Not sure if you mean Type-A (type B is the house shaped one that plugs in the back of older scanners). Type-A is the most common USB plug that have been on computers and most wall chargers forever. Mini Type-B and Micro-Type B are the types of plugs that were on phones before type-C, if that's what you meant.

Anyway I picked up a 4-port charger with 3 Type-A and 1 Type-C (with 60W PD) so it can charge my phone, camera, and whatever else plus charge my Laptop. I keep that in my bag all the time (just need to throw in an appropriate outlet adapter if I'm going international)

You don’t have to use the 5W charger ya know.

Also, swipe down on any page of the home screen to access a search widget that is full system search + web search. And Hey Siri is a thing. Also I can only assume you knew going into it that you were getting an LCD screen so I feel like you shouldn’t complain about it.

u/tsdguy · 26 pointsr/AppleWatch

Naw. The purchased one is cheaper and it's made of TPU so it's soft and flexible.

I printed on in PLA and was always worried that it would scratch something.

Plus I have to say that there are better stands - the watch sometimes doesn't connect with the magnet.

This Spigen stand gives a much more reliable connection to the charger and it's only $8.

Here's my OnePlus One 64gb version in its case, tempered glass screen protector, and Qi receiver.

Everything works fine. The glass catching fingerprints still, though not as easily as the screen did. Edges weren't done great so I imagine they'll collect dust.

The case fits well and even allows for my Pressy unit (which is compatible) to be inserted without any flushness issues. Honestly fits it like a glove.

I'm using a microUSB "B" style Qi receiver to charge. On my TYLT unit, I can have the phone vertical or horizontal and it'll charge still.

I included a photo of all the packaging so you know what brands I bought. If you want to know the specific vendor I bought (and not shop on your own.. I was in a hurry so I paid a premium on all of them, at least 25% over what I could have gotten them if I had the time to wait).

Wireless Receiver

Nillkin Case - Black

Tempered Glass Screen Protector

TYLT Wireless Charger

EDIT: Charging Update!

At 25% charge, I put the phone on my TYLT dock from 12AM-5:30AM; phone was fully charged by the time I woke up! So yes, the charging is at least fast enough to fully charge my phone.

EDIT 2: 2nd Day Charging

At 14% charge, I put the phone to charge at around 11:30PM. At 5:30AM the next day, the phone seemed to have overheated at 76% and had stopped charging. Battery temp showed the phone was overheating at a ghastly 49 Degrees C! I will try one more night to see if it was just a fluke. Anyone want to buy me a new battery? Ha.

EDIT 3: 3rd Day Charging

At 53% charge, went up to 100% overnight. I made sure the receiver was right in the center of the TYLT dock to avoid poor connection.

In the afternoon I hit 17% because the phone was being ridiculous. Put it in the dock vertically without giving it much attention. Went up to 38% in 90 minutes, but the phone was pretty hot. Will charge the rest. If no new edits appear, it means I've stopped having issues with charging.

EDIT 4: ?? 7/15/14 Update

For those of you who want to use the TYLT to charge, be careful. My phone repeatedly overheats using this, going as high as 43C. Some research today shows it may be due to the metal in the phone activating ALL the coils, causing the phone to roast. I will try this official post by TYLT tonight to see if that helps. I have also installed this app from Google Play to monitor my battery and make sure the temperatures don't go too high during my testing, as I don't want to completely destroy my phone's battery in the first month. More reading on the heating issues here

EDIT 5: 7/16/14 Update

I added a block that's 1/2" tall to the bottom of my TYLT unit and then set my phone on top. Additionally, I removed 'High Accuracy' mode on the GPS to Battery Saving and disabled data (because those also generate heat inside the phone). Doing this, my phone never exceeded 38C. Charging overnight, when I awoke my phone was sitting at 100% charge idling at 36.5C, perfectly acceptable!

Tonight I will try to charge using the bottom wedge but leaving Data and High Accuracy on. I have installed Battery Temperature Guard to play an alarm if temperatures exceed 40C (still acceptable as you can reach this while gaming, but I don't want to have my phone sitting at that temp for 4-5+ hours!)

Possible items to use as 'blocks':

  • Legos
  • Mechanical pencil lead holders (stack 2-3)
  • Giant pink eraser
  • Double-sided insulation foam

    EDIT 6: 7/23/14 Update

So it seems sometimes I can charge without any issues, other times the phone will charge very slowly. I've experimented with height positioning with the block mount to lift the phone, it seems anything from 2cm-3/4" will prevent the phone from heating. While charging I do not exceed 36C.

I've also pulled the receiver out just a little so that I can pull the microUSB out of the port in case I need to charge via cable or connect to the computer. Time will tell if that will damage the cable, but for now it looks like it's fine.

    11/17/14 Update:

If you're visiting here still, please note I have STOPPED using a Qi charger in lieu of an actual dock with microUSB connector. The charger worked, yes, but my phone was constantly warm, resulting in shorter battery life on a regular basis. Since removing it, my phone has been cool to the touch, and keeps its charge longer throughout the day.
u/foogles · 22 pointsr/buildapcsales

I bought one of these and have been fairly impressed with it. The first one I got would just power itself down every 15 min or so, so I exchanged it. The second one has been good (one stuck pixel but I don't mind).

The all-metal case is good without much flex. The IO is pretty solid, with two USB-C ports, one USB A 2.0 port, MicroSD, and of course its own small barrel port for the power brick, but you can also optionally charge it over USB-C including with one of those breakout USB-C hubs with Power Delivery and that simultaneously gives you HDMI out, Ethernet, and such (I do this currently using this USB-C PD charger and this hub. There are cheaper USB-C hubs but I wanted one with HDMI and Ethernet output as well as Power Delivery input so I could plug everything in with the one cable).

The keyboard is decent and the layout is right to me, although it's not backlit. The touchpad is basically garbage but I don't mind since I use an external trackball. The screen is IPS and glossy glass with sharp text, but coming from a MacBook or my PowerSpec 1510 laptop, it's rather dim with low contrast. The speed of the machine is fantastic for the price, and the SSD can be easily changed out but I don't know about the RAM. There's no compartment to open just for that and I don't know how to get to it otherwise. (I may never actually need to, but I did look into it when I got it.)

The touchscreen works, but I disabled it because I wanted it to still work with the lid closed and plugged in over HDMI, and when I would close the lid it started clicking spots all over the screen. After disabling the touch screen input driver in Device Manager, no more issues with that. I don't really know what the battery life is like because I mostly will plan on keeping this plugged in. No bloatware at all. You get prompted to buy/install ESET antivirus when you boot, and if you choose no, it will uninstall even that, leaving you with a 100% clean OS with just drivers and a Winbook wallpaper.

You can probably run some form of Linux on this fine, although I've got no idea whether things like the touchscreen, sleep or the battery meter work. The wireless chipset is Intel and the sound is Realtek so I imagine those are fine but don't know for sure.

Trendy:
"upcycled a Huawei watch box as an Apple watch charger".

Fancy:
"repurposed a Huawei watch box as an Apple watch charger"

Plain old English:
"used a Huawei watch box as an Apple watch charger"

Regardless, I think it looks pretty cool, although I'm too lazy to deal with that everyday. I just slap my watch on a $10 Apple Watch charging stand for 30 min a day and call it done.

u/miamikids · 16 pointsr/ProductPorn

It's on Amazon for $499 but its currently unavailable.

u/onnsn · 16 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I should probably know based of what you are saying, but I don't really. So when I have the following Powerbank and I bought a USB-C Cable i shouldn't charge my Switch with it? Or would it be fine?

Edit: Now that I'm taking a closer look at the Cable I was going to order I don't even know if that fits to my powerbank.

This Spigen Apple Watch stand is great. Simple, minimal, and cheap. Gets the job done. People have complained about the tape on the bottom of it, but I just left the plastic on and don't have a problem with it sliding around on my wooden table.

u/tinykingdoms · 14 pointsr/DIY

and at 30$, usually it's more effective to just buy one off amazon. I get that this is DIY, but I bought a 7200mah solar charing battery for 35$

u/InternetUser007 · 14 pointsr/funny

Then you should see the 120k mAh Anker PowerHouse.

u/amgsmdy · 12 pointsr/civ

This!! This is the same case for my 15” MacBook Pro which come with 87 watts. If you use the 13” adapter at 65 it works, but slowly drains the battery under load as u/mixmastakooz states. Then Mac OS kicks in to keep it powered on; you get huge performance hits which are understandable.

As an aside, I always travel with just one adapter for everything and this works for my laptop on planes.

As an aside, u/mixmastakooz does civ 6 have good touch support? I’ve been looking at an XPS 15 or 13 with the 4K touchscreen option.

https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/comments/3u6520/a_breakdown_of_current_band_12_devices_by_size/

How cheap do you want to go?

The Obsidian is on sale at walmart for $40. It's a very impressive device for $40 or $60 though my key complaint about it is that my particular device's screen is fairly dim when it comes to its auto-brightness feature. At least it does auto-adjust its brightness, unlike the LG Leon. Its speaker also punches way above its weight.

Carrier aggregation is a flagship-level feature for the most part. I don't think it's enabled on the snapdragon 210 devices though I know the modem supports 2x10 carrier aggregation- not that it'd be all that useful for most markets. IMO carrier aggregation isn't a very useful feature for most people/locations on tmo... I wouldn't call this a must-have at all, especially if you want to go cheap.

---

My recommendations:

  1. Simple choice, best bang/buck with true midrange performance at $179: LG Stylo

  2. Best flagship value: Nexus 5x @ $350.

  3. Good value with a few tradeoffs while mostly retaining good performance: Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime, $150 @ Walmart.

  4. Nice phone, good value, good look, front-facing speaker, far better screen + 'nicer experience' than the Samsung, lesser price, but less CPU performance: $130 HTC Desire 626s @ Walmart. This could possibly be a better buy than the Samsung but I wrote it first... oh well.

Diminishing returns due to having less than 1.5 GB of RAM

  5. Water resistant, good UI, decent performance, good quality, overall impressive... but 1 GB of RAM: $80 Kyocera Hydro Wave

  6. The absolute cheapest band 12, T-Mobile phone available right now with VoLTE (Edit: no VoLTE and band 12 has to be manually enabled if so desired) and WiFi calling: $40 ZTE Obsidian. It might not be available much longer since ZTE is launching a very similar phone soon that occupies basically the same part of the market with similar specs.

Honorable mention: the $150 Blu Life One X and similar 5.5" Blu Vivo XL (releasing in the next month-ish) perform better than all mentioned except the Nexus. The only real caveat is that these don't have VoLTE, otherwise I'd have purchased >4 already.

    Notes:

  • I don't recommend any of the devices in the top link between the ZTE and the Kyocera.

  • The ZTE is very low end but it is surprisingly decent. It performs somewhere around higher-end Snapdragon 210 devices like the HTC 626s.

  • The ZTE Avid Plus is due to release next month week, Walmart retail options (same phone, discounted price) generally follow in a few weeks. Some features will be better but you'll still only have 1 GB of RAM :(

  • One of the Blu links provided above shows both the Vivo 5 and Vivo XL. According to the specs list, only the XL is acceptable-ish since it has band 12- the 5 doesn't. Oddly, the 5 is supposed to have VoLTE but I'm skeptical. I'm cautious about what features these phones will actually launch with. The spec list is very appealing and the 5 is a sharp-looking phone... we'll have to see about that one later.

