quantity, AND foams without sulfates:

Hada Labo Rohto Gokujyn Hyaluronic Acid Cleansing Foam (Amazon)

Also Kiku is absolutely my love. I would have trash trash skin without it. Helps with PIH, dry skin, oily skin, balances drying from acids, good all year round, quick absorbing, nice as primer too tbh.

Both of these things have made a world of difference because my skin spirals downwards really quick if I take either of these two out, as I have sadly learned twice last year.

Other random products:

  • Heritage Store Rosewater & Glycerin (Amazon) - Another HG product I like to use after applying everything, and then just mist my face; leaves skin supple and bouncy; also works as primer; nice throughout the day too
  • Heritage Store Rose Petals Rosewater Facial Toner Alcohol Free (Amazon) - Almost exactly as top, but not as sticky/supple
  • CeraVe PM Lotion - I like to use this as a substitute for Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformer
u/GreyDayGold · 2 pointsr/AsianBeauty
u/chemkara · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Collagen doesn’t do much for skin since our skin can not absorb it. The top ingredient is Glycerin which is what made your skin feel better since it is a humectant.

You would be better just buying a glycerin based toner like this one, or this one.

i've seen [this harness](https://www.amazon.com/SpareParts-HardWear-Joque-Double-Harness/dp/B002DOJR1O?th=1
) up close during a fetish party and i was amazed how steady the dildo was! Like it was attached to Her body!

> r/nsfwasmr

In my opinion... most people who create nsfw videos are focusing too much on the sexual aspect, and they're losing the essence... which is to provide a relaxing/euphoric feeling at the same time. i would encourage You to check Youtube for regular ASMR.

> If you believe in the product, it sells itself.

Your nailtapping audio is the most perfect example! You took a simple idea, and You made it so sexy. Your 'cheating' audio was also incredible! i've mentioned it before... i discovered GWA through ASMR. Pretty much every trigger was making me feel both relaxed and aroused (nails, mouth sounds, kisses, whispering, licking etc). From there, i skipped the nsfwasmr videos... and i found GWA where i got amazed by people's creativity, even without proper equipment.

> It does.

In the Day7 link i gave above, it's funny how i talk about my "gasms"... and now they've been taken away! 😊

PS: You should do AMA's more often! i had so much fun getting to know You better!

A harness and smaller dildo would be best for starting out. I highly recommend Outlaw Leather- they make high-quality products that fit an assortment of toys and they fit wonderfully. http://www.outlawseattle.com/

The Joque Spare Parts harness is also extremely comfortable and versatile. http://www.amazon.com/SpareParts-Joque-double-strap-Harness/dp/B002DOJR1O

The Tantus Acute is a good beginner for pegging. It can be easily reverse in the harness for different positions for pegging and isn't too big. http://www.amazon.com/Tantus-Acute-Dildo-Midnight-Purple/dp/B000PHJB26

Start out with a smaller dildo and harness and if both of you like it, look into doubles. The FunFactory Share is also something similar to the Feeldoe and is very pleasurable for both parties. http://www.amazon.com/Fun-Factory-XFF24408-Funfactory-Share/dp/B000R3SOLC

u/firecontrol · 2 pointsr/sex

My girl and I own both the Fun Factory Share and the Tantus Feeldoe. The share is better, because of the size of the vaginal insert: it's a good deal bigger than the Feeldoe's, and it's got a better shape.

Either one can be prone to falling out, though. They do work with harnesses, however. We bought the SpareParts Joque harness. It's a little pricey, but it's stable, comfortable for her, and you can toss it in the wash. It works with both dildos. Highly recommend it.

u/LetsGoEatHonk · 1 pointr/dxm

Thank you for your responses, I appreciate your continued explanation.

I've endured a long and difficult relationship with psychoactives. I first took DXM 7 years ago, and I have since run the gamut. Drug combinations, dosing methods, kitchen extractions, you name it-- I've done it. In other words, learned the hard way. I think this may be why I have such reverence for your approach. I am humbled by your thoughtfulness.

Note: this post is very, very long.

My method:

Preparation begins several days in advance. Like you, I have obligations that necessitate some schedule-shuffling. In many ways, this makes the experience feel more like a vacation; it's a special occasion, so I treat it like a holiday.

I abstain from alcohol and other drugs for at least 72 hours before the trip. As you mention, hydration is key to basic health, and this is a component of the days leading up to the trip. If I haven't been hydrating well, this is my chance to catch up.

I clean my environment fully. I dust, vacuum, mop, and sanitize my bedroom. I clear rubbish and generally tidy any areas I might enter around the time of the trip, such as the bathroom, kitchen, and living room.

I make sure to eat plenty of fiber, protein, and nutrient-rich foods like nuts, leafy green vegetables, and fish. If I can't get fish, I make sure I take a good amount of high quality fish or cod liver oil. I practice a high-fat, adequate-protein diet; basically, it's a modified ketonic diet. I usually take in 1-2 tbsp of cold-pressed extra virgin coconut oil once or twice a day both for its health benefits and for increased absorption of other chemicals. However, I skip this on DXM day, which I'll explain later. I have a wide range of supplements I take as well. These include micronized creatine, HMB, a multivitamin, and a number of nootropics. My nootropic stack varies depending on whether I have to work or not, but usually includes piracetam, aniracetam, ashwagandha; sometimes I add phenibut and/or phenylpiracetam.

