$20 ones.

Seriously... I have these two and they sound great:

https://amzn.com/B00OVX7M3U (it's $10.99 now!)

https://amzn.com/B013U54BFG

Edit: Don't expect them to be comparable to a pair of $500 headphones, but if you're not an audiophile, they are definitely worth the price.

Can't go wrong with a pair of Sennheiser CX300's http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-CX300-B-Earbuds-Black/dp/B000E6G9RI

u/Anaweir · 20 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

I bought a set of wireless earbuds and put the phone on the ground near me. It always fell out of my pocket.

Edit: I bought these, cheap and work perfectly -

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0756T7R5T/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/SwervingNShit · 15 pointsr/running

These MPow headphones have done me well 6 months of sweat, races, and rain and they're still working pretty great. I've been a little rough with them, ripping them off when I couldn't get to a good running song or when my MP3 runs out of batteries and they're still going strong.

Speaking of battery, unless you're ultrarunning, you'll more than likely be good with the battery life. I've only used them consecutively for ~ 5 hours so I can tell you from personal experience, they're good for at least that long.

Please don't spend $100 or whatever Jaybirds cost, personally, I feel like it'd be a waste of money.

u/ScaryBee · 15 pointsr/running

Plantronics Backbeat Fit ~$95 : http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-BackBeat-Fit-Bluetooth-Headphones/dp/B00KJLMBSO/

Have gone through a few other wireless options and these have been the best so far - fit is great, sound is ok, looks hot.

u/Gorillamedic17 · 14 pointsr/Fitness

The Wirecutter has good run down on the options: http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-wireless-exercise-headphones/

I went with Plantronics BackBeat Fit and love them. More of my time is spent walking/cycling/running than in the gym, so open-air headphones were a must. I like having situation awareness. I get that I give up some bass and audio quality, but I've got high quality studio monitors for when I'm listening to music on purpose.

These are comfortable, stay in even while running or exercising intensely, have a great battery life, and intuitive controls.

u/club_med · 13 pointsr/Rowing

I killed multiple $50 pairs of headphones sweating in to them before getting some Jaybirds which I've had now for three seasons of winter training and a lot of travel too. You can get the same ones I have on Amazon for around $80 right now, and the X2s as well.

u/o0oo0o000o0 · 12 pointsr/ADHD

> I don't know how to get my family to stop watching so much TV.

You can't. This is true for most problems involving others. :(

What is your budget? There are some under $100 with great reviews. Like these:

https://www.amazon.com/i9BT-Cancelling-Headphones-Technology-Connectivity/dp/B010TY3LZ2?ie=UTF8&tag=headphonesaddict-20

http://www.soundguys.com/best-noise-cancelling-headphones-100-7142/

If you decide to get one someday, make sure that you get "active noise cancelling" headphones. If they just say "noise cancelling", "noise isolating" etc., they are not the ones you want.

If you have $50, take a look into this one:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004K09H32/ref=psdc_12097478011_t1_B00O66PYFA

I haven't used that one, though. I got an old model from Phiaton pretty cheap, so I was about to bring you the link but it's no longer available.

Good luck!

u/_OVERHATE_ · 12 pointsr/headphones

In order of price:

  • Creative Aurvana Live! (NOT THE LIVE 2).

  • Audio Technica ATH-WS1100

  • Phillips Fidelio X2 The Fidelios L1 are also good on bass.

  • Beyerdynamic DT770

  • V-MODA M100

  • Massdrop x Fostex TH-X00 (Mahogany have the best bass, Purplehearts have the most bass, Ebony have the most controlled bass)

  • Fostex TH900 Simply, the best bass headphone money can afford. Its craaaaaazy.

There are others that people like to recommend the old Denons, specially the D2000 that can be found cheaper in Ebay, but its a pain in the butt to find, same with the MDR-XB1000.

Some people will also mention some JVC ones, but i havent had the chance to try them. Btw some people will recommend the HE400i and please no stay away from them. Stay away from Planars in general if you want Basshead levels of Bass, the LCD-2 Pre-Fazor being the only exception (i tried it like a year ago so i dont remember a lot but i liked it).
u/allstarfart · 9 pointsr/bestoflegaladvice

Have you ever tried this style? cos I can't wear normal ear buds either - they're all too big and very painful - but these ones barely go down the ear at all and they work just fine, on the smallest tips.

u/mizzousaphone · 9 pointsr/gadgets

If you like the in-ear kind with the rubber tips, these are fantastic. Great sound (bass response is especially impressive, better than any earbuds I've used), and the twist-to-fit design makes them very small and comfortable. I wear them all day at work with no problem.

u/TehMascot · 9 pointsr/iphone

I get about 3-4 days worth of heavy usage out of these before needing a recharge.

https://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-HBS-750-Bluetooth-Wireless/dp/B00FO0IHMY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1475074541&sr=8-1&keywords=lg+bluetooth+headset

I guess iphone7 users have lost their fucking minds then.

u/nowarninglabel · 8 pointsr/webdev

Yes, as does pretty much everyone else in the office.

I suggest Sennheiser in-ear headphones. My previous pair lasted 3 years before I dropped them in my tea cup (I still can't figure out how I managed to do this), and recently bought a new pair.

Co-workers comment on how they must really work because they try to talk to me and can't get my attention because the ear buds have blocked out the noise.

u/Paremo · 8 pointsr/ShitAmericansSay

But what is the product?! Why is there no (obvious) link back to its page? Why, Amazon?

E: It's these, but going to the userpage to see the picture and then searching for sennheiser earbuds to look through the thumbnails doesn't seem like the correct way to do it. (Thank god our buddy ben is a fucking normie that bought the third best selling sennheiser earbuds.)

u/d0dgerrabbit · 8 pointsr/gadgets

http://www.amazon.com/Technica-ATH-ANC23-QuietPoint-Noise-Cancelling-Headphones/dp/B004K09H32

I've found these earbuds to be satisfactory. I wear them when I run near traffic and it makes things a lot more peaceful.

u/ralph-ey · 8 pointsr/iphone

I have the first gen Jaybird Bluebuds http://www.amazon.com/Jaybird-Bluebuds-Bluetooth-Headphones-Discontinued/dp/B00B6ZGSVI
They are the old first gens but they work well, sound great, and fit wonderfully, and don't cost that much.

u/_cool_beans_ · 8 pointsr/xxfitness

I really, really like the Plantronics backbeat fit. They stay in my ears great, even when I jump rope or do sprints. I also wear them in the gym and are comfortable lying on a bench or doing core work on the floor. I started with a pair like these with the long wire, and hated them. That wire that drapes on your neck? Yeah it bounces with every step and you get an annoying noise in your ears each time it bounces.

u/djc0 · 8 pointsr/running
  1. Plantronics BackBeat Fit BT headphones are pretty awesome: https://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-BackBeat-Fit-Bluetooth-Headphones/dp/B00KJLMBSO?th=1
u/igotthis_notreally · 8 pointsr/xxfitness

If you're using your phone for music, try bluetooth earphones! Amazon have some by MPOW (which I have) and honestly they're so great. I picked up mines around $30. I don't have any comfortable pockets for my phone, so I like to just leave it near I'm working out.

u/joeTaco · 8 pointsr/Android

I agree and I don't even go as fancy as you with my earphones. I have this $90 pair of wired earphones and they sound fantastic to me, yet they're cheap enough that I won't be too sad if I lose or break them. I tried this $150 pair of Bose wireless buds, some of the more expensive widely available wireless ones; and I ended up returning them because sound quality was noticeably worse than my 1mores, the fit was crap, and the mic was so poor-quality as to be absolutely useless.

u/15feet · 7 pointsr/Fitness

This is what I use. 40usd

Anker SoundBuds NB10 Bluetooth Earbuds Sweatproof, Secure Fit Sport Wireless Headphones with Enhanced Bass for Work Out, Running, BMX, and Boxing (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IUP89LS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_2-wRzbJQ7ZWFZ

u/massimo6274 · 7 pointsr/hiphopheads

Bruh. Get some different headphones. I like my samsung headphones, and I just switched to some cheap sennheiser earbuds. Day and night. But the samsung ones are actually built pretty well for some headphones that came with a phone.

http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-CX200-Twist-to-Fit-Earbuds/dp/B001EZUQ5E?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00

These are the ones I have but they were about $20 when I bought them.

u/ajlemm · 7 pointsr/running

Jaybird Bluebuds X are a little outside of your price range at $99 but I have had these for 3 years now and swear by them. Great sound and 8 hours of battery life easily. The silicone tips they come with don't stay in my ears very well so I bought some foam Comply tips that make an excellent combination.

u/mrmojorisingi · 7 pointsr/onebag

I believe they're these [Bose Quiet Comfort] (https://www.amazon.com/Bose-QuietComfort-Acoustic-Cancelling-Headphones/dp/B00X9KV0HU/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1503275133&sr=1-5&keywords=bose+noise+cancelling+headphones) headphones. They were a graduation present...didn't realize they were so expensive :P

Amazing for travel and the case is big enough to carry them plus a USB cable. On the plane, the backpack goes in the overhead, Kindle in the hand, phone + headphone case in my pockets.

u/anarchman · 6 pointsr/AskReddit

I suggest the opposite approach. You know they are going to break, so just go to DealExtreme and buy 10 pairs of those and then no worries.

That said, I bought these Sennheiser CX300-B Earbuds from Amazon and they have been awesome. I've had them for 6 months and the sound quality is good and despite me torturing them (I really treat headphones bad, not just dropping and sleeping on top of but also biting them, etc.) and they still work great.

u/AFChimpanse · 6 pointsr/audiophile

They're great but be sure to explore other options

The Vanatoo's T1 for an example has a lot more features at the same price

u/cal92scho · 6 pointsr/GYM

TaoTronics at Amazon are what I use, they've lasted me two years, great quality and the battery is still trucking, and cheap enough that it's no big deal to get another pair.

u/quantumcorrect · 5 pointsr/BuyItForLife

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the TaoTronics:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bluetooth-Earphones-TaoTronics-Headphones-Magnetic-Black/dp/B017I9CBPC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1523807312&sr=8-3&keywords=TaoTronics

The magnets allow you to hang them around your neck without having to worry about them falling off, which is more convenient than you might think.

I second Anker. Two of my favorite sets of earphones are made by them.

linked my faves below:

u/mattxb · 5 pointsr/WeAreTheMusicMakers

I'm really happy with Sennheiser CX300-B, and they are relatively cheap.

u/mapin · 5 pointsr/audiophile

Vanatoo is getting rave reviews, built in DAC and tons of other features.

http://www.amazon.com/Vanatoo-Transparent-Powered-Speakers-Black/dp/B0080K2KUK

u/RockyMcNuts · 5 pointsr/Fitness

Interesting...I find they sound good, and amazing for $18. My other cans are top of the line Sennheisers and in my youth I could pretty easily tell quality from crap. I would say either you got a crap set, or my ears aren't what they used to be.

It's true that the in-ear phones, when you rub them against clothes, you hear swishing. I use them more on stationary bike and lifting weights.

Before these I used the Sennheiser twist to fit, looks like they are discontinued in favor of these below. But I did break a few so liked the idea of going with something cheap and decent.

http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-CX-685-Adidas-Headphones/dp/B0094R4POC/ref=pd_sim_sbs_e_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=15QK241G5MNDHRQRFWWN

> the headphone jack started getting finicky and would think headphones weren't plugged in when they were if they got bumped just a little bit. This stops the music and is very annoying. I listen on my phone a lot so it was a serious situation for me

You could've invested ~30$ in a Bluetooth headset (like such: www.amazon.com/dp/B00C1CGZT0). No more breaking headphone jacks.

u/bcmanucd · 5 pointsr/gadgets

Yes, there are portable battery-powered bluetooth receivers with a 3.5mm audio jack. I just bought this one from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C1CGZT0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Haven't used it yet. I'll report back in a few days.

u/MadtownMaven · 5 pointsr/xxfitness

I use these headphones with my iPhone SE. They've been great. This morning I did a card deck workout with burpees, jump rope, box jumps, and pushups and they stay in place with a good connection to my phone sitting off to the side. Then I did a 2 mile run with them and again, they worked great. I also weight lift with them on and no troubles there. I also wear them throughout the day at work listening to podcasts. They last about 8 hrs of solid play before I have to recharge them.

u/notdeadyet01 · 5 pointsr/GooglePixel

https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-Momentum-Ear-Android-version/dp/B00N3RFFV6/

Sennheiser In ear Momentums. Great sound and the controls work on android.

Bought these about a year ago and I absolutely love them. Well worth the price.

u/vfxrishi · 5 pointsr/Nexus6P

I'm assuming you're looking for earbuds and not over-ear or on-ear headphones.

If you're looking for a cheap pair, I'd suggest the Sony Extra Bass earbuds ($35-50 depending on where you buy them from). I'm using these right now. They don't have a volume rocker and the play/pause button is somewhat spongy but you get what you pay for.

If you're looking for a more premium pair, I'd suggest the Sennheiser Momentums ($75-99). I don't own these but I've heard excellent reviews.

u/rbaile28 · 4 pointsr/apple

I almost always pick up a pair of these whenever they drop to $20, best bang for the buck by far.

u/TLGJames · 4 pointsr/RagenChastain

Generally you don't want anything covered in fabric to get coated in sweat. Headphones like those, get so gross so fast, and covered with salt.