  • Not having VoLTE for the Blu phones could lead to not having call service in some rare areas or areas within buildings that only band 12 penetrates. In one case, this led to a /r/tmobile subscriber to be unable to reach 911 with their Moto E... choose cautiously.

  • The Nexus 6 is still an excellent phone and might still be available for $250. It's certainly worth consideration around the top of my list... just depends on your ability to find them at that price, the viability of purchasing them online in such a manner that's kosher with company expense reporting/etc, the manner in which warranty details would be handled, and it's a MASSIVE phone. The LG Stylo is big, but the N6 is huge.

Remember folks, the battery is literally the stomach of your moeblob. Battery stress will be directly voiced as stomach problems, so avoid stressing your moeblob with deep charge cycles and rapid charging; carelessly crashing below 30% is just really rude anyway. Make sure she's relaxed and cool before and during charging. If she's a brainy one, ensure she's not overthinking anything as that alone will heat her up.

Use a high-quality charger and/or cable with a good powerline filter/power surge protector. I like to use ones from Anker. If you have to feed her on the go, I recommend this right here. This will provide her with tons of clean, tasty power.

When it comes time to replace her battery, ensure you can get a replacement from her manufacturer, or an OE equivalent from a reputable company such as LG, Panasonic, Sanyo, or Duracell. You might also want to look into Li-Fe batteries as the lithium-iron phosphate chemical is a lot more stable and has 4x the number of charge cycles. Unfortunately, the Li-Fe batteries aren't as compact and don't have the same voltage as Li-On batteries, so I can only run these in my two larger moeblobs that can compensate for the voltage. They tell me all sorts of good things though, especially that they aren't exhausted and as ravenously hungry, even when being feisty at 20%.

I hope I helped someone. All of these tips will prevent your precious moeblob from being BURNED ALIVE IN A MOLTEN BALL OF LITHIUM ION FIRE

I'm a huge, huge fan of the ipega PG-9023. I even went as far as to do an in depth review on it after I bought it and used it for a few days. I liked it that much; it's a great controller. This one holds the phone in the center though, not above it. On the plus side, I found it has no issues holding a phone while the phone is protected in a case, and it can extend far enough to even fit a 10" tablet if that's your thing.

If you want one with the phone on top, the Moga Pro and supposedly the Madcatz C.T.L.R. are good choices, but I don't have hands on experience with those. I have the ipega PG-9025, but I don't like it. It's very small with poor grip, and with the phone on top it's unbalanced and cramps my hands after a short period of time.

u/r1ch · 8 pointsr/AppleWatch

All I wish was for it to be a little less slippery. I have mine in a case so it's fine, but I pull it out once in a while to clean out the dust (and to marvel at it's beauty). Every time I do I'm sure it's going to launch itself across the room and end up embedded in the wall.

u/queuebitt · 7 pointsr/UsbCHardware

A regular USB-C power bank at 15W won't keep up with a lot of use cases of the laptop. It'll charge the laptop while asleep. Otherwise it'll hold the line or slow down battery drain more often than charge while you use.

No power bank currently on the market will match the power needs a 15-inch laptop with a 90W power adapter has. The upcoming HyperJuice will, as it outputs up to 100W. But it is not released, expensive, and untested by third parties so I wouldn't rush into that.

Your best option right now is a 45W output power bank. They work well with 13-inch laptops, charging while in use. They are still 15W shy of ideal for a 15-inch laptop, but better than any other option. They'll charge while in use under more conditions, but not all conditions. They'll charge fast enough when the laptop is asleep.

I would recommend looking at two specific power banks:

dodocool 20100 45W Type-C PD

  • 45W output, 30W input
  • My review, focused on the Nintendo Switch but also tested with my own 13-inch MacBook Pro

    ZMI QB820

  • 45W output and input
  • My review, focused on the Nintendo Switch but also tested with my own 13-inch MacBook Pro
  • USB hub function, plug a USB-A device into the power bank and it connects to the laptop

For efficiency try one of two charge approaches and see which works better for you.

  1. Plug in the power bank while laptop is at 100%. This will drain the power bank first.
  2. Only plug in the power bank to recharge the laptop up to 80%. At 80% disconnect. Charging any device from 80-100% is the least efficient period.

Anker makes the best cables I currently use this with my Pixel XL in my 2016 civic. Also the 1.5 is just the charge it puts out, it doesn't affect anything else. If you buy this cable and it doesn't work, it's most likely a setting on your phone that's messing with something.

Most covers that aren't "ultra thin" or "snap on" will do the job just fine. I'm using the Spigen Rugged (not Hybrid) case from Amazon and it suits your requirements. It's probably also one of the best covers I've had for a phone.

u/mdwyer · 5 pointsr/amazonecho

Maybe, but I would recommend the Anker anyway. I trust them not to burst into flames when placed under a continuous load. Anker does have a different model with the plug rotated 90 degrees that might fit your outlet better, but it is also more than twice the cost.

Also, a cheap, noisy power supply coupled with cheap speakers without filtering might end up yielding you a lot more noise.

I charge my laptop using a USB-C wall charger. It's the same wall charger that also charges my phone. Being USB powered doesn't mean there has to be computer involved, so why wouldn't a hardware synth be able to charge over USB-C (provided manufacturers were to release new models with the port)?

I have the Smart Keyboard and the Brydge keyboard. I like the Brydge at home but usually, switch back to the Smart Keyboard when on the road.

Either on the side of the iPad or in a bag with some other tech pieces (cables and chargers).

Nope - but I also usually have a window seat and can angle the device more towards the corner if there's an issue. But I'm not working on anything top secret and if someone really wants to watch a film over my shoulder without audio then that's fine.

I personally have and use this Satechi charger though the more powerful port is meant for my laptop (I can and have charged my iPad through it though).

Got this one with great reviews. I checked the reviews on fakespot and it says the reviews are 90% genuine. https://www.amazon.com/Protector-Maxboost-Tempered-Protectors-Accurate/dp/B073DLZWX7

I messed up the first one, but then I with the second figured out how to do it and get it to look perfect. No bubbles and a 99% perfect fit. Still have one extra since it’s a 3 pack.

I prefer to have a cutout for the camera area and I’ve been using iPhones and screen protectors since the iPhone 4S. I’ve never had any damage to the camera area. That way there aren’t any light reflections or etc messing with the light sensor, Face ID, and the selfie camera.

I would avoid this one because the cut out for the notch is wrong. https://www.amazon.com/iPhone-Protector-amFilm-Tempered-Installation/dp/B074ZNLM9J

What you are doing is dangerous, I strongly recommend you just throw that dongle away.

You CANNOT go from USB Type-C to any other type of port with a dongle. That is explicitly forbidden by the USB spec for good reason, as USB C can supply such high amounts of charge, converting blindly to other ports can cause fires.

The short answer to your problem, is you're going to need to buy a USB Type-C to mini/micro USB cable, and not a dongle. The cable will know it's only a mini/micro port and be incapable of charging at the full USB Type-C speeds, but it will charge your speaker properly.

The dongle you own is trying to trick the USB C cable into working with a different type of port, which is why it could be very dangerous because the USB cable itself doesn't know what type of charge to properly send.

If you want to use a dongle, you have to go the other direction, with micro/mini to USB C, which will then limit USB C to the slow charge speed that the cable can actually handle.

EDIT: Just to note, since your pictures are very vague. If that Samsung charger does not have a detachable cable, you'll also need a different charger, where the USB C cable is detachable.

Here are some suggestions to get you down to just a single charger and 1/2 cables:

Edit: used it for a couple hours playing Gun Club VR. Everything fit perfectly. I’m pleased with my purchase. I don’t wear glasses, so I’m not sure about that fit.

u/AnticrombieTop · 4 pointsr/OculusQuest

I've tested out several different ones. Honestly, I didn't like any of the silicone covers. Silicone is supposed to be breathable, but these did nothing for stopping sweat from wicking the sweat to the cloth Quest covering, and they feel 'sticky' after just a bit of use if you take them off and put them back on, even with an alcohol wipe-down (the silicone absorbs a bit).

Also, I don't recommend any of the cloth covers. From my tests after a single wash even in cold-water by hand, they end up stretching in all the wrong ways and tough to get aligned right without leaving gaps or interfering with vision.

My favorite has been a leather cover. The AMVR cover comes with a replacement bracket with velcro attached and two different thickness leather covers. It also has notches in the top corners for the glasses arms. It comes with a nose guard that sticks with double-sided tape at the bottom to block out light, but I don't use that. I got mine on Amazon for $30.

If you do really want to go with silicone, the best of the bunch that I've tried was the "VR Face Silicone Cover Mask & Face Pad" from a seller named Devansi on Amazon. I had to trim around the inside a bit so it didn't interfere with vision.

Here are the links to Amazon (Sorry MOD if it's against the rules; let me know and I'll edit them out)

Best leather cover that I tested: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VT3BM7P

Best silicone cover that I tested: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07X6DJQS1

BTW, the reason why I have tested so many different Quest products (covers, batteries, cords, cases) is to recommend setups for VR training. I wanted to find the best ones that would allow easy wipe-down in-between sharing among different user.

Usually they'll have one of those small honda generators. They're really quiet. You're not supposed to have generators in GA, IIRC, but lol rules. They're hot items for theft too, so be careful.

Alternatively, I've seen people use the power packs like for car emergencies that have the regular plug outlets. They'll die pretty quickly with continuous use, so sometimes people bring a fee, but they're easily $100 each(example: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FYJVFNK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_LemSCb8F83D33) . They take forever to recharge, so it's not likely you'll be able to do it at the park. Or you can get this beast: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0196GQAKM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_1bmSCbK96YA6M

I use the CTA Digital case. I also have the official Sony Travel Pouch for keeping the 3 parts of the charger, though to fit the Vita in there with the brick and USB cable, I have to take the part that plugs into the electrical outlet (the figure 8 cable) out or else it's too tight of a fit. Also if you've got Sony's official external battery pack, that can fit where the bricks goes in the pics.

I also have the following 2 cases made by HORI which I'm not using atm. The blue I'm intending on using with the Aqua Blue slim I'm planning on getting in July so I have both the OLED and slim Vitas, and maybe sometime the pink one if I want to carry games as the blue one unfortunately doesn't hold any.

If you like to tinker with stuff you can get a close (but rough) imitation of a DIY laptop using the Motorola Atrix Lapdock with a board like the Odroid XU or the Odroid XU Lite.

If you google "raspberry lapdock" you'll find many guides that will help you to get started.

If you want a "full" DIY experience you'll have to hunt down the parts. Example:

  • the Screen
  • the Controller (also check you get the proper controller for your screen, i just posted random ones)
  • the board of your choice (Odroid, UDOO, something with a decent CPU/GPU)
  • a small keyboard (this have a touchpad, also here a random one)
  • a proper battery pack (you need 12v to run the LCD usually, unless you tinker a lot with it)
  • all the peripherals (bluetooth dongles, wifi dongles, usb sticks, sd cards, HDDs, speakers)

You'll need some decent electronics knowledge, linux experience and lots of patience.

Recently i wanted to build a 11.6" laptop with a UDOO Quad board (since i could get one from a friend for a low price), after choosing all the parts i wanted, the cost was about 220€ (270$).