The day before the trip, I exercise-- hard. I push myself to my absolute limits with calisthenics, weightlifting, and cardio. If I have the time for it, I will go for 2-3 hours split up throughout the day. I find that this accomplishes two things: 1) I achieve a deeper state of rest the night before and 2) I have considerably less anxiety about the trip. At night, I take ZMA. This contains a form of magnesium, but I've never had any issues with interactions. I'm pretty certain that the peak levels of magnesium occur sometime during the night, but I would recommend caution when using magnesium supplements within 24 hours of DXM use. As I have said many times before, every body is different and every brain is different. Your mileage may vary.

It's hard to perform any skilled task well when your body is completely exhausted.

I use Whey Protein Isolate (any brand should work, check the ingredients) which doesn't have lactase and has never caused me issues as a lactose intolerant gal.

Also, if you are lactose intolerant and haven't tried using lactase pills, you really should. I had to stop eating cheese/ice cream/milk products when I became lactose intolerant, but then I discovered these pills and now I just pop one and get to enjoy these foods again.

u/MagnaFarce · 1 pointr/4chan

Sounds like you're fucked. That's how it started with me when I was a kid.

They have lactase enzyme pills you can take when you eat dairy that will help a lot (lactose intolerance is what happens when your body stops producing this enzyme), but you'll probably still be gassy.

u/alabrie · 1 pointr/Fitness

Yeah, I didn't know pills existed for a while either. At my local publix, I found Lactase pills next to the upset stomach/diarrhea medicine. It should be in the medicine area, around stuff like pepto bismol and immodium.

In my CVS it's in a similar area, next to stomach medicine stuff. Or uh..amazon even? Huh, that's a surprise, last time I checked a few months ago, I couldn't find any on amazon. Cool.

u/fatterbelly1234 · 1 pointr/Stuffers

I am lactose intolerant. You can get tablets that contain the lactase enzyme that breaks down lactose. Personally I use these https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000HI0CKS/

u/zoycobot · 1 pointr/leangains

I'm lactose intolerant as well (though ice cream affects me less badly than straight milk). I just buy these off amazon. Not a bad price for being able to ingest sweet, delicious dairy products again. Just pop one right before you eat anything milk related.

u/Zargathe · 1 pointr/food

Just want to reiterate the lactase pill suggestion — they're my lifeline. I'm 24 and have been lactarded (just saw that here, and I love it) for like 8 years, or at least have been conscious of it, and I can relate a lot to your concerns: being a poor college student, drinking half a gallon on milk a day + tons of cheese, ice cream, etc. Dairy is fucking delicious.

The doctors that suggested lactose intolerance actually thought I may have overwhelmed my body's lactase-producing mechanisms, and it just gave up. I had to cut back on my dairy intake, but I get some of these which come in little tear-open individual packets. I keep a couple of them in a credit card slot in my wallet, as they're not very big, and one of those will ensure I'm fine eating/drinking as much dairy as I want in about a 15-25 minute window. Otherwise, I may get some baaaad gas, severe stomach pain, or defecate in large quantities and/or frequencies in a manner which typically makes me want to take a shower and a nap afterwards.

tl;dr: keep store brand lactase pills in your wallet — cheaper than name brand and very useful. Also, activia yogurt and lactose-free milk are harmless, and a slice of cheese here or there won't kill you or those around you.

I don't claim to know how it works. If I had to guess I'd say it's very similar to the way [this] (http://www.amazon.com/180-Caplets-Fast-Acting-Lactase/dp/B000HI0CKS) works, but I have no idea. What I do know is that they prevent any pain and diarrhea from eating wheat. What do you have to base your claim on that it doesn't work?

u/nidrach · 1 pointr/food

Do you have an allergy or are you just lactose intolerant? If it is lactose intolerance you can get lactase in pill form like here. Just take one or two before a meal and you can drink as much milk as you want.

I just went through this! That stuff turned into SLUDGE.

I know you’re already done, but for those that run into this in the future, here’s what I did:

I went out and bought empty capsules, measured out 5 mg (my recommended daily dose), scooped them into the pills, and took them with my antibiotics dose.

Based on the size of the pills I bought, 5mg fit into 5-6 pills total (depending on how packed they were), so I could take 2 pills 3x a day with my 3x a day antibiotics.

Also, I noticed one of them came out whole in a BM, so from then on I made sure not to close the cap too tight. That seemed to do the trick.