It's taken me years, but I finally found a pair of headphones that work great for me. I used to go through a pair every 6 months because of some flaw with them. (I'm looking at you, Yurbuds, fuck you!)

http://smile.amazon.com/Sennheiser-CX-685-Adidas-Headphones/dp/B0094R4POC?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00

u/reguser1 · 4 pointsr/running

I was surprised today with the Jaybird Bluebuds X as a reward for finally finding my groove and running consistently (5x/wk versus maybe 1x/wk). I think I figured out the right fit and can't wait to test them out tomorrow. I'm happy to say today is the last I'll have to wear earbuds that are always falling out (looking at you, Apple).

Additionally I am still pretty happy with my Nike Flyknit Lunar2 in obnoxious orange. I've been wearing them for about a year with no issue.

u/Oddish · 4 pointsr/gadgets

I can recommend Sony SBH20. Inexpensive but very nice, and you can use whichever headphones you like, if you're not satisfied with the included ones.

u/AlanRoberts91 · 4 pointsr/gadgets

That wasn't the same thing AdioSiks had linked to. These aren't as cheap: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C1CGZT0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_inVRybEQY12A0

u/WEEEEGEEEW · 4 pointsr/audiobooks

LG tone for me. 12 hours of playback, love how it sits on the collar so im not pawing at my ears for buttons, and I've had them for a year of a half at 30 hours plus use a week. Great investment so i dont continally have to buy replacement wired headphones, allows ease of movement while at a computer, and has revolutionized work for me

u/MUSIC_PIRATE · 4 pointsr/gadgets

My daily work earbuds are the Sennheiser Momentum'sand at home I have the Audio Technica ATH-M50x, on top of the numerous other sets of headphones and earbuds that I've used along the way.

u/JJTheJetPlane5657 · 4 pointsr/minimalism

My mom has these headphones and the "noise canceling" aspect actually works even without an audio input.

So any kind of noise canceling headphones that have a separate apparatus to process inverting the sound should work without any kind of audio while still helping you block out people's talking.

u/Lepord829371 · 4 pointsr/headphones

I know [these] (https://www.amazon.com/Mpow-Bluetooth-Headphones-Wireless-Sweatproof/dp/B013U54BFG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1492525941&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=mpow+cheetah&psc=1) look ugly, and have fairly crappy sound, but they are wireless, cheap, and will not fall out/off. I got one of these for a gift, and used them for a little while, and they would never fall out. Range and battery were pretty good. Something like 40 feet, and 10-12 hours of battery.

u/sevendoc · 4 pointsr/london

I use these Taotronics on my tube commute everyday and they are fantastic for sound and noise cancelling for their price bracket- and a steal at £22.

My first dip into the realm of /r/headphones resulted in me picking up some 1MORE Triple Drivers. For $80, they're out of OP's budget, but I believe they are 100% worth the buy.

I'm sitting here, 3 years later, listening to STAX 3100's at home and 1MORE Quad Drivers when I'm out. Worth every penny.

Anker SoundBuds NB10

I've been using them for over 2 months now in the muggy, humid, 75F dewpoint mornings in FL and they haven't fallen out of my ears once. They are great. Not to mention they're only $40.

I wear https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X9KV0HU at work, and while they definitely don't come anywhere close to totally canceling out speech, they do a good enough job that I can focus even with a conversation happening right behind me. (Honestly, very low noises like footsteps or heavy doors have been more of a problem than human voices for me, although those also have the property you described where they aren't regular.)

u/tatertot255 · 3 pointsr/funny

i use these: https://www.amazon.com/Mpow-Headphones-Waterproof-Behind-Ear-Cancelling/dp/B013U54BFG

because they are ~ 20$ and they have held up pretty well - i had to replace them 2 times because of malfunctioning - once becasue of sweat ( i think) and once because they broke - i replaced one pair because i lost them (side note - i just found them in my winter jacket pocket this morning) but the price point hasnt made it too bad to replace and they seem to last a really long time before i have to replace them. also i really like them because there is some tension on the band and they dont move around or fall out.

I settled on some MPOW Cheetah’s for wireless headphones. Audio quality is surprisingly good for Bluetooth, and at $25 I wasn’t breaking the bank if I ended up hating them.

My biggest beef with them is uncoiling them. I can never seem to do it right.

u/BrianFantannaAction8 · 3 pointsr/audiobooks

I've been using these for a few months and love them. Sounds great, charge lasts, battery like is good, standard charge micro usb, the "memory" foam style earbuds as well as silicon, and the magnet feature for when they aren't in your ears.

Would by again.

True, but it's not worth the $160 price tag apple gives it.

If I were spending that much I'd get this

u/juandiolea · 3 pointsr/HeadphoneAdvice

Yes both models, only difference is that the Bose Soundsport Free has no chords therefore it is truly wireless (like AirPods) and the regular
Bose Soundsport Wireless has a little chord from left piece to right piece but is also wireless.

And to answer your other question: yes I have tried foam tips, but in my opinion those are better for complete isolation like on musical recording environment or for critical listening with IEMs! Also I don’t know any sport headphones that come with foam tips since foam gets wet and little bits may fall from the material.

u/DarienStegosaur · 3 pointsr/GooglePixel

The dongle contains a DAC because the phone not have one built-in. The DAC is required and your headphones would not work without it. The dongle could be a little bit smaller, but not by much.

Get Bluetooth headphones.

Best first pair:

Anker Soundbuds Slim+ or Anker Soundbuds Curve

Both of those are under $30 USD, comfortable, water resistant, support aptX, sound great, and have good battery life. I have not seen any other headphones with that many features at such a low price.

Join the club. I love my Sennheiser earbuds, but the right channel has a tendency to suddenly lose about 80% of its volume after a few months of light to moderate use. The problem is consistent and repeatable enough that I figure there must be some design flaw in the connection between the two sides.

Fortunately they came with a 2-year warranty so I just keep sending them back whenever they go bad. I think it's happened three times so far (bought them a year ago), so the total return postage is approaching the amount I paid for them originally. (Still worth it; I'm no audiophile, but these are miles better than the standard iPod headphones and that's good enough for me.)

u/[deleted] · 3 pointsr/Bass

I'm a fan of these. Look at this frequency response graph, it's pretty good for bass.

Klipsch S4 are pretty much the top rated buds for the money in this segment. Read the Amazon reviews and decide whether they're worth more than 2x the cost of a decent bud like the Sennheiser CX300

u/zaxor0 · 3 pointsr/EDC

they are these, http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-CX300-B-In-Ear-Headphone-Version/dp/B000E6G9RI. One day they dropped down to like $20 so I picked them up, they sound pretty great.

u/MultiUseAccount · 3 pointsr/Frugal

Sennheiser has good inexpensive headphone options for $20-30. Try either the CX300 in-ear headphones or HD202 DJ headphones. I've owned a set of HD202s and they are a great value for $20, and I've heard great things about the CX300 as well. They make more expensive models too that are great as well (currently I use a set of $100 HD555s).

u/SaladAndEggs · 3 pointsr/CasualConversation

I've used Sennheiser CX200 for 4+ years now with no issues.

Also, you can buy replacement rubber tips in different sizes for cheap. Find the size that works for you. Makes a huge difference.

What do you guys think about using headphones in place of earplugs?

To clarify, I am talking about the noise-isolating earbud type (like this). If you haven't used these, they block out quite a bit of noise. Even with no music on, I could not hear and understand anyone talking to me. Also I'm not talking about blaring music on 100%, just enough to hear. I mean on longer trips, not city driving.

I don't currently own earplugs. On one of my last longer trips, I was trying out a GPS app and had one earbud in. When I got off, I could tell a very noticeable difference in hearing from one ear to the other (the exposed ear was temporarily "desensitized" to softer noises).

u/wanderlusterer · 3 pointsr/GalaxyNote3

I like the Sennheiser earbuds that I bought. I've had them for about 5 months now, and they've been pretty durable. I did not think they would hold up as much as they have for the cost, but I think they're really worth it!

u/savelatin · 3 pointsr/CasualConversation

That's exciting! I love to travel, and flying is an amazing experience although it can be annoying sometimes. I've not done a flight that long before, but I've done like 12 hour flights. You're going to want to sleep a lot, so bring anything that will make that comfortable - sleeping pills, a mask, earplugs. Noise canceling headphones are wonderful on planes too, in fact that's where they work the best because of the droning noise from the plane. If you use regular headphones, you often have to turn them up all the way which isn't good for your ears. You don't have to spend a lot, I use ones similar to these.

You can't bring food or drink to the airport, but you can buy stuff after security and bring it on the plane. It's a good idea to stock up on snacks/drinks, because although they'll feed you on the plane, it'll be on their schedule and you might get hungry. You can bring an empty water bottle and fill it up at a drinking fountain after security. Also, chew gum to help with your ears popping.

You can usually pick your plane seat on the airline's website. Some you have to wait until you check in (24 hours before your flight) but I believe most now let you do it anytime. You can find the type of plane you'll be flying in on the airline's website, and then look up the plane on Seat Guru. It basically reviews the seats. At a minimum, you'll want to avoid middle seats on a flight that long, unless you're sitting with people you know so you can sit together. You can usually pay to upgrade your seat to one with more leg room (like the exit row), which may be worth it on a flight that long.

Good luck!

Edit: You said you were nervous, and I think the most nerve racking things is turbulence and landing/taking off. The plane will bounce around some, and that's completely normal! What I do to help keep myself calm is watch the flight attendants. They do this all the time, and seeing them perfectly normal, usually with bored looks on their faces makes me feel better if there's a lot of turbulence!

So, I don't have an iPhone but I do have a Samsung Galaxy S5 which is a bit bigger of a phone than my previous one.

I started to get scared that I would end up breaking my phone by leaving it my pocket especially doing any dumbbell work (where I had to rest the dumbbells on my thighs) or olympic lifts.

So I purchased this device off of Amazon.

First of all, congrats on getting your butt off the couch! :)

The headphone thing is a problem for a lot of people but if you have a little bit of money to spend I can recommend 2 good options to fix this.

  1. Headphones that 'clip' onto your ear like these: http://www.amazon.com/Philips-Adjustable-Headphones-SHS4700-28/dp/B003DKL57G
I own a pair of these and they're not bad, but if you're sensitive about frequency balance you might need to EQ them some to get a clear sound.

  2. Bluetooth headphones: http://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-Bluetooth-Stereo-Headset/dp/B00FO0IHMY
I just ran with a pair of these and it was fine. They're very lightweight but if you are sweating buckets at this point it might be best to not do these. They are sweat resistant but you can't go pouring water on your head or anything with these on.

I'd also look at getting an armband for your phone so you're not holding it. I also recommend using Runkeeper to program your runs and track your progress. But do NOT go to the week 2 workouts if you are still struggling with week 1. It's ok to repeat weeks if you can't complete them. Personally I struggled with weeks 5-7 and repeated all of them at least once but I finally made it. Hang in there! Keep us updated on your progress!

I frequently rely on things to adjust my hearing. Noise bothers the shit out of me.

I have a wireless bluetooth stereo headset. It connects to my phone. I can listen to music, or talk on the phone. Damn thing is awesome. Standing in line in a bank and the incessant babbling from other customers getting to you? No problem! Pop in the headphones, play Rage Against the Machine on the phone, and you are in your own little world. There is nothing like playing "This is the End" by the Doors over and over and over while shopping at Costco. It really changes the dynamic of the experience.

Or you can just shove them in your ears without music as a quick buffer against inane prattling from other humans/noisy machines.

---

I've got little foam earplugs. Each is a small foam cylinder/hot dog shape. You squeeze it in your fingers, shove in ear. It expands and really blocks the sound. You might need to get used to them, but once you do they are awesome for sleeping.

You can buy bags of these cheap - like a couple of bucks. They are semi-disposable. There apparently are different grades too - I once got a hold of some industrial ones with super-sound-suppression abilities that made me feel like I was deaf. It was a little freaky at first.

Some aren't foam - they are rubber. Some people like these better I guess.

Look in health and beauty isles, tool isles, or hunters/shooters use them too.

---

Speaking of shooters... I also have a few pairs of "headphone" sound suppressors. They come in all kinds of sizes and options and are a little easier to deal with than earplugs.

---

There is a new generation of devices available, and more to come. They play sound BUT they have tiny microphones near your ears that pick up ambient sound. That soundwave is sent to processors that instantly invert the wave and play it back on the earbuds. This is noise cancellation.

I don't own any of these, but I've had my eye on them for some time. There are a few kickstarter ones that I may buy at some point. My hope is they would allow me to control sound with my phone. For example - I could be in a noisy restaurant and adjust the headphones to play the sound from the person I am talking to, but block out all the other noisy shit in the room. Man that would kick ass.

u/puterTDI · 3 pointsr/iphone

sure, I have two sets...one for work and one for home.

Both are LG Tones.