The hardest part is putting everything togheter in a case. I would recommend a 3d printed one or laser cut one but remember that it won't ever look as good as a manufactured laptop.

This will be by no means an easy or cheap project. You're going to put much time and money into it. If you value the experience itself above everything else, go for it. If you just want a laptop, buy one.

P.S. Probably i made some mistake here and there, so forgive me. Also, i'm no expert, iìm just a guy that likes to put projects on paper and never actually build them because i lack the money or the tools. So, take my word for what it's worth :)
u/studdmufin · 3 pointsr/PanasonicG7

let me preface this with: You do this at your own risk, while I haven't had issues does not make me responsible if anything of yours breaks.

The camera technically uses a 7.2v battery even tho the bottom of the camera says it accepts 8.4v. I'm not sure why there is a discrepancy.

Any battery bank with a 9v dc out would work. (Smart Phone Controller) MOGA $30-80

(Tablet Controller) Side Mounted Tablet Controller $30

(Keyboard) Cheap Bluetooth Keyboard ~$15

Roughly comes to 230 if you got everything . Since you get all that in a little package, the price tag is understandable IMO.

u/ArgyleGoesHollywood · 3 pointsr/nexus6

I recently got this iPega from Amazon for $30. Never heard of the brand before but I decided to spring for it since, like you, I don't like using touch screen buttons for playing classic, emulated games.

I've only tried it with Snes9x so far and it's been great. You don't have to download an app, just hold the controller's home & X buttons simultaneously to sync via Bluetooth. I like the design of the phone sitting between the controls, rather than the standard of the phone being elevated above the controller, since it makes it feel like one game system rather than a phone and separate accessory.
The buttons and joysticks are all responsive and feel pleasant to press, although the Start/Home/Select buttons are small, easily overlooked, and awkwardly sit under your left hand, but otherwise the layout is comfortable.

The only problem is that the Nexus 6 is so thick in the middle that the controller can't secure it if you have most cases on. But what I did was take off the grip pad that the phone is supposed to sit on, which removes without difficulty, and that gave me just enough room to tuck both sides of the phone into the nooks on either side of the controller. That plus the clasp in the middle/bottom of the controller and the locking mechanism for the slider give you enough security to play even while lying down with the phone elevated above you.

So far, I definitely recommend it, especially given the reasonable price, although as I said I have yet to try it with other emulators or games.

u/NTolerance · 3 pointsr/EmulationOnAndroid

If you're serious about emulation you might want a decent D-pad. In my opinion the Moga and Sixaxis have subpar D-pads. This is the best one I've found:

I use a black carbon skin with red carbon text and camera inlay. Looks fucking amazing, adds very little to the size of the phone and adds a basic protective value.

Check out the skins and see if there's one you like. Another bonus is you can get multiple cases and multiple skins and swap them with minimal effort.

Also if you're into wood grain Toast has some nice looking stuff, but you'd need to put that on the phone it's self since it wraps.

u/Ausvego · 3 pointsr/Nexus6P

I bought both of these cases myself, actually. I didn't like the Rugged Armor case, the hole on the back is very small, with steep edges, which makes the angle your finger has to be at to unlock the phone rather unnatural, and hard to reach. I really liked the SUPCASE, the hole on the back is really big, so very easy to unlock, and it's good protection for the phone, as well as the clear back looking nice. It does add a bit of bulk to the phone, so I have opted for another one, a different Spigen case, which is on my phone now. It's a lot better than the rugged armor one in terms of the fingerprint scanner, but still not as easy access as the Supcase. It is very low-profile, though, which isn't a huge amount of protection, but if you're like me, and rarely drop your phone, it's good, and looks nice. If I'm traveling, or in a situation where my phone might be used a little more roughly, I would definitely prefer the Supcase over anything else.

Yes, When I had my EV I would drive under 50 miles almost every day.

Regarding the product i couldn't find a data sheet or specifications on your website.

That said from photos, and comments here, it appears to be a 5kWh external battery pack, able to be charged from a standard wall outlet (using a tiny wall wart), and with an integrated inverter powerful enough to run a factory volt EVSE (I assume something like 15A at 110V?)

Your website shows a slim female carrying the device with one hand, and you advertise the price as USD999. You state on reddit the current charge time from a wall outlet is 6 hours.

There are a few technical issues with the above that you really should look into.

Weight As an example, the chevy bolt battery pack holds 60kWh, and weights 440kg. Your pack is to be 12 times smaller, so weight will be at least 37 kg (prob more as packaging in a smaller pack will be less efficient. A 2kW inverter will be 5 - 8 kg, therefore your minimum weight will be 42 - 45kg's. No way your slim female is carrying that with one hand wearing heels.

Cost A 6.4kWh powerwall runs as USD3000. Your price is under a third of that, and you need to include an inverter & charger that will run to hundreds of dollars...

Wall Wart To charge in 6 hours, you will need to charge at 830Watts. I don't think any wall wart goes that high.

-------------------------------------------------

Take a look at what is already on the market:

0.4kWh, 300W output battery bank for USD390, 12.36 pounds

Anker 0.4kWh, USD500, 9.36 pounds

1.1kWh, 1100W output, USD1,749, 20 pounds

You specs require something about 10 to 12 times the capacity / inverter power as the first two items, and about 5 times the capacity / inverter power of the last one.

As such I would expect you would need to price your device at around USD 6000, and expect it to weigh 100pounds (roughly 50kg).

With those numbers the proposal is a lot less attractive. 50kg's is very hard to move by hand, and $6000 is a lot of money to tie up in a battery bank. (I wouldn't want to leave that unattended as I charged during the day). Also that money would go a long way in terms of just buying a longer range EV in the first place (Price jump from a 30kWh Leaf to a 60kWh Chevy Bolt in the USA is $6000) and that buys you a 6x the additional range of your 5kWh power pack, with convenance to boot... (no charging car and power pack each night (just charge car), no lugging around heavy power pack. no need to change except at night (every second night) for your 40/ 50 mile days)...

Spigen Rugged Armor.

Pros : Minimum bulk, adds grip, easy to install/remove as it's flexible.

Cons : It hides the nice Aluminium back of the phone and logo. But there is the Ultra Hybrid case which is transparent.

Coupled with the Orzly 2.5D TGSP V2. Some people notice the dotted layer on the TGSP, but I don't, at all... Have to make sure that it is perfectly applied and centered so it doesn't interfere with the case.

Spigen Rugged Armor. I have the OtterBox too, but the Spigen just feels a lot better. It's cheaper too.

I was looking into this today. Both aukey and anker seem to be making fairly compact dual port quick charge adapters.

Also found a 10,000mAh battery from ravpower that has quick charge input. Anyone using these adapters or battery?

u/bthejam · 3 pointsr/Ultralight

Can someone tell me the difference between these 3 10,000mAh Anker external batteries? One
Two
Three

I don't know the difference between Quick Charge 3.0;PowerIQ, PowerIQ, and PowerIQ II.

This is the wall charger I have. Which one of those external batteries will work best with my wall charger??

u/ExternalUserError · 3 pointsr/onebag

Minus the battery, this is as close as I could find. I ultimately gave up on having it combined with the battery, and I think that was for the best, actually. To include a battery and circuitry cable of delivering 45W+ would be too heavy. There is shit like the Omni Ultimate (and they have delivered successful projects before), but it's just not worth the huge weight and space.

I go with the Nekteck and a small USB C battery pack for my phone.

u/tockef · 3 pointsr/GooglePixel

This one is better I'm with 45W output vs the 30W linked in the other reply. Less bulky too.

Dunno how big your pockets are, but this is what I use. It's kinda big but it'll charge your phone for several days:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072BD98CM/

Whatever battery you opt for, make sure it has "PD" in the description. This means it'll fast charge your phone.

Wireless charging probably isn't the best bet for travel; you wanna be able to stuff your phone + battery into a backpack, airplane seat back, etc while it charges, and get the charging done rapidly.

I got the Diztronic case in matte black for my gold XS. I’ve owned diztronic cases for the iPhone 6, 6s, and 7. I’ve owned a couple of other cases but I somehow always go back to this brand. The matte blue used to look amazing with the phones with white faces, but this is the first time I’m opting for the matte black. Hoping the gold shows through the camera cutout.

Try the Spigen rugged armor case. I'm using it right now on my 3T. It looks much better irl than in pics, and it feels very protective and thin. Spigen is also a trustworthy brand.

u/mightyprometheus · 2 pointsr/oneplus

I've decided to go with the Spigen case and 5 pack Orzly screen protectors.

If you're going to spend that much on a charger you may as well buy an Anker with more ports.

u/arunphilip · 2 pointsr/GalaxyNote9

Samsung sell this for 7 USD.

Else, pick up an Anker charger & cable, they're a trusted and reliable brand. They even sell multi-port chargers, so you can charge more than one device at a time.

I hate to break it to you, but Anker's USB-C charger does not fast-charge the iPad Pro. Here's the response I got from Anker when I asked them about it.

'Glad to hear that you are interested in Anker products. Also, I highly recommend pairing the phone with the caseology parallax case and spigen full coverage screen protector. The spigen goes edge to edge and doesn't cutoff any of the lcd. I would definitely go with a Spigen screen protector if you're going to go with one. It covers the whole screen, and also works with the Caseology Parallax. I have the same case, with the Spigen screen protector here's my setup: https://imgur.com/gallery/Szvz1 the screen had a bubble but it's normal and went away in a few days. I've gotta say it's been my favorite screen protector I've had. Here's the screen protector: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N63XLQ6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_7XVLybWQ5M6QT

Do you bubbles disappear when you put pressure on them and then re-appear after you remove pressure? If so, then the curvature of the screen is your problem. I used these on the Pixel's that my GF and I both use. No bubbles, perfect fit. I trusted the online review of other screen protectors and it really paid off.

They make them for the Pixel XL as well.

I bought these:
Screen protector
Case

Had them since Oct 2017 and still going great. Case is tight, not stretched. I cracked one screen protector with my keys and bought another.

Only issue I've had with the screen protector is it doesn't adhere to the screen, it just sticks around the edge.. so I get dust under it occasionally. But, it's also easy to pull off (intentionally mind you) and clean, so you can re-apply it and it works great again. Looks great.

u/jbaiter · 2 pointsr/thinkpad

I am using a Coosa 72W USB-C charger with my T480s. This model ("PDS75-4UTO1") is sold under different brandings for around €30-€40, e.g. this Nekteck charger on US Amazon. It can charge at 20V and 2A, i.e. 40W.

I also bought a RAVPower 26800mAh Powerbank which can charge the laptop at 15V/2A, i.e. 30W without any problems.

u/chx_ · 2 pointsr/GooglePixel

The /r/UsbCHardware moderator team is at your service providing information on all USB C hardware, even in other subreddits. In other words, you can run but you can't hide :D

Anker, as mentioned, is a great choice, it's one of the trio we always recommend especially for cables (AmazonBasics-Monoprice-Anker), however to give you better advice, I'd need to know what wattage do you need from the PD port. If you only want to charge Pixel, may I recommend the Xiaomi Mi 60W Fast+QC+PD usb charger CDQ06ZM? Here's a test from a highly reputable test site. If you search aliexpress (or just google 32857580730) you can find it for just 25 USD which is a great price for this many ports on a quality charger. I won't link to avoid spamming.