These aren’t the exact brand I got at the store, but same size.

u/EyesEarsMouthNose · 1 pointr/Drugs

If you haven’t tried this already, I strongly suggest making cannacaps! They’re super quick and easy to make once you already have your infusion. First, warm it up a tiny bit (just enough to melt it), then take a small syringe and fill up some empty pill capsules. Seal those babies up and prepare for liftoff :)

If you’re vegan/vegetarian, they make vegetable-based capsules. Also, if size 00 capsules are too large for you to comfortably swallow, or if you want larger capsules so you don’t have to take as many, you can buy size 0 or 000 capsules (0 being the smallest) instead.

They’re super convenient! For each batch you make, start by taking one to determine how strong they are. I pulse my ABV through a coffee grinder before infusing it and skip the straining step to maximize efficacy, since taste isn’t an issue.

u/OGHamToast · 1 pointr/PlantedTank

Here's the [Osmocote] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00GTDGMHC?cache=6df3a3724bef34449ff2bc32b2988ed3&pi=SY200_QL40&qid=1410485658&sr=8-1#ref=mp_s_a_1_1). The packaging is different than what I have, but it's likely they've just changed it since I purchased the stuff. I put it in these capsules. You don't have to use vegetarian capsules, I just don't like the idea of having gelatin in my aquariums. If you fill the capsule, you should be able to get away with one near each amazon sword, and then spaced out about 6-8 inches apart. Closer if you have lots of heavy root feeders.

As for the last part of your question, I'm not sure what you mean. Are you asking if it effects the PH? I haven't had any issues with it effecting any water conditions at all. Be aware though if too much of this stuff is exposed to the water, you may have algae issues arise. Be sure to put it deep enough to not pop back up!

u/dronethis · 1 pointr/ADHD

Adderall XR can be removed from the capsule! Keep it tilted vertically to avoid spillage, and slowly squeeze/pull the top portion of the capsule off. You can do it over a bowl or plate just to be safe.

Then you can either take the beads by sprinkling them onto something like applesauce (or anything else, really). Or, you can pour the contents of each into empty veggie capsules, like these.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the links. I buy Hans Nieper’s brand from amazon (NCI Advanced Research Dr. Hans Nieper Lithium Orotate Tablets, 120 mg, 200 Count https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000VHCU8M).

I definitely have depression as a symptom and the LiOr has absolutely helped with that. Honestly though one thing I hope to get from a neurologist is a prescription drug to replace the lithium, as it’s an unregulated and relatively unstudied substance.
Also, a note about the Hans Nieper’s brand, is that the pills between bottles can be quite inconsistent. Some bottles will have thinner pills that are hard to split in half, some will have thicker pills that are powdery and break easily, some bottles will have medium thickness pills, but most bottles have some combination of 2 or 3 different thicknesses. It’s been a lifesaver though so I’ve been fearful of trying any other brand when this has been working for me.

u/bannana · 1 pointr/Supplements

For me the orotate seemed to do what it needed to in around 2 months after that it seemed the side effects weren't balanced out by the benefits. I've heard similar accounts from more than one person. I took it for around 2 months give or take, started with a quarter of a tab and worked up to a full tab since it made me feel pretty spaced out if I took too much. There aren't many brands out there the one I found (and was reccomended by others) was by Advanced Research. My goal in taking it was to decrease anxiety and to improve sleep though oddly it shouldn't be taken at night since it can keep you awake. And I say oddly here because it definitely has a calming effect but isn't the sleepy kind, I believe it worked with giving be better sleep. I now take it occasionally when I'm feeling anxious and it works as I take it much like magnesium does only with a different feeling.

you do understand that those drinks aren't even healthy, they use "natural fructose" to sweeten it, a.k.a. a "healthier" name for high fructose corn syrup, which is the cheapest sweetener possible. and they use "ultra purified reverse osmosis water", you can have a fucking reverse osmosis water machine in your own house for less than a starter pack of verve. it's just a ground up vitamin (a shitty one at that) mixed with mangosteen, how much does one can cost? $3-4? the companies cost per can is probably about .50 cents, if even, and you're paying higher than retail for it, then YOU have to resell it.

you're getting scammed bro, nutrition facts don't add up to what you're paying for.

maybe you should look up the definition of a [Ponzi scheme](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ponzi_scheme)

"A Ponzi scheme is a fraudulent investment operation that pays returns to its investors from existing capital or new capital paid by new investors, rather than from profit earned by the individual or organization running the operation. Operators of Ponzi schemes usually entice new investors by offering higher returns (a fucking BMW) than other investments, in the form of short-term returns that are either abnormally high or unusually consistent. The perpetuation of the high returns requires an ever-increasing flow of money from new investors to sustain the scheme.

Wanna know what's gonna happen to vemma very soon?
Since the scheme requires a continual stream of investments to fund higher returns, once investment slows down, the scheme collapses as the promoter starts having problems paying the promised returns (the higher the returns, the greater the risk of the Ponzi scheme collapsing). Such liquidity crises often trigger panics, as more people start asking for their money, similar to a bank run.

also there is NO WAY there is 25.2g of mangosteen in there. this powder that I use http://www.amazon.com/Amazing-Grass-Superfood-8-5-Ounce-Container/dp/B00112ILZM, is 8 grams per serving. And that's a heaping scoop of powder, 25g in a 245ml bottle would be undrinkable.