One model is HBS-750: http://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-HBS-750-Bluetooth-Wireless/dp/B00FO0IHMY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1452008050&sr=8-3&keywords=lg+tone

The other model is HBS-730: http://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-HBS-730-ACUSBKK-Bluetooth-Headset/dp/B009A5204K/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1452008050&sr=8-6&keywords=lg+tone

Both models get around 10 hours battery life consistently for me. I've only rarely had the battery run out during a day's use. I've had them for probably 3-5 years. In that time I've only had one failure and that's because the earphone cord got caught on something and pulled out of the neck strap. It was my home unit and I listen to them on and off throughout the day while I do chores, it most likely caught on something I was carrying on my shoulder from the driveway to the back yard.

Eventually I'll be upgrading at least one of them to a newer model. I really want the one with retracting earphones but it's too pricey for me. Note that for all the models the earphones stick back into the neck base via a magnet, the one I'm talking about keeps the cord internally and retracts it when you put the headphones away.

u/Nakotadinzeo · 3 pointsr/tech

It doesn't make sense. You still need a DAC for phone calls and speaker output. There are ways of making the 3.5mm jack thinner that don't compromise usability.

I don't have a stereo in my car at the moment. I have a Bluetooth speaker instead. Thanks to interference, the music doesn't always play at the right speed, speeding up once all the packets come through. This isn't an issue with the 3.5mm jack.

There's already Bluetooth headphones on the market you can get for your runs, my weight lifting neighbor loves these. You can use these and still have a 3.5mm jack.

This is just going to get into fanboy territory. It's mostly down to taste and getting reputable parts.

My assumptions:

  2. You want more earbuds, not big over-the-ear cans.

It's significant. And I highly recommend trying out active noise canceling headphones (example) if you get the chance. They reduce noise by about 15 dB.

They're the best at reducing noise from engines, fans, wind... things that tend to be lower-frequency. That's where noise canceling is most effective.

I also like sennheiser.

I have a pair of HD 280 pros that I like a lot. A bit pricey at around $80, but they sound great.

If you're looking to replace your iPod earbuds, I like these just fine.

u/faerielfire · 2 pointsr/Fitness

I've had an excellent experience with these but they're suddenly 42$ instead of the 20$ I bought them for. Sennheiser is always a good brand though, they have cheaper models too. Newegg is a good site to check.

u/sumeetjain · 2 pointsr/travel

I bought these back when they were actually $20. They've upped the price since then, though. If you don't mind spending the extra cash, they're quite good.

There's a cheaper set that may be as good, but I haven't used them myself.

Also - buy your headphones early. It can take a few days to get the hang of sticking them in your ear and being comfortable with them.

u/AgentCoop · 2 pointsr/AskReddit

I bought a couple pairs for the same reason as you. I got some Jbuds and a cheap pair of Sennheisers. The Sennheisers are decent for the price, plus the design of the cord lengths lets you take them out of your ears without having to put them somewhere. They're around 25 bucks.

Edit: Also, try Newegg's selection.

u/Solivaga · 2 pointsr/BuyItForLife

Yeah, I've had Sennheiser's CX300 (2 year warranty, 1 ear failed after about 12 months - replaced), some Klipsch X1 (2 year warranty, 1 ear failed after around 18 months... refunded) and recently some RHA MA 350s (3 year warranty, really liking them so far) but I've also got some Koss Portapros.

What I really like about the Koss Portapros is that when they developed an annoying ticking in one ear, I sent them in, they repaired them, and sent them back. Same headphones, I can just see the glue where they resealed that ear. With consumer electronics these days it seems so rare that companies actually repair, rather than replace.

u/hamcake · 2 pointsr/Music

I can only assume the Dr Dre ones are overrated. Try to find them on sale, like the Miles Davis set I saw on DealExtreme

The Sennheiser CX300 are really popular and are just under $50.

The Klipsch S4 get really great reviews and are $80.

If you're looking for a really great sound isolating set, check out the Etymotic ER6i for $75.

u/rolfraikou · 2 pointsr/FindItOnAmazon

Good article. While they got the CX 300s (which actually didn't impress me), they did overlook the Sennheiser CX 200s though.

They're under $20 (I've seen them on sale for as little as $9.00) and they are outstanding IMO.

The CX300s sound way more "muddy" to me, while the CX200s have more of a kick. I notice more detail, as in smaller more subtle noises are pronounced while not being loud. The CX300s almost seem to eliminate these sounds, and I feel like I'm actually missing out.

The only ones I like more are my these Shure IEMs that are nearly $200 (granted, I got them on sale for $80). They are actually very similar in quality of sound IMO, however with the Shure's you can hear every last detail. The breath of a flute-player in an orchestra that I wouldn't have picked up on anything else I own.

But, I prefer the CX200s for one very important reason: They're cheap as hell. Break them, whatever. Who cares? Break the $200 Shures? Misery.

So I mostly don't use the Shures, they're more of a once-in-a-while treat.

TLDR: I suggest the Sennheiser CX 200s when it comes to bang for your buck.

u/smileyman · 2 pointsr/badhistory

Just get a pair of earbuds like these Sennheiser's. They're cheap (about $20), will cancel most sound and at the same time are a really good pair of headphones (considering the price range).

Don't get Bose, because although they make ok headphones you're going to pay too much for the Bose name. Same thing with Dre's or any big name brand.

Yeah, those aren't really the best for gaming, I agree. But I suggested them just in case because I have definitely seen people use them for gaming before.

In general I don't think I'd recommend IEMs heavily for gaming. If you're gonna use 'em outside as well as inside, then yeah, maybe it would be better than a pair of open back headphones. But well, anyway, I've not heard much of that particular pair, and they don't seem incredibly well regarded from a quick check.

With IEMs for gaming it could get more expensive depending on how much soundstage you want or need. Imo, with IEMs, you should either go relatively cheap or just start plunging in, because there's not much amazing in the middle. There are some incredibly good cheap IEMs like the Xiaomi Piston 3s. I have this pair, and I can vouch that they do not sound like $20 IEMs in the least, there is $100 sound in these. The catch is they are often faked, so if you buy a pair, make sure they're real by checking online, but well, it's Amazon, so there should be no issue if they're faked if you buy fulfilled by them, you'll return em easy. But they sound really good, especially for the incredibly low price, and I've tried gaming with them and they do fine for it, though not as great as headphones.

In the middle there is an incredibly well recommended IEM called the Shure s215. Are they good for gaming, well, I've never heard them so I can't fully say. They should be fine, but not amazing.

What will really do you best is a pair of IEMs with incredibly good soundstage, but you'll unfortunately be paying a lot more for really good soundstage in an IEM. I recommend just plunging in and spending a lot if what you want is IEMs, something like the Sennheiser IE80s. These are well known for very wide soundstage and clarity, and they'd probably do you best for gaming because of it. But the price is up there compared to a pair of headphones as you can see.

For noise cancelling I don't know much admittedly. I think Bose is still well recommended for noise cancelling, but I also think I've heard cheap Bose headphones aren't amazing. I've heard of the Bose QC25s as being good I think? But again, you're paying a premium for the noise cancelling. I would suggest IEMs over noise cancelling personally.

Fidelio X2s need a headphone amp which will run you some good extra money besides the price of them alone, I don't recommend them unless you're willing to shell out at least an extra $100 besides their price. The HD 598s are amazing at their price point for everything, probably the single best all around headphones at the price range, and the best ones for gaming imo. They're the ones I recommend most.

I'm sorry I've written you a novel here by the way, but I hope I helped a little!

...aaaand in 3... 2... 1... this guy will be dickishly peevishly in your face about how this should be in the sticky :)

That being said, i found that the Sennheiser IE80s were really good value if you can find them on sale, which you frequently can. Their big brothers IE800 eclipse them on subbass but they are really really nice, over-the-ear for reduced microphonics and a fine all-round performer.

u/undercovergangster · 2 pointsr/headphones

Great price for Sennheiser IE80 if anyone's looking

u/mrRynstone · 2 pointsr/GlobalOffensive

They have to use the earbuds as that's the only thing that will fit under those sound proof/canceling ear muffs.

If you are asking for a decent set of IEMs, here you go:

Semi budget:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000XPG2QI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

High budget:

u/vese · 2 pointsr/headphones

Maybe IE80s? in that case..pretty solid apparently, detachable cable, reputable brand. I don't know much about the sound signature but you can look up reviews for that. I've also heard they have above average microphonics if you wear them straight-down.

Those alone will go almost as low as a subwoofer that comes with a soundbar.

It can connect via optical. It also has a sub out if you ever want to add a subwoofer.

EDIT: You may need to use the 3.5mm jack (need an adaptor if your tv doesn't have), as I don't think you can control the volume if doing optical.

u/hack_tc · 2 pointsr/BudgetAudiophile

Even though it is at the high end of your budget, I would definitely consider the Vanatoo's
edit: Just noticed the smaller footprint part...These may be larger than what your looking for...

u/DEATHxMACHINE · 2 pointsr/ZReviews

actually you may want to consider the vanatoo t1. powered speakers where you can adjust treble and bass to fit your mood and they are pretty damn small. They are $500. I don't want to sound like I am talking you out of the S200s, I only know about the s300s lol.

https://www.amazon.com/Vanatoo-Transparent-One-Powered-Speakers/dp/B0080K2KUK/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&qid=1443476972&sr=8-1&keywords=vanatoo&linkCode=sl1&tag=wwwpuresimula-20&linkId=2ee77734c6e7cfda96a4286eafcb9349

Then you dont need to deal with an amp.

u/3wayhandshake · 2 pointsr/audiophile

Get separates.

People really like these: http://www.amazon.com/Vanatoo-Transparent-Powered-Speakers-Black/dp/B0080K2KUK

They have a sub-out and you can pair them with any real subwoofer.

Other notables that do not have subwoofers but nontheless have good bass are:

Audyssey speakers, they have old wired ones or ones that also support bluetooth

Audioengine: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/audioengine-a2
These are now on sale for only $150. These are probably the best value desktop speakers, even when they are at full cost.

Avoid any and all 2.1 systems that one would find at a Best Buy, like all Logitechs, Harmon Kardon Soundsticks and their ilk.

u/ThatBigDanishDude · 2 pointsr/audiophile

There's not a doubt in my mind. These are the speakers for your http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0080K2KUK?pc_redir=1409138688&robot_redir=1

I would recommend the Vanatoo T1, if it sounds like people report should be a good choice.

u/Wufje · 2 pointsr/running

The Sennheiser Adidas series are excellent.

They got normal earplugs, around the head and around the ear.
Choice enough!

Best ones I've ever had. They seem to be on sale because I payed a lot more for these when I got them. They don't ever fall out, unless they get caught and get ripped out. They keep outside noise down and sound great!

u/mindjyobizness · 2 pointsr/xxfitness
u/FuzzyMuggins · 2 pointsr/bodybuilding

I have the CX 685 (which I assume are nearly identical to those), and I love them. The sound's great and they've never fallen out of my ear. The only thing that worries me is that the cord to each earphone is really thin, but I've had them for about 8 months now with no problems.

u/blue-no-yellow · 2 pointsr/xxfitness

I used these ones for a while, that top bit actually kind of hooks inside your ear which sounds strange but it worked well, and they're adjustable. I broke them eventually and have Yurbuds now but I find them kind of big (even though I got the women's ones) so you might too.

u/TheInternetAlchemist · 2 pointsr/headphones
u/CommanderV · 2 pointsr/Fitness

These have been on my wish list for awhile. They're pricey, but of the ones I've been researching, they seem to be the best.

u/babyaced · 2 pointsr/headphones

I assume that you want a surround sound headset for the soundstage, immersion, and positioning. However, a good set of open headphones will be better than any gaming headset in this regard. The "surround sound" that gaming headsets boast is almost always just for marketing purposes.

I would recommend the Audio Technica AD1000X or the Philips Fidelio X2. They are around the same price as the Steelseries Siberia 800. The AD1000X have less bass than the Fidelios, but it has better highs. Both of them have an amazing soundstage, but the AD1000X will have a more accurate imaging/positional audio.

Also if you really wanted the wireless capability you could get a Bluetooth reciever like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-SBH20-Bluetooth-Stereo-Headset/dp/B00C1CGZT0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1464394129&sr=8-1&keywords=sony+sbh+20

and connect it to your headphones with something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/RuiLing-3-5mm-Adapter-Connectors-Plastic/dp/B00V2SGTMW/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1464394111&sr=8-4&keywords=3.5+mm+male+to+male

However this will only work with the Fidelio X2s because they have a removable cable.

u/rtechie1 · 2 pointsr/gadgets

There are a bunch of these. Sony makes a nice one.

u/CaptainBlase · 2 pointsr/GearVR

Get something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C1CGZT0/

And you can use whatever headphones you want. But, the lag is a problem, so I just use wired headphones.

I use these headphones:

u/PrivateCaboose · 2 pointsr/mildlyinteresting

Unfortunately this was 4+ years ago, and I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the brand names I was buying. I vaguely remember having a pair of SkullCandy earbuds that worked pretty well, and I think there were a few pairs of cheap Sony earbuds that I liked. I've since moved on to using Bluetooth earbuds since 90% of my breakage issues came from the cord getting caught on things as I was working and over enough time that would eventually FUBAR either the connection at the jack or at the earbuds themselves. I've been using the same pair of LG Bluetooth headphones for well over a year now with no complaints other than it takes a while to get used to having the unit draped around your neck (I usually just tuck it under my shirt so I don't look too goofy).

u/twomsixer · 2 pointsr/Fitness

Surprised to not see these recommended yet, they're usually near the top when this question gets asked. the LG Tone Pros

I dont own the 750 model, I own the 730 and have owned the 700 in the past. They're my favorite, they are bluetooth though (dont know if that matters to you or not).