Should you need to charge a laptop, https://smile.amazon.com/Certified-Charger-Nekteck-Delivery-Station/dp/B0712252ZQ has only three USB A ports (but you said you only needed three) and these three USB A ports are sharing 2.4A (the previous one had four sharing 4.8A plus a fifth completely standalone) however the USB C port is 60W, the charger is UL and USB IF certified and still < 30 USD.

Yeah heading to Tokyo, so on a long flight + trains throughout the trip - but trying to keep things light / somewhat minimal, thus leaning the QB820 for flexability + usb hub etc... but it is a close call! As I wont be using the power bank the full flight time - (10ish hrs) I think the 20,000 should do the job + will be able to recharge it at the hotel on arrival etc...
On the topic of recharging, I prefer black / darker stylings - do you have any black/dark wall AC usb PD chargers that would work well with the QB820 ?

Also - would this adapters USB C power outlet work to fast charge back up the QB820 ?

u/comradelochenko · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

This battery bank I got recently is cool because it can also charge laptops and power the Switch dock (if you'd ever want to do that for some reason).

For a case, I have a rebranded version of this case that I've only ever heard good things about. It's pretty great... they also made a larger version apparently that can hold the AC adapter.

Edit: There is a matching AC adapter for the battery bank that's good for travel. I use it to charge the Switch and power my Nintendo dock that I moved to smaller plastics for travel and bringing to friend's houses.

The XL gets pretty good battery life. I average about 7-8 hours of play and 3 days in standby.
The only extended XL battery I've seen is the Mugen, which is both unnecessarily expensive and bulky. I'd say you're better off buying an USB charging cable and a portable USB battery pack if you really need more play time. I travel around with two PS Portable Chargers. They are small, very light, work very well for my HTC One, 3DS XL and PS Vita.

u/Gessen · 2 pointsr/vita

No worries. Here's the one I use. Works great! Also, side bonus, works for your PS4 controller if you're playing beyond the charging cable's reach.

I'm getting this one in tomorrow:

I was considering picking up the Sony one until I found I could get twice the capacity with two ports for 7 bucks more.

u/Chrisfand · 2 pointsr/vita

Do you know how that charger compares to this one?

I'm curious as to which one would give more battery charge

EDIT: Just answered my own question by Googling. At 10,000mAh, the one you listed has more than double the battery capacity of the charger I listed (5,000 mAh).

For reference, the PS Vita battery is 2,210 mAh, so more than 4X the battery life with the charger you listed!

If battery time is a big enough concern for travel, I'd consider picking up one of these bad boys like I did. I've used it while traveling and I've never run out of battery. It's enough to get the vita up to a full charge.

u/ClangGang · 2 pointsr/vita

The vita is picky with where its taking power from, It’ll only accept 1.5v! I had a anker power bank that was 2.4 and it wouldn’t accept the charge at all so i purchased the official portable charger battery for the vita and it works just fine. Pretty cheap right now too! https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B006JKARP8/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1517772043&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=ps+vita+power+bank&dpPl=1&dpID=41CJmuKxLGL&ref=plSrch

Engineer here, but I do lots of reports (Bluebeam for PDF, Office 365).

Scaling is a real thing - it's annoying but not show stopping. When you dock/undock certain things are likely to not work 100% correct. (1) if your scaling is difference, the scaling on apps may or may not work right. 99% of the time it's still usable, but 1% of the time it is not. When you dock, your USB ports may not sync up right (I have a Logitch G13 Gaming pad I use for CAD shortcuts...it's hit or miss). When you undock, the audio might not work exactly right.

Logging out and immediately back in (not rebooting, takes ~6 seconds if you aren't running programs) fixes all of it. Both on dock and on undock. The bad news is that you have to exit out of everything that is running when you log out. It's a pita for me as I have ~8 chrome windows open with multiple email and web apps. If it's word and Drawboard it's nothing - they will offer to bring you back to where you were when you last exited. I run 2 - 4k, 42" monitors off the dock. It took some fiddling, I'll be honest. I've heard lower res monitors are not so fussy.

The active adapter seems to be somewhat funny - some people need them, some don't.

Accessories: I still prefer a real mouse, and the MX Master is very nice. Also, I have a MS Designer BT keyboard. It matches (mostly) the layout on the typecover and, as such, is very easy to switch back and forth efficiently. Since my 2 monitors are so large, I've taken to putting my SP4 in front of one of them, and the keyboard and mouse in front of the other. Lazy? sure. Efficient? yes. You're probably billing twice what I am (maybe more), every second counts.

Nothing on the market is faster, lighter, and has a digitizer pen. Which reminds me - you're going to want some external batteries if you have to spend all day in court and don't have a power outlet. 6 hours is going to be the outside of what to expect from the battery under your loading conditions. You can extend that by force sleeping more frequently (close the lid - it wakes in a fraction of a second), but your screen time is what it is. You might have 3-4 units in the office you can share and take with you "just in case". Even something small like this: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00935L44E/ will give you an extra 4+ hours of "on" time if paired with a SP4 charging cable (~$10-12)

I have a ton of liPo's for RC toys. HERE is my travel setup. All you need is 12 volts +- 5%. There are also POWER PACKS on amazon that are plug and play with the base stations.

You can even use a battery for the HMD. Which I did for a while but ended up going with a boost from 5v USB to 12v.

Hello,
So I work Support for Teradek so obviously there is some bias. I can give some insight on the solutions as from my perspective as some of the pro's vs the LiveU.

  1. I can tell you that Teradek boxes give the best quality for the bitrate. We've tuned that processor well.
  2. Teradek devices don't require a service unless you are bonding or want to do simulcasting. The LiveU devices become bricks if you don't purchase their service.
  3. Teradek has better API support. I believe the bottom level LiveU devices support RTMP only.

Battery requirements would need to be 6-12 volts and I would suggest having a battery that has barrel connection outputs similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/XTPower-MP-10000-External-10000mAh-included/dp/B00935L44E/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1521828393&sr=1-4&keywords=power+bank+with+12v+output

As another note, if you are going to do switching between cameras, you need to have a seamless switcher, maybe something like this: https://www.amazon.com/HUIERAV-Multi-Viewer-Seamless-Function-Support/dp/B01M8I6SKL

I pm'ed vk2zay (Alan Yates) a while ago. Initally, I wanted to go with eneloop batteries + casing. I changed my mind.

Me:

(...) I wanted to ask a question which has been @reddit for several times, but there's no exact
defintive: I want to use batteries to power the Lighthouses. (...) Will the AC port still be the same
on the consumer version and do you think this will work fine with the setup I am going for (12V)?

vk2zay:

Yes, it is still 12 Volts. It is better to use a regulated supply like these:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00935L44E I've never tested a simple
collection of cells, it may work fine.

u/DutchMasta · 2 pointsr/arizer

That is a 5V battery pack for cell phones and tablets. You need a 12V source to charge the solo.

Something like this:

http://amzn.com/B00935L44E

You could also buy a 12V solar panel and charge the solo that way.

Since everyone else is telling you it isn't possible, I'm just gonna recommend an actual wireless charger. TYLT VU. Looks great on my desk and any time my phone isn't in my hand, it's on the charger. Bonus that the stand is tilted and I can see notifications at a glance. Haven't plugged my N6 in once since I got it. I can confirm the black and red colors look great in person.

I have the Samsung back, this charger and this windshield mount for my car. It's convenient, but I find that my phone overheats a lot. I oscillate back and forth on whether to keep the back on the phone or not. I also find that it makes it impossible to use some of the battery packs like the mophie case.

u/ShmifandWeshun · 2 pointsr/EDC

Kingston DTSE9 - Small little metal 16GB USB drive that's meant to go on your keys. I've had mine for 3 years and I love it. It's gets this really nice beaten-up, stonewashed finish after rubbing on your keys for awhile. You can see how small it is on my keys here.

Fenix E12 - Compact single AA flashlight that is a great size for putting in your pocket/bag. I have the previous model, the E11, and I love it. Fairly bright for a single AA.

Leatherman Bit Set - I just recently bought this for myself, and it's amazing. I have a Leatherman Wave and a Skeletool CX which use Leatherman bits; some of the lower end Leathermans don't use these. This comes with torx, phillips, flat, hex, and small eyeglass bits.

Solar Panel Cell Phone Charger - I keep this exact model in my backpack with a 6" USB cable. It's basically just a small solar panel with a USB port. Really nice build quality for the price, and it works great. It can charge my phone twice without needing to be charged via computer or sunlight.

I think all of this is under $80 cumulatively.

u/donutsalad · 2 pointsr/army

I bought this one. But I guess it's discontinued now. It worked well enough for me. I put it on a window sill more often than I put it in direct sunlight and it still charged.

u/crankypants15 · 2 pointsr/collapse

No. Not much of the US population lives in areas of the US that are consistently sunny, or windy, to use solar or wind power. Some areas can use both, but the expense is way too high right now to use both. If I got solar and wind systems for free would I use them? Of course! I think they are neat! I simply cannot afford them, nor can I afford to put money out on cheaper systems which will break in 5 years.

My little solar charger to recharge my phone takes 7 days to recharge itself in a Michigan winter. That is not useful in the winter. It takes about 8 hours in the summer. That's a huge difference of energy coming from the sun. And I can't afford any bigger PV panels.

I'd LOVE to have that chip that converts waste heat to electricity directly but it seems they can't get it off the ground. It's a lab curiosity only.

I've been using the Spigen dock since I got my S1 and it's been great. It's dirt cheap and enables the desk clock/nightstand mode. Soft touch, rubberized feel and takes up very little space on my nightstand. Both include a little bumper to adjust for the 38mm, as they're setup for the 42mm out of the box. I personally don't like the vent mounts, but love the magnetic mount concept. I also don't use optical media, so seemed like the perfect use for my CD slot.

I remember it being cheaper, and the one downside is it doesn't seem to work in all CD slots equally - works great in my car, not at all in my truck. I would avoid this thing tho, it broke within a week.

I found the vent mounts were the same, did not work equally in all vehicles (different vent designs work better than others for a mount).

Edit - found a cheaper one that looks similar to the one I have.

I'd recommend the Spigen Thin Fit. Pictures here.

I bought one, and I absolutely love it. The material is similar to the soft-touch back on the Nexus 5 which helps make it grippy while staying minimal. The exposed buttons are my preference for cases and I now hate the adopted case I originally bought with the phone. I agree with you that almost every 6P case is extremely ugly, but not the Thin fit.

Still allows the white to peek out but with added grip/protection compared to the bare aluminum.

Also preordered a Rhino Crash Guard bumper.

u/BenderB · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

2 best cases, in my opinion, are the Spigen Rugged Armor and the Spigen Thin Fit. They both fit perfectly (even with a screen protector) and look and feel great. Just depends on the amount of bulk/protection you want.

u/AJ_M · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

Hey, welcome to Fi! I got my sim chip, but I have to wait until Feb. 22 to switch over because I'm still on contract. I'll join you soon though ;)

There is a great thread about a modular stand. Also, I just bought this case, it's on a 70% discount right now.

u/GamersCorp · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

I am an avid biker, and have tried MANY different mounts. The only one that I have found to work perfectly is the Quad Lock Bike Mount. I use it attached to this case, which I only put on while I bike. I highly recommend this setup.

u/Honsou · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

I have an Aluminum 6P, and I went with the black Spigen Thin Fit case. I really hate bulky cases, so this one is great for me. It's the bare minimum protection, so it doesn't add much bulk. And it actually improves the phone in my opinion. The power/volume buttons were so easy to hit accidentally, now they're recessed and that never happens. Adds more grip to the phone as well. And I've dropped my phone a few times since getting the case, and haven't experienced any damage. Protects the corners, lifts the screen. (though I also have a tempered glass protector) Can't recommend it enough!