At 5’8” 150 lbs is a fine weight depending of course on your body fat percentage. 135 lbs IMHO is way too skinny for that height. If you feel your body fat percentage is high then you’re better off doing strength training to convert that fat to muscle and build bone density rather than just cut to get skinny. Muscle mass has a lot of health benefits and it’s easier to maintain then just being skinny. Hell with some solid strength training under your belt you could easily weight more than 150 and look fit. BTW, I’m 5’8” and weight 168 lbs with probably about 15% body fat.

P.S. since you don’t eat meat, I highly recommend you supplement with b12, that is if you don’t already. B12 is really really important especially as you are in recovery. I recommend Jarrow Formula Methylcobalamin sublingual as it is the most bioavailable form and a solid third party tested form. Not sure if you do eggs or dairy or your reasoning for avoiding meat (I respect your choice) but I would also recommend thinking about doing pescatarian, eating fish or at least bivalves. Bivalves especially are great sources of nutrients and pretty environmentally sound food source.

This isn't the right NAC right?

u/thomasmore71 · 1 pointr/bipolar

Hey, Emerald, I'm sorry you've been feeling like this. Tell us a little more about your weekly routines. Do you go to school, work?

I don't know if you've ever been on medication and how you feel about that, but even if you can't go in for a doctor soon (and I hope you do keep trying), you could try taking some NAC, which is over-the-counter and helps many people with their bipolar-related depression. I was in a very similar situation to yours and put myself on it (this is the one I use at home) and it helped me a lot. My doctor also told me that my bloodwork showed I was Vitamin D deficient, which is very common - especially this time of year - and I started a supplement to help me with that. Anyway, please think about trying the NAC to see if it helps. Here's an article on how it works in the body:
https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/evolutionary-psychiatry/201201/problems-i-have-nac

If it doesn't help, I would think about if there are family members who live in a more urban area where you could get a p-doc appointment. And then stay with them while getting help. This sounds drastic, but I often think that we wait far too long to take steps like this, which are far better than opting out of life entirely.

u/nwglassgrrl01 · 1 pointr/CPTSD

Ask your doc about NAC - it's N-Acetyl Cysteine, a amino acid.

My psych ARNP suggested it when the anti-depressant & all the other stuff I'm on didn't do the whole trick. It's been a game-changer for me (when I ran out, I definitely missed it).

She's also taking me off the Lexapro & putting me on Cymbalta, which is supposed to help with my chronic muscle tension and nerve pain.

Here's the Amazon link to the one I use:

https://www.amazon.com/NOW-NAC-600-250-Capsules/dp/B0013OUQ3S/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=now+nac+1000+mg+supplement+capsules&qid=1567051820&s=gateway&sr=8-3

I hope it's OK to post the link.

My naturopath is going to put me on low-dose Naltrexone (LDN) once I'm fully off the Lexapro & on the Cymbalta - apparently LDN is really good for a lot of conditions, including PTSD, panic disorder, dissociative disorder, anxiety (GAD), and depression, among a host of other conditions. I can't wait!

Here are a couple of links to information on LDN:

Yeah, Ive come to terms with my delusions, it can be scary some times. Im also agnostic or atheist, however these demons are pretty real to me. There is no fighting them because it has no effect.

When I do get to dream, it means my brain is processing my events in the day and storing them into memories. When I dont dream thats when I have short term memory problems due to this illness.

Thanks, will certainly look into it further. I am also interested in meditation and will be implementing it when this semester closes out and it makes sense to begin practicing. After doing research over the past 24 hours, I've come up with potential ideas for what I may begin using. If anyone can provide feedback or any notes on any of the following and dosage, it would be appreciated:

  • Bacopa Monnieri - I wasn't sure if it's important to take the extract or the whole herb in capsule form
  • L-Citrulline
  • NAC - I read a recent study suggesting NAC may break down the BBB, but the unhealthy rats used seem faulty
  • KSM-66
  • Chelated Magnesium - I read chelated is the best in this case

Each of these listed are all just ideas, I'm not sure what would be necessary and what wouldn't, just what I've gathered from reading. I have also considered Zembrine and I'm not sure if a dopamine supplement would be necessary for any reason, but if so I've looked at L-Theanine and Dopa Mucuna.

In researching all of this, I've also found multivitamins created specifically for anxiety. Something like this seems it could be promising. Am I better off creating my own stack and taking supplements individually, or would the multivitamin option be something worth considering? Does anyone have any experience?

Sounds to me like you're having some mild symptoms and blowing it out of proportion in your head. The mind can screw with you in weird ways. I think you should get some digestive enzymes and try taking one before every meal, it really helps break down the food and help your body process it better. I get these because I've always had issues eating large meals as well. It may be that you have some mild food allergies, but that can't stop you from eating, your body needs those nutrients! Maybe you could also try cutting out certain things to see if it helps, wheat, sugar, etc. Good luck!

Hi, I had my gallbladder removed earlier this year.