The only downside to these is if you're doing something that has you laying down moving up and down a lot (like situps or something), sometimes it falls off your neck)

u/mrbigbusiness · 2 pointsr/motorcycles

I wish the buttons where a bit bigger though. I have my phone mounted on my bars, and listen to podcasts. I have a boring stop-and-go freeway commute.

u/PorscheCoxster · 2 pointsr/xboxone

This type is perfect if you're running or working out. I've been using this style for about 6 years now. This is my current go to.

u/MagnifloriousPhule · 2 pointsr/audible

If you just want something that you can be wearing while listening to Audible, might I suggest these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FO0IHMY/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=1944687602&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0052YFYFK&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=17Z7CYYVMS2XQ604Q0V3

There are smartwatches now with headphone jacks, but I'm not sure of their compatibility with Audible (don't know if Audible would play audio through it)

However, a bluetooth headset will give you the same functionality as the app (pause, play, skip +/- 30s) and you don't need to worry about your phone being right there.

u/Nocturnx · 2 pointsr/iphone

I've been using these:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FO0IHMY?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00

I wear them at work and when I workout. The sound quality is great, the battery lasts for several days, they hide easily under a collared shirt....

u/MagicJMarker · 2 pointsr/ZReviews

I've only recently found my favorite running headphones. I've gone through probably 6 different wired headphones and 2 Bluetooth headphones. I've been running with the Plantronics BackBeat Fit for about 3 or 4 months now and think I finally found my favorite. I run about 2 or 3 times a week and also wear them when cleaning around the house. They can go a full week without charging them. I also love the fact that they don't actually go into my ear and more hover over. Another great feature is when you put then on and power them up, a voice will tell you that they successfully connected to your phone and the remaining hours of battery left on them.

Edit: I also want to mention that you don't have to worry about these slipping out of your ear. I sweat big time when I run and I never had to mess around with them or have them slip out of my ear.

u/GamerKingFaiz · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

I use these headphones and this armband.

u/krissycole87 · 2 pointsr/xxfitness

I was having trouble with earbuds not staying in my ears until I found this over-the-ear style.
After researching all the over-the-ear style brands and models, I decided on this one from Plantronics and have never looked back.
They are super lightweight, I often forget Im even wearing them. Very good sound quality and sweat proof. They last ~12 or so hours so I get 5 or 6 workouts in before needing to charge.
All in all I think they are awesome, and are way more affordable than some of the other options. Highly recommend. I got them at Christmas and cant imagine using anything else.

  1. I needed to replace mine fairly quickly. Within 2-3 weeks. (One reason I stopped using them). I sweat a whole bunch on mine last year, eventually the headphones stopped working. I suspected it was related.
  2. Dry them out after every use - I believe (don't quote me on this) you could use a little rubbing alcohol to help.
  3. I would grab the 'official' ones, simply because they wear out so quickly...I can't imagine how quickly the cheap ones would go.
  4. Yea, I ended up purchasing these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KJLMBSO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and they have worked beautifully.

I used two separate sets of headphones that used the comply foam tips, and both times the foam tips were trashed within two weeks. I didn't want to spend a ton of money of them so I found the over-the-ear ones to work well.
u/schwannyosu · 2 pointsr/running

>One example, from a shady source, doesn't disprove my point.

Yet people are so quick to accuse Focal for sending out a single demo Utopia that was different than all the rest.

Disassembling an HD800/HD800S pretty much reveals the thinnest gauge internal wire you can imagine on a flagship. Sennheiser's cabling is known to be notoriously poor from top to bottom.

The best noise cancelling headphones are the Bose noise cancelling earbuds. They also make them in wireless (with a weird collar.) Wired are $250 and wireless are $300... They NEVER go on sale. However, when you're on the plane it's like sitting in your quiet bedroom. SOOOO GOOD.

Now I have a two pairs of apple earbuds at home, and one at work so I don't have to carry them back and forth. For the two at home, one stays in my desk drawer at all times and the other is for bringing out to cafes and travel.

Do this now because I've lost countless pairs over the years, including a super nice pair of Bose earbuds like these that I left next to my seat on an airplane :(. They were a nice gift from a relative as well.

u/plan_ahea · 2 pointsr/weightroom

I prefer using earbuds. I bought the Mpow Cheetah sport a few months ago for ~$25 on Amazon. They've been incredible! The battery lasts for ages, and I've never had any issues with fit. The sound is pretty decent too.

u/Aquifel · 2 pointsr/gadgets

I think the downvotes are because people are just generally against the concept, sucks man.

I use this one myself: Mpow Cheetah Bluetooth 4.1

The battery lasts long enough that I've never noticed how long it lasts! I've never had the battery die on mine, I use it for exercising or when I'm working alone. I'd say four hours would probably be the maximum amount I've used it in one sitting. It's been sitting on my desk unplugged for a few weeks, just turned it on and battery is still going, standby battery life seems pretty good too.

Biggest downside to this one is that there's a bit of a weird delay, there's a lag of 1-2 seconds between when the music plays and when it gets to your headphones. Only really noticeable if you're doing something like playing a game or watching a video.

u/Luckster · 2 pointsr/bodyweightfitness

Audio Technica ATH-WS1100iS. Easily one of the best sounding pair of headphones I’ve owned for gaming, movies, and music. They’re a semi-open back to allow airflow for the lower end bass frequencies, speaking of which, are very punchy and colorful without overwhelming or muddying the mids and highs which are very clear and accurate. The headset adapts perfectly with a mod mic. Also, they’re just aesthetic af in general with the low key purple anodized aluminum with subtle gold trim. Also, the 53mm drivers are easy to power with a smartphone or PC so you won’t have issues with volume.

When I run, I listen to audiobooks using a pair of Anker Soundbuds Sport, which are Bluetooth wraparound earbuds. I think what you might want to look for in an earbud is noise cancellation, which will help with the background noise. Anker does pretty good with noise cancellation for the price.

I'm looking for small Bluetooth earbuds that can last as long as possible since I use them all the time. I don't want those truly wireless earphones like the new iPods, instead I want something light but wired, like these examples. I'm not in the States but I'll be buying from Amazon.com anyway.

Budget - Around 100 USD but if better if it's less

Source - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Dell XPS 13

Requirements for Isolation - A lot or some isolation. I work at coffee places a lot but I also walk around the city a lot and I'd like to be able to listen to loud noises like ambulances or nearby traffic.

It's also helpful if you say where you mainly will use your headphones, for instance: Everywhere; mostly for music, audiobooks, podcasts and sending/listening to voice messages on WhatsApp or Hangouts

Will you be using these Headphones in Public? Yes, and I usually keep them on my neck so I'd rather have something not so visible like the examples above (BTW, I'm a petite woman).

Preferred Type of Headphone - IEMs or earbuds

Preferred tonal balance - Emphasis on high tones

Past headphones - The Etymotic ER4Ps are the best earphones I've ever had (I miss the highs of these earphones). But now I've completely switched to BT and have been using the Anker NB10s for about 2 years but one of the drivers has started to sound weird. I've also had a couple of Shures like these, which I hated! I want something that sounds more like the Etys but for the budget obviously

Preferred Music - I listen to a lot of classical music, soundtracks, Lo-Fi indie bands like Iron and Wine or Vetiver, acoustic stuff in general. I DON'T listen to pop, rap (except for Childish Gambino!), dubstep, etc.

What would you like to improve on from your set-up - I'm happy with my NB10s but I've used them a lot. I want to try something a bit better with better highs if possible

Thanks

Budget: Given that it's Black Friday, I'm thinking $100 to $130.

Source: iPhone 6s

Requirements for Isolation: I would say quite minimal as I will be using this on the streets of LA, London and on campus. I'm used to the isolation of standard Apple headphones.

Will you be using these Headphones in public? Yes

Preferred Type of Headphones: Bluetooth in ear. Not ear pods and not wired as I know I'll lose those small ear pods and the normal in ear headphones like the ones Apple sell are annoying as the wire always get tangled up. Was thinking something like BeatsX or preferably the Bose SoundSport Wireless https://www.amazon.com/Bose-SoundSport-Wireless-Headphones-Black/dp/B01L7PSJFO/

Preferred tonal balance: I'm sorry, but I'm a rookie when it comes to this. What I would like when listening to, hear the lyrics properly and clearly, while also making out what the beat is and hear it. Would also like something on the loud side. Not too loud. A bit louder than Apple.

Past headphones: I've mentioned Apple headphones a lot, so that. I also had Beats2. http://www.tmt.my/onlinestore/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=6434

Preferred Music: Old school rap and new school hip hop mostly. Dre, Snoop, 50, Eminem, 2Pac, Kendrick, Kanye, Future, 21 Savage, Kodak Black,

What would you like to improve on from your set-up? Mainly get rid of those annoying wires, and better sound with clarity.

I have these Bose SoundSport Bluetooth headphones and love them. They come with 3 different sizes of ear bud pieces so you can find what fits best. Plus they can hang around your neck rather than risk losing the AirPods. My only complaint is the battery isn’t quite as long as I’d like but they charge fast.

u/indiaisthebestalways · 2 pointsr/india

Bose has the Soundsport but it's out of your budget. I would recommend those.

http://www.amazon.in/Bose-SoundSport-Wireless-Headphones-Black/dp/B01L7PSJFO

Then you have the Sony Sony MDR-XB50BS
The reviews for it are hit and miss.

I know you want a bluetooth headset but I personally feel that the best music headset for activities is as follows.

I'll give you more suggestions after a little research, if that's cool with you! :)

u/Evil_Thresh · 2 pointsr/headphones

I am going to assume a wireless priority because cable gets in the way during workouts in my personal experience. Considering the sporty application, you'll want a pair of IEMs. As far as the bluetooth IEM market goes, active noise cancellation usually comes at a higher price point and are mostly found on TWS pieces. Most bluetooth IEM use passive noise cancellation and that is sufficient enough in my opinion. I have tried active noise cancellation on sporty wireless IEM (Case in point Jabra Elite Sport) and the results is rather eerie because the active noise cancellation is so good I end up being able to hear my own panting/heartbeat with no ambient noise. The recommendation I would give would be either the Bose Soundsport, Jabra's Coach series, Jaybird's X3, or Jaybird's freedom. The bose one sounds best imo if you don't mind the bulkier earpiece and extra weight. If you don't care much for the V-sound model, the other 3 on the list are all pretty neutral. The best part is that they are all under $150 USD.

Jabra also has the Pulse, which is similar to the Bose soundsport pulse if heart monitor and a fitness app is important to you.

If you are looking for a truly wireless sporty in ear headphone I would recommend Jabra's Sport Elite, but do be aware that like most other TWS they have a short battery life. From my personal experience the UI on the earpiece is a bit hard to use but you do get used to it eventually. The reason I recommend them is because they are the most secure in my ears during workouts, as compared to other TWS such as erato's apollo 7 (which does sound better imo). It's unfortunate apollo 7s fall out easily :(

u/DeYumYum · 2 pointsr/xxfitness

I put mine in my waistband usually. If you leave your headphones in the locker the connection probablt won't reach the headphones.

I have these and the sound is great but they fall out of my ears sometimes which annoys the crap out of me so I bought these recently and prefer them. I may splurge for the Beats version eventually.

I think the solution would be either cable strain relief like others have posted, or just remove the cable entirely.

I have one of these, good sound, minimal wires to snag, and often on sale. And while yes, embedded batteries don't last forever, electronics are never truly buy it for life.

u/thelegend_99 · 2 pointsr/oneplus

Not sure if these do, seems like it.

I also own a pair of Sony headphones (not earphones) that have HD Audio AAC support that were roughly for the same price.

I have the Anker SoundBuds Slim+ and Soundcore Spirit. Paid about $30 for each and they are awesome. No problem with connectivity. I can walk 50+ yards away from my phone and still be connected. I like bass and these both sounds great. My friend who had Beats said that the Ankers sounded better. They aren't truly wireless because there is a cord, but I highly recommend either of them.

I ended up grabbing these
Anker Soundcore spirit X, which are a similar style. After the prime sale and the 20$ coupon thing it was only 17 bucks, perfect for workout/work beaters.

I did have a pair of Mpows that I really liked(without the overear part, just a inner ear wing) but they eventually took a trip through the washer and died.

The best cheap wireless earbuds I’ve tested under $30 were these but if I were you don’t skimp money on wireless earbuds, if you own apple, get a pair of AirPods, they are really convenient and they pair fast, if you own android, get the Bose soundsport or I’ve heard some about raycon earbuds, so it’s your pick.

These Anker Soundcore ones

I run with them too so over the ear is key. The battery life and sound are great.

My only complaint is that I wish the cord came out the back of the earpiece instead of the bottom.

u/kopiikat · 2 pointsr/C25K

Thanks! It’s actually an NHL-branded headband. (Go Devils! Way to fight back!) There may be some left in your local team’s colors online if you search for “braided headband” and your team name. It’s great because it’s rubberized on the inside so it doesn’t slide off of my giant dome as much as most headbands do.