First of all, do not buy a T-mobile phone or an ATT phone company phone.

Tand A go out of their way to limit the phones by hiding bands and other crap.

Save yourself lots of headaches and get an UnLocked phone with both ATT and Tmobile
Unlocked phones just optimize your options for the future. Swithch between various Tmo and Att Options.

At this point, I'd say the $150 Blue Life One X is the best bang for the money.

u/gp_aaron · 2 pointsr/ThunderBay

Contact prices definitely are cheaper right now with their new promotions. Some phones are really priced low for their commitment prices and the monthly plans are lower than they previously were ($70 vs $75).

However if you look outside of the phone offerings that Tbaytel has, you can definitely turn the table on those figures. OnePlus X for $329 CAD, Sony M4 Aqua $270 CAD, Moto G (2015) $245 CAD, BLU Life One X $206 CAD

Bringing the total cost over 2 years somewhere between $1406 and $1529 vs $1680 if one was to take a 'free' phone on a new contract at $70/month.

EDIT: There are some 'free' phones Tbaytel is currently offering that are way better than the above listed ones. HTC One M9 for example; $560 cheapest price online for new + $1200 ($50 24) = $1760 vs $1680 ($70 24). Other free phones, not so much. Moto X Play at $420 outright is cheaper to buy outright, Moto E at $200 outright is a rip off in the first place considering it's $160 from Motorola directly but even at $200 is still cheaper than on contract.

u/Rucka4prez · 2 pointsr/AndroidQuestions

I'm sorry I meant the Blu Life "One" X. I was confused because it is the same price as the Moto G 2nd Gen. The only reason I would pick the Moto G is because of the unlockable bootloader. If you want to do VR I highly suggest picking the Blu because of the higher resolution.

First one that comes to mind (that IIRC just got released) is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. Though I'm not a fan of MIUI (rather, it's slow and dubious update history), it'll be similarly sized and well priced in typical Xiaomi fashion.

Though it's not a "future" release, Blu just released their Life One X (2016) for a staggering $150. Despite the price, it has a 1080p 5.2" screen, 13mp camera, is on 5.1.1 and is confirmed to get Marshmallow in early 2016. It'll probably have significantly better band support in the US than Xiaomi's offerings - hell, it even has Band 12 support. That said, I don't know if it has NFC support or not.

Edit: Apparently Alcatel was planning a One Touch Idol 3X (with an AMOLED display and a more "premium" feel than the Idol 3), but it was cancelled. What a shame, I bet it would have been a marvelous phone for the price.

With some searching around, I was able to find a good phone.

  1. Blue Life One X

    Pros:

    16 GB of memory

    2 GB of RAM
    13 MP camera

    Runs 5.1 lolipop

    1.3 GHZ Octacore processor

    Has Corning Gorilla Glass 2

    Has dual sims

    Cons:

Cost 138 Euros, 38 over your budget - but you would have to be a fool to not get it

*Has no modding community, although it runs Lolipop and has great specs, so I don't see how it would be an issue

u/Vliger2002 · 2 pointsr/tmobile

While this one won't meet all your desired specifications, at a mere $149, consider the Blu Life One X (2016). It's compatible with T-Mobile and has Band 12. So unless they work with T-Mobile, HD Voice and VolTE and Wifi Calling won't make it in. Supposedly Marshmallow will come to the device around March 2016. It does have a MediaTek Octacore (roughly around the performance of the Snapdragon 801 often used last year), dual-sim slot, MicroSD card support, 2GB of RAM, 13MP and 5MP cameras, an aluminum frame, and 5.2" 1080P display. But reading some reviews, it lacks in some areas that some may find crucial

It's not an amazing device that'll blow your socks off. But at the price point (especially if you got it for $99 when it first launched 2 weeks ago), it's a great device–definitely better than a Galaxy S3.

I did manage to pick up a couple of ZTE ZMax's for $45 at Walmart (under Family Mobile) before they first stopped selling them. That's also a great low-mid end device (great battery life).

I also have used the Moto X Pure. Currently, no Wifi-calling (not sure about HD Voice and VoLTE, either. Does have Band 12 support on Marshmallow now.

The best device that meets your requirements is the Nexus 5X. For the price of $329, you get timely updates directly from Google, you get HD Voice, VoLTE, Band 12 and Wifi-Calling, fast charging, USB Type C, a great display, and more.

Realistically, it all depends on how much you want to spend and what features you want.

This is the one that I use. I think they have a shorter one available as well. I'm a fan of Anker products. I do wish they offered a 10ft one of these though. I used a 10ft micro usb for my last phone at my bedside and loved it for that little bit of extra freedom it allowed me while charging. This chord though, works great although doesn't charge as quickly as the pure C chord, but I think that's the case with all USB-C to USB-A (I might be wrong)

u/klisejo · 1 pointr/vita

Maybe pick up one of these external batteries. They're supposed to be pretty good. I have a nyko grip and that does enough for me.

I'd rather drop $25 on a battery than dim the screen. Personal preference.

u/Dedale · 1 pointr/vita

Mine was a day one purchase and I'm only starting to look at replacing the battery now. The process seems easy but first you need to find a new battery and that's not so easy... well, we'll see.

I travel quite intensively and my flights are usually between 4 to 10 hours.
I don't have any issue with the vita's battery as it is as I don't use BT and always put the plane mode when needed and of course make sure that when that I have less than 50% left, I charge it.

Also, if I may suggest, buy this. It's really neat. It can give you two more charges and it's small enough to fit in a travel bag / backpack.

I would say go for the first gen and enjoy. I don't plan to upgrade to the 2000 simply because I like my Vita as it is. We'll see for the next model which will be released in 18 months :)

u/massiveCan · 1 pointr/vita

In your opinion which of the two is better? I'm on the fence about this. If I get the battery packs everyone is referring to, battery doesn't factor in as much. I'm sure I will gripe about it when flying to India but that's another issue.

How did you feel with the difference in screen quality? Did you feel there was enough positive change to justify getting the slim PSVita?

*edit added question and corrected spelling.

$70 is kinda expensive. If it had battery extension and thumbstick extension for that price it would be ok.But thats very pricy now.

Yeah I think there is a certain current requirement of the Vita, I'm not sure what it is though. Sony makes an official one but it has a pretty small capacity: http://www.amazon.com/PS-Vita-Portable-Charger-Sony/dp/B006JKARP8/

u/Vitalicious · 1 pointr/vita

It's not the voltage, it's the amperage. You need at least 1.5mA to be able to charge while playing.

I use the official PS Vita Portable Charger from Sony.

https://www.amazon.com/PS-Vita-Portable-Charger-Sony/dp/B006JKARP8

It's not a great charger though, you can find external batteries with way more capacity than this one out there with a better price. When I bought mine it was only 10 dollars, that's why I bought it.

u/0ut1awed · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

I'm able to game on the Vita off Wi-Fi for 5 hours or so if I remember correctly. Pretty long for sitting there constantly gaming. You could always get this as well.

But shipping is the factor as I feared so fair enough.

I'm pretty sure the available external battery marketed for the vita can charge other usb devices as well, so single purpose may not be a concern.

u/dudenow12 · 1 pointr/craftymighty

I think something like this would work since it has a 12v dc output port and would charge the mighty. I don't know that other USB battery packs output the 12v that the Mighty requires to charge.

The dimensions look like its slighty smaller than the Mighty itself.

https://www.amazon.com/XTPower-MP-10000-External-10000mAh-included/dp/B00935L44E/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1510634288&sr=8-2&keywords=battery+pack+with+dc

u/afrotec · 1 pointr/Surface

What external battery do you have? You need one that's capable of 12v output. USB 3.0 standard is 5.0v I believe, so any external battery capable of 12v output will probably use a barrel-type plug for power output, like this battery: http://www.amazon.com/XTPower-MP-10000-External-10000mAh-included/dp/B00935L44E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1462827268&sr=8-1&keywords=12v+external+battery

So you'd need a SP4 to barrel connector cable + a 12v output external battery. Or an S3 that charges using conventional usb standard connectors

Hello Devlin,

There are many options for batteries to use with lighthouse.

Smaller battery Options:

Amazon: Anker 2nd Gen Astro Pro2 20000mAh

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005NGLTZQ

-OR-

Amazon: XTPower® MP-23000 Power Bank

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00935L44E

These two battery options have everything you need to plug right into the lighthouse basestations in the box. And should last about 6 ish hours. They no longer sell the exact unit that we have which is the "XTPower MP-10000" which was the cheapest option.

Large Battery Options:

1: V Lock Battery:

https://www.globalmediapro.com/dp/A00TS6/Globalmediapro-Li160S-Lithium-ion-Battery-160WH/

-OR-

2: Anton Bauer Battery:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/700043-REG/Anton_Bauer_DIONIC_HCX_Dionic_HCX_Li_ion_Battery_120WH_14_4V.html

And you will also need:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1041878-REG/litepanels_8375_0176_anton_bauer_qrc_lg_gold.html/prm/alsVwDtl

These are the two larger batteries we use for lighthouses when we need them mobile. The V-Lock batteries are the best because they normally have D-Tap connections built into them. However I have not found a nice battery mount that attaches to a lightstand for V-Lock batteries. But if you buy Anton Bauer batteries you can get a mount that goes directly on a light stand easily with D-tap ports as listed above. However it is the D-Tap connection that we need in the end.

D-Tap to Lighthouse Cable:

Amazon: D-Tap to Lighthouse Cable:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D0HPTRO

This is the cable we specifically got because it is the cheapest and is long enough to reach the batteries with the mounts we have on the light stand.

You can create your own custom setup of batteries as long as there is a D-tap connector that comes off the battery/batteries. I can post links to another idea/cheaper idea for a D-tap solution.

I will soon be getting the BMPCC 4K and thought I'd ask about my current power solution for my Canons. I've been using the following combo for the past 4 years and have had zero problems. I wondered why I hadn't seen an external pack like people use for their smartphones, so I googled. Turns out someone has found a way to use a specific external Lithium Ion pack with a "dummy" battery on a cord. Here you go:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00935L44E/

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B006IPL8FC/

Should give you significant uptime compared to a grip. Here's the video I found it from:

https://youtu.be/4OXD3ENA_UA

u/vk2zay · 1 pointr/Vive

I've had good experiences with these off-the-shelf packs:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00935L44E/
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XMM4ZZE/

This one isn't regulated but works fairly well with some loss of sync range as the battery depletes:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016BJCRUO/

Many similar ones are suitable. Better to use regulated ones than simple "12V" battery packs, which are typically 12.3-12.6 V fully charged and drop off as the batteries discharge. The slightly higher voltage is fine, as is the drop towards 9 Volt, but their management ICs will normally cut off the load before the cells might be damaged by excessive discharge. The low voltage cut-out in the base will turn off the base station before it might get confused by too low a voltage if the battery pack is unprotected - such as with primary cell holders.

u/edge11 · 1 pointr/Filmmakers

You don't have to go that expensive Plus based on his budget I don't think op needs to. You can get away with using this guy https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00935L44E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm not sure what kind of cable you'd need, but you want a portable battery pack of 9V@2A (or more). This one seems to be appropriate. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00935L44E/

There's also a car charger accessory from Firefly, if that's useful to you.