First, try eating a good quality yogurt that has probiotics. (I eat a chobani every day.) Sometimes the antibiotics they put you on at the hospital can kill all the good bacteria in the digestive tract and yogurt with probiotics can help restore that. You would be amazed how that can solve digestive issues. If that doesn't help, I have some digestive enzymes I take with particularly fatty meals to help process the fats. I like the NOW Super Enzymes. They have definitely helped out.

But try the easy, cheap, healthy way first and start eating yogurt for a couple of weeks and see if that helps out.

I have never heard of weight gain being a side effect of gallbladder removal. If it hasn't happened in the two years since your surgery, then I wouldn't worry about it. I've lost weight and it's only been 5 months since my gallbladder removal.

Not knowing what you're eating, I don't know what to tell you other than be honest about the quality of foods you're eating. Try not to eat over-processed foods, eat fresh produce and fresh meats.

If the Vanicream was working well for you, the safest thing to do would be to drop anything new you've added and go back to that until your face is back to baseline. In terms of Benton products, the Snail Bee High Content Skin toner is actually much more moisturizing than the Snail Bee essence, because that's what it's designed for: the toner's primarily for hydration, whereas the essence is primarily for inflammation.

Water-based hydrating toners like Snail Bee HC Skin, the Hada Labo lotions, this, or this tend to be less likely to cause acne than creams, since there's nothing in there to clog your pores with. The problem with them is that they're much less occlusive than creams, which means they don't hold moisture in well.

The way to fix this is to use a second, more occlusive product afterwards, basically as a seal. Since Vanicream Light has a lot of petrolatum, which is a good occlusive, what you might try is using a hydrating toner and then putting the Vanicream on top of it.

Are you using rosewater & glycerin? That's better than rosewater by itself! I like this one.

Also try Avene or La Roche Posay thermal spring water-- i use these throughout the day. If you want to be luxurious, I've heard Caudalie grape water is good.

A good strategy for preventing flaking is to layer some argan oil under your makeup or mix it into your moisturizer. If you put some mineral powder as the last step it won't look too oily.

The spareparts joque:

http://www.amazon.com/Spareparts-Joque-Harness-Black-Size/dp/B002DOJR1O

I HIGHLY recommend this. My wife didn't like pegging me for years because it was uncomfortable, took way too much time to get setup, and wasn't fun for her because once we did get going there was no "umph" behind her thrusts (loose harness) ... with this product its comfortable, goes on in seconds, and she can move naturally.

You’re most welcome, I would recommend a 3 points harness for a better motion check this one

I went through a couple of shitty harnesses from the local sex shop and then discovered the glory of the Spare Parts harness. Very adaptable, fits all kinds of dildos, super secure — very much like a rock climbing harness. Certainly not the most aesthetic harness but, by far, the best. Both of my male partners like 8-10” dildos and I feel like I have lots of control. Only downside: no vagina slit so you can’t be pleasures vaginally or anally unless you insert something in advance: SpareParts HardWear Joque (Double Strap) Harness - Black Size A (20-50inch hips) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002DOJR1O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_yY75BbP5Z64S0

Yeah I don't take a multivitamin, just a vitamin D. My urologist says that he has prescribed up to 50,000 IU a day, so you really can't overdue it.
He has also told me that the bodies metabolism changes over the course of 3-5 years, so you many not be stuck with them forever.

u/Cellophane_Girl · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I take it over the counter. Mine was 7 when my doctor checked it. I started taking 2,000 IU's everyday. Then when I got it rechecked 3 months later is was still really low, 27. My doctor said it should be AT LEAST 50. So I got the 5,000 IU pills that I found on amazon ( I take one everyday, except Wednesday I take 2) and after a couple weeks at that dose I felt soooo much better. I haven't gotten it rechecked yet (will get it checked in July when I go to the doctor again,) but I'm pretty confident it's in range now. I'd say go for the 5,000 IU pills once a day. These are the one's I use 240 days worth of pills for $12. And they work really well. Can't beat the price.

My mom has a prescription for hers. It was like 50,000 IU's once a week, but they were like $20 a pill. So she started taking the 5,000 IU ones everyday and said she felt a lot better that way, because getting it in everyday didn't give her mood swings like the once a week pill did.

Good luck getting your levels up. It can take a while but once you get them up, as long as you keep taking the pills everyday it will stay up and you will feel sooo much better. It's really amazing what a difference it makes.

I also take 1,000 mg of magnesium everyday because it helps with the vitamin D absorption (from what I've read) and I realized that when I started taking it the random muscle spasms that I had for YEARS all over my body stopped almost right away. My doctors never mentioned that it might be a magnesium deficiency they just gave me a muscle relaxer to take at night so the twitching wouldn't keep me awake, but even with that I still got twitches all over. A lot of people who are deficient in Vitamin D are also deficient in Magnesium, so you might want to get that checked as well. :)

u/Crotch_Snorkel · 1 pointr/TheRedPill

Chiropractor here: Vit D Deficiency is EXTREMELY common and taking an inexpensive oral supplement usually combined with vit K can help with all sorts of health issues. Personally I was diagnosed with psoriasis at age 19 and was immediately put on steroid creams for about 3 years. I ended up developing stretch marks as a result of the steroids and my psoriasis was no better. After noticing my rashes were improved in the summer time, I started researching auto immune diseases and vit d deficiency. I'm currently 30 yoa, take no RX for my psoriasis and have not had a rash since I was in my early 20's. If you live in a cold weather place (i live in Iowa) it is especially important to get it checked. Also when you do go out in the sun, make sure to wait at least 10-15 minutes before applying sunscreen as to not block any natural vit D you can get for free from the sun.