As for the headphones, they are supposedly “ultra waterproof” and “sweat-proof” and so far so good! They use Bluetooth (so no cord to tug and send your phone, wallet case, and credit cards flying all over the gym...), have volume buttons, hold a charge for 6(?) hours, boast pretty good bass, and include lots of tip options. I have a lot of trouble making earbuds stay put in my tiny ear canals, generally, but these work pretty well without too much adjustment. Especially for the current sale price of only $26, I’m really pleased with them overall! (Not a secret Anker corporate shill)

EDIT: Looks like they make those headbands for other sports leagues, too. The brand is Little Earth and they can be found here.

EDIT 2: I see you are in Canada. Looks like the headbands might be US teams only :(

u/joshuadwx · 2 pointsr/anker

If you like ear hooks, I'd strongly recommend Soundcore Spirit X!

u/Solid_Freakin_Snake · 2 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

Anker Soundbuds Curve might be just what you're looking for. This is the version I have. I've had them for almost a year and use them pretty much daily. As long as I charge them at night they last me all day. Sound quality is good, range is better than any others I've had, and they're nice and lightweight. I work manual labor and sweat profusely a lot of the time busting my ass on some roof or in some hot, stuffy apartment. Never had any problems despite them definitely getting a lot of moisture on them.

There's a newer version too, but I can't speak to those by experience. If mine die, though, these are probably gonna be the replacement.

u/Jatilq · 2 pointsr/GarminFenix

I was using the Anker Soundcore Spirit X with 8hr battery and they worked perfectly, but the Soundcore Life P2 were on sale this week for $44 and I love them. 8hrs battery life (tested myself) with 40 from the case.

If I lost mine, I'd immediately buy two more pairs of em. For the price, they're a no brainer.

u/sweaterpuppiez · 2 pointsr/podcasts

I *love* Soundcore Spirit X bluetooth headphones. They're $36 on Amazon and they go in your ear (not over) but with this little loop that goes around your ear to keep them in place better. I was originally skeptical of bluetooth headphones because I listen to podcasts *constantly*. I walk 7-10 miles a day and 90% of that is listening to podcasts. The play time for one charge is 12 hours & I've never had them die on me (though if you're using them a lot you have to be fairly diligent about charging them. I got my first pair 1yr+ ago and they're still going strong.

I've had the same Bose In-Ear noise canceling earbuds for the past 5 years. Ive used them 8 hours a day at work for the past 2.5 years and for 2.5 years in school. Multiple trips and pretty rough wear and tear and they still work perfectly (though the battery life on the noise canceling is going down slowly). They are pricey but I would have ended up buying multiple other ear buds over the course of that period. I would highly recommend. https://www.amazon.com/Bose-QuietComfort-Acoustic-Cancelling-Headphones/dp/B00X9KV0HU

u/huppie · 1 pointr/BuyItForLife

Someone recently pointed me to Bose's QC20 earplugs. They have active noise cancellation and as far as I've understood they're pretty much the best you can get if you're in really loud environments.

They're pretty expensive though and the sound quality (if you use it to listen to music) is decent.

Give them a try at your local Bose shop.

I bought these 2 years ago:

They've worked well for me and only cost around $20. There was a quality issue after a year where the band got disconnected from the earbud piece, but Mpow replaced em for me for free.

Have been looking to upgrade to something of higher quality.. maybe Jaybirds? Bose?

I had the same problem when I used any kind of wired earbuds at the gym, with one channel eventually dropping out. I'd spend anywhere between $5-$50 replacing them and i might get 3-4 months out of a pair.

Then I switched to bluetooth earbuds for my workouts and never looked back. I've been using the Mpow Cheetah for the past year with no problems.

Mpow Cheetah

u/wonkywonka · 1 pointr/Android

Not under $20, but close: Mpow Cheetah.

I have used and abused these for over 2 years and they still play music for almost 7 hours on one charge. When the battery is low they become quite annoying, with a female voice announcing "battery low" every 2-3 minutes until they run out of juice. They're compact enough to carry on the front pocket of a jean. The sound isn't great but I just got used to it and don't mind.

I'll probably buy again when the current ones die.

  1. Run outside and track your progress (runtastic, mapmyrun), and get some tunes on a wireless headphone

  2. Do a lot of abs (look at P90x or anything else on youtube) and or calisthenics (pushups, burpees, etc) at home if you're worried about running.

  3. Most importantly -> fitness is about discipline, not motivation. Workout because you know you should, not because you feel pumped up.

I use the Taotronics Bluetooth 4.1 headphones (link below). They're incredibly cheap - £23.99 and the sound quality is good.

If I'm being honest, I bought them just after Christmas because I wanted a cheap, crappy pair of Bluetooth headphones to tide me over until getting something better.

For bluetooth, I've got a couple of pairs of these, which I've found to be long lasting workhorses. I don't think I've had any actually break on me.

Recently grabbed a set of these looking for something a tad easier to carry around, but still find myself gravitating to the older pairs (more stable, harder to lose, etc.).

For sleeping, I have this hooked up to wired earphones (literally look for earphones on ebay for 99p per set and order 10, repeat when you get low).

u/zigz1221 · 1 pointr/headphones

Hi all, I am looking for a wireless headset that I'll use mostly when listening to music in public transport and occasionally when watching movies (via laptop, tv). If I feel like it I might as well try them while jogging.

I have narrowed down my search results and my top 3 choices are:
A) Ausdom m08
B) Avantree Audition
C) Taotronics earbuds (this model https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B017I9CBPC/ref=pd_aw_vtph_23_bs_tr_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=2JSN5Y1V5N5W7NKFR9VM)

Budget - since I already own a pair of DT770's, I'd like to keep it down a bit, not really wanting to spend too much. So I'd say 50€

Requirements for Isolation - as stated, I'll use them when I'm on a bus, train.. hence I'd like it to isolate the sound well. A little less noise bleed is also desired, usually listening to music/watching movies next to somebody sleeping.

Preferred Type of Headphone - I am used to full sized cans, but wireless earbuds are also an option

Preferred tonal balance - I like when the music or explosions in a movie kick a punch, therefore I'd say that I like more bass, but I have no problems with a more balanced tone

Preferred Music - I don't have a specific genre, I listen to almost anything - excluding classical music, Hip Hop

If you live outside of the US, please also provide:
I am from Europe, Slovenia, therefore my desired sites for buying things online are amazon.co.uk and amazon.de

Tl;dr which option would you opt for (and why)? Also please share your other recommendations and/or experiences with mentioned models.

Thank you in advance

Amazon transitioned Australia to its own amazon site, so I can't get the edition s from the US, unless there is an alternative site that ships to Aus.

I have the Audio-Technica WS1100iS and love them. I've heard they are similar in audio quality to the M50's but with a bit punchier bass.

In my opinion, they sound fantastic and the bass isn't over the top like with some bass heavy headphones.

u/redsolocup · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

A boom mic in this context is a mic that attaches to headphone and swings out over the mouth of the person wearing them.

These are usually the two most recommended headphone boom mics:

  • V-MODA BoomPro

  • Antlion ModMic

I have these with the V-MODA Boom pros and it is the same exact experience as with most gaming headsets. But sounds much better and the Mic is good quality. If either the mic or headphones break I can replace only the broken part. Also, I can just use a normal 3.5mm audio cord for when I don't want a microphone attached.

u/FatS4cks · 1 pointr/headphones

V-moda m-100 seem like a good fit. You can get larger earpads if the stock ones are too small. And they also have a removable cable so you can get a mic if you really want.

Sony MDR-1A are also a decent option, it's a pain in the ass with the mic compared to the other headphones around the same price though.

Audio Technica ATH-MSR7 are also pretty good and can also fit a mic like the m-100.

Audio Techica ATH-WS1100iS are a cheaper alternative to the MSR7 with a different sound signature and can also fit the mic.

u/Munkles · 1 pointr/civ

Yeah I can see that, sorry for mis-understanding.

HP is actually refreshing their Omen lineup and its probably the way i'd go. Its refreshing with skylake cpu's for improved battery performance, up to 965m gpu, 512gb ssd in a really sleek package should go for about $1300-$1500 and then just pack in a real good set of headphones like the https://amzn.com/B018UB3HU0

Then be stupidly happy.

I'm looking to purchase some good quality earphonese (IEM right?) for my brother's birthday, who's into music. He is by no means an audiophile, but I would like to get him something nice regardless.

I've narrowed down my search to two candidates:

u/HyeriMyGoddess · 1 pointr/Gaming_Headsets

What about wireless options? And isn't the 1more triple driver a earpiece? I think I'm leaning more towards the Cooler Master MH-751 right now but how would it fair against something headsets like the Sennheiser GSP 300/350? I don't know much about audio stuff but I heard that Sennheiser is one of the best in the game. My biggest concern is sound quality when I'm listening to Hip Hop music or playing around in a DAW for fun.

I got these https://www.amazon.com/1MORE-Earphones-Headphones-Resolution-Smartphones/dp/B01A7G35S0

I would also recommend the Shure se215.

These two are great budget in ear headphones. Terrific sound. The Shure don't last very long though. I had 2 pairs and the wire that wraps around your ear gets torn after about 2 years of heavy use.

So far 1More are soooo good for the price. Great quality and the packaging is awesome.

Thanks. These things?

Wouldn't proper headphones do a better job, for less money?

ACtually looking at those, I've had similar earphones (in design that is), and I hate that design. It was super uncomfortable in my ears. I'd prefer them to look flat, like this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Betron-Isolating-Headphones-Earphones-Powerful-Black/dp/B00P89DXYI/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1517605833&sr=1-5&keywords=Earphones&dpID=41oYhumHUeL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

Note: I know that they won't cancel noise. It's just a design preference (ie: ones that don't hurt my ears)

They've worked great for me. The flexibility of running without a phone is awesome.

Hi, I'm looking for a pair of bluetooth headphones to use while exercising (mainly running). I've narrowed it down to the Anker Soundbuds, but there are quite a few different models available on Amazon so I'm not sure which I should be getting/what the differences are. Here's the links to the models:

Sport

NB10

Slim

Here's the template with relevant information:

Budget - Less than £50

Source - My phone (Oneplus 3T if it's relevant)

Requirements for Isolation - Not a massive concern - I'll be using them while running in the countryside so there won't be much noise to block

Will you be using these Headphones in Public? Yes

Preferred Type of Headphone - IEMs

Preferred tonal balance - Balanced

Past headphones - Soundmagic e10 in terms of earbuds. I really liked them - they were durable and the sound quality wasn't noticeably bad to my ear. Problem is mainly just the wire which gets in the way while running.

Preferred Music - Mainly hiphop and electronic music

What would you like to improve on from your set-up - Sound quality is fine as is, just looking for comfort, durability and for the headphones to stay in my ears

Location - UK

Thanks for any advice you can give

So, I’m in the market to replace the JayBird X1s and upgrade to something with better sound quality; does anyone have any suggestions? I’ve read some reviews, and the following is a list of some Bluetooth earbuds that looked promising.

1.) Sennheiser HD1 Free Bluetooth Wireless Headphone

2.) Bose SoundSport Headphones

3.) B&O PLAY by Bang & Olufsen Beoplay 5

4.) Shure SE215-K-BT1 Wireless Sound Isolating Earphones

5.) V-MODA Forza Metallo Wireless In-Ear Headphones

6.) RHA MA750 Wireless Noise Isolating Bluetooth In-Ear Headphones

7.) NuForce Optoma BE6i Wireless Headphones

8.) Jaybird Freedom F5 Wireless In-Ear Headphones

9.) BeatsX Wireless In-Ear Headphones

I totally understand that seeking good sound quality in a pair of Bluetooth headphones is kind of an oxymoron, but I need something portable for when I’m on the go, and my good Final Audio ones are too nice to exercise with. I would greatly appreciate any advice as to what to get. Thanks!

So, I'm hoping to pick up a pair of fairly premium workout bluetooth earbuds. (USA)

This is fairly targeted, but wondering if it's a good deal - I've previously had jaybirds and think they're ok, but not sure if I should hold out for the Bose ones maybe? Not sure if they'll go on sale though!

It's 20% back for amazon card holders (instead of the regular 5%), and the Jaybird X3 is right at $100, which would go down to $80 with the 20% back. Link below for all the 20% back items that are currently listed, as well as the headphone. According to CamelCamelCamel, these haven't gone below $99.99 before.

Feedback appreciated!

So I have a pair of these and I love them, they are seriously comfortable and I don't really notice that they are there. The problem is that one of the earbuds just recently stopped working so I need to get some new ones. I would like to go wireless this time and I found these ones in hopes to still get that comfort. Though on the part that goes in your ear (I have no idea what to call it) it protrudes out, unlike the ones that I had. Does anyone know if they are still as comfortable or if I can get some tips that would be similar to what I had? Maybe you have some other suggestions for wireless earbuds for around $150 or less?

I'm looking for a pair of bluetooth earphones for general use and use running/working out. My preference is in direct conflict with most peoples' advice: I like Bose. I tried the Bose SoundSport earbuds and was impressed. I want an alternative that is cheaper and/or better so I can do a comparison.