The FF2 can charge via USB, so any battery pack will work, just get a silicone wristband to hold the unit in the cradle. It performs significantly better than the FF as well.

In addition to the above, not all wireless chargers are created equal. Cheap ones may not work with all phones or may require very precise positioning of the phone (which kills the convenience factor compared to wire). The one that is really good but expensive is TYLT. There is also a cheaper alternative which is supposedly a Chinese copy of Tylt.

I have a Tylt that I am very happy with. I heard that Itian A6 works fine, but I don't have personal experience with it.

u/WastedPenny · 1 pointr/nexus4

I got this charger back in April and it has been working wonderfully . No problems.

u/EricHerboso · 1 pointr/Nexus7

I did some research on wireless chargers for my N7 earlier today, and found that the Tylt Vu charges at an equivalent rate to a 1.0A normal (5V) charger, though it does so via 12v output at .75 amp. Based on its charge speed and other features, I decided to purchase it this morning -- despite a couple of small flaws.

Drawbacks are:

  • The plug appears to be big enough that it might take up the space of two outlets on some power cords.
  • The cost is nearly three times as much as some competing brands.
  • Some reviews claim that it can overheat N5s if you put them on the stand in portrait mode instead of landscape. (I only have an N7, so this doesn't affect me.)

Overall, I like the design and reviews claim that it charges as fast as a wired charger. What put it over the top for me was hearing that Leo Laporte uses this as his N7 charger, and he appears to be very happy with it.

Keep in mind that I only just ordered mine today from Amazon, so the above information is just info I gathered through research earlier this morning.
u/Jasonglawrence · 1 pointr/moto360

One more thing, Qi chargers are pretty picky about placement. This charger has multiple coils so you can just slap your phone anywhere on it and it should work. I haven't bought one yet because I heard the placement thing was annoying, but I just saw this one last week and was thinking of giving it a try.

Borrow Lenses is a great company.

I rented a 50mm f1.2L for and a 24-105L a while back for an event, great customer service.

However, make sure you don't get garbage speed SD cards and make sure you rent more than enough. Double what you think you will use.

Use a calculator on the internet to calculate how many hours you want to record and then double that.

A battery Bac-Pac or two is pretty much required, get however many you can afford.

Get one of these to charge them and you're set.

u/Spongi · 1 pointr/Survival

Ahem. I'm sure there's a more rugged model available for outdoor usage though.

Incase you're not super familiar with battery terminology - AA batteries have between 2000 and 3000 mAH's. Depends on what type of battery and what application it's used in. Your typical Alkaline or Lithium batteries run about 3 am hours (1000 milliamps = 1 amp), however Alkalines have a high internal resistance so if you try to use any high power uses, like a digital camera, the resistance converts a lot of the potential energy into heat, effectively wasting it. Using alkalines in a digital camera you can expect to get maybe 200 mah's out of it, if you're lucky.

Rechargeable nicad's will run about 2 amp hours. So 4, AA's will net you about 8000 mah's. My smart phone will last a good 12 hours of e-reading on a single charge and it's battery holds about 1.5 amp hours.

If I were to use that charger, I would want a USB AA charger to go with it to power my headlamp too and/or any other devices I might want.

The charger I linked has an internal battery pack that holds 7.2 amp hours, so that alone would run my smart phone for about 60 straight hours on a single charge.

The current generation of rechargeable batteries (eneloops), can be reused around 2000 times as well, with a low self discharge. Guaranteed to hold 70% of their charge after a year, 50-60% after 3 years iirc.

A dedicated e-reader will be a lot more efficient at battery usage though. This one can last up to 2 months on a single charge. It's just a simple black and white reader though.

A gopro is a good choice since they are very durable and waterproof if kept in the plastic shell

Option 1: Bring a bunch of batteries (annoying and probably expensive)

Option 2: Gopros charge over USB, bring a small solar panel USB charger to keep it topped off, something like this one looks decent and the internal battery alone would charge a gopro many times over even without the solar panel

Or if you want a really beefy panel that can keep the gopro plus a few phones charged have a look at this one

  • Portal 2 (also fun and funny, but with a coop mode as well) = computer - XBOX360 - PS3
  • Fallout 3 and/or Fallout: New Vegas (Post apocolypic games that are fun and often funny. They are open world RPGs with FPS playing style, although you can switch to 3rd person. Fallout 3 is more epic, grand and is more metropolitan, and Fallout New Vegas is more like a spaghetti western, intimate, and has better writing/storyline in my opinion) = FALLOUT 3: computer - XBOX360 - PS3 == FALLOUT: NEW VEGAS: computer - XBOX360 - PS3
  • Mass Effect 1, 2, & 3 (RPG/FPS set the future, in space, where the storyline continues, using your decisions from the previous games) = computer - XBOX360 - PS3
  • Red Dead Redemption (an open world RPG/FPS that takes pages from both spaghetti westerns and film noir. If you get this, be sure to get the add on called "Undead Nightmare", where you fight Zombies and meet mythical creatures. The base game is more artsy, and Undead Nightmare is just a squat load of fun.) The links that follow have both thenormal game, and Undead Nightmare in one. = XBOX360 - PS3

  • A different idea is to actually get him a wireless controller for his phone! If he has an Andriod, I would suggest the Power A Moga Hero Power It's portable, holds the phone, and I just am in love with mine. And because I have an Andriod, I can download ROMs to play older games like Zelda: Ocarina of Time, etc etc. But the controller works with SO many games! If he has an iPhone or iPad, or if you want another option for Android, I would go with the iPega. I don't have one, but it has the highest reviews.

As for if you should give 1 or 2 gifts, I think 2 might be a lot of fun! But it might depend on what the "1st place" person has on their list and what you want to give them! I'd say make the decision based off of what you want to give the main winner! =)

    ===========

EDIT - 3DS Games to consider:

  • Fire Emblem: Awakening - it's one of the best RPGs out for the 3DS. It's immersive and epic. Top reviews across the board.
  • Animal Crossing: New Leaf because everyone loves it so much and it's just adorable.
  • Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney because anything Phoenix Wright related is flipping amazing and totally fun.
  • Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance A great option if he's played other Kingdom Hearts games.
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. Especially if he's into Zelda, I agree with others that this is a nice option. Top-down action that returns to Zelda's roots.

edit 2: P.S: I'm new. I'll be making an intro post hopefully tonight! So hopefully it's alright that I posted here first. I was just excited, as I'm a gamer and love helping people with what to play next. In any event... HI!!

edit 3: I just made my [INTRO] post. It's here if you/anyone's interested.

Ipega telescopic or one of the Moga Powers. Hero Power would be kind of uncomfortable with the big phone (unbalanced, should use a 5" or smaller phone with it), but the Pro Power can be expensive.

u/ChrisOfAllTrades · 1 pointr/AndroidGaming

Meanwhile, here's a telescopic BT controller for thirty bucks that will probably perform about the same.

u/ClownTaint · 1 pointr/theNvidiaShield

Is there a Samsung or ASUS tablet that is comparable or better than the NVIDIA Shield for emulation? I'm specifically talking about N64, PS2, and PSP emulation as I'm pretty sure just about anything can handle NES, SNES, GameBoy, and Sega. But I'd also like to have a nice tablet that I can use as, you know, a tablet.

I'm going to use this gamepad HERE

u/Die4Ever · 1 pointr/Steam

Actually yes I have plugged a KB+M into my phone, usually I use an xbox 360 controller though with this

http://www.shapeways.com/product/GHA4J4BVJ/xbox-360-controller-motorola-nexus-6?optionId=42933531

and I also have one of these on the way

http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Bluetooth-Telescopic-Controller-IP117/dp/B00MUG3JPU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1425668994&sr=8-1&keywords=ipega+pg-9023

Yea the graphics are mostly the same for these games, some of them are indistinguishable like Five Nights at Freddy's or The Room, maybe Vice City too. The source code is not an exact match no, but neither is it the same for Linux/Windows/Mac, although a lot of these games use Unity and other engines like that so the development of the different versions would have barely any differences. Keep in mind most of the newer engines work on Android, like UE3 and 4, Unity, even Crytek with Crysis 3 being ported to Android. Some of the games on Steam were actually mobile first anyways.

u/satuprinssi · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Get one of these (check first if it fits) and enjoy whatever game that supports Xbox 360-style controllers. I have something similar for my HTC One and I play whatever I can stream from my PC (and also emulators) using Limelight/Kinoconsole (Limelight is based on same protocol as Nvidia Gamestream, Kinoconsole is the best indie app that does the same).

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MUG3JPU?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00 This fits both my Nexus 6 and 7 horizontally, it should fit a 8-10 inch tablet either horizontally or vertically. The right stick on mine isn't 100% perfect, but it doesn't bother me, though I don't know if it's a specific issue for me, or a poor quality issue.

u/Korinu · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

No i mean the 9023 it's just a bluetooth controller it isn't tablet specific. The 6p is huge so it's perfect for it. I used one for a bit and it works well. takes some getting used to having your hands further apart though. It just solves the button issue. I already owned a moga pro so I dont feel the need to buy a new controller but if i didn't own the moga i'd buy this one.

I wouldn’t dare edc my Apple Watch without some form of protection, main reason is because I accidentally hit my previous edc watch on the corner of my marble countertop and I’ve been paranoid ever since. You’re wild for running a spartan race without protection LOL.

And the reason I carried fmj its difficult for me to acquire special ammo like hp so I figured it’s better than nothing, but luckily I recently found a seller of 45 hp so I’ve taken the liberty of loading my mags with those.

agreed, had a gshock aviator before. I use it caseless with a zagg shield on the screen i had them put on in the local mall. looks like new, i swap the silicone bands often tho. Yeah, this one. Series 1 and 2 are same form factor, so there is no variance in case size/ shape between watch series. You have to use the screen protector that comes with it, though. Any other screen protector that wraps the edges will not work with the case. Just a heads up ;)

u/gohomepat · 1 pointr/AppleWatch

I've worn G-Shocks most of my life. I iust love how bulky they are. I highly recommend Spigen! The case is sold separately from the band but I have piece of mind when wearing it. My only real complaint about it is that the band requires a bit of dexterity to securely fasten. Nothing a little practice won't fix.

The general attitude towards cases on this sub is generally no, but given certain environments I can see why it's a good idea.

Unless you're going swimming (full watch submersion for long periods of time), you probably won't need the catalyst case for the Apple Watch.

For rough physical environments, I recommend using something like this Spigen case. You'll save a great deal of cash compared to the catalyst but also have adequate impact protection.

u/Amator · 1 pointr/airpods

Ah, I didn't realize the dock worked like that. It is expensive for what it does, though, I agree. I just connect my puck charger to $8 Spigen plastic dock. Even it wasn't so expensive it's still too big for what I'd like to do. I wonder if the magnetic puck is licensed by Apple in the same way that the lightning port is?

Yeah, I just ordered this watch stand. It's an Apple Watch stand but it looks like it will fit. If you remind me on Wednesday I'll tell you if it works or not.