Edit: Here's the brand I like personally as not all supplements are the same.

Hey, you may already know this, and if so, sorry, but maybe it'll help someone else.

Vitamin D is super important to preventing and minimizing SAD, and it takes your body a really long time to build and use up VitD, so start getting as much in you now as you can. Lots of time in the sun for all the sunny days we have remaining is the best way to do this. Depending on how your body processes VitD, that might be able to get you to early November, maybe even late November.

After that VitD supplements are the way to go. You should start those around Daylight Savings Time. They can be gotten pretty cheap, and if you're only taking them leading up to and during the SAD season, you run less of a risk of VitD toxicity. (Consult your doctor, obviously, before taking any supplement, much less more than the recommended daily allowance.)

All that said, it's a great idea to have a therapist on hand as well. Best of luck in locating one. I wish I had more info for you there.

Source: My wife has SAD, her VitD levels are around 10 nanograms per mililiter in summer months without taking supplements (normal people have 20 nanograms per mililiter or higher), so she takes about 10,000 IUs a day during SAD months (normal people maybe take 600 IU a day).

EDIT: Just thought of https://www.chasebrexton.org/ They might be worth a call.

EDIT EDIT: You also might be able to access free/cheap counseling services if you're in college.

u/HPLoveshack · 1 pointr/NakedProgress

You're probably a lot better on D than most people (deficiency is extremely prevalent), but moderate supplementation like 5000 IU per day could be worthwhile. It's not very expensive off of Amazon or my personal preference iHerb.

Also it's perfectly fine to pop 10,000 IU every other day rather than worry about getting the perfect sized capsule for daily supplementation.

Hell, I think I even have a coupon code for like 5 bucks off at iHerb somewhere if you care about saving 5 bucks.

u/MrsSpice · 1 pointr/Hypothyroidism

My husband was deficient and uses this one 2-3 days per week. It keeps his levels in range. You want to be rechecked after you’re on it for awhile to be sure you’re not overdoing it. Low vitamin d caused my aunt to feel how she did when she had zero thyroid hormones (ablation).

A quick search on amazon led me to these Vit K tablets which seem good from the reviews https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004GW4S0G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_d89VAbTCWQDMB

I will also build myself up to 6k UI daily in Vit D alongside taking Vit K. Do you know if it’s possible to take too much Vit K? I’m assuming the Vit K that is not used is pissed out.

I’m not sure if my bones are frail or not (my feet get tired/ache from standing too long?) however strangely enough I grew around 2-3 inches in height last year (age 21). At the time I was lifting/playing football, eating well and getting a good amount of sun exposure (walks I took daily as exam revision breaks) so I’m not sure if this was all related. The height thing is what initially caught my attention from your original post.

Edit: I’ve just realised that the link above is for a Vit K complex.

On-cycle Macros

Protein: 200-220g

Fat: 80-100g

Carbs: 500-600g carbs

Fiber: 80-100g

Sodium: 2000-3000 mg

Potassium: 4000-5000 mg

Meal Timing

Breakfast at 9:30, lunch at 2, afternoon meal at 6:30, workout in the evening, and then eat about 2 meals worth between 10-midnight. Each meal has a balanced macro ratio. I almost never snack between meals.

Food

Staples: oatmeal, greek yogurt, milk, frozen berries, bananas, tilapia, cod, rice (brown, red, black, wild), lentils, quinoa, potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, asparagus, brussel sprouts, protein bars (Kirland & Fortix)

I tend to eat the same foods a lot for long periods. Last year it was a lot of chicken and bean burritos instead of fish and rice. Same shake for breakfast, afternoon, and night. Same lunch almost every weekday, often the same foods for dinner as lunch. Bacon and eggs on the weekends. On bulk though, especially this one, I ate more foods outside my staple, ate out more (but still not that much overall), and had more days where I didn't track foods and calories as precisely as I usually do.

I supplement a few things. Fish Oil 2x/day, vitamin D, lecithin, zinc & magnesium, cranberry concentrate, when on the anavar 500mg TUDCA before bed. 12.5mg ephedrine and 150mg caffeine each morning on weekdays (skip weekends).

Programming

Programming is probably my weak point. I work hard and push myself, particularly on progressing weight, but I don't do particularly high volume. I do think 5 work sets gave me better results than 4 work sets has been but I had lowered it to try and reduce my overall workout time.

On-Cycle

Warm-up

5 minutes of light cardio and 15 minutes of various stretches and body weight squats.