Budget: <$150

Source: Phone, (LG G3) and Laptop

Isolation: None required, some preferred.

Preferred type: In-ear, silicone earpiece, sport, Bluetooth

Tonal Balance: Slightly bass heavy

Past Headphones: Bose QC15 for comfortable, leisurely listening. Bose Earbuds for portable listening/working out, Sony Extra Bass earbuds for portable listening/working out.

Preferred Music: Alt, Alt-Rock, Indie, Rap, some Pop. Honestly, most music.

What would I like to improve: The bluetooth aspect is important. I'm going to be using a smartwatch for music while running, so anything corded won't work.

I tried the Bose SoundSport liked them, then saw that the Jaybird X3 is similarly priced (slightly cheaper, even). If the X3 is worth the wait, (2 week back order) I'll do it, but if they're not much better for the price I'll just order the SoundSports.

When I'm in public, Bluetooth earbuds. Most of the time they take the hint. If they make eye contact and try to get me to donate to save the world from Republicans, I just act like I don't notice them. Aside from one time where a guy got in my way and tried to pull my earbud out to talk to me(I dodged his hand, cocked my fist and told him to get the fuck out of my way).

Aside from that one instance it's worked great. Sometimes I mine are off and in my ears just for the effect while still hearing 100% around me. More often than not, I am listening to something 🎧🎶🎶🎶

Some of the more highly regarded IEMs under $50. They mostly fit what you're looking for, the sound quality is a little difference across the board. For example CX-300 are boomy, the e10 is more bassy, and the e30 and a151 is more across the board good.

Edit2: Be prepared to buy a (variable) attenuator. Even the sound 'off' on your iPhone can be enough in a silent room, basically the amp is off, but the iPhone sound chip still plays. For most laptop soundcards you can hear a strong hiss because these earbuds pick up everything in the signal.

Edit3: another con for both, the plastics of the cord get kind of stiff when it's cold.

I've had these for 6 or so months and when I'm not talking to anyone I use them because I don't like getitng headset head, I've used them while playing pubg, cs, and earbuds are a lot better for hearing footsteps because they're +20 db louder in your ears which is of course good and bad but earbuds are pretty nice, these are comfy as shit too. sometimes I forget they're in and almost walk away from my desk with them in

u/hinstarsion · 1 pointr/vita

I had the Hammerhead earbuds(gifted to a friend), the version before the pro and I hated the design. I must have freaking baby ear because I find most earbuds uncomfortable for my ears. They're big, and the edges were sharp, they didn't fit into my ears well. I own an old pair of Razer earbuds and those are great but their newer design sucks imo.

The only pair of earbuds I've ever felt were comfortable are the Sennhesier earbuds. This is my second pair but I use them for everything. They're comfy and the sound is amazing. Here's a link to the ones I like.

Sennheiser Earbuds

I bought the Sony brand vita ones and found the quality to be meh, and they were also uncomfortable... :(

Hey, so yeah I am looking for a new pair of headphones as my daily driver for entertainment and work (video/sound cutting).
Budget: I dont want to spend more than 150€/~180$ but if it is really worth it I maybe can spend more
Source: Mainly for listening to music via my phone/laptop maybe desktop, but for my desktop system I think I will get another pair...
Requirements for Isolation: I will use the headphones mainly on my way to school/home(public transport is used daily!), in school, at home and everywhere I want to take them with me
Preferred Type of Headphone: I only had IEMs for listening music outside, inside I use my Razer Gaming Headset and think they are very comfortable for long use, so I would say over-ear
Preferred tonal balance: Something thats balanced but it is ok if there is some more bass, but it should be well balanced
Past headphones: I use my Razer Megalodon as Headset for my desktop and for my mobile entertainment I used Sennheiser IEMs(something like these, in the same price range)
Preferred Music: Well I am listening to so much different stuff(sorted ascending, first I listen to the most,...): Metal, psytrance/goa/tek, rap/hip-hop, some dupstep and drum and bass as well. Here I created a playlist for you, it gives you a brief overview of the different types I listen to and I like.
Location: Austria, but if i can get somewhere else a cheap pair I dont have a problem to buy them outside Europe or so

Thank you for your help!

These.

They sound pretty good. They're durable as hell and they're ~$20. They'll also make any unwanted background noise pretty much disappear.

I have a pair that have gone through the washing machine and still sound perfect.

$14 on amazon they have lived through 2 years of riding around in my cargo pants pocket and sound great for the price.

Sennheiser CX200 get my vote. I really don't think any headphones are going to last for life, but I have never been able to wear out my multiple pairs of Sennheiser CX series earbuds. I would recommend buying from Amazon directly (click on '23 new from $XX.XX' and scroll down to amazon.com) because fake Sennheisers are a big business.

Literally the best ones ever. The ones that are pure hard plastic (like the apple earpods) never fit in right and start hurting, but these soft plastic ones not only conform to my ear but seal out some ambient sound. Great sound too for earbuds, nice bass imo.

Disclaimer: All my headphones are Sennheisers. So maybe I'm a fan.

u/DoctorAtreides · 1 pointr/C25K

I have these. They stay in and are noise cancelling. The other good thing is they come with 3 different sizes. You can pull off the silicon part that sticks in your ear and replace it with the other sizes, so you can get a better fit.

u/VinegarStrokes · 1 pointr/Hawaii

Do you already have tinnitus? If so, you might go nuts with completely sound proof earplugs because all you'll hear is the constant ringing in your head. Consider using sound isolating ones from Bose, or Sony. Also, this https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-ANC23-QuietPoint--ear/dp/B004K09H32/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1360506050&sr=8-3&keywords=audio+technica+earphones

Considering you already have tinnitus, you might invest in white noise generator for sleeping.

Looking for a help choosing between a couple pairs of headphones, and maybe some suggestions as well.

I'm willing to spend up to $85 and I'll be using these headphones for work, school, and music. Noise cancelling would be great, but if they block out sound just fine without it that works too.

I've found a couple that might work for me (like these Taotronics or these Audio-Technica) but I'm not sure if there's something better out there. Any ideas?

https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-ANC23-QuietPoint-Noise-Cancelling-Headphones/dp/B004K09H32

They run on most websites 40-70$ just find a reputable dealer. I got my pair off of eBay for $45, from an authorized dealer. It came in its original packaging and wrap. The noise canceling on it works good. The volume can go really high and pitch, bass, and treble are perfect. It comes in a little silk pouch with foam ear buds and I think 5 other different sizes of rubber in ear pieces that range in good sizes. With it comes extra connectors to studio equipment like amplifiers or I think so. The little noise canceling box has a on/off switch for when you want it or not and a AA battery fits into it. The life of the battery hasn't died on me yet after almost 2 months of use. I swear by these ear buds. If you have any more questions about these feel free to ask. Sorry I'm no help with other headphones!

Edit: the foam tips are great for extended time periods! It molds to your ear!

I'm trying to buy a new IEM Headphone.

  1. Budget: around $200

  2. Source: Laptop, or mobile. Both will be streamed at 320kbps

  3. Isolation: Some isolation needed. Need to be able to block out normal talking voice few meters/yards away form me.

  4. Will I be using the headphones in public? Yes, but in quieter places such as a library.

  5. Preferred Type: IEM

  6. Preferred Tonal balance: V-shaped or Bass boost.

  7. Past Headphones: Old - cheap skullcandy (~$20 or so) earphone that I got as a freebee from a promotional event. I didn't realize how poor the sound quality on this was until I tried my Klipsch R6M.
Current - Klipsch R6M. Now that I've tried it, I have a bit of a problem. This is a much better headphone than my Skullcandy freebee. I can actually hear things that I didn't even know existed from my old library. One thing my Klipsch lacks is the thumping bass. Although the sound is much clearer, I don't get the pump I get from using my Skullcandy. In short, I want bass (and some treble) without sacrificing clarity.

  8. Preferred music: EDM. Sometimes I listen to classical music too but that's a secondary concern. Primarily I want my EDM music to sound good.

  9. What I'd like to improve from my set-up: My Klipsch R6M is sorely lacking in Bass. I'd like to improve that without sacrificing clarity.

  10. Purchase Location: U.S.

Also note: I've looked "Recommended Headphone Guide" from this subreddit and I'm considering Sennheiser IE 80 headphone. I wanted to ask your opinion on this considering my specific requirements.

WHY IS THE PRICE ON AMAZON so much lower? Could it be a counterfeit? There's almost $200 difference between buying direct from Sennheiser and from Amazon? My apple headphones have died on me after a valiant year of fighting the abuse I put them through by storing them tangled in my pocket. As a person who searches for the best product and with a new found inspiration to take better care of my next set of in ear headphones, I searched and came upon the w40.

Almost no website had anything bad to say about the w40 with respect to performance. I was impressed with the boasting of four armatures and balanced sound reproduction, etc. I ordered them from Amazon two days ago.

Come last night, and I was very disappointed. I'm not an audiophile by any means (and have probably suffered damage to my ears), but the w40s felt no more impressive, for the most part, than my old apple earbuds. There was some nice sound depth and everything seemed balance, but I was thoroughly unimpressed and am returning them come Monday.

Budget - $500.00

Source - iphone 5s. (Willing to buy an amp outside of this budget for no more than $150.00)

Preferred type of headphone: In ear

Preferred tonal balance - I'm a little ignorant when it comes to this, and since it sounds like it varies person from person, I'm going to go out on a limb and say I prefer a neutral.

Past Headphones Sennheiser HD 25 ii, V-Moda M100, trooper apple earbuds RIP

Preferred Music - Varies widely. I currently listen to a lot of J-Rock/J-Pop

What I have in mind Have done some research and the sennheiser ie80 seems like a decent choice.

Location The States. Apple Pie.

Thank you for your time and in advance for your advice. I appreciate it as a relatively ignorant consumer of the headphone community.

Te podés imaginar la banda tocando alrededor tuyo casi. Los comparé con unos Sehnheiser de €200 y son casi tan buenos, eh! Looking for quality built IEMs under $500.

I've owned a pair of Sennheiser IE80s for about 3 years now and have had to replace them once already when one ear just stopped working. This was probably my fault, but I NEVER use them outside of my home office. After having my new pair for a year, the left ear bud is crackling and I can't stand it. I love the sound quality, but two replacements in 3 years is too many.

I would like to find a pair of headphones under 500$ that are going to last me 5-10 years or more. Can you think of any exceptionally well built headphones in that price range?

Alternatively, can you think of any companies that provide long warranties?

u/keepinithamsta · 1 pointr/business

What price range?

I haven't demoed them but I've heard nothing but good things for VSonic GR07 as a leader up to $200.

A really big one that I can personally suggest is Sennheiser IE80 @ $300. The problem when you get into this price range is the argument on if you need an amp or not. Most people wouldn't be able to discern a difference on most IEMs, though. I would rather get a custom set than a good amp/dac (minimum $100) + $300-400 IEMs for a total of $400-500 when a good custom set starts at ~$500. I've heard Costco hearing center will even do free impressions for you but I've never tested this.

Hi /r/audiophile, long time reader, first time writer....

I have a new desk in my bedroom. Already have the monitor (Seiki 50" 4K display), keyboard (WASD) and mouse (G700S). Now I need the audio. My use cases are:

  • Listening to music while working at the desk on my MacBook Pro
  • Watching TV on the Seiki (if possible, see below)
  • Listening to music while in bed (which is 5 feet from desk)

    Here's my sources:

  • Late 2013 15" Apple MacBook Pro with Retina Display. I can output sound via USB or mini-SPDIF via the headphones port. The mini-SPDIF option will let me output 192khz, instead of 96khz via USB
  • Raspberry Pi, with HiFiBerry Digi DAC running as an AirPlay/UPNP target/MPD server. This will output either SPDIF or coax digital out.
  • Output from the Seiki, which has Coaxial Digital Output, for Chromecast and anything else I plug in to the 2 remaining HDMI ports (i'm assuming just Chromecast). This output is a nice to have, not a must have.

Here's the audio equipment I currently have:

  • Sonos PLAY:3. I rarely use this, just because the app doesn't really work for my workflow. I like to play anything through a source, not just whatever services Sonos supports.
  • Sonos BRIDGE
  • Sonos CONNECT. This is next to my Onkyo receiver, in another room. It currently takes in Bluetooth from a device I have that outputs it to 3.5mm
  • Sennheiser HD598. Whatever setup I get, it would be nice to have headphone support of some kind, but this is not a requirement.
  • FiiO E7 paired with the HD598's.

I'll most likely sell all the Sonos stuff soon-ish.

Here's my other devices to be aware of:

  • Nexus 5
  • Nexus 7
  • Aforementioned MacBook Pro with Retina Display

I use these three to control music already on my home theater setup in the living room (not my bedroom!) (Klipsch RC-42 II, RF-42 II, RB-41 II, Klipsch Sub 10, Onkyo TX-NR616).

Ok, now the question. What parts do I need to buy to have a great 2.0 (or 2.1, but sub isn't really necessary for the room size) setup that will take in the 3 previously mentioned inputs? These need to be desktop speakers, as I don't really have room for floor standing.