Edit: That's gonna be a no on the watch stand. The charger fits but the watch doesn't sit right for it to work.

u/dskatter · 1 pointr/AppleWatch

Charge your Watch every night, treat it well, and it'll treat you well. :)

A cheap little nightstand dock is a good purchase, makes it a regular place to charge the device overnight and keep your charging puck stationary. This is the one I have, but you can find others that work just as well, and its from the Spigen offical eBay store: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Spigen-Apple-Watch-Stand-S350-Compatible-Apple-Watch-Night-Stand-Mode-/252020890753?hash=item3aad9d9c81

I also picked up a spare charger for travel purposes, so I can leave the other attached to my dock. They're not cheap, but having a spare is worth it in my opinion!

Edit: You can also get this stand on Amazon for slightly cheaper, looks like: http://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Charging-Premium-Compatible-Nightstand/dp/B0109I9W24

u/blu3bird17 · 1 pointr/AppleWatch

That stinks man. I’ve put mine on my desk charger when I get out of the shower which keeps it on it’s side. Maybe that’s helped mine from getting messed up from my carelessness

Here it is if your interested:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0109I9W24/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_I3nSDbEM0E9Y5

u/IncredibleGonzo · 1 pointr/AppleWatch

A charging stand. Even just the most basic ones like this or this. Obviously it's not a big deal to stick on the charger normally, but when you have to do it every day/every couple of days its worth streamlining and a stand will make it practically effortless to just drop it on the charger.

Alternatively also worth considering a combined watch + phone dock, if that appeals to you - when I got my stand I didn't want one of those because they almost all hold the watch vertically which would negate nightstand mode. Now as of watchOS 4.3 there's a vertical orientation nightstand mode, so a stand like that is more viable.

u/ehed · 1 pointr/AppleWatch

Been really happy with this Black Stainless Steel Link Bracelet I got on Amazon, it's my new default. Only downside is that the Spigen dock I bought to use with my older lighter band is mildly incompatible -- the weight of the band causes the watch to rotate down off the charging surface (I have to prop it up to keep it horizontal).

u/OrionsByte · 1 pointr/AppleWatch

I grabbed one of these the other day and I really like it. It's very very simple (and very inexpensive) but it does make connecting and disconnecting the charger really easy.

Yes, I just started using one. People recommended the "iOttie", but I found one that is magnetic and includes little metal plates that you can stick to your phone or case. I put mine on the inside of my case, and it works fine:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B016GNYZIC/

Easier to just "throw" it on the mount, than to use some clamping cradle, and certainly much cleaner looking while not in use...

u/kindrudekid · 1 pointr/subaruoutback

Honestly not worth having to worry about the port breaking your phone incase someone mistakenly jerks it or pushes on it.

I got this for my 2017 and is much better than the TechMatte one as the screw for it would block the screen a bit.

Currently if I have the phone mounted it still blocks the view but I can remove it for complete visibility.

Did you just bought the 2018?

Cause who uses CD's anymore? I also put the plate inside of my Otter Box phone case, at the bottom of my phone. I have an iphone 7 plus. When its at the bottom of the phone, you have full view of the infotainment screen, and your phone is very handy.

I'm really curious if this continues to work for you, I'm going through the same thing.

I put tape on the back of the daughterboard connector and that seemed to fix it for a few days, but it's gradually get worse again now. I'll probably try your fix soon, but I'm not very hopeful.

As a side note, I ordered a Blu Life One X to replace it since I doubt any fix I do is going to be permanent. It's $100 if you get it today (goes up to $150 tomorrow) and is pretty similar to the N5 in specs/etc. It's not a nexus device of course, but since the N5 isn't getting any more major updates this won't be much different in that department either.

u/jackarooh · 1 pointr/PickAnAndroidForMe

I can see that you don't like expensive phones, otherwise I would've recommended the Galaxy S7. I also uncommonly recommend to others any phone that is not made by a large manufacturer because I feel as they are the best. But, a brand named BLU has caught my eye recmently and I really like what I've seen of their phones.

Two that I'd recommend for you is the Life One X($150) or the Advance 5.0($60). I am unaware if a Advance 6.0 is coming soon, because I'm not as much of a phone geek as I used to be.

u/Druid_Fluid · 1 pointr/tmobile

I'd check out the BLU One Life X, only $150 so it's below your budget, it comes with a flipcase and a screen protector. It has 2GB ram unlike some other lower end phones, and 1080p 5.2" screen for great one handed use, also band 12 support and Ive been getting great battery life, but no removable battery.

Other wise I'd keep an eye open for used LG G4 if you want to spend more but get something more powerful, hopefully the price will drop now that the LG G5 is coming out.

This might be more in your range. I caught it for $180 on sale. Normal price is ~$220. It can run my laptop for a total of 20-25 hours. Granted, my laptop draws 9W from its internal battery under max load. I purchased it specifically for its low power consumption. If your laptop is running anything serious, you'd be looking at quite a bit less on-time.

When I first got it, I used it Saturday through Wednesday after work as my laptop's only power source until it died, running off my laptop's AC adapter. I'd probably get more out of it with a DC-DC car charger instead.

There's also this guy for $170, but it's half the capacity of the Suaoki.

You might also want to consider other things, like portable phone power banks. Ravpower's 34WH banks are $15 on sale and $20 full price. If you picked up 2-3 of those, a cheap usb powered tablet, and some usb string lights, you'd still come out under $150 if you picked up the tablet used from eBay.

And for $500, there's also the 400WH Anker PowerHouse.

u/seadolphen2 · 1 pointr/computers

I suggest the Anker Powerhouse. It should suit all your needs because its made for outdoor camping or as an emergency portable power bank.

That can easily be solved with duct tape and a 120000 mah battery.

50Ah is old hat nowadays. Even Anker themselves sells a 120Ah powerbank these days, and that's on the low end of the scale.

u/rkantos · 1 pointr/videos

Probably the easiest way to quickly get going is to get something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerHouse-Generator-Alternative-Rechargeable/dp/B0196GQAKM

I know it costs a lot.. but if you can get paid 50usd/second for the timelapses, it is probably easiest way ! Probably runs a D700 for at least a week. This is of course if you cannot get an extension cord there. With an extension cord or even the Anker PowerHouse, you could use something like this too: http://www.ebay.com/itm/AC-power-adapter-f-Nikon-D90-D300-D700-D3000-D5000-as-EH-5-EH-5A-EP-5-coupler-/180952806542

not sure what the recharge rate is but i would imagine unless your directly tethering to the terminals then you would be limited to the fuse amperage, typically like 15 amps on a cigarette plug i think?

back on the main topic, maybe something in this article might help? https://teslatap.com/articles/12-volt-battery-compendium/ they dont mention exact rates that i saw but it says "

>The Gen 2 DC-DC converter in the refreshed Model S accepts 220 to 430 VDC at 15 amps, and outputs 9 to 16 VDC. When outputting 12 VDC, it can deliver about 200 amps.
>
>The Model 3 integrates the charger and the DC-DC converter into a single package, the PCS (Power Conversion System)

IMHO i would just invest in one of those Portable power stations from the likes of Jackery, Anker or Goal Zero especially seeing as how the replacement battery is going for about $500 on Amazon.

I'm sure you could trust one made by anker. I used their micro usb cable for over a year, jamming it into bags and bending it everywhere. Still works beautifully. Unfortunately their usb-c premium cable only comes in one color (red) and length (3 feet). I'm holding out for a 6 ft black version to roll out sometime.

I'm using this USB plug and this cable to charge my Switch when I'm not at home.

If there's no power outlet where I'm going, I use this powerbank, which is a bit older and isn't sold anymore, but works nicely. Doesn't charge very fast, but if the Switch is on Standby, it's alright, considering that powerbank was very inexpensive.

That is quite odd. I haven't used the included A-C in my car as I decided to leave that at home for when I need to plug my phone into my computer. But I bought this Anker cable and it works great in my Civic. My only complaint is that the C end of the cable is quite snug to the port. This is good because the cable won't pop out on its own but it takes a little extra force to plug it in and unplug it.

You can only charge via USB so fast unless your device supports one of the technologies that negotiates faster charging. If your battery doesn't have that, then it can only charge so fast.

Anker Qualcomm Charger

u/loafloafers · 1 pointr/Ultralight

Thanks for contacting them.

I feel like it's worth noting, to get the quick charge input, you do need to use their QC input adapter. Assuming one would want a two port charger, Amazon has the QC 3.0 two port listed at 4.6 oz.

The older 10k (6.2oz) will charge a bit faster, in my experience, with my 2.4ax2 port (3oz) at around 6 hours. That is about the same listed on the newer 10k's amazon page of 5hr 40m with a 2a charger.

Assuming that the 4.6oz is accurate, there is a 2.6oz difference total for a savings of 2 hours if the 4hr charge time holds true as well. Still significant time savings but at a price.

u/monkeypoo63 · 1 pointr/lgg4

This is the one i got, purely because it had good reviews and was the biggest I could find:

There are however some other alternatives if you don't like the price or bulkiness of the zerolemon;

PowerBear LG G4 Extended Battery [6500mAh] & Back Cover & Protective Case (Up to 2.15X Extra Battery Power) - Black [24 Month Warranty & Screen Protector Included] https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZMLOHBA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_BaRwyb00TWPHF

And another thing, it's not widely stated but the LG G4 supports quickcharge/fastcharge so it's totally worth every penny to scoop up a quickcharger if you don't have one. I like the company Anker as I've been using them for years.

Anker Quick Charge 3.0 39W Dual USB Wall Charger, PowerPort Speed 2 for Galaxy S7 / S6 / Edge / Plus, Note 5 / 4 and PowerIQ for iPhone 7 / 6s / Plus, iPad Pro / Air 2 / mini, LG, Nexus, HTC and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IUSYF8G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_LdRwyb94QRH6K

There are some other anker quickchargers as well if you only want 1 USB socket or if you want something like 8. And they vary from quickcharge 1.0 to 3.0 which is pretty much just different charge speeds.

I have an iPhone XS regular size.

To charge I have an Anker wireless charging mat that sits on my bedside table. Its connected to an Anker 39 watt brick with 2 usb slots. My watch charger is plugged into the other slot. I'm not sure if the charging mat is capable of fast charging, but it doesn't really matter because I put my phone on the mat at night and when I leave to workout (s3 cellular watch, thing is awesome) so I never really get to a point where I'm hurting for battery.

In the car I use this Kenu wireless charger. I kinda splurged a bit on the car one, but whatever. In the past I would have it sit on my leg and it would sometimes fall off and generally be a pain in the ass, so the fact that it holds it up is great. Benefit of upgrading from a touchid phone to a face id phone with this kind of setup is that you just have to tap the screen and it wakes up and a glance unlocks for any notifications.

I'm doing my best to embrace this wireless future. If I gotta spend a little extra to get there, that's cool with me.

I’ve seen some posts asking about the Spidgen Full Cover Glass tR Slim. I'll try to answer some questions today.