After lifting, 20 minutes of medium intensity steady-state cardio on an elliptical 2-3 times per week.

In the last half of the cycle there were weeks where I didn't feel ready to progress and repeated the last week's weight. Dips and chin-ups were more like every other week all along. Also, particularly towards the end, I used 1.25kg per week progression instead of 2.5kg on squat, bench, and row. Accessories I just upped whenever sets felt less than RPE 8.

I've been thinking about doing this but I've been dieting and exercising already, and I think I'll be doing a No-Bud November. In the absence of cannabis, I suggest you do a search on the other natural herbs that might help improve your quality of life as well.

I've tried 5-HTP, Cayenne Pepper (helps with workouts), Gingko Biloba, Red Chinese Ginseng, and some really awesome Omega-3 tablets from Amazon. Those things, in concert with a healthier lifestyle and exercise (and in my case, cannabis, though you can omit that), have resulted in me losing 13 pounds over the past 2 months, and getting my blood-pressure to the athletic level. I feel great, and I hope you do too.

As I learn more about Glycine, I'm starting to think it may have been the difference maker. It's relieved chronic stress that I was stuck under the past few years.

I'd also reccomend avoiding strict, low-calorie diets. Don't avoid or cut out carbs.

Which brand do you take? I take 5000iu daily in mornings:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00GB85JR4/ref=mp_s_a_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1519420561&sr=8-3&keywords=vitamin+d&dpPl=1&dpID=61X2dIACG9L&ref=plSrch#immersive-view_1519420912367

But I'm realizing this is a shit brand; they offer free bottles for good reviews. Fuck companies who do that. So I've doubled the dose with k2 to get any benefits

I am in the U.S.
I am curious - what led you to recommend this particular brand? Also - would you think a powder may be more cost effective? Perhaps like this: BulkSupplements Magnesium Citrate Powder (1 Kilogram) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GW5NX8I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_d.UsDb81W644V

u/Phorensick · 1 pointr/keto

To get an even number of grams of magnesium I started with 33 portions

33 grams of sodium = 81 grams of table salt

6.6 grams of potassium = 17.2 g potassium citrate

2 grams of magnesium = 13.3 g magnesium citrate

Then I looked at prices

$3.50/1000g of table salt (40% sodium)

$20/1000g of potassium citrate (38.3% potassium)

$19/1000g of magnesium citrate (15% magnesium)

So $42.50 (same price as 30 day supply of LMNT recharge) will get you...

400 portions of sodium

58 portions of potassium

75 portions of magnesium

So if you want to spend an afternoon up to your elbows in various white powder you'll get almost 2 months supply for the same price.(with salt and magnesium left over)

Prices were what came up here. YMMV:

I was digging around because I'm tired of spending tons of money on magnesium supplements that may or may not have a dubious - at most - effect on me.

I previously bought this Bulk Supplements citrate salt form on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GW5NX8I

It's a great price for buying in bulk, especially if you get it by the kilogram (!!!) I only got 250g and it lasted me a good month or two, but it seemed chalky, didn't dissolve in water at all, which almost made me wonder if I got the carbonate form by mistake, as I think I saw mentioned somewhere in one of the reviews. But regardless it didn't seem to do much for me anyway...my tolerance stayed as ~eh~ as ever, and some nights I had trouble sleeping, while others I slept like a baby (until noon, whoops). Basically inconclusive. Of course I wasn't always taking it as directed which also throws a wrench in things, but the point is this mag didn't really do much for me as far as I could tell.

I was looking into buying some bulk gylcinate or gluconate off purebulk.com, until I realized the gluconate only has a tiny fraction of the elemental magnesium in it as even the citrate (because the gluconic acid is so heavy). So you end up getting way less for your money! Even if it was "better absorbed", it's still such a huge quantitative difference that I'm not sure I'd be better off.

Enter the article of the OP: It argues that, because of precisely that, you'd be better off using Oxide because it contains so much more magnesium to begin with. The thing that *really* matters is how strong your stomach acid is, to be capable of absorbing it. I realized a big part of adderall's magnesium-depleting effects is probably due to the appetite suppression, which I predict (don't quote me on it though) manifests in shutting down some of the hormones necessary for stomach acid production.

Just thought it was interesting, wanted to contribute to the body of knowledge on the subject.

Salt: (Sodium Chloride) right from the Grocery store.

Potassium: Lite Salt from the Grocery store if you have it or Potassium Chloride: Amazon US

Magnesium: Magnesium Citrate: Amazon US

That's what I'm taking and it does alright for me! Mix it in a big bottle and sip on it throughout the day!

In 16 oz of water (I like carbonated water) and a little lemon juice (for kidney stones), I add the following:

• 1/4 tsp potassium

• 1/8 tsp magnesium

• 1/8 tsp calcium

• 1/8 tsp seal salt.

I drink a few of these a day, one for breakfast, one for lunch, one in the evening, sometimes more.