I have looked at a few options that could help to solve this dilemma. They are:

  • Kanto YUMI Speakers. These are nice, because they have the inputs I need, room to grow, and Bluetooth built in
  • NAD D 7050. While expensive, it also has everything I need, plus would take the Raspberry Pi out of the picture. Obviously this is in another league from the Kanto speakers, as I would need to pair this with a pair of speakers. So, extra credit question time! If you suggest that I get the NAD D 7050, what speakers should I get with it?
  • Vanatoo Transparent One. Has all the inputs and I've heard good things. Raspberry Pi would be on USB, MacBook Pro on optical and Seiki on coax digital.

    Other final notes:

  • I'd like to remain all digital as much as possible. Maybe this thinking is wrong though?
  • While i'd like to build this as cheap as possible, I'm willing to spend a bit if it gets me a better experience, like the NAD D 7050 would. I already spent $2500 on the home theater though, so nothing that advanced is needed.
  • If it matters, I have Wi-fi currently available in the room, but plan to add powerline networking in the next week or so.
  • My media sources are all highest possible quality. I have a mixed use of Spotify at 320kbps, FLAC via Subsonic and the odd YouTube video etc.
  • Genre wise, a lot of electronic, hip-hop/rap and pop/top 40.
  • Willing to buy used. I live in downtown Oakland, California, so I can buy from anywhere in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Thanks so much for reading and for your opinion. I'll make sure to post pictures of my setup no matter what road I go down. Also, you can find me on IRC as robbiet480.

u/ZeosPantera · 1 pointr/hometheater

That is a tough nut to crack.

What about putting one of these right by the projector. That way you can grab the audio either via L/R analog or SPDIF fiberoptic. Then it is just a matter of getting a long enough cable to bring around the room to the front where an amp/speakers would be.

You could do something like a Q5 + Speakers or just go for broke and get some Vanatoo T1's and plug those right into the digital line.

They are small enough and easy enough to move in and out. They also can add a subwoofer directly to them.

Need advice for a PC Setup
I’m a fan of great sounding music, but by no means would I consider myself an audiophile. I’m a bit out of the loop when it comes to making an informed decision about new gear to accompany a recent PC build I just put together. I have a budget of $500.00 but am willing to step that up to $1,000.00 if the improvement in sound quality is worth the extra money.

From what I’ve read, it looks like active monitors suit my needs best. I have found a set of KEF X300A for $550.00 which look pretty good to me and have been reviewed quite well; however it looks like I won’t be able to run a sub with them. I do listen to pretty bass heavy music but I live in a condo that requires I keep the thumping bass to a minimum. Do any of you have experience with the KEF X300A’s? Alternatives that look like they might also suit my needs are the Vanatoo T1’s and the Audioengine A5+ which both appear to be well reviewed and have outputs for a sub woofer.

Any help or product recommendations would be much appreciated.

My second question is in regards to speaker placement. I ‘m running a three monitor setup which makes speaker placement a bit awkward as two of the monitors are right in the ideal placement. Do any of you have experience with this issue? Again any recommendations would be appreciated.

u/Umlautica · 1 pointr/audiophile

If it's just going to be a dedicated LP setup, you could simplify it a bit by going with powered speakers. I suggested the separate amp/speakers in case there were going to be more input or if you needed a remote.

The AudioEngine A5+ would work but for the same money, you're going to get better sound from Vanatoo T1. The volume control is on the back of these though.

u/Heheheheha · 1 pointr/audiophile

the T1s are $500, this listing says pair

I wouldn't recommend any Klipsch speakers. They are outperformed on every level by their competitors. They look better than they sound and their customer support is god awful.

And the JBL speakers, while studio monitors, are not ill suited for desktop use.

The concept of studio monitors not working as listening speakers is something that is discussed on this forum endlessly. The thing to know is that it doesn't matter. Using a studio monitor for music listening is perfectly fine.

u/Soryen · 1 pointr/buildapc

I have a set of Vanatoo T1's. I don't have any sound card. The speakers have digital input and have an internal DAC and internal amp tuned for the speaker. They feel like there is a bass in the room even when there isn't. Bonus is, if you decide you want to add a external sub, the speakers have a Sub out, which many 2.0 powered monitors don't come with.

The T1s are very so slightly warm. Not as warm as Shure's signature, but they are slightly warm. Better than that is the soundstage is magnificent. Everything feels properly placed and very airy.

I am using Sennheiser CX 685 Adidas Sports In-Ear Headphones and I am really satisfied.

I mostly use my nexus 5 as an mp3 player or sometimes my ipod nano.

u/zeekx4 · 1 pointr/Fitness

Sennheiser products are my goto for mid-range headphones. The price on these is great, now. I got them for $55, and they were worth that. I thought they'd feel weird because of that little plastic piece that holds onto your ear, but it serves its purpose perfectly.

u/JRJam · 1 pointr/Fitness

I've had this set

http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-CX-685-Adidas-Headphones/dp/B0094R4POC/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1464991617&sr=8-8&keywords=adidas+headphones

For a year in a half. I really enjoy them. I use them for weight lifting. Running. Sprinting. Biking. Never had an issue. I used to go through headphones every 6 months.

I could never get used to Bluetooth headphones. Not the fitting in my ears part, but the cord that goes between the 2 pieces always seems to fall at a weird spot. I don't like the feeling while benching, or it flopping around while running.

Not to mention, I think working out with a 200+ dollar cellphone is a bad idea. And my sansa clip obviously doesn't have Bluetooth.

Elephant Barber. Thanks for doing this contest!

I would love this item! My headphones don't sound as good as they used to, and I'm training for a half marathon. I need to make sure I've got some good ones to help with my training and the day of!

I absolutely love local music and will try and find new music for someone to enjoy right from their town or state. It's a big passion of mine, and I feel antsy and weird if it's been too long in between shows.

-Budget: Less than $200

-Source: Droid Turbo smartphone, and Asus ROG laptop

-Requirements for Isolatioin: Some isolation is good, but not necessary, headphones will be worn at home, in the library, and commuting around town on bike/foot.

-Will you be using these Headphones in Public? Yes

-Preferred Type of Headphone: In ear headphones are by far my favorite.

-Preferred tonal balance: An overall balanced pair of headphones is best, I don't listen to a any specific genre of music enough to want to tailor my headphones in that way.

-Past Headphones: The reason I'm coming here is that I just keep churning through headphones. I keep my phone in my front left pocket, and I bike at least 5 miles each day. My constant issue, is that even with headphones in the $50-60 range, eventually the plug dies from bending against my leg, and one or both earbuds go dark. A few recent headphones that all died this way: Cheap Skull Candys, Sol Republic JAX, and a pair of Sennheiser CX 685.

-Preferred Music: I listen to a lot of Metal, Rock, Indie, EDM, Rap, Hip-Hop, basically anything high energy I can get my hands on. Some specific artists would be Godsmack, Metallica, Big B, Matisyahu, The Tallest Man on Earth, The Raconteurs, ILL Bill, Snowgoons, Bliss n Eso, Brother Ali, Knife Party, Bassnectar, and Gramatik.

-What would you like to improve on from your set-up: I'm really just looking for a pair of headphones that can stand up to a good amount of abuse, and still have at least decent sound quality without breaking the bank.

Happy to answer any other questions that I can in order to be helpful, and a pre-emptive thanks for any time you're willing to give me!

I love all Sennheiser products. I've tested their headphones against Monster, Beats, and Bose and still prefer the Sennheiser brand. (Bose are pretty amazing but I can't justify spend so much). I have their reference headphones for at home use and the ear buds I linked below for working out etc.

Sennheiser and Adidas made a bunch, one of them was the cx685s. I had the cx680s (which had a mic) and they sounded pretty shitty, but apparently the 685s are an improvement (at least in comfort as I've read) only thing is there's no mic. Mine did tangle alot too. But they're cheap.

Bose has the SIE2s, which have a mic, but are pricier. The reviews should give you an idea on how they sound (never used them).

http://www.amazon.com/Bose-SIE2-Sport-Headphones-Green/dp/B008V9RW58/ref=cm_cr_dp_asin_lnk

Lastly, Monster makes some. Not cheap, and one reviewer said there were some fakes being sold through Amazon so if you buy them, make sure they're genuine or buy from Monster. One thing to note, Monster has shit customer service. Dealt with them before on a pair of broken Turbine Pros and it wasn't very easy.

I like the MDR-AS200 from Sony, because they're cheap, hug you're ear (No discomfort in the helmet, and they wont get pulled off) well, and they have decent sound for the price.

I currently using the CX685 from Sennheiser. Little pricier, and while they're still comfortable in the helmet, they come out of my ears when I take the helmet off, but I'm ok with that. having said that, they have a better sound, and can block out a fair amount of noise.

Hey guys,

I have narrowed my possible headphone choices down to 5 kinds, but I'm kind of having trouble deciding which one to pick:

V-Moda XS: http://www.amazon.com/V-MODA-On-Ear-Folding-Noise-Isolating-Headphone/dp/B00GO4GMAI

V-Moda Crossfade LP2 with XL Ear pads bought separately: http://www.amazon.com/V-MODA-Crossfade-Over-Ear-Noise-Isolating-Headphone/dp/B00HYH7HXA/ref=pd_tcs_subst_e_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=1C43YNNYY8MYCJEEA8DG

and last but certainly not least: The Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro:
http://www.amazon.com/Beyerdynamic-Custom-One-Pro-Black/dp/B008XEYT48/ref=sr_1_1?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1409518695&sr=1-1&keywords=Beyerdynamic+custom+one+pro

I listen to a lot of EDM and rock, and occasionally some pop. I want headphones that would be able to block out some sound because I will be listening to these on the bus to school, so I want to basically drown out all the screaming freshmen girls :P I also want these to last a while, and they should be able to tolerate some sweat, because i sweat excessively even when I'm not working out. I am coming from the Bose QuietComfort 2 Headphones, and I want the sound to be an upgrade over that. Based on this information, which one out of these 5 would you recommend?

u/brandonshutter · 1 pointr/headphones

Hey folks!

I have never been a 'premium' headphone user, but today I forgot my headphones at home while I was at the gym, and made a quick pit stop to Best Buy and picked up these: http://www.bose.com/controller?url=/shop_online/headphones/sport_headphones/index.jsp

At the time I didn't care how good/bad they were, I just wanted something comfortable to wear at the gym. However, the sound difference astonished me, and now here I am in this subreddit browsing around.

I am shopping around now for headphones that I can wear at the gym, without worrying about them falling out. These Bose ones were amazing, I was on the basketball court for 30 minutes and lifting, and had zero issues. I just don't know if they're worth the price.

I Googled and found these: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B6ZGSVI/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_evknub0F73HFQ and was wondering if they're also worth the price?

I want something sweat proof, won't fall out of my ear, and wireless (not required, never had wireless but the concept seems cool.)

Note: I'm reading the Headphone Buying Guide as I speak, just wanted to post this as well.

u/MrHenryBemis · 1 pointr/iphone

I also use these. You can get the previous generation (which many people say are about the same as the X2s) for under $80 new on Amazon.

I have never been able to get Siri to work while riding because of wind noise, but it works when I'm stopped. Also, I've found that I need to keep my phone in the jersey pocket closest to the transmitter (my left ear) or sometimes the audio will cut out because it's trying to transmit through your body.

I turn them up barely enough to make out the podcasts I listen to, which also lets me hear my surroundings. It's worked out well.

edit: dumb typo

Hey there! Looking for some advice.

I'll be visiting the States in a couple weeks time and have been wanting new ear buds for a very long time.

I've heard many good things about the 215's sound and value, and the BlueBud's sound and convenience. Currently on Amazon, the BlueBuds X is $116USD whilst Shure 215 is $89USD. Is $27USD worth the difference?

Source: PC/Phone
Location: USA/AUS
Budget: $75-150 ---> Mostly looking for value
Isolation: Because I'll most likely be using it whilst I ride, isolation shouldn't be a lot, maybe some. Not a big deal
In public? Yes, not like a shopping center, more like a school classroom.
Preferred Type of Headphone: IEM's
Preferred tonal balance: Not an audiophile, preferably balanced - an all rounder
Preferred Music: I just listen to the radio's songs because im lazy :p
What would you like to improve on from your set-up: Just looking for a reliable, value orientated and excellent sound out of an IEM.

I am planning to use them few times a week for leisure listening and riding my bike. I'm also not a huge audiophile, just a guy looking for excellent sound and value.

Any advice/opinion would be appreciated!

Depends on your price range. In the cheap range I have these http://amzn.com/B012SDC2A2 which are pretty decent but the sound quality isn't as good as it could be.

In the more expensive range, these are fantastic: http://amzn.com/B00B6ZGSVI They have great sound and have a lifetime guarantee against sweat. Pretty much the best you can get for your money.

I've got a pair of Plantronics Backbeat Fit (https://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-BackBeat-Fit-Wireless-Headphones/dp/B00KJLMBSO). These are the older version, I think there's an upgrade by now.

I got them since 2015. The great thing for me is that they are open-ear meaning the ambient sound flows in. It's nice to NOT be noise-canceling while I'm running on streets, hills, and cycling etc.

The sound is actually okay. I have sony wh-1000xm2, RHA in-ear etc for office settings. So Plantronics didn't sound really bad in that regards.