Rating: 9.5/10

Thoughts:

  • I've used Spidgen protectors before and they always feel great. This one is no different. I've never had one crack on me, but I also take care of my phone.
  • Front coverage is really well done.
  • Slim, like the name implies.
  • Glossy- fingerprint magnet like all screen protectors, but easy to clean.
  • Reflectiveness is about the same as without the glass. On deep angles, you can see a slight fog of white due to not being adhered to the screen completely, which I think is absolutely fine because why are you looking at your phone like that anyway?
  • If you run your knuckle across with some slight pressure, you can see some temporary ripple rainbow effect on the pressured area. It goes away after some time, but it can be noticeable with the screen off or with a black background. Again, this is due to the screen part not being adhered. This is the first time I've used a glass protector with only the sides having adhesive, so I'm not sure how this will effect it in the future. However, I don't think it's going to be an issue.
  • You can tell in the pictures that the outside edges aren't completely covered but it's actually a good thing in my opinion. I use a case with it and if it didn't have that clearance, many cases (at least the ones I own) wouldn't fit or would screw with the glass cover and lift it up. Also, without the case it has a nice white trim since I got the black front with my Silver Pixel (looks really cool btw).

The reason I gave it 9.5 instead of 10 is because of the inside coverage not being 100% accurate (See album). The top and bottom of the screen is perfectly fine and I understand the cutouts needing a little bit of extra space (camera/infrared sensor), but the left and right side of the screen are not completely covered. I heard that the other brands actually cover it a bit too much, while Spidgen's actually is a tiny bit short (preferable, but not ideal).

    ---
That's it for the glass protector. Here's some bonus pics of some skins:

    Slickwrap's Hemp Skin

    DBrand's Concrete Skin
Note: I cut out the Hemp sensor area because I had trouble with my Concrete skin before where it would interfere with the laser focus.

This is the one I have that has the black edges. There's also a version with white edges. Some people complain about air bubbles in the middle, but I believe they were just applied poorly. I put mine on, waited 20 minutes, and decided to pull it off to adjust it. Fit perfectly with no bubbles.

u/t-poke · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

I had a Spigen tempered glass screen protector on my Pixel XL, and absolutely loved it. It only had adhesive around the edges, but if it was dot matrix, you wouldn't know it. Or maybe it wasn't dot matrix, I don't know, but I couldn't even tell I had a screen protector on.

I have not found anything similar for the 2XL. I have the Amfilm one on now, and it's not bad, but the dot matrix is clearly visible and I think touch sensitivity has suffered a bit. I am disappointed to see that Spigen doesn't have anything for the 2XL. Based on what I've read, it seems the Amfilm is the best TGSP out of all the mediocre options, but I would love a TGSP just like the Spigen one I had. Anyone know if Spigen has plans to make one, or if there's another one that is very similar?

When you shop, the primary thing you are looking to match up is the video resolution you plan to connect with for any video monitors. Just about anything works at 1080p, but things start to get hairy with 4k, 5k, etc. (Had a grand adventure trying to get a 'legacy' 30" dual link DVI monitor to connect. USB-C > mini DP, mini DP > dual link DVI dongle daisy chain)

Just about anything I picked up handled USB-A and SD cards.

For my own workflow, one of the things I did was buy something just for power. One USB-C @60W for my i9/32G macbook keeps up at home, and I mostly use the USB-A ports for charging other gadgets - not for data. (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0712252ZQ for $35) Picked up a few uniquely colored cables so I can see data vs power. I'm a developer, and that silly power supply has been keeping up with fan spinning power draws for almost a year when I'm at home.

Anker (Not Aukey) has had very well-reviewed MBP chargers for a few years now, and they are a reliable brand. Now that there's an actual certification, USB-IF, we can tell if they're safe. I like it because it's full 60w USB-C, but also offers 12w for 3 USB-A ports if you need to plug in a phone or tablet or other device. Wirecutter recommended it and it's been a fantastic travel accessory. I literally got one that I just leave in my carry-on because I travel so much.

Well since I never received a response I went out and bought one. This one works well it charges the laptop with no error messages and it also charges my pixel 2 it is IF usb C certified with PD specs, which was important to me. I ordered some longer cords that have full PD specs. These cords will handle up to 100watts so everything is working smoothly these USB c specs are confusing now I am labeling my cords since I have some lower wattage cords my phone uses. The Dell one is $100 geez incredibly over priced. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075WQQG7C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Their wall charger also works great. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0712252ZQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Here's the link I used at Amazon https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B072BD98CM/ to buy it. I will be buying a second one for international travel as well as this 60W charger (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0712252ZQ/) for recharging the things (right now I only have 18W chargers. I'd like to be able to recharge one quickly while at the airport or whatever.

u/Camman1040 · 1 pointr/thinkpad

However, for the T490, in benefit of having USB-C charging port, you could utilize an external battery pack to charge up the laptop on the go.

There are an assortment of battery packs out there with high capacity and high output to be able to charge the T490 multiple times over. As well as if needed, can charge during use. While the battery packs may not be able to create net-positive charging, it will extend the laptop usage time at least twice over. Especially if you arent utilizing the dedicated graphics.

Here is a couple battery banks you could look at:

u/cccoltsicehockey · 1 pointr/PixelBook

I have this one from ZMI https://www.amazon.com/ZMI-Pixelbook-Nintendo-External-Powerbank/dp/B072BD98CM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1537989136&sr=8-3&keywords=ZMI+USB+PD+Backup+Battery It can charge the Pixelbook at the same rate as the charger it comes with which is nice. It gets one full charge from dead from it.

Some of the Anker and Aukey ones can't charge the Pixelbook if it is dead for some reason. You have to change a setting that pops up on the screen to use them. To me that defeats the purpose of them then so I passed on them. I don't think the Omnicharge one has that problem either but it is like 3x the price of the ZMI one which is why I went with it instead.

u/j0b0sapi3n · 1 pointr/onebag

I currently use a RAVPower USB C Battery Pack 20100 since it's USB-C and can power my MacBook (bought in 2017). If I were to buy a new one today though, I'd probably look at this ZMI since it's a bit thinner/lighter and the power output is higher.

Hi, this is not that hard to find if you search. The only tough part about your requirement is the Macbook requirement. Even though you didn't mention it, I assume you have a Macbook that charges via USB C? Take a look at https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B072BD98CM/

u/j-cutter · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

A Redditor PM'd me a link (Don't wanna call you out - Yell if you want public credit for it) to This Previous thread saying that the ZMI QB820 can power a switch dock. It's currently available on Amazon US for $69.95 (Complete with the seller confirming Switch Dock compatibility.

Amazon won't ship lithium to the UK, but can get it from GearBeast for £41.69 in a flash sale for the next 24 hours.

I'd prefer the razor pack, but it's three times the price, out of stock in the UK, and doesn't have confirmed Switch dock use out in the wild. Likewise, a power pack with standard outlets would definitely work, and give more flexibility for other uses, but they're still more expensive and a lot bigger and heavier.

Unless you fine redditors know a reason not to trust ZMI Kit, I think this is the one to go for. Hoping to order the TV, Battery, Hotspot, and simcard this week - Happy to report back on what does/doesn't work with that setup.

u/punkonjunk · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I designed and built an entirely battery powered "portable" docked mode switch console-thing for car trips and smash tourneys. Before anyone says it, yes, the switch is already portable, but 4 people can cram around this thing and not go blind and the whole thing will run on batteries for about 8 hours. That includes the monitor, which is now a 12 inch display and looks much nicer.

I am using this battery to power the switch while docked:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072BD98CM/

Which naturally also charges it. and lasts a LONG time.

u/lnp3304 · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I'm not sure if my Switch's current battery drain is normal. I've read it somewhere that when the Switch is put in sleep mode with no game running in the background, it should be able to maintain 100% charge for about 1-2 days. I unplugged my fully charged Switch overnight and when I turned it on late afternoon, it has 98% left. Is that normal, or should it be able to hold 100% longer? I use the official charger for my dock, and use this ZMI wall charger next to my bed. Occasionally, I also use the ZMI power bank. Both of them seem to have good reputation and work well for the Switch.

Edit: words

I can't speak to the converter situation, but I did just buy this power bank for charging my usb-c laptops.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072BD98CM/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It seems like it is cheaper than some of the other options out there. Doesn't max the airline capacity, but has a solid 20k mAh. It has a 45W output that should charge your chromebook without issues. I haven't had the power bank very long, but I am really happy with it so far (and reviews are positive).

I’ve had good luck with this screen protector and it comes with a plastic alignment tool you place onto the phone and you drop the screen protector right in place. I’ve used it on two iPhone XS and they’ve been perfectly aligned. It comes with the sticker for the dust removal too.

u/Abenlog · 1 pointr/iPhoneX

I just installed this screen protector: Amazon Link

This was the first tempered glass screen protector that I've ordered which came with a super intuitive guiding system. The protector leaves space around the bezel for a case, which is exactly how I intend to use it. It also doesn't cover the notch. The guiding system was ridiculously easy to use, and I got a perfect fit the first try. Plus, it includes 2 extra protectors, just in case. Highly recommend it, especially at the price I paid.

Coupled it with a Spigen Hybrid Armor and my phone feels well protected now.

u/goonersaurus_rex · 1 pointr/iphone

ummm...I dont know? haha. I just generally buy cheap ones through amazon - my only screen is an anti-fingerprint coating (which doesnt last forever but w/e).

Literally the determining factor on this one was the fact that the pack included a guide to help get the placement correct (first time I have seen that).

FWIW this is what I got: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073DLZWX7/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I don't put too much thought into the protector. Mainly there to prevent light scratches - I dont expect it to save my phone from certain death. So with that in mind, the cheapo ones tend to do a great job. If it gets busted, no brainer to just slap a new one on.

u/bschn100 · 1 pointr/verizon

ok, some people don't like your question. I would suggest doing it yourself. get a protector with an install kit, they make it very easy, and alignment is no longer an issue.

I strongly recommend 30w Aukey usb-c charger as a travel companion. It is true that it is slightly underpowered (compared to 45w) but it is ridiculously compact(size of a lighter) and lightweight(50g).

I have a 13" 2017 MBP, and wanted a combo charger for travel that would charge both my MBP and my iPhone. I went with this one that outputs 30W on the USB-C port for the MBP.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FCFCRX6

I've been using it for a few days and it works amazingly well. Even when I'm doing all of my normal work stuff with tons of Office apps open, web meetings going on, etc. it still provides enough juice to top-up the battery.

It's no smaller than the Apple 61W charger, but packs more functionality. Anker has a single port 30W charger that would be significantly smaller than the Apple 61W - it's tiny.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DFGKFM3'

I'll probably pick one up once it's finally in stock in the coming weeks.

The moral of the story is don't overlook the 30W chargers, they work just fine for a 13" MBP unless you're doing stuff like gaming or video editing for long stretches of time.

I looked into the Ravpower GaN charger and saw some reviews that it can be a problem with some outlets while traveling. It's thin but really wide, so if your hotel/airplane/work outlet is in a tight spot you may not be able to plug it in.

Seems like the perfect place to ask!

As /u/afjeep says, the Spigen gets good mentions.

I can definitely recommend that you NOT get the Zerolemon. It doesn't fit the curve at the edge of the screen, and leaves an 1/8" "halo" of un-adhered protector. It hasn't caused me any problems, but it isn't a good design.

I've never seen a fingerprint sensor protector. I don't think it's a capacitance sensor, and I suspect that it might not function if covered. I'll go cover mine with Saran Wrap and see if it works...

EDIT: Wow! It works! I'm amazed! It reads my fingerprint and swipes through a single layer of plastic wrap. It correctly rejected my other fingers, but responded to the ones I'd previously stored. When a little piece of the plastic folded over and created a bit of second layer, it stopped working. So. One layer good, two layers bad.