Hey girl, I'm there with you! Sucralose gives me migraines so I can't have it either. I like the BCAA capsules (even though they're large, they're something my body can handle without headaches) and I also use Quest protein powders (contain less than 2% Sucralose and I find this doesn't really affect me) and protein bars. You could also try using collagen powders that are unflavored like Vital Proteins unflavored, or even do the Isopure zero carb protein powder, which is unflavored/unsweetened.

I don't take preworkout, so unfortunately I don't have a lot of advice to offer there, especially if you're looking for caffeine free. Have you tried capsules instead of powders for these? Here's one I just found online: https://www.bodybuilding.com/store/evlution-nutrition/pumpmode.html

There is a BCAA powder from XTend that is free from artificial sweeteners. The GNC person helped me find it. Sorry!

  1. It's a powdered animal protein--much like gelatin--that supports joint health, and helps with hair, skin, and nails. Totally unflavored. Can be used in cooking or it dissolves in hot or cold liquids. I swear by it. Here's what I buy.
  2. Two scoops is one serving per the label, which is 20 grams.

I tried a couple whey powders and just could not stand the taste they added. That seems to really be a personal preference thing though.

Collagen dissolves easily and mixes great in an immersion blender. It's more expensive and doesn't add a ton of protein through. I just wanted my BPC to have some amount of protein.

Are you taking a collagen supplement? You won't see the effects immediately, but I tore my ACL back in August and started taking it to aid in my recovery. Who knows if it's helped my ACL but my hair / skin / nails look amazing. It's also an easy way to pad your diet with 10 extra grams of protein. This is the one i'm using - one scoop in my tea in the mornings - it dissolves completely and is tasteless. A word to the wise though, it can cause stomach upset at first, so start with a tiny bit and build up to a full scoop. https://www.amazon.com/Hydrolyzed-Collagen-Peptides-Dietary-Supplement/dp/B00XQ2XGAA?th=1

I feel ya though. I'm also cutting and it's a chore. Going to bed hungry is no fun but the last few months were pretty indulgent for me so I keep trying to remember how much I enjoyed those and telling myself it was worth it to have to do this now! Hang in there.

I've been taking collagen daily for about two months now. This is the one I use.

I started taking it to help with hair growth and hair strength. I'm not yet sure if it has helped with that or if it has helped my skin, but my nails are really strong now! They used to break or peel as they grew, and I trimmed off the damaged parts. Now I actually need to trim them or else they'd keep growing on their own.

Oh, too bad this isn't a thing.

u/prosperouslife · 0 pointsr/Supplements

My statement is correct. You're confusing actual weight with a "serving".

The label must meet a FDA labelling standard which shows the % of the RDA in a "serving" but a serving size is a variable. A serving can be anything from one tablet to the entire bottle.

The weight of a serving of magnesium oxide that contains 100% of the RDA is different than the weight of a serving of magnesium citrate that contains 100% of the RDA.

A quarter teaspoon of mag oxide contains as much magnesium as two huge tablets of citrate, plus the binders and fillers.

Different companies format their labels differently too. Manufacturers can format their label differently and still meet the FDA requirement.

So yes two different brands listing 600mg of X should contain 600mg of X then additional weight to account for the compounds actual weight.

But consider these two labels; NOW Mag Oxide vs Solgar Mag citrate. Yes, both show that a serving is 100% of the RDA but they indicate that in different ways.

https://www.amazon.com/Now-Supplements-Magnesium-Oxide-8-Ounce/dp/B0010B8CBW

vs

https://www.amazon.com/Solgar-Magnesium-Absorbable-Promotes-Suitable/dp/B012T97SDQ/

Look at the shipping weights for each product. The Citrate is 1.1 pounds the Oxide is 8 ounces. Yet the Oxide, which weighs half the amount of the citrate contains over 400 "servings"

There are also different grades of a compound. There exists high elemental magnesium in high quality mag citrate vs low elemental mag in low quality mag citrate, etc. different densities of elemental magnesium across various grades of the compound.

Another example is Lithium Orotate. The labels list the total weight not the elemental lithium weight. In fact, that's notated on the label of most lithium orotate supplements, as well as many other supplements

"Lithium (as lithium Orotate) 120mg (4.6mg as elemental lithium)"

This.

r/nofap changed my life. I was 22 when I stopped masturbating. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do.

I just stopped going online altogether as there is temptation everywhere. You are literally just a few clicks or keystrokes away from HD videos of the nastiest and most ungodly sexual acts that man's wicked mind can imagine. It was easier for me to just turn off the internet rather than deal with the urges to google "anal gang bang" or "cumslut milf" and go to Pornhub or Redtube.

At first, it seemed impossible. I got very anxious and crabby all the time. I couldn't sleep. I got headaches. Ugh. Honestly, it was awful.

But after few weeks, and steady doses of lithium orotate that you mentioned, my sex drive diminished to almost zero. Within 3 months, I couldn't even get an erection anymore.

4 years later, I couldn't be happier. I've gained quite a bit of weight and I have problems with frequent urination, which I'm told are side effects to the LO, but I can humbly say I feel like God has helped me conquer the lust that once conquered and discouraged me.