I second Plantronics. I've been using these Backbeat Fit ones for over 2 years and they've been great so far.

Before these, I used to use these Jaybird BlueBuds but they stopped working after only around 6 months or so due to sweat. The battery stopped holding any charge.

I liked the Jaybirds for their noise-cancellation and heavy bass, but the fact they didn't last long and weren't entirely sweat-resistant like they were supposed to be put me off that company.

The Plantronics on the other hand, while not as snug a fit as the Jaybirds (probably the model I have) I still rate higher since they've lasted this long and are very sweat-proof.

Hey Guys! I think I've narrowed down my choice in wired IEM to these two.
Sennheiser Mometum IEM vs Shure SE215. I'd love to hear your opinions! Information about what I'd like below. Also, if you know of a better option than these two that fits my needs I'd love to hear it! Thanks!

Budget - Below $200 (The two I'm deciding between are ~$130)

Source - iPhone X

Requirements for Isolation - Some, to a lot. Using in gym/university, decently loud areas.

Will you be using these Headphones in Public? - Yep.

Preferred Type of Headphone - IEM (see above)

Preferred tonal balance - I wouldn't go as far to say I'm a basshead but I like my metal to hit hard and my hip hop beats to feel deep.

Past headphones - I had a pair of Senn IEM's for like. 8 years. Loved them. Cable broke. Don't know the model, but paid like $80 for em.

Preferred Music - Metal/Hiphop/Prog/Everything else. (sorry, this is no help)

What would you like to improve on from your set-up - I just have to imagine that a bit more in spending + 8 years in technology changes means I have to be getting a better sound with these, no? That and I'd love it they last as long as my last pair.

I have the sennheiser momentum in-ears, and really like them. the mic and controls both work flawlessly. i paid 100 for them and think they are worth it, looks like there is a sale on right now, 63. http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-Momentum-In-Ear-Android-version/dp/B00N3RFFV6?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

I have used the piston 2.0 with a previous phone and thought they were fantastic for the price.

Here ya go! The momentum in ears :)

u/rilesbriles · 1 pointr/LGG3

They are these: http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-MOMENTUM-In-Ear-Samsung-version/dp/B00N3RFFV6/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1421183164&sr=8-7&keywords=sennheiser+momentum

They have been reported to work on G3's by fellow redditers also my Klipsch S4a-II's are supposed to work but they don't. Surprisingly I recently found out that my fake galaxy s3 ear-buds work though.

u/TacticalVape · 1 pointr/GalaxyS7

Sennheiser Momentum in-ear are pricey, but they sound great and have a three button remote. Earbuds aren't very common, so finding a pair that sounds good will be difficult.

u/materix01 · 1 pointr/headphones

I love the 1More Triple, probably the best bang for buck IEM in the market under $100. I loved them so much I wrote a review on them although plenty of critic reviews online. They are so good there usually isn't much of a reason to pick the double driver over the triple unless you really want that white colour scheme. i personally would save towards them but you may value different things from me. If all you want is a decent pair of IEMs with volume control, there are alternatives.

The Mee 6 Pro are a pretty decent sounding pair of $50 IEMs that come in black but they are over ears which some love and some find inconvenient. They come with removable mmcx cables and one of the cables has build in volume controls.

Objectively speaking the Sennheiser Momentum In Ears are quite a decent pickup for the discounted price of $70. Whilst I personally dislike some parts of the design such as the cable management, they are still a good pair of $100 IEMs and not a bad pickup at a discount.

u/FrismFrasm · 1 pointr/hiphopheads

Currently rocking some of these sennheisers and they're pretty sick. Only complaint is the cords is SO long. I catch it on fucking everything. Like when I bend over to tie my shoe or some shit the cord will catch on my knee when I stand back up. They sound great though. You can also get them in black/silver if you don't want that metallic red (I went with the black).

I used to have these Bose ones and dude, they are honestly the best headphones I ever had. Unfortunately mine got stolen and now that exact model isn't made anymore. The ones they sell now are the same headphones plus cellphone functionality and they're like $30 more or so.

I know people talk so much shit on Bose and how they're a rip off and I believe some of it (hence why I went with the often praised Sennheisers for my next pair), but honestly those Bose were the best 'phones I ever had. Maybe they just fit my ear perfectly but they had amazing bass, very clear sound, they were so comfy I would forget I had them on and that rubber wing looking design keeps them in your ears no matter fucking what. You think it will look stupid but that whole thing is invisible inside your ear so they look fine. You can run/jump/dance/anything with them in and they won't go anywhere. Very happy with my Senns but I will never not miss those Bose ones I had.

EDIT: I now understand you were looking for proper closed headphones, not in-ear. I prefer in-ear myself and if you ever want a good pair around the $100 range, check those 2 out^^

Sorry for not formatting, but I'd like a quick answer.

I'm not very knowledgeable on headphones so could anybody tell me if these are good quality/value? I'm not looking for a super high quality listening experience, just some good quality earbuds for music, Skyping, and some gaming.

u/lobster_johnson · 1 pointr/programming

Bose QC20 earbuds. The noise canceling is even better than the over-the-ear version, and they come with multiple silicone tips for different ear types. You can hardly feel them when you're wearing them. Definitely worth the somewhat high price.

u/toodleoo77 · 1 pointr/hsp

I actually just ordered the QC25 a month ago or so to replace the QC15 ones I've used for years and loved. So far no problems. It does use up batteries rather quickly.

I also have a pair of their earbuds - they are smaller for every day travel. I wear them on the train when I commute to work. Link

I had the same question a while ago when looking for these https://www.amazon.com/Bose-QuietComfort-Acoustic-Cancelling-Headphones/dp/B00X9KV0HU to drown out shitty office music/chatty co-workers and couldn't find it in SA for less than R5000.

Some research seemed to indicate that there is not a whole lot of import duties on headphones. There's no way I am paying R700 for a $35 pair of headphones.

I bought a pair of custom molded earplugs from an audiologist. Expensive, but worth it for crowds/public

You could try noise-cancelling earbuds. I use these ones, which have soft rubber buds instead of hard plastic. They’re also dreadfully expensive, but I sure as hell didn’t pay full price for mine. Bought em off Ebay for cheap from a guy who didn’t know better

Also extremely helpful, yet kinda counterintuitive: use more noise to make it seem quieter. I use mynoise which has loads of completely customizable sound generators, many of which are free. When I’m trying to drown out my dad’s godawful talk radio (the tinny sound quality of that fucking radio fills me with an immediate potent rage, like some kind of pavlovian hulk), I’ll put in the noise cancelling headphones and put on one of the generators. There are some that are just variations of white noise, some that are immersive environments (train station, rainforest, church, rocky beach, etc.), and some that supply a neutral background noise, like an oscillating fan or ambiguous café chatter.

If I’m trying to drown out people talking, i use the cafe chatter because it takes the edge off of the real voices and also makes it harder for me to pick out individual words being spoken. If I need to make artificial city noises (cars, sirens, drunken crowds) a little more palatable, I’ll use a beach or forest or cricket or thunderstorm ones. If i really need to just block out my whole world and FOCUS on a textbook or essay, I use binaural beats or binaural harmonics, which just kinda...clear out and refill my head with an extremely large vibration? I know that makes no sense at all, but get some stereo phones and try it out and you’ll see what I mean.

I dont know enough about brains to know why it works, but it’s like...when individual obnoxious sounds are piercing my sensory bubble, having one complete/resolved/intentional soundscape as a baseline makes the obnoxious ones hurt less. You might still hear them, but you probably won’t be affected by them as much

Brother I have some real constructive advice. This single tip has made a huge difference in staying positive mentally everyday despite the torrent of negativity around me in nyc.

Go buy noise cancelling headphones. Im dead fucking serious. I suggest the Bose in-ear quiet comforts, you can get them on amazon. Seriously makes my life so much better, from commuting on trains to when people are annoying and disrespectful.

Let her bitch, trying to control her will never work. You can only control yourself and your own reactions. Why are you letting her disturb your headspace?

  • Budget - Around 100$. Maybe I can push it to 125 but since I'm a student, it's kind of an issue.
  • Source - LG G6, I want wired(3.5mm or type-c).
  • Requirements for Isolation - It would be nice. I'm planning to use these in library while studying and using public transportation. But mainly I will use them in my room.
  • Will you be using these Headphones in Public? - Yes. But not frequently.
  • Preferred Type of Headphone - I want wired in-ear headphones with good fit(I don't know the name for that, ear fin? sport-fit? you got the idea.)
  • Preferred tonal balance - Overall balanced.
  • Past headphones - I am currently using these I like its fit.
  • Preferred Music - Nothing spesific really. I have a mixed taste.
  • What would you like to improve on from your set-up - A greater overall sound quality and good isolation.
  • Looks like Bose QC20 is exactly what I want but it is way over my budget. So maybe this one or this one is good for me. I really don't know what I should buy. ANC feature looks really sweet but I've never tried it, so I'm not sure if should buy a headphone with ANC. Thanks.
u/wheetato · 1 pointr/headphones

The Bose QC20 is supposed to be quite decent sounding very good at blocking sound.

u/amostrespectableuser · 0 pointsr/Aliexpress

What type of headphones are you looking for? In-ear? On-ear? Over-ear? Wireless? Active noise cancelling? If I were you I would check out some budget options that are not on Ali.

I personally have the following:

  • Apple Earpods - decent sound quality, bad isolation, perfect fit for my ears. At sub $10 they are a good buy. Watch out for fakes on Ali.
  • Sennheiser CX-150 (discontinued, but check out the CX-200) - in-ear, probably not as good as the Earpods, but that may have something to do with the fact that they survived the washing machine.
  • Sennheiser HD201 - best sounding over-ear headphones under $30 easily. The cable is too long for on the road.
  • Sennheiser HD451 - over-ear, more expensive and not as good as the HD201, more base though. Not available in the US.
  • AmazonBasics on-ear headphones - for the price they are decent, maybe even good. They are not nearly as comfortable my over ear headphones, but not bad either.
  • Xiaomi Piston 3 - haven't tested them yet, but good reviews. Worth checking out.

Also, check out /r/budgetaudiophile and /r/headphones though be wary of snobism in the latter.

As I said, pick the one you're willing to pay for. Here is a great pair of Sennheiser earbuds for 20 USD. I assure you they are way better than the stock earbuds.

And that's just $20. If you were to buy a pair of Sennheisers that were a comparable price to AirPods you'd have way way waaaay better earbuds than the stock Apple earbuds.

My oldest son Dylan,17 has asked I not request for him as he would rather his younger brother receive gifts. That being said he would LOVE to get a quality Bluetooth headset like this one from LG. He has a job as a dishwasher and the headphone jack on his phone is...jacked, lol. It only works intermittently.

Thanks for your generosity and Happy B-Day to you! :)

u/ivanhaversham · 0 pointsr/NoStupidQuestions

They’re expensive, sure, but they’re about average for the market on similar items. Bose’s QC 20 earbuds (and they aren’t wireless) are the same price.

u/SoForAllYourDarkGods · 0 pointsr/Fitness

What a coincidence - I'm similar. I have one ear canal wider than the other because of surgery so earbuds fall out.

Not these.

TaoTronics Bluetooth 4.1 Headphones

I got them for the gym and they're great.

u/monkeysaintfun · 0 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Bluetooth headphones? People talking about quality can sod off, moved from Sony MDR EX650AP which are rated as some of the best IEM's around to a pair of £20 TaoTronics Bluetooth headphones and they are on par with them, slightly better in some areas. Voice's aren't quite as laid back as they are with the Sony's. Battery lasts around 5-6 hours as well. I don't have an iPhone 7 so I didn't HAVE to get these but boy are they convenient and sound quality is definitely not an issue.

For anybody who's interested, it's this pair: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B017I9CBPC

When you aren't using them they magnetically snap together to form a necklace. It's nice to be away from cables, plus I can use it on my MacBook Air as well etc.

u/toadsanchez420 · 0 pointsr/headphones

I'm currently in an email conversation with a guy 20 minutes away about buying a Hauppauge HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition Capture Device(not headphones, but bear with me).

I'm selling my Audio Technica ATH-M30X's for $60, almost brand new. He told me he wanted $60 for the device, or $40 plus the headphone. Nope. I'd be losing out big time on those.

So then he said Ok to the $60 for the device, but then offered me $130 Bose Earbuds, presumable these ones for the headphones.

So yeah, they are twice as much, but I'm not sure I want earbuds, and I don't even know the condition. Should I be wary of this trade?

Essentially I can go with

Option A) Buy the PVR for $60(which is $90 less than brand new) and be done with it, OR

Option B) Trade $60 and my M30X's for the PVR and the Bose Earbuds.

I don't understand why he won't do my $60 headphones for his $60 PVR. I can't seem to talk him down to less than $30+ the M30X's.

Really? I saw people recommend the earbuds by bose that have active noise canceling as well as audio technica. Is this the general thought on this sub? I'm not very knowledgable so I may be wrong.

In my experiences they block out some of the sound. However, wouldn't active noise canceling block out significantly more sound, offering a better isolating experience? What I'm saying is that I don't think that the noise isolation completely makes up for active noise canceling.
